i think one of the most helpful ways to explain how difficult it is for me to do things sometimes, is by defining how many steps something takes

like making tea

Sometimes it’s

1. Heat the water 2. put the teabag and water in a cup 3. add sugar and enjoy!

but sometimes it’s

1. get up from the chair 2. go to the kitchen 3. find the teabag in the cupboard 4. heat up the water 5. wait for the water 6. pour the water etc. etc. on and on until what can be a 3 step task becomes a 20 step task which overwhelms me and so i just sit and do nothing instead

#misc #i was just reminded #i think i also saw this explaining why in general it's hard for autistic people to do things #because instead of seeing the one big things to do #we see all the little steps involved each as separate tasks

"life doesnt get better, you just get stronger" does NOT include ages 11-17. life does in fact just get better from there. those years are dogshit. like, you do get stronger but its mostly just a factor of not being 11-17 anymore. positive thinking helps but it doesnt fix whatevers going on at 15, you have to brute force through that one raw

i’ve heard a lot of people say “don’t reach out to your friends first and see how many people will remain in your life. those are your true friends” and i get it. it sucks and it’s tiring constantly being the one to message first, to initiate hang outs but don’t take this so literally. some friendships require initiation. i have lost touch with so many people who genuinely cared about me and wanted me in their life because i stopped reaching out. it’s a hard pill to swallow but honestly some people just suck at it and it doesn’t mean they don’t love and value you. i’ve reconnected with some people over the past few months and it’s crazy how genuinely happy they are to see me and how engaged they are in the conversation. i just think sometimes we’re too harsh on each other & too quick to emphasize other peoples flaws and remove them from our lives but then we’ll all be alone and what’s the point of life then!!!!

i will remember with absolute clarity, when the thought strikes me that i have a text to send someone, that this is the fourth time in three days i've attempted to send this specific text

i will forget, in the time it takes me to pick up my phone, that i picked it up intending to send a text

#every time #managed to actually send it today!#but also i have been reminded to post this by the fact that i just had a task to do in two different rooms just now #so i turned the light on in the room i was getting to second because my brain would go 'oh why is the light on that's weird'#and check the room and it would remind me to do the second task #in the less than five seconds between turning the light on and exiting the room #my brain went 'oh the light's on better turn that off before i leave'#and i had to manually catch myself #PLS.#adhd

printing my fics

copy/pasting or screenshotting my fics

sharing your saved copy of my fics with anyone else who might want them in the unlikely but never impossible case that my fics are no longer available on ao3

making a book of my fic(s) and running your fingers across the pages while lovingly whispering my precioussss

doing these things with anything I create for fandom, such as meta, headcanons, au nonsense like 'texts from the brodinsons,' etc

I am not fine with "the audience"

doing any of the above with the purpose/intent of plagiarizing my work or passing it off as their own in any capacity

feeding my work into ai for any reason whatsoever
