I have to ask you this, I know it's not a fanfic request, but I do have some in♥️. Is it difficult to post to Tumblr? Do you have to use coding when you put things in italics? Hope you have time to answer this. I appreciate your writing so much!
Hi, I think Tumblr’s really easy to use! I prefer to write elsewhere (usually on Google docs or Word) but that’s just because I find it easier to edit and redraft on those. Then I copy & paste here. Any formatting you’ve done usually stays put, like paragraph spacing, italics, bold etc.
When writing on tumblr, everything’s pretty user friendly. No coding necessary. You just highlight a word and options pop up for bold/italics, colour, hyperlinking etc. There’s clear buttons for changing the word size/font, adding gifs, photos and music. so yeah, on a whole I think it’s really easy and user friendly.
Only things I really wish it had would be the ability to centre the text and undo/redo buttons, which is more of just a pet peeve on my end.
P.S your requests are on my list 🤍

Hey, I'd like to request for your 400 followers event, btw that's so impressive like damn you're awesome! So I was thinking of having a daichixfem!reader using the prompt 36 in an established relationship. So I kinda want it really fluffy when daichi comforts the reader but really angsty when the reader is spiraling into toxic thoughts, because I'm writing an essay on Monday and I'm really stressed about it.
I kinda want it were the reader is preparing for writing the essay, looking at examples, highlighting the text and even writing an outline to get comfortable with the text. But the reader starts spiraling, thinking about what grade she'd get, and how utterly destroyed she would be getting a bad mark after all that hard work and time and if she'd even get into university. So daichi comes a comforts the reader, using the prompt to stop spiraling and eventually gets her grounded again.
Ya, happy writing!

[A/N: Hello anon, thank you so much! I know it's already Monday. You probably already wrote your essay :') I'm sorry if I wrote this for you too late, but hopefully it could still come in handy for any of our future essays or assignments! Hope you enjoy <3]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Stressed was an understatement.
You’d been sitting at your desk for hours, trying to prepare for the essay you needed to write, but your thoughts were spiraling out of control.
How am I supposed to write this essay? What if I can’t finish it in time? What if I mess up? How will my grade recover if I get a low mark? The toxic thoughts were endless and they only slowed down your thinking process even more.
You tried shaking yourself off, looking back over at the text in front of you as you continued to highlight important parts that you could use in your essay. After reading through it a few times, you sigh, frustrated that the reading wasn’t sticking in your brain. Feeling aggravated, you decide to move on to something else.
You turn to your computer and look up several essay examples to get a feel of how you would format your own essay. Though, example after example only made you feel more dejected. You desperately wished you could copy the examples word for word and submit it as is, by-passing all the unnecessary stress that came with writing your own essay.
“What’s with all the sighing?” a voice asks, shaking you from your thoughts.
You quickly turn around to see your boyfriend, Daichi, by the door.
“Just worrying about this essay that’s due in a few hours. My outline is a complete mess, this text makes no sense, and these essay examples are just frustrating me because I know my essay won’t come out as good as them,” you huff, your legs bouncing anxiously in your chair.
“Then I guess I’ve arrived just in time,” Daichi laughs, closing the door behind him as he drops a bottle of water and some snacks on your desk beside your papers, “Eat up, you have to feed your mind and stay hydrated in order to focus.”
You look between the snacks and Daichi, but huff and push it away, “I’m too stressed to eat.”
“C’mon now, take a breather for a few minutes to clear your head before you continue.”
“How can I take a break when the essay is due in a few hours and I have nothing to prove for all the hours I’ve already spent trying to prepare for it? If I can’t even handle one measly essay, how will I be able to handle any of my assignments in University? If I even get accepted into a University that is. With the way my grade is going to look after this paper, I highly doubt it.”
Daichi, who was seated on your bed, became silent, his chocolate eyes silently studying you.
“You know what? I’m just gonna accept the zero and call it a day, I can’t do this,” you say throwing your hands up in defeat.
“Nope, not happening,” Daichi finally speaks, making his way over to you as he drags your chair closer to him and takes a seat back on your bed, “I know you won’t forgive yourself if you just choose to not do the essay entirely.”
His warm hands engulf your own and he rubs tiny circles onto your skin, easing your mind slightly.
“I know assignments can be difficult, and you’re putting ten times more pressure on yourself with those toxic thoughts as well, which I think is why you can’t focus on your essay,” he starts, “You’re overwhelming yourself about something that doesn’t have to be so overwhelming.”
You quietly listen to him, nodding your head as he speaks.
“Babe, you’re one of the most intelligent people I know. You do your best in everything that you take on, and you actually care about your grades, which is a good thing until it gets too far,” he lifts your chin so he can look straight into your eyes, a small smile on his face as his eyes pool with adoration for you.
“Then how do I stop my thoughts from spiraling out of control so I can focus on this essay?” you pout.
He pulls you gently into his chest and wraps his arms around your form, placing delicate kisses to the top of your head.
“Just take things one step at a time. Instead of thinking about the ‘low’ grade you think you might get on your essay, start focusing on the smaller parts of the essay until it’s complete. Starting with your intro, body paragraphs, until you make it to your conclusion.”
You nod your head, wrapping your own arms around him as you inhale his comforting scent.
“Just take a few deep breaths, clear your head, and focus on the task at hand. What does worrying about the future do for you?”
“Nothing…” you answer, finally understanding that you really were thinking too much into your assignment.
“Exactly, you can shape your future by focusing on the present, so let's do that. I know you have what it takes to write this essay. Easy ‘A’ I say. If you want, I can stay here with you to help pull you back to reality if you start falling back into your toxic thoughts,” he suggests with a small smile.
“You’re right. And yes, that would be great if you could. Thanks babe.”
“Anything for you Y/N,” he winks and rolls you back over to your desk so you can start writing again with a clear head, “you got this.”
He leaves one last kiss to your cheek and throws himself back onto your bed, getting comfortable and remaining silent so you can focus on your essay.
Whenever you start getting frustrated, he’s by your side immediately, rubbing your tense shoulders and encouraging you to continue until your essay is finally complete.

welcome!
- ͙۪۪̥˚┊❛ 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐞𝐬 ❜┊˚ ͙۪۪̥◌
hello and welcome everyone! this is a new twst writing blog that will be a place where i’ll answer your writing requests as well as occasionally upload my own works!
as this will be open to requests, i’m going to establish some rules that you need to read before sending a request.
≪•◦ ❈ ◦•≫
✧・゚: *✧・゚:* 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐮𝐥𝐞𝐬 *:・゚✧*:・゚
: ̗̀➛ i do headcanons, letter drabbles, scenarios, and imagines. anything else that asks for something else will be rejected.
: ̗̀➛ please specify if you want a headcanon or a scenario. i will also reject requests if they ask for both types or do not specify any at all.
: ̗̀➛ observe common courtesy in your request. i will delete requests that are worded rudely.
: ̗̀➛ any request that asks for anything from the things i am not willing to write for will be rejected. (see the list at the bottom for what i am willing to do and not willing to do!)
: ̗̀➛ sometimes, if the number of requests reaches a high number, i will close requests. when requests are closed, you cannot send in requests. i will put reminders in my blog description and in the ask title. if i see requests during this period, i will delete them. you can still send in non-request asks, however!
: ̗̀➛ please only request via ask. i won’t answer your request if it’s sent via submission or dms. this is to keep things orderly on my end!
: ̗̀➛ specify whether you want yuu/mc or reader! yuu/mc is the canon mc in the game (and therefore is really only close to adeuce and grim) while reader is you and the audience. please see this post for a better explanation on the difference!
: ̗̀➛ i reserve the right to not answer any request that i do not wish to answer, whether it’s due to discomfort or lack of motivation.
✧・゚: *✧・゚:* 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐧𝐬 *:・゚✧*:・゚
: ̗̀➛ general rules apply to these, so please be mindful!
: ̗̀➛ there will be a hard limit of a maximum of four characters per request. if i see a request that asks for more than that, i will decline your request.
: ̗̀➛ please include only the necessary information in your request! for example, if you’re asking for a reader insert type of request, only describe one or two key features that you wish to highlight. for example, asking for azul with a reader who is an angelfish mermaid is alright. however, requests with excessive descriptions will be rejected, as this may seem oc-coded.
✧・゚: *✧・゚:* 𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐬 *:・゚✧*:・゚
send in a letter to one twst character, and you’ll get a reply in return! this is your way of interacting with the characters, only in letter format~. compliments them, ask them questions, maybe even make fun of them if you want to. since this is a drabble, responses will be capped at 100 words.
: ̗̀➛ here are the rules for letter drabbles:
if you’re asking for a letter drabble, your request must be in letter format. so you have to have headers such as ‘dear [character name]’ or ‘to whom it may concern’. otherwise, you won’t get a reply.
there are two type of letters you may send in:
the first kind where you specify the name of the character. this means that the specified character will reply to you.
the second kind is where you don’t specify any character, aka starting the letter with ‘to whom it may concern’ or a similar variation. this means that any random character will reply to your letter.
: ̗̀➛ with this type of request, i would like to remind all of you of the following:
this type of request will adhere to the general rules, so that means no nsfw letters or anything triggering. those will be deleted.
please don’t send in anything tmi (too much information). your letter will be exposed in the public platform, word per word, and i value your privacy.
: ̗̀➛ general rules apply to these, so be mindful!
: ̗̀➛ imagines are going to have the same prompt as the old drabble prompt.
basically, send in one character and one song lyric, and the imagine will be based on that one song lyric.
it’s optional to give me the song title, but it will help me find more ideas.
i accept songs in english and tagalog! songs with english translation are also okay!
i’ll accept a maximum of two characters per imagine.
imagines will have a word count of 500-1000 words.
: ̗̀➛ scenarios, on the other hand, can be any prompt that you want.
request for one character with either mc or reader. the difference is in the pinned post, but if you request for mc, canon will be followed, and if you request for reader, anything works.
you may also ask for up to two characters to appear in one scenario.
specify if you want platonic or romantic.
scenarios will have a word count of 1001-1500 words.
ೃ⁀➷ i am willing to do the following:
fluff angst platonic romantic character x character reader insert au (*this will depend on what type of au this is and how knowledgeable i am about it)
ೃ⁀➷ i am not willing to do the following:
nsfw horror yandere oc requests crossovers incest pedophilia anything else that i deem uncomfortable to write
: ̗̀➛ i write for all twst characters, whether they’re nrc, rsa, or misc.!
thank you for reading! i’m looking forward to writing for you~
masterlist can be found here!

Can thy requesth a fic where the reader is sad and Sir Levi comforts them?😁
Hello my love and thank you for requesting this 👉🏻👈🏻 the format I chose was definitely inspired by @sasageyowrites and her amazingly heartbreaking story Crazier Things. This was quite the ride for me and I hope you like it, I intently made it open for interpretation so you can always ask for part two.
Summary: You, a former knight are helplessly in love with the Captain of the royal guard, Levi, who is about to go on a crusade and you write this cathartic letter to him to confess your love in case you never get to speak of your feelings in his presence.
Pairing: Levi/ Reader
Tags: angst, fluff (depends on the way you interpret this)
Roses and Dragon embroidery
Tumblr media
"My dearest Levi,
It's bold of me to ever call you that, my Captain, but this isn't any ordinary occasion, you can tell by reading everything I'm going to write below, by the way my writing isn't too formal.
I suppose I should start by mentioning fundamental things regarding this letter. I know it's going to be long and you don't have to read it's entirety if you don't feel up to it, but it'd be my honor if you did. There are things in here that come from my soul and they're meant to only be told to you. I couldn't force you into anything, but it'd be soul relieving if you spare a little time to know what I held in my chest for years.
It's a given. When you've received this letter, I'm most likely dead, or, rather exiled to the the underworld, slayed by the proud blade of a Marleyan knight, but you should know that in this war I've fought well. Or so I like to think. My injuries have caused my weakness and I loathe I couldn't follow you into this new crusade, but staying back has felt relieving and mending to my soul. Spare the Marleyan knight for killing me if you ever come across them; there's no wrong or right in this world, they only seeked justice for their nation by slaying innocent peasants, isn't that what we do on our crusades to their kingdom as well?
But my dearest captain, between everything that's right or wrong in this world I hate to say I don't know where I belong. You're an entirely different case, though. Bear with me as I'm saying those words, I know they're going to make you clutch the paper in your hands but please don't shatter it before I get to speak my mind. You are a bastard son to to a prostitute, an orphan, the former protegee of a man who worked against the knights of the round table and then single heartedly joined them. You were a thief. I know you were thief, I know as much as the next person but I don't think anyone ever understood what it's like to switch positions like that. In the span of a short period of time you were head of your own knights. Me, included.
You are probably wondering why I mentioned your past, it was only for me to highlight your current position as my Captain. And I'm sorry that with this letter I'm somewhat putting you into another position, one that may have you suffering.
Time to jump into the important thesis of this letter. I don't know where you are right now. I'm imagining though, you're sitting by your window, with your armor off of your angelic form, sighing at my words as the sun is setting for our kingdom. In this short life, sun has definitely set for me, for us. There are a thousand things I wanted to say, but never found the courage to. And I'm sad, Levi, I'm sad you have to know this way.
But today, today as in the day I write this letter, is a nice day. For me. (Y/n). We've just gotten back from washing our clothes by the riverside, I've just told you I'm mad that we don't spend much time together anymore now that I'm relieved of my duties as your knight and you hummed in response, greeting with my words with a soft expression on your face, and Levi, right now I think you're going to be the death of me. I can't help it. I keep imagining the way your lips shall taste upon mine and I'm hungry. I'm hungry like a wolf, captain, excuse my words, but it's the truth, I know I'm such a coward for not speaking them, but hiding behind death and my poor ability to write I've found some comfort as to sharing them with you.
Sir Levi, the most honorable knight, today I, while lathering your green undershirt in soap, almost told you I'm in love with you and that I want us to get married. Now that you know your surname, now that you officially belong in the Ackerman clan, now that you can legally marry someone, I'd like to consider getting married to me. Forgive me if I have mistaken what I have perceived as your affections. But you seem to look at me in a way that I haven't seen you look at anyone else. You spend your days with me when you're back from crusades, you write me letters to let me know about your well being.
Am I wrong for loving you? I'll never figure out. It's only that my heart pulls at its strings whenever I see you, my stomach turns and i feel as if I've been thrown from a catapult. I've never understood how you can do that to me. Can you? Have you felt this way about anyone? My mind will haunt me in my very last moments for not knowing an infinite answer. I don't think I'll ever feel released by this heartbreak, even after death. My only release is a fixation on the way you shiver your silvery orbs into mine.
And oh those eyes of yours. I wish you would look at me while holding my hands into yours under the moonlight, I wish you'd tell everything I've imagined you saying. I've never heard the word 'love' fall from your lips in such way so that I could know what it would sound like when you'd say it to me inside my head. But Levi, yes, once again it's a but, I wanted to spend a lifetime listening to it. I wanted for you to tell me how you love waking up next to me as we would hear the river flow beautifully in the distance. My heart is burning, Levi. I know, I'm sad and that I'm crying as I'm writing those words, but I've really dreamt of a future with you, have you felt that way about me?
Sir Levi, the knight who owns my hearth, I only set my pen down for an hour, to simply talk to you over a hot cup of tea, because you had just finished hanging out our clothes to dry and for the first time in my life I've felt as if my prayers have been heard.
You kissed me.
You put your lips against mine, suddenly, as I turned to you while the sun was setting and it was more than I could ever dream of Levi. And you comforted me in such ways I'll never do any justice to simply write into words. How can you be such a godsent angel? My lips are numb and fuzzy and my insides are fluttering, I still can't believe this happened. I can't believe you actually feel that way about me. Suddenly this letter isn't just the goodbye of an unrequited lover, it's so much more. Now I have a reason to fight my way back into the castle. Maybe, Historia would let me be a maiden, it'd be safer to live in the castle, rather on my own even if it means I'll serve as a slave to the queen. I couldn't care less about serving the crown in any way, but for you I'd do anything.
You promised me, with a rose you said you found by the riverside that you'll come back from the crusade, safe and sound and in return I promised I would stay safe as well. Maybe that's the way things should happen, right? I'll start embroidering you your green undershirt, excuse me for the time I'm going to keep it from you and pretend I don't know where it is.
I'll embroider your most favorite thing on it. A white dragon. Because you remind me of one. I'm biting my silly lips as I'm writing this, my Captain, but I can't wait for you to hold me in your arms. And I can't wait for you to slightly smile when you see what I'm going to make for you. I'm going to stop my mumbling now. I someday will give this to you, once you're back from the crusade in Marley.
Love, (y/n), the brat who doesn't know how to waste minimum soap while washing clothes effectively."

Oh, Brother! (Lucifer ft. Baby Beel)
Summary:  Brotherly love comes with sacrifice, even if the said sacrifice greatly outweighs its benefits. (based on a headcanon request on our old AO3 request box)
Accompanying HC for this fic can be read here. This was originally a request. The old version is poorly formatted so I decided to repost this now that I am sliiiightly better at using tumblr. Anyway, enjoy!
~~~~~~~~~~~~
I consider myself to be a rather self-sufficient person. It was a fruit of years of conditioning brought upon by my unique, personal circumstances. You may also say that it is my inclination to exhibit such behaviour because of my personality. But while I make long-winded introductions that segues even further from the point I was making, let me, as my brothers say, "cut to the chase":
I have no idea what in Devildom is going on. Sets of eyes looked at me expectantly, and I did as I usually do when I am dragooned into unforeseen…problems.
"I see." I don't. But a white lie is what is required to quell the squall of chaos right now: debris of what looked like Leviathan's furnishings were strewn on the wet floor. Looking up from the living room where remnants of the ceiling were barely keeping itself intact, Henry freefell into my arms, a timely catch away from his imminent death. I turned to my pale brother, asking "Lotan?" in the calmest tone I can muster, and was only answered in more silence. I offered him Henry, which he took still looking down, and turned to problem #2.
"MC, may I have him?"
"I…"
I stopped and talked over them. "I'm not angry. Let me hold Beel."
"It's all my fault!"
Sigh. Why do they always do this? A surge of pain was felt on my temples, but I pretended not to feel it. "Why don't you help Levi clean up his room? Do you even know how to take care of a non-human child?"
"No, but!" they argued again. I listened. "You're not going to punish Mammon, aren't you?"
Punish is such a heavy word. I noticed how protective they were of my brother, almost to an extent where I feel like they perceive me in an unfavourable light. They were more carefree with them, but all yes and no's with me in comparison. I wouldn't say I'm envious. Rather, I'm baffled. Occasional pranks became the highlight (read: tragedy) of my day, often while I was poring over documents and settling political disputes on behalf of Diavolo. Partnered with Mammon and Satan, they were a force to be reckoned with; one I remembered being visibly annoyed by for interfering with my work. No one shall ever know that I might…have looked forward to those times. It was a puzzle to be pieced, an idle form of entertainment to guess which kind of tomfoolery they would attempt at me that they were foolish enough to think they would succeed in. Unfortunately, any victory they may have celebrated in the past were my fabrications that only the likes of someone as observant as Satan would notice.
"Procure a change of clothing and go while I'm still being merciful." I saw them share the same pallour as Leviathan, dragging him along while mouthing complaints under their breath. A curse perhaps, not bound by magic but of something else, directed at me, their usual villain. Such childishness that I let slide, as I was accustomed to being an enemy, especially when I know I was right.
Beel is finally in my arms, a docile child as cherubic as the little Beel in my memories. The pieces of the puzzle are finally coming together as I look around.
"Belphegor, wake up this instant! You're sleeping on a wet floor." You'll catch a cold, I almost felt myself saying but was able to hold myself back. "Unless you would rather be carried like the old days? I don't mind."
"Fine, fine. I'm up." They stretched out their arms to retrieve their twin and I shook my head. "I wouldn't leave such a delicate child to someone who couldn't even coordinate themselves properly. Go to sleep, Belphegor.
.
.
.
...and Satan, if you have the time for hexes, you would also have the time to clean up this mess."
"Tsk."
"I would see all of you in my office once this is all fixed.
.
.
.
Not a spot should be left unattended. Understood?"
"Yes, Lucifer."
I don't have time for this. So many documents are left unsigned on my desk. A meeting with the Chancellor, a hearing from the House of Commons, a response to Michael's ridiculous letter…
"Wuchy, angy?"
Beelzebub's upturned eyes looked at me adorably.
"Wuchy…" I looked around and breathed a sigh of relief as I saw most of them are either absent or pre-occupied. Clearing my throat, I noticed my voice was shriller than usual. "Wuchy…" I repeated and sat Beel on the plush sofa. "Wuchy is NOT angy…"
"Bee hangu" he pulled at my sleeve, turning my attention to his rumbling stomach. "Wuchy…Bee hangu."
I nodded. "I see. Does Bee want to eat?"
"Peas!"
"You want to eat peas?"
"No! Bee Hangu! Peas!"
"Ah, " I nodded again as I finally understood. "I apologise, Bee. You're trying to say please?"
I couldn't help but smile back when he did so in reply.
To my disappointment however, even the kitchen was destroyed, to the point that MC didn't want me to enter. It was admirable, I suppose that they were able to explain the situation to me while everything was still in a state of chaos.
It all started with a hexes assignment that failed miserably, turning Beel into an inconsolable toddler that caused Levi's room to be absolutely destroyed. Since nobody was capable of understanding Beel's speech, his childish tantrums got worse and caused the House of Lamentation to be in its current state. The only reason the situation subsided a bit was because of Belphie's interference. Where was Belphie in the first place? Was my question, and MC's shrug affirmed that he ignored my warning about sleeping in on the weekend. Again. I sighed.
"Sorry, Lucifer. Why don't you eat out with Beel for a while?"
"Bee hangu! Now!"
"....Bee, that's my glove."
"Bee?" (MC)
!!!!
"Beelzebub." I cleared my throat. "I shall heed your advice before Beel throws a bigger tantrum."
"Wuchy, hangu!"
"Yes, yes. Wuchy…heard you. MC, take care of the house while we're gone."
There was a ghost of a smile on their face, one they must have tried to hide from me earlier. "Yes," They snorted, and I silently warned them to open their mouth again.  "Wuchy."
Ah. They still have the audacity to mock me. Me. Who was trying to turn a blind eye? Giving them a chance to fix their mess before anyone else finds out? I smirked back.
"If the house falls down…or if it gets destroyed any further…prepare to face your punishment . Alone."
Their silence was enough of a penitence…for now. Beel's stomach growled louder and louder each passing second, and my gloves are currently soiled with bite marks everywhere.
I bent down to meet Beel at eye level and pried my hands away from his nibbling. "What do you want to eat?"
His eyes sparkled at the question, and he started chanting something in gibberish that I pretended to understand. "Wook wook! Bee fawwit!"
Wook?
He...never said that before. Or did he? I decided to carry him in my arms once I noticed he was having difficulty keeping up with my strides. He shook his head several times as we passed every food stall and kiosk in the shopping district, contenting himself with chewing on the gloves I thought I had confiscated already.
It had been so long that I almost forgot that Beel was once a picky eater when he was little. Michael marveled on his "refined palate", telling me I should cherish my brother's talent (and consider giving Beel to him once he got older to train under his tutelage) but I vehemently refused. I was busy enough as a high-ranking angel and barely had the time to see my siblings, and the last thing I ever wanted was to part from them. I understood the difficulties of having an absent parent all too well, and I did not wish for my brothers to experience the same longing I had when I was the same age as them.
Beel was as docile and as sweet as I remembered him long ago, smiling and laughing in my arms, calling me Wuchy over and over, and seeking for his twin in adorable babbles of "Bewphie" and "Bwanky", which I responded in my usual way:
"Bewphie, sleep."
"Seepu?"
"Yes." I answered, prying away my damaged gloves from his mouth. "Bewphie told me you should eat so you won't wake him up." I pointed at his rumbling stomach, and little Beel automatically held it and felt the rumbling coming from it.
"Bee…wouwd (loud)?"
"Mhm. Bewphie can't sleep unless you eat something."
He must not have been able to distinguish his twin because of his current form, seeking perhaps a smaller counterpart of his brother just like the old days. After some more meandering around stalls, feeling full over the meals that Beel refused to eat, I racked my brain to figuring out the meaning behind his childish babble:
What on earth does wook mean?
I have never heard him say it before even in the Celestial Realm, nor did I ever recall teaching him the words.
"Wook! Wook!" Beel said excitedly again, grabbing my hair in his elation to turn to a man flipping Bat Wing pancakes in a stall. The line was atrocious, barely moving, arid and noisy.
"Does Bee want to eat that?"
I sighed in relief when he shook his head. "Wuchy, Wook! Wook Bee fawwit!"
Wait a moment. Does wook mean…
"Do you want me to look?" But look at what? At the elderly demon flipping pancakes? Beel shook his head again, seemingly lost at how to translate his thoughts and feelings into his limited toddler vocabulary.
"Wook...wook fuu fo Bee…" he squinted his googly eyes at me and made exaggerated hand gestures. "Wuchy….wook fuu fo Bee! Bee fawwit!"
The proverbial cogs in my brain started to turn as I came across an epiphany. Before I knew it, I was already holding my DDD.
It pains me to do this, but I cannot let Diavolo know.
"Hello, Simeon?"
Brotherly love comes with sacrifice, even if the said sacrifice greatly outweighs its benefits. It was evident with Simeon's jovial expressions as he opened the door.
"It really is a baby! Can I hold him?"
Simeon's smile never disappeared, rather, his eyes narrowed as he turned to me to speak. "Luke is good with kids. He volunteers taking care of cherubs in Heaven."
"Mhm! I have Raphael's seal of approval!"
Sighing, I surrendered my brother to Luke, my traitorous brother who did not even cry or protest when a complete…stranger is now holding him in his arms.
"Meemwon!"
"Oh! I haven't heard that in ages! This sure brings back memories!~" Simeon planted a kiss on Beel's cheek and I couldn't help but frown. "Hello, Bee! It's big bro Meemwon!" Beel giggled in reply as Simeon planted smaller kisses at him, clearly enjoying the attention.
"You're getting into this, way too much don't you think so?"
"He's adorable!" Simeon reasoned. "But, isn't his stomach growling?"
"That's why we're here." I tried to maintain an aura of composure. "I need to borrow your kitchen. Is Solomon around?"
Simeon's eyes widened for a bit in understanding…then I heard manic laughter. Is this really how he should conduct himself in front of the children? I kept that opinion to myself and didn't say a word. "No, he isn't. Don't worry." He looked at me again and smiled reassuringly. "Feel free to use the kitchen. We'll take care of Beel~"
"Solomon--"
"...won't feed Beel anything even if he does come back. Just go before he throws another tantrum!" Simeon shooed me away from the living room, pushing my back to Purgatory Hall's fully furnished kitchen. It certainly had better equipment compared to Lamentation, which I can only attribute to Michael's influence.
Cooking was one thing, but feeding Beel another. He continued rejecting meal after meal after meal of my best dishes. His stomach only growled louder, and his mood became irritable even with Simeon's and Luke's aid. The ingredients I have purchased were almost gone, left only with a half-used bag of flour, milk and eggs.
"The best I can do with these are pancakes…
Pancakes?"
A memory flashed in my mind, taking me back to the Celestial Realm and our former residence there. Assuring the house help that I wanted to try cooking for my brothers for a change, I begrudgingly followed the recipe book Michael had given me and started with its easiest dish.
I attributed my failed attempts to Michael's unique, archaic wordings in his cook book and tried again. And again. And again. Numerous ruined frying pans and ingredients later, I was left with a shabby excuse of a pancake---charred at the sides, eggshells at the other. I waved my white flag in surrender and called for a food delivery instead, deflated. Some Morning Star I was. It was an hour before dinner and my siblings were peeking at the kitchen with their blinking, doe eyes.
"Wuchy...huwt?" Lilith looked up to me, looking like she was about to cry and I took her in my arms to comfort her.
"Lucy…" I corrected myself. "Wuchy isn't hurt. Just tired."
"Seepu?" Belphegor offered me his cow pillow and I shook my head. "Later after we eat."
"Fuu?!" I managed to catch Beelzebub with my free hand before he faceplanted on the floor as he rushed to me in excitement.
"I'm sorry, Bee. As you can see, Wuchy doesn't have anything edible he can feed you." I carried him in my free arm and showed him my culinary failures.
"Wuchy…fuu." Beel pouted at me. "Wuchy, whie. Fuu deww! (Lucy lied. There's food over there!)" He tugged my hair and glared. "Bee, eat!"
"Eat!" Lilith mimicked.
"Bewphie, eat?" Belphegor followed.
"No, children. As you can see-- Mammon, wash your hands first!--"
I couldn't believe my eyes.
Everyone was gathered at the table, eating my failures with smiles on their faces. Beel, who had been sitting next to me this whole time tugged me on the sleeve to ask for seconds. "Dis...Bee fawitt! Cwunch!"
"It must be the eggshells."
"Mhm! Wuv it! Wuchy?"
I felt him wrap his arms around my side. With a wide grin, he said. "I wuv you!"
Only to be followed by a barrage of hugs from the others, talking over each other as they gathered around me with their syrup-stained faces.
"Asmo wuvs Wuchy disssss much!"
"Bewphie...wuv!"
"Wiwi, wuv Wuchy moww! (Lilith loves Lucy more!)"
"I guess you're okay…but the Great Me is better!"
"...Levi l-loves Lucy too…"
I couldn't remember much of what happened afterwards, but I do recall telling the delivery man that he can have my order for himself. After that, I strived to become better at cooking so I can serve my siblings better meals.
.
.
Anyone would strive to try harder if they are ever subjected to that much smothering, I suppose. Still, I do think that after that, Beel began to eat everything happily, much to Michael's dismay.
"This looks horrifying." The plating of the pancake itself was one or two burns shy of Solomon's best attempts at cooking…I could not believe that out of every dish there is in this world, this horrible disaster is my brother's favourite food. I never really asked him about it. Perhaps I have forgotten and he happily ate everything I cooked because he had no choice. Still, it was no time to mull over such nonsense, especially if Beel's stomach is now resembling Cerberus' growls.
"Wook!" Beel's eyes sparkled as I placed the cooled pancakes down at the table, munching on the sweet treat happily despite the…eggshells. I tried my best to emulate my failed attempts from before, and judging from the elated look on Beel's face, I must have gotten his approval.
"Is that--" (Simeon)
"Don't ask." I shut him up before he could even speak a word. "And please don't ever say this to Michael. I wouldn't hear the end of it."
Simeon smiled impishly in reply. "Would you cook here again--"
"No.
.
.
.
.
.
But I suppose I owe you some hellfire mushroom rolled cigar cookies for letting me use your kitchen."
"Anytime~"
"I was talking to the chihuahua, not you."
"I'm not a chihuahua!"
Beel was sleeping peacefully in my arms on the way home. While still baffled at a startling discovery about Beelzebub, I hadn't much time to think about it as I was covered in confetti the moment I opened the door.
"Happy birthday, Lucifer!" (MC)
"Simeon took too much time! The ice cream's meltin'!"
"Lolololol I told you he forgot his own birthday! Beel was the perfect distraction!"
What. On. Earth. Is going on?
"Sorry, Lucifer!" MC bowed her head and looked up to me, looking apologetic. "We were trying to throw you a surprise party but…things got…well...wrong. But, everything's okay now!" They pulled me inside and showed me the feast they have prepared for me.
It was a smorgasbord of my favourites. From the appetisers to the desserts and wines, I recalled some of these dishes as my specialties. Satan's familiar handwriting was drawn over a buttercream cake with my name on it, along with a small drawing of me in a party hat along with everyone else. Everyone else was seated at the dining table including Diavolo and Barbatos, both of which I was trying to avoid the entire day.
Were they involved in this ridiculous plan as well?
MC seemed to read my mind and nodded at me shyly. "I did mess up with my homework, that much is true, but Solomon helped in undoing the spell! He was the one who suggested to turn Beel back into a toddler so we have enough time to prepare for everything!"
Solomon waved a hand at me and smiled. "They still didn't let me cook anything though☆"
"So all of the chaos…"
"...is us cleaning up our first attempts of party preparations." Satan begrudgingly replied. "Until of course, you came back earlier than expected."
"Now, now~" Asmo interjected. "What's important is that he's here and Beel's spell is about to wear off!♡ Now, Lucifer dear, why don't you join us and blow your candles?"
I have completely forgotten about my birthday.
I didn't see the point of celebrating it anymore, I suppose. Thousands of years of repetitions can bring ennui upon you. However, things have changed.
The House of Lamentation had a warmer atmosphere thanks to MC, and everyone was closer than ever before. The loss of a family and an inclusion of a new one opened up our hearts enough to heal and perhaps forgive ourselves a little for the years we have ignored its value.
Who knew such a fleeting human could be the catalyst of such unimaginable developments?
"Oh! Beel's back!"
"Yay~! Your seat's over there, Beel!"
I consider myself to be a rather self-sufficient person. It was a fruit of years of conditioning brought upon by my unique, personal circumstances.
However…nothing can ever prepare me for this moment.
"Lucifer?"
I turned to Beelzebub, now back to his normal form and he offered me a smile. "The pancake you cooked was really good. Can you make it again for me next time?"
I smiled back.
"With or without the eggshells?"
Highlights of 2020
Finally finishing my You x Idol drabble game.
Writing some series ideas that I really thought were going to be hard (Forsaken, To Be Continued, 10 Dates) and being satisfied with how they turned out
Doing some groups series, like Band Sessions and MonX Hospital, and creating an entire world.
Collaborations with my writer friends. I honestly love writing with my friends!
Writing Sungjin as a cop in To Be Continued. He wasn’t even in the original draft notes for the series but became someone so deeply important to the storyline! I feel like each year, Sungjin’s characters keep coming out on top (last year, it was his story Existence in the Spiritual Connection world that came for my soul)
Destined hitting 2k notes and still being the most popular story and series on my blog.
Things I wish had gone differently / things I wasn’t happy about
The gaps in my writing schedule - whilst I needed to take those moments, looking back now, I wish I could have remained more consistent.
The lack of variety - in some areas, I did improve but looking back on everything, it was pretty obvious I stuck to like three groups for most of the year. Of course, this isn’t entirely bad as I discovered deeper connections with some of these characters, but it did mean I didn’t get as much variety as I hoped to.
The endless hate for Forsaken and Bloodstone - two stories that I was really excited to share. I know I need to let it go, but I really don’t get the big fuss around it all.
Personal pressure - I was so busy trying to improve as a writer over and over that at times I forgot to enjoy the journey as I travelled along it.
Frightful October - that whole thing was so unfortunate and it still breaks me to think of all the discarded plans @this-song-thats-only-for-you and I had, only to not give the segment it’s final hurrah as we hoped to. This was the last year we wanted to do it as we were going to try something new for 2021, so it’s really bittersweet knowing how much of a fail October was.
Tumblr media
2021 Goals
To complete at least ten series
To either write the ideas that have been sitting in my ideas file for sometime, or to let them go... holding onto them for a rainy day so to speak isn’t going to work
Always aiming for variety but also accepting that there are some groups I just naturally have an affinity towards and that’s okay
To try and write more details into my worlds. This way, I’ll be adding more depth and word count - which isn’t a bad thing to be practicing if I wish to attempt writing longer pieces for eventual novel preparation
To collab with some other people than I usually do. I’m not very brave at approaching others but I want to give it a try! (please if you want to collab with me, feel free to message me haha)
I dunno why but it makes most sense to me to put Mayday6 in May, so it’s kind of a goal to make that happen then lol
Figure if I’m going to open another prompt list up for requests or offer sporadic requests - either way, bring in some fresh ideas from my followers at some point
To be uncaring about genres I choose. If I want to write four royal au stories in a row, then so be it (I have a lot of royal and regency au ideas, someone please make me stop dreaming about being a princess or wearing pretty dresses lmfao)
Whilst scheduling to me is important, not pressuring myself to stick to the same format of writing each week/month. I’m not burned out, but I am bored of the same thing time and time again.
Admittedly, this one is one I can’t not ask of myself - make a pile of writing so I’m ahead again. I like the feeling of having stories to fall back on.. but also allowing newer stories to jump the queue if I’m most excited for them.
Tumblr media
Phew! What a year I’ve had! There’s been some amazing moments not captured in this list, and amazing people who I’m forever grateful for. Thank you for supporting me!
May 2021 bring some really awesome personal writer growth and fun for this writing blog!!
Week 9// How to land yourself a sweet Job that you might actually enjoy—A complete Beginner’s guide
As much as I wish I could’ve been born a trust-fund baby, I have accepted the fact that I am—and always will be—an average Joe(sephina) who, just like most of the world’s inhabitants, needs a stable career to make an honest living. Not that a job(s) should ever consume the entirety of your existence, acquiring one is a very important aspect of life and the ability to do so with polish and vigor is a skill every working-class citizen should refine.
That being said, I curated an in-depth guide explaining the basic necessities required to land the job you desire
I have organized each section for different levels of preparedness. You may skip to the sections that are most relevant to your current informational needs:
Section 1: Where to begin?
Section 2: Creating a Resume & Cover letter
Section 3: Job Hunting Tools
Section 4: Interview Prepping & Tips.
Section 1. Where to begin, you ask? If you don’t know what career area you want to pursue yet, start here:
1.      Make a list of your strengths. If that doesn’t come naturally to you, ask a friend or trusted co-worker their opinion.
2.     Evaluate Your Past to Avoid a Dead End. Ask yourself some questions help you clarify your feelings about previous jobs or other professional experiences so you can look for similar or different characteristics in the future.
3.     Talk to People to Learn What Your Dream Job Is. Start taking some time to request and schedule informational interviews with people in the fields you’re interested in to learn about their career paths and get advice. Ask about their job, their professional past and aspirations, and the industry. Be sure to prepare questions ahead of time.
4.     Take Classes First, Figure Out What Career You Want Later. Try something new whenever the opportunity presents itself. Take online classes, attend workshops, read books, and watch YouTube tutorials. By taking these chances, you may find out that you’re really into UX design, digital marketing, Python programming—or something else entirely!
5.     Consider What Work Environment You Need. Are people in the workplace you’re considering competitive with one another or collaborative? Are they friends outside of the office? Do they work as a team or on their own? Can people work remotely or are they expected to work in the office? What is the work-life balance like? What are the salary expectations?
6.     Do What Makes You Happy (Even If You Don’t Know What That Means for a Career Yet). Think about what truly interests you, not what necessarily sounds the most lucrative or high-powered on paper. Try to pin down those things that engage you in a such a way that you’re always able to muster at least a spark of passion about them and use those interests to guide you toward an applicable career path.
Section 2.  Ready to start applying? First thing’s first—create a RESUME! (and cover letter)
1.      Start by choosing the right resume format. There are 3 commonly used formats depending on which is right for you: Chronological, Functional, or a combination.
A chronological resume format places the professional history section first and is a good option if you have a rich professional work history with no gaps in employment.
The functional resume format emphasizes the skills section and is a good option if you are switching industries or have some gaps in your work history.
The combination resume format is a good option if you have some professional experience, where both skills and work history are equally important.
2.     Include name and contact information. Your resume should begin with your name and contact information including your email address and phone number. You have a choice about whether or not to include your mailing address. Your name should be highly visible at the top of your resume with a bolded or larger font than the rest of the document, but no more than a 14-point size. You might also include a link to your online portfolio if you are applying to creative positions, for example.
3.     Add a resume summary or objective. After your contact information, you have the option to include either a resume summary or objective statement. An objective statement quickly explains your career goals and is a good choice for those with limited professional experience, such as recent college or high school graduates. A resume summary is a short statement that uses active language to describe your relevant work experience and skills.
4.     List your soft and hard skills. Take a moment to consider which skills make you a great fit for the job. Review the job description and highlight keywords that you have had proven success with in the past. Consider both hard (technical) and soft (interpersonal) skills, as well as transferable skills you can use when changing careers or industries. Create a skills section with the keywords that are relevant to the employer. List any required skills like certifications or licenses first.
5.     List your professional history with KEYWORDS. Write your professional history section in reverse-chronological order. Start with your most recent job and provide a short description including the company name, time period in which you were employed, your job title and a few key achievements during your time at the company. You might also include relevant learnings or growth opportunities you experienced while employed there. Use keywords from the job description. Similar to your skills section, you should also include information from the job description in your job history bullets. This is pretty important given auto-filtering many companies now use to sort through resumes. Be brief in your summaries. Only like key achievements. Use action verbs. Some examples include “developed,” “saved,” “drove” and “managed.”
6.     Include an education section. An education section will be especially valuable if you have limited work experience (such as recent college or high school graduates) or if you are transferring to a new industry. You can include information such as:
Relevant coursework
Grade point average (if above 3.5)
Participation in clubs or organizations
Leadership positions held
Awards, achievements or certifications
When writing your education section, you should include the name of the institution, dates of attendance and your degree or area of study.
7.      Consider adding optional sections. If you have significant white space on your resume, consider adding an “achievements” or interests section. This can help supplement a shorter resume, especially for those with limited work and educational experience. Makes sure that the achievements and interests you list support your career goals and are relevant to potential employers.
8.     Format your resume:
Make your font between 10 and 12-point size.
Select a font that is clean and easy to read like Arial or Helvetica; avoid stylized fonts.
Make sure your margins are 1 to 1.5 inches.
Make your name and section headers bold or slightly bigger in font size (no more than 14 points).
Use bullet points when listing several different pieces of information, like under your education and professional history sections.
9.     Proofread your resume!!
10.   Tailor your resume for each position you apply for. It’s important to revise your resume to tailor it to each position you apply for. For each job, adjust the keywords in the skills section so that it’s a great fit for what the employer needs. You should also change what you emphasize in the professional history and educational experiences sections depending on what’s listed in the job description.
11.    Create a Cover Letter! A cover letter is a document sent with your resume to provide additional information on your skills and experience.  The letter provides detailed information on why you are qualified for the job you are applying for. Don’t simply repeat what’s on your resume -- rather, include specific information on why you’re a strong match for the employer’s job requirements. Think of your cover letter as a sales pitch that will market your credentials and help you get the interview. As such, you want to make sure your cover letter makes the best impression on the person who is reviewing it.  A cover letter typically accompanies each resume you send out. Employers use cover letters as a way to screen applicants for available jobs and to determine which candidates they would like to interview. If an employer requires a cover letter, it will be listed in the job posting. Even if the company doesn’t ask for one, you may want to include one anyway.
Section 3.  Let the HUNT begin!
Some useful tools for finding job opportunities:
1.       Networking. It's known as the hidden job market: Many of the best jobs are never advertised. They are filled by candidates who learn of them by word of mouth from friends, former colleagues, and ex-bosses. You can join professional associations, attend events for graduates of your school, connect with professionals who work in your field, and take every chance you get to meet up, in person or online, with others in your field.  Various online sites such as LinkedIn allow you to broaden your network to include friends of friends. The bigger your network, the more likely you'll find out about new opportunities.
2.     Referrals. Some employers offer incentives to their employees for referring a successful candidate to the company. It's a win-win situation for everyone. You get a new job, and your contact gets a finder's fee for attracting a top-notch employee.
3.     Job Boards and Career Websites. Many state governments provide job boards and job banks that can be accessed by all. You can also use job search engines or any of a vast number of career-related websites that post job openings, such as Monster.com, Google for Jobs, CareerBuilder, and Indeed. Many other databases specialize in freelance and contract work, including People Per Hour, Upwork, Simply Hired, and Crowded.
4.     Job Fairs. Job fairs are often targeted toward specific industries, although some job or recruitment fairs are more generalized. The promotional material will include a list of the organizations that will be represented.  Investigate any companies that interest you, bring a batch of resumes and business cards, and get ready to sell yourself. Consider any conversations with recruiters as mini-interviews that can set you apart from other applicants. Some organizations may even offer on-site interviews to candidates that match their requirements.
5.     Company Websites. If you already have your dream employer in mind, go directly to the career section of the company's website. If you track openings on its site, there's a chance you'll find just the opportunity that you've been waiting for.  Create a list of employers that you'd like to work for and visit their websites often.
6.     Headhunters and Recruiters. If you're looking for some professional help in your job search, headhunters and recruitment agencies can help.  Many organizations hire through recruitment agencies to streamline the hiring process. Headhunters actively recruit individuals to fill specific vacancies.  Payment is based on commission. Make sure you know up front whether you or the company is paying it.\
7.     Temping or Internships. Temporary employment and short-term contracts often lead to permanent positions. It's a great way to get a foot in the door or at the very least provide you with useful business contacts to call upon in the future.  Many recruitment agencies can assist with locating temporary or casual positions and contract work.
Internships are a great choice for students who are just graduating from college. The job placement services of many schools connect their students with opportunities.  If you're just starting out and you can afford it, volunteering can be a great way to gain valuable industry contacts.
Section 4. Lions and Tigers and INTERVIEWS, Oh My!
Here are some tips for how to prepare for a job interview:
1.      Carefully examine the job description. During your prep work, you should use the employer’s posted job description as a guide. The job description is a list of the qualifications, qualities and background the employer is looking for in an ideal candidate. The more you can align yourself with these details, the more the employer will be able to see that you are qualified. The job description may also give you ideas about questions the employer may ask throughout the interview.
2.     Consider why you are interviewing and your qualifications. Before your interview, you should have a good understanding of why you want the job and why you’re qualified. You should be prepared to explain your interest in the opportunity and why you’re the best person for the role.
3.     Do your research on the company and the selected position. Researching the company you’re applying to is an important part of preparing for an interview. Not only will it help provide context for your interview conversations, but it will also help you when preparing thoughtful questions for your interviewers.  Researching the company and role as much as possible will give you an edge over the competition. Not only that, but fully preparing for an interview will help you remain calm so that you can be at your best. Here are a few things you should know before you walk into your interview:
Research the product or service the company offers
Research the job position and understand all the requirements and responsibilities that go with it.
Research the company culture.
4.     Consider your answers to common interview questions. While you won’t be able to predict every question you’ll be asked in an interview, there are a few common questions you can plan answers for. You might also consider developing an elevator pitch that quickly describes who you are, what you do and what you want. You should also prepare to discuss your salary expectations, just in case. Common interview questions include:
“why do you want to work here?”
“what interests you about this role?”
“what are your greatest strengths/weaknesses?”
5.     Practice your speaking voice and body language. It’s important to make a positive and lasting impression during the interview process. You can do this by practicing a confident, strong speaking voice and friendly, open body language. While these might come naturally to you, you might also want to spend time performing them with trusted friends or family or in front of a mirror. Pay special attention to your smile, handshake and stride. If you need to, search up some resources on how to deliver a proper handshake, how to introduce yourself properly, and proper interview etiquette for more information. The internet is littered with tons of great information on these subjects.
6.     Prepare several thoughtful questions for the interviewer(s). Many employers feel confident about candidates who ask thoughtful questions about the company and the position. You should take time before the interview to prepare several questions for your interviewer(s) that show you've researched the company and are well-versed about the position. Some examples of questions you could ask include:
“What does a typical day look like for a person in this position?”
“Why do you enjoy working here?”
“What qualities do your most successful employees have?”
“I've really enjoyed learning more about this opportunity. What are the next steps in the hiring process?”
7.     Conduct mock interviews. Just like public speaking, practicing interviews is the best way to relieve anxiety and improve your confidence. Practice may be tedious, but repeatedly experiencing the interview process will make you more comfortable and help you give the right impression.  If you have friends or family to help, conduct mock interviews as much as you can. If you don't have another person, practice your questions and answers out loud.
8.     Print hard copies of your resume. Most employers ask for digital copies of your resume with the application, but they may not have easy access to it during the interview itself. Having copies to present to multiple interviewers shows that you're prepared and organized. You should have at least three copies to provide for multiple interviewers, plus one for yourself to follow along.
9.     Prepare travel arrangements. Allow plenty of time to arrive for the interview, even if it means arriving much earlier than needed. Save the interview contact information just in case something happens out of your control that is causing you to be late. Search the interview location in advance to avoid hiccups.
10.    Sell Yourself. One of the biggest challenges in an interview is selling yourself. Most people are uncomfortable with this idea, but presenting yourself accurately and positively doesn't have to feel like a sale. The truth is that you do have professional skills and experiences that may set you apart from other applicants, so it's acceptable and expected for you to acknowledge them to your potential employer. When you prepare for a job interview, make note of your skills that relate to the role and think of how your experiences and abilities can contribute to the overall goals of the department and company. If you have metrics or stats to show your accomplishments or growth during your previous roles, they're a great help in selling yourself during the interview. For example, you may have increased sales by a certain percentage or increased social media engagement in your last position. Whatever accomplishments you have, don't be modest about sharing them during your interview. Your potential employer wants to know that you'll be the right fit and that you can deliver something special to the company.
11.    Get ready to follow up after the interview. After your interview, you should prepare to follow up with the employer. Doing so reminds the employer of your conversation, shows them you are genuinely interested in the position and gives you the opportunity to bring up points you forgot to mention. Here are a few steps you can follow when crafting a follow-up note:
In the first paragraph, mention the specific job title and thank your interviewer.
In the second paragraph, note the company's name as well as a conversation point and/or goal that seemed especially important to the person you spoke with. Connect that point to your experience and interests.
 In the final paragraph, invite them to ask you any additional questions and close by saying you're looking forward to hearing back.
The process of getting a job may seem…yes, overwhelming, sure. It is tedious, but it’s also a fluid process that through practice and usage becomes like second nature. The most important focuses come down to having a strong resume & cover letter, networking, being calculated with your job searches, and presenting yourself confidently, professionally, and personably. Most of these things are already ingrained in us, we just need to take the time to hone them in and polish them up. Doing so only serves to benefit our own wellbeing in the long term.
Can you show us Harry getting jealous of Orion because Hadrian pays him more attention? And a picnic with the whole family(Evans, Lupin & Black, and Potters), where they play games and stuff and Harry stares longingly at Hadrian but everybody thinks he's staring at Bill. Both the Evans are totally oblivious)
 This is oddly specific but in a good way anon. So here is my attempt to fullfill your request.
Based off the wonderful fic C’est La Vie by the ever talented @cywscross. Ya’ll should read it if you have the chance.
The picnic is an unofficial tradition that started sometime in the last magical war. Maybe it was to left their spirts in dreadful times, maybe it was a show of defiance against the blood supremacists’ fear tactics or maybe as the Weasley twins put it, the picnic was just an excuse the adults needed to relax and have a bit of fun.
Whatever the case, the picnic happens every spring, when the weather grew warmer and the grass returns from its frosted slumber, dressing the ground in brilliant green. They always rented a little space in the forest of Dean’s camping sights.
It wasn’t much but it had muggle repealing wards, along with warming charms and offered some picnic tables. It was also in a clearing in the middle of the woods, allowing the sun to peek down on them, with enough trees to hide any that wished to fly their brooms.
Harry wasn’t one to normally notice this but today that sunlight was resting in Hadrian Evans’ hair like a glowing crown and it was distracting. So terribly distracting.
He had to force himself to notice nature just so he wouldn’t be caught staring at Evans. This silly infatuation he’s developed for the other boy since the beginning of the year was rapidly getting out of control.
Everything Evans did only made it worse, but most especially whenever the other boy lost his temper. He was light a firework bursting in sudden colorful flames that left him feeling awe in the glory of it. Harry was beyond frustrated about that fact.
He’s tried to talking to Evans after the incident, but the other avoided him like a plague, choosing Orion over him.  That’s never happened before. The more Harry pushed to get his attention away from the mutt the more of Evans’ beautiful fury he saw- which on one hand was good and on the other, it wasn’t.
As the year progressed, Evans started to get closer to the Slytherin and the Golden Trio (but that was more after Evans was un-petrified and Longbottom’s guilt drove him to seek the green eye boy out). Not to mention Diggory and Lovegood, who was often spotted with the group as well.
It was darn near impossible to get close to Evans. Harry was slowly losing his mind, whining to Dean and Seamus over his newest problems. His friends weren’t much help, seeing as they never had a significant other either, but they listen to him anyway.
His dad thought it was hilarious and even his mom couldn’t fight back the twitch of her lips when Harry let some of the love problems become verbal to them the first time. Though he never said the name of the boy and his parents were old aware of his crush being, male, dark wild hair, and green eyes.
They must have guessed correctly since his Dad kept sending him teasing smirks whenever they passed by Dimension Hoppers during the Easter holidays.
Since they both knew about his maybe-crush (could he call it that?) they were quick to agree when Sirius asked to invite the Evans boys to the yearly picnic. Harry had overheard Evans mention his big brother before but he never actually met the man properly (The meeting after the fight was spent with him more worried about his nose and the sudden realization how pretty Evens is to really pay attention to the oldest)
When the pair of brothers arrived, Harry had almost forgotten how to breathe. Walking towards them almost in slow motion, the Evans brothers were wearing muggle shorts and muscular shirts, both laughing at something the other had said, and honestly who gave them the right to look like that!? Who gave them the right to wear something like that while looking like that?!
He’s a half-blood himself but he preferred robes since his mother didn’t really go visit the muggle world. He couldn’t understand how muggles were so comfortable in those restricting clothes. Especially those near his age, they were always wearing something bright or stupid on their clothing.
Often times, they were fitted like a second skin and quite frankly didn’t do a lot of them favors. Nothing beats the flowing elegance of robes, highlighting the possibility of a body in Harry’s opinion.
It certainly didn’t do the mutt any favors.
Harry had thought Orion looked ridiculous in those muggle pants and printed shirt, the words “Moon-Walking away from my problems” in bright silver on black made the muggle shirt that much more hideous.
That was until Evans’ whole face brighten when he saw it.  “You’re wearing the shirt I got you!”
The mutt had looked as embarrassed but pleased as Harry has ever seen him. “It’s hilarious”
“I know right?”
Evans had barely given Harry’s best set of robes (something he wore in hopes of getting some kind of the green eyes boy’s attention)  a glance, instead of talking about more “one-liners” he was planning on putting on shirts for Orion. The werewolf looked like he would kill to wear them.
Maybe, it was time for a change in his wardrobe.
It’s been a few hours, maybe two at most, since they started the picnic, the food was slowly being cooked under the watchful of Uncle Remus. Werewolf he is, but the man was the best at outside cooking spells. Must be all those years he spent on the streets like the rest of his kind.
The other adults had all pulled around the spell pit, some of them levitating some meat over the magical flame and chatting. Will easily join in with them, a cup of fire whiskey in his hand, filled but untouched. The man’s wild mane of hair stood out among the adults for its youthful shine as he told jokes and conversed.
His dad and Uncle Sirius hadn’t stopped laughing since he opened his mouth while his mom kept giving the eldest Evans smiles.
Since the adults were chatting the kids went off on their own. Usually, they played some games after eating, so before then the two would sit at a table where Harry would whine about the mutt being the only one around.
Now, Orion and Evens sat on the other side of the field heads bent over a muggle notebook, where Evans was drawing in a blue glitter pen. Orion would occasionally point, and add something with his own green glitter pen.
Evans’ eyes danced every time he did.
Time went by, until the two had rushed over to Will, who had waved his wand and made a box of blank white shirts appear. Harry had watched them grab some art supplies and start to fill up the white cloth with words he was too far away to see.
At one point Evans had even introduced the werewolf to tie-dye, apparently thinking this was the best picnic activity there could be. Harry doesn’t remember seeing Orion smile so much as he dripped color on the rubber-ban bound shirt.
A part of him long to join. But he didn’t.
Instead, Harry asked his dad for his broom.
Harry had gotten on his house Quidditch team this year. He is a good flyer, and boys were impressed with good fliers, right? So he busted out his broom, spent a good half hour working up a sweat with daring flips and turns with the hopes of getting that same kind of reaction from Evans.
If a shirt with some stupid pointless words were enough to get his green eyes to sparkle like that then surely Harry weaving and waving in the air would have a bigger reaction?
Now here they were. Harry on one side of the picnic ground doing some circles on his broom and Evans sat on the other side sharing a book of runes with the mutt offering Orion little smiles here and there as he babbled away about the symbols.
Evans hadn’t looked up once and Harry was starting to get discouraged. He continued to do some broom maneuvers trying to work a tricky Gryfindor formation (he really needed to practice) occasionally throwing looks in Evans direction to see if he was looking.
He wasn’t.
Harry sighs.
“That was pretty close.”  The sudden voice almost makes him fall off his broom. Looking down he sees the eldest Evans- Will- grinning up at him.
“What?”
“The Whirlwind Turn. You almost got it.”
Harry raises a brow in surprise. “You know how to do it?”
“Of course. May I?”
Harry hates it when someone thinks he needs their help, and he almost tells the other male to piss off but he’s Evans’ older brother. He doesn’t think he’ll endear himself to the other boy if he’s rude to his brother. “Sure.”
He goes to the ground handing over his broom with some hesitation. He doesn’t like it when someone who doesn’t know how to use brooms properly touches his and he’s worried the elder will be one of those fools. The doubt all melts away the second Elder Evans takes flight soaring through the air like it was born to do it.
He does the Whirlwind Turn so quickly he almost blurs on the spiral down, making Harry’s jaw drop. The Whirlwind got its name by the rapid and tight spins that one had to while going down or up, it took a large amount of skill and dedication to get it correctly but when one did, they defended or accelerated rapidly. “Wow.”
The man winks moss green at him “Want me to show you how to do it?”
Harry grins “Yeah!”
________________________________________________________________
Unknown to him the adults are watching from where they are pilling plates with their meals. Sirius gives Harry a slightly cold look before elbowing James  “Looks like your boy got a crush there.”
James watches Harry’s red face brighten as Will helps position correctly on the wood. “Hmm. Maybe. He was glancing over here a lot a while ago. Should I be worried?”
“Let him be,” Lily says. “It’s just a crush. It will pass.”
“Yes, besides Will is a good kid,”  Remus adds, his own smile just the slightest too tight. “Nothing to worry about him. As far as I’m aware neither of the Evans boys seems aware of their admirers.”
He gives a meaningful head nod to where Orion is holding hands with Hadrian as the pair attempt to practice for the three-legged race that will commence the moment the Weasleys arrive. Hadrian didn’t seem to notice that he was giving his son a heart attack but pressing himself so close to the other, as they stumbled about with one of their legs tied together.
Both boys were covered with their tie-dyed shirts having given each other the one they made. It was so cute. He would make sure to take a picture of them soon.
This was in his opinion the best picnic so far.
you were good to me - Oikawa Tooru x Reader
Tumblr media
So, this is my first ever fanfic! Aah! Writing this was 100% a daunting experience for me, but I largely enjoyed writing it (posting it tho? *rapidly spams space button to align lyrics with the middle* *posts* *formatting is completely off and i have to do it all over again* *screams*). If you have any constructive criticism/ formatting tips, please comment it or send me a message ʕ •́؈•̀ ₎
Not requested, but certainly inspired by all the other oikawa x reader writer-chans out there (and a good friend of mine, yejin if you're reading this ily smkamsjskamssjk)!
Lying, isn't better than silence
"I don't love you anymore."
Oikawa Tooru could feel the bitter aftertaste of his own words to you that night.
Floating, but I feel like I'm dying
One year later, and he still couldn't break off the chains that anchored him down every time he jumped for the ball in a match. He couldn't fly like he used to, the guilt in his gut pressing him down every time he looked towards the stands and you weren't there, cheering for him as you usually did. It was his choice, his fault. And he regretted it, although he wished he didn't.
Still, no matter where I go
At the end of every road
You had always been there for him before, whenever he felt he wasn't good enough. The gentle caress of your fingers through his hair and your soft eyes peering into his own chocolate irises had helped him get over the loss of the match and focus on getting even better than he was. On particularly harsh days, you sang him to sleep, the dulcet tones and lull of your voice relaxing him as he passed into a gentle slumber.
You were good to me
You were good to me, yeah
You had always been understanding of him whenever he ended his practice sessions late. You never asked for his time, knowing his passion for volleyball burned brighter than anything you'd ever seen before, and you wanted to support him. You hugged and congratulated him with a smile on your face when he won, and you comforted him when he lost, but most importantly, you were always there in his life. A constant he could trust, someone he could rely on, someone he could love. He'd been thankful for it. And yet, when he saw the successful application to the Argentinian Volleyball Team, he was hit with the truth. Oikawa was moving to a country on the other side of the world, and things would've gotten so much harder for the both of you. You deserved someone that was so much more than him, someone who would hold you at night, someone who could go on real dates with you, someone who could, and would, put their own time away for you. As much as it hurt him, he knew for your own good, he had to let you go. So he did it the way he hoped would hurt you the least.
I know it's easier to run
After everything I've done
Cut it off. Keep your emotions away from this. This is what's best for them.
"I'm moving to Argentina, and I think it's time I tell you something..."
"I don't love you anymore. We should end things."
You were good to me
Yeah, you were good to me
He still hears your quiet sobs that night sometimes.
…………………………………………………………………………………………
Leaving, isn't better than trying
You'd spent that night lying on the couch, crying to yourself over your boyfriend who'd just walked out on you. What had you done wrong? Were you still not good enough for him? As soon as you had began to stop, reduced to sniffles, images of his silhouetted back as he walked out the front door and the cold glint in his brown eyes as he said the words that broke your heart flashed through your mind made you start bawling all over again. Had everything that had happened between the two of you been a lie? Had your presence in his life not mattered to him as much as his presence in yours?
Growing, but I'm just growing tired
You would've liked to say you were a different person than you had been one year ago. You would've liked to be spiteful and show Oikawa Tooru, international volleyball star, that you had outgrown being lovesick and was now independent and successful, with people who truly loved you. You would've liked to tell yourself that you were so, so much better off without him. But that was a lie, and you were not one to lie to yourself.
Now I'm worried for my soul
And I'm still scared of growing old
You had, honestly, tried to get over him though. You'd made yourself pass out from drunkenness only to wake up the next morning with a pounding headache and the incident more ingrained into your head. You'd busied yourself with cooking, gaming and knitting, and when that hadn't worked, considered a one-night stand from an overly amiable guy you'd just met at the corner café, after deciding against it when one of the girls standing in front of the window outside sent you two a deathly stare. You'd stacked all of his belongings and tried to burn them, until you realised your shaky hands couldn't start the lighter properly.
Even if you had forgotten him for a while, a dull, grey, reprieve from the emotions in your head, it wouldn't have been for long; the memories were everywhere. There was the book he'd accidentally spilt his bubble tea in when you snuck up behind him. There was the somewhat-lopsided drawer, a result of when it got stuck and he'd tried to force it in anyway, ending up in the sides breaking. There was the red christmas mug you'd gotten for him; only to realise he'd given you the exact same one, but green. The small bin in your room was full of milk bread wrappers. Even the study desk in the corner reminded you of days where he would try to draw something cute for you- you'd laughed and told him he had all the time in the world to improve.
You were good to me
You were good to me, yeah
That had clearly been a lie. And yet, you couldn't bring yourself to believe the words he'd said to you before he left a year ago were the truth. You had been sure that your relationship was pure, built from the ground on trust and a mutual understanding of each other- you'd respect his love for volleyball, he'd respect your desire to work harder in your career. Sure, he didn't sound like he was lying, but he was THE Oikawa Tooru- a man who held his confident and flippant façade up to the spotlights, letting the light shine on him however he pleased. You needed to know the truth, and like a burning question at the back of your mind, it never disappeared- before you contacted Iwaizumi Hajime, his best friend and your former close classmate, who told you "It was about time you knew the truth". You were glad to have heard those words.
After having a long conversation with Haji (most of it was you cussing), you wanted to hug Oikawa and punch him at the same time.
One decision led to another and the next day, you were standing on an airplane one year after the breakup with a plane ticket clutched in your hands, and a ticket to the Argentina vs Spain match folded up neatly in your purse.
"Try to let him off easy, yeah? He hasn't been at his best ever since he left you. I think he still regrets it."
………………………………………………………………………………………
And I'm so used to letting go
But I don't wanna be alone
There's noise in the stadium, filled with the audience's cheers and camera shutters going off, but drowned out by the silence in his own head. Oikawa lines the ball up to serve, watching the other team, analysing their positions. "Where should I hit?" he thinks to himself. This is his chance to take another set against Spain. If he misses this one, they will have lost the match 3-1, and it would've been his fault. He can't let that happen. The whistle blows, the ball goes up, and he's doing his jump-serve again, feeling the chains around his feet ready to snap taut like always.
But then amidst the bright lights, among the screaming crowd, he sees a flash of white and teal. Time seems to stop, and he floats in the air.
Was't that his Aoba Johsai volleyball jacket from high school? The one that he'd left behind at your house?
At first, he dismissed it quickly, thinking it was another die-hard fangirl who had one made or maybe even someone from his old team, because no way in hell could you be here right now watching him play when he'd walked out of your life and caused you so much pain and heartbreak one year ago. But then he saw the black purse, with a delicate pink floral pattern and gold highlights. The one he'd gotten for you on your birthday. He meets your wide eyes, your name is on his lips as he stares at your form.
But time moves again. And he grunts as his palm makes contact with the ball, making it fly into the corner and the other team turns and gapes at where surely there was a dent in the ground from the impact. They'd taken back a set, the score was 2-2. His team cheers wildly around him. The commentators rapidly fire off about the service ace- something he hadn't been able to do for a long time.
He's still staring at you in mid-air, but then he falls, meets the ground, his legs give out from under him and everything blurs.
You were good to me
You were good to me, yeah
You stare, lips parted as he collapses, slightly rising from your seat from worry. Had his knee gotten any better from before? Would he still be okay? Surely everything he'd worked for couldn't just end from a fall... but you realised if it did, it would've been your fault. You were, after all, the one who distracted him. Something punches you in the gut as you watch him get up, and he looks at you, the expression on his face one of pure shock and something you can't quite decipher. He keeps his eyes on yours as they shrug on his national sports jacket and carry him off, and you stare into his milky chocolate irises until the doors close behind him. Then you're pushing yourself through the crowd of seated anxious girls to find him again.
God only knows where our fears go
Hearts I've broke, now my tears flow
Oikawa finds himself in the hallway staring at the azure blue sky outside the window as a flock of birds soars past. The medics fuss over him, lifting his mildly sore leg and checking it once, twice, and he absentmindedly nods at their questions. There's a commotion at the door at the end of the hallway and he hears your muffled, strained voice. "No, please! I need to see him... you don't understand..." Eyes widening, he lifts himself up and hobbles over to the door at the end of the hallway, ignoring the protests of the baffled medics and guards. He puts his hand on the handle of the door and pushes, finding you arguing with a guard on the other side of the door. He hears his name from you, your voice giving him comfort. He smiles, albeit a broken one but still, a genuine smile, before he falls, his knee giving out again.
But this time, you're there to catch him.
You'll see that I'm sorry
Cause you were good to me
You were good to me
You hold Tooru as he sobs onto your shoulder. His tears cascade down his face as he clings to you, and he knows he doesn't deserve this, doesn't deserve you. Why had you tried to find him, after he broke your heart a year ago? You realise you're crying too when your vision blurs and all you can sense is the warmth from his skin on yours, his smell filtering the air around you. You take a deep breath in, honey vanilla with slight mint curling into your nose. People awkwardly stand by as they watch the reunion, mindful of the emotions and rawness in the air but also aware of the need to relieve pressure from his leg a bit. Eventually, someone bites the bullet and Oikawa sits down against the wall with you on his right. "You came here from Japan." Tooru hoarsely whispers. "Why?"
Before you could answer, the door opens and his teammate pops his head in, taking note of the people standing uncomfortably around.
"Hey Tooru, are you gonna be able to play?" he speaks in Spanish. He takes sight of you, a girl he's seen somewhere before, sitting next to his friend, and pauses.
"Wait, isn't that the girl on your wallpaper? I thought you said- never mind." He carefully speaks in broken English.
"Anyways, coach says if you're still fine we can send you in." You blink as Tooru puts his arm around you, a pout evident on his face. "I'm pretty sure I'll be able to play (the medic nods along in agreement), just give me a few moments." he answers. His teammate hesitates, nods, and closes the door. Tooru turns his head and rests his head on your shoulder, his fluffy brown hair tickling your neck. You nearly want to cry at what his teammate just told said. "Oh, Tooru..."
"You still haven't answered the question," he tells you. "Iwa-chan must've told you that I left because you deserved more than someone who couldn't be here for you. I don't deserve you, y/n-chan. You deserve to be happy, and... I'm not the one." He tucks away your air behind your ear. "But now that you're here, I can't help but want to be selfish. I want us to be together. I still want you."
You can't help laughing quietly at him, the little pout forming on his face again. "Oh Tooru... you wanted me to be happy. And you thought leaving me so brashly would achieve that? You forgot one very, very important thing." You lean into his shoulder, and play with his calloused fingers.
And now I'm closing every door
Cause I'm sick of wanting more
"If I'm ever to be truly happy..." You tell him, shifting yourself so you're cupping his soft cheeks and looking into his chocolate eyes. "Then you are, absolutely, essential in my life." His heart leaps, soaring at your words. After all that time, you still...
You tut at the dreamlike, adorable expression on his face. "C'mon, Tooru. Don't cry on me now. You've still got a match to win, don't you?" He breaks himself out of his reverie as you lightly pinch his cheeks, and grins ear to ear as you begin to move back to the stands. "Wait, wait." He shrugs his volleyball jacket off his shoulders and hands it to you. "Wear this over that, I want everyone to know you're still mine." You rolls your eyes at his childish request, "Your fangirls are going to kill me, I swear," but comply nevertheless. He's still smiling as he watches his oversized jacket swish around at your mid-thigh as you walk towards the doors. Anything else could come after the match, but for now, this was good enough for him.
You were good to me
You were good to me, yeah
For the rest of that match, for the first time, Oikawa Tooru flies. They do eventually win, 3-2. He's never felt more ecstatic as he pulls you in happily, kissing all over your face and handing you his Most Valuable Player award as you giggle from his childlike antics. The reporters rapidly take note of everything and theres a collective groan from the gaggle of fangirls somewhere, but it's you and him both in your own little world.
Swear I'm different than before
I won't hurt you anymore
Life goes on. You fly back to Japan, with a promise that he would never shut you out again. Sure, you would've preferred it if he was next to you, but you called and messaged each other so frequently that you found you had little to worry about. In rare spaces of time, he flew back to Japan to meet family and friends before spoiling you on dates, decorating your house ("Hey, we need to retake this photo! I'm even better looking now!") or cuddling on the couch together. Every relationship had its downsides, and long-distance relationships were even more a pain, but you were more than ready to take the troubles on if it meant you could still see his smiling face through the messenger call at 1am in the morning.
And you knew this time, he wouldn't stop you from trying.
Cause you were good to me
Making Character Profiles - A Juicy Guide
Sometimes it’s best to keep a fact file about your characters so that you are always working on-model. This is a good idea if you’re going to be drawing your characters or having others draw them for you, but also as a writer. Nothing is more frustrating than realising you got something wrong about your own character in your prose or script piece! It’s especially important for those who work in visual mediums like film, comics or other sequential arts.
I’ve been making character fact files and profiles since I was old enough to write wish-fulfilling Ben 10 fan-fiction on scraps of lined paper. I’ve learned a lot over the years about how to put together the most cohesive files for long-term use, and I’m simply going to share a few tips and basics on how to improve and streamline your fact files! I hope this can be helpful for someone, in the very least - whether you’re creating a fan character purely as a creative exercise, or a major character for your latest project.
Under the cut is a fairly detailed explanation on a few vital things to keep in mind while recording information about your characters.
Firstly, tailor your profile to its purpose.
Are you making something visual or will it just be a text? If you’r going to be drawing or live-action casting your character it may be a good idea to include drawings. You’ll need to make sure you’ve got a thorough understanding of their visual look. This is important to include as reference - character profiles are most useful to yourself, so it makes sense to keep written and visual reference together just to streamline your work process.
Will your character be appearing a lot? You might not want to include a whole lot of information on a character who will only play a minor role. Of course, your main cast will need much more information recorded. It’s a good idea to keep the amount of recorded information in parallel with how much they will appear in your work. This can obviously be adjusted or changed according to the story but as a starting point it may help.
What is the nature of your fiction? If your fictional setting is particularly unique you will need to make sure all universe-related info is included. If you’re working with sci-fi or fantasy for example, there may be a particular faction they belong to or they may belong to a fictional race. Of course, if all your characters are human and from earth these are details that won’t be needed, but the nature of your fiction should play a hand in how much you include. If your story is centred around a war or conflict it may be necessary to note which side they’re on. If it’s closely focused on an emotional arc it might be important to include things like personality alignment and psychological hang-ups. Make sure you’re working to suit your genre or mood.
Question Your Tools
Depending on what kind of writer you are, you may construct your profiles very differently to someone else.
Whatever you find easiest and most efficient to use should be what you always use. Your chosen tools should serve you more than they serve anybody else. Use whatever type of word processor, notebook or writing utensils you prefer when it comes to recording information. Choose a font that you find comfortable to read - most people prefer rounded fonts like comic sans or typewriter fonts, as their eyes can process the characters a little bit faster. If writing by hand, be mindful of your handwriting so that you’re presenting the information in a way that reads very efficiently. For some, whether or not they use cursive can make a big difference based on whether or not they prefer to read cursive. You might even choose to write some things in all-caps or in different colours.
Even your writing utensil can make a difference - does your pen give bold, easy to read characters? Is your font the right size, digitally or on paper, to present the information effectively? Take some time to adjust your formatting so that your character profile will be easy on the eyes for you personally, and will serve as the kind of reference you are most comfortable with.
Ask yourself, is this necessary?
You’ll naturally start by writing out their name, age and other really simple information. Now it’s time to ask yourself what you actually need and what you don’t.
You wouldn’t want to over clutter your profile and make it difficult to refer to. It’s very important that your profile is easy to use as reference. Each time you’re including a statistic or feature ask yourself if it’s necessary. Do you need to include the character’s height to show clear differences when making visuals? Do you need to mention who their family is or will their family not appear in the story? Do you need to mention specifics about their physical appearance or will we not see their face?
Everything you include should be somehow necessary or functional. Whether this is just to aid the visual aspects or to enhance the story’s plot, ask yourself if it’s needed before you include it. Whether or not things are needed will vary based on what you’ll use the profile for, which is why this is the optimal step to take after defining purpose. You will need to create boundaries for yourself based on how much you think would be too much, and how much you actually need.
Precision and Concision.
Not only will you need to ask yourself what information to record, but also in how much detail.
Will you record measurements in metric or imperial? Will you need to include the character’s entire date of birth or just their age? Is there a more concise way to record the same information to make it easier to read and find?
It might be tempting to either rush through the profile and keep things relatively minimal, or to get very stuck in and fill in all fields in a lot of detail. However, both of these can limit the function of your profile. A very bare-bones profile might not contain enough and you may forget to include a detail that’s vital to the story. On the other hand, a profile that’s extremely detailed can become very lengthy and hard to navigate. Both of these problems could slow down your writing process as finding key traits of your character is harder.
It’s usually a good idea to include detail in some fields but not in others, and to write things in an easy to read note format. Including sub-headings in bold font, using lists and brackets, and even using coloured highlighting can help keep your character profile precise and to-the-point. Be mindful while constructing the profile, and trim down wordier phrases into things that are easy to quickly spot and utilise. Try to get as much information as you can into your profile in as few words as you are comfortable with using.
Serve your profile’s function efficiently by trying to store just the right amount of information and formatting it in whatever user-friendly way that you prefer.
Put it somewhere that serves you.
Where you put your character profiles is an equally important thing to think about, because it will depend on your work flow.
Some artists prefer to keep accounts on sites like DeviantArt and ToyHouse, where they store and share information on their characters easily. This can be extremely useful for the creator who frequently collaborates - if you commission artworks and writing about your characters often it may be a good idea to create a page like this. You could even build yourself a website with a free hosting service, create an online document via something like google documents or create a password-protected tumblr page. This will depend on how private you want the information to be. Some sites, like World Anvil for example, exist specifically to store information on your fictional universe. This is recommended for those who will be building anything expansive.
If you’re working on your project especially privately, you might never need to use the internet to store these things. Maybe creating a folder on your computer to store all the image and/or text files will serve you nicely enough. Maybe a physical notebook will work for you, if you prefer analogue work over digital. This is a good idea if you are nervous about information being lost or stolen.
Make sure you are thoughtful in where you store your character information - maintaining your particular work flow can be vital for creatives depending on how motivation works for their particular brain.
Best Resume Writing Services
While still of major importance, the majority of queries are no longer about functional versus chronological resume styles, whether to keep or remove experience from twenty-five years ago, or whether to include dates of education. And there is the best resume writing services. Don't add your hobbies to your resume. Default fonts such as Garamond, Helvetica, Book Antiqua, or Verdana are better choices. Technology is now in use at most medium and larger employers to help manage job applicants. You must ensure that the achievements you include are relevant and significant so that a reviewer won't read it and say "who cares." This is so important. If your title has been Branch Manager at each of your past three companies, find a way to differentiate each of these positions and highlight your most notable accomplishments. They both have very different skill sets which need to be highlighted in very different ways in order to be effective. Nearly 75% of all applicants for any position are easily removed in this initial screening process.
Avoid over the top statements that make you sound like you saved the universe. Add to that the best resume writing services. 3. Always be specific. For example, while it may be fine to include the phrase "computer literate," you will also want to list the specific software that you are proficient in using. It is the hardest form of persuasive writing. In my experience, it can do more harm than good. For example, I once received a resume from a programmer, however the only thing I remember from it was that they attended clown college and competed in national juggling competitions. Default fonts such as Garamond, Helvetica, Book Antiqua, or Verdana are better choices. You could have a comedy show with some of the statements people make on their resumes. However, many recruiters and employers still prefer the MS Word file format, because this is the format they are most familiar with.
One sentence to market yourself. And don't forget the best resume writing services. No wonder there is so much confusion! In just a few short years, there has been a complete revolution in the tools and techniques of job hunting. There are several types of electronic resumes, but the common element of all is the ability to be searched by keyword. Still confused? My recommendation is to simply maintain two separate versions of your resume: There are fundamental formatting differences between traditional and electronic resumes. Available for viewing around the clock, conveying a technology-savvy image, and allowing the ability to add supporting content to your resume (effectively creating an online portfolio promoting your qualifications), web resumes are becoming a progressively important tool in the job search.   However, the Profile or Experience Summary section has completely replaced the Objective section. Further complicating things, have been the increasing availability of personal web space for online resume portfolios and biographies.
Try to put yourself in the shoes of the hiring manager and ask yourself what they would see as important. And in this economy, the number of applicants you are competing against means that you need leverage every advantage you can get. This is one of the most common areas of confusion, so I'll state it once again...the content of a keyword resume does not need to differ from the content of your traditional resume. Again, vagueness will often work against you here because it cheapens the experience of reading your resume. Just as you would hope the employer is not lying to you about the job requirements, salary, etc, they expect you are not lying to them about your background and/or skill sets. It's OK to reinforce themes, but don't push it. For this reason, if given the choice of sending an MS Word file and Adobe PDF file, always opt for Adobe PDF. Write a Novel and Call it a Resume - I repeat: Do NOT write a novel and call it a resume.
My advice is to highlight only those aspects of your background which are most applicable for the job, or types of jobs, you are planning to apply for. Anyways, you will find the best resume writing services. The computer reader - The electronic or computer-optimized resume is designed, first and foremost, to be readable by the computer. It is much easier to read and even easier to skim, which is what hiring managers are doing most of the time anyways. There are several types of electronic resumes, but the common element of all is the ability to be searched by keyword. Traditional resume - If you wish to send a hardcopy, paper version of your resume you should send your traditional resume. For example, if you say you have 6 years of experience with Java programming or accounts payable, an employer should be able to go one-by-one through your position write-ups on your resume and identify those 6 years by themselves. Technology is now in use at most medium and larger employers to help manage job applicants. Scannable resumes are very rarely requested any more.
1. Using your word processing program, open your word-processed resume and use the "Save As" function to save a copy as a "Text Only" or "ASCII (DOS)" document.  Plus they have the best resume writing services. Furthermore, if you incorporate a professional summary and bulleted list of qualifications in the text of your resume, there is little if any need to prepare a separate keyword summary. Why? It is a quick 3-4 sentence overview of your qualifications. Use Bullet Points - When it comes time to explain your experiences in your resume, use bullet points to outline your accomplishments. And hiring managers see right through that! Technology is now in use at most medium and larger employers to help manage job applicants. It's your only chance to make a memorable first impression and I can tell you right now that if you do not take your resume seriously, then your resume will never be TAKEN seriously. By far, you'll find that the most requested format for your traditional resume is MS Word. If you comply with the request, be aware that your formatting may be incompatible with the recipient's system.
The Moth and the Flame (Pt. 1)
Tumblr media
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x female!HoH!enhanced!Reader - Avengers x female!HoH!enhanced!Reader
Summary: Reader is a new member of the Avengers team, and encounters quite a few challenges being the only HoH (hard of hearing) member of the team, but Bucky tries to help. Yet, they’re both unaware of the challenges to come.
Warnings: none !! ((but there will be tons of angst later on))
Word Count: 1.5K
A/N: y’all get two fics this week !! i’ve never written for a HoH/d/Deaf character before so if any of y’all have any tips, please feel free to message me or comment! i would really appreciate feedback on this one (“: i would’ve put the signing parts in italics, but a lot of the dialogue is with signing, so it’s written in regular dialogue formatting !! if y’all want, you can submit requests and i can incorporate them into this series !!
The first thing you notice about the compound is the large, gorgeously crystal-clear windows that form most of the walls of the main building. A warm summer breeze brushes gently over your skin and dances through your hair as you follow Tony Stark and another woman, and interpreter, up the sparkling stairs to the main entrance of the intimidatingly fancy building.
“We’re going to meet the rest of the team first, and then we’ll show you where your room is,” the interpreter turns to you and signs calmly with a small smile tugging at her lips before Tony opens the door.
You nod back with a polite smile in return, but on the inside, your thoughts were racing a million miles a minute as you worry about what the others will think of you.
What if I’m not enough? What if they think I can’t handle my own in a fight? Or if I can’t cover them in a battle? What if -
You trail behind Tony and the interpreter and blink, shaking away your frantic thoughts. You’re led down a seemingly endless hallway until you take a turn down another hallway and can see people standing around in a room at the end of it. You immediately recognize all of their faces, and can recall their names.
A ringing overpowers the limited hearing ability you have, and you tap your fingers against the side of your thigh nervously as you step into the room, all eyes on you as you see Tony’s mouth movie out of the corner of your eye. The interpreter takes a few steps in front of you and turns her back to the group of people to face you.
“Y/N, these are the rest of the team members,” she signs. “The rest of the team, this is Y/N. Give her a warm welcome.”
You force a tight smile to the group and wave.
“Hey. My name is Y/N,” you take time to sign out your name while keeping your mouth shut tight. “It’s nice to meet you all.”
The interpreter then turns to the group and talks to them, then turns back to you. Tony pats the back of your shoulder, jerking you forward a little, and meets your gaze through his sunglasses.
“Go ahead, go mingle,” he grins confidently as you try to read his lips. You nod and return a small smile.
You walk up to a few people, and are immediately pulled into a hug by Wanda Maximoff. Her hair smells like apples and brushes softly over your cheek.
“It’s so wonderful to meet you,” she tells you as she pulls back, releasing you from her welcoming embrace. The next person to greet you is Steve Rogers, and he hands you a glass of water, which you take eagerly with a shaky hand. You take a sip and then set it on the white countertop next to you.
“You’re all so beautiful,” you sign enthusiastically, your nerves calming a little.
“Thank you,” Natasha laughs brightly as she signs.
“Do you know sign?” Excitement bubbles in your chest as you sign back to her.
“Not too much,” she pouts expressively as her hands move quickly. “Only a little bit.”
You nod and flash her a smile before greeting the rest of the room. The last person you meet is Bucky Barnes, the infamous Winter Soldier. When Natasha had released all of the HYDRA files a few years back, you combed every single one, searching for information on the elusive spy, becoming completely entranced by the horrors he was put through. You wished more than anything to take his pain away, and to just understand him.
He strides up to you with a handsome grin plastered on his face and extends a hand towards you - his metal one.
You shake it, butterflies fluttering in your stomach. His hand lingers in yours longer than it should have, and he quickly licks his lips before stuffing his hands back into his pocket, his calm exterior now being invaded by his nerves.
“I think they’re going for dinner,” the interpreter cuts in. “Do you want to join them? Or, do you want to go to your room and settle in?”
“I would rather settle in,” you sign back, nervously shrugging. “Can you tell them it was nice meeting them and I’ll see them in the morning?”
The interpreter nods and turns to the group as you turn around and find a new man holding your bags. He smiles at you and turns down a hallway, and you follow.
Your room was at the end of the hall. A dark, wooden door opened to a gray, naturally-lit room with the farthest wall being - of course - made of crystal-clear glass panes. The space was comfortable, not too large, but not too small, and a queen sized bed already made in black sheets and a blanket rested near the wall to your right, nearly cutting the room in half. The man set your bags next to you, nodded with a polite grin, and took his leave to let you settle into your new home.
You sigh and grab your two bags, tossing them onto the bed. As you start to rustle through them, sorting clothes and folding as you go, you sense a creeping presence behind you, and quickly whip around, only to spot Bucky standing in the doorway, holding a box in his hands.
“Sorry,” you read his lips as you work to register his words. “I didn’t mean to scare you.”
“It’s okay,” you exaggerate the amount of relief through a drop in your shoulders as you sign.
“I, um...,” he shifts his weight nervously from leg to leg before finally deciding to step into the room. “I bought this for you.”
“For me?” You gesture in gentle disbelief, your brows knitting together in confusion.
Bucky silently hands over the box, his hands brushing against yours as he does.
“I thought you’d want something to decorate with,” he sheepishly smirks, watching you closely.
You take off the top and slowly pull away the white, sparkling tissue paper to reveal a gorgeous drawing of a moth formed by geometric patterns and highlighting with rich, gold ink, all contained in a simple, black frame.
“It’s beautiful,” you gape at the artwork in front of you as you sign with your free hand. “Thank you.”
“Steve helped me find it,” he confesses, a slight blush dusting his cheeks. He clears his throat and drops his gaze to the ground, looking at his feet. “So, why don’t you, uh,” Bucky hesitantly looks up at you, a glint of something guarded shining in his eyes. “What don’t you speak?”
A warm blush rises in your cheeks as you try to think of how to explain it to him.
It’s more comfortable for me not to, you confess to his mind.
“You...You can speak in...in my head?” He stares at you, a slightly-frightened look shrouding his stoney complexion.
Yes, you whisper back in response. It’s my gift.
“How much can you hear?” Bucky’s eyes glint with interest and sincerity as he watches your face shift. “Can you read lips? Why don’t you just use your ability to communicate all the time?”
You giggle at his questions and bite your cheek as you try to think of the best way to answer them.
It’s easier for me to read lips in quieter places, like here, because I can still make out some words and tones, you explain telepathically. But, in busier places, I have to sign all the time, and have to ask the other person to write out what they’re trying to tell me, too. It’s also harder for me to hear when I get really anxious or nervous. But I don’t always use my ability because it takes up a lot of energy, a lot more than lip-reading does.
“That sounds really draining,” Bucky chuckles gently as he tries to recover from his awkwardness.
A big grin spreads across your face and you glance up to meet his gaze again. You reply with a playful shrug.
“Well, I’ll see you tomorrow?” Bucky asks with a quirk of his brow.
“Yeah,” you sign. “Tomorrow.”
He turns and leaves with a smile that’s so deliciously comforting you nearly melt into the carpet beneath your feet, the work of art in your hands nearly radiating with warmth.
Maybe this could be a good thing, you think, smiling quietly as your eyes breeze over the picture once more before you hang it on the wall above your night table, next to your bed.
Who knew a moth could be so beautiful, you sigh contentedly, then return back to organizing your things into piles, thoughts of Bucky drifting in and out of your mind up until you fall asleep.
Work from home has enabled a new workflow for the majority of folks. No working directly with co-workers and take coffee breaks in the office. Also, sharing sensitive documents and passing files among employees online has become a bit stressful. After all, you won’t want any third-party to get access to the latest quarterly earnings, sales report, or your hard-earned client lists. For security, add a layer of authentication on PDF files you share in Slack, Zoom, or Skype.
One can upload the PDF file to OneDrive and add an expiry time to a shared weblink. Or even better, you can add a password and limit the PDF access to a specific group of people.
Windows and macOS offer native options to password protect PDF. If you are not happy with the built-in solution, then you can always opt for a third-party app from the web. Let’s get started with Mac.
Top 3 Fixes for Camera Not Working on Windows 10 PC
A password can prevent others from harming you. Nonetheless, it is better to password protect excel that you never store quite sensitive information in an Excel spreadsheet. Exactly why? For a straightforward reason, Excel passwords can easily be cracked. It is because Excel uses it.
If you must use Excel to save sensitive info, then it certainly is more advisable to utilize the version of Excel, which is Excel 2010 or Excel 2013. The old Excel’s release, the easier it. It doesn’t even matter how complicated or long it, anything might be deciphered.
It is possible to avoid unauthorized users by password-protecting that your Excel workbook. Now you set a password to launching the Excel workbook file once you’re managing a recorder whose information is a satisfactorily sensitive and painful temperament. It is only a particular set in which the corporation should have accessibility to it.
When you place the password demanded to start up the Excel workbook,
this password must be supplied by you to those people who want access as a way to make it feasible for them to open up the workbook file.
Now you specify a password for changing the Excel workbook whenever you are dealing with a spreadsheet whose information needs to be viewable and printed by distinct users. But, not one of whom is authorized to make improvements to any of the entries.
By way of example, you may assign a password before distributing it companywide. All the indicated changes are merged along with soon right after the workbook’s experienced a complete editing and review cycle to get altering an Excel workbook.
So, here in this guide, we are going to discuss how to set the password to protect an excel file. Here we start:
Next, protect your entire workbook.
To do this, just simply click the file, then conserve. After the file-save window appears, type on your document name then decides on the instrument’s decline down menu. From that menu, then pick out General possibilities.
In case you then attempt and save changes together with the Save button on the Quick Access toolbar or Document Save control,
the program displays an alert dialog box, indicating that the file is read-only so you need to save a copy by renaming the document from the Save As dialog box.
As soon as you just simply click okay to clean the notify dialog box, Excel displays the Save As dialogue box, in which you can save yourself the copy. Be aware that this program instantly gets rid of the password that its contents can be modified by you almost any method you prefer to get changing from the copy.
You may assign passwords for modifying files as assigning them because a workbook against modification doesn’t block you from launching the paper and rescuing a variant As command.
Appointing a password assures you that you’ll always have a complete original of this dictionary from which you may start and store copy, even when you will never be able to keep in mind the password itself.
Important considerations
You will find three things to Stay in mind before you start password shielding all your workbooks:
– Anybody with all a password to directly modify the paper may also eliminate the password security. Use this specific option sensibly; be more careful who you give the password.
– Casual users won’t possess the knowledge to crack your password,
but anyone could purchase password cracking software. Your ideal protection against this type of tampering (or blatant theft) is always to assign. A ridiculously extensive password of random personalities.
– Doing so won’t conquer specialized applications. However, it is going to slow down it along with then delay might trigger. The would-be cracker to place your workbook. About the flip side, it guaranteed to annoy your users. Assessing the two needs can be a tiny high-wire act. For a lot more on this particular subject, read robust Accounts practical or debatable.
– If you neglect your password, you can’t enter your workbook and create improvements. However, you can purchase the password-cracking program.
The password protection of excel is a great feature, and it’s simple to employ. Simply don’t confuse it and also, from all means, do not depend solely to secure vulnerable info.
In this article, we briefly discussed how to set a password to protect an excel file. Do read them patiently and use them to your benefits.
Why Digital Marketers are Pivotal for Every Business
Tumblr media
Nearly five years ago, Google in collaboration with IPSOS Hong Kong claimed that businesses using digital marketing could see 2.8X more revenue growth than those who did not use the Internet.(stats). Thanks to the growth of the internet and social media, the gap between companies that use digital marketing for business and the ones that don’t is likely to have widened considerably since then. In fact, businesses — regardless of their size — are leaning towards the digital arena. They are spending more on digital compared to “traditional” marketing tactics, as The CMO Survey shows.
And it’s not hard to see why. Confronted with new trends and rising competition, companies are trying to survive and grow in an era where they are required to adapt more quickly than ever. Digital marketing tools and techniques are allowing them to promote their products and services to a much larger audience without spending a fortune.
Digital marketing costs less, yet shows promise of much higher reach and engagement levels. When digital campaigns go viral and are shared by your audience, it can be as effective as a powerful word-of-mouth marketing campaign!
Contrary to this, traditional marketing has always involved big investments in terms of manpower and resources — something that only big brands could afford. Being an affordable and effective alternative, digital marketing has levelled the playfield, enabling small companies to compete with the big sharks.
Digital marketing is perfect for businesses of all stripes
Tumblr media
The beauty of digital marketing not only lies in the fact that it work for all sizes of companies, but also that it can be leveraged by companies of any type, of any industry, and targeting almost any demographic. However, it takes the right digital skills and marketing know-how to create digital campaigns that make waves.
Take Vicks India’s brilliant campaign for example. They launched a video #TouchOfCare, a movie about the meaning of family in today’s context. The movie showed how two people, not related by blood, could be a happy family. Their Facebook post got more than 2.5 million views and was shared more than 34,000 times!
Clearly, their effective digital marketing strategycoupled with their ability to understand and capitalise on consumers’ emotions worked in their favour.
Another brilliant digital marketing strategy was followed by Chu Chu TV — thanks to which it became India’s third most subscribed YouTube channel. Till 2016, they had less than 2 lakh Facebook likes and very little engagement. How did this all change for them, you ask?
Here is where the importance of good digital marketing comes in. They collaborated with a digital marketing agency, echoVME and garnered digital presence by introducing interactive content in formats ranging from Puzzles and Live Facebook to Memes.
There is great power in an individual narrative, and case study campaigns can really help build your brand and garner the trust of your audience. And digital marketing is the platform where stories can really go viral.
Adidas’s #FanTheFire campaign followed an 18 year old Indian athlete aiming for a medal in Figure skating. The story is narrated by the athlete’s mother who believes “this dream is not yours alone, but ours”. Adidas’ aim was to highlight athletes and sports which were not mainstream, and to appeal to a larger humanity. Their digital marketing experiment was highly successful and remains one that can be learnt from.
Marketing skills in the age of digital
Tumblr media
The future of digital marketers is bright, with traditional marketers finding it inevitable to switch to the digital platform. Traditional businesses are at the risk losing out to their digital counterparts, which is whyforward-thinking companies are shifting gears. For example, Hamdard — one of the oldest companies in India — launched its latest digital campaign,‘Ghulke Jiyo’ for its iconic Rooh Afza brand earlier this year.
It’s also an example of how brands are taking digital more seriously, rather than considering it supplementary to their traditional marketing efforts. Also worth noting is the fact that companies like Hamdard that have big marketing budgets are opting to go online as a way to reach consumers on new digital platforms, where they are spending ever more of their time.
Not long ago, online marketing and particularly, social media was something that brands would ask their interns — or just about any employee —to handle. That trend is changing. Today, as digital is becoming an irreplaceable pillar of the marketing industry, companies are looking to hire specialized talent to support them in their digital journey. And, digital marketing tops the list of most in-demand expertise. The global consultancy Mondo estimates the demand for digital marketing professionals to increase by 38% this year.
Unfortunately, many marketers these days lack digital skills, while digital marketers often don’t have a strong background in marketing. We need to bridge the gap between the two.
Because digital skill set is a prized possession for any business looking to succeed today, learning digital marketing skills is a great career move for both, new and established marketers. The good news is, their marketing knowledge gives them a natural advantage when picking up digital marketing skills.
However, it’s important to remember that certificates don’t always get you the digital marketing skills you’re looking for. Often it’s more than that. Becoming a successful digital marketer takes experience and constant experimentation — whether you’re certified or not.
With studies suggesting that84% of Millennial don’t trust traditional marketing, there’s a huge scope for digital marketers to create the right impact. This is why digital marketing training is critical for marketers.
