ok girlies i’m gonna regret this post but supposing i need a very long (100k+) fic that will devour my every waking thought for the next 7-10 days so that i can avoid a stupid assignment for library school and that my usual favorite fandom for this purpose is h*rry p*tt*r, what do you all recommend

draco, the magic dragon - libbydrew a fic i first read on livejournal (showing off the varnish of my casket here) that i thought about regularly for the almost two decades i fell out of fandom. canon to me tbh. libby invented my draco rubric: proud lil showboat even when everything around him has gone to rancid shit, sarcastic and aloof personality as a poor facade to distract from the big ol' gaping well of hurt.

Potter took a great breath, then let it out slowly – a low whistle between his teeth. "Malfoy, I had no idea. I thought—" "Why are you here?" Draco cut him off before the idiot embarrassed them both. Their shared past was water under the bridge – even if Draco had drowned in it.

another back-in-my-day fav, even though i can only stand to read half of it. actually even thinking about it is making me stare off in a distance for upwards of three minutes. this one i would hand off wrapped in about a million miles of caution tape. + also a huge fan of michi's gory veela fic.

It was better than fighting, Harry thought, although sometimes he still wanted to rip into Malfoy, to hurt him. Other days, he thought, it was better than anything.

stately homes of wiltshire - waspabi another one that crept into my heart and made a home. hard to choose between this and waspabi's other drarry fic, but there's something about the decrepit manor that just does it for me. a perfect harry and draco, perfect soft reaching towards each other.

Draco smiled and dragged Potter from the shop before he could charm any more elderly ladies with his unkept, take-care-of-me-I’m-confused-and-have-nice-shoulders aesthetic. Once outside in the drizzle, he realised he still had his hand around Potter’s forearm. He yanked his hand back immediately.

warmfoothills :,) just reading this moniker makes me vision go soft around the edges. their writing has made me out loud, quietly say "oh," multiple times. the prose is darling, this story is such a brief, aching glance. it was also really hard to pick just one (flashback, warm nights i also go in for).

“I love you,” he says, unable to stop himself. Draco blinks, a barely-there flinch, like Harry’s taken a swing at him. “I know,” he says, still oblivious to the reference, oblivious to the way his words scoop right into the meat of Harry’s stupid, hopeful heart. “It’s not enough, is it?” Draco shakes his head. Above, the stars watch unfeelingly on.

the pure and simple truth - lettered no one does dialogue with the mastery lettered does. my GOD. my god. i feel like this fic is drarry perfectly distilled.

“What’s he going to be?” Blaise raised a brow. “Pardon?” “You said he says Hermione should be Minister, and all those other things. What does Malfoy think he should be?” There was something much like pity in Blaise’s eyes. “He thinks he should never, ever be forgiven for the things he’s done.” Harry felt ill. “That’s not fair.” “When has Draco ever been fair?” “I meant―” Harry swallowed hard. “That’s not right.” Blaise looked more pitying still. “When has Draco ever been right?”

the writer i avoid talking about the most bc once i start i cannot physically restrain myself from going on about their beauty forever. i sat for forty-five solid minutes frowning, trying to choose between this one and in the hand. and dwelling. okay anyway. i keep a doc of quotes from fics that resonate and it's 50% aideomai.

Draco wondered what Potter thought of this day, in the future the twins came from. If he had told Ginny about it. If he had forgotten it. He couldn’t forget it, could he? It felt burned into Draco’s body already, a final point that he had been moving toward for years without knowing.

After a bit of a fic reading drought (and some binge purchasing books), I've been finally getting back into reading fic. Here are some I've been enjoying this summer.

They'd never quite intended for kink to be anything more than fun. Then, Sirius went to Azkaban. He comes out a different man, and Remus wonders if they might just use kink for some other purposes as well. In the process, he does some healing of his own. OR The ways of breaking, reuniting, and healing through sex.

It's a kink porn with lots of plot fic! I'm normally so picky about Dom Remus/sub Sirius fics because they tend to go with a fanon characterization that doesn't work for me but this one *absolutely* works for me. Canon divergent with a happy ending <3

Sirius has Remus on his back moaning beneath him and it’s almost enough, almost.

Not much to say about this one except it's super hot wolfstar (c)nc and if that description interests you then you'll be into this delicious little fic.

@fvckyouimaprophet sets such an incredible immersive scene of an elite southern university and utterly sucks you in. This fic swept me up into that heady feeling of being a baby gay in queer spaces for the first time. It's like the time of your life you feel most yourself (can I show the real me??) and most conscious of your performance at the same time (I need to pretend I know what I'm doing!). Plus, lesbian Sirius is everything to me <3

It's been a while since I read something Snape-centric, and this is SO good and gives such a clear through line on his character. His relationship with his mother is incredible in particular.

In early 1974, one of Bellatrix's sisters is getting married, the other is pregnant, and Bellatrix is occupied with making sure the war escalates as planned. But a story from the Dark Lord reminds her of other concerns.

I always love @slashmarks's Bellatrix, and the portrayal of the mix of intense magical devotion and mundane domestic violence that is the bellamort relationship is particularly sharp and arresting.

Good morning, maggoty loves of mine. Despite all attempts to distract myself and you all with wedding cakes and dresses and textposts, it is five in the fucking morning, and I've been crying for half an hour already.

I'm listening to the Pentatonix cover of Hallelujah on loop and I will never be normal about anything ever again and there is nothing you, I, God, Satan or even Neil can do about it.

@mirrorleaf was kind enough to hijack my stupid royal family post with this fucking gorgeous edit of season 1 set to Hallelujah. Thank you, I'm now fucking sobbing and I found another edit again of season 1 and then I read fics and now I'm NOT FUCKING OKAY.

All the times Aziraphale looks up to Heaven and prays, how hopeful and desperate he is, and then the way he looks at Crowley while he's pinned against the wall, entirely calm and sure and safe.

And the song playing with Love is not a victory march, it's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah over Crowley crying over alcohol when he thought Aziraphale had died. I'm not okay.

I need to watch season 1 again. When I watched it first, it was in two installments with you maggots on livestream, and the first installment was like two days after I was kidnapped as Mascot of Good Omens. Needless to say, it was all a fever dream.

Then I watched this edit now and there's so much. There's so much fucking layers and emotion and nuance that I didn't notice. And it's absolutely going to wreck me and then I'll have to rewatch season 2 and by then I'll have no self-preservation and I'll have read the book and I'll never ever be okay again and I'll have to live with it.

You all really just found a guy on the internet and fucking wrecked him, huh. This fandom really just did that. Now salt and pepper shakers made me think about Crowley's Fall and the inherent transience of human nature and The angel you knew is not me.

It hurts. I thought I was ridiculous about Drarry. No I was entirely fucking reasonable about Drarry. This is a gut punch except to the throat. Repeatedly.

I remember when I made a post a day or two after finishing season 2 and someone, @thescholarlystrumpet it was probably you, told me that grief isn't a linear process and to take care. To anyone outside this broken fandom, that would seem like a disproportional response to a show's season 2 finale when we know that it will end happily. Everyone in this fandom knows how much that reminder is needed, though.

Besides, though we know that the show ends happily, we know that Aziraphale and Crowley will be together and it is inevitable, how does it still fucking hurt so much? I knew all the spoilers, technically, of the show before I started, and it still surprised me with the emotions.

I had to stop writing this post for a few minutes because an image came to my mind and I had to sketch it. Of how I'd felt when I came here, lonely and frightened, and how the fandom grabbed me and forced me to watch the show and how much it hurts and how beautiful it is and how it feels like a mirror. A shattered mirror, one that's soaked with all our blood and tears, but it showed me I wasn't alone. So here, have this brief sketch and do NOT come at with about pretentiousness my beloved maggots because for one, I have always aspired to be pretentious and for another, THE SUN HASN'T FUCKING RISEN AND I'VE BEEN IN TEARS WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME?

Congratulations, the next time anyone asks you if you've ever killed anyone, every one of you can confidently say that yes, you are indeed directly responsible for murder. My blood is on your hands, motherfuckers, you adopted a Mascot and then killed him.

One thing I absolutely despise in drarry fics —and by this I mean a specific subset, not like in general cause there are many amazing fics— is the characterization of harry (and draco), the way he's an absolute fucking doormat!!!! I get it y'all are tryna portray him as a social dimwit, it can be done in a normal way without making him seem like a piece of cardboard! Are we talking about the same dude here?? You don't actually have to completely demolish a character, take away their key traits just to make the other half of the ship look better.

Let me give a pointwise description:

1. Dude stutters after every bloody sentence, like he's so overwhelmed talking to draco "smirking, smooth as butter, sardonic, sleek, godly" Malfoy who keeps insulting him every fucking second. Do you really think that harry would entertain that bullshit, especially in post-war fics!!! Like he'd just take it and not put him in his place?

2. I read this fic long ago and I don't remember the name, but good god it was unbearable. Basically the golden trio apologizes to draco for his tragic life that they were responsible for after the war? Like wtf? Why is there even a need to do that? 😭 That was too much and I stopped midway

3. Again, draco "3 OWLs" Malfoy, some supersmart / second coming of tom riddle, keeps patronizing every action of harry, the amount of times harry's intelligence is insulted? Immediate no from me, like are we still doing the whole "harry dumb mf potter is unobservant, slow, stupid, can't function without some rat hissing in his ear that he's an idiot 24/7"? Don't you think it's lame?

4. Harry has to always put up with his shitty attitude, I am all for character development, I know characters are multi dimensional and complex, and showing draco having a difficult personality is well and good, but it starts to get annoying when there's no real growth in him. I've read fics where he's absolutely despicable until the end which is covered up as him being a dickhead in general and harry "fondly" keeps up with his shit. *gag* canon harry would NEVER

5. I think it genuinely wouldn't make a difference if harry was there or not, I am not kidding or being dramatic, those fics might as well be character × y/n fics

All of this leads me to hate draco's character more! You portray him as this insufferable bastard who has a heart of gold apparently (where?) who has no real growth, shows no humility or regret or even pretends to and you think harry will put up with that?

It would be interesting if he starts out that way, works on himself and grows and changes, that would be more tolerable and interesting!

But no, he's always this annoying guy who hurls insults, keeps mocking harry or his friends every other line, you might argue it's in his character, but aren't those the traits which make him unlikeable? like those aren't cute or quirky? wouldn't it make more sense to show him grow out of it? It's really annoying

And harry, let's not go there, he's a completely new character, might as well be an oc atp, you can't even compare him to canon harry, that's how bad it is! I still haven't completely discussed it cause it's already getting long, but he's this wet bloody blanket and I can't stand it, the gryffs (except Hermione) in general are shown as some bumbling buffoons who can't differentiate between their hand and foot!! And the slytherins are all savvy, masterminds, geniuses... I really don't know whether it's admirable cause it's weird seeing them pushed into these moulds where they can only behave a certain way!

I'm so tired this is still going on like?? Why are their characters such caricatures? All of this sounds like it may have been a thing of past, but I am appalled it's still happening!!!

This is not directed at all drarry fics out there, cause there are some gorgeous fics written by amazing authors who fucking get these characters and make it about them, about their relationship and explore it in a depth and nail their characterizations without making either one of them boring. There are a good number of fics that I actually enjoy cause of the way they write drarry's characters, which makes or breaks the fic imho

Harry collapses onto the couch, tossing his wand onto the coffee table and kicking off his Auror-grade combat boots. 

"That was brutal," he groans, pressing his hand against a blooming bruise on his thigh. "But Merlin, you were so fast with that Stunner." He snags the decanter of whiskey off the table, pouring two glasses.

This is their routine: high on the adrenaline of a successful case, they end up together at Harry's. They drink, talk about the case, and then they end up on the bed, on the couch, on the floor, and at least once on the open balcony. They don't have to talk about it -- some things are better left unstated.

Harry tries to pass him a glass, leaning over the back of the sofa, but Draco’s clutching his side and he hasn’t taken off his shoes or coat. Draco nods at it, blinking fast, but he doesn't reach to take it. And then he sways, and suddenly, Harry would swear he's turned even paler.

Harry stares for a second too long, tired brain slow to process. "Malfoy?" 

"I'm fine," Draco says too quickly. He makes a half-hearted attempt to turn away. "Really.”

Harry moves fast, off the couch and around, and then he's sliding an arm under Draco's to keep him steady. "Easy now.” Harry walks him to the couch, stomach sinking at the clammy, cold press of Draco’s skin against Harry’s. "You didn't say you were hurt.” 

"I can handle it,” Draco breathes, eyes screwed tight. 

"You're an idiot," Harry mutters, tugging at the bottom of Draco’s shirt. Harry tries to keep back a gasp when he sees the rough curse wound, but he can’t keep it all in. "Merlin, Draco. You're an idiot. We should’ve had the Healer look at this." 

“It’s not that bad,” Draco tries, but stops speaking when Harry catches his eye with a sharp glare.

Harry curses under his breath as he Summons a med kit and kneels down. "You’re a stubborn, stupid bastard," he grumbles as he disinfects the wound and wraps it in a charmed gauze. "Can’t believe you wouldn’t tell your own partner you were hurt.”

"I know," Draco murmurs. "I didn't want to give them any reason to—"

"If they dare take you off our cases I'll fucking quit," Harry snaps as casts a quick wandless, wordless healing charm. "We earned these cases fair and square, and they don't get to retaliate against you out of some stupid idea of who you are."

"Some of it is earned," he winces as the charm shimmers across the bandage.

"I don't care," Harry adds, quieter, running gentle fingers over Draco's unblemished hip. It's almost possessive, if it weren't so tender. "I wouldn't want a different partner."

"See?” Draco says weakly. "You’re the idiot if you’d throw away a guaranteed Head Auror position for this.” Draco presses two fingertips to Harry's lips. “Don’t say something sappy.”

Harry rolls his eyes. “I make my own choices. And you need to slow down and take care of yourself when you’re hurt.”

“Look at me! I’m resting, I’m tending to my wounds, being good and all that. I am taking care.”

“No, I am." Harry says it sharply first, then softens. “Taking care of you, I mean."

"I could do it myself."

"You could." Harry presses the last piece of tape down over the edge of the gauze. "Would you rather that? Deal with all of it alone?"

"No," Draco says. He takes Harry's hand and runs a single finger over Harry's bruised knuckles, tracing the familiar lines of Harry's hands. "I think together is preferable."

i never, ever vibe with characterisations of harry which don't acknowledge that - even if the things which have happened to him in his life might more commonly preclude this - he canonically has an extremely robust sense of self-esteem.

and, like all personality traits, this has both positive and negative aspects to it. harry's courage, resilience, decisiveness, resistance to manipulation, excellent intuition, capacity for mercy, not being a people-pleaser or being desperate to be liked, and so on are all connected to the fact that he's confident in himself and his decisions. but so is his impulsivity, his self-centredness, his tendency to make knee-jerk judgements, and his conviction that his way of doing things is the right one.

his conversation with aberforth in deathly hallows is him learning to balance the two sides of this trait - which is why the hog's head serves narratively as a liminal space, with aberforth the gatekeeper of the threshold which harry crosses as he returns to hogwarts as a changed man: his view of albus dumbledore no longer black-and-white; his unwillingness to accept help from others challenged, and his view of his battle against voldemort as something one-on-one widening into him fully realising for the first time just how many other people will be integral to defeating the dark lord.

the post-war harry, then, is clearly going to be a bit more chill than his teenage counterpart. but the bit of him that - snape would be right to say it, were he not a teacher! - was prone to strutting needs to be channelled into something... and we all know that "something" in this case refers to the fact that harry's clearly someone who likes being in charge in the bedroom.

but aberforth won't be bossed around! harry doesn't have time for that!

harry potter/george weasley

i back this pre-war - harry is demonstrably fond of and impressed by both twins [and in a very interesting way, in comparison to many of the other peripheral characters with whom he interacts, since he actually pays attention to their lives outside of how they involve him...], but he also clearly regards george as the one of the two who is more easy-going, more adaptable, and whose sense of humour less cruel, and these are all traits he clearly values.

post-war, though, i am wedded to the idea that his relationship with george is - while never hostile or wholly negative - always incredibly strained by fred's death.

not because i think george would blame harry for this - or would dismiss fred's agency in deciding to fight for his and harry's shared cause - but because can you imagine what it would be like to know that your brother-in-law was so special and had been loved so much that he was able to come back from the dead...

while your brother - who was the other half of your soul - wasn't.

harry potter/nymphadora tonks

harry's view of tonks - in both order of the phoenix and half-blood prince [she's not really in enough of deathly hallows for him to spend much time thinking about her] - is that she's low-key annoying.

this seems weird - since he's canonically drawn, both platonically and romantically, to people who have many of the same traits as tonks, especially the fact that she's funny, cheeky, and irreverent - and i genuinely think that it must come down to there being one thing about her that gives harry the ick for incredibly spurious reasons...

and it's clearly her hair.

harry is shown - throughout the series - to, when it comes to women, have a real thing for long, shiny hair.

he's distracted in one of his owl exams staring at parvati's luscious locks! the only thing about fleur which really gets him is her lovely blonde mane! bellatrix's hair is a direct contributor to her being his "hear me out"! he bangs on about ginny's hair all the time! the first time he notices that hermione's attractive is when she's straightened her hair!

he is - then - clearly one of those men who believes that a woman having short, brightly-coloured hair is a turn-off... tonks doesn't need the hassle.

seamus would absolutely go there - he's always trying to catch harry's eye so that he can make sure harry knows he thinks his jokes are class - but i suspect this crush wouldn't survive contact with discovering that harry could list, at most, five facts about him.

while i'm someone with a great level of respect for the technique of just annoying someone so much that they eventually fall in love with you... the only way this is happening is if harry's both imprisoned somewhere with colin as his jailer and literally unable to die.

This year was my entry into fandom and fanfiction, and what a wonderful thing to have happened! I started reading drarry in March, never thinking I'd write it. Then, by July, I found myself signed up for two different fests and writing every day. I hadn't written like that since I was a kid. And I'm not sure I've ever experienced community like this. I've made dear friends and keep making more, and I'm making things again, and I'm so happy to have this little pocket of joy, and -- really, there aren't words for it. It starts out as a straightforward errand. 

Malfoy has ordered more siren moss than they have in stock. They can’t grow it in the greenhouses, and, because it’s endangered, it requires a licence to gather, and a harvesting technique which promotes further growth instead of stifling it. 

“I was counting on the full delivery today.” There’s a note of hysteria creeping into Malfoy’s voice that’s making Harry uncomfortable. “My whole batch will be ruined if I don’t add the siren moss in the next twenty-four hours.” 

Harry’s first instinct is to say something rude about piss-poor business practices, but Malfoy hasn’t been so terrible the past few weeks. Harry can be patient. He points to the pile of moss sitting on a workstation. “That’s everything we have. Sorry.”

Patience is not, apparently, an effective tactic. Mortified, Harry watches as Malfoy’s face crumples. He looks like he might start crying. 

“Mal–Draco, what the hell?” 

Malfoy sniffs, hugely, his cheeks pulled tight with the effort of holding back tears. “It’s fine.” 

“You’re a shit liar. What is it?”

Quietly, he says, “I’m going to have to close down the shop.” 

“What–why?” 

“Because I’ve been operating at a loss for ages, and this potion took me half a year to brew. But now…” The danger of tears appears to have passed. Malfoy just looks tired.

“Couldn’t someone lend you the money?” 

“Who? My family’s money is gone.” 

And then Harry hears himself say, actually watches himself do it, as if the real Harry, the sensible, not-a-total-git-Harry, is floating outside his own body, “I could.” 

Malfoy stares at him. “I’m not… I don’t want your charity, Potter. I just want the goods I’m going to pay you for.” 

“I don’t have them!” 

“Then where do you get the moss?” Perhaps they aren’t fully out of the woods on the tears front. Malfoy’s voice has gone suspiciously shaky again. “I’ll go get some myself.” 

“You can’t harvest it. That would be illegal, not to mention horrible for the plants…” It’s happening again. Harry is hovering up near the ceiling, watching as some idiot wearing his glasses says, “If it’s so important, let’s go now, together, and I’ll get you more.”

When Harry returned Draco's wand (not personally, he had an owl deliver it) Draco almost sent back a letter of thanks. Instead, he got a new wand and decided to forget about the whole ordeal.

When Draco was invited to his first fundraiser after the war (because Malfoys may no longer be society darlings, but they were still very, very rich), Harry was there, flanked by Granger and Weasley, lurking near the champagne fountain and generally trying to be one with the wall. Draco almost went over there to poke at him for old time's sake, to liven up this shindig with some fisticuffs, but instead he gritted his teeth and pretended to be interested in what Mrs Shobrooke was prattling on about.

When Pansy took up with Luna Lovegood, of all people, Draco was suddenly forced to socialise with the Gryffindor set. He almost managed it without incident. Just once, he tripped Harry into tumbling ass over tea kettle into a blackberry thicket. Harry may be a war hero and saviour of lives from fiery infernos, but he was still an insufferable tosser.

When Draco was called into the Ministry for a meeting with the head of the DMLE, he almost ran, convinced that someone had finally remembered his part in the war and Dementors would be coming for him after all. Instead, he walked into the office on shaking legs and accepted his new partner, Harry Potter, with barely a raised eyebrow.

When Draco got injured on the job, Harry was there when Draco woke up in the hospital, slumped in a dreadfully uncomfortable St Mungo's chair, with several days of stubble darkening his jaw. "You arsehole," Harry said, squeezing Draco's hand, "don't you fucking dare do that again."

"Love you too," Draco murmured, slipping back into potion-induced slumber with a smile on his lips. 

When it's been three years of working together, drinking together, bleeding together and almost being friends, Harry leaned close in the pub one evening and Draco's heart stopped. He could smell the alcohol on Harry's breath, feel Harry's hand on his arm. "Hey," Harry said, "can you reach the crisps behind you? I need to soak up this beer or Ginny will have my bollocks when I come home."

When the papers announced the upcoming nuptials of Harry Potter and Ginevra Weasley, Draco got rip-roaringly drunk, made out with half the men in the Muggle club, and proposed to Pansy. Thank Merlin she laughed in his face.

When all wedding vows were spoken and rings exchanged, Harry stumbled into Draco at the bar. He was flushed and grinning, shirt half unbuttoned and wearing his tie as a headband. He looked like a pirate. "Draco," he slurred, "how are you still sober? I've been drunk since breakfast. You need to catch up."

Three shots later, Harry tilted his head, blinking rapidly, and said, "You know, it's funny. There was a time when I almost thought I had a crush on you." 

"Hilarious," Draco said, around the gaping chasm opening up in his chest. "If you'll excuse me, I think I might vomit." He staggered away from happily drunk, happily married Harry and almost made it to the toilet before being violently ill all over the bathroom tiles.

3. Which one outlives the other, and how they cope

Starting off strong with immediate pain I see. Why would you hurt me like this? I like the angst and thematic potential of Draco being the one to outlive Harry. No one expects it. Least of all Draco. Harry is everything, the Boy Who Lived Twice, a constant since Draco was 11, so energetic and unique and yes human and vulnerable in a way that the public forgets, but still somehow larger than life. He couldn't possibly do something as mundane as die. Draco can't even begin to fathom it. How could this be the thing that he finally beats Harry at? It can't be.

Meanwhile Harry doesn't fear death. He got over that a long time ago. When it's his time he doesn't linger. He probably even makes a quip about how Draco can finally get the last word in their arguments. Draco keeps going but he's never the same afterwards, though to him it's more that the world isn't the same - everything seems just a little less bright, somehow, than before. Until one day he finds himself in a place that looks remarkably like Kings Cross and there is an achingly familiar face waiting to greet him.

6. How they decorated their bedroom

Haphazardly. Mostly with gifts from other people because Harry doesn't really see the point and Draco grew up 1) having people to worry about things like that for him and 2) with an all white marble aesthetic so having a random collage of Quidditch posters seems entertainingly rebellious to him. Since most of their decor comes from their friends and family trying to brighten things up they end up with a very eclectic and rather clashing look - a flower Luna painted on the wall, a rather severe looking bedside table from Narcissa that has a nasty habit of growling at the cheerful area rug that Molly brought etc.

Draco does however start sneaking in some "random" decor that just so happens to have highly realistic snakes in it. This definitely has nothing to do with the fact that he finds it sexy when Harry speaks Parseltongue.

10. What TV shows they watch together, and which ones they hide from the other

They don't because the wizarding world has yet to discover the concept of television and Harry never got into the habit because mostly Dudley wouldn't let him watch tv so he never really developed a taste for it and also he associates enjoying tv shows with Dudley and consequently looks down on it a bit. The half remembered programs he occasionally got a glimpse of in his childhood aren't enough to compel him to go to the trouble of trying to find a way to get something set up without magic sending it haywire.

Draco of course had never even heard of a television till after the war when he ended up spending time in the muggle world during his probation and even after because for quite a while no one in the magical world wanted anything to do with him. He never really got into any programs but at least he now knows what a television is. Unlike Arthur Weasley who still refers to them as Teffle-Fissions. Draco is secretly rather proud of this though he'd never let on. He also wins Arthur over with his stories of the Muggle world.

Draco does however enjoy listening to several wizarding radio programs - mostly of the mystery genre. Nothing too heavy because after the war he doesn't want anything with too much violence or realism in it. Harry didn't grow up having stories read to him (as far as he can remember anyway) and can be a bit utilitarian in his thinking. He doesn't really see the point of getting invested in something make-believe. Draco of course makes a huge Thing of it and makes a point of imitating characters from the show and dropping overdramatic references just to get Harry to roll his eyes. Harry for his part starts listening along just to make fun of it. It becomes a bit of a routine and after a few decades Harry finds himself just the tiniest bit invested. (He would never admit it of course, but Draco can tell).
