There’s nothing that Mickey hates more than being sick. The stuffy nose, scratchy throat, and sore, achy muscles. God, he’s miserable. There’s not much he can do but sit under a blanket, watching the stupid cooking channel and wait for his cold meds to kick in.
But then, of course, his sweet husband gets home from work, kissing his forehead as he sets down a bag of takeout.
“Picked up some chicken noodle soup from the diner down the street. Debbie swears by it,” he says sweetly with a smile. “Says it always makes Franny feel better when she’s sick.”

Do you have any Debbie + Ian headcanons? Pre-canon or otherwise
eek!! yes i have many… and a lot of them are pre-canon because i’m a sucker for pre-canon
i’ve written about this before (and never published it lol), but i could see one of ian’s first memories being around debbie’s birth or her actual birth. frank said something about most of his kids being born in the gallagher house, and i believe debbie was born on the same table she gave birth to franny on. ian was really excited to be a brother because of lip’s influence, and when he held debbie for the first time, he kept calling her “my baby” and getting defensive when anyone tried to take her away (which was reasonable considering he was only four and couldn’t really hold her properly without help). when they got older, maybe five and nine, they would play together with the barbie lip took from the 99¢ store and ian’s g.i. joe, debbie was very bossy and kept interjecting whenever ian tried to do anything because she had a specific plan.
whenever frank would come home wasted or monica would be having another episode, ian would grab debbie (like he does in 2x08 and 11x07) and comfort her. he would convince himself that, yet again, he was following in lip’s footsteps and helping debbie, but a part of him knew he too wanted that comfort because he didn’t often get it.
debbie has painted ian’s nails… on several occasions. when they were kids and debbie would do it, ian would insist she picks a color that wouldn’t be noticeable and would pick it off his nails before school the next day. when ian got older and debbie would do it, he didn’t really care what she did and would keep it on (even if he ended up biting it off later). maybe as an emt sue would tease him, but he’d just brush it off. franny ends up painting his, too.
around two, maybe more, times, debbie would come with ian to the milkovich house. ian would go over to study with mandy (and sneak into mickey’s room to “go to the bathroom”), and debbie would talk with mandy. she felt really cool doing this, and on the walk home debbie would excitedly tell ian about how awesome she thinks mandy is. this is around season two
while working at the kash and grab in the summer, debbie (and sometimes carl) would walk there from the public pool and debbie would convince ian to give her money for some candy or a drink. ian always intended on doing so, but he would pretend to put up a fight to irritate her.
anytime ian (or any of her siblings) was sick or hurt and needed to stay in bed, debbie would sneak into his room and talk to him like he has terminal cancer and weeks to live. ian always found it sweet, even if he would playfully roll his eyes and tell her to get out.
when debbie was pregnant, she would send ian photos of her baby bump. she wouldn’t often get more than a “❤️”, but she appreciated it considering she felt so alone, but always knew she’d have her brother.
because season ten confirmed debbie’s a stoner as an adult (twice, lol) i can imagine her smoking on the porch with ian like she did with sandy. he’d talk about mickey, she’d talk about franny, they’d laugh about their other siblings.
i can’t really think of anything else but if anyone’s seeing this and wants more headcanons i’ll happily post them, my blog’s kinda dead now (which is totally my own fault lol)

Who do you thinks gonna die first Ian or Mickey?And how do you think they'll die?
I honestly forgot about this ask.
Me personally think they shall never die, i like that idea best.
Nit it's kind of boring.

I think they die within a few days of each other, at most a couple weeks. I had a couple at work, the wife went first, but the husband knew she was going and he stopped eating and drinking and three weeks later he died too. It was sweet and romantic, they had been together for decades and were very devoted to one another.
I think Ian would go first, and Mickey would know he was going and he'd be by his side the entire way.
Is this because I love Mickey more that I want him to die last?
I can see Ian dying from a combination of old age and an infection of some kind, like a septic bladder infection or dementia. Dementia is terrible and I wouldn't wish that on Ian. Maybe he develops Parkinsons and it gets severe enough to instead of dementia?
NO WAIT
Ian is still active in his eighties, but is determined that he doesn't need to use a walker yet or a wheelchair, yes he'll use it when he needs to.
He goes on walks and such, and Mickey goes with him to keep his health good.
Ian starts getting wobblier with every step but argues about needing a mobility aide.
He falls at home, breaking his hip. Which wipes him the fuck out. He can't move on his own and the break slowly gets him, eventually he goes on hospice, Mickey joining by his side, heartbreak killing him more than anything knowing that Ian was dying.
He does more cares for Ian than the hospice nurse, giving him bed baths, feeding him, rotating him gently so he doesn't get bed sores. Ian is still alert enough to talk and laugh with Mickey, but that starts to dwindle slowly over the course of a few weeks Ian isn't really talking anymore, he smiles and such at Mickey but that's about it. Their kids try to convince Mickey to take Ian to a hospital or a nursing home so the nurses can be there 24/7 but Mickey refuses, "Let me take care of him until he's better."
"Dad, the doctor's say he won't get better, that this is the end, that we need to prepare ourselves..."
Mickey ignores their oldest, and turns back to Ian, who is sleeping.
"I told him I loved him, I love him, and that means good times, bad times, sickness health, all that shit, and that's what I'm doing. He's staying home, he's staying with me, but a home nurse is as far as we're going."
It's a peaceful death for Ian, he's been on routine morphine and ativan with the hospice nurse and it's peaceful, painfree, Mickey is gingerly holding him in his arms, unable to make himself eat or drink, only getting out of bed to use the bathroom and even that is quick because he doesn't want to be away from Ian.
Mickey holds him, looks at him, takes in the silver curls, the deep laugh lines, the wrinkles, the faded freckles, remembering the young goofball he fell in love with, the flaming curls, the alabaster freckly skin, and he murmurs to Ian how much he loves him, how much he's always loved him, always will. Presses a kiss to Ian's cheeks, his forehead, his shoulder.
Ian smiles gently, "Mickey," he sighs in his last breath and passes.
Mickey is inconsolable, doesn't eat, doesn't drink.
He doesn't want to leave Ian's side even though he's gone, but he finally does.
He passes a week later, the heartbreak cracking his soul.
He passes in the night, the kids are supposed to come in the morning, finish Ian's cremation and celebration of life, he hadn't been able to bear making the plans alone.
He fell asleep looking through albums, shoeboxes, piles of pictures of the two of them throughout their lives, remembering all the moments with his husband, his partner, his boyfriend, his lover, his friend.
He sees Ian in his dreams, like he has been since he passed, honestly since they met.
Ian's holding out his hand, it's every version of Ian he's ever known, flickering into one another until it's just Ian.
His freckly hand reaching for Mickey, Mickey grins reaching out his own hand, and grasps Ian's again, the warmth filling his soul.
When their kids come in the morning he's gone too.
They have a rager celebration of life for both of their dads, a true Gallagher-Milkovich party.
Relatives from all over Chicago come, aunts, uncles, cousins, their own kids.
They spread their ashes in the dugouts, at night, by starlight. The stars above them twinkling like the light that was always in their dads eyes. Especially when they looked at one another.

Episode 4.8 - Club Kiss
You’re drunk. Drunk on Ian’s kisses and sticky-sweet bourbon. Drunk on flashing lights and the hit of coke Ian offered you earlier. Drunk on the way Ian looks at you and how boldly he kisses you in a club full of people.
You’re so drunk and dizzy and distracted, by Ian’s lips and his hands and that look in his eyes, that when he stops kissing you and grabs your hand, pulls at you to move along with him, you go with it. You don’t think about anything except for his taste, his skin, his eyes, and you follow him wherever the fuck he plans on taking you.
Shit, you’d probably follow him to Hell, had he asked.
The music continues to thump, but it’s a far-off beat. People swarm around you, but your eyes are zeroed in on Ian. Ian’s hand stays in yours, and you grip it tight. You don’t want to know what would happen if you let go because you’re so fucking drunk and dizzy and distracted that nothing else in this place – in this goddamn world – makes sense except for Ian.
He leads you to an opening, an alcove tucked beneath dancers’ platforms and surrounded on three sides. It’s small, barely big enough for the two of you, but Ian doesn’t seem like he wants to take up a lot of space and you’re okay with that.
You’re okay, in that moment, with whatever he could possibly want from you.
Suck my dick. Whenever I want.
You feel sick. Terrified. Hopeful?
He kisses you again, and you’re drunker, dizzier, more distracted than ever. He kisses you and kisses you, just as thorough and deep as he had in the middle of the club, and it continues to surge something within you. An ache, a neediness. A desperation to have this, just this, all the time.
How much easier would life be if you could live like the other men out there?
He leans back, into the corner of the niche he’s found, and pulls you with him, pulls you until you straddle one of his legs, until your half-hard, denim-clad dick is flush against his bare thigh. You go – you’ll always go, you know that now – and he kisses you deeper, holds you tighter, adjusts his height.
Then he thrusts, and you can feel him. He’s hard in his tiny shorts, rocking into you, gripping your hips and tugging you towards him so that you do the same, and there are people less than two feet away from you, there are people right outside this miniscule square he’s found, there are people … and you couldn’t care less.
Because Ian’s hands are beneath your shirt and your hands are on his bare chest and he’s here and he’s still kissing you and you can feel the warmth of his thigh through your jeans and you’re not going to let him go. Not again.
You groan into his kiss, give into what he wants from you, what you want from him – not for the first time that night, and not for the last time in your life – and you grind yourself against him, move your hands up to his neck, and kiss him harder, lick at the roof of his mouth, bite at his lips until he’s the one who pulls away, breathing hard.
“Yeah, Mickey, fuck.”
His forehead against yours, his breath mingled with yours, his body melded with yours. You and Ian. It’s all you want. All you’ve wanted for longer than you’ve ever been able to admit.
He licks a wet path up your neck, bites at your jaw, moves against you. “Fuckin’ ride me, Mickey. Want you hard and aching. Want you to make a fuckin’ mess. Then I want you to blow me.”
“Christ, Ian.”
“Yeah?” His hands move from your back to your ass, pull you closer. His own hips rut lazily against you as you jerk into him. “Want that? Want to suck my dick?”
You nod. You pant. You let him in when he licks wetly into your mouth. He slips his hands inside your jeans and you continue to dry-hump his thigh like a fucking teenager, but your drunk and dizzy and distracted and nothing else matters. Nothing but Ian.
“So good,” he murmurs, spreading your ass cheeks, and you gasp, close. “Doing what I say … such a good boy.”
That smirk is back, you know it – smug and selfish and stupidly sexy – and it works for you. He’s pushing his luck and it fucking works for you. You’re close and he moves his leg in time with your thrusts. You’re close and he bites at your earlobe. You’re close and the tip of one finger breaches your hole.
You shudder.
You’re close and he whispers –
“Shit, I’ve missed you.”
– And you come.

This is a special set of (optional) prompts for the absolutely wonderful project that is - @odietamo-gallavichzine! That’s right, a Gallavich Fanzine! Please do check it out and get involved if you are able! ❤️
Interpret these however you like and feel free to use them as just a jumping off point, you don’t have to stick to the exact prompt!
Sometime in early s11, Ian suggests that he could help Mickey prepare for job interviews. So, Ian pretends to be an employer and Mickey tries to take his fake interview seriously.
A few months after they first hook up, Ian and Mickey get stuck on a broken down train for a few hours. Ian takes this opportunity to try and get to know Mickey more - Mickey meanwhile is annoyed but can’t help answering Ian’s constant questions, because fuck it, he’s bored.
Ian didn’t get to finish his speech when he proposed to Mickey. Later that night, after they get home, he recites the whole speech to Mickey.
Ian doesn’t know quite how he managed it but he has a summer job housesitting for a wealthy Northside couple. He gets a budget for food and all he has to do is hang out at this nice house. Of course, he immediately invites Mickey to sleepover.
After his first day on the security job, Ian mentions that he thought he did well, causing Mickey to give him an unasked for employee evaluation. Of course, Ian also gives Mickey an evaluation too.
Their first day as a married couple - it’s a weird adjustment for them both to know they’re actually married. Ian overuses the word ‘husband’ and Mickey thinks about whether or not either of them should change their names.
Ian thinks he’s sure of his decision to break up with Mickey. He reluctantly agrees to go with Svetlana to visit Mickey in prison. He doesn’t feel anything as he walks through the prison. But when he gets to see Mickey and when he sees the tattoo on his chest…something inside him breaks and he realises just how much he loves Mickey and that he will wait for him.
Sometime in the early seasons, Ian finds out that it’s Mickey’s birthday, he plans a small but sweet surprise for him. Mickey pretends not to care but secretly loves it.
Ian writes some special, personal vows for Mickey, which he reads to him the evening after their wedding at the motel. One year later, Mickey hasn’t forgotten what Ian did, so he surprises Ian with some of his own vows when they get home after their anniversary party.
Their thoughts immediately after their first kiss and then their thoughts immediately after their wedding kiss. (And maybe their second kiss and their prison reunion kiss could be included in there too?)
Ian and Mickey are training new employees for their security business. It means that for a whole week they are each working with another person, rather than each other. They didn’t realise how much they would miss being together all the time.
Ian invites Mickey to camp in the woods in a tent. He tells him it’s something to with practice for ROTC, but it’s really just an excuse for them to be alone.
Mickey’s not eavesdropping, he’s not. He’s definitely not secretly listening to Mandy and Ian talk just so he might hear Ian talk about his “secret boyfriend” and he definitely doesn’t get butterflies when he hears what Ian has to say. Definitely not.
It’s Mickey’s first weekend out of jail and Ian has plans - a date, as much time alone as possible in a full house, and maybe a surprise present or two. And sure, he had to rush some of these plans since Mickey surprised him by getting out of jail and sure, they are on parole so they have to be good. But it’s going to be a great weekend.
Terry and the rest of Mickey’s brothers are out of town, Mandy is with Lip, so it means that Mickey is all alone in the house. When he gets sick at work, Ian makes him go home, promising that he’ll explain to Linda. Ian could go home, but somehow he finds himself at the Milkovich house, trying to take care of a very sick Mickey. This is exactly the kind of thing that Mickey would never agree to usually but he feels like shit and he doesn’t have the energy to tell Ian to fuck off.
Ian and Mickey know it’s probably not a good idea to get high before a Gallagher family dinner. But they can’t resist the new samples they’ve been given from one of the dispensaries. So now they’re at dinner and they can’t stop being silly and flirting with each other and maybe oversharing way too much.

Back at ya with another franny and her favorite uncles fic. Inspired by this prompt by @ianandmickeygallavich. I honestly don't know where I was going with this but hope ya like it <33.
Soulmates...to me
"Uncle Ian, look at what I found."
They are babysitting Franny, again, not that it's a bad thing, in fact, Ian's not even complaining, he loves Franny, spending time with her, and he especially loves his niece and his husband bonding together. Franny definitely has a liking towards him, but not as much as she has for Ian though. Obviously.
"What'd you find, Fran?" he asks from the couch, where he's sitting with his husband – talking about their pick up's and renovating the ambulance.
"I found this magazine from mommy's old stuff," she says with a giant smile on her face. "And guess what it has a soulmate quiz." She shrieks excitedly, frantically waving the magazine – that looked like it had been through hell with torn pages, stains, and whatnot – in front of Ian's face.
"Mommy said your soulmate is the person you're meant to be with, you'll love them with all your heart, and they'll love you with all their heart too." She explained with her unfeigned innocence. "You and Uncle Mickey should take it – to see if your both soulmates"
Immediately, Mickey's head turns towards Ian, who he finds is already looking at him.
"What do you think?" the look says, "Wanna give it a go?"
"Why not" Mickey silently replies back with a shrug.
"Alright, lil red, we'll give it a go." Mickey now says loudly.
Franny hands the magazine to Ian, to read it out aloud since she can't read the big words yet.
"Okay" Ian drags out, "Let's do this shall we"
"First question, do you guys support each other's dreams?" Ian reads out, "I think so…yeah. What about you, mick."
"Oh yes for sure, remember that one dream you had about me being tied-"
"Mickey!" Ian loudly interrupts. "Not in front of Franny." Ian whispers through gritted teeth.
"Not what in front of me Uncle Ian? Did u have a dream about Uncle Mickey in a tie?" she says, as awkward as those questions are, the way she asks seems so endearing, Ian can't seem to lie to her. Somehow.
"Uhh…Y-yes I had a dream of Uncle Mickey in a tie." He stammers. Well, he's not wrong exactly.
"Anyways yes. I am definitely supportive of his dreams" Mickey continues, winking at Ian – who's currently giving him an unimpressed look.
"Okay read out the next question Uncle Ian" Franny says with excitement, jumping up and down on the armchair in front of them.
Ian gives Mickey a side-eye before he continues.
"What three things do you like about each other – actually why don't you go first, Mickey."
"Alright, well I can't say 2 out of 3 of the things I want to say because of you-know-who," Mickey says with a smirk on his face, his eyes wandering down from Ian's face towards his lap. Ian catches on immediately and rolls his eyes.
"So, I guess it's his looks, personality, and umm…our 'exercises' together." winking again at Ian.
Exercises? Ian thinks, whenever Ian calls him for a morning run or yoga, he always whines about how much he hates it. He thinks again on what he could possibly mean by exercises together – Ohhh. Those ones. The ones that they'll both (hopefully) never get tired of. While Ian was expecting and maybe wanted an answer of something sweeter, he guesses he can live with this, instead.
"Your turn Ian." Mickey says.
"Uh okay, I love our 'exercises' too mick, I love how you take care of me when I'm low and I love your looks as well", giving a beaming smile towards Mickey.
Okay now Mickey sort of thinks he should have given something better than what he said, but it's alright though, Ian already knows.
While Ian and Mickey are over there giving each other sly glances, Franny's sitting there with a confused look, wondering why her uncles' love would to exercise so much, were the fitness freaks? With them still staring at each other, Franny decides to break it apart before things get not child-friendly.
"Uncle Ian, read the other questions" she pleads with a cough, trying to divert their attention towards the long-forgotten magazine.
"Ah yes," Ian mumbles. "What's a secret you haven't told the other person yet?"
Immediately Mickey leans towards Ian and whispers something incoherent, for Franny to hear, to Ian's ear, resulting in Ian's eyes going wide and his cheeks and ears slowly turning the same shade as his hair.
Ian stands up quickly.
"Uhh…F-Franny, can we do this later, please? I just remembered Uncle Mickey and I need to go…exercise, like right now." Ian says abruptly, holding Mickey's hand in his, walking towards the stairs.
"No!" she yells out. "Please Uncle Ian, you guys told me you'd do it, you can exercise later if you want, please" she whines, tugging on both of their t-shirts.
Both Ian and Mickey look towards her bright eyes and the cute little pout that she's wearing.
"I guess our exercise can wait, right Ian?"
"Yeah, it can wait.", looking down at Franny, giving her a smile and ruffling her hair.
"Yay!"
They all go back to sit down at the couch, resuming the unfinished quiz. Quickly, Franny remembers something to tell her uncles.
"Oh yeah and one more thing Uncle Mickey, can you please do this seriously 'cause I really wanna see if you are really soulmates."
"Yeah, Mick, I'm with Franny on this one"
"Fine, sure thing kid" Mickey says, then looks towards Ian "Not even a little bit of teasing, though", with a pout on his face.
"Nope" Ian says with a pop, "not even a little"
They answer all the questions again, this time doing it properly. Finally, they reach the near end of the quiz.
"Did you say I love you to each other yet? If so, who said it first?" Ian says as he reads the last question.
"Oooh, I wanna know this one" Franny says cheerfully.
"Well yes, we already did say I love you to each other, and uh I'm actually not sure who said it first, to be honest." Ian says, then looking at Mickey – who's slowly turning red.
"What, you have something to say, Mick?" Ian prompts.
"I uhh… I actually said it first, don't know if you know but uh it was when you were…sick. I was calling you, trying to see where you were, but you didn't pick up, so it went to voicemail, and that's when I said I love, for the first time and you didn't hear it." Mickey said, looking at the interesting pattern on the pillow instead of Ian's face.
Franny was watching the whole thing, she saw Mickey's flush, that was spreading across his face to his ears, and Ian's eyes going wide, mouth opening then closing, trying to form a sentence.
"You" a pause. "You said you loved me then, how'd you know?"
With that Mickey finally turns his head to Ian, however his eyes not meeting Ian's.
"I don't know, I just knew I loved you, man" Mickey lets out with a sigh.
Ian instantly hugs him. "I love you, mickey" he whispers so faintly that only mickey hears it.
Franny might not understand the context behind it, but she understands the feeling, the warmth, the love, it's the same feeling she gets when her mom kisses her before going to bed, the same feeling she feels when sandy hugs her.
She also doesn't want to be left out, so she goes and hugs her uncles as well, earning a chuckle from both of them.
After all the sappiness – as mickey called it, they check the results of the sweet but awfully long quiz.
"That's bullshit" Mickey yells in frustration. "Not soulmates. Not soulmates, they better be fuckin' messing with us. Are you sure you did it right, Ian?" he says, pacing up and down the living room.
"Mickey, language" Ian retorts "And calm down it's a stupid, girly, pre-teen quiz, it doesn't even mean anything."
"Yeah, but how could they say that, what the f- hell do they know?"
Mickey then feels a tug at his t-shirt, then sees Franny looking at him with glassy eyes.
"I'm sorry Uncle Mickey, I didn't know it would end like this" Franny says with tears running down the side of her cheeks and words coming out rushed.'
"Hey, no, no, it wasn't your fault Franny, it was the stupid dumb magazine" Mickey says, trying to reassure her.
"Really? But I made you guys take the test."
"It doesn't matter what the test says, Fran, all that matters is that we love each other. And it definitely isn't your fault okay?" Ian says kneeling down, wrapping a hand around her back, comforting her.
"Okay" she says quietly.
"C'mon, let's go get some ice cream."
"Okay" her frown quickly turning into a bright smile.
As they head inside the house, with ice cream in their hands, Franny melts her uncles' heart by just saying one sentence.
"You're soulmates to me, Uncle Mickey" she says in between licking the sprinkles off her ice cream, then hugs them both and runs off to her room, leaving the two men shock.
"We're soulmates, Ian" Mickey croaks out, after minutes of just standing there, the ice cream dripping down on his hands.
"Huh, we are." He says with a laugh.

Thoughts on 11x06
I had to come back to type this after the episode. I was gonna wait to post until more people are active but everyone’s safety is more important than notes. This was really hard for me to watch. It took me two hours because I kept needing a break. It’s a tough one yall. It’s heartbreaking and really brought out issues I didn’t know I was still dealing with until I reacted so badly to some stuff. Take care of yourselves and I’m here if you need to talk. That took me nearly two hours to watch. Yeah I usually pause to type but I had to take long breaks after the hard scenes. It was a really hard episode to watch. A lot darker than it has been. I’m not really okay right now. It was emotional but a really good episode overall.

I wish you would write a fic where...Ian takes care of Mickey when he’s sick. I LOVED Mickey taking care of Ian and making Fiona’s soup, so I would love read a story when Mickey gets sick. I’m really looking forward to whatever else you write though, you have a lovely style of writing and I would love to see what other stories you’d like to explore.
Oooh, this is very interesting. A companion piece perhaps, and the elusive Ian POV fic i have yet to write also, hmm 🤔
I feel like we want to do something where Ian gets to use his medical training, right? A few weeks ago someone was talking about how we've never seen Mickey drink any water, so I'm thinking about a 4th of July party, long hours in the hot sun, shooting water guns at Franny and Liam, drinking beers all afternoon and refusing any attempts from Ian to get him to drink 'at least some lemonade or something Mick, Jesus.'
When they get back to the apartment, a little drunk, a little giddy, they stumble together to the couch and fall down in a mess of sweaty limbs and labored breaths.
"Hmm." It's so nice and cool in the apartment, and Ian wraps his arms around his husband as Mickey wiggles them around until he is laying flat on top of Ian, hot mouth huffing against his collarbone, relishing the contrast between cold couch beneath him and flushed skin above and around him.
"Hmm?" Mickey is his echo, threading their legs together and lipping gently at the skin of his throat.
Mickey is comfort. Mickey is safety. He is home and hearth and bread and salt. But he is also exhilaration. He is desire. He is the burning flame at the heart of living and it makes Ian breathless to think that he gets to have him. To keep him.
There is honey running through his veins, so sweet is this feeling, so thick. Ian could drown in it and die happily, fingers curling soft against the skin of Mickey's back.
"Was a good day." He breathes, stroking his thumb across a sensitive spot on Mickey's shoulder blade, grinning wide at the resulting shiver.
"Hmm. It's about to get better." God he loves the feeling of that smile against his skin. Can't get enough of it, wants to bottle it.
"Oh yeah, you got plans?"
"Got a date with your dick, hot stuff, guess you can come along too if you want."
"Sure Mick, I'd love to come." Ian laughs, and delights in the resulting huff from Mickey. Can you say you're elated if you feel that way always?
"Bet you would. Bet you wanna come all over-"
Mickey cuts off abruptly and Ian pauses his hands where they had been working their way down the back of mickey's shorts. The face that was buried in his neck shoots up with a frown, looking down at Ian with concern.
"What is it?"
And maybe Mickey's about to say 'I don't feel good.' or that he's got to get up or that he's not even sure what's wrong. But Ian will never know, because one minute he's staring up into the unhappy face of his husband, and the next he's covered in vomit.

11x04: NIMBY Reactions
Oh my God, that’s the good stuff right there. I’ve been hanging on for the middle of the season, where I have felt pretty certain the tone -- with Gallavich particularly -- might shift and I was NOT disappointed. 
So first thing’s first: though Mickey had barely anything to do with the A Plot (Milkoviches Next Door) I still thought this episode was the best  Mickey-being-Mickey-as-I-know-and-love-him  episode we’ve had yet. (Though fair warning, I thought 11x03 had some quality classic Mickey in it -- just mostly the scenes without Ian.) 
Before we get started on Mickey, though, this is the second episode in a row where I’ve enjoyed the Frank plot? Granted, it was LARGELY Liam that I enjoyed, but I was still watching the Frank plot and that is a major shift from season 10, where I barely bothered. 
But yeah. Ok. Mickey. This episode was such a great Mickey episode from start to finish. One of the things I love about Shameless is the whole thing where normal for kids living in desperate conditions, while very different from most people’s normal, is still normal for THEM. And I really enjoyed Mickey watching the Milkoviches move in while giving the Gallaghers key intel on exactly what they were seeing. And kinda understanding how messed up some of it was in real time. That’s a real experience people have -- being mid-story and suddenly thinking “Yeah. This is way more fucked up than I realized.”  
I also enjoyed the several moments in the episode where Mickey overtly acknowledged that his family is insane, he just doesn’t like the Gallaghers looking down on him. Which: valid. 
Speaking of -- finally we find out the state of the Mickey-Terry relationship. Which is: there isn’t one. Another thing I loved is that Mickey shares the desire to see his family move on, but he’s not going to bother engaging with it. He’s going to work on getting him and Ian out of there, and pay hardly any attention to his family. Love that for him. 
I also love love LOVE that, now that he has a bead on something to do for money that doesn’t fill him with dread, Mickey is taking the same attitude he had when Ian was working and he wasn’t -- which is that he’s going to take care of things. As someone who was baffled at Mickey’s inaction and willingness to let Ian do all the work in the first few episodes, I really loved this. Because it’s consistent and it indicates that his world view just kinda like... Someone has to be taking care of the money part, and that might shift back and forth between him and Ian, but the result of the effort is going to be shared between them. I understand where Ian was coming from -- especially when Mickey kept returning to criminal enterprise -- but it’s nice to see a little more of how Mickey views things. 
Also, I know this is very well observed, so I’m retreading well-worn ground, but the scene with the cereal. Gah. I love it. Ian regressing -- I know they gave us the shot of the bottle of Jamison, but I felt like they were getting their point across with the cereal and the cartoons. And Ian not answering or responding to Mickey right away was extremely evocative of Ian’s history of depressive episodes. I loved how forthright Ian was about how awful the prospect of finding another job was, because it’s covertly agreeing with everything Mickey was saying in the first few episodes, too. 
There are so many little things I like about this scene. Mickey coming down the front stairs instead of the back, like he intuitively knows where Ian is at. Ian watching Harley Quinn cartoons, as both an in-joke AND as a believable cartoon choice. Mickey picking up the bottle, checking it’s weight and then just... moving it a little to the side. Mickey putting himself between Ian the TV. Mickey already having a plan for Ian. Just so much good stuff in there. 
Also, let’s talk about Ian for a minute here. One reason I hesitate to call anything OOC with these two is that the book generally isn’t closed. I really didn’t get the “I’m on my honeymoon” stuff, but after this episode, it folds in a lot better with what is going on with these two. Another thing that folds in better is Ian’s mounting frustration -- which is VERY Ian. He starts out with this forced buoyancy -- we’re going to get out own place, you are going to get a legal job so you can stay out of prison, I am going to make this warehouse gig work, and even though I’m frustrated and losing patience, I’m still trying to talk things out, and touching your hand and trying to ground everything in the fact that we’re together and we love each other -- and then we see that get chipped away at. Ian’s paycheque reveals that he’s being scammed out of a living wage. Mickey takes the road less travelled and immediately brings in more money that he’s every going to be able to get through the jobs he can currently get as a parolee. Mickey isn’t gracious about this, and the tension ramps up and that four episodes later he’s just walking around with a well-established and throughly justified black cloud over his head. 
The Milkovich’s really arrive like they’ve bought a White Trash in a Bag collection from Target. They seem to even have brought mattresses expressly for the front yard. 
OMG, Mickey got a scene with Sandy (and Debbie). But honestly, my favourite beat is the look Franny gives Mickey after he says kids are idiots. I also love how Sandy joins Mickey in just not seeing a point in waging battle against their family.
Lip, this is a little thing, but you aren’t supposed to eat breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. Brunch ideally REDUCES the number of meals you eat. But the key brunch move is to order something you can’t/wouldn’t make at home. Do not pay $14 for eggs and toast. 
So. Ok. I have seen some people very annoyed that Ian is so focused on Mickey not going back to prison, but I can’t see what is wrong with this. He just flat out isn't wrong to worry about it. It would be devastating if that happened. Mickey and Ian are extremely fortunate that he’s out at all. It’s a truly bizarre turn of events and I do not fault Ian for having a lot of concern about anything happening to jeopardize Mickey’s freedom. I also think this is confirmation that Ian just flat out doesn’t want to be without Mickey. I think he’s depressed -- and therefore extremely pessimistic -- in this episode, but there is far more indication that Ian wants Mickey around than that he doesn’t, so of course he’d be extremely focused on this concern. Also Cam puts some tremor onto “get sent back to prison” that really grabs my heart and squeezes. 
Cam in the towel is just good news. Mickey’s adorable with the gun. This scene is cute. 
This is the episode where I gave up on side-eying the Gemma-is-Superior running joke and just accepted it as kinda funny. Something about third-party confirmation. I dunno.
I enjoy the fact that Debbie apparently doesn’t know Sandy lives with them? Also, that feels like an Ian move. Gets boyfriend, moves in with boyfriend. 
The fact that Mickey is low-key playing Ian to get him to join him in this MUCH more promising venture is my absolute favourite. Bless the director for that foreground Mickey shot. Bless Noel for that nuanced facial expression. Bless everyone involved in that moment. It is one of my favourite things ever. 
I love that Ian’s whole reason for these outfits is so that Mickey will LOOK dangerous and not have to defend himself, thus staying out of trouble. That’s deeply, deeply sweet. 
Another sign that something is even more wrong with Frank than usual when he fully forgets the entire trip to visit the Brotherhood. 
I didn’t love V vs. Debbie but I really did enjoy Kev aligns with Frank, and also has a scene with Mickey. And that they weren’t silo’ed off on their own. 
So the eventual reveal we get that the old lady loves having rough sex with Terry was not a surprise to me because a) Shameless, but b) because of Christian’s face. Christian’s facial expressions are among my favourite on the show right now.

Mickey should be a better liar, but you know. He isn’t. 
I do like that, in this moment, the things they both bring to the enterprise come together to create a new possibility. This is pretty much exactly what I HOPED was going to happen and I love to see it. 
I think I’m going to ignore the Tami storyline because it was gross (not bad, but ... gross.) Also @fiona-fififi already wrote something that is much more comprehensive... I get the frustration, but just no part of me thinks Ian would allow himself to go where Tami did in examining what happened to her. Not at this point in his life. Which is sad, but very much in line with how Ian handles himself. 
Um. Yeah. Carl. Glad you’re not fully participating, Carl. But this is untenable. 
Overall, I am all the way in on this storyline for Ian and Mickey -- and pretty into the idea of V getting involved with politics. I think we’re getting all the seeds of where this show is going to leave the characters. And I haven’t loved every moment, but I do feel like the overall show is working for me better than last season. 
That might be faint praise. But I really liked this one. Best yet.

The thing is, Ian was right. Mickey doesn't know any better, the writers on the show made sure of that, because for them the only important thing about Mickey is his devotion to Ian. But we're a bit more realistic about it and can analyze Ian's actions without being limited by someone's poor imagination.
There’s a lot to address here, so please forgive me for the lengthy response, anon! 🙂 I’ll preface all of it by saying this: my general opinion is that if Mickey has what makes him happy, we should support that regardless of how we feel about the other party (with obvious exceptions like physical abuse, etc.). If Byron was what made him happy, I would support him even if I couldn’t stand the guy. The same goes for any other character in any other franchise, at least for me. Now, onto your points:
I’m not sure which scene you mean when you mention Ian saying he doesn’t know any better, but I’m definitely with you on our ability to analyze Ian’s actions. The problem here is that analyzing will always be colored by perspective and implicit bias. If your fave is Mickey, anything that hurts him will look a whole lot worse than what he does that hurts Ian and perhaps lead to conducting a less than thorough analysis or rejecting sensible arguments about Ian’s character. Based on the number of posts I see about how Mickey is the only good thing on the show, I’d argue that that is a very real danger in many of the takes on Ian as well as everyone else. I’ve seen some pretty heavy demonizing of characters who hurt Mickey’s feelings or aren’t actively sweet to him, which is a bit unrealistic since that’s life and Mickey certainly never seems to mind or let it keep him down for long.
As far as him not knowing better, on the whole, I don’t think that gives Mickey much credit at all. Actually, it doesn’t really give him any credit, which is sort of surprising given how vehemently people defend his IQ, academically and emotionally, against what amounted to a joke. Mickey knows that Ian messes up and does things that are questionable at best and hurtful at worst. He’s not an innocent, pure character who endures heartache after heartache to throw himself at the brick wall of earning Ian’s attention. He gives as good as he gets and has hurt Ian too. They’re human and written very realistically in that regard. Their love for one another allows them to forgive transgressions and move on, not hold grudges or “not know any better” with regards to what they deserve. Love isn’t about what we deserve, and I think it’s important to remember that a relationship won’t last if it’s based on an arbitrary numerical score of who has done more harm than the other. Things happen. Poor decisions are made. They can allow that to break them or work through it. Mickey has actively chosen to work through it because at the end of the day, he loves Ian more than he is interested in finding something else. In earlier seasons, Ian similarly chose to work through it with someone who might never be in a position to come out and begin the full relationship that he so desperately wanted. That’s beautiful to me, not contemptible.
As far as the only important thing about Mickey being his devotion to Ian, we’ll also have to agree to disagree. 🙂 In the early seasons, while Ian was certainly the catalyst for it, Mickey’s story was about coming out more than his devotion to Ian. That’s why we have the scenes where he taunted Kash (focus: keeping his secret), purposely got sent back to juvie (focus: hiding from Terry if he found out), and got married (focus: self-preservation). We do absolutely see a rising devotion for Ian during this period, of course, and there’s no argument that his character was written expressly to be Ian’s love interest. The writers still made him a well-developed one with his own motives, fears, and desires outside of Ian in a way that later love interests didn’t get. (My own belief is that they didn’t intend for the later relationships to last like they did Mickey, but regardless of the validity there, Mickey was written as a character with more depth from the very beginning and existed before anything with Ian ever happened.)
The first half of s4 shows Mickey on his own merits. He’s handling his new position as a patriarch of the family, running the business while Terry is fairly hands-off and watches. He decides to help the Russian girls and ends up going into business with Kev. We learn a lot about Mickey’s character outside of Ian during that time. In fact, there are only a couple of scenes that really focus on him missing Ian until finding him becomes Mickey’s task: asking Kev if anyone has heard from him, the bathroom scene, and the later Alibi scene. Otherwise, the early s4 writers showed us a Mickey who was compassionate, ambitious, utilitarian, entrepreneurial, and collaborative—all without tying it back to Ian. Kev and V are renowned friends of the Gallaghers, but Mickey doesn’t grow closer to Kev in an attempt to learn more about what happened to Ian. He doesn’t help the girls because he thinks Ian would want him to. In fact, with the exception of those scenes I mentioned, we have no reason to believe that Ian is on Mickey’s mind at all while he’s doing these other things. He has a life outside of Ian just like the opposite is true, and s4 went to great lengths to show us that.
The second half of s4 is, once again, about keeping his secret until he decides to come out. (Read: decides to, is not forced to. More on that in a moment.) Yes, his devotion to Ian is once again the catalyst for some of his decisions, but there’s much more to it than that. Once again, we still see scenes with Mickey operating on his own for his own purposes. He doesn’t leave home entirely because he wants to be with Ian—he also wants to escape from his wife and pretend that things are the way they used to be. He doesn’t scam money from the rich guy or take more than his cut from the register at the Alibi to protect Ian—he does it for self-preservation so that Svetlana won’t get him killed. He doesn’t go to the baptism to keep up appearances and protect Ian—he does it to keep up appearances for himself and because...well, like it or not, that’s his son. The lattermost is something Ian specifically does not want him to do, and if he does, he wants to be there. Mickey goes against his wishes because it’s about protecting himself (and perhaps, by extension, their relationship), and rightfully so. Coming out at the Alibi does once again tie to Ian as a catalyst for change in Mickey’s life, but it didn’t have to happen. Mickey could have grabbed his coat, told everyone goodnight, and left with Ian. At no time did Ian tell him that he would leave if Mickey didn’t come out to everyone or admit they’re a couple, even if he did make reference to the fact that Mickey was hiding and not free. All Ian wanted was for Mickey not to treat him like a mistress or expect him to stick around if he did. Instead, it was a logical culmination of Mickey’s written development to come out. He’s stronger and more independent than he used to be. He’s capable of taking care of himself and surviving in the world without relying on Terry. He’s in a position where yes, he’s still justifiably terrified of coming out and what it’ll mean where Terry is concerned, but he’s able to do it. Ian is a catalyst for it, but being devoted to him isn’t Mickey’s only reason.
In s5, a lot of Mickey’s story does revolve around his devotion to Ian, but not any more than Ian’s revolves around devotion to him in the second half of s3. We still see Mickey doing business and running the family, but having Ian be his more central concern makes sense because Ian is sick and the writers have already told us that his health is a ticking time bomb waiting to explode. In denial or not, Mickey knows this. And so we see his story center around Ian because, to an extent, it has to. Ian is mentally and physically sick. He’s adjusting not only to meds, but to a label that makes him feel ashamed and afraid. Mickey is devoted to him, and so Mickey does everything he can to take care of him. But here’s the thing: that scares Ian too. He’s seen what happens to the people who try to take care of Monica. He knows how it felt to try only to be ignored or betrayed or abandoned. The breakup isn’t about anger at being coddled or, by my interpretation and Ian’s own words, him being selfish. It’s about him seeing that Mickey’s devotion is going to keep him from living his life and ultimately (in his opinion) hurt him beyond repair, and so he sets Mickey free. It hurts him, yes, but it does work.
Because even though we don’t see it happen on-screen, s6 through s9 can’t possibly be Mickey sitting in a prison cell pining over Ian. If that was going to happen, we’d have seen it in s4. By this point, we know who Mickey is outside of Ian and can assume that he’s operating in much the same way on the inside until he figures out what he wants to do. We know he and Svetlana had a business arrangement where they took out contracts for work he could do in prison. We know that he makes a business acquaintanceship with Damon, which means he was probably involved in dealing or smuggling while there. Neither of these things can possibly revolve around devotion to Ian because they could conceivably keep him from Ian longer. His sentence is fifteen years, and if he’s counting on being out in eight to be with Ian, he needs to be on his best behavior. He’s not. He’s unapologetically not when he sees Ian again and talks about what Damon is. Ian looks less than comfortable with it, but that’s not why they ditch him—it’s because he might get Mickey caught with his behavior. Even breaking out happened once he was able to solidify an opportunity working for a cartel, so while Ian may have been another catalyst (besides the obvious desire to get out of prison), the decision wasn’t about devotion to him. The only decision that was about that was the one he made at the border to let Ian go without making him feel worse about it. He’s devoted to Ian, so he knows that dragging him along on the run into the unknown won’t be good for him. He needs stability and a support system and medication, none of which Mickey can provide if they cross that border together. So, out of his devotion, he lets Ian go. They have a heartfelt goodbye and separate for what they think is the last time.
Does Mickey’s devotion lead him to turning himself in? Absolutely. But not before spending another long stint living his own life. The writers make sure we know that he had a life without Ian playing a role in it, once again conducting business and operating successfully on his own merits. They’re limited in what they can show because Noel wasn’t available, which made logistics important, but they didn’t leave him high and dry or insinuate that he was waiting around in Mexico for an excuse to return to Ian. He was once again a successful businessman in the illicit economy. When he returns in s10, his storyline does then appear to revolve around devotion to Ian more—but it doesn’t. Mickey has people he hangs out with in prison separate from Ian and with no ties to him. With the Byron situation, it wasn’t about proving devotion for Ian when he thought Ian questioned it—it was about hurting Ian because of what happened at the courthouse, even after he found out what Ian was really afraid of. If the writers were only interested in showing his devotion to Ian, he would have ditched Byron the second Ian told him that he was scared of his disorder and ruining them. He doesn’t. He sticks it out because Mickey is so much more than his relationship with Ian: he’s independent, vengeful, hot-headed, impulsive, and stubborn. These are traits that have been set up by the writers throughout the series both with and without ties to their relationship, and he very adamantly adheres to his revenge-plot-turned-catalyst-for-Ian-pulling-his-head-out-of-his-ass because he isn’t all about devotion to Ian.
I completely respect your opinion on the matter and appreciate the opportunity to discuss it at length! Ultimately, it boils down to this for me: the writers get a lot off flack for some of the narrative decisions and, of course, they won’t always be to our liking. Opinions and preferences assure us of that. I don’t think it’s about us being more realistic or more capable of analyzing a character, though. Everything above was written. It wasn’t spelled out and handed to us, no, but the writers put it there so that we could then analyze it. There’s no analyzing a blank slate or someone whose only narrative is devotion to Ian. The writers have given us a wealth of things to consider when it comes to all the characters, Mickey included, and we wouldn’t be able to have this conversation if they didn’t. Mickey is intelligent, thoughtful, insightful, and more than capable of standing on his own two feet as both a fictional person and a character. If he chose Ian, then it’s because he has weighed all these things and found them to be nothing in the grand scheme of their love for one another. Again, though, we can agree to disagree. Ian walks slowly down the fresh vegetable aisle, crossing off the mental list in his head of things  he needs to get for the recipe Mickey’s insisting on making. He’s gotten really into cooking cooking recently, not just throwing something in the microwave and hitting 30 seconds kind of cooking. 
It’s pretty hot, actually. 
Often Ian will come home from work and the kitchen will be filled with all sorts of smells, some good and some terrible - Mickey’s still learning. There’s been a few burnt dinners and a couple of small pan fires, but nothing too overly drastic. Whenever a recipe fails, or Mickey doesn’t seem completely satisfied in his success, he gets up and tries the same one again. Point blank, in his stubborn way, refusing to be beaten by a page and a half of instructions. Ian can help but find it incredibly endearing. He didn’t think he’d ever see the day Mickey made him something that wasn’t pizza pockets or mac and cheese from a box, so he’s relishing in it. 
Perhaps marriage really does change people. 
It’s been just over three months since they got married and though Ian sometimes still struggles with the girth of it all, he doesn’t regret it one bit. He’s stopped looking up divorce statistics and searching for a reason for everything to all fall to shit, so that’s a definite step up. He’s taking it day by day but it’s good. He’s happier these days too, everyone’s noticed it, he’s noticed it. He feels lighter, things roll off of his back more - the same goes for Mickey too. They’ve barely even bickered in the last few weeks, which is so incredibly unlike them, they can’t quite believe it. 
Is this what it feels like to finally have time? Time to be a couple, time to be codependent and independent all in the same moment, time to actually exist as a them and not be broken apart by homophobic dads, or mental illness, or incarceration? 
Having the space and the freedom to actually co-exist with one another without something hanging over their heads is a foreign concept to both of them, but Ian thinks they’re kind of nailing the whole marital bliss thing. They wake up together, often wrapped around one another, safe and warm. They go to their separate (parole approved) jobs, Ian often driving and dropping Mickey off - sometimes the other way round depending on their afternoon plans. There’s kisses on the cheek in greetings and goodbyes, ass grabs in passing and arms locked around shoulders. They’ve been holding hands more a lot, unable to pull themselves apart when they literally don’t have to be, craving each other’s touch and comfort almost every second of the day. 
It’s everything 16 year old Ian could’ve dreamed of and more. 
Ian’s fingers brush over the sweet peppers, wondering whether Mickey wanted red or green - or was it yellow? He doesn’t know what Mickey's making for them later, only that he needed to get the ingredients right now as Mickey didn’t have time between work and the quickie they managed to squeeze in before they had to run out of the door. It’s Ian’s day off, he figured he’d treat his husband to a little domestic run to the supermarket. He’s about to pull out his phone to text Mickey to check, God forbid he buys the wrong type of peppers, when he hears his name being called. 
‘Ian?’ 
His head shoots up towards the voice, it’s familiar. 
‘Ian is that you? Ian Gallagher?’ 
Well, count that on the list of things that Ian didn’t expect to happen today. 
Kash is standing in the same aisle, just a few feet over from him. He looks older, much older than Ian can remember him. His hair has a minor smattering of grey, but nothing hugely noticeable. His eyes are tired, and there’s a couple more wrinkles than there was before, but other that, he looks mostly the same. 
Their obvious difference in age makes Ian’s skin crawl, like tiny little ants making their way up his bones and into his veins. He shudders, unable to believe he let 16 year old him be used by this absolute tool. 
‘Kash...Hi.’ Ian says, caught completely off guard. It comes out awkwardly, his discomfort horribly evident in his voice. Kash’s face shifts slightly, making Ian cringe. 
‘How are you- what’s it been like, 6 or 7 years?’ Kash continues, his hands adjusting his grip the shopping basket he’s carrying. 
‘Probably more like 8.’ Ian replies and it feels forced. There’s an awful beat of silence where neither man knows where to approach next. Ian just wants to get his peppers and move onto the beans aisle, what the fuck is Kash going to want to talk about next, the weather? His phone buzzes, he pulls it out of his pocket to check the notification, happily taking a moment for a distraction. Kash makes a noise of surprise at the movement and Ian looks up questioningly. He can feel the light scowl on his face - it’s nothing too seriously pissed off, but there’s definitely an air of bother about it. 
‘You’ve got a ring.’ Kash says, gripping his basket with one hand so he can bring one up to point the other at Ian’s left side. ‘You’re married?’ 
The wedding band suddenly feels incredibly heavy on his finger - it’s a good weight though, it’s grounding. He can feel the corners of his mouth twist up into a soft smile, it’s comforting, knowing that he has that little piece of Mickey with him wherever he goes. 
He still hasn’t gotten the hang of remembering to put it back on every time he does the dishes or something, much to Mickey’s chagrin, but he’s working on it. 
More importantly though, he’s wearing it right now. 
‘Yeah I am.’ Ian replies, it’s proud and firm. His thumb rubs lightly over the band. 
‘Wow.’ Kash says with both the tone of somewhat surprise and disbelief. He steps forward ever so slightly, and Ian moves back an inch automatically, keeping the distance. ‘The last time I saw you, you were hooking up with...was it Mickey Milkovich?- God knows where that kid ended up.’ There’s a beat, ‘Prison, hopefully.’ He adds. 
It’s biting and dismissive - Ian knows it’s supposed to be a light joke, but it makes his fists curl protectively. He knows he can’t entirely blame Kash for thinking Mickey wouldn’t amount to much, given the fact the kid spent most of his juvenile years robbing him openly (and completely unapologetically), but it makes his jaw clench tightly. Mickey, is and always was, so much more than a neighbourhood thug. 
So much more. 
Keep it together, he tells himself. He breathes, allowing the tension to roll off his shoulders and down into the floor. 
‘Who’s the lucky guy?’ Kash asks, it’s weird and kind of gross. Being around him, so many years later and being much more clear headed, makes him feel slightly sick in his stomach. ‘Someone I know?’ 
This makes Ian smirk slightly, ‘You could say that.’ 
This is going to be fun. 
‘Who?’ Kash says, his eyes narrowing suspiciously, it’s a stark contrast to the friendly attitude he’s been trying to throw off. 
‘I guess I, well we, should say thank you.’ Ian says, shrugging his shoulders in an attempt to come off as cool and casual as possible, ‘we would’ve never met without your...er, help.’ 
Was that the right word to use? He doesn’t really care, it’s hilarious to watch Kash squirm. He watches the gears working in his head as the older man puts two and two together. He’s surprised at how easily Kash clocks on, only taking a moment before his eyes widen in shock. 
‘You’re kidding me.’ Kash says, his jaw practically falling out of it’s socket with how dramatically it drops. It hangs there for a second, and Ian just grins. Kash adjusts himself, gulping. ‘You’re married... to Mickey Milkovich?’ He says Mickey’s name with a whisper, ducking his head slightly, as if to avoid being heard. 
‘The very same.’ Ian states smoothly, holding Kash’s gaze firmly, daring the older man to make a judgement. 
You’re not allowed to say shit, he thinks, you are literally the last person on earth who is allowed to judge anyone over who they marry. 
He hopes to fucking God there’s hasn’t been anymore 16 year olds, he hopes he got himself some therapy. What is he even doing back in Chicago? 
‘I don’t know what to say.’ Kash adds after a moment, the air between them stilted and awkward. Ian wants to leave, groceries be damned, but he knows Mickey would probably kill him to let his opportunity slip. He always did love to gloat right in Kash’s face, whether it be over a tube of pringles he stole, a snickers bar or Ian himself. 
‘Don’t say anything then.’ Ian says curtly, it comes off ruder than he intended but he doesn’t really care. 
‘Really? Mickey?’ Kash asks unpleasantly, and Ian doesn’t like the way Mickey’s name sounds in his voice. Like it’s dirty, and imperfect. 
‘Yeah.’ Ian says firmly, the tension palpable, ‘We’re really fuckin’ happy. Big wedding and everything.’ He waves his hand out in an exaggerated gesture, hoping to help hammer the point home. He’s happy, he’s so happy, he’s happier than he’s ever been for literal years. Fuck this guy, fuck his judgement. 
‘Didn’t expect that.’ Kash says, it’s quiet but comes out clear. His brows furrow together, the aged wrinkles on his forehead deepen. ‘Honestly, I’m just surprised he didn’t end up locked up-’ He stops himself, ‘And you…’
There it is again - there’s that age old judgement glinting in his eye. Or is it discomfort? Longing?
It’s an echo of something familiar, it’s a look he was thrown back in the day when he restocked the shelves incorrectly or when he would brush Kash’s prying hands off nearer the end of Their Thing when Mickey fell into the picture.
‘Thanks for letting Mickey steal your gun.’ Ian says cooly, hoping it lands as the jab he intended it to be, which it does, if he can tell anything by the way Kash flinches.
He grabs the closest pepper, Mickey’s pedantic need to follow a recipe perfectly be damned, and shoves it in his basket. Kash stands there awkwardly, dumbfounded. 
‘Would you mind? I need an onion.’ He says, holding his voice steady. Kash doesn’t reply, just standing and staring at him somewhat blankly. Ian points to the shelf full of onions Kash is blocking easy access to. He doesn’t move, his mouth gaping slightly as he, Ian assumes, searches for something to say. Ian shrugs, and leaning around him, grabbing a yellow onion and shoving it in his basket. 
‘Hope you figured your shit out.’ He adds and that’s it, that’s all he’s going to give him. He’s not going to wish him well or say he hopes he found true love or some shit. He might’ve done when he was a kid, but not anymore, not when he could never even dream of touching a kid the way Kash did. He turns and walks confidently down the aisle, away from Kash, away from the mistakes he made as a dumb 16 year old, away from the weird and fucked up in so many ways life he used to lead. It’s weird, when he was a kid he truly believed it was him against the world - especially growing up in such a volatile lifestyle like the South Side. He wishes someone had told him properly that there’s always support if he knew where to look for it...or well, in Ian’s case, if you go to steal back a stolen gun and come back with a boyfriend, husband, instead. 
Not that it happened that easily, he’s not kidding himself. 
As he scans the beans a few moments later, he makes a silent vow to never let his and Mickey’s future kid - because it’s happening, no matter how many times Mickey scoffs at the suggestion - ever feel like they have to go to a strange middle aged man for comfort.
Or anyone else for that matter. They’re gonna be such fucking good parents. 
The thought about their future is warm and sits happily in his stomach, bubbling away lightly. He doesn’t feel too thrown off from seeing Kash, the pent up tension slowly ebbing away as he allows himself to relish for a moment on his and Mickey’s future. A future they finally get to have, think about and plan. It’s finally in arms reach and they are going to achieve absolutely everything that they want to from now on. Jobs, kids, money? A house of their own? Cats, dogs, and maybe even a goddamn Hamster. 
It doesn’t matter, they’re gonna do it all. 
So yeah, Kash, thanks for that.

I play a tengu ranger in pathfinder rn his name is Ole Despaice
the ref I made at the beginning of this campaign (started at the beginning of the school year) looks like this

Anyways so when he was a tiny childe, his father, an Elm Cloak Ranger, just up and left without any word as to why. He’s assumed dead. We’ll return to that bitch later. 
He’s still a boy when his mom gets super sick and he has to run on his own to find a doctor since his hunter-gatherer village is so small. He was too late when he got back. So he did what any young childe would do when he finds he’s an orphan, which is grab his mom’s bow, and HEAD FOR THE WOODS TO LIVE THERE FOR TWENTY YEARS WITH MINIMAL PEOPLE CONTACT
then a messenger finds him and he’s soon contracted with the Elm Cloak Rangers to take care of some bandits along with (soon to be bff) Irijah the warpriest, (Moral compass) Valerie the sorcerer, the Barbeerian Faelyn, Crazy Rock Lady Rorna, and Buff Mickey Mouse Ratsputin. 
Along the way the party is led over to this house in the middle of the woods to talk to this crazy old man. And then they find him.
Papa Orneth Despaice. 
And he’s skilled. (hes like level 12.) They fight at first then reconcile when it finally gets through Ole’s thick skull that the cultists they’re fighting had locked down on him and his mother so Orneth couldn’t communicate with them because if he did, they’d be dead. 
They hug.

Sidenote campaign shenanigans include:
Almost just stopped the campaign before it started by knocking the important rock off the pestle instead of touching it 
Got enthralled by the rock anyways a few weeks later
Convincing a couple orc guards that the Half Orc Irijah is Ole’s cousin and they were on a tour of the bandit hideout when she dissociated (the person who plays her wasnt at the session)
Getting mad at Faelyn for giving a tiny childe alcohol
becoming faelyn’s alcohol stash since im the only one who was smart enough to get a bag of holding
having a book say im a descendant of a magic bloodline and then just completely miss the magic shit that’s most likely connected to that
Pass off a cursed ring called The Game onto a random stranger and then Run
get called “little bird” but in a fantasy racist way
get called “little bird” in an endearing way by the giant hot woman in charge
be the disaster pan that he is and not pick up on possible flirting(?)
Got a cat animal companion. His name is Rails. He’s a good scout.
Then after a stealth mission poisoning a section of Orc Bandit/Cultists, one of the Main Leaders of the cult show up in Orneth’s house and fuckin

I was distraught for two whole days.
Anyways things happen, Ole becomes a follower of Erastil because Orneth was, and now we’re on our major last battle

130lb of Ukrainian Courage (pt 4)
Mickey wakes in the night to the sound of a car backfiring. For a moment his mind is completely blank and then the events of the morning flood back to him and he rolls over to find the space in the bed beside him is empty.
“Fuck sake, Ian.”
Mickey sighs, rubbing the sleep from his eyes and sitting up. He gropes for his phone and squints against the harsh light that tells him it is nearly 2am. There is no message from Ian.
Mickey tugs on his jeans and a knitted sweater that he only realises is Ian’s when the sleeves bunch up around his wrists. He doesn’t know where to begin looking, Ian could be anywhere by now and maybe just down the road at the Gallagher’s but Mickey can’t stand to just idly wait for him to come home. He waited all day and all evening and constant worry is not improving his temper at all.
He is halfway down when he notices a large lump on the sofa. His breath leaves him in a soft rush and Mickey closes his eyes, his shoulders sagging in relief.
Mickey steps lightly down the rest of the stairs and crosses the room as quickly as he can without actually running. Ian is on his side, his face relaxed in sleep, but his knuckles, lightly curled by his chin, are bloody and sore looking. Mickey swallows and sets his teeth lightly in his lip.
If he doesn’t wake him, Ian will be stiff as a board in the morning, the sofa is far too small for him. However if Mickey does wake him, Ian is probably going to tell him to fuck off.
He hovers in the agony of indecision for a moment and as he dithers, Ian’s eyes flicker open. Mickey narrowly resists the panicked urge to hide behind the back of the sofa, and instead crouches down so that they are on eye level.
Ian blinks blearily up at him and the beginnings of a smile touch his lips in the split second before everything comes back and his face hardens, eyeing Mickey with sudden distaste.
“Where were you?”
“Out.”
Ian snaps. Mickey snorts and nods, raising his eyebrows in weary acknowledgement of Ian’s tone
“Yeah I figured that. Where?”
“Like you care!”
“Course I fucking care! I was about to go out looking for you and haul your ass back myself.”
Mickey chances a small smile but it is not returned.
“Just go back to bed, Mickey.”
Ian rolls over with a dismissive shake of his head. He is tired and angry and he doesn’t want to have anything to do with Mickey yet.
“Hey ...”
Mickey tentatively reaches out but his hand is shrugged off immediately with an irritable jerk of Ian’s shoulder. Despite being May, the room is cold during the night and Ian is shivering slightly. Mickey sits on the edge of the sofa and twines his hands into the hem of his sweater looking down at Ian with a mixture of hurt and frustration.
“Will you come to bed, at least? You’re shivering.”
“I’m fine.”
Ian’s voice is muffled in the sofa cushions and Mickey huffs an impatient breath through his nose
“Come on, don’t be a stubborn dick…”
Mickey rolls his eyes and tugs at Ian’s shoulder insistently.
“FUCK OFF!”
Ian roars, shoving him away and nearly knocking Mickey onto the floor with the force of it. Mickey blinks a couple of times, completely taken aback. Ian never normally yells and neither of them have ever refused to come to bed before no matter how mad they have been. Mickey has no idea what this new horrible thing means but Ian will not look at him and is not tolerating his touch, and it sucks.
“Fine! Fuck you! Freeze. What do I care?”
Mickey stands up angrily and stomps toward the kitchen to get a beer. His hands are shaking as he stands by the sink, looking out into the darkness beyond. Ian normally wants to make-up and if he doesn’t then Mickey has really fucked up and needs to figure a way to make it right.
He runs his palm roughly over his face, striving for patience and walks back toward the sofa. Ian tenses, curling away from him in the confined space. Hurt and fear churn in Mickey’s stomach and he feels sick. He has never needed someone to look at him as badly as he needs Ian to look at him now but he won’t and Mickey doesn’t know how to ask.
“Ian …?”
There is no response.
Mickey takes a deep breath. All or nothing. He determinedly lies down on the sofa, wrapping one arm firmly around Ian’s chest and pressing his body flush against his boyfriends turned back. Ian gives a grunt of surprise and twists sharply but Mickey is not letting go and after a couple more attempts to dislodge him, Ian mutters an angry curse and gives up.
Mickey keeps his forehead pressed lightly against Ian’s back, breathing in the scent of him and trying to calm his nerves. Eventually the fine tremors of cold running through Ian cease and both men lie completely still. Mickey is stroking Ian’s chest lightly but the long-fingered hands he adores so completely do not come up to cover his own and after a while Mickey forces himself to ask the question that has been torturing him since Ian left the house this morning.
“You through with me now?”
Mickey is so terrified of the answer that only the agony of not knowing manages to wrench the words out of him.
Ian stays silent for a second and then sighs
“No.”
Mickey is glad he is lying down because the rush of relief makes him light-headed. He shifts himself slightly so that Ian won’t feel the way his chin has started wobbling and curls his knees up behind Ian’s own.
“I’m sorry about today.”
He murmurs. Ian doesn’t say anything but Mickey feels his shoulders relax ever so slightly and the rigid bend of his legs gives just a little. Mickey kisses the soft skin just visible over the collar of Ian’s shirt, a sweet, warm kiss that would normally make Ian stretch back against him like a cat in the sun. This time it only makes Ian roll his head slightly as if trying to erase the feel of it.
“You wanna … talk or something?”
“Not really.”
Ian shrugs. He clearly isn’t going to make this easy for Mickey and Mickey figures that is kind of fair enough. He snuggles in closer and focuses on the ground he has gained. Eventually he feels a thumb sweep over his knuckles and hooks his little finger around it gently.
“Do you even get why I’m so angry?”
Ian has been quiet so long that his voice startles Mickey and he gets momentarily tongue tied before answering and the words jumble out too fast
“Because I was a fuckin’ asshole. I didn’t mean what I said about Yevgeny not being yours.”
Ian begins to move and Mickey hastily shifts backwards, giving him room to roll over so that they are face to face. Green eyes meet blue and Ian’s hard expression softens just a fraction.
“I know you didn’t mean it. But you said it, Mick. You don’t get to throw that shit at me, not after everything we’ve been through.”
Ian’s voice is firm but a little swollen and Mickey trails his fingertips sympathetically over his boyfriend’s throat, nodding
“I know.”
“No, listen, you’re his real dad and I accept that but …”
“Ian, I might be the guy who knocked Svetlana up, but you’re just as much Yevgeny’s real dad as I am. He fucking loves you!”
Mickey sighs and runs his hand through Ian’s hair, gently separating a couple of wild tangles. Ian turns his head to nudge his nose against Mickey’s wrist. It is not a kiss but it is close.
“But you agreed to let some evil prick take him, without even talking to me about it.”
“He’s not taking him anywhere. Svetlana is goin’ to be there the whole time.”
Mickey tries to sound reassuring but it comes out a little defensive and Ian shrugs
“It can’t happen, Mickey. Simple as that.”
Ian says flatly
“You don’t know my dad, man. I can’t say no to him. He’s a fuckin’ psycho and he holds a damn grudge.”
“That is exactly why you HAVE to say no to him this time, Mickey!”
Ian pinches the bridge of his nose and squeezes his eyes shut tight trying to keep his temper as Mickey sits up and reaches for his cigarettes. He can’t lie still and think about Terry.
Ian sits up beside him and puts one large hand on the back of Mickey’s neck, desperate to understand what is going on inside his head.
“Yevgeny is just a little kid. He can’t handle Terry.”
Mickey snatches a cigarette from the pack lights it in a smoothly aggressive motion.
“My dad wants to meet him, which means Yev has a better fuckin’ chance than you do.”
“What the fuck are you talking about?”
“If I say no to him, he will come after me, Ian. He will want to hurt me and he might be a thick fuck but he ain’t completely dumb. He’ll come for you.”
Mickey’s voice is level and controlled but his nostrils are flaring and the fist not holding a cigarette is balled tightly on his lap.
“This is why you’re … Aww! Mick! I can handle myself.”
The pieces finally fall into place for Ian and he cups his boyfriends cheek gently in his palm but Mickey catches his hand not willing to be distracted, staring at Ian intently.
“I’m not talking about slapping you around a little! He … I … Ian, you would not be safe. Do you understand me?”
He manages finally but Ian only stares at him
“What about Yev?”
“He won’t fuckin’ hurt Yevgeny. It’s his grandson, Ian. And my dad never hurt kids. Women occasionally if they owed a fuck ton of cash, but never kids.”
Mickey draws hard on his smoke, letting a little of it curl out from his nostrils as he shakes his head
“His standards are pretty fucking low, but they do exist.”
Ian is sure there is some truth to that but it is still beside the point. However Mickey isn’t budging and Ian knows how fucking stubborn he can be, especially when his back is up against the wall. It will be like trying to convince a stone to bleed.
“You can’t just let him go with Svetlana. We need to be there.”
Mickey gives a small humourless laugh and shakes his head
“You think I’m letting you go near this? Have you listened to a single fuckin’ thing I just said?”
“I don’t care about me!”
“I CARE ABOUT YOU!”
Mickey flies off of the sofa and glares at Ian furiously
“You fucking hear me? I fucking love you!”
“I love you too…”
“Then let me do this my way. Let me keep you safe. Please?”
Mickey doesn’t often plead for anything. Most of his life he has simply taken what he wanted and dared anyone to stop him but he won’t do that with Ian. He respects him more than that and he knows Ian will not tolerate that shit even if he tries it.
Ian rubs his mouth and tips his head back. He fucking hates the situation but Mickey has made up his mind and more than that, he is asking Ian to support him. He never asks for support and Ian doesn’t want to refuse him now.
“You really think he won’t do anything to Yev?”
“No. Yev is probably the only person he doesn’t fucking hate.”
“OK. But you have to be there, not just Svet.”
“OK, fine.”
Mickey nods and lets out a long shuddering breath, holding his hand out to Ian.
Mickey kisses him as he stands, carefully at first and then more heatedly, his tattooed fingers grasping the fabric of Ian’s shirt with an urgent need that goes beyond seeking comfort or forgiveness and into something far more primal.  
Ian responds, locking his lips with Mickeys and pushing his tongue into his mouth and suddenly they are tearing the clothes from each other, not bothering to be gentle. This is not making love, it is not making peace. It is raw and carnal and possessive. It is claiming their place in each other’s hearts and carving their names into the battered parts of each of their souls, a reminder and a promise from each: You are mine. I am yours.
Ian gets Mickey ready with his tongue and fingers then slams his hips forward and Mickey takes every inch he can get, twisting his fingers into Ian’s hair, dragging the sensitive skin of his throat into view and crushing his lips against the fluttering pulse.
Ian can feel the release building in him like a gathering storm and cries out a second before Mickey and the last thing he sees as he plunges into his orgasm is the silver streak of tear tracks across his boyfriends cheeks. Mickey’s own orgasm is less like a rolling thunder and more like the lightening. It is sudden and explosive and ignites them both with electricity that will linger in their touches for days.

Ian doesn’t sleep immediately. His mind is whirling and even the solid weight of Mickey asleep on his chest can’t seem to make him switch off. He isn’t so sure as Mickey but then when it comes to most of the other Milkovich’s Ian supposes he really doesn’t know very much.
He gathers Mickey a little closer and kisses the top of his head. It had never occurred to him that he would be protecting Ian and misguided and crazy as it kind of is, Ian is still deeply touched.
He also has a week to change Mickey’s mind.

hey! i haven’t send anything in a while so all these feelings are sorta bottled up in my mind and i just needed to share them with you! soo. I got real sick and i’ve to stay home for a few days. Skipping school gave me more time to watch shameless and even though i dont wanna admit it, that’s all i’ve been doing for the past two or three days :“) NICE.
anyways!
i’m on season 5 currently, and shit just got real. real bad, real weird, real messed up! I knew Ian was going to turn out being bipolar, but the first time the mania started to kick in, it fucking terrified me. No seriously, all Ian scenes right after he’d got back from the army were nearly giving me chills. Knowing that "it” was going to happen made me so uncomfortable somehow. Damn, Cameron is a GREAT actor.
for the past two or three seasons, i honestly hated Lip for doing stuff he did to Mandy and so on, but after that, seeing how he truly cares about his family even though he’s terrible at relationships, i kind of still like him. idk.
Steve disappointed me. a lot. His comeback was epic, but i don’t trust him anymore. and i honestly don’t care about whether him and Fiona is going to happen again or not. He’s an asshole. at least for now.
The drama between Vee and Kev scared me a lot because i LOVE them and their beautiful relationship, but i know they’ll find ways to each other. ahh.
anyways, getting to the actual question, this isn’t really related to what i talked about, but whatever. so. who is your favorite female character and why(i hope i havent asked this already omg)?
personally for me, it’s either Mandy, or Svetlana. Or both. Svetlana has had a major development if you ask me, and instead of a dumb hooker, i see her as a different.. strong woman who has been though  A LOT but still managed to be who she is now. Idk, i think she’s hilarious.

Yes! Cameron is so underrated, same as Noel! I pray they both just keep getting more and more jobs because they are both so crazy talented and deserve every single role they want! And Ian was bonechilling in season 4 with how quick he would go from laughing hysterically to super serious, from relatively calm to murderous, just... fuck! And then 4x12 brings me to my knees. Gallavich can’t have one goddamn episode of happiness because even in 5x01, Mickey is so blissed out to have his family dynamic, his boyfriend and wife getting along, he’s got a new scam going that should be relatively easy to keep going, life is good right?! THEN we find out that Ian is cheating on him and rejecting any possibility that he’s like Monica. And it just keeps going from there and fuck my heart just can’t take it! T_T
Yeah, Lip and I have gotten along ONCE and that was in season 3 when he called everyone on their shit for letting the pedophile go just because she was a woman. Because even when he was taking care of Liam, I think he only took care of him to the extent that he did to a. get back at Fiona moreso than he believed she couldn’t and b. to get girls. It’s no coincidence to me that he was being rejected left and right and could only get his third or fourth choice to fuck him and then suddenly he brings Liam to school and BAM. Chick magnet. I think he milked that for all he was worth and no one will ever be able to tell me otherwise. Then in season 5 he acted like he gave a shit about Ian but what exactly did he do to show it? Not much. He criticized Mickey, talked to Mickey once, and talked about how guilty he felt being away from his brother when all he had to do was call him once or make the effort to visit him at the Milkovich house, awkwardness with Mandy be damned. MAKE PLANS! Go out and DO something! Invite him to dinner! FUCK! And finally the way he tries to convince Mandy to stay... He really thinks he’s God’s gift, especially with Mandy who has really low standards, and it’s disgusting. He takes advantage of her low standards to seem like a prince by spouting out sweet shit to her when he knows she’s vulnerable, and thinks that throwing his magic dick in her followed by telling her she deserves better and inviting her to breakfast is going to get her to stay. Fuck Lip. FUCK. Lip.
Steve was character assassination. Get used to it, love. Sadly that’s Shameless’ game. They love to tear their characters down after they’ve left so that the audience will stop asking for him. It never works, but that’s what they do. Granted, Jimmy/Steve was never THAT bad, but they really upped the asshole factor  for season 5 and it was really frustrating that they brought him back literally just to stir things up because they couldn’t get creative and think of a new conflict. Very disappointing, indeed.
As much as I hate the drama between Kev and V, I kind of liked it just because it’s relatively unrealistic to have a couple NOT have issues. I mean, don’t get me wrong, they had their issues, but they were generally resolved in two episodes MAX. So this was interesting because they also really got to the deep rooted problem and started looking a way to get past it, which is SUPER important. I also love that they showed the father getting uber obsessed with his children and the mother just not connecting the way she feels like she should. It’s great because it shows that there isn’t one right way to parent and there isn’t one right way to react to a life change like that. Some mothers don’t instantly latch to their children the way they are told they will and it sets up a lot of disappointment when it doesn’t happen. It was an interesting discourse.
Favorite female character is probably V. She is loyal to a fault and does what she has to do to get by and isn’t ashamed of it. She  loves fiercely and isn’t afraid to take charge and I LOVE that in a woman. And Shanola Hampton? She is H.O.T. HOT! Such a beautiful woman inside and out. <3 She is probably the only female character on this show that hasn’t seriously pissed me off tbh lol.
Svetlana and I have issues. It’s not just that she raped Mickey, but that she knew that what happened between them was nonconsensual but didn’t seem to understand that he wouldn’t want to be around her or see his kid. It may be that she is with that group of people who believe that men can’t be raped or something, but I will never forgive her for jumping to the blackmail game when Ian came back. She could have reasoned with Ian or told Mickey “look, it’s clear you don’t give a shit about the baby, but I’m keeping it and I can’t do it alone. We’re already married so why don’t you just help me with the kid. You don’t have to play husband, just be a father to the kid and help me out financially.” And if he still didn’t come along, just keep working on him and get Ian and Mandy involved! Be resourceful woman! She KNEW what would happen if Terry found out Mickey was still gay and to spite Mickey’s fear would put his life in very real danger just to get her way (and to support her child, I understand, but again... There are different courses of actions that could have been taken). Then there are future things that make me dislike her, but I’ll wait until I know you’re there to discuss them. :)

This is our happy ending(Gallavich)|| Chapter 11-Guess whos back

The last two months had been pretty good in the world of Gallagher-Milkovich , followed by a few Santiago’s.
Ian and Mickey had been making a whole bunch of plans for the house and after the month and a half of planing they broke ground a week ago.  They were so excited and feeling more in love then they ever have. They had sat lana down and asked her if she would move into the new house with them, her and Yev. She said “As long as my room far away from yours. I don’t wanna hear carrot tops moans”
Lily and Carl had been flirting and kissing for another 3 weeks before he finally asked her out.
“Its funny I feel like ive known you since I was born” Lily said looking into Carls eyes. His beautiful blue eyes.
“I know, I like this” He told her, linking his hands with her causing a smile to spread on her lips.
“I like this too, A lot”
“So be my girlfriend. I don’t want to wait any longer because if I do I could lose you and You are the best thing thats ever happened in my life”
Liam and Grayson had been getting closer, they had acted just like best friends and since no one knew Liam was gay no one ever thought any thing of it. But the sweet kisses when no one was looking and the hand holding under the table when they knew no one could see made Liam’s heart flutter. They weren’t official, neither of them asked questions but they followed the rules of dating and never even thought of seeing others. They liked each other a lot.
Lip and Mandy had been the same besides wedding planing and looking at houses to buy. Their relationship had never been better and they were both so happy. This is all Mandy had wanted for a long time.
- It was two am when Ian got the call, the call that changed his mind set and his world around once again.
He felt stupid for letting 3 words turn everything upside down but he couldn’t help it.
“Monica is back”
Fiona’s words kept replaying over and over in his head, giving him chills down his spine. He needed to go, surely the whole house was up and he was sure that Fiona’s next call would be to lip who would have gotten out of bed as soon as he heard the world Monica but he was wasn’t going without Mickey, he couldn’t.
So he turned his head, to see his beautiful sleeping boyfriend and shook him awake.
“Ian? What time is it?” “2:15” “Is the house on fire?” “No” “Has someone broken in?” “No” “Then I’m going back to bed, love you"Mickey said before turning his head the other way and closing his eyes.
"Monica’s back” he whispered, feeling like if it said it any louder it would all be too real and he didn’t want it to be. Mickey didn’t say anything, he just got up and walked to his dresser, Pulling out a hoodie and a sweat pants. God Ian loved him. As Ian did the same, pulling on sweats he felt himself shake, his legs and arms, his jaw even. Mickey noticed too, pulling red into a hug.
“I won’t let her hurt you again Ian, she can’t” he whispered in Ian’s ear, only getting a nod back.
The car ride had been silent but as soon as they got there they saw lips car and all the lights on.
“You ready?” Mickey asked talking Ian’s hand in his, before they opened the door to the screaming and yelling he could hear inside.
“No, but let’s go” he said opening the door.
As soon as they walked inside all the screaming stopped and eyes darted to them.
“Ian! The only one who understands, who’s like me” she said and started walking over, opening her arms. Mickey quickly dropped Ian’s hand and stood in front of him.
“No Monica he isn’t like you. You don’t get to use his illness against him” he said getting angry, he was so tired of Monica using his illness as an in to Ian’s life. He wasn’t gonna let it happen again.
“Mickey he’s my son, Move now”
“Your son? You have no idea what that word means. Mothers get to use that word and last time I checked you’ve walked out more than once on them, you aren’t a mother” Mickey said, getting a little louder. Ian had never been so thankful for Mickey until this moment.
“Mickey, that’s not fair. I was sick. I’m better now”
“For how long? Until drinking and coke becomes better again? Thats not fair? This isnt fair! These kids have been dealing with this bullshit all their lives and it needs to stop. If you and Ian ‘had the same thing’ you’d understand that you coming and going makes him worse. No, if you were a mother you’d understand that. The same way you’d understand the way you break Carls heart because he’s the baby boy that keeps forgiving you. Or the way Fiona maybe starts to think she has some help so she can get her life together only for you to leave with their money or some how trying to break the family part. You have no idea what it’s like to see these guys after you leave and I refuse to see my family hurting like this again”
All the Gallagher siblings had widened eyes, including Ian. None of them knew how but Mickey cared until now.
“Your family? Your just the thug down the street mick, they are my family”
“See Monica, that’s where your wrong. Family picks each other up, helps each other when one of them can’t do it on it’s own, saves the other one when they can’t save themselves  and most importantly a family has love and care and even worriment for one another and as far as I can see all you do is break them down while I do everything I possibly can to pick them up” at this point fiona had tears in her eyes and so did Mandy, lip stood in shock and Ian was trying not to cry.
Carl had called lily, asking her to come over, not saying anything but that and she heard the broken sound in his voice as he asked. She told him she’d be right over and to stay put. He could hear the screaming of Monica and Mickey from his place on the first step of the stairs outside. Where he use to sit every time Monica would fight with Fi or Frank as a kid. Carl had tears falling down his face, he couldn’t stop them and at this point he wasn’t even gonna try at this point. Monica was his weak point, the one that broke him over and over again.  Lily ran to his house as fast as she could, she was worried and scared and needed to know he was okay. She opened the gate and looked at him as his head shot up, tear streams down his face, eyes red and blood shot.
“Carl baby, what happened” She asked sitting next to him and pulling him in her arms, his head falling on her shoulder.
“Shes back” He whispered, that same heart broken, numb voice coming back again.
Lily stood up, holding her and put for Carl who of course  took it and the walked inside, hand and hand. Lily had started spending nights at the gallagher house, helping fi with the kids and carl loved her for it, so did Fiona. She had become part of the family.
“You can’t come crashing their worlds in again Monica, I wont let you, They don’t deserver this” She heard Mickey say as they walked in.
“Hes right, you should probably go” Lily said, angry by the sight of her. She has never met Monica in person, but she knows everything the bitch had done. Carl had spent a whole night crying to her about it and it broke her heart.
All eyes looked at her and carl. Fi’s heart broken when she saw Carls tear stained face.
“Who the fuck is she?” Monica said looking over.
“She’s my girlfriend” Carl told her wrapping his arms around the girl.
“You have a new girlfriend? Why didnt you tell me” Monica smiled.
“When would he have told you Mon? Before or after you try and get Ian to leave everything again? Before you go on a bender? or maybe before you let another 4 year old drive a car? These kids don’t fucking need this and they don’t want this. You make this boy or his family cry like this one more time and I wont be so nice” Lily told her, trying to step forward but was held back by her boyfriend.
“Coffee cake has a good fucking point” Mickey said, causing all the siblings to laugh a little, even Ian. Once Lily had brought the boys a coffee cake she had made and it was amazing, after that the name kinda stuck.
“Why can’t I just come and see my family? Ive said sorry” Monica said starting to cry herself.
“Why is everyone Yelling?” Liam said walking down the stairs, still half asleep, his eyes widening once he sees her.
“Liam, baby” Monica said walking over to him.
“No. No fucking way” He said, pushing paster her and running out the door. The last time he saw her she promised to be at his eighth grade grad, she was there when he went to school that morning and took off in the afternoon. It broke her heart. He laid in bed crying for two days, all he wanted was his mom there. Liam ran, not really sure where he was going, but he just kept running. Why would she show up when everything was fucking good for once? why did she feel the need to break down every human possible.
He should have known where he was going but it didn’t really set in until he was at their front door. Grayson. He knocked on the door somewhat loudly. knowing sophia was at the diner and Lily was at his house it was just Grayson home and he had probably fallen asleep a while ago. It took a few minutes but Grayson answered the door, shirtless and sleepy.
“Liam? Babe? why are you crying?” Liam hadn’t even realized that he had been crying since he had pointed it out.
“Can I come in? I can’t go home” He told the older boy, talking soft and sadly. Grayson didn’t say anything, his just opened his arms and as soon as Liam was in them the real tears started. He walked carefully with the crying boy still held protectively in his arms. He placed Liam on his bed, taking off his shoes and running around to the other side and getting in before pulling Liam back into his arms, one hand wiping the falling tears from his face and the other rubbing circles on his back.
“Baby you gotta tell me whats going on” Grayson said softly causing Liam to open his eyes and look into his lovers. Grayson saw the hurt and heartbreak in his eyes.
“My mom, she came back”  He said. Unlike Lily Garayson didn’t know a whole lot about the Monica situation, just that she had come and gone his whole life.
“Then Mickey came over and started defending us and then your sister did the same and Monica kept talking about wanting her family and then I walked downstairs, I guess not really realizing what I had heard before, not realzing it was monica and when I walked downstairs she tried to hug me and call me baby and I ran, here. To you.” Liam said looking back into Grayson’s and Gray’s heart just broke. He cared every much for the boy in his arms and it had made him sad someone had so much power over him.
“Do you wanna talk about it?”
“Do you mind?” He asked weakly.
“Not at all baby” He told the boy, placing a soft kiss on his forehead.
Liam had spent the next two hours telling Grayson all about Monica, about eighth grade grad to the car to the time she fucked with Ian’s mind, all of it, he had cried a few times through it all, more times than he’d like to admit but Grayson didn’t mind.
Things were a mess back other at the Gallagher house, after Monica had called them her"Family" for the 10th time Lip lost it. Ian had broke down in Mickeys arms and Mandy was doing everything she could to calm her soon to be husband down.
“Is this all worth it Monica?” Fiona asked, finally speaking up after hours.
“Liam ran out, Ian is breaking down, Carl has already had a panic attack, Lily and Mickey have to sit here and watch you tear us apart again and Im here trying to figure out once again what you want, because it isn’t us. You came back for Liam for bob. You came for a fake teddy bear and Frank, You’ve come here to Get Ian off his meds, You’ve come here for shelter, food and drugs. So what do you want this time” Fiona asked, standing up and waling closer to the older girl.
“Im dying, and I wanted to say goodbye”
