bts (ot7 but bias yoongi) - fave choreos: run bts, dna, not today, idol, mic drop, dionysus, best of me, boy with luv, on, black swan, dynamite, airplane pt 2, save me/im fine, fake love, fire

seventeen (bias vernon, seungcheol, mingyu, and dk) - fave choreos: aju nice, hot, rock with you, cheers, _world, left and right, don quixote, super, fire, idubily

stray kids (bias han) - fave choreos: thunderous, domino, lalalala, maniac, back door, gods menu, easy

ateez (bias wooyoung and mingi) fave choreos - say my name, halazia, bouncy, crazy form, cyberpunk, deja vu, illusion

other groups i listen to more casually + am less familiar with are the rose (no bias and no choreo so can’t put them in the above list), txt (maybe bias yeonjun?), enhypen (bias sunghoon), nct (bias xiaojun, mark, jaehyun, and taeyong), g-idle (bias yuqi), twice (bias jihyo and dahyun)

I guess as a brief introduction I do some bullet points and then give you some songs to check out!

They go by TVXQ for the most part, but you'll also see their Japanese name, Tohoshinki, and their Korean name Dong Bang Shin Ki (DBSK). All translate to roughly Rising Gods of the East.

They debuted in 2003 as a 5 member group, and 3 of them left in 2010. Anything from before 2010 you come across will have the 5 voices. Yunho and Changmin stayed as TVXQ and "re-debuted" in 2011.

Personally I think it is totally worth it to listen to the old stuff. I don't think there ever was and ever will be a phenomenon like TVXQ/DBSK as a group of 5, and their korean and japanese songs and ballads are mind blowing.

That being said, I stuck with Yunho and Changmin more than the others after college (funnily I was introduced to them just as they were breaking up), and consider them to be the true TVXQ. They worked insanely hard to make TVXQ theirs and their vocals and talent have grown so, so much to fill in the voices that left.

So some song recs! I'll stick to the Korean songs for now, but their Japanese catalogue is NUTS. I think at this point they have more Japanese songs tbh.

If that's not for you, any of the live performances are stellar) Vuja De (this one has scenes from his longer NEXUS mini film which I also recommend. It samples all the songs from that particular album)

3 Changmin Solos:

Chocolate (he can cut it out, quite frankly) Maniac (so theatrical, so musical, so AHHH. I think this is my fave of his solos) Fever (I lost my ever loving mind when I saw this for the first time. Face clutching ensued.)

Picking 3 for each of them was incredibly difficult omg. I'm excited for your thoughts! Completely understandable if you don't go through all of them, but these are some personal faves.

Finally, they just did a Killing Voice episode where they do a half hour medley of a ton of songs if you prefer to sample them that way! This is where the mirotic clip I reblogged is from :D

Their new album just came out and is called 20&2 if you want to take a listen. It's their first Korean comeback is 2018 so we've all been feral lately.

⟢ he was finally, finally coming home after a long assignment.

⟢ a week away from you was a week wasted, so he made damn sure he would get back to you as soon as possible. which is why he was unlocking the door to your studio apartment a day earlier than planned.

⟢ kurogiri would rip him a new one later, but he couldn’t be bothered to care.

⟢ the door opening couldn’t beat the music blasting, the smell floating from the kitchen leading him to you.

⟢ were you expecting him? of course not, that was the whole point. what he didn’t expect was you dancing in the kitchen along to the kbs song festival rerun playing on the tv.

Hi, I’ve been a casual listener of sf9 for a while and was thinking about getting more into them. I know who all the members are but I was wondering if you could tell me a little more about them to get to know them better?

my time has COME 😱😍

dear anon, I’ll happily do exactly that (I also have a guide from rpm era which you can find here - there’s info on all the individual members as well as video recs!)

I’m guessing you already know their ages/positions (if not, check the guide!), so I’ll mostly concentrate on their characters - let’s begin, shall we?

Youngbin: our warm-hearted leader. extremely fond of all his members and loves us fantasy so much. feels very comfortable around us and is always very open during his bin’us lives (the name of his weekly vlives). has literally the cutest giggle and also laughs a lot (has literal laughing fits all the time). sometimes a bit clueless but he’s just so cute, so it’s okay. just super charismatic on stage and a giant fluff-ball off stage!

Inseong: our brain of the group. is really super smart (currently pursuing his masters degree!) yet also somehow super dumb. has the weirdest ideas like pretending to be a tomato or rock on his bubble. he literally lives to make people laugh and to make everyone feel comfortable around him. he’s very outgoing yet also somehow super awkward? the secondhand-embarrassment is always very real with him. has recently been cast in two different web/kdramas and a musical!

Jaeyoon: our super squishy honey voiced boy. lives and breathes in “cute” but is also super lethal on stage (likes to show off and teases fantasy more often than not). often tries out diys/crafts during his vlives (gardening, making bracelets, cooking, baking etc.) - wants to let us know he’s always there for us with those lives (his own words, not mine). takes special care of the younger members, those are his babies. just genuinely one of the nicest people on this planet. wiggles when he‘s excited.

Dawon: our bundle of utter chaos. he’s loud, chaotic and loves to tease the other members. but at the same time he’s also super thoughtful and soft.  incredibly talented and an all-rounder, truly just super funny. he literally never stops talking and you can’t make him. he’s just full of life and joy and likes to make others laugh. also has his own vlive show called “bingsu” where he often eats different kinds of food and just talks to us. has recently been cast in his first kdrama! 

Zuho: our soft cat dad. he looks intimidating because his face is all edges and angles, but he’s honestly super soft. gets scared easily, giggles a lot and is a social butterfly (friends with many idols!). he writes and produces own songs, some make it onto sf9′s albums, some he publishes on his soundcloud or on sf9′s youtube channel! loves his two cats more than life and is very proud of them, sometimes shows them during his vlives. recently starred in his first webdrama!

Rowoon: our gentle giant tree. obviously very handsome, yes, but also just such a sweet and polite boy. is super dedicated and hard-working, would do literally anything for his members. always lets people know he’s part of sf9 as he’s very popular and well-known on his own as an actor and model. likes skin ship, especially when it comes to chani. always makes sure everyone around him is okay and looked after. very cute giggle. can’t drive, ran over a red light once. 

Taeyang: our sunshine personified. his smile does more for society than any politician ever could. quite shy and more reserved at first, but can also get quite chaotic and loud. gets teased a lot but also teases back, he’s more savage than you’d think. THE biggest exo-l and loves doing dance covers. also comes up with own choreographies (came up with a choreo for their song blank). doesn’t know what’s going on 24/7, is truly just extremely clueless and needs to be told everything twice (or even more often). 

Hwiyoung: our certified baby boy. the second he smiles, your heart will be his. extremely cute without even trying. chani and he are two pretty best friends even though they always bicker. writes his own songs and releases them on soundcloud (even wrote one about his cat). he’s interested in fashion and likes to wear accessories. his long hair will forever remain iconic. very wise and philosophical, especially for his age! currently starring in the second season of the kdrama mermaid prince! 

Chani: our tired maknae. he looks innocent with his big eyes and soft face, but don’t be fooled - he’s evil. always teases his hyungs, never ever answers any of their texts. he’s an incredibly talented and dedicated actor (once began licking his lips 2 weeks before his 9secs long prison scene to make them look more dry and chapped). he’s definitely a maknae on top, gets spoiled by all his hyungs, no one can ever be mad at him. not big on skin ship and always tries (and fails) to avoid rowoon because of that.

Age: I’m old enough to own a Sega Genesis bought in a store the year it was released, and yes. I still play it. 

Location: Northern Italy for the time being, but I’m prone to moving quite bit. 

Any other languages aside from English people can contact you in?: I can do some conversational Spanish, and I can have Eric (my husband) tell me what you’re saying in Russian.

Favourite Riverdale characters and ships?: What gave you the impression that I like Riverdale or its ships? JK. Shockingly, I’m all about that Bughead. ALL about it. I care about most of the characters & their successes/failures… with Betty, Jughead, Veronica & Cheryl in the lead. 

Favourite moments from S1 & S2?: Wow. Talk about a Sophie’s Choice. Here goes nothing. I legit yelled at my screen during The Look in 1x02, “omG. IT’S HAPPENING.” My childhood ship was exhumed. Best day. The dynamic between Jughead & FP in 1x07 rang particularly true to me. I also took away that Jughead talks about Jellybean like she’s his kid, not his sister. It guts me every single time. The end bit where Betty & Jughead walk away together really demonstrated how close they already were as a couple. Bonus for that being the scene where it clicks with Archie his two best friends were 5000% together, & their friendships was never going to be the same. It’s a small moment but I love it. Picking one thing from Season 2??? Co-Presidents. The absolute equality in their relationship was so perfectly on point here for me. The support and respect for one another was on display in blinking neon lights. WAIT. The hospital scene. I can’t leave it off. Jughead “I’ll never stop loving you” Jones almost gets murdered & only feels bad about not being there for Betty. All that matters to Betty is Jughead getting better. Plus, down-the-face kisses. I can’t with these two. 

What are your hopes for S3?: I’m really hoping to see more of a focus on the friendships. I want to see them all work together in general & specifically, to defeat Hiram. We got to see an entire season of Hiram doing nothing but succeeding in his various nefarious causes & successfully pitting Bughead/Varchie against one another. Seeing his takedown at the hands of those whose lives & relationships he thought destroyed as they’re instead working together? Yes. Very yes. I’m of course beyond stoked for the Bughead Detective Agency & them working/growing together in their relationship & lives. Some actual fun times would be great to see. Yano, ones that don’t end in someone getting murdered or going to jail.

Other fandoms you’re into?: Besides Riverdale, I only exist in lurker status (thanks anxiety!) for fandoms, but I lurk(ed) super hard in Harry Potter (Except that I’ve totally written terrible HP fic. Really happy no one’s going to read this to know that), Reylo, Doctor Who, & Sherlock.

What are some of your favourite movies/TV?: Besides the obvious, just about everything Disney touches owns my pocketbook, dedication & continued attention. Parks & Rec, The Office (both UK & US), Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Gilmore Girls, Doctor Who, Star Trek: TNG, & Sherlock are all shows I can watch on repeat. I’m not even going to start on non-Disney movies, because I’ll be here all day.

Favourite books?: This is literally the most difficult question to answer, because books are life. I’m going to keep it brief & say “Harry Potter.” They changed my life, they saved my life, & they’re always there to welcome me home.

Favourite bands/musicians?: Favorites are so hard. I like a little something from most genres of music, but I can never turn off classic Elton John, BSB (I had full plans to marry Kevin as an 11 year old), Linkin Park, John Williams, Lady GaGa, Guns n Roses, The Killers, or Queen. Big picture wise, I’m particularly attached to Classic Rock, practically anything 80s, late 90s/early 2000s pop (I still know all the choreo to Bye Bye Bye & Oops... I Did It Again), The Great American Songbook, classical music, popular songs converted classical arrangements, and I’m a sucker for 1960s/70s R&B/soul. Long story short, I make a lot of playlists. 

If you could live in any fictional world which one would you choose and why?: Harry Potter for sure. Wands which choose you. Broomsticks which get released like new car models. Owls which deliver mail anywhere. Portkeys/Apparating/Brooms/Floo powder making travel dirt cheap/free. Butterbeer & Pumpkin Juice. If it’s not clear, I’m really into Harry Potter. OH. I also did a HP LARP a few years ago in a Polish castle, & it was the greatest thing EVER. 

Favourite food?: Oh food. How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. Seriously. I travel around just to eat. Limiting to one kind? Mexican food. I could eat it everyday. 

Favourite season?: Fall/winter. First of all, I like to wear a GRIP of layers. I’m also a big fan of being lazy & putting a beanie on over my unstyled (often unbrushed) hair. I’m also VERY into Halloween & Christmas. I decorate for both with gusto. Christmas goes up in my house the same day it does at Disneyland: 10 November. I’m also obsessed with Christmas Markets. So many quality Halloween/Christmas films too! I have an entire list of mandatory watches every year. 

Favourite plant?: Really large sunflowers with the dark red/deep orange petals. Their seeds also demonstrate the Fibonacci sequence, and I’m a human who believes math is the most beautiful thing in the entire world. 

Favourite scent?: There’s something magical smelling about old books for me. I also really enjoy the way rain smells on dry pavement when it first starts falling.

Favourite colour?: It’s been purple ever since I learned how the Phoenicians made it when I was 9. 

Favourite animal?: Cats. All kinds & sizes...except Sphynxes. & unicorns. Are you a night owl, an early bird, or a vampire?: Night owl/early bird. The insomnia is strong with this one. 

Place you want to visit?: I’ve been lucky enough to check a lot of places off my “must see” list, but Madagascar is still a life goal. OH! & to visit every single Disney park around the world. 

Do you have pets? If you do, tell us a little about them: Ah! Something I LOVE talking about. I have 3 incredibly spoiled cat children who want to cuddle all the time. That’s right. Cat loves cats. They’re all rescues, Maine Coons, and little characters to be sure. Their names are Dorcas, Knick Knack, & Elmo. We’ve had Dorky for 10 years and Elmo & Knick Knack for 9 years. Knick Knack likes to walk on a leash & paws at the door for his walk. Dorcas plays fetch with toy mice, and Elmo likes to cuddle so hard Eric is genuinely worried I’ll be suffocated by his snuggles. 

Tell us a little about yourself?: My grandma once told me that I’ve always known exactly who I am, even as a child, and I’ve let that sense-of-self guide me (not always to greatness mind you) every day. I’m an introvert with fairly crippling anxiety & depression, and I simply don’t care who knows it. If me being upfront about it can help anyone, I’m happy to do it. I’m hypercritical of myself & what I put out into the world. Being frank, honest, and sarcastic are how I say “hello,” but I’m also a firm believer in “don’t say something rude just to say something rude.” Tact is key. Encouraging people to find their own happiness & fulfillment in life are things which bring me joy. Likewise, I’d do pretty much anything for a friend, & if there’s something I can do to help them/help someone in their journey to find happiness in life, I want to do it. Uuuummm, I laugh so hard I cry a lot, and my eyeliner runs. It always makes people think I’ve been crying for real & filled with emotions. It’s awkward. I guess I’m creative? I like woodworking, pyrography, crafting, and making nerd stuff through those mediums. 

Fun or weird fact about you?: I entered my wedding reception to “The Imperial March.” It’s safe to say I’ve been a wee bit obsessed with Star Wars for longer than my Sega Genesis is old.

dating jisung is like being close to the sun, it’s warm and makes you feel at ease

there’s never a dull moment between both of you and you’re not entirely sure if it’s due to the fact you’re just both so in sync or it’s the fact that he’s just such a wonderful person to be around

he’s always dragging you to go eat at a restaurant or cafe because it’s nice to listen to the soft music they play and because food

sometimes you wonder what he loves more...you or food

but that’s okay

and you take turns feeding each other a little sample of each other’s food everytime

“is it good?” hes trying to be a cute good boyfriend but he forgot his mouth was full and nearly chokes

did someone say picnics? he loves those too

on the walk there he’s just dancing around and singing bits of songs with you and his hand is holding yours and swaying it around with excitement

plucks flowers every time you guys on a picnic date and puts them in your hair or behind your ear

and you do the same to him and he just puts his hands under his chin and winks and giggles like a little girl to make you laugh

“am i pretty enough for you?” jisung teases while he keeps the little flower from falling

always ends up falling asleep on you accidentally when he puts his head against your shoulder but it’s okay you don’t mind

every night is movie night...this kid has a full netflix watch list of horror movies ready for you (of course he goes to changbin for recs on what to play for you)

if you get scared he pauses it and takes time to talk to you so you can calm down

you can’t listen to any music because he’ll always try to sing along and bother you by dancing around really ugly

so to be even whenever he plays rap or hip hop you’ll rap along with it and do the gestures he did in the runner’s high video

your first kiss is in a movie theater because you were being too noisy and kept trying to whisper to him throughout the movie

“it just doesn’t make sense. like the clown is hiding under the sewers and taking all these kids and no one is doing anything about it? where are the adults?

“(y/n) i already told you in the book the adults are under a spell. just watch.”

not even four seconds later you’re tapping him again

and this goes on for a good four minutes before he sighs and puts down his popcorn and just kisses you

“just watch the movie, okay? i’ll explain after.”

and you just shrink into your seat and nod

LOTS OF CUTE KARAOKE NIGHTS WITH THE OTHER BOYS

you guys always win (okay sometimes jeongin does cause the kid has soul) but most of the time it’s you guys

one time signal come on and jisung had you do the choreo with him and it was actually really cute you guys are so cheesy it hurts

even with all the goofy young love you guys get serious when it gets to the music

you know jisung puts a lot of effort into everything and is very easy going but sometimes he slacks off because he’s not overly worried

you keep him on his feet and have a little harsher force on him kind of like chan because well, he needs it sometimes

he has a seat for you next to him in the studio so you can watch him work on things and keep him from getting distracted

“but look! i’m almost done. a little break doesn’t hurt. i just want to cuddle.”

“we can cuddle after, because i know you’ll give up for the night if i let you.”

“but it’s my music come on...”

he ends up listening anyways and keeps working

winter season for you guys means watching those cheesy horror films with like...winter season villains

you know what movies i mean those where santa claus is the killer or like elves kill people yeah those

“i am trying so hard to stay awake but this is so bad. why does something so good love things so bad.” you groan and lazily drape yourself over his lap 

“bad? are you kidding me this is really good. i knew those elves were always creepy for a reason.”

has you help him practice his vocals with him

but it doesn’t help

you sound...less than wonderful

“it was cute, it’s okay. with practice and time you’ll get better.”

can’t watch any cartoons together because he’ll instantly be trying to imitate the characters and get their voices down

goes on instagram live with you a lot when there’s nothing else to do

whenever exam season comes by for you he makes sure to keep you eating well and put a little light at his desk so you can study there and he takes his stuff to write somewhere else

there’s not really any conflicts in your relationship as jisung is well balanced with his emotions and who he is

there’s only moments where you get displeased with his lack of focus and him trying to take things too easy

and he gets displeased with you trying to get him to be more serious but it’s never anything big

will always apologize after with his arms wide open for a big hug and probably tickle you after

i have recs!!! first of all ty for asking me abt it hdgfs !! i’ll make u a list !! i will try to stay concise but i have bolded n linked the most important stuff since i tend to blabber a lot! there r groups i purposely didnt recommend! also! i advise you to look up who did what if you want to know why idcs abt certain artists that r big in kpop (like big//ba//ng, su//ju, bl//ock//b, ma//ma//moo & so on) tl;dr: kpop basics (spotify) + @tearera (my kpop sb)

i’ll start w some RECS but jsyk kpop as u might have heard of it is mainly composed of groups! which is why i’ll start w groups then soloists! of course u can check out most of them on spotify (u can listen to their playlist of the most famous songs atm!). please notice that the kpop industry is very ‘classic’ when it comes to concepts (cute r for gorls! badass r for boys!) so um. yeah. yikes. if i had to argue abt all the things i find wrong in this industry this post would become a manifesto, u can always pm me if u want to hear me complain lmao 

GIRL GROUPS

honestly…. TWICE are the first one that came to my mind when i thought of ggs to rec. they’re a 9 member group labelled under jyp entertainment n have debuted in 2015 with the bop like ooh aah… that u can listen to! their genre is mainly cute songs but dont be fooled!! they have extremely powerful songs & lyrics as well! some good starts with their music are LIKEY (2017, a bop, great melody, great rapping, one of their ult feel good songs, played @ the olympics), TT (2016, queens of halloween!), and also their most recent song WHAT IS LOVE (2018, iconic!! gay!! bop!! sweet!! great album!!). as twice are the kind that can set you off by their cuteness and playful vibes, i recommend you to check out some of their side tracks. personality wise, the girls r very fun and sweet! they’re all angels and i love them all THIS MUCH!! if u want to know, sana & dahyun r my favourite members!         

also queens, but from sm entertainment this time, Red Velvet are a 5 member gg who have debuted in 2015 with the song Happiness (at that time they were only 4 but the youngest member, Yeri, joined later on!). some very famous songs of theirs are… basically all their title tracks but i’d mainly recommend Russian Roulette, Dumb Dumb (also my fave rv music video!!), Peek-a-boo (what’s better than lesbians witches slaying men and eating pizza), Bad Boy (honestly… one of their best songs… title track of their repackaged album…good shit if u will). of course! there are some side tracks i will recommend! i will frankly say that i listen to a lot of their music and they’re my favourite musically! some faves in no particular order are automatic, cool hot sweet love, huff n puff, something kinda crazy, about love, kingdom come, little little and talk to me! they have very versatile genres and have two main themes of music, the red and the velvet, though these mix often! rlly! their music really good. they have amazing choreographies too!!!!

the third gg i will rec are one that have not debuted yet, it’s LOONA! get ready bc they are a 12 member group with one girl for every month. each girl was revealed every month staring from 2016 with a single album composed of one song and one side track that usually features another member! as this group has yet to debut, i cannot show you anything with all twelve members but! they work with units, there are three: loona 1/3, odd eye circle, and yyxy (tune in for their debut scheduled for may!) that each have an album. 1/3 r more of a cute girly concept, while odd eye circle have played strongly on the girl crush & rnb concept. we have yet to see what yyxy has for us n im frankly v excited!!! my fave singles are Around You (hyunjin), Let Me In (haseul), Singing in the rain (jinsoul, best girl), Eclipse (kim lip), and Heart Attack (by chuu!! also best girl). they have already released a lot of music so go ahead & listen to it! their music videos have a plot and it’s one of those theories fandom (loonaverse)! the positions that all the members will have wasn’t been revealed yet!

then here’s a list of ggs that’s not as detailed bc it would be too long: clc (they r…the girls….), exid (vocals, social criticism, sexy), blackpink (5 songs out but theyre all top notch), f(x) (v good music! bring them back from the war), gfriend (cute & refreshing concepts! v tight choreographies! sweet girls!), aoa, & many more! groups i dont rec bc i dont stan but that u should know of: snsd, 2ne1; that have disbanded but shouldnt have: sistar

BOY GROUPS

ok i stan two boy groups so that’ll be quick! i’ll also rec plenty of music!

the main group i stan is BTS aka the bangtan boys and yes… they’re everywhere�� they deserve it tbh… so theyre a 7 member boy group and they’re the first kpop group i ever stanned! they have released a lot of songs already but i’ll just mark something! bts are known for their cinematography and plot in their music videos as well as their politically/socially engaged songs. they debuted in 2013 with the youth-conscious song no more dream and um. forget the mv. the message is what’s important. secondly! my favourite eps & albums are DARK&WILD (forget abt war of hormone), The Most Beautiful Moment in Life pt2, WINGS, and Love Yourself 轉 Tear (which will be released on May 18th so stay tuned!). here’s a beginner’s list to bts & their music videos: spring day, blood sweat & tears, run, fire, i need u, and intros: singularity, serendipity. i cannot recommend bts songs bc i’d be unable to pick some, but here is my bangtan favourites playlist and spotify’s This Is BTS! n their most known song atm, still on charts, DNA. another thing!! they dabble in a lot of genres! there is a constant symbolism in most of their songs and music videos, which is why there are theories! also, here are my fave choreos (x x x) & non-official releases (x x x)! also! j-hope recently released a mixtape! check it out! it’s v good! the bad thing is that the fandom is massive n it is filled with young fans so a lot of fan-created content is cringey. apart from that! theyre lovely as a band n i’m not ashamed to say that they bring me most of my joy these days!

then there is… NCT. ok, let’s dive into them. nct is the acronym for Neo Culture Technology, they’re currently an 18 member boy group but hey! don’t be scared! they too work in units and have only released one song which features all 18 of them! it is likely that the band will expand later on & that the name NCT will become a brand (like akb48 u know). so far! there are three units! NCT DREAM (based on age, with the youngest members who r still minors), NCT U (the first unit to have debuted, aka nct united, a rotative unit with no fixed genre or members list) and NCT 127 (seoul based unit, fixed, with 9 members). they’re known for their experimentative and diversified sound, which goes from ballads to… this. while each unit have their distinct genre and vibe, they’re all under the same label of nct! and um, check out spotify’s nct playlist if u want! here r some songs that are basics! bolded r the faves! jsyk i hated their music & their clothes @ first bc it’s so unique so dw if u dislike them!

the last group i’ll present in length n that u should know about is SEVENTEEN. they’re a 13 member boy group & work in units as well but mainly promote w all the members! they’re the fun, sweet, talented, heartfelt refreshing boys we all love tbh! so! seventeen debuted in 2015 with the bop adore u and since then it’s been great song over great song… they also have great choreos! they’re the easiest group to listen to imo bc their songs are mostly light and very similar to what you can hear on teen top radios! then, they get stuck in your head very easily! here are some songs u can listen to that will make your day! mansae, very nice, pretty u, clap, don’t wanna cry, change up, n there are many more! some of my faves are when i grow up, trauma, still lonely, rocket, crazy in love, lean on me, and uhgh rlly all of their songs tbh! three units better known as teams: hip-hop, performance and vocal, with a leader in each. they put up great performances!!

then there is shinee, mostly nicknamed the kings of kpop, i’d make a very long desc but! i suggest you to see for yourself as the fandom is v helpful!

here are some boy groups that i rec but wont go in length with: pentagon (i stan!), monsta x (edm, powerful dances), shinee, exo (great vocals, great choreos, v good music), astro (bubblegum but v heartwarming! vocals), day6 (rock band, great songs), wanna one & many more! rlly um bgs arent the thing that’s lacking in kpop! 

a bit in the middle: KARD (mixed group!!! great music & genderless, breaking the usual hardcore is for boys & cutesy is for girls concept)

more of a solo person? check out artists like hyuna (ex member of both wonder girls & 4minute), iu, heize (a personal fave!), sunmi (ex member of wonder girls), taemin (member of shinee), amber liu (current member of fx! also released a mixtape recently!) hyolyn or dean… tbh there r many! these r just the ones i can think off the top of my head! theyre honestly easy to listen to so just look up their names on yt & u should find some good things!

oooh it's interesting to see you got into them after watching soobin's video!! honestly, i feel like those days were just yesterday but it's been more than two years. it's honestly mind boggling to think about sometimes.

and, yeah!! i remember really liking their miroh comeback and even learning some of the choreo for the chorus. and i liked side effects too. i was kinda in a like "i like them and their music but i still don't know all their names" phase ig. so, when they had their levanter comeback i was more than ready to get into them.

it took me a while to learn dreamcatcher's names and listen to their discography, but it's soooo worth it!! even if you don't learn their names, i highly recommend listening to their songs. i don't think they have a single skip, and every song is an experience to listen to. and yes, siyeon is the main vocalist!! they're all really talented vocalists but siyeon and sua's vocals definitely stand out. a lot of their music contain similar elements to the ones in deja vu and silent night, so it'd be very easy for you to get into the rest of their music. but!!! some recs (based on the songs you gave and some of my personal favourites) are: scream, and there was no one left, black or white, piri, you and i, good night, and chase me!! you don't have to listen to them, but if you do, i'd love to know what you think of these songs!!

and woahhh those are a lot of artists. honestly, i'm the same as you!! there aren't many soloists (who weren't in a group and have only ever been a soloist) i listen to. the few soloists i listen to either come from a group i know or are more of a krnb/k-indie artists. some i recommend are: baekhyun, dpr ian (his songs have a more grunge?? feel to them. idk i'm not good at describing music 😭), dpr live (live's songs are a mixture of hip hop & rnb), dpr cream (so far, cream's music is just tracks. i prefer his classics), and stella jang (i really love villain rn).

I heard scream, piri, you and i + chase me; I liked all of them but I don’t really like scream <|3 I do know that it was one of their releases that blew them up like crazy but I personally think it’s an okayish song. I really love piri though! The hook is my favourite part, and even the chorus is really interesting with how the vocals and instrumentals are combined. It’s really solid! I’ll listen to the others and let you know my thoughts on them too ^^

you guys are really the ones pulling the weight of your group tbh

on the 2nd meeting, you mention that you guys should create a gc for the group so you guys can stay up to date

mark pulling you aside after the meeting is over and saying “hey we should probably talk amongst ourselves too since you know…we’re the only ones really working here”

you feel the heat rushing to your cheeks because he’s close and his voice is low and he has really pretty eyes (thank God you’re black otherwise your face would’ve looked like a cherry tomato) and what’d he say again?

the gc annoys you a lot because the other 3 classmates don’t really care about the material

going off on them with mark in your private chats together and he’s agreeing with you and pitching in himself

staying up late to text each other about the group and actually go over the class assignment

when one classmate accidentally leaves the gc you honestly ask mark if you should add them back or not since they are the Laziest member

mark just looks at you like “y/n….” and you know he means Yes so you add them

when it’s time to go that day, you actually feel your heart pang and you get sad because it was so nice talking to him and you won’t see him till monday

on the 4th ring you go “oh fuck it” and pick it up

he’s panting, clearly rushing somewhere, and saying “hey! hey sorry i didn’t tell you the address of where to meet, im just now getting off the bus from my student council meeting and rushing to the place ” and he gives you the address of where you’ll meet up

it’s not that far - tbh it’s walking distance from where you live, so you wrap up the phone call, finish your makeup, and decide to just walk out

as you’re walking to the small cafe, you wonder why you spent so much time getting ready for mark when you don’t like him…..i mean you don’t right? how could you? he’s just your classmate

you almost miss the cafe entirely but mark shouts your name, startling you, and you walk up to him on the steps of the small place

he tells you he just got there but he already ordered oolong tea, a grilled cheese sandwich, and a blueberry muffin for you

you’re kinda annoyed he already ordered - esp since he had only just gotten there 2 minutes before you - but you feel shy when he says “i remembered you said during a convo once you’re more of a tea person” because i mean…it was kinda sweet

but you also ask if he ordered for himself and when he says “no, not yet,” you grin and tell him you’ll order for him

he blinks three times but doesn’t stop you so you order an americano, eggs, and a slice of lemon cake for him

when you finally sit down, the conversation immediately picks up from yesterday at the library - as if you just put a pause on a show, got up to do something, came back, and pressed play

everything feels natural and real and light when you’re with him, your laughter’s joining together and almost sounding harmonious in this small, old cafe

after a little over an hour of talking, mark rubs his hand alongside his nape and stares at his empty cup, clearing his throat

you lean your arm over from across the table and nudge him and ask him what’s up

when he looks up at you, you can see the nervous look in his eyes and he clears his throat again

before you can say anything he blurts out, “do you wanna go on a date me with later? to the movies? or maybe tomorrow if you’re busy today. actually you don’t even have to go out with me i have no idea what-”

you cut him off with a laugh and “a movie later sounds nice”

both of you stare at each other for a little bit with smiles on both faces before seamlessly continuing your previous conversation

before leaving each other at 2, you make plans to see a movie in a couple hours and you’ll meet at the mall in downtown to pick one out (he offered to pay for tickets and why would you refuse?)

let’s just say . You guys are talkers.

after the movie, you both spend a good hour analyzing your favorite scenes and laughing about the funny moments together

whenever you reflect on the funny scenes, mark claps his hands together, eyes wide, and goes “yeah yeah that part!”w

you feel your heart race every time you make him laugh with one of your jokes and any time he makes you laugh

when you do finally part ways, mark insists on taking you back home and so you catch a bus together

the bus ride home is filled with a comforting quiet and you notice mark starts to doze off

his head slowly falls onto your shoulder and you smile

since he has the window seat and its 8oclock, the sun begins to set on his face

you place your hand over his eyes to shield him and you feel a sense of warmth shower over you

when it’s your stop, you wake him up and it takes a few nudges before he opens his eyes

he doesn’t even notice his head is on your shoulder until after he rubs his eyes and looks up at you

he jolts up, stuttering out an apology but you giggle and tell him it’s fine - he looked like he needed the short rest

he also insists on walking you to your door and on the way there, he looks around at your neighborhood, noting the similarities between his and yours

it isn’t until he actually reaches your door that he realizes …… he lives just about 5 minutes from you - right around the corner actually

when he tells this to you, your first thought is “that’s great! that means we can hang out a lot more” and you don’t even realize you said that out loud until you see mark’s face light up a bit - both with excitement and embarrasment

you suddenly want to run inside and scream into your pillow so you try to end the goodbyes right now but mark places his hand on yours and you suddenly feel like time stands still

okay yes, his hand is on yours, time is standing still, everything feels a bit cheesy but life can be cheesy yknow? and right now it was about as cheesy as your best friend’s favorite triple decker grilled cheese sandwich

mark just smiles at you and says, “y/n, i’d really like hang out with you more….outside of school i mean,”

you smile and nod and he lets go of your hand and you both say your goodnights and “see you”s and you walk inside

A dancing noodle from southeast China wow (I say noodle bc he is a skinny bean and also v flexible bc he does martial arts things wow) he did Kung Fu in china for a long as heck time and does a lot of kicky things and flips and he’s super cool ALSO FUN FACT: HIS NAME IS JUN AND HE WAS BORN IN JUNE WOOHOO a lot of people assume he’s like sly/greasy but that’s mostly him in like interviewy shows?? But in reality shows and vlives he is actually just such a cute sweet bean and he loves the members so much! He was a child actor in china and was p famous I think for a while?? But he learned Korean p well before he joined pledis (their label btw idk if you know or not lol) BUT EVEN FROM DEBUT HIS PRONUNCIATION HAS KEPT IMPROVING IM SO PROUD a lot of people cal him the true visual of svt (tbh I don’t like that bc they’re all beautiful don’t put anyone down ah) BUT HE IS SO HANDSOME LIKE DAMN BOY HE’S GOT SUCH NICE FEATURES AND HE IS THE CUTEST BEAN IN THE WORLD Alsoooo several of the members have dubbed him svt’s mother bc he’s super encouraging and “endless positivity jun” and he pays special attention to minghao they have the purest friendship!! The other members act like they hate his jokes but they always laugh at what he says and when he was gone (rip he was sick for a couple months from end of may ish to july ish) they mentioned that they missed his dumb jokes (and so did I). He considers himself to be the best looking (what a ho) and he is naturally skinny which a lot of the members are jealous of (but tbh this could be partially because he has a lot of health issues and allergies I just want to care for him and make him food and feed him forever so he gets fat and happy help me) On one fine day he was dubbed the garden fairy and also jeon wonwoo bag of luck oh my god I am so embarrassed by him (jk I love him w the entirety of my heart in case you couldn’t tell) Some of my favorite things abt wonwoo are his little nose crinkles when he smiles and his glasses that look just so cute on him and when he wears big sweaters and then he has sweater paws and he looks so cuddly and soft. He is also seventeen’s grandpa bc he is rlly not too hip at all but they try to help him out anyway! He also winks 24/7 lol. His voice is rlly clear and piercing like he often sings parts of the chorus and his voice draws you in idk it’s nice:) he trained for the second longest amount after scoops (5 years) so they’re super close bc they were together longer than the other membersLee Seokmin aka Dokyeom/DK - an actual ray of sunshine w the most incredible vocals like wow! He is svt’s “happy virus” and boy does he own it!! He is always smiling and laughing and making jokes he is the cutest I stg… He also has a more built figure physically and it’s hot as heck tbh. He, seungkwannie and soonyoung make up the “booseoksoon” trio which is basically the extra/mc/always laughing squad and they are such close friends it’s the cutest ever boo and hosh think he’s the funniest person in the world I love it!! Seokmin also puts a lot of pressure on himself bc he’s main vocal and I feel like he’s super underrated???? But he went on King of Masked Singer and I think he made it through two or three rounds? Anyway he did rlly rlly good (even tho honestly think he has way more potential than what he showed) and I hope it boosted his confidence bc he is incredible!! The judges assumed he was from an older group bc his voice was so mature eeeee!! HE IS SO LOUD OH MY GOD one time they said that the CEO could hear him practicing from the 4th floor while he was in the basement I- He is always the first person to make fun of himself and he doesn’t mind being the brunt of a joke as long as he gets people to laugh it’s adorable:)) He always brings up the mood and helps out the members whenever there is awkwardness w being filmed and such JUST SUPPORT THIS SUNNY BOY HE HAS SO MUCH LOVE AND JOY IN HIS HEART!!Kim Mingyu - the tallest bean on the block and svt’s “visual tree” at a staggering 190cm/6'1" (correct me if I’m wrong I didn’t look this up) but I’m p sure he has grown recently bc he is getting taller everyday I swear? He’s got some good rap mhmm~ But he is such a clumsy pup and the members always make fun of him but it’s okay bc he can take it (he has the best reaction so that’s why they do it) He is dropping things and tripping 25/8 and it’s the cutest thing! But “housewife ming” can legit do anything like he is a true man of many talents damn i.e. cooking, hairstyling, acting, cleaning… But he is so so pretty like who the heck allowed him to be this attractive?? Gyu goes from super visual savior to fluffy pup on the daily and it’s too much to handle… Idk he seems like he might be super cool and chic when you first see him but he is actually just a giggly fool always having a hard time… Mingyu is the only one in svt that I would call the “visual” (only bc he is officially the visual i think they are literally gorgeous okay!!) but he is actually rlly insecure abt it and only calls himself “aspiring visual” and it’s mostly bc of his dark complexion WHICH IS COMPLETELY FLAWLESS AND SO BEAUTIFUL STOP WHITEWASHING KIM MINGYU PLZ but i rlly commend him for being visual despite common opinions/standards on skin color in korea. A lot of people (okay most people) ship him and wonwoo (aka meanie) and I do too, don’t get me wrong, but my all time favorite ship is mingyu and minghao (aka gyuhao) bc same age, they act like they hate each other but are actually super supportive (one of my fave tropes blah) and idk they’re both just confused pups help me and w that transition…

Xu Minghao/Seo Myungho(kor) aka The8 (i never call him the8 ever srry b i don’t like it idk ah) - our “cool cutie” from northeast(i think) China with the most killer bboying skills i’ve ever seen in kpop! He now introduces himself as “The8 with infinite possibilities” and he has been growing more and more as an artist and a person I’m so proud of him!! He trained for the shortest amount of time (~1year+2months i believe) and he really struggled w Korean when he first started. Even after debut he was very quiet but he has been talking more and more lately and he has been doing so well!! Minghao is cute as heck but he is also (along w hannie) svt’s Resident Savage™ and the main usage of his Korean improvement has gone into calling out the other members w his incredible comebacks. Two of his favorite targets seem to be soonyoung and mingyu but he rlly doesn’t hold back on anyone (except maybe jun bc they are such good buddies bc china line and jun helps him w his korean asjkklfjls) But anyway he is an incredible dancer and singer and also rapper!! (give him more lines plz plz plz) vernon has been helping him w his korean rapping but he is already one lit mandarin rapper like damn… But minghao is the most supportive member of svt (hear me out) whenever they do broadcasts or radio shows minghao always gives thumbs ups/supportive smiles/high fives it is the purest thing and part of the reason I love him sm!!! He’s also super cuddly and is always touching/hugging the other members asjkltfasd. Sometimes he doesn’t quite understand a question and the other members help explain it to him it’s my favorite concept (it’s usually soonyoung or seungcheol but i’ve seen p much all of them do it) lately he has been getting more meme-y and idk how to feel but as long as he’s getting out of his comfort zone I am immensely proud of him:))

Boo Seungkwan (boo) - the other main vocal in svt and just generally the loudest and usually mc for the group. Boo has some of the most incredible vocals i’ve seen in my life and he sings probably my favorite cover duet of all time (the high note around 3:05 makes me emotional every time istg also their reactions are me) He’s so talented and his voice is so clear and nice and his RANGE! I could go on forever… To describe seungkwan in two words would be sweet and sassy… He is part of maknae/baby line but he’s always calling people out and bossing them around it’s hilarious. (he is generally hilarious tbh) Also he’s a huge volleyball program nerd it’s great (and possibly haikyuu!! but not confirmed) He’s commonly referred to as divaboo and the video just seungkwan things captures all his divaness perfectly 10/10 would rec! He’s also super english-y all the time probably bc he spends so much time w vernon which is great for us international fans whoop whoop. But back to him being sweet- even though he is definitely his own biggest fan (in the most adorable way omg) he is also svt’s biggest fan he always cheers on his members it’s so cute he’s so soft and good! He cares so much for the fans and he’s head of the Seventeen Fan Cafe (i think) and he’s great abt interacting w carats and all that fanservicey stuff:) He is also super underappreciated honestly support him bc he supports everyone else even tho he’s rlly insecure abt his looks and body even tho he is the most beautiful boo w THE BEST CHEEKBONES IN THE UNIVERSE HAVE YOU SEEN THOSE THINGS DAMN BOY

Hansol Vernon Chwe/Choi Hansol(kor) aka Vernon (bernonie) - One of the most well-known members of svt bc he’s half white and was also a child actor. He has some of the most lit raps tbh and i’m p sure every single one (or almost) has english in it lol. His mom is white and American and his dad is from Korea. Technically he was born in New York, USA BUT BUT BUT he moved to korea when he was five so he doesn’t remember it like at all and every host ever asks him abt it and he always has to say he is basically korean and JUST LET HIM LIVE but since his mom speaks english he is fluent in it (but he has said he is better at korean) He is super super visual and he gets more attractive every day like who the heckkk. Hansol is one of the more popular members so a lot of people would expect him to be outgoing (or even douchey bc he’s half white which is dumb yet it happens) but he is one of the quietest members and usually doesn’t speak up in interviews and such bc he’s kinda shy! BUT THIS DOES NOT I REPEAT DOES NOT MEAN HE IS NOT A MEME!! VERNON IS CONFIRMED THE MEMEIST MEMBER OF SVT ALONG W JOSHUA DON’T FIGHT ME. At this point he has even been dubbed “memesol” bc he makes the best reaction faces in recorded history dear god. He also finds literally everything so hilarious and definitely laughs the most whenever the other members do anything. But honestly he is a super cute, sweet pup who deserves a whole lotta love!! also kinda unrelated but one of my favorite posts of all time is dedicated to him i don’t even know…

Lee Chan aka Dino (MY SON) - I DON’T EVEN KNOW WHERE TO START W THIS LIL BAB! Lee Chan is svt’s “small giant” maknae who is Michael Jackson’s #1 Fan™ and literal dancing machineeee! He has grown so much since debut i cannot believe and he is getting more confident MY BOY! Honestly his glow up should be some kinda world record bc oh my god it hasn’t even been two years?? AND HIS RAP HAS IMPROVED SO MUCH LIKE EVEN FROM JAM JAM TO OMG Vernon rapped most of jam jam but then in omg chan rapped all of it by himself!!!! ALSO EVEN FROM OMG TO HIGHLIGHT NOW HE TRANSITIONS FROM RAPPING STRAIGHT INTO SINGING WITH THE SAME BREATH I CANNOT BELIEVE!! But he is so creative and funny and full of energy!! He helps hoshi w most of the dances (i think he did most of the choreo for jam jam) and his stage name is dino bc when he steps on the stage he takes it over and becomes a big presence like a dinosaur which is so creative??? he also graduated high school a while back and then just too his entrance exams!! I’m so proud!! But he tries so hard to keep improving and he’s just so pure and has a complete heart of gold♥ He also aspires to be an mc and he works rlly hard to improve his skills on that front too! Chan is so incredibly talented, but again not a whole lot of people bias him which is crazy???? Bc he is so hansome and also my son?? also lowkey savage af But all the members love him a whole lot and he is their baby, even though he is now “an adult” but srry bun no one will probably ever stop calling him baby (esp jeonghan)
