Sorry I hope this isn't too sappy but I wanted to write a big thank you to everyone that came to stream last night and just abosultely obliterated me with kindness and support

For folks who weren't in stream: I had planned on setting up a commission thing on kofi to start tomarrow (today, now, but a day after this chaos event) to raise money to buy myself a christmas gift of a Switch, planned on clearing out a whole few days to try and earn money, but after figuring out to make a goal post thing on the KoFi page and on stream I decided to save from posting commission listings until I had a full day to sit down and stream it all since I had something else planned in the middle of the day

I did an art stream later in the day and let me tell you I was *floored* by kindness and people were just being so nice and im aughsdglhsdsdgsds. Not only did we meet the Kofi Goal, BUT THEY KEPT GOING. I'm scared to look at the total amount and I plan on refunding some folks when they're not looking because I feel so bad because tbh I haven't deserved or rightfully earned the amount of generosity given to me but I just wanted to say like, holy shit. Thank you? Thank you oh my goodness

I HAVE A SWITCH NOW. AND SOME GAMES. Animal Crossing and Monster Hunter: Rise to start. I've played Monster Hunter before so it's a love of mine but Animal Crossing is something Ive only gotten to play the free pocket camp phone version of, and watch videos of, so I'll have to learn the woes and wins of that game and I'm super excited!! And I'll be able to play online with people too holy shit

If you were in stream then you already know but if you werent or maybe tapped out early then I tried to caluclate and make a list of people who wanted doodles for what they donated, and the amount to my old commission list (sorry I haven't updated my examples in 2 years) and I plan on drawing doodles for the large donators and the folks who really just slammed me with love. I have some drawings to post already! If you see me drawing something on stream and finish it and not post it pls remind me because Im REALLY bad at that

Also I promised chat that I wouldn't open the Switch box until I did it with them so we can do that later tonight when I get fully home, but YEAH!

"You've really never kissed someone before?"  

Vash groans loudly as he shoves his face into a pillow. "I came here for advice, not to be made fun of." You let out a giggle as you watched him flop onto your bed. 

To be honest, you'd be shocked if he had. Sure, he was attractive, but he was also a bundle of nerves, a ticking time bomb of anxiety ready to detonate at any point. You'd known him for a long time, since the two of you were kids, matter of fact. Even back then, he had terrible luck with romance, and it didn't get better when you went off to college together. He would often come back to the dorm with a defeated expression on his face, bemoaning how awful his date went, and the two of you would spend the rest of the night proclaiming your hate for love. Pints of ice cream in tow and a sappy rom-com on the TV until you eventually fall asleep on the couch together. It was a ritual, one of the main reasons you were so close to him. 

Reaching over to stroke his hair, you tried to hide the playfulness in your voice. "Come on, you big baby. It's not that bad. Lots of people haven't had their first kiss!" 

He turned his head to look at you, a pout on his face. "Have you had yours?" 

"Yeah, but I also am not as socially awkward as you are," you quipped, rubbing his blonde strands between your fingers. "If it's worth anything, I think once you got over that, you would have everyone falling over you. You're a sweet guy with the biggest heart I've ever seen, and despite your doubts, you're extremely attractive."

His cheeks burned red as you told him this, and you grinned, knowing exactly how to rile him up. Vash was too easy to tease, and seeing him sputter and cough from nervousness always put you in a good mood. Your relationship with him was odd but one you wouldn't trade for the world. 

"You really think so?"  

"I do, yes."  

He took a deep breath as he sat up, grabbing your hand stroking his hair with his own. His face was bright red as he stared at you with determination. "Then will you be my first?"  

Your eyes widened, staring at him with a slacked jaw. 

"What?" 

Immediately, Vash was stumbling over his words, trying to come up with excuses. He stood up, pacing back and forth while fumbling with his hands in the air. "W-Well, I was just thinking that- If someone like you really thinks so, then maybe..." he paused, turning to you with widened eyes. "Not to say you're like, unattractive! I think you're very attractive, like super attractive-" he groans, shoving his face into his hands and trying to hide himself from your gaze. "Gah, just ignore I said anything, I'm sorry."

The room was quiet for a few long moments, your face unreadable as you stared at him. Visible beads of sweat started forming on the edge of his hairline as he looked back at you through the gaps of his fingers, his eyes searching yours for any sign. Any sign that you didn't hate him now, that you wouldn't leave him. 

"Took you long enough."

His body froze, and a silent gasp left his lips as he stammered. "Wh-What?"

Cute.

You hummed softly, standing up to slowly walk over to him. "You're not exactly subtle, ya know? I've seen how you look at me, how you'd scoot closer to graze your hand against mine whenever we sit together," His uneasiness was visibly peaking in his facial expression, and you felt a tinge of guilt. To try to ease it, you stepped closer to where your faces were inches apart and cupped his cheek. Vash let out a silent sigh of relief as he felt your touch, and you couldn't help but smile as he nestled into you. "I don't hate you nor resent you for telling me. In fact, I'm very happy you did."

His eyes fluttered shut as he turned to press featherlight kisses into your palm, reaching up to hold it with his own hand. You could feel his breath shuddering as he tried to recollect his bearings, almost as if trying to ground himself back into reality. "I thought it was all a joke. I didn't think you were actually serious." 

"You may be socially awkward, but you're also incredibly transparent. I've felt this way for a while; I was just waiting for you to come clean."

Vash's eyes welled up with emotion, and he blinked away a few tears as he continued to hold your hand against his cheek. "I didn't want to mess up our friendship," he admitted, his voice quivering. "I was so scared I would mess it all up. I mean, you've seen how all my dates have gone." 

Thumbing his cheek, you lean in to rest your head on his chest, smiling contentedly. He was always like this, too scared to pursue happiness for himself if it meant risking something important. You would never push him into telling you, and you didn't want to. To you, he was everything, and as long as he showed the same, nothing else mattered. "I'm not blaming you. I understand. Regardless of anything, the fact is that you did it eventually, and I'd be more than willing to be your first kiss."

You lifted your face to look him in the eyes, and you tilted your head invitingly. It was his decision whether he wanted to or not; either way, it wouldn't change anything between you two. There was a long pause as you both gazed at each other, and eventually, you felt his hand glide down the side of your body to wrap around your waist. Your breath quickened as he tentatively leaned down, your lips barely brushing against each other. And then, finally, he kissed you. 

It was gentle at first, his fingers softly digging into your side to bring you closer to him. You could feel your chest about to explode from happiness, and you reached up to wrap your arms around his neck to help him. Vash groaned softly as his tongue traced the ridge of your bottom lip, asking for entrance. You opened your mouth to grant him permission, and he took as much as possible, exploring you to his heart's content. He was inexperienced and just a bit too enthusiastic, but it's what made him all the more endearing. What mattered was that you were his first. His first friend, his first roommate, and now his first kiss. 

He helped you lay back against the bed, and as you settled into the mattress, his hands gripped your sides. It was like he was trying to convey that he felt the same. He wanted you; all he had ever wanted was you. You breathed a happy sigh against his lips and eventually pulled back, panting softly. "How was that?"

Vash looked at you with adoration, like he had the entire universe in his hands and never wanted to let you go. "I think I want a lot more first times with you."

A laugh escaped you, and you leaned in again. "I think I'd like that."

SONADOW:

I can't honestly say something that hasn't been said before, because this ship is massive. And for a good reason. Its just the epitome of all the things I like. Rivals to friends to lovers, red and blue, opposing yet complementary personalities, good chemistry, the list goes on and on.

Its just that mutual respect yet banter that always gets me. I've TRIED abandoning ship, trust me. But this ship was just tailored to my tastes, and i cant get rid of the brainrot so much that it has become a problem :)

2. TAILSMO:

MMMMM THE PAIN. I love this ship because its so innocent and cutsey while being absolutely depressing!

Cosmo deserved SO MUCH MORE than what she got, and to this day it makes me so sad we never got Sonic X season 4 in where Cosmo comes back as a robot or something. The seed she left at the end too! They Absolutely wanted to bring her back and i will forever be sad about it.

They're both guardians on their own way, but while Blaze thinks its a burden Sonic Thinks its a blessing. The parallels are just YUMMY. And also Blaze deserves a golden retriever bf.

They were canon, okay? When i was little i remember loving them together while reading the archie comics. They were so sappy and Sonic was OOC but like, they made me happy. And that hasn't faded yet.

based on the backstory and personalities of the Mikalesons, do you have any headcannons about Mikaelsons + religion?

i think it's honestly SUCH an interesting topic and concept seeing as how their all you know immortals n shit and magics real and etc etc. unlike say, btvs where Willow literally invokes Osiris, tvd doesn't really make any solid references or claims about the whole Deity Situation until apparently legacies but I haven't watched it yet and sounds Kinda Dumb so I'm ignoring that lol. But the rule of thumb with shows like these seems to be that once you say draculas and witches are Super Real then it's open season for Zeus enter stage right like it's an episode of Xena. Which when you look at the Mikaelsons....... Wild.

I think that Freya, Finn and Rebekah are the most unironically straight-forwardly religious and I think they've stuck to the norse/scandinavian beliefs they grew up with. Freya both because of the 1,000 years of Napping Nonsense but also because she's a witch and that's the school she was taught in so she's sticking with it. Finn for similar naptime reasons and also because he doesn't see a reason to change and didn't even when they were in France and hanging out with christians. For Rebekah it's like pure sentimentality. She likes a lot of the aesthetics of mainly catholicism (the swagiest of sects) but at the end of the day she's still out here making offerings to Freya (the goddess not the sister fdjkgdfsdfs) because she's a sappy little sentimental bitch and that's what brings her comfort. I don't think she's particularly religious which I think Freya and Finn are but she enjoys the celebrations and finds comfort in the actions/words/rituals/prayers/etc.

Kol and Elijah are more wiggly in their beliefs. Kol still calls back to his roots a LOT but he's also expanded out over the years since he's still a witch at heart and a curious cat. He's less interested in following any one religion and more in what resonates with him. So his believe system is very eclectic. What he believes in he believes in 10000% and is dead serious about. He's also experimented and educated himself about world religions the most out of all of them. Dude could probably teach a clss tbh.

Elijah is the one who's actually been the closest you can be to an atheist in a world like this. He's had periods of like, religious nihilism and periods were he's a little more hopeful about it. He's just spent so much of his life trying to be the Good Reliable Son and like Niklaus praying for divine intervention both with their father and with Niklaus only to get shit in return that it broke him and he just stopped and abandoned all religion/spirituality and focused only on the tangible. Hope's birth fucking shakes him to the core lol. Generally tho even after her he's still more in the like, "not my scene but i do love a good festivity" camp.

Niklaus is an evangelical's idea of an atheist where it's not "i don't believe in god" but instead "i feel god personally slighted me at my bday party so now i'll hurl rocks at him for the rest of my life out of pure spite". his sense of abandonment, unwantedness and paranoia doesn't stop at the threshold of religion. Ofc, he's old as dirt and literally has his own coven that bitches KEEP FORGETTING HE HAS so he's not in doubt that the divine exists. But Thor didn't protect him from his father's abuse so fuck that guy and jesus didn't fix SHIT for him so equally fuck him.

Wouldn't be shocked tho to see him "ironically" do rites/sacrifices to Odin via shit like the death of an enemy/creatively using old school practices for physical/psychological torture bc he's Like That. Does he also end up carving a mjolnir into Hope's crib and giving her a little one on a necklace? yes but this ain't about that hush.

Kol and Niklaus are also the most likely to have an affinity for gods like Loki and his children for reasons I feel are obvious lol. The holiday arguments this creates between them and Finn are unhinged.

1 - coffee shop au for your most self-indulgent rare pair

"I've got a medium drip for Blaine!" Willie called, laying the drink on the counter. "And a grande nonfat mocha for Kurt!" He smiled at the very cute (and obviously together) guys that came up to fetch their drinks and Willie waved as they went off, hand in hand.

Looking at the clock though, Willie groaned. He knew he'd regret taking the double shift, but he had rent to pay and paints to buy, so the money was appreciated. He knew if he really wanted to he could ask Caleb for help, but he hadn't gotten that bad yet.

Maybe it was foolish, given Caleb was wealthy as Croesus, and more than happy to give his beloved foster song whatever he wanted. But he also was a self made man, and Willie wanted to prove he could do the same, make a mark for himself without it being because of Caleb's money or name.

Thus working at a coffee shop for shit hours while he got his Graphic Design degree, plus his Art minor. Maybe a useless degree to some, but he had already designed a few ads that kept his fridge stocked, and a job lined up for once he had his diploma next year. Giving him lots of time to work on his art, maybe even sell some of it.

All in all, Willie didn't have many complaints in his life.

Except perhaps that it didn't include any romance. Willie had been tragically single since he and Dante went kaput, and well seeing happy couples sit five feet away on dates and morning after drinks kind of stung.

Case in point, the super hot guys that just walked in. A blond in a pink hoodie with a honest to goodness fanny pack. The other with dark slicked back hair and in a leather jacket. They contrasted beautifully and the sappy looks they gave each other made Willie ache.

But he threw on his customer service smile, and greeted them. "Hey there, what can I get for you?"

"I'll have a large iced chai tea latte," the leather jacket wearing one said.

"Oat milk cappuccino please," the blond replied.

"Lex you know you'll be wired all night if you drink that now."

"Well Reginald, if I don't I'm gonna fall asleep at my drumset tonight. So caffiene me up."

"You guys in a band?" Willie asked, giving them their total.

"Yeah, Sunset Curve," Reginald said, shooting him finger guns. "Tell your friends!"

"We're playing the Satellite tonight," Lex said. "You should come check us out."

Willie's smile faded at that. "Aw man, if I didn't have to open tomorrow I totally would. I've heard of you guys, you're really good."

"Thanks, I'm Reggie by the way. This is Alex."

"Willie." Then he blushed as Alex shoved their change and a few extra bills into the tip jar.

"Well we go on at nine, so if you wanna come even just for an hour, we'd love to have you there," Alex said.

"I'll get them to set a ticket out for you if you want," Reggie offered.

"Why would you do that?" Willie asked. "You don't know me."

Reggie blushed and shrugged. "Always was a sucker for a pretty face, plus we always try to do right by our fans."

"You think I'm cute?" Willie asked with a smirk, sitting his chin on his palms. "Well neither of you are hard on the eyes either."

"T-thanks," Alex stuttered, turning the softest pink, rivalling his hoodie.

Sure Willie knew that they might only be complimenting him for a one night tumble with a third, but hey, he wouldn't exactly turn the chance down. It wasn't an epic romance, but it was more than he'd been offered lately.

Plus he didn't think he'd kick either of them outta bed given the chance.

"Ahem, your drinks are ready," Fuego called from down the counter, rolling his eyes at them.

Alex and Reggie both grinned, still flushed, and they took their drinks, but neither of them rushed to leave, almost reluctant to say goodbye to Willie. But then Alex got a text that made his face screw up and he muttered that they had to get to sound check.

"I'll try to make it tonight," he promised.

"Hope you do!" Reggie exclaimed.

"See you tonight Willie!" Alex called, yanking Reggie out and into the street, Willie watching them go.

He got back to work, restocking and cleaning between each lull, wondering if he could squeeze in a nap after work. Only then, firtune smiled on him and Mabel came in, asking if he would switch shifts with her tomorrow, meaning he would work the closing shift, letting him stay out late, and even sleep in the next day.

He was pretty quick to agree to the change, and took his share of the tips before flying home. He found he was too amped for a nap, but he managed to wash the worst of the coffee stink off himself and picked out his cutest crop top and snazziest socks.

And given the hungry, predatory looks that Alex and Reggie gave him as they spotted him from the stage? Well he figured he chose well.

And the next morning, when they woke him up with kisses and coffee from his cupboards? He knew he did.

F1rpf, although I have a fic for The Sandman and one for Our Flag Means Death (let's forget about my works for spn lol)

So the first one is Odd ducks, the fic I wrote for The Sandman, which is pretty normal since the fandom is bigger. After that, only F1, with Let's try something else (sewis fake dating feat Seb and gay panic), A Change of Habits (my lonnnnnnng chewis fic following the 2022 season), Your Crush is Showing (Brocedes, the first long fic I completed. Lots of smut.) and finally, Remember to forget (me), brocedes lewis!amnesia fic. I am very proud of the last one, mostly because it's super angsty and I torture Nico so much in it lmao

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I do, actually, but usually I procrastinate on it, and I took ages. It's just, like, I feel it important to thank everyone for the comments, but it can feel a little repetitive and so I just tend to... Push it back to the next day, again and again. When it's on a multi-chapter fic, I reply before publishing the new chapter usually, but if it's a one-shot or the last chapter... Well. You'll get an answer but god knows when ahah

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Oof, that's between Losing it all, a really dark fic about Nico, and Too Late, a bad ending 3344 fic based on Monza 2021 :)

Damn, that's a difficult question, I love writting sappy endings... But actually I think it's the ending of Welcome in the family!

It's a cute fic about Kimi/Tonio/Minttu, and the ending is definitely what I consider one of the happiest, mostly because of a little time-jump that allows to see the future ^^

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I did once, actually, on the 3344 fic I mentionned earlier. I think the person was just a max fan and didn't appreciate the way I make him suffer... I had put the write tags and all, so idk why they clicked on it. Anyway, it was scary and upsetting and I'm glad it only happened once ^^"

Hell yeah. Go have a look, honestly, there's no way I can summarise it. I write way too much of it, I think (and most of it hasn't been published yet I think)

Uh, good question? I don't know, I get compliments about the characterisation... But other than that, I like to think I have a pretty good sense of humour and I'm able to make people laugh (or like, I hope. I make myself laugh, which is a good begining)

The fucking dialogues.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I like to use petnames in other languages cause petnames always feel more personnal when you use it in your own language. So with the F1 drivers, it's nice cause not all of them are english! I tend to put some German or some French sometimes in my fics for full sentences, but I try not to do it too much. If you don't understand the language, it can be very frustrating.

Nah, actually, I remember very well of my first fic. I was 15, it was two pages long, I was feeling bad about writing a fic in the first place although it didn't involve any romance. I deleted it a few hours after posting it, ahah. It was for the fandom of a french youtube show called Aventures. It's like, people playing a dnd style game, it's pretty cool and I was really into it for a long time.

20. Favourite fic you’ve written?

The fic I love the most of is definitely Up or Down. It's one of my favourite fic I've wrote. It's one of my early work, so it's a little clumsy and far from perfect, but I have good memories of myself writing it. I was in vacation in Rome at the time, alone, and I spent my time wandering in the city and thinking about my fic, it was amazing. And well, the content of the fic is also nice I guess XDDD

they both love to hear about the things you like; music included! granted, you won't often hear them say it out loud, especially from anti, but hey, it's the thought that counts, yeah?

outwardly, anti scoffs at whatever you're making him listen to, acting like its an inconvenience, but there's a reason he lets you play the music for him anyways. he often actually likes the songs and artists you introduce him to; even the ones that seem WAY out of character for him to enjoy. turns out he actually has pretty broad music taste

"dude, this song fuckin' sucks." (his head has been nodding to the beat since it started playing)

of course, his preferences lean more towards rock, death metal, breakcore, and dubstep, which is the type of music he'll blast loud enough to be heard through the entire house without any shame. but, if you occasionally make him listen to a sappy love song or a pop song too catchy for it's own good, you might catch him listening to it with headphones on at 3am.

he tends to get really into his music too, for lack of better phrasing. listening to music can change his entire mood, for better or for worse; naturally, he prefers music that'll get him fuckin pumped up !!!!

and then, we have dark. his taste in music is a lot more enclosed; he tends to prefer slower, gentle music, often in the circle of classical, jazz, swing, sometimes opera and even musical theatre when he's feeling more dramatic. he'd probably take a liking to the rocky horror picture show.

that being said though, he's willing to listen to whatever you'd like him to listen to; he can tell it means something to you, and he'll trust your judgement.

"hm, this is... interesting. who did you say composed this? i'll have to take a look into their catalogue later."

he's not super likely to actively enjoy or seek out a lot of the music you show him, as he generally just doesn't like a lot of modern music. there's definitely the occasional exception though.

maybe try to avoid stuff that's too energetic (anything that anti would like basically), as it can give him headaches.

i imagine trying to jam out with both of them would be a little difficult considering their very very opposing music tastes (anti thinks dark's music is boring, dark thinks anti's music is just mindless noise).

I think I've already posted about how it's helped me but still. truly do not know where my life would be if I never found that fic. I saw so much of myself in Dave and having that, seeing someone who was going through some of the same things as me, who had the same feelings. I started rooting for Dave to get better, to recover and live a happy life. To be happy and safe and well. It sounds super sappy but that made me realize that I deserve that too. If someone that I see so much of myself in deserves that, why don't I?

So, I started fighting to recover. Can say that, yeah, things are still hard, but it's better. A LOT better than what it was. It's so strange to say that but it's much better.

Don't want to get too emotional about it but just. Thank you. It sounds strange to say but I don't think that my life would be like this, clean, happier, and healthier if it wasn't for nypw.

Tag game: eight shows to get to know me

I was tagged by @scienceoftheidiot and @goneadrift (thank you!! 🥺💕), and now the deal is that I get to rant about a couple of shows I like, so let's get straight to it!

1. House M.D.

- Knowing how many seasons are there in this show, I think it says something that I purposefully rewatched the full thing several times, and I probably will do it again at some point. Many characters from this series have a special place in my heart, and oh boy do I love myself a good medical drama sometimes. + the different medical cases are just very interesting for me to observe, even though I am by no means a medical specialist, let's say I know a thing or two from this field x)) (and some of you are probably aware of that, ahah)

2. Lethal Weapon

- This one is another one of these shows that I occasionally come back to for a rewatch, the chemistry between two main characters is amazing, and the main plotline is pretty good imo, + it's a classic detective-involving series, where, granted, not every case is super intriguing or complicated, but I think the characters and their development and relationships with each other - all this usually goes first when determining a series that I'll most probably like, and it delivers that part for sure! (Yes I used this specific gif because now I can't stop picturing this, but with Royais + Hughes, lolol, sorry I have a brainrot)

Also, look at this silly little totally not dysfunctional guy, come on, you can't help but love him:

3. Lucifer

- Ohohoho this one was one of the first quite long-term obsessions for me - I was watching it with my good friend as it was coming out (pretty sure starting from like, season 2 we began to watch it as it was airing, or at least I was and then I dragged this friend along for the ride, ahah), and I remember having so much fun with it - making theories, trying to predict the direction for the next season, simping over the main cast, being (more often unironically than not) frustrated with love triangles, all the good stuff. I also really like the soundtrack used in the series, and, of course, I have to mention the fact that its main leads are a blonde badass detective who is actually a sweetheart and her goofy dark-haired bastard-certified material partner who can actually be very scary and powerful to anyone but her :333

Go figure if I have a type or not, right (omg I just realized she also has a cute pet name and it's "detective")

4. Fleabag

- This one was such a pleasant surprise for me, the further I was watching the more invested into it I was getting, and in the end it turned out to be such an emotional rollercoaster, while also being able to handle a balance between more serious scenes and great humor really well. The romance plotline turned out to be very interesting too - overall, it's a great pretty short series that I can definitely recommend for people to check out at some point (I was indeed very happy when I found out @goneadrift was watching it too, hehe)

5. Sherlock (the BBC one)

- Honestly, this one is associated with many good memories for me - we used to watch it for a couple of years in a row with my parents during New Year, and it was like, one of the highlights of our celebration. Life just seemed so much easier these days, and I always remember them with warmth and joy. But! Apart from the sappy stuff - I genuinely think it's a nice modern AU Sherlock adaptation, hehe, as always, I pay a lot of attention to the chemistry between the characters, especially the main cast, and I think pretty much everyone nailed it - I find the characters from this series to be very enjoyable to watch. The other point that I want to mention here is the directing - I remember myself being very impressed by some of the shots and directing/editing choices they made there, and, of course, the main soundtrack is now pretty much engraved into my memory, hehe

(So yeah, aside from the last season, which I don't think is that bad, but definitely not as good as the earlier ones imo, it's a great show!)

6. Elementary

- Surprise surprise, another Sherlock adaptation involving detective storyline(s), who would've thought, right? Honestly, I don't remember a lot about it, since I haven't rewatched it in a looong time, ahah, but, believe it or not, I still love it and have a couple of good memories associated with it. Used to watch it during weekends back in the day when I still watched TV, lolol, but yeah, I think it's a pretty unique Sherlock adaptation, and you can definitely have fun watching it!

7. Forever

- That one is unexpected, definitely not my usual series of choice, but surprisingly I finished it pretty quickly and was glad I decided to give it a shot x)

(For the record - it's a series about a guy who works in the morgue while trying to find how to get rid of his immortality curse 👀👌).

8. Fullmetal Alchemist

- Gonna follow the lead of @scienceoftheidiot and add this one on the list too, because my god this series has me in a chokehold. Specifically Royai stuff of course, but I think in general this is the kind of anime (both FMA and FMAB btw) people who are generally not that much into anime can enjoy (I am saying as I am, apparently, one of these people, ahah). It's just a great story with a great cast and lovely imagery and soundtrack, I mean, what else can you possibly need? (Meanwhile here I am, going absolutely insane every time I think about my two beloved war criminals kissing)

My fic year in review

@calaisreno tagged me, so here goes :-)

All in all this was a very creative year in fandom, and fandom was a much-needed source of joy and fun, even though I was recovering from a car accident, worked an insane amount, had Covid, and had a whole load of other RL issues. I'm so grateful to fandom, and writing, and reading fic, it helps so much to have an outlet like this, an escape hatch from RL when it gets too grim. Don't get me wrong, I've had worse years, but it was plenty stressful, and I'm glad I had fandom.

So here goes:

Total number of completed stories: 6 (though one of them is still posting, I completed it in 2022.)

Total word count: about 90k, plus about 10 k at least in unpublished drafts and snippets I'll never finish.

Fandoms written in: BBC Sherlock

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d expected? More, much more. I finished 2021 with a nasty case of writers' block, and I finished 6 stories this year. That's amazing, and I'm glad my flow is back.

What’s your own favorite story of the year? Spare Parts because I got to say some stuff about Sherlock and John I always wanted to say, and I did a whole lot of world-building and plotting.

Did you take any writing risks this year? See above, I practially wrote a Sci-Fi novel.

Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the new year? There's some stories I want to write, but I wouldn't call them goals. I'm also thinking of participating in FTH, but I'm not sure yet.

Most popular story of the year? Toss-up between Dont' Read the Last Page and All I Want for Christmas (Is Proof), apparetly you guys really like Sherlock and John wearing slutty Christmas outfits and sappy parentlock ;-)

Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion: My Hotel Transylvania AU Zing and You'll Miss It sank like a stone, but I had a lot of fun writing it ;-)

Spare Parts is super niche, so it didn't have the "mass appeal" that Bakers had while posting, but I think it'll find its audience, and if only Jrow, me and three other people like it, that's still plenty. I might still be crazy for wanting to write a sequel, but you guys, the amount of world-building I did, I barely scratched the surface. So. I'm not sure yet, but there might be a sequel. (or two, I have two really good ideas)

Most fun story to write: All three stories I wote for the Year of the Crackfic challenge were incedibly fun, especially Speak Now. It was pure wish fulfillment. Also, I stand by my theory that Mrs Hudson could take Mary in a fight.

Most unintentionally telling story: The Bakers ficlets for the Austrian traditions, probably.

Biggest disappointment: Spare Parts contains some conversations and some passages I'm insanely proud of, and I'm not getting that much of a reaction to the parts I really love, so... yeah. But hey, all is relative, and I'm insanely grateful to every single person who reads anything I write.

Biggest surprise: Every year, that people read and like my stuff. Thank you so much, every single one of you.

Also, the grumpy, hurt, bitter 24th century John Watson who kidnapped the rest of my writing year sometime in spring was a surprise as well ;-) This story wasn't even on the list of WIPS and then I was 5k in... (thanks, fake fic title challenge, and thanks, @whatnext2020 for the idea).

4. Are there any writers that inspire you?

is it possible for me to say every single one to ever exist? in terms of fandom, there are definitely writers that are absolute weapons when it comes to gut-wrenching beautifully-made stuff that i worship (maybe i need to make a fic rec list or a collection or something idk) but in terms of actual published authors, i adore madelline miller's prose, it's just so beautifully written and makes me sob and scream and cry every time. i also love donna tartt's prose and also her characters and how deep and subtle some of the nuances in her novels are. i also love love love kazuo ishuguro and philip k dick for both their science-fiction works that manage to be so funny and so heartbreaking all at once, as well as their masterful dialogue. so yeah, i've got quite a few inspirations, but whether i actually manage to emmulate any of the gorgeous stuff they have written is TBD.

25. Have you ever daydreamed about side adventures/spin-offs from your fic? Tell us about them!

Literally ALL THE TIME. As its you hobs, my lovely mutual, I'll tell you about that hermitcraft fic and it's worldbuilding that i had planned. Before my muse was ripped from me and I fell out of touch with hermitcraft, I had visions of creating loads of off-shooting oneshots and works that explore all the different members and their backstories, and how they managed to end up in the main timeline in that au. it included a prequel of how mumbo and grian met and slowly gained each other's trust - it was agonisingly sad I will let you know now. I still have that stuff half-written because I am too attached to it but I am unlikely to ever go back to it and expand on that beautiful, tragic little world

35. Ramble about any fic-related thing you want!

It's a topic that's been spoken about so so much in recent years, but I just love how fanfiction, especially sites like ao3, are perfect symbols of how communism could and would work in our modern society. because authors do not get paid for their troubles, for their back ache and eye strain and hours hunched over a screen trying to figure out just the right words. we receive little-to-no praise most of the time, especially in smaller fandoms. so in theory, it shouldn't work. writers shouldn't post things onto platforms like ao3 and ff.net if, by capitalist standards, our labour is not being paid for. surely if it was simply a hobby, we could just write and keep it to ourselves? but because of the little communities people have built online, and the fandoms that have grown tight and strong, there is a really amazing band of people that group together to write fanfiction just because they love to do it, regardless of the time and effort taken, and want to show their creations to the world. this is especially true on ao3, which is non-proft, and is run by the people for the people. maybe that's why it receives so much goddamn funding every single time it needs it. (what a beautiful thought) sorry that last bit got super sappy, i just think it's super neat! Equally, I do think some people on ao3 need to relearn politeness and ettiquette. so many times i've had people either trauma-dumping without warrant in my comments or just rudely demanding the next chapter?? like? i am a person with work and school and a life, i cannot sit by a computer and pump out chapter after chapter for the rest of my life. it's insane and I think more people need to talk about it. I've been thinking about putting a blanket disclaimer in my notes about doing stuff like that because it sometimes has gotten so bad.

11. Something you want to do again next year? I went to a very cool underground bar/venue in my town for the first time and I really hope I get to go more often!! I really want to see more little shows this year basically

14. Favorite book you read this year? Oh Gideon The Ninth hands down. I jumped head first into tlt and I don't regret anything (currently working on a Harrow cosplay too!!)

My bf and I went on a trip to Italy this summer and on our last day we were eating outside and we had?? a french youtuber stumble and almost fall RIGHT beside our table it was such a weird moment of recognition I was stunned because?? is this who I think it is that almost ate shit right beside me?? in Italy of all places???? And when I asked my bf if he recognized the guy bc I wanted to be sure of who I saw, he didn't even know him.

19. What’re you excited about for next year? Seeing Ghost again lmao. Also getting more tattoos!

20. What’s something you learned this year? Kinda learned to set better boundaries! It's helped a lot to be able to protect myself and not let people walk all over me, and being able to communicate in a healthier way when ppl I care about are hurting me and not realizing it

21. What’s something new about your place of residence (room, home, or general location) now vs the start of the year? Umm acquired more trinkets and Miku figures lmao,, Oh I also reorganized my print wall but other than that not much has changed!

22. Favorite place you visited this year? Edinburgh for suuuure I really fell in love with the whole city but the castle was especially beautiful

Describe one Yeah I made a few new characters for my graduation portfolio :^) I don't want to spoil too much so I'll briefly talk abt Josué!
