Do you guys (gender-neutral) know of a good alternative to SwiftKey? I've been using it for years, and I want to stop using it. And I don't really know of a good alternative. Because Microsoft is allowing access to AI such as Chat GPT (through Bing), and I'm not comfortable with it*. So I'm jumping ship.
The main things I'm looking for are:
Custom dictionary, possibly sharing through multiple devices
Ability to use multiple themes (even custom ones)
Accessibility features
Compatibility with all of my Android devices, especially my Kindle
Emojis (sounds weird, but it helps me communicate sometimes; also memes)
Incognito mode (I don't want my keeb to remember everything I type, and it gives me peace of mind)
Multiple languages
There are probably other things, but the ones above are the main ones. Also please don't judge me for some of the features I'm looking for. It just gives me peace of mind.
(*=There's a possibility of Microsoft using all of my data for AI. Though I haven't verified that. It's just the possibility that scares me.)

Writerblr Creator questionnaire
Thank you @the-ellia-west and @the-golden-comet for the tag!
also sorry for my semi-haiatus, my Laptop fucking imploded in japan and its taken so long to get my new one. I didn't really feel like doing tags and such on my phone, so. Ill be more active again heron out.
How long have you had your writing tumblr/writeblr? a fast and loose estimate is fine!
uh. like January or Febuary pf 2024.
What led you to create it?
This one -> @angst-is-love-angst-is-life convinced me to make a tumblr and I was like "writblr? A) thats a funny ass name and B) SIGN ME THE FUCK UP-"
What’s your favourite thing about the writeblr community?
That no one is going to judge me if i suddenly disappear for like a month/don't post stuff
What’s one thing you’d like your mutuals to know about you?
Just because i dont interact with your tag doesn't mean i dont want to do them, it means that I WAS doing them and then i forgot
Is there anything you’d like to see more of on your dash?
Moar of the same, i suppose.
Which wips or writing projects are you noodling about, lately?
(noodling?) Sunset, mostly. lots of background stuff like history, religions, culture... yeah.
How long have you been working on them?
Sunset? seven months. shit, its halfway through the year. White candy is about the same, and Frontline is like a month old WIP.
Do you remember what inspired them/what got you started?
For Sunset, I had a old WIP that i had way back when and i wasnt satisfied with the character or the story, or anything really. so I tore it down, scrapped it, and started a new one.
White Candy was just a kind of spontaneous, "hey, i want to write something i havent tried before".
Frontline stemmed from a odd Monday desire to write Sci-fi.
How much time, in your best estimation, do you spend thinking about them?
I think about Sunset all the time. Frontline and White Candy probably get like two hours a day, each.
When someone asks the dreaded, “what do you write about,” question, what do you usually say?
A Fantasy action romance.
Name any characters you created. side characters, protagonists, antagonists, characters who’ve never been written, the first original abomination you ever pulled from your ass; whomever you’d like!
I'm actually not quite sure how to answer this question, but. the First OC I made was Enju(延珠, roughly translates to Lady Pearl or Delicate Pearl, depending on how you read it). She was the main character in my first WIP and she was a Mage and part of a party of six.
Who’s the most unhinged?
out of all of my OC's, probably Camellia.
Who comes the most naturally for you to write?
Tira.
Do you ever cringe at them?
Alittle, occasionally.
How much control do you feel you have over your characters?
Complete, probably. if they write themselves, they write themselves to my vision.
Do you enjoy people asking questions about your characters? and do you have a preferred means of receiving said questions?
Oh yes. put it in my Ask box. I'll answer them as best i can, the more specific the question the better tho(sometimes i stress about not answering the question y'all ask the way you wanted)
What makes you want to follow another writeblr account?
a good and open-minded attitude.
what makes you decide against following?
Generally people who are angry. I have no reason to talk to angry people, and I have nothing to fear from them.
NP tags: @ominous-feychild @agirlandherquill @the-letterbox-archives
Sorry if I tagged you and you already did this; I haven't been keeping up with my tags in a while(due to my laptop imploding, as mentioned before)

🎶 Do you listen to music while you write?
👁 Do you have someone proofread for you?
📚 Who's your favorite author (or a few of them)?
Thank you, Anna, for the ask! From this ask game.
🎶 Do you listen to music while you write?
Yes, sometimes! If you had asked me this a year ago, though, the answer would have been a hard no. For most of my life, I definitely preferred silence or white noise/ambient sound/lyricless music. I think writing on my phone on my subway commute—I'm often wearing earbuds—has trained my brain to be more OK with writing while music is playing. Some days, though, I still prefer good old golden silence.
👁 Do you have someone proofread for you?
Uhhhh. 😅 No, I don't. Which perhaps explains why typos and awkward sentences make their way in sometimes.
I do many rereads during my editing process, which helps me catch obvious problems (hopefully/mostly, anyway, haha). I listen to the chapter using text-to-speech tools and also have ProWritingAid, which is good for catching some things. (Other suggestions, I flat-out ignore.)
📚 Who's your favorite author (or a few of them)?
*answering this in the context of book publishing, not writeblr, hope that's OK* I don't have a satisfactory answer for this question. 😅 I'm not a particularly loyal reader—that is, I won't necessarily read a book just because it was written by someone whose work I've read before. The story needs to grab me; I follow stories, not authors, I guess.
When I was a kid, I absolutely had favourite authors, series, etc., but now, as an adult, my attention is spread so thin across so many different things, I really try to read (a) things I really, really, really get excited about, or (b) stuff I have to read for work, lol.

Ask meme: #6 from the last three you posted and #4 from one more. I didn't look this up so gl hope the questions don't suck
The Happy Fic Writer Ask Game
Describe what you do and your feelings after posting a chapter. (For example: When do you usually post a fic/chapter update? How do you celebrate a posting? Are you the type to refresh constantly?, etc.)
It depends on the story, really. Usually, I will copy over the text of the chapter from whatever text editor I was using, and then hit preview and do a quick proofread, for formatting as well as typos. If I'm posting anonymously, e.g. to a DW meme, that's usually it. And then I try to distract myself from the nervous F5 dance. If I'm posting to AO3, I'll save as a draft and do at least one more read-through for small errors. Sometimes on my phone, which helps me catch more mistakes.
WIP-Centric Ask the Writer!
6) What is the most frequent emotion in this story?
Ah, for the readers or for the characters? I'll answer for BFS.
I think for readers I'd like the dominant emotion to be curiosity, and that seems to be working well for me. For the characters… tenderness, I suppose. Tenderess ahead of trust, because the relationship in BFS works in reverse. First comes marriage, then comes getting to know each other, heh.
Gemstone themed Writeblr asks
Emerald: Which of your characters is hardest to write?
I would say that I struggle more with characters that I write rarely, like Christabel and Periwinkle, both 7KPP OCs. Partly because I haven't written them as much, and so their backgrounds and their families aren't as well developed, and so that creates a kind of cycle. And partly because the narration of the game gives their backgrounds a very strong, very decided voice, which does not entirely agree with my vision of them. Christabel especially was written a little against type.
Fanfic Ask Game (the movie, the sequel)
👀 Do you have any WIPs that you would never let see the light of day? If yes, what are they about?
Yikes. Well. Hmm.
I have daydreams about alternate universes for some of my OCs, ones that I don't intend to put to paper. And I have a folder of unfinished stories that won't ever reach posting status, like D&F stories that I wrote to flesh out certain background details, but which don't themselves make for very good reading.
I also have a little self-indulgent fic for someone else's work in progress, lol. But It doesn't really agree with what would eventually be "canon", and I don't think anyone would enjoy reading it but me. I do enjoy it a lot, though.

17 and 22 for the weird questions? (Also, I hope you’re having a lovely Sunday)
I'm having a meh sunday, but after all the town painting I did yesterday, what did I expect. (and by town painting I mean cleaning my room)
17. Talk to me about the minutiae of your current WIP. Tell me about the lore, the history, the detail, the things that won’t make it in the text.
what even is my current wip. I have no idea.
summon story takes place in an as yet unnamed province of a greater empire that doesn't care of this particular province and that's why Sinderport has basically it's own little government going on and follows its own laws. a cute little gang city state. not cute. very crime. crime is kind of legal. so not crime. there's also illegal crime. so crime.
it's made out of limestone and the limestone comes from quarries to the northwest. the gang - worker's union - is called the salt tips because the water in the quarry bleaches their skin. the science reason is never mentioned. bleached fingers are just a great way to tell that someone works in the limestone quarries.
there's this place to the east of Sinderport called the Field of Teeth. the name is never explain in full detail. a long time ago, a whole bunch of summoners were trying to possess a bunch of bearcats to both cause mayhem and also to stop the bearcats from killing the elk population and this backfired spectacularly. one of the summoners invoked their family contract with an abir and the abir had zero patience for mass spirit farming like this, and it took over control of the spirits by invoking the contract right back, and all the summoners got killed by the bearcats and everybody was like let's never do this again. we'll call this place a scary name and then people won't do mass spirit farming again. right?
of course not, but humans are stupid.
Wryn has dark blue skin because he's ethnically? from farther south where people have dark blue skin. it's never mentioned. some people are from the south and look like that. whatever.
22. How organized are you with your writing? Describe to me your organization method, if it exists. What tools do you use? Notebooks? Binders? Apps? The Cloud?
I have scrivener. it saves my bacon. and besides that my brain is just a good brain - well, writing wise anyway - and can retain much information about worlds and plots and characters and stuffs. also I tag my posts here correctly so I can find them again later and reference them if I need to. tumblr is a little broken on this front but I make it work. I do sometimes make notes in paper form in my writing journal when that's what I have with me.
and I keep a lot of stuff in my phone. some of my notes are called:
tags taglists writeblr poetry prompts longform prompts
thanks for asking, Welcome!
