The Wolf of Wall Street by Jordan Belfort — Book Review

As I read The Wolf of Wall Street, one recurring question kept flashing through my mind: what would I do if I had the same jaw-dropping wealth as Jordan Belfort? How could I possibly spend that kind of money? I imagine I’d indulge in simpler pleasures—buying more books, expanding my vinyl collection, maybe traveling to Switzerland, though for reasons far less dubious than opening a bank account for laundering. And sure, I’d probably splurge on the occasional fancy dinner, but at $20,000 a plate, I’d expect nothing less than a divine culinary experience.

It’s hard to wrap my mind around the life Belfort describes. It’s a life so absurdly excessive that it seems almost too outrageous to be true. Half of his story is wildly hilarious, filled with the kind of antics that could only come from someone with more money than sense. The other half is just pure insanity, where the boundaries of excess are stretched beyond comprehension. From lavish parties to drug-fueled escapades, his world is an unrelenting carousel of excess and absurdity.

But as entertaining as some of the chaos is, the last few chapters were a real slog for me. By the end, Belfort’s increasingly reckless behavior, driven largely by his crippling drug addiction, becomes harder to stomach. It’s not just the drugs that make his actions so frustrating—it’s the choices that led him there. The casual, conscious decisions to chase power and wealth at the expense of everything else. What becomes clear in his story is that nothing corrupts quite like money and power. They warp our sense of right and wrong, often so subtly that we don’t even notice until we’re lost in the moral abyss.

I like to think that, given the same opportunities and mountains of cash, I’d make better decisions—use the wealth to help those around me, to make the world a little brighter. But honestly, who’s to say? None of us truly knows how we’d react when faced with such intoxicating levels of power and excess. And besides, when your fortune is built on fraud and deception, it kind of negates the idea of “good intentions” anyway.

What I do respect, however, is Belfort’s willingness to tell his story with brutal honesty. It takes a certain amount of courage to lay bare your own addiction, your worst impulses, and the sheer madness of it all. His account offers an unflinching glimpse into the life of the obscenely rich, a life filled with unimaginable highs and equally devastating lows. It’s a cautionary tale, and if nothing else, it proves that wealth and power, without restraint or integrity, can lead you to the edge of your own destruction.

Welcome to snoopy’s first review! 

It is my first hockey romance book! I am still new to reading about sports romance books and they have been a continuous theme as I have been picking up new hobbies . This was picked up at target if I do remember and I have been going through a slight hockey phase. I got it back in November and it has been sitting on my shelf since then. Until In January when I began to pick it up to read. The plot was pretty solid! The chemistry between both characters were great!  It was nice picking up a book after a while. Let’s really get into it!

Most spoiler free review! spoilers without context. 

My first thoughts of it while reading, is that it started off slow slightly. It took me a while to really get into it but I knew if I would keep reading the ball would roll. Or I should say the puck gained momentum lol. I loved that the book had a playlist and it’s my favorite thing ever. Though when I am reading I never know when to play a specific song. But I do love the fact that the book had a playlist. I loved both characters and the way their personalities collided and their dynamic was so natural. That was my favorite part while reading this book. I loved how organic and how natural their relationship began to build up. From bringing flowers that are used in funerals to actual sunflowers, and from valentines day date matching to Mickey Mouse shaped pancakes. I really did like this book and it was a good read. It was a nice romance book to read over the holidays. It was slightly predictable but I didn’t mind it. When I read romance stories I don’t take them so seriously compared to other books… that hopefully will be reviewed soon on snoopy’s corner 😉

If this book could be a drink it would definitely be chai tea, there were scenes that tugged my heart and scenes that made me giggle as I kicked my feet. I loved that though there were spicy scenes, it didn’t completely take over the story and it was just simply perfect. I have read too many stories where the story gets lost due to this and it immediately becomes apart of the DNF  (did not finish) race. I am looking forward into reading the next book from the mini library I have. I do not know what will be next, when the book is finished the review will come out :) feeling a little spooky… during this upcoming spring stay tuned. In the meantime… I will be heading back to my corner picking which book and seeing where the story take me.

The first book in the Bad Boy Bears series, although the story of the bear twins, Teddy and Darius, has already been told, you don't have to have read this to enjoy this fantastic shifter read - where a billionaire bear shifter, away from his home, finds his mate, a human female who seems to be a captive in her own home by her guardian - Darius needs to find out just what is going on!

Darius left his home under the guise of making something of himself to save his land, keeping his bear locked down after a violent childhood trauma left him afraid of letting his bear loose. He gets invited by Thom, who is the wealthiest hedge fund billionaire in the hopes of making some new deals.

Paloma has been held captive by Thom since her parents died, her younger sister, Wren, being held at a strict boarding school to enforce her compliance, as Paloma has a unique psychic ability to be able to play the stock markets, knowing which companies will either win or fall. Thom has made his billions off Paloma and her abilities, but can see even more potential in breeding her out and loaning her for a short amount of time, of course to the highest bidder!

When Darius seems Paloma for the first time he is immediately drawn to her, his bear fighting for control to be near her, with Darius struggling to keep himself together. Paloma was instantly attracted to the Viking like huge man, but thought he was just another one of Thom's acquaintances there to bid on her. Little does she know she's about to be rescued by a bear of a man!

Loved the story line with these two, and then when they get back to bear land and meet all his family, that was just awesome! Hot and steamy bear passion, with some Viking fantasies thrown in there for good measure! A fabulous start to this series, can't wait to read more about these bears and their family.

Gracing you again with my unedited full review of 𝙷𝚎𝚒𝚛𝚜 𝚘𝚏 𝙳𝚎𝚜𝚝𝚛𝚞𝚌𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗, a new high fantasy novel series that I enjoyed so much. I absolutely highly recommend this brilliantly written novel. My full review might contain SPOILERS, so be aware of that when you decide to read my unedited review.

It took me a while to finish this because this novel was stressing me– NOT IN A BAD WAY BUT IN A GOOD WAY.

Going forward, the writing is brilliant. It did really well in drawing my attention and curiosity from the very start until the end. I was glad that the writing really did fit the story, I think that’s one of the main reasons I enjoyed this book very much.

The world building was intricate. I would say the author did well in introducing it in the novel, I quite enjoy it. The world building did really feel medieval to me and perhaps a little bit of the GoT atmosphere. I would definitely love to see more of it in the 2nd book. Although I’m quite waiting for the Dragon and Vampire concept to be shown more, it wasn’t that much here, so I hope the 2nd novel will exercise these more.

The plot was very much politial at the beginning. However, it did waned and went towards the character arc route, in my opinion, in like 60%, which I didn’t have a problem considering the characters were really likeable. I was really rooting for them all. Still, it was politically intrigued to me in some ways and more building of the storyline.

I would say I was more attached to the characters, especially Rhella and Virgil. Their dynamics and chemistry are undeniable. They’re giving me so much of a strong couple and ride or die couple vibes, and strangely, the Percy and Annabeth, I don’t know why, honestly. I’m definitely looking forward to the developments of this pairing.

Asriel, on the other hand, I was rooting for him to be honest, but after that scheme of his, I was upset. I was expecting so much of him, but I would say I’m disappointed with his character.

There are quite a few suspicious characters, in my opinion. I would say let’s see how it goes in the next instalment.

The parts towards the ending on the hand— I’m not quite sure how I should feel about it, I’m suspicious? It was abrupt to me and felt anticlimactic. That being said, let’s see how it would go after that part in the next instalment.

Overall, this was a solid introduction for the series. I’m really rooting for this and excited for the events, especially Rhaella, Virgil, Asriel, and the rest of the characters’ development in the next instalment ♡
