okay, but like.

i have not been able to stop thinking about how being trans works as a gerudo. bc i hate myself apparently.

like i don't think they count trans masc people as the "once in a thousand years" thing, bc it isn't mentioned. so i think being born "male" is a biological sex assigned at birth thing. but if the amab person transitions, then i think they just act like it never happened (yes this justifies a headcanon of mine, what of it).

so maybe they just have to leave town when they come out. which is tragic in its own way, and would be an interesting conflict to explore. like they'd never see their family again unless they leave town to visit. or they'd have to dress up in drag, or not be out to most of town except for a select few (obviously the voe clothing store is a safe space, and its how she makes money making them despite being in a heavily guarded city).

then the dreaded question arises: why don't we see any non femme presenting gerudo anywhere, in or out of town?

it could be that the game just isn't showing us them, sorta like the completely new characters (pelican man, sidon's fiance, josha, etc.) weren't anywhere to be found in botw.

also honestly nintendo are just cowards when in comes to representing minority groups with tact, especially in zelda and especially the gerudo.

so though it isn't explicitly anywhere in the game, i believe trans people are in it, until (but tbh even after bc aforementioned cowardice) they flat out say otherwise.

my current headcanons of characters we do see are:

nonbinary josha (all pronouns)

trans woman riju (it's been a thousand years, she could've been amab)

trans masc link (he/they) don't tell me some magic and/or ancient tech shit couldn't get rid of top surgery scars. also idk he's just got the vibe iykyk.

Okay idk how to format this as a title, so I'll cut to the chase. I have a bit of a crush on one of my former coworkers (we're both in our early 20's) and even if I weren't attracted to them I still wanted to keep in touch as like friends because we had a lot of similar interests and I enjoyed talking to them. So on their last week I made a card for them in CSP with a D&D character they had mentioned to me once in a conversation. I gave them several ways to contact me but also stressed that I didn't want them to feel obligated but like if they wanted to talk I'd also like to keep in touch and even included the contact info on a separate paper just so that it wouldn't sour the card itself but they did specifically say we could keep in touch. Then they mentioned that they have the most recent pokemon game and it turns out that they have the version that I don't have, and I mentioned, "hey maybe we could trade pokemon" because I had gotten really lucky with surprise trades and only needed two version exclusives from the other game to complete the dex, so on their last day I gave them my Nintendo friend code and discord and they seemed like they were cool with it. Anyways I had told my friends about this to help make me accountable for going through with the card thing because I'm a bit of a coward ngl, especially when there's a very low chance for success, and they asked me who it was so I told them, and then they found said coworkers instagram (no clue how) and I followed said coworker on instagram where I do say my like actual name and stuff (I only really use it for posting my art). And like I sent them 3 messages a week apart each time, it was just memes that I thought they'd find funny because I'm bad at breaking the ice (socially inept) and they hadn't contacted me first. But I'm looking back at this and thinking "Wow that's fucking creepy of you what is wrong with you". And idk, just looking to see if my actions were creepy or not.

This is honestly the worst timeline. Ganondorf and the Gerudo are still given zero respect by the cowards that handle them, caricatures are being used more often again outside of nintendy, Gaza is a shitstorm, Hamas is a thing that exists, the actions of Hamas is being treated as a justification for public genocide... can we just not have a dogshit year?

I know this is the last thing you mentioned but it is the first thing I will address, and that is Hamas. Hamas would not be a "thing" that exists if it weren't for Israel. The plight of the Palestinian people has been exposed in the most brutal of fashions because of Israel's declaration of war on Hamas. However, even if the October 7th attacks did not happen, did you think the Palestinians were living in peace? Gaza was already under a military blockade from Israel and Egypt for over a decade; it is almost impossible to leave Gaza. If you enter Gaza to visit family, it is a roll of the dice whether you will ever be allowed to leave again or not, even if you hold a powerful passport, like an American or European one. Drones continuously patrol Gaza's skies, the sound dubbed "Zanana" by residents of Gaza as it is continuous. Israel indiscriminately bombs Gaza whenever they suspect a "Hamas terrorist" is there. Did you know that Israel bombed and effectively shut down the only airport in the Gaza strip. That ensures that anyone who wishes to go to Gaza has to pass through Israel first. This blockade and restriction of movement has caused economic hardship in Gaza as unemployment rates were high.

In the West Bank, Palestinians have to pass through military checkpoints every single day to go to school, to work, to their house. They constantly face the threat of Israeli settlers taking their land and homes. There are streets that they are not allowed to use, and will be shot at if they find themselves on them. Oh, and of course in both areas they arrest anybody for the smallest slight. A child throwing a rock or suspected of having a knife will be arrested and jailed for an indefinite amount of time. Often, children will be tried in military courts. Is Hamas the problem? Or is the continuous oppression of the Israeli Zionist state aggravating the people to fight back? Would you not fight back if you lived under constant oppression, where your brother or sister or mother or father or cousin could be arbitrarily arrested, or simply executed on the spot for no reason? Would you not fight back if your home could be taken from you at any moment and given to someone who showed up a couple of months ago claiming ancestral right to your home? As for your other points, I don't have much faith in Nintendo taking any meaningful approach to repairing the way they write the Gerudo and Ganondorf. They came close with FSA before walking several steps back in BotW. What I would like is for people to be aware of how the story is framed and to be critical of them using such framing in the pursuit of simple storytelling. I know a lot of people want to talk about all the Japanese influences that can be found in Hyrule and the Hylians, The Sheikah, the Zonai, TotK Ganondorf's design etc. However, the fact that people cannot see how Hyrule, the kingdom claiming divine right to the land, having conflict with a man from the desert who refused to bow to them and considered him evil for it does not reflect what we see in real life is troubling to me.

i just wish i could like browse my menu or check my map or something WHILE MOVING...in other cases i would be livid if the game kept going while i was "paused" but i hate that fooling around makes the game's clock stop so if you're say waiting ten minutes for the dragojn to glow again you really do just have to wait

also. i never noticed glowing or lackthereof when the dragons were ready again. i may be unobservant lol
