Admiral, my Admiral (2/2)
Pairing: Portgas D. Ace x [gender neutral] Admiral! Reader
Summary: Grieving.
Tags: angsty, but there are hopes
Requested by @1luvcatzs ["ELLO, SO SORRY, LATE. SO SO LATE. FOT THE PART 2 OF MY ADMIRAL- CAN YOU UGM. • Ace survives (somehow)- obviously, I think!! Reader doesn't find out that he's alive until after the two year skip–(...)"]
MASTERLIST
PART ONE
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
• Two years later, your chest still hurt whenever you saw anything that reminded you of Ace
• Your eyes glued to the newspaper on your desk, the ache in your chest intensifying when you saw Strawhat Luffy’s face on it
• A lot of things had changed, but not your feelings, not the way you missed Ace, missed cuddling him, his sweet voice taunting you to give him kisses, but it was all too far away now
• The setting had changed, too. The change of quarters was great, honestly. Many things had changed after the war, not just within yourself, but also regarding things inside the Marine. Moving away from Marineford was suiting, like starting a fresh new page, even if it already had faint marks on it. It hurt, either way. Of course, it did
• It felt like death when you headed back to report to the Revolutionary Army, and you found Sabo. He was also having a breakdown over Ace’s death, much to your surprise, but it felt somehow comforting. It brought everything bubbling up again, and it was probably the first time that you had the opportunity to really feel and grieve Ace’s death without the risk of getting in any sort of trouble, allowing yourself to cry until your chest hurt and no tears fell anymore
• The pain was unbearable whenever someone brought Ace’s death up inside the Marine, being happy about it, glad that Roger’s bloodline was successfully erased. Talking about how Ace deserved to die, or how he should’ve suffered more. Sometimes, it felt like a sick joke whenever they talked about that around you, with twisted grins and glancing at your reaction from the corners of their eyes
• No one was allowed to talk about Ace like that. No one knew him like you did; no one even knew him properly. No one knew how he could be caring and sweet, just wanting to be loved and feel like he deserved his space in the world. You wish you had the opportunity to give Ace more love, that you’d given him more love when you still could, but you just couldn’t.
• The emotional scars remained there through the years, hurting. The physical scars, too. The scar on your hand was a constant reminder, a scar that had resulted from the fight you’d put up when you found out what was actually happening with Ace while the Marine held you across the ocean. The fight that had not been enough. The fight that you lost.
• Sometimes you wondered why you were still kept alive if the Marine really needed you that much. Honestly, sometimes you wanted to leave and let the Marine come after you to kill, but Ace wouldn’t want you to do that, right? You could practically see him beside you, cupping your cheek and giving you comforting kisses
• It was easy to find yourself wondering what would happen if Ace was still alive, still by your side. How he’d probably risk coming over just to see you. Spend nights with you, with pointless talks, or telling you about his days off in the sea. You missed it so much, really. Lying in bed with Ace while hugging each other, only illuminated by the moonlight, whispering sweet things to each other
• Ace would probably still try to get you to quit the Marine, talk about how you deserved a better life, how you deserved to be free and live life properly, and that he was up to helping you with all of it
• At the end of the day, all of it was just daydreaming. Just an attempt to ease the pertinent pain that numbed you throughout the days, but it still managed to leave you empty and crying into your pillow while blaming yourself. You could’ve done more, right? You could’ve suspected something or found a way out of there
• The routine was so monotonous. Work was the only thing that kept you going, even if you refused to engage in a lot of missions that required action. Everything was an unpleasant blur as if a part of you were missing, a lacking wire or something
• Then, you were called for a mission again. Something that required someone from a high post, strong, and to work under secret, and you couldn’t fucking believe Punk Hazard was creating problems again
• Your ship stopped by the cold coast, which was at least better than the hot one, and you could already see trouble in the distance when you stepped on the snow, adjusting your coat
• The island was truly a mess, with people that had gone missing actually there, people who were supposed to be dead now running around, a War Lord, the Strawhats…
• You caught a glimpse of familiar black hair while the fire burned in the corner of one of the labs. You couldn’t see properly through the debris, nor could you hear a lot through the loud and incoherent shouts and chatter that filled place, but you could swear that you’d seen that loving face spotted with freckles before the crowd dispersed, and you were forced to move
.𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟.

Dadan loved all of her brats equally, but Ace death had to hit her so fucking hard because as shitty as Ace was when angry, as rude and violent they'd be with each other, as frequent the insults and fights and 'I ain't doing the laundry, old hag!' were, as strained her relationship with him could be at times, Dadan had raised him since he was a baby.
again, not to say she cared more about Ace, or held him on dearer level than Luffy and Sabo, but almost from the very moment he was born until he was ten, the only thing Ace could semi-call a family was her and the Dadan family. at first she probably couldn't give less of a shit about a baby she didn't want and now was under her care, she probably told the rest of the mountain bandits to look after him, that maybe she owed Garp, but this was crossing the goddamn line. but at some point she would get so annoyed at the constant cries of both the baby and the bandits that she would be the one doing almost everything Ace related.
imagine if Ace wouldn't and couldn't fall asleep unless Dadan was the one to held him, if he didn't grab a handful of hair to remind himself who was the one rocking him then he wouldn't stop crying, Dadan knew a handful of things about babies, so imagine how proud and happy that he wouldn't babble uncomfortably anymore she was when patting him in the back helped him with colics. yes she liked when the brat would shut up but she didn't mind it that much when he started talking, and yeah, whatever, maybe her heart did this weird shit were it felt extremely full when his first word was something close to her name.
imagine when he started walking, when he started to play by himself outside, all of the Dadan family was involved when it came to Ace, since with time they got the hand of raising a child, but Dadan, who loved to pretend she was annoyed by Ace's very existence, was the first to raise when Ace fell, she didn't help him, but she did scold him and everyone understood what she meant by 'stop being so reckless you little shit!'
imagine, too, when Ace's heart started to grow with hate around it, when he started to spend less and less time inside and instead went around asking what they called The Question, when he went from seven to eight to nine to ten just hunting and going all the way to the Gray Terminal beating the shit out of most people. Dadan knew the brat since he was the chubbiest, baldest and loudest baby ever and now, now Ace, far too young to be worrying about the significance of his own life, wouldn't even look at her when he explained what he spent his day doing, at that point what could she do, really? her, who only gave him a roof and food because she was scared of the man who told her to take him in, Ace wasn't his father and the bastard sins weren't his to bear, and yet, yet he still had his blood on him. his mother should be there with him, not a mountain bandit who didn't know what to say to make the kid understand he wasn't a mistake
he was the devil's son, and her life would probably be better if she never knew the brat in the first place, and even so, she spent her every waking moment worrying about him and the life he'd led when he grew up. Dadan raised him, from a baby to an angry child to a caring teenager, the good that started to be his normal certainly wasn't thanks to her, but she was still there for him, so she thinks that counts for something
Ace thought about her on his last moments, Dadan would never stop thinking about the brat she took the liberty to call hers.

Hello dear, I was wondering if you can do some yandere for the very infamous OP men shanks, mihawk,ace,and sabo with normal y/n who's younger than them in separate senariors..
Y/N traits : innocent, sweetheart, warm personality, enchanted beauty with extremely cutie pie face and amazing warm and calm voice that melts the snow from its sweetness it's make anyone feel at ease only by hearing it , it's one of the most reasons why those men had gone insane over her ,why they want to possess her at any cost .
TY and have a good day ☺️.
TW/CW: Yandere, Age gap is up to 3 years, obsession, implied murder, implied poisoning, mention of murder & arson, manipulation (for Sabo)
Notes: I'll be honest I have no clue how to do an innocent reader. And it's gonna be GN Sorry I don't particularly do Female readers Also sorry for not writing in so long :^
Tumblr media
Shanks
Shanks was a popular Model, he can flirt with anyone without hesitation.
Then there was you, you weren't popular at all. When he saw you he felt the urge to just... Take you.
He felt jealous of the guys around you that soaked in your attention, in your voice and innocence and especially your beauty.
He just needed it. Needed you.
Eventually he started obsessing over you trying to find every photo there was of you, eventually it got worse
Just hope for both your innocence and sanity you don't meet him.
Until you did.
And suddenly you started to notice people around you get killed, you somehow trusted the red bloody haired man with your safety.
"You'll be fine I'm here after all! All you need is me sweetheart."
After all what did you know?
You're innocent after all
And that's what made Shanks' job of getting you to be his more easier.
Mihawk
Mihawk was a famous swordsman and you were always interested in swords so naturally you took interest in Mihawk.
Unfortunately he took a interest in you as well.
You ended always staying behind the classes because of how much trouble you had with sword, you'd have small conversations with Mihawk.
Slowly Mihawk started to know everything about you and wrote of it down in a notebook that was always locked in a case.
When someone annoyed you too much or confessed to you they suddenly would fall ill and be unable to attend.
Due to Mihawk naturally being cold people didn't notice anything different about him and you didn't know better.
Though you slowly started to blame yourself because people around you would get ill and naturally they ended up dying to the illness.
"My dear... It's not your fault, they naturally fell ill. It is not your fault and anyone who is saying such things is a horrible person who is just jealous. It is unfortunate they fell ill yes but there was nothing you could do. My dear..."
You never knew why they fell ill, and you may never know.
Maybe it's better if you never did anyways.
Ace
Ace was Ace, he's a popular play boy in the town but all he did was flirt and play with hearts.
That was before you came along.
He knew he needed you once first meeting your eyes.
You were most certainly more cuter than anyone else's hearts he's played with.
He wasn't gonna break your heart, no. He could never, he was gonna make sure he was the only one in your heart not matter what he had to do.
He would do whatever you wanted to do or needed.
He'd gladly kill with no hesitation.
Want him to stab that guy who catcalled you? Done.
Want him to burn down a place that has bad memories? Done before you could mention it.
No one went near Ace when the missing people news started getting known, knowing how cold he got when it came to that, they tried to warn you how cold he could be.
You always laugh it off and hang out with him anyways.
He'd act like nothing was happening.
Why read the news when you already know it before anyone else?
You wake up from your nap when you started hearing the news "Mmmh?" Ace turns off the Tv "Don't worry about it my love just go back to sleep."
Sabo
Sabo was the second in command of a powerful business.
Once you joined everything changed.
However unlike the other three Sabo wouldn't kill, no. Sabo wouldn't want his hand or gloves dirty and blood stains too.
Sabo would figure out your favorite things to do and food and everything and give it all to you.
He'd spoil you with everything you'd ever wanted.
He'd help you with a lot of things
He sublely manipulates you into being dependent on him and him alone.
No one would dare go near you if they cared for their job or reputation.
No one went near Sabo either, Sabo didn't mind this, it just meant he could give all his attention to you.
He tested it once day by hiding on purpose.
When you realized Sabo wasn't there you got really nervous and got a bit upset, until Sabo popped
 up and helped you again which you immediately calmed down when he did.
Sabo smiled at you, he was glad that his plan was working and working well.
"Please don't leave me alone..." "I promise I won't ever again my angel..." "Thank you Sabo." "Anything for you. My sweet Angel."

— Ace never understood the impact you had on him. (Gn reader, 2nd pov)
words : 599
warnings : none, fluffy angsty, takes place after Ace's departure, minor character from One Piece Episode A spoilers, Ace is an idiot who doesn't understand his feelings that's it.
Tumblr media
Ace never understood the impact you had on him. He was so used to you annoying him with something that he didn't really want to know. Or the way you plagued his thoughts at night. Or the 'girly' games you forced him to play with Sabo and Luffy when you were kids. Such as house, tea parties, kitchen and office.
(He enjoyed playing office as he got to play the boss, but he will never admit it. Though he hated playing kitchen the most)
He hated it.
He hated the fact that you always got your way.
He hated the ache in his heart that came when he was alone. And by god, it always disappeared when you'd be around.
Everything about you tormented him. (It was in a good way. He is just dramatic)
And someone noticed it.
Deuce knows something is bothering his captain. He looked as if he had been kicked in the face and was defeated by some five year old kid. Almost like a puppy, but he would never say that to his hot-headed and short-tempered but loveable captain's face. Deuce likes his face the way it is.
Deuce knows about Ace's drunken ramblings of his little brother Luffy. He can recite Luffy's childhood and information he didn't need to know word to word because of his captain. Hell, maybe the other crewmates could do that, too.
But when his captain is drinking alone and away from the rambunctious party (surprisingly), Deuce sees the way he gets weird. It's almost as if he is missing something. He wonders if it's one of the girls from the islands they had visited. Did one of them catch his attention? Though he was always dismissive of them.
Maybe it was a man? Or was he just missing his brother?
But when he seemed so melancholic, he talked about someone who wasn't his brother.
Ace doesn't know who or what you really are to him. You aren't his sibling, nor are you his crewmate. You are close to him but not in the same way Luffy is or as Sabo was. Or the way Deuce is close to him.
He thinks you are his friend, but his heart says that's not right. He can not pinpoint the feelings he has regarding you.
There are no relations between you and him, but he feels something weird.
And it burns. Like an uncontrollable wildfire, his heart hurts and soothes. Like a storm that demands attention, whether he likes it or not.
He remembers every word you ever said to him.
"Don't you forget it, Portgas D. Ace, whatever happens, don't get scared. No matter what anyone says, I'll wait for you."
Ace doesn't get scared. He isn't afraid of death. (He thinks death to him is better), but a part of him believes you. That you would truly wait for him and all the years he spent with you were not a cruel joke or a dream he made up.
He doesn't understand what you do to his heart.
He remembers that he once asked you if you would still be friends with him if he was a monster.
"Ace is Ace just like how I am me and how Sabo is Sabo and Luffy is Luffy."
And his heart burns again.
He thinks he knows what you do to him, and then he doesn't understand it.
Yet, he laughs as if he knows. And a part of him knows.
He thinks he would like to play house with you again, and this time, he wants to be the husband.

Ace x Sabo’s Partner!Reader - Everytime?
A/N: This fic was heavily inspired by this fic by @stephisokay ,, brother Ace has been heavy on my mind I’m not gonna lie. I hope you all enjoy <3
Warnings: Modern AU, afab reader, no pronouns, ace calls reader “goody”, reader works out, cheating, shower sex, oral (f receiving), barely proofread
Words: 1.6k
MINORS DNI.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As soon as Ace heard the shower start, he knew what he had to do.
You, Sabo’s cute partner, one he loved very much and had been with for about half a year now, stepped into the shower to rinse off after the gym this morning. It had been arm day; quite vigorous weight training followed by extensive cardio. The sweat on your whole body had been substantial, and you needed to rinse the soreness away with warm droplets of water.
Ace, your boyfriend’s brother, had other plans.
When Ace saw you waltz through the door, carrying your water bottle and keys, his mind was immediately filled with dirty thoughts of bending you over the bench at the gym and pounding you until you were begging him for mercy– your wispy baby hairs and sweat-covered forehead were enticing to him, somehow, and he almost followed as if he were on a secret mission as you grabbed a new set of clothes from your overnight bag and headed for the bathroom.
He couldn’t believe that you hadn’t closed the door.
He felt like such a perv, but he couldn’t help it; his curiosity got the best of him. He wanted to know what you were hiding under those big t-shirts, toned muscles peeking through the fabric almost as if they were teasing him purposefully.
He watched through the sliver in the door as you undressed, your pants pooling around your ankles before his pupils widened at the sight of your round, robust ass; it was almost as if there were a devil on one cheek and an angel on the other; the first begging him to enter the bathroom and the second imploring him to turn around.
In the end, he listened to the former; those dimples and dips had been singing to him like his favorite song. How couldn't he listen?
He decided to make his move when you entered the shower, sighing as he pushed the door open.
Your head snapped over to the threshold, hands unconsciously moving to cover your most intimate parts. You had just stepped into the warm haven of water before the door was pushed open. You knew your boyfriend wouldn’t be home from work for a good few hours, so the only option of who it could be made your heart drop.
“A-Ace!” You exclaimed, crouching so the wall halfway up the glass of the shower gave you cover, “What are you doing? I’m showering!”
You had always had a good relationship with Sabo’s brother; he was chill, lax, and made you feel comfortable. Right now, however, you wondered what in the hell the man was doing.
“I know!” He cried, putting his hands up defensively, trying to think of an excuse, “I was only looking for the q-tips, and you happened to be in here, and-!” He was such a bad liar and you both knew it.
“If you see me in here, then, why aren’t you closing the door?” You asked, cocking your head to the side. However menacing that was supposed to sound, it only made him take a curious step forward, nose stuck in the air to get a further look at your nude breasts.
“Okay, okay- I lied.”
“I think we both know that by now!”
You found yourself shrinking further behind the wall, wishing you could call on Sabo to get his brother to back off. He had never given you weirdo vibes before… and though his boyish charm was handsome, you were dating his brother…
“I– This has gotta stay between us.” Ace sounded completely serious as he unbuttoned his cargo shorts, glancing up at you as if for permission. Though your eyes widened in shock, you nodded slowly to show that you were okay with this. You felt like a bad person, and perhaps you were, but you couldn’t help but think that what Sabo didn’t know couldn’t hurt him. You watched the black material of Ace’s shorts fall to the tiled floor and you gasped.
“Commando?” You chuckled, watching as he shed the beads from his neck and the socks from his feet. You marveled silently at his size; for such an average sized man his dick was anything but. He sauntered towards the shower with cocky confidence and opened the door with a smirk. “You’re not as a goody-two-shoes as my brother is, I’m guessing.”
He stepped into the threshold of the shower, gasping as you stood to your full height; your breasts were full and hardened, your body muscular and strong and capable; and he could almost see your cunt from where he stood in the shower, if only you’d open your legs just a tad more. “I’m plenty good.”
The smug look in his eyes was almost tangible as he took one last step to you, admiring the curves that didn’t belong to him. “Whatever you say, goody…”
Challenging him, you pressed your chest into the glass of the shower, glancing back at him boldly. Your bottom half was arched and ready for him, your now aching cunt on display for him to explore.
The touch of his fingers against your mound sent a tingle up your spine, and the way he was staring at your cunt, kneeling to lick his lips and lean in closer, only made you more wet. He looked as if he would be willing to do anything for you, sparkling droplets of water shining in his raven locks.
A moan filled the shower while his tongue delved into your folds, relishing in the way your desire pooled onto his tongue like sweet honey. He couldn;t help when the tip of his tongue prodded at your entrance, licking up what he could reach. His fingers were ghosting against your skin, dancing across the snakes and twists of your desperate figure. When he pulled away, though it blended in with the water and was gone in an instant, you saw the line of slick that connected his mouth to your pussy and it made your core throb with even more need than before. “Ace… Please, I need you.”
His warm touch graced your plushy hips, palms enveloping the skin there. You couldn’t help the gasp that escaped your lips, fogging the glass that your palms were flat against it. Both his words and his touches were enough to have you seeing stars, and you were convinced maybe the boys had shared their secrets as teenagers and over the years. The way his hips pressed into yours felt eerily familiar, and you knew immediately by the way his feet notched against yours where he learned this technique. Sabo had done this maneuver many times to you before– pressing you between the wall and his lean hips as he wrapped your thick thews around himself, mercilessly pounding into you, jostling you against the shared wall of his and Ace’s room.
Your feet were being lifted from the floor as you puffed out, “Ace, b-but Sabo-”
A growl left his throat as he perfectly molded his thighs into his hips, positioning his curved cock at your entrance. The toasty water falling over both of your bodies was casting a fog against the mirror, as if it were shielding you from the rest of the world. When you felt his thick head intrude your cunt, you forgot every other place that wasn’t this tiled haven as he pushed in, your thighs hitched around his. “Don’t talk about my brother while I’m fucking you, goody.”
“Oh- fff-fuck~” You moaned, arching your back against his abs, “Your cock is so-”
“Fat?” He laughed, pressing himself in to the hilt, “Long? Amazing?” He began to thrust into your pulsing walls, making you cry out. Your cheek and breasts were pushing into the cool glass of the shower, listening to the wet plaps between the two of your bodies like a perfect rhythm, your moans a harmony behind it. His confidence radiated from him with each propel of his cock into your g-spot. He could practically feel your pussy drooling around his cock, your lips speared so beautifully around his length.
“Ace-” His name had tried to come out as a warning, but it ended up sounding more like a pathetic mewl as he drilled into you from behind. You were thankful he was on the same page as you as far as keeping this away from Sabo– You knew it would only lead to trouble if he found out his brother fucked you while he was at work. Somehow, though, that made you feel even more horny, your body now thrusting itself back onto Ace’s cock in a desperate attempt to feel him deeper. He could tell you were caught between a rock and a hard place, your moans quieting into whines, so he leaned down and released your thighs, letting you stand on your own as he fucked you.
“Don’t worry, goody,” he muttered into your ear, the way his wavy black mat of hair looked under the droplets of water was even sexier than his usual handsomeness, his brow furrowed as he rigorously fucked you, “I’ll make sure this stays between us, every time-”
His words were cut off by a loud moan of his name, reverberating from your own mouth. You were cumming around him, thighs shaking and calves struggling to keep you held up as he continued at his harsh pace to overstimulate you, the mischievous bastard.
He only stopped once his own cock was spewing his spend, painting your insides with his seed. He knew you took birth control, your alarm always going off during your smoke sessions, so he had no need to worry.
“Every.. Time?” you panted, breaths hot as you turned to him with doe eyes.
“Well of course, goody. Didn’t you like the motion of my ocean?”

Ohh my God the most recent comic, when it's spelled out like that, speed running paradise, fighting an admiral sun God thing happening way early than any of this should be it's any wonder ace isn't in worse shape in this let alone seeing sabo again because it's two years early and he would probably be fresh into white beard crew im picturing *jinbei the warlord I just finished fighting days on end to exhaustion is joining your crew?* "I give up, it's too much at once, there are to meany others to be more concerned about" their concern on white beards ship should be warning about black beard before the bastard gets the 1st stupid strong devil fruit.
YEYSYEYSYESYEYSYRFSEUDYGTYUHSDOGUHFDGUDFUH!!!!!! Like I drew Ace getting kinda choked up in the second page when listing things because,,, man he really was worried. I dont think he was like losing sleep type worried until he found out Luffy and his gang had a pretty intense encounter with an admiral.
It's only been like 1.5 to 2 years since Ace last left Dawn Island and sparred with Luffy, so even if he's improved a lot, there just cant be any way his 15 year old baby brother would be able to handle an Admiral- HECK he can barely handle an admiral. So when he found out they had an encounter, I assume his stomach just dropped and full on big brother freak out mode started happening.
Like he always had a mild worry niggling in the back of his mind, but Ace has his own adventures and his own nakama now, he's got stuff to do and at the pace Luffy is going at, it seems like explanations will be coming soon anyways.
Luckily this whole admiral encounter thing happened shortly before Luffy found Ace again, because every second Ace was waiting on Whitebeard's ship after he found out about it was another second away from Ace just going completely ballistic and shooting off to find his baby bro. The Whitebeards were real good at getting Ace to just calm down and wait a bit, soo good job to them :D! Though, that like idk,,, week or two??? (im not good with timeframes tbh), that he was just waiting to see if his brother was okay was prolly one of the worst weeks of his life.
U know I really debated if I was making Ace recognise sabo too quickly and if I was making him like too emotional or what not,,, but like YEA HE'S SO CONFUSED AND TIRED AND WORRIED!!!! IF THOSE BROTHERS DONT SPEND THE NEXT HOUR JUST SOBBING AND GRASPING AT EACHOTHER LIKE NO ONE ELSE EXISTS THAN I DONT KNOW WHAT I'LL DO!!!!!!

HIII, how are u doing?? hope everything's fine! I've just read the reverse strawhats au and I LOVE IT SO MUCH OMG YOUR BRAAAAAIIIN
if you'd like to share it, do you have plans about sabo and deuce's role in the au? I'm. totally normal and not insane at all about sabo haha (lies) so I'm very curious about what would have changed about his backstory (if anything) and how he would react to luffy's death and seeing ace again (which is gonna leave me an emocional wreck because omg their little brother DIED- that was their baby brother that they swore they'd protect and now he's dead and won't be able to realize his dream and sabo wasn't even there and ace had to see his baby brother die in his arms and was all alone and the GUILT that'd be eating sabo up would be just... GOD... and ace wondering why sabo left and didn't contact him at all during all these years... if that's even his brother at all or someone pretending to be him and ace would be livid!!)
as you can see I'm perfectly sane about the asl brothers. anyways! I'm also curious about what would have become of deuce if he didn't meet ace, would he even be a pirate at all? do they have any conection?
I loooveee your ideas for this au, thank you so much for sharing it with the world, we all appreciate it !!
🐝
Hello my friend, I’m doing well.
Ohhhh thank you so much!!!!
Oh Sabo and deuce my beloveds.
I have to be honest with you. I haven’t got to Sabo yet. I know his story beats but I’m just not there yet. So everything I say is still very fluid as it might change once I met him and get a firmer grasp on his character.
That being said I love everything you have here!!!
Right now I have Sabo mostly the same. He still grows up with Ace and Luffy. Still gets blown up by the celestial dragons. And still ends up with the revolutionary army.
Things will change a little. Luffy is executed for being Dragon’s son (and for a familiar straw hat on his head) I need to get through Marineford before I can speak on this to much. I don’t know if I want the revolutionary army showing up to Marineford.
Because it plays out two ways right now.
One Shanks comes to save Luffy, with support from Whitebeard
Shanks still has his connection to Luffy. He loves this kid. And the Marines are trying to kill Luffy before he even gets started. Not happening.
Whitebeard joins in because Ace is his boy. Ace might bot be part of the crew but for two-three years Ace’s crew has been hanging around the Whitebeards. They have an alliance. Whitebeard knows of Luffy. Knows that’s Ace’s baby brother. And he was captured by Blackbeard. Blackbeard is a Whitebeard problem. He wants to handle it ‘in house’
So those two show up. Shanks to save Luffy and Whitebeard to protect Ace’s baby brother while also ‘fixing’ what Blackbeard did. (Luffy shouldn’t die because Whitebeard trusted the wrong people)
Obviously Ace shows but the rest of the crew is separated.
What else happens is up in the air at this moment.
The second option is that the revolutionary army shows ups as well
Shanks and Whitebeard still roll in for the reasons stated above
But Dragon doesn’t want his son to die. (He loves his son. He just can’t be with him) so he sends some of his men.
Originally they were going to break Luffy out of Impel Down but Ace messed up their plans.
A small branch of the Revolutionary army fights at Marineford. They can’t come at full force. Dragon can’t sacrifice that much for ‘selfish’ reason. But he would put someone he trust in charge of it. Sabo
I can see him going with a mask on so no one knows his face. After all he still wants to keep his identity a secret for now.
Maybe he runs into Ace in Impel Down. And it’s horrible déjà vu. He’s been having an awful headache since he first saw Luffy’s picture and being around Ace makes it so much worse.
He doesn’t get his memory back until he’s at Marineford and hears Luffy and Ace calling for each other. Sees them fighting Side by side. And his brain kicks back in. And it’s to much. His visions going out but he can’t stop. These people are important to him. He doesn’t fully grasp why but he has to save them.
Just in time for 🍩 to happen.
He passes out and has to be saved by Koala (probably still making decisions)
When he comes to he finally has all of his memories. And Ace and Luffy were right there when he passed out. He needs to find them!
Only for him to be handed a news paper with THAT picture in it.
And he knows he’s failed. And he thinks both of his brothers are dead.
How could he fail? He had been with Ace. They were going to save Luffy. How could he fail? How could he not remember them earlier? If he had would he have succeeded? Taken risks where he didn’t? Fought harder? He and Ace would have coordinated better that’s for sure.
But none of that matters because his brothers are dead.
Or so he thinks until he a few days later when the news shows Ace’s return to Marineford.
Ace is alive! But where is he? And how can Sabo ever face him again? He can’t even say he wasn’t there, he was and he failed both of them.
Again this is a loose idea. I still need to get through this part of the show. Ace and Sabo won’t officially meet till dressarosa where they have a LOT to work through either way.
(As you can tell I’m very normal about the ASL brothers as well)
As for Masked Deuce!!!!
I have a few ideas I’m chewing on for him. But my current favorite is to Kobyfy him.
Ace still meets Deuce on Sixis and they get off the island together. And make their way to Shell town. On the way there they have a bunch of conversations about their family’s and their dreams. Deuce wants to be a writer.
When they get to Shell town and meet Kuina, Deuce knows that Kuina is Ace’s first mate. An emperor of the sea should have the world’s greatest swordswoman at his side.
Deuce decides to go his own way. But he keeps up with the story of the reverse Strawhats (who I really need to give a name to) writing their adventures. He pops up in different places interviewing the people who witnessed Ace and the crews escapades and writes them down and publishes them. It’s running like an anti newspaper. Something the marines can’t control or twist.
He bumps into the crew every now and then (he and Ace have the biggest crushes on each other, Ace’s crew teases him relentlessly over it)
I think he’d get so good at gathering information, or so popular that the revolutionary army picks him up at some point. Using his paper as an information gathering tool and a way to spread revolution.
But this is just an idea. I think it’s really fun with him ending up with Sabo at some point. He talks about Ace and the crew constantly (way to instagram stalk your crush Deuce) and Sabo hears about Ace for years before he sees his picture/face and realizes that his friend/co-worker has been openly pinning to him about his big brother.
It’s embarsing for both of them when Sabo reveals that Ace is his brother. Deuce wants to die. Has openly waxed poetics about Ace to Sabo for at least two years. Sabo and Koala already teased Deuce before. Now he’s stuck with
Sabo who as his friend finds it hilarious but as a little brother doesn’t know how to feel.
Koala who is bringing up his crush as often as possible because it makes Deuce blush and now has the added benefit of making Sabo SWIRM
And worst of all Nico Olivia who is basically Ace’s new mom and is talking about wedding details and her FUTURE son-in-law. Deuce craves death.
This is one idea but again it’s all fluid right now.
Koby’s roll will be played by both Deuce (was saved by Ace and is now a fan/admire) and Isuka (the marine who chases after Ace, I’m going to put her on Garp’s crew of the fun of it.)
It can’t be Koby in the beginning because he would be a literal baby going into the marines and no one deserves that.
But this is where we stand so far. Like I said all ideas here are fluid.
I’m so glad you like my AU I’m hoping to start officially writing it this spring. But feel free to keep asking questions!!!

00. TIME MOVES SLOW WHEN YOU'RE ALL ALONE, AND TIMES MOVES SLOW;
Tumblr media
I've been thinking about writing a fanfic after reading this one (btw this is a recommendation). it would be basically the opposite: I have a headcannon that Law would be considerably rich due to his family of doctors. So, the person who would live in all the luxury would be our dear aspiring doctor. Added a touch of drama 'cause I love a little pain.
This is just one chapter because I wanted to know if you guys like the idea, so if you'd like me to continue, please let me know.
2302 words.
modern au, she/her reader, use of "y/n", angst (?), law is 22, grief, implicit and explicit drug use, swearing, post-traumatic stress. mdni!
Tumblr media
Grief is a complex set of emotions that humans deal with after the loss of something fundamentally important to them. Grief isn't always triggered solely by death, but also, as mentioned earlier, by the painful farewell to something significant. Today, it is understood that grief has 7 stages: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance; not necessarily faced in that order.
However, when grief stops being a loss and turns into a disease, it's called pathological grief.
In this way, Trafalgar D. Water Law has lived the last 12 years of his life.
Law was sprawled on the bed of god-knows-who, with his shirt unbuttoned and his head spinning. The noise he could hear was his heavy breathing, as if his ears were inside his dry throat, while his eyes moved agonizingly slowly around the unfamiliar room.
The memories of how he got there or what was happening had long escaped his mind, but he was certain of one thing: He needed water, and perhaps a shower. Maybe he should call Rosinante, despite promising him that he wouldn't do it again.
Determined to reach the kitchen, Law dragged himself out of bed, his feet hitting the floor as steadily as he could manage — which wasn't much. He was almost halfway there when he stumbled over a blazer and fell to the ground like a bag of bones, shaking the room.
He began to mutter, wondering who would leave a blazer in the middle of the room like that. The blazer was his. The door creaked open with a muffled sound due to the music, and Law felt someone touch his back.
"Damn, I thought someone was having a pretty hardcore fuck here", the voice was familiar, Law looked up to see who it was. "I was going to ask to join, but it was just you", Sabo smiled, looking at Law with that same psychopathic smile as usual.
Sabo was one of those boys whose parents always warned to stay away from, as he could become a criminal or an addict in the future. However, as he grew up, Sabo silenced everyone when he was accepted into one of the best universities in the country, becoming one of the smartest people anyone had ever seen around him; even though he often seemed to hate it all. In the end, he settled for studying International Relations at the state's best college, against everyone's wishes and only following his own reasoning.
However, he still acted like a crazy fuck. And that's why he understood the whole situation when he saw Law's red eyes. "Damn, that was strong, huh?", he helped Law to his feet.
"F-Fuck off", Law groaned as he stood up, his cheeks flushed with embarrassment from his deplorable situation. "I-I want water", the words came out unconsciously, as if his body was speaking for him.
Sabo laughed, helping him walk out of the room. "Come with me, I'll help you", the blonde shouted over the music. They practically stumbled down the stairs to the ground floor.
The silver decorations and the low light of the place, combined with the loud music and the large number of people there, made Law even dizzier. The only thing he could look at to help his mental confusion was the huge glass window that overlooked a large and well-maintained garden, which, unfortunately, was filled with people here and there.
Sabo guided them to a corridor beside the stairs. The corridor seemed to stretch and then shrink several times as they walked to the door at the end, which Sabo pushed slowly before entering with Law.
It was the kitchen that Law had longed to reach in the last 3 minutes. The light was bright compared to the rest of the party; there were some waiters hired for the night, along with some people Law had seen around.
The kitchen was filled with the most expensive appliances. The stove had so many burners it looked ridiculous, the refrigerator seemed as wide and tall as a cabinet, and all the utensils were neatly arranged, highly polished and gleaming. Not to mention the extensive marble countertops and the golden details in the corners of each piece of furniture; there was also a long glass wall that displayed the image of the distant nighttime city, as bright as day due to its ever-lit lights, divided by the scenery of a quiet beach.
Given the attention to detail in this kitchen, it was possible that whoever the owner of this house was, they never had to set foot in this kitchen.
"Oi, Sabo", Kid spoke. Kid was a red-haired guy with painted nails and lipstick on his lips, holding a blunt between his fingers and blowing smoke through his teeth. He was dressed in the rest of his waiter outfit, his apron now tucked into the back pocket of his pants and his black dress shirt open.
"Who's this guy?", Kid, another one of the waiters, asked, watching Sabo lean Law against the wall next to the door. "Damn, he's messed up, huh?", he said as he saw the man bow his head.
Law was pitifully leaning against the wall, slightly leaning forward, head down, and too weak to move his hanging arms. His vision was a blur of his tattooed arms covered with a lazily rolled-up white dress shirt on his elbows and his shoes now dirty from who-knows-what.
Sabo laughed. "Go easy on him, he's new to this stuff", Law wanted to protest, but his tongue felt too heavy in his mouth. Sabo left his blazer on the counter and opened the refrigerator for water.
Maybe he was too high, but he still felt a gaze burning his skin. He slowly turned his head to look at a girl sitting on the floor, her back against the wall, wearing a waiter outfit similar to the others', now looser; and it was her who now held Kid's blunt.
The girl looked him up and down as she brought the cigarette between her index and thumb to her lips, there was a certain pity in her eyes, but Law chose to ignore it, no matter how irresistible her figure might be.
"His name is Law", Sabo added, handing him a glass of water.
"No way!", Kid said, laughing. "The Trafalgar Law? Man, you're like Batman!", Law grunted.
"Shut up, Kid. Are you eating shit or what?", the girl on the floor said, scolding Kid.
"No parents and being taken care of by a guardian? Sounds like Batman indeed", Law mumbled with difficulty, receiving the glass of water from Sabo.
The atmosphere in the kitchen grew heavy. Everyone remembered the Trafalgar accident; it was news for a few days, and the only survivor was the eldest son, Trafalgar Law. Post-traumatic stress kept him at home for a few years, where he dedicated himself to studying to continue his parents' legacy. But here he was, incredibly high for the first time.
It had been a series of unfortunate events that led him to that party that day.
But, in short, he wanted to experience a little of what he had missed due to his years at home.
Law banged the glass on the counter in front of him; he felt like he should say some things to this Kid guy, but his head was so confused that he felt, for a moment, like he was somewhere else. "Go... fuck yourself...!", Kid seemed to turn as red as his hair, but Sabo immediately cut both of them off with a laugh.
"You're even funnier like this, Torao!", a voice came from the other side of the kitchen along with a laugh. It was Luffy, one of Law's "friends," a title he didn't really want to call him. "You should get high more often", Luffy tapped his back a few times.
Trafalgar, already annoyed at being so high and also by Kid's well-thought-out comment, seemed to get more irritated by Luffy's presence, who was laughing too loudly for his taste. He pushed himself off the counter and walked awkwardly to the kitchen door, struggling a bit to open it due to its weight, and then staggered down the corridor.
The man staggered, getting lost in the huge house, with no idea what he was doing. The suffocating feeling of not being in control made him want to cry; he felt like he was sleeping, in a senseless, noisy dream. It was too hot, too stuffy, too noisy, too crowded. Moments passed like blurred flashes, too confusing to decipher; until he seemed to "wake up" from his dream.
Law was lying on something soft. He felt a cold breeze hit his body like an uncomfortable embrace. When he finally opened his eyes, the night sky was painted before him, he could hear the sound of the music more clearly now, though a bit more distant compared to the waves of the beach, and amidst the electronic rhythm and the crashing waves, a voice seemed to speak to him.
"I hate working for these spoiled brats, they all think I'm their damn housekeeper and should do whatever they tell me", Law turned his head to see who was talking, finding the same girl from the kitchen, sitting cross-legged with her back to him in the sand, smoking a cigarette angrily. "Damn, I'm here just to serve drinks, not to make the porridge that your housekeeper makes every night before bed!", Law ran his fingers through the sand, feeling the fine grains caress his palm. He heard her venting, but he didn't understand a single word.
She turned around and looked him deep in the eyes before speaking: "You woke up, finally. How do you feel?", she smiled.
"Like I've been run over", he was honest. He still felt out of it, but conscious enough to know what he was doing.
"Huh, wait until tomorrow", she said as Law sat up. He now noticed that she was wearing his coat. "You asked me to call someone named Cora-san, but I couldn't find his contact on your phone", she reached out, handing the device to Law. "Sorry about that."
Law rubbed his eyes, confused. "What... What happened? Where's Sabo?"
"You don't remember, do you?", she smiled, and Law, fearing what he might have done during this blackout, blushed violently. "Don't worry", she laughed. "Sabo carried you to the kitchen to get some water, but then Kid started talking crap and Luffy started annoying you until you left the kitchen. Sabo was going after you, but... I think her name was Koala, she stopped him and started arguing with him. I found you sitting on a couch next to the bathroom...", she stopped, pondering whether she should continue.
Law raised an eyebrow.
"You... were crying. Like, a lot. I brought you some water, but you said you didn't want to drink anymore, and then you started talking...", she sighed. "Anyway, you asked me to call this Cora-san and gave me your phone, and then you said you wanted some fresh air. I brought you here, and you ended up dozing off in the sand".
Law widened his eyes and cringed at the thought of what he might have told her. He didn't remember any of this, which made him want to disbelieve what he might have done, but since there was no other version of this gap in his mind, he just abstained.
"Don't worry, I won't tell anyone anything", she said when she saw his worried face.
"... Thank you", he said, grabbing his phone to check the time; it was almost dawn. He swallowed hard before unlocking the device.
He heard her chuckle softly and looked at the city on the horizon, finishing her cigarette. "Of course".
For some reason, his heart squeezed in his chest. That girl he didn't even know the name of had just helped him in a terrible moment of drunkenness for no reason, and as much as he could easily doubt her word, he trusted that she wouldn't tell anyone about his outburst.
His golden eyes fell on her again, watching her hair being carried by the cold morning breeze. The ever-present melancholy lingered in his mind as he dialed Rosinante's number on his phone; his finger hovered over the call button. "What's your name?".
She paused to think for a moment before answering. "Y/N", she turned her face towards him. The sun had just started to rise, and the sky was a bit brighter now.
He wanted to thank her for helping him, for being so kind to someone she barely knew, for caring enough to stay with him until he woke up; to say that he appreciated what she had done and apologize for causing trouble. But all that came out of his lips was: "Why did you help me?".
And all she replied was: "Because I wanted to."
He mentally slapped himself for sounding so ungrateful, he tried again to thank her, apologize, but she kept talking. "People don't always have a reason for doing what they do..." she seemed to notice the confusion in his eyes. "You were in a vulnerable moment, I couldn't leave you like that", and she gave one of the gentlest smiles Law had ever seen.
He swallowed hard as he remembered Rosinate.
"OOOOIIII, Y/N!", someone shouted in the background, she turned her head to see Kid calling her. "WE'RE LEAVING!!", she got up and brushed the sand off her clothes.
"COMING, JUST A MINUTE!!", she shouted back. "My ride's leaving. Nice to meet you, Law. Don't forget to call Cora-san", she took off the blazer to return it. "Call me if you need anything", then she turned and started running back towards the house, shoes in hand.
"Goodbye...", he said, but then he realized something. "I DON'T HAVE YOUR NUMBER!", he shouted, his eyes filled with the image of the girl now running away.
"YOU THINK!".
Law wanted to shout back, but something clicked in his mind. His fingers touched the screen of his phone to open the "Contacts" app, sliding his finger to find a new contact saved as "Y/N :p".

Cars are confusing 🚗
One piece story about Sabo trying to get his old car put in Luffy's name from Ace's point of view as a tag-along
+slight romance (not between asl obviously, they're brothers, but I've seen some odd stuff so I gotta clarify 😭)
Modern AU (obviously)
~~~~~~
Ace's POV:
I'm sitting in the back of the car, Sabo and Luffy are in the front. I'd be in the front but Sabo doesn't trust my driving and Luffy beat me to the passenger seat. We're currently going to get Sabo's old car put in Luffy's name since he got his full license a few weeks ago and Sabo agreed to give him his car once he does.
On the way there Sabo complains about one of his co-workers who always comes to work drunk. I add my own input, I don't like the guy either, so it's mostly insults towards him. Luffy, strangely enough just sits and listens, he must be tired, it is kinda early, 9:00 in the morning on a weekend.
After a while we get onto the topic of this boy Luffy likes. His name is Law, luffy talks about him like no one else matters, like this man is the sun on a cloudy day. It's cute, I'm happy he's found someone he can love and by the sounds of it, someone who loves him all the same.
Eventually we get to the insurance place. We park across the street, me and Luffy get out while Sabo grabs the papers. We walk in and Sabo immediately recognizes someone there, her name is Koala, they seem close. She's currently working with another client so they just say a quick hello before we all sit down and wait.
An older lady comes out to talk with us about getting Luffy's name put on the car. Sabo and the lady talk for a while and they ask Luffy some questions. I'm not really paying attention as I only tagged along to go to the mall after they sort this out. I play music tiles on my phone for a while until Sabo tells us we have to go to the DMV. Luffy groans knowing it's a bit of a drive to get there, I just sigh a bit, already regretting tagging along as just their conversation here took 20 minutes.
After a long drive we finally get to the DMV. I wonder why they don't just have the two places side by side, it'd be much easier.
We walk into the building, Sabo goes straight to a receptionist with the papers and they start talking. Me and Luffy stand behind him, Luffy not knowing what's going on and me not overly caring. We stand here for a solid 10 minutes before Sabo has to call the insurance place because apparently we needed to do more stuff there first and the old lady sent us off prematurely.
Sabo is put on hold for 15 minutes before he gives up and tells us to just sit and wait a bit and he'll try again. Good timing because I was about to fall asleep standing up. Luffy promptly sits down, pulling out his phone to watch tiktoks. I sit beside him and lean back in my seat a bit, closing my eyes and sighing. Sabo sits across from us and apologizes that it's taking so long. I tell him not to blame himself for other people's mistakes before letting myself relax again.
I start chatting with Luffy about Law again, wanting to know more. Luffy tells me a lot, about how they were close in grade 9 then this girl kept harassing Law and being lovey with him anytime Luffy was around and how that drove the two apart because it made it awkward and difficult for Law to be around Luffy. Luffy said this continued and is still happening but that Luffy and Law finally have a class without her and they've been able to be close again. I let out a sigh or relief knowing that that girl isn't causing as much trouble now, even if it's only because she literally cant. It's just unfortunate that that means they spent about a year completely split apart by her as they're now in grade 11.
Sabo suddenly grabs my foot. He tells me he loves my shoes and asks where I got them. I tell him I got them at Ardene and he asks how much they cost. I told him I got them on sale but that I'm pretty sure the sale is over now, but that at the time they were $12.99. he tells me that sounds like a good deal and that he's going to go buy himself some even if they aren't on sale. I tell him to just be sure he doesn't mistake his shoes for mine and Luffy butts in saying Sabo's feet are too big for us to mix up out shoes. Sabo makes an offended face which is quickly cut off by a phone call from the insurance place. Sabo picks up quickly and starts talking with the person on the line. Sabo start to get up, signaling us to get up and follow him back to the car.
Sabo hangs up the phone and gets in the car with an exasperated sigh. Me and Luffy also get back in the car asking what's up. Sabo tells us that we have to go back to the insurance place and that Luffy's gonna have to sign a bunch of papers. Luffy seems annoyed that he has to sign papers while I'm just concerned that anyone will even be able to read his handwriting.
Eventually we get back to the insurance place and walk in again. This time we're greeted by a very attractive man, I can feel myself blushing at the sight of him. Luffy playfully punches me and wiggles his eyebrows, he so knows I think this guy's hot. Sabo starts talking to him as he leads us to a room, sitting behind the desk and inviting us to sit down on the other side. Sabo sits but me and Luffy both opt for standing as Luffy doesn't like to sit still and I just didn't feel like sitting after all of the driving we did.
The man says his name is Marco, what a nice name for such an attractive man...i hope he's single. Luffy keeps making faces at me while Sabo talks with Marco. Luffy signs some papers and answers some questions. Eventually Luffy says that the room is kind of barren and that Marco should put up some pictures, maybe of bands or maybe of his girlfriend. I see what he's doing, trying to see if this guy is even single, nevermind if he's into men. The guy says he's sure his girlfriend would like that. I get a little sad but don't let it show as ultimately it isn't a big deal. Luffy gives me a look and I glare at him a bit. Sabo adds onto Luffy's comment by saying Marco should put flowers around the picture of his girlfriend and I add that he should put little lights with it too, reminiscing on the time when I was in grade 9 and we had a teacher that looked just like Edd Sheeran and we made a small shrine of Edd Sheeran in his class room.
After all of that we finally leave, Sabo telling us we can finally go to the mall. Luffy states that he's excited to go to the candy store. I tell Sabo I want to go to the furniture store and get some new pillows for my bed. Sabo just giggles at the both of us saying he's going clothes shopping. I then remember my shoes that Sabo was so fond of and joke that he's going to go buy himself some. He gives me a look and simply states, "yes." before we get in the car and he drives off to the mall.
Family Practice
CisFem Reader x Trafalgar Law
CW: sex, language, violence
Summary: Modern Mafia-coded AU starts in last semester of College
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chapter 7: Twist
The next couple of days you returned to the manor with Law. He and Pops talked for hours at a time, and you were the only one that dared to interrupt them with drinks or reminders of the time. It left you with plenty of time to visit with your brothers, and while Luffy was sad that Law was busy every time he came over, even your selfish little brother knew better.
Ace, Sabo and Luffy were playing a racing game in the living room while you, Marco and Thatch were tidying up after lunch in the kitchen.
“Really seems like he really is, doesn’t it?” Thatch prompts and you and Marco nod.
“I saw the picture yesterday morning.” You admit drying a plat and handing it off to Thatch, “His dad certainly took after the mother instead of Pops, but the resemblance is uncanny.”
“I wonder what they’re talking about, yoi.”
You snort. “So even you get curious.” You grin, teasing him a little. “I imagine they’re talking about the past. There was a whole side to his dad he didn’t know about, and I’m sure Pops also wants to be able to do as much as he can. I doubt Law will join the Family though.”
“Oh?” Thatch’s brows raise. “Straight arrow then?”
“Eh, I wouldn’t go that far. But he wants to be a doctor, he’s almost there, and the next step is opening his own clinic. Doesn’t really line up, y’know?”
“Well, hopefully he’ll let us at least help get the clinic up and rolling, yoi.” Marco says, finishing up the dishes and draining the sink. “You like him, and that’s worth more’n the blood in my opinion.”
Thatch raises an eyebrow after a moment. “Hmm.”
You can feel his eyes on you as you turn your back to the sink and keep an eye on the boys in the living room. “I can smell the gears in your head overheating, Thatch.”
“I just expected you to smack Marco,” He imitates a higher voice, “Oh I don’t like him like that!”
Despite yourself you grunt a laugh. “I’m not a teenager anymore, give me some credit.”
“Then… you do? You know, like that.”
“I mean, I wouldn’t turn him down.”
“But?”
“He’s in the last year of his doctorate. His stress has stress. I dragged him off campus in the hopes he’d at least sleep. Instead, who knows what this has done. Nothing bad, as far as I can tell, but… I don’t know. I had a plan.” You laugh a little and shrug. “I don’t know, maybe I’ll…” Your laughter fades as you realize that Law will likely start his clinic wherever Rosinante is. Some city, or some nation, far from the Metro. “Maybe I won’t think about it for now.”
“… woof.” Thatch ruffles your hair, but there’s a comfort to it. “He’s not from the Metro.”
“He’s not.”
“Chances are his clinic won’t be here either.”
“…”
“It’s a hard call either way, but if you decide to leave us over some tattooed emo doctor, we’d forgive you, yoi.” Marco assures you, and his choice of words at least makes you laugh.
“You guys know I can’t leave the Metro.” You say as your laughter fades. “Think about what Pops went through just so I could attend college outside of it.”
“I think you’d be surprised how much the underground would move if you decided to leave the Metro.” Thatch admits. “I mean, we say it as a joke, but half of the guests that showed up for Christmas would go to war if something happened to you. It’s that damned aura of yours.”
“So, you say,” you grin.
“Traffy!” You heard Luffy yell and leap out of his seat on the couch, practically launching himself off of Ace. There was swearing from Ace, laughter from Sabo and a wrecking sound from the game that lifted your spirits before you walked out of the Kitchen.
Law had adapted to Luffy’s admiration of him quickly. He managed to side step the initial lunge at him and was holding the youth at a decent distance.
“Stay a little longer and play with us, there’s room for one more in the game!” Luffy offers excitedly. He’s already trying to stretch enough to get a better grip before Law can shake him off again.
Law looks over at you and you shrug with a small smile. “We have to head back tomorrow by lunch time, so there’s no rush for today.”
There’s a defeated sigh that comes from Law as he stops trying to hold Luffy at bay. “Alright, Mugiwara-ya.”
Luffy drags Law into the living room, and a small squabble breaks out between Luffy and Ace over the younger’s earlier use of Ace as a springboard. Law starts up a new race while they’re still squabbling and Sabo laughs before catching your gaze and giving you a thumbs up before going back to the race.
“For better or worse, seems he’s already been adopted.” Thatch admits.
“I haven’t seen Luffy latch onto anyone like except you,” Marco adds.
“Haa… yeah, I,” you thought you had a better hold on your feelings and suddenly were feeling overwhelmed. “I’m going to step outside for a bit.”
“Ah, (Y/N), I didn’t-.”
“S’alright, I’ll be back.” You wave dismissively as you cut Marco off and head outside.
The cold air felt good against your face and after you got far enough away from the front door you let yourself just bawl. You weren’t even entirely sure why you needed to cry, but there was a strange relief from doing so, so you just let it happen. You couldn’t pinpoint what was causing it, but your mind wandered over a lot of things that caused more tears to overflow.
You didn’t have anything against crying, so it wasn’t like you had been holding in tears for years or anything equally silly, but your heart hurt. Like someone had reached in and just squeezed it.
After Duval you hadn’t let anyone who wasn’t already a friend or family member get too close. That wall had probably prompted Brownie to spike your drink even though the two of you were barely even officially dating. That event caused you to have to take someone’s life to protect your own, and after that you had practically sworn off all manner of letting new people in, friend or otherwise.
You had only helped Law because you didn’t want Nutmeg to turn desperate like Brownie had.
And now, here you were. Neck-deep in feelings for a guy who you probably weren’t going to see again after graduating. Sure, you’d call and chat or text and keep in touch, but you already had odd jobs lined up, and he was going to be opening his own business. Daily texts would become weekly, then monthly, then eventually you’d get a new phone and decide to clean up your contacts and his name would slide off with a dozen other numbers you hadn’t heard from in over a year.
Your tears had stopped as your mind had wandered and chuckled at yourself. Cold and jaded and not even old yet.
With a final sigh you head back in, taking a minute to pat snow on your face and cover up the traces of your outburst a little before heading back in. Pops was waiting for you when you came back in and the hug he gave you almost made you cry again, but he didn’t say anything and neither did you.
The afternoon rolled into evening, and after dinner Marco took the two of you back to your hotel. The car ride was quiet. Marco didn’t prompt anything, and both you and Law seemed to have something on your minds, because you were both staring out a window watching the world go by as your thoughts swirled.
Going from the hotel to the morning, back to campus by evening, the last 24 hours almost seemed to have gotten away from you. It wasn’t until you were at your apartment door, having been escorted by Law, that his hand on your arm pulled you into being completely aware of the world around you.
His fingers were hot on your arm, which was unusual – the few times you and he had any contact he always felt cooler than he should feel. Right now the tips of his fingers seemed to burn into your skin, or at least they were warm enough to pull you back into reality, out the haze of your own scrambled thoughts.
“(Y/N)-ya.” Law’s voice snapped you out of your focus on the feel of his hand on your arm. “You’ve been out of it for hours, are you okay?”
“Huh? I… yeah. Yeah, I guess my mind just wandered off and I didn’t realize. Sorry.” You apologize, and then laugh a little. “It’s a good thing you were around, I could’ve wandered onto the plane. I… don’t really even remember the flight. Wow, I was really zoned out.” Realization sinks in and you feel fully embarrassed. “I… can’t think of the last time I spaced out that bad, I’m sorry I must’ve been a handful.”
There’s a slight smile on Law’s face and he shakes his head. “Not really.” He lets go of your arm and his fingers slip across yours as he steps back. “I was going to ask if I could come in to talk about some stuff, but you should probably get some rest.”
“Ah, no, I mean, come in. The least I can do is listen to what you need to talk about after you basically babysat me all day.” You assure him, unlocking the door and stepping in. You made a face, reminded that your apartment was still done up in reminder of your lost bet.
“Besides, I didn’t realize how hungry I was, so I can order something.” You add, nodding toward the hallway. “Come on, you know the hookah vibe’s drawing you in.”
You catch the slight smile and grunt of a chuckle as Law follows you in. You don’t get far from the door after taking your shoes off and stepping up into the apartment when Law grabs your arm again. Stepped up from the entryway you’re closer to being at eye level with him.
“I have to say something now, before I can stay, because what I say might cause you to ask me to leave.” He says, and his bright golden eyes are holding your gaze. You can feel the heat rising in your face, and you’re having enough of an off day that you can’t think of some sort of snappy retort to break the building emotion.
You didn’t know what he was going to say, but some small part of you was worried that after three days of being around a Mafia family he had realized it wasn’t something he could handle. Something he didn’t want. Something that would hold him back, and you didn’t have a defense against that.
Even the best of relationships had splintered for far less.
“(Y/N)-ya. I want to kiss you.”
What.
“… huh?” You were certain you had heard him incorrectly.
“Even if it’s just once,” He continues, his voice less sure than before, his hand tugging you closer just a little. “I can leave if I’ve made you uncomfortable.”
You step forward, you mind is spinning, but you’re keeping up. “You don’t have to leave, I mean, I’m not uncomfortable, and… y-you can… but,” you let him pull you closer, the small smile playing on his lips catching your attention before you look back into his eyes. “why?”
“Why do you think, (Y/N)-ya.” Law’s fingers slip along your cheek before his hand goes into your hair, just under your ear, tilting your head a little as he pulls you in. You can’t think of an answer in your boggled state, but he doesn’t give you time enough to answer even if you could.
His lips press against yours and your eyes close as the soft pressure spreads a gentle pleasure through you. His other hand is around your waist, pulling you closer as your hands mirror his. One threading through his hair, the other holding onto his side. The soft kiss was enough of a rush, little lines of electricity stealing your breath, and you both lean back to catch your breath.
Law’s face is flushed, and he looks rattled, covering his mouth for a moment. “Sorry, I didn’t expect such a rush.”
“Did I take your first kiss, Pre-Med?” You muse, trying to mask your own reaction with a smirk.
“First one that ever felt like that,” He admits, kicking off his boots, and stepping up into the hall. You step to the side to give him room but not wanting to step away and feel the wall behind you. The brief ratted look is gone, and bright yellow-gold eyes are holding you in a sharp gaze. “Again.”
It’s not a request, more of a warning as he pulls you into another kiss. There’s another electric rush, a pleasure that floods down to your chest as your lips part and his tongue pushes into your mouth. You barely realize the moan that’s filled your chest until his hands flex against you pulling you even closer.
The statement that had started this had caught you off guard, but the passion coming from the usually cool and stoic soon-to-be-doctor was even more surprising. He had never talked about any past relationships, but to be fair, you hadn’t ever asked either.
The heat and taste of the kiss are making your head spin, and there’s brief moments of air before the kisses resume, but you’re not sure who leans into who after a while. You can only think that you want more, that the delightful sensation that keeps skipping through your heart is addicting and kissing hadn’t ever felt quite so good. It was almost scary to realize that you’d follow this sensation out of the Metro and into the desert if those golden eyes asked you to.
By the time you both stop you’re breathing heavy, your face is hot and you’re barely keeping your feet under you. Law’s breath is heavy too, and even though he’s turned away a bit you can see the red in his ears.
“Holy shit,” you huff, walking by him and going into the kitchen. You get a glass of water and down it in one go. “You want something?”
“I mean -.”
“TO DRINK – To drink, Pre-Med.” You interrupt almost laughing.
“Water’s fine.” You can hear the smile in his voice and hand over the glass you had emptied and refilled.
“I’ll, uh, make some tea, after… after I order some food.” You explain. You can feel your face heating up all over again, so you turn to the sink to get another glass and have another drink. There’s a soft clink of glass against the countertop and you realize that Law’s standing behind you.
There’s a tug that prompts you to turn toward him, so you set your still empty glass down and turn around. You aren’t sure what he’s going to do for a moment, until he lifts the glass and takes a sip before leaning down and kissing you. The extra bit of water feels like a flood you’re barely able to contain, cool against the hot kiss, and the small squeak of surprise is replaced by a moan as you’re holding onto the kitchen counter behind you to keep your feet.
Law’s hands are on the counter, caging you in place. You can feel his eyes on you even if you can’t pull your gaze up from his lips. There’s a strange sensation as he swallows before breaking the kiss, wiping the back of his hand across his lips before taking a step back. You swallow as well, but it has almost nothing to do with the bits of water left in your mouth.
“I…”
“Sorry,” Law interrupts, running his thumb across your bottom lip lightly before taking a step or two back. “You were trying to cool off.”
“Was… yeah… am.” You manage the words, putting an arm out between the two of you. “We have to talk this out.”
“I agree.” The knowing grin on his face is almost too much. “I just needed to do that first.”
I want Luffy to sit with his emotions and decide to listen to the most broken and dark parts within his scarred chest.
I want him to go after Akainu.
Something after the time-skip bothered me because One Piece is such a detailed work and should not be so vague about something so important. Ace's death changed the entire perspective of the story, causing Luffy to recognize his own weakness for the first time and the need to change and seek new paths if he wanted to continue pursuing his dreams. But that wasn't about his strength. He lost someone for the first time. And this trauma didn't make Luffy just want to become more powerful. It also marked him in a way that cannot be repaired, and that should be shown in some other way than just the scar on his chest.
No one asked what happened. No one said anything; no one apologized for not being there. It's obvious that none of Luffy's friends were to blame for what happened, but knowing them, I know it's something they would think about. But no one ever said anything.
I understand that Oda probably has a schedule and can't write everything he wants (the series needs to end at some point), but talking about what happened to Ace should be a priority.
Luffy apparently doesn't think about revenge. He looks forward and doesn't hold grudges against those who have wronged him, choosing to focus on his friends, his adventure, and his dreams, and that's something extremely positive and interesting about his personality. But the thing is: He had never suffered such a strong blow before. Forgiving and forgetting couldn't apply in this case because he feels what happened every day.
Of course, Akainu will eventually be defeated, whether by Luffy, Sabo, or even Coby. But that's not the point. Feeling negative emotions and allowing them to take over is an important step in learning to live with them, as they don't always go away. After Ace died, Luffy somehow managed to gather strength to get on his feet again and become stronger. But I wonder what he did with the feelings of guilt, hatred, and grief. These emotions don't disappear, and even someone extremely intelligent and emotionally healthy would struggle to deal with all of it. And I think I want to see that. I want to see how Luffy deals with his own mind when he's lying in his bed and everyone else is asleep, not knowing what to do with the tightness he feels in his chest. I want to know if he has the urge to ask Nami to change the Sunny's course directly toward where Akainu is, if he ever contemplates revenge.
I know, all of this happens implicitly, and we can see in some moments that Luffy is terrified of losing someone important again. He vowed that it would never happen and fights every day to protect the people he loves and this is not a criticism. Luffy is still one of my favorite characters, and it's impressive that after over 20 years, he remains true to who he has always been, which is quite an accomplishment in terms of storytelling. Talking about mental health or introducing something so specific into a work that needs to explain so much in such a short time may be asking for too much. But I just wanted Luffy to know that whatever he feels when no one is looking, whether he ever feels like he doesn't want to get out of bed some days, or if he has ever thought about giving up, none of that makes him any less Luffy.
Chapter 1053: The New Era Rises
The last chapter before the month-long break :(
Tumblr media
I find it hilarious the Gorosei want to remove the D. from Luffy’s wanted poster like he hasn’t had wanted posters with than initial for the last two years. Removing it is only going to raise suspicions.
One of these days, they’re also going to find out that Law is a D., and their heads are going to implode.
Speaking of, the bounties!
Tumblr media
Interesting that all three captains have equal bounties. I know there is going to be a lot of debate about whether this is fair or whatever, but it makes sense to me. After all, Kaido’s and Big Mom’s bounties combined were worth 8.9 billion, so this is basically splitting the difference three ways among the three biggest names in the alliance that took them down.
I love the pictures on all the wanted posters. I’m basically Bepo in this delightful panel:
Tumblr media
On the subject of delightful: Morgans.
Tumblr media
I love him. A lot.
Also, Big Mom’s ship is finally mentioned, though no mention of the former Emperors themselves. I’d typically assume falling into a magma pool and then possibly being erupted would be enough to kill even those two, but this is One Piece. Then again, I have a hard time seeing a purpose for having them be alive, considering we’re moving into the final saga, and we have other villains to face off against.
Aaaaand, let the festivities begin!
I feel bad for this guy:
Tumblr media
At least Jinbei is there to appreciate the effort. Sweet, sweet Jinbei.
Everyone else is off having fun
Tumblr media
(Side note: We still haven’t gotten Luffy’s reply as to whether Yamato is going to join, which is interesting.)
Except Robin. On a shallow note, I’m obsessed with her hair in this scene.
Tumblr media
She was indeed off doing Poneglyph things, as we see:
Tumblr media
But then we get the reveal that Oden’s father is actually still alive; he was imprisoned, and by the time he escaped, Oden was already dead and Wano was fully in the hands of Orochi and Kaido.
He also has no interest in sharing his identity with Momo, which I’m sure is going to change. After all, Momo never learned how to read the Poneglyphs; I bet Sukiyaki is still alive to pass that skill on to the next generation of Kozuki.
As for the reveal of Pluton being located in Wano
Tumblr media
Sengoku wondered why so many big name pirates end up in Wano, and Big Mom, during her fall, thought some of the secrets of One Piece were in Wano. Is this why?
Meanwhile, we have the new admiral Ryokugyu/Aramaki, and, well, yikes.
Tumblr media
This power is terrifying. It easily takes down Kaido’s top two commanders -- no small feat, even if they were still recovering from their fights.
Also, Queen is going to get too popular now that he’s thin ;-)
Tumblr media
His powers are looking very Elder Toguro here.
It’s also worrisome that he seems to admire Akainu so much. He’s obviously gunning for Luffy, but what does he, even with some backup, think he’s going to accomplish against the sheer strength of the fighting force assembled in the Flower Capital?
I am intrigued by the potential benefits of his powers on the landscape of Wano, however.
Tumblr media
Grass and flowers are growing in his wake, which is exactly what Wano needs.
Also, that reference to whatever happened at Reverie... ugh, I need to know!
Speaking of Reverie, what’s with the Sabo poster in one of the early panels? That seems ominous.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, at the festival...
Tumblr media
This is just... *chef’s kiss*
Kid is furious; he, Law, and Luffy all have the same bounty, but Luffy’s the only one named Emperor, and that infuriates him. He goes to fight Luffy, only for Luffy to pull him into a hug. I can’t stop laughing. Kid is finally getting to experience what Law has been dealing with.
As for the third captain, Law doesn’t seem to present anywhere. We see the Hearts celebrating, but much like during the party on Zou, Law is nowhere to be seen.
Tumblr media
Also, Kin’emon reunited with his wife. *wipes away a tear*
Tumblr media
And then, the twist reveal of the new Emperors:
Tumblr media
Obviously, I wanted Law to be in on this, but Oda’s troll job is just too masterful for me to even be mad. Buggy continues to fail upward.
I’m going to laugh forever if the “certain pirate” Shanks wanted to talk to the Gorosei about was Buggy and not Luffy after all.
See y’all in a month.
Ghost Train - a ZoLu fic - Chapter 4
Chapter 4: All Alone
A/N: Sorry guys, didn't mean to wait this long for a new chapter but I injured my finger at work and I finally able to type again. I'm also going to reply to my reviews from now on, I like seeing your feedback so much. I hope you enjoy this chapter! This is also going to be from Luffy's POV all the way up until the moment we left off from.
 (ɔ◔‿◔)ɔ ♥
Luffy was bouncing off the walls, literally, being a ghost, he didn't have to follow the rules of physics, unlike humans. He loved the fact that the people in his town didn't demolish his house, to be fair he is still a celebrity, even in death.
Luffy was waiting for his brother to arrive, while his other one was dead to the world, (pun intended), snoring his ass off on his childhood bed.  After a few more minutes of hopping around, he felt a hand grab him by his collar.
"Luf, you're being too loud, what are you even excited for this early in the morning?" Ace, Luffy's freckled face brother asked as he was wiping the sleep away from his eyes.
"It's 1 p.m. already! also ghosts don't need to sleep," Luffy said teasingly as he was still floating above his brother, after a bit of bickering, the two noticed their brother Sabo floating into the room.
"I've only been gone for 25 minutes stop arguing, anyway Luffy, why did you want to wait until Ace woke up to tell me something?" Sabo asked as he got comfortable on his old bed.
Luffy smiled blinded the other two, "Remember, it's the anniversary of our deaths soon, and the music festival is coming up, I hear the town is planning on doing something." Luffy said excitedly, even though he can't interact with them.
Ace looked at Luffy confused, "They've been doing it since we passed 2 years ago, why are you so surprised?" Ace asked.
Luffy just rolled his eyes and comically dangled off his brother's shoulders, "Well duh Ace! It's going to be different this year, I can feel it! Maybe my person will come?"
  A brief silence was felt in the room, there were puzzled looks on the elder's faces.
  "Humor me, what feeling are you getting?" Sabo looked at his twin in concern, Ace and he found their partners before they passed, so being able to be bonded with their partner after death was only natural... but Luffy didn't get the chance to find his one and only, and they weren't sure if Luffy would ever have that chance
. Luffy got up from Ace's shoulders and flew to his bed in the room, he uncharacteristically got a bit sentimental.
"Well ...  it's rare to have a soulmate, I know that already. I remember how you both felt when you realized you could both still touch and speak to Marco and Koala." Luffy held his tears in, he was a very social person, and the fact that he can't have a friend or partner to talk to and actually touch... felt very lonely.
"I feel this huge bubble in my throat when I think about the festival coming up, I wonder if something will happen to me for once?" Luffy said dejectedly, it was worrying his brothers.
Ace and Sabo knew that Luffy was a hyperactive-social butterfly, and it made the two feel guilty, even if it wasn't their fault.
  For Ace, Marco has already made his name known in their town and is a businessman that resides here, so Ace doesn't have to worry about being alone. Sabo just started dating Koala before he passed, but of course, they were destined to be.
Koala happened to move to Dawn Island to set up her karate dojo and Sabo managed to date her before the accident, but because they were destined to be, it was like he never left her.
So Luffy was alone, he had a lot of friends sure, but he couldn't talk to them anymore. None of his old friends visited his grave, though he was still grateful for the fans or strangers that wished him well in the afterlife
"Okay sorry, I made the mood a bit sad, but I'm, happy for you two y'know? I still have you guys, so i'm not lonely at all." Luffy said to the two, he wasn't lying exactly.
He isn't lonely because he has his older brothers, but when they spend time with their loved ones, that's when Luffy feels lonely.
(ɔ◔‿◔)ɔ ♥
After a few more hours, the trio fell asleep, while it wasn't necessary, the three felt comfortable with their mortal habits.
Though dreaming was rare for ghosts, it's very special because, unlike many people who probably forget what they dreamt about a few minutes after they wake up, ghosts get to keep their dreams as if they were a memory.
Speaking of, Luffy was fast asleep and snoring as loudly as he can be, but then he felt something coming.
He was about to have a dream and he did not want to mess this up, it was a few moments of waiting before he saw a shadowed face.
Luffy felt overjoyed, he finally gets to talk to someone, even if it is a dream. Luffy was trying to pay attention but it seemed that the dream he was having wanted to keep secrets from him as well, 'stupid dream' he thought before he was brought to a change in scenery
He was sitting on a balcony facing the mysterious figure.
"So how long are you staying here?" he asked suddenly, having no idea why he started with that, maybe he'll ask Sabo when he woke up, he rather not think too hard about it.
"I think the whole summer, I go back to school for the last time around September, " a baritone voice replied, all Luffy can see was a small smirk on the mystery man's face.
"Well make sure to come back, I'll miss you, you're the first company I personally had in a while,"  Luffy spoke again, not aware what words are coming from his mouth.
He was trying to not wake up, 'does this mean this is  viz? viso?... oh whatever, a future thingy?' he thought to himself. He focused again when he felt a touch on his hand.
"I promise," the man spoke, he curled his pinky finger around Luffy after those words were spoken, and Luffy was now wide awake.
"Hey Luffy, wake up," Ace was shaking Luffy's shoulder.
It has been a few days since they last spoke, of course sleeping for a few hours for a ghost would actually mean a few days have passed in the human realm.
"Marco and Koala are stopping by, they wanted some of our input." Ace told the younger.
"Why did you wake me up then, they can only see you two since you're both bonded pairs?" Luffy was now rubbing the sleep from his eyes.
"Well we can still have your input, we would just need to let them know what you say." Sabo said as he was getting 'ready' as if he hasn't been wearing the same clothes forever.
"Sure, sure fine, just let me know when they stop by, I was having a nice dream." Luffy moped slightly.
Then in one second, both brothers had their attention fully on Luffy.
"You had a dream!? What was it about?" Ace asked, he had stars in his eyes
. "Geez Luf, you can't say that out of the blue, that's big news." Sabo sat next to Luffy with a big smile.
'Oh yeah, I forgot it was rare to dream already' Luffy thought.
"Well?! aren't you going to tell us?" Ace and Sabo both asked
. Luffy smiled at the two, after explaining the very short dream to the two, they heard a knock on the door.
Ace got up to get the door while Sabo was thinking, "that sounds like a vision Luffy? Were there any other hints?"
'VISON, that's the word' Luffy thought for a second before replying.
From what he could gather from the dream, it was somewhere close because he saw the statues that the town made for them from the balcony, they were in a beach house most likely. And also...
  "OH SHIT!" Luffy smiled so hard that if he were mortal, his cheeks would've definitely ripped.
"I think it is a vision Sab! I can see the decorations for the festival that's coming up!" Luffy was giddy at the information.
Ace overheard the two but open the door for their guest, "Hello Koala" he smiled at the woman before she walked in.
"Hey, tiger!" Ace was now faced to face with Marco, of course used to his antics, Marco just snorted and pushed Ace away to say hello to the others.
"Hey Sabo, and Luffy if you're here?" Marco spoke as he sat down on Ace's bed, Koala was on Sabo's.
"Hey Pineapple!" Luffy said to the mortal's deaf ears, of course, Ace and Sabo heard it just fine.
"He said hi back Marco" Sabo told the man while Ace was snickering at his boyfriend's nickname.
After some small talk, Marco and Koala told the brothers that they were hosting the concert for the festival this year and they wanted to ask their partners what songs they should pick.
After a few suggestions from Ace and Sabo, they took some from Luffy, now aware of how their brother feels about their relationships, they definitely wanted to include him as much as they could as they were all family, even if the two humans could only see their partners..
.
.
. .After the twins bid their lovers goodbye, Luffy was still thinking about the man in his dream.
'Is he my soulmate? He touched me? Luffy thought to himself.
Well, he'll sleep again, maybe by the next time he wakes up, it'll be time for the festival.
(ɔ◔‿◔)ɔ ♥
Hi, I was wondering if you heard about the chapter 1055 fiasco, regarding Lawbin shippers being extremely toxic to other shippers in particular to Frobin, where there was a panel of Law and robin side by side. Those Lawbin shippers thought that was romantic(clearly not) apparently and they began screaming at the top of their lungs to Frobin shippers the following:”Omg our ship canon and yours is not,blah blah”. They are so hateful and delusional. What do you think about this situation?
Ship wars are so pointless, especially regarding One Piece, I swear. Many many years ago on a Q&A a fan asked Oda if there would be romance within the Straw Hat crew and Oda’s answer was “They’re all in love... WITH ADVENTURE”
He was jokingly telling everybody they could go watch telenovelas and read romance novels if they wanted romance and ship wars. And he’s been constantly trolling shippers ever since, non stop. I remember another Q&A where someone asked him if Sabo’s long fringe was because he wanted to be more handsome in Koala’s eyes and Oda said the long fringe was because Sabo just wanted to cover the burn scar on his eye. Another one where someone asked if the reason for Luffy having a nosebleed by seing Nami’s titties was because Luffy is in love with Nami and Oda said Luffy was just imitating Usopp’s reaction to titties, not because he was attracted to Nami in any way.
Oda’s constant trolling to shippers is hillarious, and make me wonder if these hardcore shippers are reading the same manga at all lol
The few ships that are canon on this series have been presented on a very direct way, with little to none red herring nor subtlety. Look at Capone/Cifone and Kyros/Scarlet. Those have been obvious from the very start.
Frobin on the other hand is the only case I can think of a ship that slightly deviates from the rest of the stuff. But only because Oda said if the Straw Hats were indeed a family, Franky would be the father and Robin would be the mother. It was cute, but it was a played out as a fun curiosity and it’s all. Maybe the Sanji/Pudding stuff will have a payback later on? With the memory erasure of the kiss thing that happened at the end of Whole Cake Island? But it’s Oda, so who knows. The payback may be just a joke.
To be honest, after spending time on the DC fandom and constantly being exposed to stories with forced nasty fucking hetero ships that don’t make sense, especially surrounding Nightwing’s stories, One Piece not having ships is such a relief and a breath of fresh air.
I’d like Frobin to be canon on some way, but I don’t care that much either. I think ships should stay in fandom spaces and just be a fun hobby, not to be taken seriously. I wish the same thing happened to DC. I can only sigh and wonder “Why can’t Nightwing remain single and have adventures with friends for just ONE RUN, without DickBabs or any other ship being shoved down my throat every two seconds?!” Just my opinion, anyway.
Dear A.,
You wrote that this recent contact has been really hard for you. I agree, it has been for me too. Yet I wanted to bear it, if it meant we could come out more peacefully at the other side of the tunnel.
It pains me to think that I am not allowed to ever send you a postcard or a letter again and that this last message you had sent me, will be your last words to me until we go into our graves. I would’ve liked to hear your voice say it, because the voice in my head makes it sound very apathetic and robotic, even though iI think you were trying your utmost to restrict your emotions as to not incite mine (but they’re always incited anyway). The thought, that this is how we take this state of affairs into our graves, makes me feel doomed, unable to change my fate.
I wonder if thats how Bosie felt, after Oscar had died and he was unable to reconcile with him for the rest of his life. His poem resonates with me.
The Wastes of Time
If you came back, perhaps you would not find
The old enchantment, nor again discern
The altered face of love. The wheels yet turn
That clocked the wasted hours, the spirit’s wind
Still fans the embers in the hidden mind.
But if I cried to you, “Return! return!”
How could you come? How could you ever learn
The old ways you have left so far behind?
How sweetly, forged in sleep, come dreams that make
Swift wings and ships that sail the estranging sea,
Less roughly than blown rose-leaves in a bowl,
To harboured bliss. But oh! the pain to wake
In empty night seeking what may not be
Till the dead flesh set free the living soul.
Even if I am not supposed to contact you, perhaps you could bear to send me something in a while? A postcard from a vacation maybe. A little ‘im thinking of you’, a little ‘i miss you’, just please don’t never ever speak to me again for the rest of our lives.
Last week, in order to somehow soothe myself, I went to the city and just walked around aimlessly, mindlessly, I wasn’t in my body, I felt the world was unreal and I was moving through cotton. My mind was reeling with everything.
I blew the rest of this month’s money on a game I had wanted to get for some time, it is called Lies of P, the main character is this twinky malnourished victorian guy. But the game is really difficult and frustrating to play. When I am not at work these days (I work three different shifts), or sleep to recover from changing shifts at work, I try to play it to distract myself from entering an anxiety spiral about everything between us. Last summer, when dad died, I was very preoccupied because my family came together and we were doing little activities every day. So I was able to battle my depression by filling my days with life. I would’ve fallen apart had I not had that in this time. Too much had happened in the first six months of the year, it was simply too much.
But things have gone back to normal and I’m just constantly alone. Even though I do try to make friends. I sometimes attend a local tolkien fan club, but most people there already have gray hair. I try to not be so suspicious of people. Yet still, it seems like everybody is just upset with me being a mental trainwreck. Sharon visited me upstairs a few days ago and gave me a one hour lecture of why I cant continue like this and that I am not trying hard enough to not be depressed etc. i felt like I don’t want to exist anymore after that. I try my best everywhere and with everyone but its still not enough. I do everything wrong and hurt the people around me, without meaning to.
It is all very dismal and disheartening, I realise, when I write this.
All my love, your insane
Sabo
