After plenty of denial and a bit of research, I can confidently say that I’m addicted to tumblr. And it’s ruining my life.

Excuse the dramatic phrasing, but like…it really is messing with my dopamine levels and keeping me from pursuing other things. So many of my hobbies have all but faded away because social media just keeps promising more yet provides no true satisfaction. And I’m having the same issue with discord too. Constantly checking, refreshing, hoping to find something worthwhile or wishing that somebody would message me to cure my loneliness. It leaves me feeling frustrated, disappointed, and overall upset. Not to mention the extra weight it adds onto my existing depression and lack of motivation.

It’s just not worth it anymore. I want to enjoy reading books again, writing stories again, growing in faith again, healing again. I feel so stuck right now, and I want to get out.

So just be aware that I’m going to be cutting my time on social media significantly, at least until I can get a better handle on things. Not that this really affects anyone or I expect people to care, but I needed to make a statement to help hold myself accountable. I’d also appreciate prayer during this time so that I might return the throne of my life to its rightful owner, since I’ve been sitting on the throne for far too long.

The world exists in such a baffling state of simultaneous sex-aversion and sex-hegemony. Every social platform on the internet is trying to banish sex workers to the shadow realm but I can't post a tweet without at least two bots replying P U S S Y I N B I O. People are self-censoring sex to seggs and $3× but every other ad you see is still filled with half-naked women. Rightwingers want queer people arrested for so much as existing in the same postal code as a child and are also drumming up a moral panic about how teenage boys aren't getting laid enough. I feel like I'm losing my mind.

i don't think people really understand what's happening in gaza. with each passing day that sees more and more palestinians dead, it's becoming easier and easier for those in the west to perceive them as nothing more than a statistic. they might engage w the occasional palestine post, sure, but it's just as easy to scroll right past that moments later w no real outrage for the genocide retained.

it's vital to stay reminded that palestinians who are with us today won't be with us tomorrow. it's happening every second of every minute of every hour, and it's relentless. somewhere in gaza a little girl is losing her mother, a little boy is watching his siblings bleed to death, elderly people are infirm with starvation and illness, palestinian women and girls are being sexually assaulted and kept in cages, fathers are leaving tents to find food for their families and not coming back. this is all happening right now, and it's a direct result of the west's complacency. it's a direct result of their not seeing arabs as people worth saving.

it might be hard to compute as a westerner, but this is real. don't let your privilege blind you to your humanity.

MY OLDEST sister has plans to hang out with friends, go grocery shopping and then hangout at one of their houses and watch the one dungeons & dragns movie, maybe even swimming and invited me, should i go? we'd be leaving at 6 and it's currently 5:27 🥴 i'm feeling kind of not social and i know if i go i won't be able to scurry away like the little rat i am to my room to recharge........... but i also know i'll probably regret it and mayb there'd be really tasty food there........
