been thinking about chronicling my depression for a while, guess there's no time like the present to start. no idea what this will be like in the future and i'm not pressuring myself to Write Good for this bcus frankly. No ♥️

i have been chronically depressed for about as long as i can remember but it’s been particularly bad this year since i graduated uni. haven’t found a job and am also unsure of my ability to work so i volunteer at a charity bookshop to try and give myself something to do as well as build up experience. it’s p boring but i love books so i can forgive it. a lot of my shifts are pricing books and seeing if i can fit them onto the shelves (this can be a real battle). crime and thriller is the bane of my existence because they’re overflowing. there are so many crime/thriller books. Help

today i decided to rearrange the romance section because i noticed a lot of the books had been out for a while and hadn’t sold. you learn a lot about a genre when you’re shelving it. romance is a very colourful genre

i also learned that it’s REALLY hard to tell the difference between romance and cosy women’s fiction because they both look very cosy and have colourful and sweet book spines

after my pretty low-key shift, i bought some books (a really cute book of poe poetry, i’ll be gone in the dark, and the life changing magic of tidying up because i am a Messy Bitch) and met my dad to go to ANOTHER bookshop where i had a click and collect to pick up

often i feel really guilty for buying so many books at our shop when i don’t even have an income but i really liked all of today’s finds so it didn’t feel so bad. sometimes i buy books and just wonder what i was thinking

then we went to a bakery and i got a brownie and a cookie/brownie combo which i shall have later and UGH YOU GUYS THIS BROWNIE

unspeakable joy. delicious. yum. 10/10 cured my soul. so tasty. the world can be hard but it’s all worth it when i get to have some Baking

i headed home after a bit – my dad’s cat, who is going deaf and is very sweet and wants cuddles ALL THE TIME loves plastic bags so spent most of the time licking my bag – and the bus came quickly and got me home quickly. i’m used to bus delays and getting stuck in traffic so i liked that a lot. Zoom

if you’re outside of the uk, then here’s a little bit of context: our postal service, royal mail, is striking throughout december. this means that not only are strike dates affected, but mail is piling up and they have so much to deliver already this month because of christmas post. so there are ofc postal delays! and about 3 weeks ago i ordered a wee colouring book on etsy by an artist called lilmeep. i got their first colouring book for my birthday in the summer and loved it a lot and sent the friend who bought it updates and showed her all my finished pages. so i’ve been waiting for this second book to get here.

i knew there were going to be delays, but i started getting worried that maybe it got lost as it dragged into the 2 weeks since posting mark. i really wanted my new colouring book, i was so excited, when was it going to arrive? and earlier today, as we were into my third week of waiting, i wondered if i should shoot the artist a message next week letting them know that it hadn’t arrived yet jic it had been lost or smthin.

and i got home and went into my bedroom and

so yeah. i was just reflecting on how even though my brain is a shitbag and things have been really hard and it’s fuckin COLD and SAD outside, i got to enjoy these moments of colour and joy today. sadness and tiredness still leak into my day, but i was able to find these moments to enjoy, to get all these things i had been looking forward to, to spend time with my dad and his silly little plastic bag loving cat ... joy exists, joy remains, you can still find it

im sorry but this is a bit related to your studies.. have you ever feel like quitting it? or maybe having second thoughts about your course? if so how do you fight that urge/mindset? because recently ive been having those kinds of thoughts like "why did i pick this course? i could have just pick something like culinary or pastry or anything hands on"

oh boy have i ever 😭😭 you are not alone in feeling this way at all! the amount of pressure that is put on people our age to know wtf we want to do with the rest of our lives is insane. i remember that during my freshman orientation in high school, some lady popped up and started talking to us about figuring out our college choices/what we wanted to major in. like ma'am i can't even legally drive a car yet please calm down.

something important to note is that our frontal lobes (the area that, among other things, is associated with organization and planning, especially in the long-term), doesn't even finish developing until we're about 25. you will continue to improve in decision making/planning as you age and gain more experience. so even if you feel overwhelmed now, there is definite hope for the future. that's not to say the second the clock hits midnight on your 25th birthday your third eye will open and you'll automatically know what trajectory to set your life on, but i think this is important to take into consideration. your brain is still downloading! 

okay okay. neuroscience part over. this is part is all my personal conjecture.

first and foremost: what you’re experiencing is perfectly normal. in my case, i went from wanting to be apart of the journalism field, to having my heart set on script writing, then shifting that over to general creative writing, then shifting AGAIN to psychology, then once more to criminal psychology. where i am for the moment . even now i’m like what do i do ?? correctional counseling in prison systems? counseling specifically for traumatized women? working at human trafficking safehouses or sticking to volunteering ????? idk. life is confusing. 

i wouldn’t shoo those thoughts away or try to burry them, instead, i’d try maybe reframing it? like, if you try this class out and decide that it isn’t for you, that’s okay, there is still value to be gleaned from the experience. that’s how i would challenge myself to look at it at least. for example, i was tilted when i learned i needed to take math classes in college when my goal is to help people . not use the pythagorean theorem or w/e. then my academic advisor pointed out that statistics is important for psychology, since in academic papers/journals, numerical data is often present. you gotta be able to make sense of that stuff. when i looked at it from that point of view, i was slightly less tilted. at least enough to stop huffing about it. 

tl;dr: don’t beat yourself up for feeling confused over if the path you’re set on is right/wrong. there’s value to be found in every learning experience. besides, it’s not so much a “path” that you’re carving out for yourself than a stepping stone that can change direction. you’re not softlocked into any single, designated role. i’ve had friends change majors 3-4 years down the line.  

i hope this mess of a response was able to serve as some encouragement to you HJEKTGMR i’m very passionate about this problem since i myself have suffered from it and i know many people who have too . i’m wishing you the best of luck!

i don’t have too much of an opinion on it, to be completely honest. im pretty particular about what i like reading though, so if their writing styles differ too much i won’t be able to enjoy it really.

with that being said, i give lots of props to those who actually collab w others bc im so picky abt my writing and have extremely specific ideas and if details aren’t described exactly how i imagined it in my head it causes me so much anxiety and distaste for it and askfhaskjfhasfkja. so it must really be difficult and i rly respect those are able to achieve that type of teamwork i could never tbh

r: are there any writers (fanfic or otherwise) you consider an influence?

the first writer that comes to mind is tahereh mafi. i know her style is def not for everyone and neither is mine so sajkfhaskjf. feelinggenious on wattpad actually wrote a post about why they don’t like her style and expressed the reason being is that its “written in a chaotic, hallucinating-ish, journal style that’s oozing and overflowing of metaphors” and that ppl may find its a “lump of metaphors and horrid imagery” n binch thats exactly why i aspire to be on her level someday asfjhsfjhasfk. but i love it so much tho!! and thats exactly how i would want mine to be described as tbh

another person that stands out is tabitha suzuma. i’ve only read one book by her, but i remember ppl on goodreads reviewing it and saying its like 418 pages of poetry. she brings out so so so much emotion and all of her characters (even the younger children) are so three dimensional and they honestly felt like real people to me. the story is so so traumatic and hard to read, but i, at least, went thru so so so many strong emotions and sadness and happiness throughout the entire book. not many writers can do that to me and i admire her so so so so much. she took an extremely taboo subject and made it so you actually feel for the characters involved. i wont mention the book due to reasons but if anyone is interested u can message me or w/e!! 

and lastly, i mention her literally every moment of my life and she really is my biggest muse ??? i guess but its nicole dollanganger. she a songwriter which is technically a writer so i think she counts. not many ppl have heard of her bc she basically just came from bandcamp. but she’s been described as being like lana del rey but with way scarier and more horrific lyrics. i listen to a lot of her songs when i write to keep me going tbh. but i wouldnt rec her music to anyone who can be triggered by v*ol*nce and etc!! so keep that in mind

Her determination was another thing that was greatly admired about her to her peers. She was going to make an amazing hero. A legend. Everyone knew it..

 “Midoriya!” Ochako chimed, waving her hand in search of Izuku’s attention. The boy snapped his head up that was once dug deep into his journal. “Yes!” He exclaimed, slamming his journal shut, in which made a sharp slapping sound. “You were so into writing, i didn't think i was ever going to get your attention,” She smiled, in a chagrined manner. Izuku chuckled, in a forced-like response because he couldn't find any words to say, as his eyes awkwardly shifted to the other students across the room, surrounding (Y/N)’s desk, asking her questions.

   “Amazing! That really happened to you? How did you even make it out alive?” “You weren't scared?” “Ah- if that were me i would have ran away and gotten help!” Questions were being thrown to her like there was no tomorrow, but this was an often occurrence, especially after she finishes explaining yet another one of her adventurous stories. “You are quite brave, (Y/N).” Todoroki nodded to her, which made Izuku flinch in reaction. Ochako tilted her head questioningly, and turned around, only to see what Izuku winced at. She sighed once she connected the dots- (Y/N).

 “She's never going to notice you if you only stare at her from the distance!” She exclaimed, crossing her arms firmly. “W-what!” Izuku jumped at her statement, responding a little bit too loudly. The class drew silent, and peered their heads into Izuku’s direction, his cheeks grew into a reddish cherry shade, and he slowly sunk into his desk in embarrassment. Quickly after, everyone proceeded with whatever it was they were doing. Izuku chucked his head in Ochako’s direction, whispering sharply, “What did you mean by that!” he questioned, loud enough for only her to hear. She giggled, covering her mouth, “It's so obvious! Seriously!” she continued to giggle, in a friendly manner. “T-tell me!” Izuku whined, pleading her by shaking her hand. “(Y/N)! I mean (Y/N).” She whispered in his ear, covering her mouth with her hand to prevent anyone from reading her lips. “Eh? What about her!” He jumped, once again. Ochako cocked her brow, giving him a smug smile. “You're being w-weird. I don’t even know her that well.” He slouched, turning his head in your direction.

“I can help you talk her if you want!” She happily implied, leaning closer to the embarrassed, flustered boy. “You'll what?” He tilted his head, in confusion. Help him.. as in, talk to (Y/N)? There was no way he could agree to such a thing. If he wanted, he could easily muster up his own courage and talk to (Y/N) himself, but he knows that he would be a stuttering mess, and only leave himself in more embarrassment than he already is in. “I could..” Ochako furrowed her eyebrows, and tapped her chin lightly with her index finger, figuring out a way to help Izuku strike up a conversation with (Y/N).

“I could ‘accidently’ bump into her! Knocking out her notebooks out of her arms! And then you come in, and help her pick them up! And then you save the day and ask her how her day is going! Ask her if you want to go grab a bite with her..” She beamed, continuing explaining the possible series of events that could occur if only Izuku would agree to do so.

Izuku scratched the nape of his neck, “Ochak-” he started, only to be interrupted. “I got it!” Ochako pointed to him, “This weekend, i could invite (Y/N), you, and a few others to my house and have a ‘study date’, and you could get to know (Y/N) more!” She excitedly clapped her hands, feeling quite astonished and accomplished with herself for coming up with such a genius plan. “I-i’m not sure about this, Ochako-” He nervously waved his hand, attempting to shut down her idea, but was once again, interrupted, yet this time he was interrupted by a nosey Kirishima, “Study date?” He questioned, “Mind if I join? I've really got to get my ducks in a row before the final exams! This could really help me!” Kirishima pleaded, as Ochako rubbed her elbow, eventually giving into the redhead’s plee. “Yeah, sure..” She nodded, giving Kirishima a thumbs up.

“Hey, did someone say ‘Study date?’” Mina turned her attention from (Y/N) to Kirishima, as Kirishima nodded vigorously. “Gravity girl is having a study date at her place this weekend!” He announced. Izuku- once again sank into his desk. There’s no way i’m getting out of this one, he mentally  complained to himself. “Yes!” Ochako gleamed. “You're all welcomed, if you'd like! These exams aren't going to be easy.” She nodded firmly to Ochako, whose face was beaming with joy. “Y-yes! See you then!” Ochako waved, immediately facing Izuku after their encounter. “Now you have to come! She's definitely going to be there!” Ochako whispered to Izuku, who was completely at a loss for words. “Can we talk! Privately!” Izuku sharply questioned the overly excited girl.

The pair walked outside of the classroom, before Izuku could even speak, Ochako immediately began, “Don't worry about it, Midoriya! It's just a study date! You don't have to do anything you're uncomfortable with.” She patted his left shoulder. He sighed in relief. “I know you're trying to help me with (Y/N), but it's not that simple- And! I really appreciate your help! I do!” He exclaimed, as his face fell into a frown. “It's...impossible for her to be into someone like me, though.” He muttered, dipping his head in embarrassment. “You haven't given it a chance!” The girl stated. “You never know, (Y/N) could find you really cute!-” She explained a little too loudly.

From the corner of the hallway, Bakugo approached the pair, walking towards them only to enter his classroom.

“K-Kacchan!” Izuku nearly screamed, realizing the spikey-blonde headed boy may have heard everything he and Ochako were talking about.

“(Y/N), eh?” Bakugo lifted his chin, only to reveal a deathly grin. “Where did you even come from?!” Ochako questioned, clenching her fists. She was not about to put up with Bakugo and his child-like antics.

“I had to take a piss.” He replied bluntly, turning his head back to Izuku’s direction, who was trembling at this point. “And you're right, Deku. It is impossible for a girl like (Y/N) to ever be into someone like you.” Bakugo leaned into Izuku’s face, giving him a long, cold stare. “Just drop whatever fantasies you have about her. It's pathetic.” Bakugo turned his head to Ochako, tilting his head and began to chuckle. “And you're in on this? Helping this dumbass get with a girl who's clearly way out of his league!” He shook his head, slowly walking back into his classroom.

“You're wrong!” Izuku shouted, surprising himself. He was used to Kacchan’s hurtful words, his childish banter. But.. this was different. Kacchan was talking about a girl Izuku had strong feelings for. Even though Izuku would never admit it. Even though they’ve hardly spoken in the past. Izuku- being an extremely observant person, has gotten to know (Y/N) through her mannerisms, the way she acts around others, and with herself, by just observing her throughout the long hours of class.

Bakugo snapped his head in surprise, due to Midoriya’s unusual back talk.

The ash-blonde boy towered over Izuku, attempting to threaten Izuku with their height difference.

“G-get away from him!” Ochako yelled, in helpless attempt to break whatever conflict that was going on between the two.

“What was that? Huh, Deku?” Bakugo’s voice was the deepest it's ever been. Izuku stepped a few feet behind him, trying to give himself space.

Izuku stayed silent, just to avoid getting pushed or punched in the jaw from the boy hovering over him. He looked up at Kacchan with his chin dipped to his chest, Izuku opened his mouth to explain himself.

“That's what i thought.” Bakugo spat. He turned around and walked inside of the classroom, giving a ‘tsk’ sound, before he rolled his eyes and entered the room.

Ochako and Izuku fell silent. They didn't even know what to say to each other at that point. Bakugo simply left them at a loss for words due to his harsh words.

Izuku looked up at Ochako, who was already staring at Izuku, with a tense and concerned expression on her face.

“I-” Ochako begun, holding her hands together tightly behind her back.

“This is stupid. I knew this whole idea would be stupid.” Izuku stated, his heart sinking as he realised Ochako lightly winced at his words.

“No! N-Not you! I mean.. Bakugo. He.. sure knows how to tear my confidence.” Izuku tried to lighten the mood by chuckling at his last remark, which wasn't intended to be funny at all.

“We'll show him! Once you win (Y/N) over! He'll regret he ever said those mean words to you!” Ochako gripped Izuku’s shoulders, which took him by surprise. He only gave her a firm nod, not wanting to speak any further on the matter.

“We should go back in. Before Aizawa notices were gone..” Izuku stated, opening the door slowly for Ochako to enter before him. “Yeah.” The girl nodded, walking into the classroom.

The words that Bakugo spat at Izuku couldn't stop replaying through his head.

She would never be into someone like you.

Izuku was already aware of the fact it was impossible for him to win over you. This was old news to him. However, for Izuku to listen to someone verbally say it to his face like that broke him. His heart sank deeper and deeper for each time he replayed those words through his brain. He knew Ochako was just trying to be a good friend, and encourage him to speak to you, but he couldn't help to feel annoyed with the whole idea of even trying to talk to you. Bakugo was right. She would never be into someone like me. Why even attempt? It would be useless. But, because he knew deep down Ochako went through the trouble of inviting their classmates over to her home for a ‘study date’, Izuku felt obliged to at least attend that. After all, she did say he didn't have to do anything he was uncomfortable with, and after all, they are just studying. That was the only reason (Y/N) was going to Ochako’s house in the first place. Nothing more or nothing less. A study date.

so something (refer to the song he said suits myday) happened with jae recently and ive seen fans trying to defend him by @ing him and saying that they love him which is fine - great even! but what i dont approve is how everyone’s basically forgotten about the whole matter because they had concerts so instead of @-ing him and asking him to explain himself, they tell him what a great concert it was which is also great bc their concerts are honestly amazing. basically my pet peeve is when ppl dismiss the problematic action of some people just bc they like them.

another thing is that there were some fans who started guilting others for wanting to drop day6 completely because of what jae did and in my opinion i think it is totally cool to want to drop a group if they did smth bad like??? its ur life???? u can choose who you want to like. what is not cool is pulling out all the good things the person has ever done in their entire life and try to remind others about the positive sides of the person. yes. they’re an encouraging person, etc. but that does not cancel out the bad things they’ve done until they explain/apologise. what is infuriating is just the manner some people took it?? they literally went ahead and tweeted shit like “would your parents drop you if you did smth wrong?” and “you’re seriously gonna drop someone whos been nothing been nice because of one incident?” yes. people will and you dont have any fucking right to stop them? so dont go pulling out receipts.

careers i considered for a hot minute in the past include therapist, set designer, freelance typologist, social media manager, and foley enigneer. all of them would probably end up being something i hated after i actually dedicated my life to it XD

i have type 2b-3a curls depending on the weather and how much they hate me that day and use the curly girl method (well a variation of it) on my hair. regardless of everything i’ve ever done its still always frizzy bc thas my natural hair type- loose wave curls with random rly tight curls that are always frizzy and dont do anything i want. i console myself by telling myself it looks a lil but like lorde’s hair and ppl like her............
