When Felix first saw her in the town, he couldn't tell if his heart sank or lifted. An immediate and unspoken understanding followed next between them. The world they both previously occupied was so ingrained within them that it was seamless for Sera and Felix to only talk in passing. To never utter a word to one another, other than the same mundane conversations they had with others. But the constant need for answers gnawed at him. A worry that Seraphina was turned, just as he was. But even questions beyond the Supernatural burned in his brain. Where did she go?

It was late enough for the armory to be closed, but Felix saw her name on the shift lists for the after hours shift. It wasn't a surprise to see a completely different one than what he knew her as. Seraphina Sinclair, a powerful name and presence now nothing but a Sera Stone. He assumed she did it for safety since the war, a precaution that her family's name and work wouldn't be uncovered. His knuckles rapped against the doors in a steady beat, Felix leaned lazily against the frame when it was opened. A look of expectancy and hesitance in his eyes. "Can I still call you Seraphina or...?" it was the first acknowledgement they could have for months. "I know sweetheart is out of the equation now." and it had been for a long time, considering her swift and sudden disappearance where her family simply told him she was in rehab. His bad influences caught up with her, and she had solid evidence he cheated. Which... "I was fucking deployed, Seraphina. Who do you think I fucked? My colonel?"

Well, it was certainly not his Persephone who opened the door but a rather grumpy guy instead, reeking of alcohol, which made Hades frown. The opportunity to hold the door open was quite clear, though, and he used it, while finally taking a look inside. He blinked. Oh, wait— it was not a house, he realized, but it seemed to be something else. Well, humans did have a strange way of naming things, he hadn’t realized that “the cottage” he had been pointed out was actually the name of a... restaurant? bar? He stepped in anyway. Just to be surprised by someone behind the counter. “Doll?” he turned his face. It took him a good moment for the pieces of the puzzle to click and he finally recognized the other.... Persephone? That was... different. Even for his adventurous, playful Persephone, this was still different. But he could feel it, it was her in there. What was she doing in a place like this? And in those clothes? He frowned.  “Water?” it was the first thing that came to his mind before he sat on a tool by the counter. “You... have we seen each other before?” he ventured to ask, leaning on the counter. Did she remember anything?

Sometimes you just have one of those moments where the progress we've made as a culture get thrown into stark relief. You look at something and go "Holy shit, that would never have happened when I was a kid."

Today, I had one of those moments when I realized that the teenage boys I'm working with are just. genuinely, openly enthusiastic about going to Build-a-Bear for their outing.

These are sixteen and seventeen year old boys! They just had a whole conversation about what to name their "cute", mostly new squishmallows! They're genuinely excited that they're going to Build-a-Bear this weekend and asking other kids to pick up specific accessories for them!!

Holy shit, that never would've happened when I was 16. None of the boys would have dared to be visibly interested - and neither would most of the girls! There would have been a million gay jokes and "Haha, you're a girl" jokes and "What are you, a baby?" jokes. Teenagers weren't even supposed to care about anything back then!

Less than 15 years later, and I'm watching three 17 year old boys treat all that as not even worthy of comment.

So let's call that a reason for hope. Even when the kids aren't alright, in some ways apparently they are alright. Go Gen Z, honestly. It's so lovely to watch you guys just openly doing and saying stuff that, when I was a teen, would've been a social death sentence.

Grown Apart AU - Musical Style ✨

What is This Feeling from Wicked pretty perfectly encapsulates GA Donnie and Leo's first impressions of each other, so the musical nerd within me couldn't resist doing this (lol).

Context within the plot: After saving Mikey's life (by total coincidence), Donnie manages to infiltrate the Hamato residence as a spy, planning to capture the oozesquitos and hand them over to Big Mama, thus gaining her favor. Leo, however, sees through his act easily and has been keeping an eye on him since he arrived. Due to circumstances outside of their control - i.e. Splinter's decision - the two of them are forced to share a room with each other, which neither party is particularly thrilled about.

I just found out that, apparently, Grown Apart has made into the @tmntaucompetition preliminaries!!!! ASDFGHJKJH;!! Thank you to anyone who sent in a nomination! I guess we can officially call this "propaganda" now, so look forward to seeing much more in the very near future!
