In the majority of the Httyd franchise Snotlout is trying so hard to be what he thinks people want from him. Which is why I love his development in rtte so much because he is always so scared of being unimportant to people but then he has to actually confront his deep fears and anxieties and reconcile with parts of himself he pretends doesn’t exist. And then he is able to see that he desires his own approval over the approval of others even if the two goals overlap occasionally. Then he is able to become the best version of himself and the best version of him is the one that is kindest to himself

I'm still kind of sort of upset over the lack of dialogue/reactions from anyone nearing the end of act 2 and pretty much the whole of act 3.

Like after the Gith ambush you on the road to Baldur's gate I feel like I'm shaking Gale to just talk to me about what happened as well or say something ANYTHING. LIKE YOU CAN ALSO TALK TO LAE'ZEL ABOUT IT IN FRONT OF ME PLEASE?!??!

No one really has anything to say when the Emperor can reveal that he was behind Stelmane's death and failing health. WYLL?!? HELLO???? It just doesn't make sense to me. Even if the Emperor had only revealed it to your Tav WHY wouldn't you then go over and just tell everyone in camp about it??? I wanted an option to at least tell Wyll about it since he looked up to Stelmane as a kid.

Also WHY can't I confide in anyone about the Emperor or just talk about it. I feel like Gale and Halsin would both offer some good advice on if I should trust this mindflayer or not. Gale's talk about Raphael in Act 1 was so good and I expected more conversations with him about who we should put our trust in as the game progresses. It would have been interesting to see his opinions on the Emperor after the mindflayer reveal.

Gale can also disprove of you agreeing to play along with Haarlep but the fact that he stays silent EVEN WHEN YOU'RE IN A ROMANCE WITH HIM??? He's not silent at all if you decide to cheat on him with Mizora.

bakugou is at your apartment, when you get home.

you recognize his car in a spot that's usually vacant, over by the mailboxes in the back lot no one ever parks in. it's the only one he ever uses when he comes over, the only time it's ever used, and the sight of it has something tingling in your belly. he didn't tell you he was coming, no text or missed call, and your first thought is one of worry.

maybe he’s here to break up with you, in person because he's not a coward, or he's getting the few things of his to take back to his house. maybe he's not all that interested in you anymore. he's a busy guy, busy life, probably meets all kinds of beautiful people on the daily. he just got back from a three week case a few days ago; maybe he met someone new.

maybe it's not even him. maybe it's deku or kirishima in his car because something's wrong—

when you fling the front door open, bakugou is standing in your tiny kitchen. shoulders raised. popping the joints of his knuckles as he glances from the tv to you. he's alive and fine and he's kind of glaring at you but he's kind of always glaring at you, and it's not the kind that makes him look actually angry.

"hey," you breathe, and he nods once, mouth in a stiff line as he scratches the back of his head.

it smells—good. you realize it delayed, but once your mind catches up with the sound of a sizzling pan and the sight of him in a pair of soft sweatpants and the garlic fragrance in the air, you smile so hard that your cheeks hurt. bakugou squeezes a fist at his side, but drops it just as quickly.

you dump your bag on the ground and shuffle out of your shoes, moseying up to him to plant a fat kiss on his cheek, that he accepts with little reluctance. he runs a palm down your back firmly, quickly, before pressing his mouth against your hairline as a silent greeting. so close to him, you can peer over the curve of his shoulder to see the plates that are already made and waiting on the counter, and when you step back, he turns before you can ask any questions.

the few veggies he'd been finishing get served into the second plate and he makes you sit at the shoddy dining table before placing the food in front of you, without a word. he still hasn't really said anything, and so you ask, "is this for me?" and it's not about the food. it's about the act, whatever this is. him, being here unannounced. waiting for you after work, looking soft and cuddly and kissable.

bakugou grumbles, "who else?" before shoving a steamy carrot into his mouth and any leftover fear about getting dumped is tossed out the window. he still doesn't say much, but he listens to you prattle on about work, shakes his head when you recount the ugly thing a customer said to you—trying to hide his smile when you tell him how you clapped back at the dirtbag—and he asks you, once, if the food is any good.

"of course," you smile and it drops his eyes back to his plate. "always is. thank you for doing this, by the way, it's—i'm so touched. seriously. thank you."

you two haven't been dating all that long, a couple of months maybe. four or five; it's hard to say exactly when you crossed into this territory, going from texting every other week to getting drinks on his off days to sleeping at his house more than you probably should. nothing really official happened, just one day you decided to visit him at work and when the receptionist asked who you were to him before buzzing you in, you'd said,

"i guess i'm—we're sort of, uh, seeing each other, maybe. i guess."

and she'd called his office and told him, "dynamight, sir, your girlfriend is here to see you."

and he'd come down, looking more surprised than you'd ever seen him, and he said, "yeah. she's—let her in, or whatever. she's—my girlfriend. yeah."

and that was it.

now he's in your apartment, unannounced, cozy and sweet, shooing you away so he can do the dishes.

"'s my damn mess, so get out and lemme clean it."

when he finishes, he comes to sit on the couch at the opposite end, snorting when you bounce your way into his lap, back against the arm so that you can lay your legs across him, and he pretends not to notice all the attention you're giving him. you think it makes him uncomfortable, something that always surprises you, but he's been like this before. unable to look at you, stiffening almost imperceptibly every time you touch him.

you run a hand through his hair, pinching at the thin skin of his ear until it makes him flinch, and then you whisper, "hey," for him to finally look back at you.

he's frowning, and he doesn't say anything.

which makes you frown, has that worry coming back. "everything okay?"

bakugou huffs. "somethin' gotta be wrong in order for me to come see you?"

you press your lips together, because you don't want to rile him up. you're learning that it's easier to do when he's soft like this. as if he's exposed and expecting a fight. he must realize what he's doing, the defensive act, and he sighs, returning his gaze to the tv as he squeezes your thigh.

"'m fine."

doesn't sound like it, but maybe that's just him. it feels like there's so much you know about bakugou, and yet as if there's still much to learn. it excites you in a girly, giddy way, getting to meet all his different sides. "hey," you grab his cheeks in your hand tightly so that his lips pucker, turning him to you again. his eyebrows pull down hard and you can tell he's getting ready to thrash out of your grip, so you give him a quick kiss that turns him red when you pull away.

you tuck into the curve of his neck, kissing the thick vein there, and you laugh when he squirms. bakugou squeezes you again in quick succession until you're squirming, and you aren't looking at him, but you think he might be smiling. playful.

the tv plays on for a while before he finally clears his throat. "case lasted three weeks, or whatever." you hum in acknowledgement and nestle further into him, into his warmth. "felt like for-fuckin'-ever."

"i bet, you're probably worn out, huh?"

tch. "no, 'm fine. just sayin'. it's—been a while."

you sit up to look at him, though he's purposely keeping his eyes elsewhere. anywhere that's not you, as the heat on his face burns to the tips of his ears. he must be able to feel how intently you're watching him, because the longer you look, the deeper his frown gets.

the bigger your smile gets. "what, d'you miss me or something?" he scoffs, but doesn't say anything. doesn't disagree. against your leg you feel him again, making that fist just to drop it. your smile melts down into something real. soft. "bakugou," you poke at his cheek until he jerks his face away, scowling. it makes you laugh and he tries to disentangle himself from you, but you just wrap your arms around his neck to hug him tighter, pressing your lips to his hair. "i missed you, too. i was so excited to see you here, i love having you over."

it takes a minute, but he finally relaxes into you, turning his own face into the curve of your shoulder, hiding. you feel his lips right under your ear, slightly damp from biting them too much. all he says is, "yeah" and you don't know exactly what he's answering to, but you think—when you feel him smile, just a bit before nipping you—that he might love being over too.

IDK 73 yards leaving so much unexplained - i think it was a help rather than a hindrance. folklore ceases to be folklore if we know step by step the action and reaction of everything that happens

within the framework of a folklore type story what is much more interesting is following the actions and emotions of a character and what the mysterious unexplained element might be a metaphor or stand in for in the narrative rather than nitpicking about: was that an alien and does their species have the power of teleportation? but idk why the dr vanished?

does any of that matter to the story that was trying to be told?

OKAY SO. shading, thing i am apparently accidentally really good at. it’s probably the thing i’ve gotten compliments on the most over the years which is funny because it’s probably the thing i’m Least confident that i can do well. therefore i can’t really give a tutorial but i can give a bunch of disjointed notes

(shown above is my Default Shading, further examples of different lighting below)

everything else under the cut or this is gonna be a mile long

i like using blue for shading, yellow/orange for lighting but generally you can just make them opposite/complimentary colours to each other and that’ll work. cool shadows, warm light or warm shadows, cool light. you get it. that’s a general rule there’s probably exceptions. i will say i hate using purple for shadows but that’s a personal preference (as is every colour i use being so saturated lol)

the orange around the edges is supposed to be subsurface scattering on skin but i put it on all the edges because i like how it looks 👍

yes there’s two different bounce lights. idk why i do this. i also just think it looks nice. i guess the one on the shading layer is more for form and the one on the lighting layer is more for the yk. lighting? anyways the first one is just a lighter version of the shading colour the second one is darker and slightly hue shifted (depending on the lighting scenario — it can be brighter if the situation calls for it)

the reason i don’t just shade around the edges is because it can make things look very flat which is the opposite of what you want when shading. sometimes it can just go on the edges in some specific scenarios but i like my shadows Chunky. basically having it go over the form instead of just along it can help show that form more

top left - night time | top right - bisexual? | bottom left - spotlight i guess? | bottom right - default/daylight again, just wanted to show a shape example

something i’ll also do a lot is have a separate multiply layer that’s just one colour and i’ll throw that over the whole thing to get the base colours correct for the lighting scenario. some people do it by eye but i am lazy so i cheat 👍 often it’ll be the same as the more detailed shadow colour but as with the top right example sometimes it’s different

shadows are either on multiply or linear burn, lights are either on add (glow) or glow dodge. depends on what looks best. same with opacity, i don’t have any real rules there

i also LOVE harsh lighting but that’s just a me thing. UMMM i can’t think of anything else to say

so next is ANATOMY okay this is also something i’m not super confident with lol but i can give some more disjointed notes by just redlining my own sketches lol

the uuuh “bottom of boobs is 2/3 down the ribs” isn’t technically correct? if ur drawing someone with big boobs and no bra on they’re probably gonna go lower but that’s kinda. where they come out from i guess. i also don’t think the “ribs” i draw are technically accurate but it works for a reference point

arms are a diamond (the shoulder.. muscle.. thing… idk what it’s called) and then some Tapered Tubes idk they’re not super complicated. if you wanna get more into it go google buff people and trace/redline their arms that’s how i learnt orz and uuuh i kinda also have the taking up 2/3 of the ribs but a bit Above. the way i’ve worded that makes no goddamn sense i’m bad at explaining this

ANYWAYS yeah bodies are just shapes if you want ppl to look unique just squash or stretch out the shapes 👍 and also learn actual anatomy stuff that always helps. my final message: learn to draw fat people it is no more difficult than drawing thin people

pinterest in general is good for outfit design stuff as long as you know where/how to look. u could also try fashion blogs and stuff

ummm a lot of stuff does just come from my own head tho, like based on clothes i like or vaguely inspired by stuff i’ve seen before. if you look through the board you can also see that like i rarely ever copy stuff directly i kinda just use whatever stuff i find as a base to work from. just find stuff you like and go from there i guess, i sometimes like picking a specific subculture or fashion style for a character and seeing what i can make from that (like missa is emo/scene, slime is like some kinda ravecore thing?? idk)

this is something i do on Most drawings to the point i have an auto action set up for it. duplicate the entire drawing (on csp the easiest way is to just merge visible to new layer), gaussian blur to like ? idk i think it’s 40% or something? i don’t remember, set that layer to soft light and lower the opacity

Since that was a response to someone else's post and I don't have enough to say in terms of all or most of the topics to reblog it in response, yeah, I'd say the Agarthans are the lesser of the two evils to Edelgard. If it was the other way around, I would imagine she'd ally with Rhea to get rid of Thales and Friends, but she chooses Thales and Friends over Rhea.

I understand she needs their assistance to win her war and all that, but Edelgard could've just as easily allied with Rhea after telling her the truth about the Agarthans and whatnot (Hopes notwithstanding since that's a different situation and would for another post/ask/etc), and she'd have a power equal to the Agarthans allied with her. By which I mean, Rhea and Thales+the other Agarthans are basically at the same strength, so she more or less had a choice between the two sides to ally with. Having Rhea would also mean having the KoS which isn't a group to scoff at.

So yeah, that said, I think she determined Agarthans were just less evil in her mind (especially considering she has similar values to them, such as saying in the Lonato chapter that she'd sacrifice her own people for her goals, but that's also exactly what Solon does to Kronya, and in Hopes, what Arval does to Solon. In other words them doing that isn't a moral nope I'm out for her/obviously wasn't a deciding factor).

Also, I think it's very likely that she preferred to side with humans over dragons. It reminds me a lot of this one line in FE9, where an NPC says he'd rather side with humans/his own kind because "at least you know what you're getting". Considering the hatred she seems to have (for unexplored reasons) toward dragons, it would make sense that she would choose to side with the people who are human like her.

She seems to have more reasons/goals/things in common with Agarthans overall, and if she doesn't accept Rhea's values and such, it makes sense that she'd have a preference toward Agarthans. No idea if you could say that Thales has a part in it because he's by appearance her uncle, so maybe that plays a part too? Again, unexplored, but it could be a factor since Thales has had her uncle's body for years now and is pretending to /be/ her uncle to the public.

Yet again, UNEXPLORED LOL, but I wish they went more into depth of like, why would she side with the people who tormented her and killed all her siblings? Why would she listen to anything they told her, much less ally with them? I was much more preferable to SB's situation because it felt more like the right thing to do as far as her character. If they had that much of a chokehold on the Empire, there was still nothing stopping her once she was safely in GM and could've talked to Rhea privately, and also asked that she doesn't do anything to raise their suspicions that Rhea and Friends have caught on/know what's happening because it could put her/the Empire/etc in danger.

The whole "they have us in a chokehold" kind of thing isn't really how it goes in CF because she does willingly want them allied with her to use their tech and whatnot, so it's a mutual usage and she does target Cornelia who ends up being collateral damage for being in Faerghus when she attacks Faerghus (again, a technical ally who she ends up killing).

Which like, she didn't have to attack Faerghus at all because Cornelia had so much power there. Again, that was an ally of hers technically; though I guess it gets muddy because Rodrigue still trusted Cornelia and was working alongside her in CF, so it's highly likely Cornelia was fighting /with/ Faerghus to take out Edelgard before truly running the place with an iron fist (which like, that might be true in general; I don't really remember since my memory on CF overall is a little hazy in comparison to the other routes).

Also makes me think that was another thing they should've put more focus on (which they absolutely could have considering CF was cut short chapter-wise). Thales gets mad that they attacked Cornelia, but was Cornelia actively fighting the Empire with Faerghus, or was she holding back (i.e. Faerghus was fighting the Empire but Cornelia personally was trying to mitigate damage because it would benefit the Agarthans)?

If Cornelia wasn't doing anything, yeah, I can understand Thales getting mad, but if she was, then he can't really be mad that they killed an Agarthan in the middle of that conflict. Like, Faerghus was going to fight back no matter what, but Rodrigue was treating Cornelia like a commander or something? So like... what was the Agarthans' role in all that? How much did they help Faerghus fight back? Obviously they want to weaken the Empire for more control, so it makes sense to side with Faerghus in part, but it's just a really condensed arc because it only lasts for one chapter.

This got a bit off topic BUT I wrote it anyway because it was relatively related. I just feel like there were better methods to write out the whole Edelgard and Agarthans thing, but they made CF a lot shorter than the other routes and effectively shot themselves in the foot by doing so with the story.

I feel like they did that with the chapter count because CF was supposed to be much more of a secret route, but since they made the conditions significantly easier by their own admission than they intended to originally, they gave themselves like what, five chapters less to work with the story? Makes it more convoluted than it could've been.

And yet, the lizard are just so BaD with their "non human-ess" that she always targets them first - because let's be real, in Nopes, she just kicks her uncle out of Enbarr, but doesn't make sure he's dead or his cult is dealt with, no, she returns to her top priority, make Fodlan a lizard-free world.

Part of her hatred against Nabateans must come from agarthan slithering in Adrestia since... uh, the moment Seiros left? and some of it might also be part of her growing up as an Adrestian Nobles, and being Big MaD (tm) that the stupid church let those barbarians get their own country 400 years ago :( Maybe her rac- specism comes from those two sources?

About Cornelia - in CF Rodrigue seems to work with her, but we have also to be reminded that in CF, Cornelia is still under cover and supposed to be the nice lady who cured the Kingdom - she can't pull all the things she does in the non CF routes or manipulate Rufus like she does in AG because Rhea (and her knights) is in Firdhiad! I personally thing she was mitigating her efforts - not actively helping the Kingdom, and having to prepare her Titanus army in secret because the second the capital, aka Dimitri hears about this, there's a possibility Rhea will know too, and the gig would be up (Rhea herself isn't that familiar with Titanus, but she most likely knows giant robots are either Nabatean, or Agarthan - coupled with Cornelia's permanent youth it could raise way too much suspicions).

Yep, I also think so regarding the chapter count! CF was supposed to be the bonus/bad end route so it'd make sense if it is shorter, but imo, also because the writers wrote themselves in a dead end - if Rhea has to be the main enemy because her ears are pointy, you can't suddenly throw Agarthans in the mix and for Supreme Leader to demolish them at first, and then taking Rhea's head because her ears are pointy!

They already wrote themselves in a bretzel knot with the "nu uh it was Rhea who launched those missiles trust me uwu" where even the CF writers couldn't possibly imagine that no characters would ever call doubts on her bullshit of the day - but imagine if the rest of the cast had to come clean with Flamey's association to Agarthans, what they did (hello war assets!) who they are and what they want?

I know CF operates on a "suspension of disbelief" level - but even at this point I think it would have been hard for the FE16 writers to make any sense of it.

Giving more screentime to Supreme Leader's association with Agarthans (especially since she believes she needs them to off Rhea, after all, she asks her Uncle to come and watch the final battle, so maybe she thought he could summon "reserve troops" if everything failed like what happens in the non-CF versions of the Assault in Garreg Mach?) would also means giving more spotlight to Flamey's actions during White Clouds, and we know FE16 is allergic to that.

So, in a nutshell, I think Supreme Leader targets the lizards before targetting Uncle'n'co because :

Both are non humans but pointy ears are even "less human" than Agarthans because pointy ears are "beasts"! (which would explain why in Nopes she immediately shifts her target on pointy ears after Thales is only "outed" of the Empire and not killed - bear in mind she targets Rhea when Thales is still alive, but in CF, killing Rhea is her top priority!)

She needs Uncle's help to target pointy ears (which doubles as horrifying if she counts on Thales'n'co's abilities to get rid of Nabateans because she checked their resume and/or they told her how they genocided them all save for half a dozen remaining ones)

Getting rid of Pointy Ears means she'll be able to MAGA (one of her main goals!) while getting rid of Thales won't bring her any step closer to unifying Fodlan under Adrestia's banner

She's more pissed at the Goddess not answering her prayers when she was being tortured than at the people torturing her themselves! (Thales lit says he gave her the CoF so she'll become their greatest weapon! So she knows the one who cut her open wasn't Aegir, or acting on Aegir's orders, but the mole men working with Thales!)

Granted, as you pointed out with the PoR comparison, if both are non humans, an usual "racist" human wouldn't want to side with either of them - Thales is a monster, Rhea is a beast, so who should she side with?

That's why I suppose she has some personal grudge against Nabateans (more personal than any grudge she can have against the one who butchered her and her own siblings!!) to make her hate them much more viciously than hating Agarthans. Is it because the Church recognised Faerghus' right to be independant? Or something else?

i still have my au/verse/hc where Emperor Willy named his half-nabatean son Lycaon as his heir, when he had other older fully-human children who felt like the half lizard stole their throne, and since then House Hresvelg harbours a deep resentment against nabateans, who are supposedly better than themselves (else why would Willy have picked his latest kid and not a human one???).

Ah, yeah that makes sense! So in a non-sexual sense, I think there could be small differences, and it's complicated partly due to different social perceptions of (trans+poly) bi men vs women in relationships. I'm thinking out loud below, though you may have thought through this already!

With Alex and Maggie (and this is mostly applicable if they're women, so excluding nb!Alex), there are ideas about What A Man Should Do In A Het Relationship. They don't believe in those, but it can affect how certain things feel - it's slightly different when Alex holds the door for Lucy compared to when she holds the door for Leon. Now, I don't think these things are a big enough deal that Leon cares, generally, but like. They're there, and sometimes he notices.

Being with another man can feel like there's less expectations for some things, which makes it easier to be more or less masc/submissive/dominant/etc as he feels like it, and in many different ways. But! That's not counting relationships where Leon is dating a man who is more or less traditionally masculine—that easily comes with similar assumptions about relationship dynamics. In that situation, it can be easier to feel emasculated and dysphoric, so I think Leon would care more about them both feeling affirmed/secure in their genders.. Which again might affect how and in what ways they act masc/submissive/dominant/etc, especially in public.

For those reasons, I think there could be certain stuff that Leon and his boyfriend would prefer to do or not do, which differ from Leon with Alex/Maggie. I don't have specific examples right now that I definitely headcanon, but like. It could definitely happen!

That said, I think Leon would want a relationship where this stuff isn't a big deal, since I'm into a genderfluid!Lucy who, while usually binary in gender, also really likes flexibility in expressing that. I just prefer him to be in relationships where he feels equally able to be more or less masc/sub/dom/etc! But again, I think it's complex, and the ways in which he expresses that masculinity etc could be different with different people, where their gender does kinda matter.

it feels so weird seeing cquackity content sometimes because while theres certainly a lot of people who do just genuinely care about the character due to his story it does feel like. the big perception of cquackity is a sharp nosed sharp jawed sharp toothed boney hips sexy dude that can be the angry poc either softened down by his white romantic prospect(s) or consistently harassed by them until he Gives In and Lets Them show him what love is supposedly like and yknow what

i kind of hate that! im not going to sit here and deny that cquackity isnt a character with relationships defined by their romantic aspects, he is. his descent into corruption is jumpstarted by his engagement to c!schlatt. his motivation for las nevadas was to make a place for his fiancés karl and sapnap and when he believes they forgot about him it sends him further into corruption. quite a lot of his relationship to c!wilbur is influenced by cwilburs crush on him (whether its returned or not)

but. he still shouldnt be reduced to these relationships, especially when he has so many others that arent romantic in nature. theres a vague habit of his relationships that are platonic in nature (especially ones that cant be turned into shipping like tubbo and quackity) getting either ignored unless youre focused on the other character in the duo (how many of you know/remember sam and quackity were close friends before everything that happened during the prison arc to the point of them being seen as father/son) or unless its turned into. well. shipping anyways (cough. him and charlie)

this isnt to say i think theres like. something morally wrong with shipping cquackity but rather just like. man he really gets put into hot angry mexican character whose hardly seen as a person unless theyre in a relationship or are being violent territory a lot. and its not as if these aspects arent touched on in his story, he literally has a strip club, he tortured dream, he very much so does have quite a few romantic prospects that effect his story. but iunno theres a lot more to explore than just those aspects and i also just generally think if the fandom would learn how to depict mexican people without sexualizing them that would be nice

Thing is, it's not like they're polar opposites. They're both nerds, they both like political intrigue, they're both driven, they're both talkers but also just awkward messes, and if things went differently they might have actually gotten along. However, they really don't fdhslfdhk.

There is some mutual respect, and they're civil enough when interacting, but mostly they're just pretending to ignore the other lolol. Again, both of them are driven, but they each think the other is being way too stubborn and self-righteous about their opinions and methods. Solas is obviously very secretive and trust is important to Ari, so that alone is already a dealbreaker. He would respect Solas for his (supposed) knowledge, IF their conversations wouldn't, 9/10 times, be variations of "You're wrong" - "Care to elaborate?" - "No.", which drives him crazy. And this kind of goes both ways lol, cos on the other side Solas is constantly frustrated with how Ari does things, made worse by the fact that Solas has Opinions TM but Ari will Not take Solas's input on most things seriously because he is petty like that. Which, btw, he is pretty much only like that with Solas specifically.

So yea, if anything, they act like a divorced couple xD They're too similar in exactly the ways that make them clash, but i will say it is very fun to watch the petty passive aggressive quarrels these two have lmao

Thank you for your thoughts on the latest episode! I thought I was going mad not seeing what others were seeing.. cause I didn't see Buck breaking Eddie's heart. All he said was that Natalie sees him as he is now, not the 'same old Buck'. He wasn't saying Eddie doesn't see him... seems like everyone wants it to be about Buck's breaking Eddie's heart on purpose... because that means 'sad pining Eddie era' Anyway, sorry for rambling, was really just wanting to say thank you for your take on the episode and that scene!

my thoughts and feelings have been a little all over the place since that episode lol I honestly haven't even been sure the things I've been posting have made sense 😂

I do think that Eddie has been pining for a while, plus that last ep had such strong lonely vibes for him, and I think he's feeling a little heartbroken after that conversation in the cemetery, but Buck breaking his heart on purpose?? no. and I don't think Eddie believes that either. I'm guessing you read my post here, but you might not have seen my tag rambling on this one too?

I've been saying for a while that Buck's greatest obstacle to happiness is himself. and it's true for Eddie too—he's always put Christopher's happiness first and struggled with letting himself be happy on his own terms too—but now we're at a point where Eddie has put in the hard work to accept that he deserves to be happy, he wants to be happy for himself, he knows Buck is a big part of that happiness, he just... isn't sure that he's enough for Buck to be happy. has Buck said that? no. and watching them it's so clear they make each other happy, but I think Eddie came out of that conversation at the cemetery feeling like he hasn't been enough, that maybe he isn't what Buck needs right now, and I think a lot of his feelings there are tied up in both his own insecurities and self-reflection, not necessarily how he thinks Buck feels about him.

the lightning strike hit them both hard, there's no doubt about that. Buck died and Eddie saw him die, they both have to heal from that trauma. I just don't think they've figured out how to do that together yet. Eddie has been offering help, but Buck hasn't been asking for it. Buck feels like he needs to search to find answers while Eddie has been standing solidly by his side the whole time.

Buck wants Natalia to be someone who can give him answers about his death, about how to move on after it, but that's not what a death doula does, right? they provide support to help people accept and prepare for their death. idk if Natalia will help with that, but I do know that Buck hasn't really accepted his death yet. he hasn't figured out how he feels about it, he hasn't faced it (Buck repression era lol), and until that happens, he's not going to be able to heal and move forward. and I think he'll find that when he is ready to move forward—really ready not just wanting to gloss over it all—Eddie will be right where he's always been by his side.
