Happy birthday, boys!!
Sixth and seventh tattoo. First drawings I made in over two years after having been delightfully crippled to the point of not being able to dress myself.
All in all they took 9 hours 30 minutes. I was very happy and very tired and man, was that hat area sore afterward!
(Oh, the woes of photographing the back of your own arms.)

Would it be possible to see your tattoos 🥺 and how did you handle getting inked when you have chronic pain? I'm thinking of getting a tattoo but I have arthritis and I'm scared it's going to make it worse.
I have no problem with that honey! The only one I can't show is my first. It's on my upper back and hard to get pics of it.
Here's my other ones:
1. The bluejay tattoo took about 9 hrs. My second one.
2. My biological tree of life tattoo was about an hour and a half. This one I had difficulty here and there cause of how close to the bone it got.
3. My snake tattoo took two 8hr sessions because my artist decided to tap out cause he got tired 😂
4. The small dragon one on my back was about an hour and a half. Felt like a deep massage.
I can't speak for others with fibromyalgia, chronic pain, etc. Because we are all different but getting tattooed for me is a godsend.
Yes, it can be painful but its nothing compared to what I experience daily. Little bee stings vs. your body feeling like it went through a meat grinder? No contest.
Since my first one, I swear after the session I get almost 2 weeks of being pain free. Each time. I don't know why, could be all the endorphins. To me its worth getting that reprieve and you get awesome artwork out of it.
Listen to your body. That's the best advice I can give you. I hope you can get inked in the future if you so choose!

1. The inevitable decay and ultimate destruction of what we so ironically consider the most permanent of self adornments is one of the things I love the most about tattoos.
2. Only Queequeg would be chill enough not to cower and wet his pants from having Captain Ahab standing over him staring and growling.

fun fact: sometimes i forget i have a tattoo!
it will randomly hit me (like now, as i'm scanning papers at work) that 'wait, i have a tattoo??'
the logical response is of course 'okay, but how about more tats???' but mostly i just get stuck on how my object permanence is on par with an infant.
