mingyu thinks you hate him, and it’s not just because you haven’t visited his apartment for more than eight days—though that’s concerning as well; you’re usually over within a couple of days, even if you’re busy, which he definitely knows you aren’t, considering how much you’ve been going out with friends, namely seungkwan and chan.

he purses his lips, looking up at the ceiling from his comfortable spot on the couch…alone, just like the last two weeks. his phone dings and he opens it immediately, a frown appearing on his face when it turns out to just be seungcheol asking if something’s up between the two of you—of course he knows; seungkwan never even looked in mingyu’s direction the last time all thirteen hung out together.

mingyu sighs, responding back with a “ask seungkwan not me” before opening up to the last time you had texted him. he had said he was busy back when you had asked if he wanted to go to a photography exhibition, and you haven't responded to his hurried apology.

maybe it’s time to say something…? he pauses before sighing again, going back to staring at the ceiling, hoping the little stipples above him will make a decision so he doesn’t have to.

of course, the only reason you’re avoiding him is because you think he hates you—which may be a huge overstatement but what else would you call it? it’s one thing to not have time for dates because that, at least, you could understand. maybe it’s just that you��ve passed your puppy love phase, and that’s alright; you’re both very busy people but…why is he ignoring you? that’s not the mingyu you know, and it’s been almost a year since you started dating.

the most annoying thing is that he probably doesn’t even realize your anniversary is coming up in the next few days—though you’ve stopped caring (the dried tear stains on seungkwan’s couch pillow say otherwise).

so when he texts you while you’re at chan’s apartment, you frown in surprise, catching the attention of seungkwan, who’s beside you.

you move to pull up your keyboard but seungkwan stops you by quickly pressing the power button before you can even start typing a reply.

seungkwan glares at you when you start to protest, and takes your phone into his hands to prevent anything happening, as if he’s your parental figure. “don’t you even dare say yes.”

“maybe…” chan sighs and rubs his eyes with his palms, catching your attention—and seungkwan’s too, as he raises an eyebrow at his best friend, telling him to continue. “maybe we should give him a chance?”

seungkwan immediately scoffs and jumps into a rant about why you should do the exact opposite of what chan’s suggesting. “chan, have you not been paying attention these past few weeks? that man has left our dear baby—” seungkwan moves to shush you when you say you’re not a baby, continuing once you press your lips into a straight line. “he literally left them hanging multiple times, and all he had to say was ‘sorry i can’t make it sweetie.’”

chan frowns, tilting his head. “isn’t that what you’re supposed to say to your partner if you can’t make it?”

seungkwan pauses, sighing. “well…yes but come on, he could at least offer to make it up to them if he’s done this like ten times! also, he definitely forgot about their anniversary, which is so much more horrible.”

as seungkwan takes a deep breath to calm himself, you correct him quietly. “it’s been three times.”

“what?” seungkwan looks at you exasperatedly, and chan giggles from his seat on the chair in front of the two of you.

“i said he’s only done it three times. besides, he’s been busy…it makes sense for him to forget.” you hold out a hand to stop seungkwan before he launches into another spiel on how mingyu sucks as a boyfriend so you can keep going. “listen, kwan, i think spending some time with him would be right…but i’m not ready for that yet.”

seungkwan bites his lip before nodding, his expression softening. “okay. as long as you’re happy, okay?”

you hum in agreement as chan stands up, clapping his hands excitedly, and you exchange a look with seungkwan.

chan grins, pulling out an uno deck from a drawer in the table beside him. “how about we play uno to distract ourselves?” he nods towards you before smirking at his other friend. “i’m sure they’d love to see me beat you.”

seungkwan raises an eyebrow before scoffing again, raising his shoulders in a shrug. “well, lee jung chan, you should know you’re totally gonna lose.”

chan scoffs, and as your best friends start bickering like normal, you smile, knowing they’re amping up the dramatics to take your mind off…whatever you and mingyu are right now. well, you could think about your boyfriend after beating both chan and seungkwan in uno.

mingyu’s been sulky all day, and wonwoo not asking him why isn’t helping the sinking pout on his face.

he stares unrelentingly at his best friend as wonwoo faces the self-help bookshelf in front of them, searching for the book he’s been looking for since they entered the small shop.

“why are you like this?” wonwoo eventually breaks under mingyu’s pitiful gaze and huffs out a breath, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose before turning to his friend. “what’s wrong?”

mingyu sighs like he’s been doing for the past few days, and wonwoo puts the book in his hand back on the shelf, expecting his friend to not get to the point quickly (he’s right).

mingyu says your name quietly as a response, and wonwoo raises an eyebrow. “what is that supposed to mean?”

“it means that they hate me! i don’t know what i did either…i mean look, it was pretty busy at work so i couldn’t go on dates with them when they asked but that’s okay right?” mingyu frowns and bites his lip when he realizes he’s a bit too loud for the bookstore.

nodding, wonwoo processes the information he’s just been given before he puts a sympathetic hand on his best friend’s shoulder. “good luck with that.”

mingyu scoffs, about to scold the man in front of him before his gaze drifts off to the bookshelf in the far corner, where the two of you had been searching for cooking books around the time you had first started dating, which was probably around…a year–oh.

“hm?” wonwoo says when his friend pauses, looking up from the book he just picked up as mingyu groans and puts his head into his hands, moving to rest against a nearby bookshelf.

wonwoo looks over to the cooking section and turns back to mingyu. “hey, isn’t it–wait…you forgot the anniversary, didn’t you?”

mingyu groans again in agreement, and gets a head pat paired with a “that’s rough, buddy” from his friend before he’s left alone, coincidentally, in the relationship advice section.

seungkwan sighs as he comes back from checking through the peephole of your apartment door, gesturing towards it as he plops down onto the couch. “it’s for you.”

you raise an eyebrow, getting up to open the door—seungkwan already checked anyway, so there’s no need to look through the peephole again–and come face to face with mingyu, the man you’ve been avoiding. “oh.”

the paper around the bouquet of white orchids in his hands crinkles as he shifts his weight, a nervous smile on his face as he calls your name hesitantly. “hey.”

you nod in greeting before looking back to seungkwan, who’s glaring at mingyu with his arms crossed, and paying attention to the man in front of you as he clears his throat.

“i, uh…here.” mingyu pushes the flowers towards you, and lets out a breath of relief when you take it gently from him. “i’m sorry.”

you stare at him. “for what? forgetting our anniversary? for not apologizing for so long?” you sigh when he remains silent, looking back at the clock in your living room. “there’s only a few hours left of our one year anniversary anyway…it’s fine.”

mingyu shakes his head, coming closer to grab your arm gently with a serious expression. “no, it’s definitely not fine. i hurt you, and that’s not okay.” he pauses, frowning. “besides…i miss my partner–i miss you.”

you sigh, looking into mingyu’s eyes, and you know he’s genuinely sorry. you break your arm free from his grip, causing his face to drop.

you place the bouquet of orchids on the side table, and call out to seungkwan. “hey, kwan? do you mind finding a vase for these?”

“i have to make the most out of these last two hours of my anniversary with my boyfriend after all.” mingyu’s face lights up as you take his hand, still looking back at seungkwan’s soft smile, which matches your own.

you give mingyu a pointed look as you close the door behind you, trusting seungkwan to keep your small apartment safe. “but first, we really do have to talk about…whatever the last month was, okay?”

mingyu nods eagerly before placing a gentle kiss on your forehead as the two of you grin. “i missed you so much, baby.”

Also I’m not sure where the whole “you’re my hero” thing being explicitly romantic came from but I’ve seen multiple people point it out now. It doesn’t really make sense to me though because there’s other cases of it being said in purely platonic contexts. Like, Kota calling Deku his hero or Deku referring to All Might his hero and idol, etc.

I know it was said between kirimina and kudoichi too but even then it didn’t really feel like they were said in romantic contexts. I love fanon kudoichi but there’s really not much substance between them in canon since we don’t know enough about their relationship. And with kirimina, while I do think Kirishima likes Mina, I think he still saw her as his hero even before those feelings might’ve developed. But also, don’t forget that Deku said this:

About Ochako confessing anyway in order to shut izuocha down, I don’t think that’d be entirely fair, especially since Izuku would probably entertain her feelings and try his best to like her back for a while before either a) actually falling in love with her or b) realizing he doesn’t love her like that and breaking things off with her because he realizes it’s not fair for her to be with someone who doesn’t love her the same way she loves them.

That, and I think Ochako kind of shut down her own feelings, since every time someone brought it up, she’d say something along the lines of “it’s not like that” or “I would’ve done the same for anyone” and even in the provisional license exam when she told herself she wanted to get rid of those feelings. It just kinda tells me that even if those feelings were still there, she never planned on doing anything about them because she genuinely didn’t want to.

But also, I still don’t think Hori has to confirm any relationship in order to conclude the story, and if he does start a spin off, I wouldn’t mind if he decided to canonize any romantic pairing or not as long as the conclusion to the spin off is an actual conclusion and he closes the rest of those doors that he left open, yk?

Bad Day=Binging ScarNash

Turns out the lines about Eliza sulking started in this episode, which clearly adds to why she’s pissed when he spends the entirety of 4x05 just telling her she’s sulking and she should not sulk.

Then we have scene where Patrick’s pacing again. And I don’t blame him for making Eliza nervous too. Like he said “good I don’t see why I should suffer alone” (which is a quote I’ve been using way to much in real life recently lol)

Clarence makes his grand entry with some food and the info that Gibson is here. 🙃

And I’m finally going to end on those last two scenes of them together (cuz I skipped William kissing Eliza)

Barnroe - don’t ship it (but I still think it’s neat!)

1. Honestly nothing about them, I just never got as invested in BF as I did in the other musicals (still love it so much though!! And the soundtrack is easily my favorite of the 3) and didn’t feel as compelled to make or seek out fan content so Barnroe just wasn’t on my radar I guess.

2. Idk honestly, I feel pretty neutral leaning towards positive on this ship so I’m not sure what would get me invested?? Maybe if I read a really good fic of them that would get me into it (there’s a good chance that’ll happen honestly, catch me becoming obsessed with them like next month probably)

3. I have stumbled across some really cool fanart of them and I can definitely see the potential for a really interesting dynamic

Holloweane - ship it

1. Everything about killer track and their dynamic there.

2. I just love how much they seem to care about each other and the way the narrative keeps them apart and the whole thing where she’s told Duke her life story multiple times even though she knows he’s inevitably going to forget…it hurts so bad I love it

1. Mainly because I’m not that invested in Ted as a character. Don’t get me wrong, I think he’s complex and interesting and I do find him entertaining, but I’m not invested enough to seek out fan content where he’s the focus, shipping or otherwise.

2. Maybe if they have more interactions in NMT3 and I can get a clearer picture in my head of what their dynamic might be like it would get me more interested in them

3. I do love the potential family dynamic it could create. I feel like once Grace found out the interactions between her and Ted would be especially hilarious. And could honestly be kind of cute and wholesome too if Grace slowly comes around to him and they bond. I think they have more in common than they realize (“I can’t believe Ruth’s in a show about hookers!” vs “this show’s about hookers!”) Plus Pete and Grace being stepfamily would be fun!

As much as I love reading and writing fic where they’re all really good friends and care about each other, solely based on their interactions in NPMD I get the impression that Pete doesn’t like them all that much and he’s really only sticking with them as a safety in numbers thing, so I have trouble picturing that kind of relationship with them. Then again I can’t really talk, I’m a crack ship enjoyer that regularly ships characters who have literally never interacted lol

2. Maybe if we get to see more interactions between them in NMT3

3. I do think they have the potential to be a really fun, chaotic trio so I totally see the appeal! Also Ruth having 2 boyfriends and bragging to anyone who will listen about the fact that she pulled not one but two bad bitches, I do really love that for her and I think she deserves it <3

Wow, yeah! This actually makes a lot of sense. Zan seeing the culture of the man who saved her life be used that way? (And given Hyness has very sore feelings about Halcandra?) You actually think she'd be a little more upset! Then again, teasing each other on Twitter is probably about the right level of aggression for the Kirby series!

I'm generally live and let live on the matter, since for some people, the anime is the most accessible form of Kirby (or maybe they just like itty bitty Kirby because cute? Which is true!) but I would personally love to see in increase in a Kirby with wisdom and agency and the canonical ability to handle themselves over a Kirby who needs to be reminded when nap time is. Let's not forget that Kirby's friends are there in the first place not because Kirby requires a parental figure but because Kirby was the one who saved THEM! Multiple times!

@wyverewings​ Pretty sure that came from DeafeningGardenerPanda's translation of the Dreamy Gears novel. It was called "Kaze no Machi" (Wind Town or Town of Wind) which Panda smartly localized as "Breezeburg." (”Brighton” was another one. I think the Japanese was “City of Light?”)

Agreed on both points! It makes Triple Deluxe easier to play too! (Such violent inhales in that one! ^^; ) And I get what you're saying about Kirby! (Everyone is a significant other! Hee!) But I feel the exact same! Kirby loves everyone, equally, but it's the love of a friend-shaped friend!

@thecrashman​ I'm glad that DMK getting neglected in Dream Buffet was a one time thing, because I'd love to see more content putting the mirror opposites face to face! Or back to back, fighting together?! (I've never seen Jack vs The Ninja - must look it up now - but that DOES sound badass!) DMK is seriously under-explored. I think the Sectonia mis-understanding doesn’t help...

Huh. Just went back to Dream Collections script and he DOES say he's a traveler from "another dimension." Same kanji as used with AD in other places, but not written out in English as it sometimes is.

You know, I really do think this is all going to tie back to the TDX Magolor portrait?? I mean, Sectonia seems to have dimensional abilities. I can’t quite remember now, but I think you're traveling through dimensional portals in the later stages? Implied to be created by her or Taranza? So she probably could have helped Magolor reach there if they attempted to cooperate at one time. 

(DriftwoodMFW had this really great theory that the reason Joronia’s mask was labeled “old friend” wasn’t just because she was Taranza’s old friend but that Magolor thought of her as a friend too! Or didn’t at the time, because he wasn’t good with friendship, but thinks of her that way now?)

But yeah, who knows! Lots of possibilities there! (Fiddling around with Star Dream opened one up, so you could be right that anything Ancient/Energy Sphere-powered can open up a rift! Maybe Magolor even got ahold of a single energy sphere and BLIP! Insta-Halcandra!)

I don't even know how I ended up this way myself! I kind of have an overabundance of empathy, which has hurt me sometimes but mostly taught me to always be as kind and as thoughtful as possible. Silly Dess fact, but I have this poem, “Desiderata”, that's been hanging on my bedroom wall since I was a very young child. I try to always refer to it when I'm feeling sad or lost. I recommend everyone give it a read. It's really good advice??

Also, the Kirby series really speaks to me. And by playing with it, I can exercise the part of me that wants things to be spooky and sad but also funny and heartwarming! (And if my drawings come off as warm and happy, that's probably me just being so happy that I like where my art is at finally! It’s only about now I realize just how much and for how long I’ve always dreamed of being an artist!) Anyway, I hope I can continue to make people smile!

I once wanted to make a Marx spin-off game in GB Maker, that was just like Kirby's Dream Land only... different! It would play with the concepts of dreams and “reality” - because I can't stop being obsessed with my own Noddy Marx HC! (I started making sprites for it but fell off quickly.)

I also think Marx would be great in a Magolor like epilogue, starting from almost nothing and having to kick at enemies to survive until you get further along, with him gaining his powers of flight back toward the end!

But I’d also love to combine a Marx spin-off with Kagero Mansion (which I also HC as having been originally designed for him - the stuff with the clock just screams "Galactic Nova was designed for this game!") It would play strongly on having these spooky elements, like the haunted house level in Forgotten Land, but stretched out over a whole game! There'd be all these traps and puzzles, slightly more tricky than your average Kirby game!!

...I should really hurry up and learn Unity... I bought the Corgi platformer engine for myself to push me to learn game programming last year but I got so busy I haven't cracked it open yet, eep! But hey! Watch this space! I may yet make a Marx spin-off of my own!! (Yeah right, Dess, you have NO free time for that... Wahhh, it’s true...!)

@eliastheownerof0axolotls​ The Soul bosses actually share all sorts of attacks, but since Drawcia and Marx are the original Soul bosses, it really all calls back to them! Which is kind of great?! It just makes sense that Marx and Magolor would have these little things in common! (Even though one is a magician and one is a wizard.) 

I'm really excited about the fact that the Master Tree uses Marx's seed attack! Maybe someday we'll get an explanation as to if there's SOMETHING ELSE connecting all these bosses together?!

I have a hard time believing the narrative of his family not liking her but inviting her to all the family events, parties and more./ Anon is forgetting is that in some of those events, Chris was probably the one paying the bill. So she will go and they will say nothing.

How is Chris rushing to get married? They've been together long enough that I wouldn't call this rushing. I hope it all works out for him. My husband and I had people we were close to doubt our marriage, and it sucked. Every time we've hit a rough patch, I've wondered about the "I told you so's" we would get if it all fell apart. But we're still together almost two decades later, and counseling has been really helpful for both of us and the marriage. So, I say good luck to Chris and Alba. I wish them the best. I wouldn't want them to have to go through the pain of a divorce.

Man I don’t get this. Even if he is rushing to get married, why are y’all acting like he doesn’t know what he’s doing. He’s a 40 year old man, i’m sure he’s not forcing himself to get married just to be a husband. And i’m sure he’ll get a pre-nup because he hasn’t been in the industry for 20+ years and built up a career by being an idiot. They way some of y’all infantilize him is just insane. I don’t even care for Alba but y’all are acting like she hasn’t had multiple opportunities to use him for money. I don’t know I just find it hard to believe what dm said about his family. Some of them might not love her but maybe to tolerate her instead of outright dislike. But still I have doubts because he’s so close with his family especially his mother. Plus his best friend of several years seems to like her too. I just don’t think he’ll marry someone when his family doesn’t like her. This also reminds me a lot of what someone said during the Jenny days that his mom didn’t like her either.

Okay so it seems as though (to me) he’s rushing to get married // rushing? How is dating someone for over a year and being engaged for nearly a year, getting married after being together for over 2 years is a “rushing”?! That’s the standard timeline for many couples I have ever met. They say you know within the first 6 months it you’re in love and if this is the person for you.. sounds to me he knew and acted upon it. Rushing would be if they eloped within a week or even 5 months, that’s rushing

I think it could be the rushing into it, but he very obviously wants kids and it's always risky to have kids with a partner that potentially will live overseas if the marriage ends. I hope he is at least thinking about that. I mean Chris has money she doesn't, but custody could turn ugly. I would definitely be worried about that if I was a family member.

I don't think there may be issues if she decides to stay home and put her career on hold to have children or just follow him around, like she seems to be doing now. The age difference, expectations in life, cultural difference will enter sooner or later. I don't see this lasting.

I think he very much wants kids so I can absolutely see them having one or two, staying together to try and make stuff work for them but eventually divorcing. That’s not really saying much considering divorce isn’t exactly uncommon these days.

Real or not, I agree that it is likely his family is a bit disappointed in his choice. Maybe not Scott, but his mom and sisters seem pretty down to earth and grounded. i have a history of shipping raphael with mona, joi, and mezcaal. michelangelo with kala and trib. and donatello with april (2012 only) and jhanna. and also some other sillier ones too (zakatello …)

i mean now that i’m thinking about it, i’m probably more defensive of a ship the more underrated it is, especially if it’s backed by canon.

like 2012 ramona is adorable and i like that it’s canon, but it’s not underrated at all so i feel no need to defend it much. then with 87 ramona, it’s not rlly canon but it’s not underrated either, so i can enjoy it both romantically and platonically without defending it.

but with leolotus, ppl forget it all the time even tho it’s more canon than most tmnt couples, and i have to make my own ship content anyway :p
