happy to see these design references cause they strongly represent my culture
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
as i had seen in a short long back, ruler of kashmir had introduced persian weaving techniques to india. indian weavers added their own motif of mangoes to the designs, called kairi or ambi. later on the east india company exported these handcrafts to the west. eventually the west started producing this design on their own and the largest factory to do this was in the town of paisley and that's how the name got famous.
i personally love this design

One thing I love about ikesen is that without it I would have never heard what the sengoku period was. Im so glad I’ve come across this game and come to b aware of this time period.
(Currently learning bout (irl) hideyoshi’s failed invasions of Korea- very interesting stuff!)

「Ikesen Historivia] Adult men can and will get stuck with their childhood name, sometimes
Tumblr media
This is Ikesen-verse so it's fine, and it's for fluff's sake, but actually... in reality a number of Sengoku people had to go by their childhood names even after they get their adult names.
The thing about the Sengoku is, you can't actually call people by their names straight. You can't call Nobunaga with "Nobunaga-sama", that's rude and maybe your life might go bye bye because of it. You have to use "alias names".
(you can apparently use the name in letters, or if the person has a high enough title to be addressed with -kou suffix, but most of the time you don't use personal names like "Nobunaga" straight)
You know, if you play SLBP you'll see Yukimura sometimes introduce himself as "Sanada Genjirou Yukimura". "Genjirou" is the alias name, and in real life that's what you should call him by, not "Yukimura".
The problem is, not everyone gets to have that alias name. I actually have no idea why sometimes people do and sometimes they don't, but when they don't get an alias name, the childhood names becomes the "alias".
Mitsunari is an example of this. He still went by his childhood name "Sakichi" even after Honnouji, as accounted by multiple paperwork, even though he definitely already has his adult name then.
Other than childhood names and aliases, people also can be addressed by titles. Motonari as far as I know don't have an alias name, so he could be addressed as Shoujomaru and that should be 100% fine. He did seem have a title pretty early on, though, which is "Tanpi-dono", so people can also address him with this.
But again, like the issue with Kichou's name this is so much technobabble lingo, would be confusing to casual readers if Ikesen had followed the Real Life (TM) rules. Nobody cares except for people who just really like to read about real history.
-----
Bonus Trivia of aliases: Nobunaga's alias is "Saburou", Hideyoshi is "Toukichirou", Masamune is "Toujirou", Akechi is "Juubei", Shingen is "Tarou", Kenshin is "Heizo", Ieyasu is "Jirousaburou", Yoshimoto is "Hikogorou".
Kanetsugu also doesn't have one, so he goes by his childhood name "Yoroku".
Keiji is... just Keiji, because that is the "alias name". Some people are more famously known by their alias instead of their actual name. Sometimes written as Keijirou. He also supposedly went by "Soubei" (referenced in Ikesen's Second Prologue). His personal name is a bit unclear, but most texts usually refer to him by Toshimasu or Toshisada.
Ranmaru is "Ranhoushi", or sometimes just "Ran" for short. His personal name is Naritoshi.
Kennyo is... also just Kennyo. Monks go by their "ordained name". Kennyo's personal name is Kousa.

oh!! could you talk about the history of who is into males etc.
((Sure! Why not! ^^
Nobunaga's relationship with Ranmaru is infamous. He's possibly also had shudou relationship with Maeda Toshiie.
As for Kenshin, we know he was unmarried throughout his life. Though it does not necessarily imply he was into shudou.
Shingen is said to have shudou relationships with many boys. He's known for being in a relationship with Kosaka Masanobu, one of his retainers.
There's a story regarding Hideyoshi.
One day, his retainers were curious if their lord is into shudou, because he did not have any male lovers. They found a very beautiful boy.
Later when they asked the boy what happened when he was with Hideyoshi, he replied that he was just asked if he had a sister.
Take what I say with a grain of salt, as this is more of a hobby. I'm not a professional historian.))

i do wonder if one reason i tend to go for the method of "kidnap a vague story idea and make expies of all the characters i think are relevant and make up something new and barely recognizable" instead of the much less complicated method of just "writing a fanfiction" is that i play fast and loose with lore details if i think they suck or are boring or just irrelevant and i have this very intense possibly irrational but maybe rational fear that if i write a i dunno. zelda fanfic and i dont get everything 100% right based off the official nintendo timelines that ive been ignoring since they came out that the fanbase is going to take me out back and put me down.
#another reason is it is just fun LOL and i can get even faster and looser with expies#but i do feel that urge sometimes like. damn. i wanna make a fanfiction#but then i get. hashtag scared#i like interpreting stories too much!! having a little fun with it and thinking about it but not deciding anything clear or concrete!!#those who know my ikesen AUs know this about me. you know this HFKDSLJFDS#a woman can be a normal woman and also a goddess and also a normal woman (single mom edition) and also some kinda time travel anomaly and#a fucking GHOST i dont know an alien a person who doesnt remember history class. a person who doesnt remember history class.#all that can be true to me and also none of it is <3 i like to live my life ambiguously#i am comfortable getting silly and having fun with fan stuff for ikesen tho. actually a lot of smaller and more obscure games like that#like ikesen is not tiny but it is an otome game (niche) and a mobile game (another niche) from like 2016 (7 years ago)#so the fanbase was always a little smaller but chill. had a lot more confidence there#but i get so scared making fanworks for bigger stuff....i need to get braver.... i need to get courage#and then maybe. i can make the dinosaur zelda game AU of my dreams#and maybe i could even. draw fanart. of the popular spy and assassin and telepathic child manga ive been quietly obsessed#with for a year straight. maybe. maybe i can do it#(not gonna stop expying characters from stuff tho LOL i mostly do that with stuff i was meh on anyway hkjsjfds)

Ikesen Boys React to Tattooed MC pt 1
This was an ask from @otomedad that I just had to write. I did some reading up on the history of tattooing in Japan and there was so much that I found super interesting. So! Here goes, starting with Nobunaga, Hideyoshi, and Masamune! Approx. 1500 words.
Nobunaga
“What’s this, fireball?”
You feel Nobunaga’s breath tickle your shoulder blade, his lips so close they almost brush your skin. For a moment, you don’t know what he means. It’s hard to think when parts of you are being ‘claimed’, afterall. But you smile as the memory comes back to you. Sitting on a stool, arms braced on the counter in front of you, with the buzz of the tattoo gun in your ear. “You like my koi?”
His fingers brush the inked design, tracing the outline of the leaping fish. “It is very well done.” He does not sound pleased, though he’s trying to hide it.
“You don’t.” A slight pout draws your lips out and down.
Nobunaga stills behind you, so motionless that you don’t even feel him breathing. Just as you are about to break the silence, he wraps his arms around you, pulling your back against his chest. “It is part of you, so it is beautiful.” His chin rests on your shoulder, just above the tattoo in question. “Why did you receive this mark?”
There is an unexpected tension in his voice, and you laugh to ease it before explaining. “I got it after I graduated from design. It represents my struggles, and my determination.” You turn your head to kiss his cheek.
He regards you with a serious expression, tense despite your affection.
“Do you really hate it?” You can’t help how vulnerable you feel as you meet his carnelian gaze.
“I told you. It is beautiful, as you are. But . . .” He pauses, a slight grimace crossing his expression. “I do not like that someone marked you. Someone else claimed this -” He leans back to spread his hand over the koi. “Every part of you is mine.”
“Are you jealous of my tattoo artist?” You grin, unable to hold back. “You know I picked the design and the colors and everything, right? He was just some guy with a good flash book . . .”
Nobunaga’s frown does not ease, though you know that he’s aware this is ridiculous.
You snuggle back against him. “Alright, alright. I understand. If you could do tattoos, I’d get one from you, ok?”
Something mischievous flickers in his gaze and a slight smile turns up the corners of his mouth. “Yes. This is acceptable.”
You aren’t sure what he’s accepting. Nobunaga can’t do tattoos, right? Right? Whatever questions you have disappear as his lips find that sensitive spot at the back of your neck.
Hideyoshi
You roll up your sleeves to start working on the kitchen’s herb garden. The day is warm and sunny, promising a hot afternoon. It’s a good thing you’re starting early.
About an hour into the weeding, Hideyoshi stops by with a tray of cool water and a wide straw hat. He kneels beside you. “You know it’s bad for your skin to be exposed to sunlight for so long. Even in the morning, you can’t -” He stops midword, his mouth hanging open.
“Hm?” You look up, dusting your hands off. Before you can ask anything else, Hideyoshi grabs your elbow.
“What is this?”
You realize he’s pointing at the serpent tattoo on your forearm. The snake curls over itself in a complex circle, with the head pointing at your wrist and the tale toward your elbow. “Oh! Erm,” you give an embarrassed laugh. “That.”
“I knew you couldn’t be trusted.” Hideyoshi holds your arm up, inspecting it. “A thief. I should have guessed. What prefecture is this? Where are you really from?” The questions come lightning fast, his usual gentle lecturing tone replaced with a hard, brittleness that does not suit him at all.
“A thief? Are you serious right now?” You try to yank your arm back, going from bewildered to angry.
Hideyoshi pulls you up to standing. “If you won’t answer my questions, maybe you’ll answer Mitsuhide’s.” He glares at you. “I can’t believe I - I called you my sister!”
You take a breath, trying to hold in the tears suddenly threatening at the corners of your eyes. Sister. Why was this man so infuriating? First putting you in the sis-zone, and now accusing you. As if you hadn’t shared so many sweet moments. Almost-kisses. Holding hands. “Why are you freaking out about my tattoo?”
“It marks you as a criminal.” He sighs, looking away. “If you’ll come clean with me, maybe we can -”
“Come clean? Hideyoshi, I told you I’m not from here. In my ah, my village, people get tattoos because they like the way they look.” You wiggle your arm in his grasp. “This one means the cycle of life. Birth and death. Look at it!”
Hideyoshi slowly turns back to examine the mark on your arm. “It is . . . very finely done for a - a punishment.” He purses his lips. “And I do not know of a prefecture that uses a snake . . .”
You nod emphatically. “Exactly. And you know me. Hideyoshi?” Your tone brings his gaze to your face.
He studies you for a moment. Then his grip loosens on your arm, the pad of his thumb stroking your inked flesh. “I may have, um, jumped to conclusions. My apologies.” A breath, then, “Sis.”
“Thanks.” You take your arm back, feelings still hurt.
For a long moment, neither of you says anything. Then he drapes an arm over your shoulder, pulling you to his side. “Let me apologize properly, after work tonight. Stop by after your bath and I’ll rub some oil on your arms and legs.” Hideyoshi’s cheeks hold a faint heat. “A brother should care for his sister when she’s working so hard.”
You know he knows there’s nothing brotherly in the touches you share, but you nod in acquiescence. Then you pull away. “The garden won’t weed itself,” you say.
He grins. “I suppose not.” Hideyoshi’s hand takes yours before you can take a step. “It’s nice. Your tattoo. Once I really looked at it.”
“Thanks,” you smile back, feeling a little better. “I’m looking forward to my massage tonight.” You give him a cheeky wink.
Masamune
You splash to the river’s surface, sputtering from the water in your mouth and nose. Masamune laughs beside you, his strong arm holding you up above the roiling surface of the water as the current pushes you both downstream.
“Maybe next time we should look for a bridge,” you shout to be heard over the river.
“Nah. Where’s the fun in that?” Masamune’s blue eye gleams with unfettered joy as he pulls you toward the opposite shore.
Once you hit the bank and crawl out, you flop back onto the grassy hillside. “Fun? Not drowning is fun. And now I’m soaked.” You glance over to see Masamune already stripping down, laying his clothes out to dry.
He grins when he sees your expression. “What’s the matter, kitten? Tiger got your tongue?”
“Pffft.” You sit up, ignoring the way your face heats. You shrug out of your kimono, very aware of how thin your linen underclothes are. Especially now that they are wet and clinging to your skin.
Masamune’s appreciative look does not help. He grins unapologetically. “I should come out this way more often. Great view.”
You throw a clump of grass at him and jump up to run. He chases you, laughing, and catches you pretty quickly.
His laughter stops with a sharp inhale. “Are you hurt?”
You realize that he’s noticed the ink on your side, a tiger in the midst of peonies. The red, pink, and orange probably look like a wound beneath the opaque cloth. “No, nothing like that.” You carefully tug the linen up to show him your tattoo.
“Wow.” His eye is wide as he takes in the art piece. “Gorgeous.” His calloused finger brushes the skin on your side, sending a shiver across your belly and up your ribcage. “It’s like a painting.”
“Thanks.” You feel more than a little self conscious, but also gratified by his reaction. “It’s supposed to be, like, fragility and strength? Together?” You find yourself a little tongue tied, too focused on his warm hand touching you.
Masamune finally looks up, catching your gaze. “It fits you, kitten. Strong and fragile.” His expression is more serious than you’re used to. A deeper emotion moves in the depths of his blue eye.
The urge to kiss him is strong, but you resist. You tug the cloth back down and step away, heart beating frantically. Masamune likes to flirt, you think, that’s all. You wrack your brain for a witty comment and come up empty.
He smiles, drops his hands. “Our clothes should dry out soon, and then we can continue on.”
“The temple better be awesome. You’ve talked it up too much to take anything less than.” Your destination is safer ground, you think, jumping right into the new topic.
Masamune laughs. “There’s not another like it anywhere.” Something about the way he says it makes you wonder if he means the temple you’re traveling to or something else.
“Worth the trip then?”
He catches a bit of your damp hair and twirls it around a finger. “I’d say this trip is already worth it.”

Ok- ok- what if- like ikesen/vamp we had a timetraveler for prince and villain
How would that work?- I have an idea-
For ikepri, I was thinking you are a historian working with scientists to figure out time travel. Your interest, well the four kingdoms of Rhodinite, Obsidian, Bennonite, and Jade.
Let's say here historically someone else chose Leon, while Gilbert, Silvio, and Keith took the throne of their respective kingdoms.
So, you were sent back in time. Your goal is to make a historical impact and/or have a letter sent to them in the future to show you have made it and weither or not you would return.
Your life started three years before the main game (because Rio needs to survive). You have a little house and farm, with some seeds from the future along with some other things.
You still worked at that bookstore, since money is important here. But you also had a side hustle of your garden's greens.
Rio: you still saved Rio from the verge of death. It was two months into your stay into the past. He often spent time helping you out with surviving. It was nice for you both to do something so fulfilling and made so many happy. He was allways quite curious about what you hid in your secret chest, but understood that you had secrets too.
Getting selected as Bell wasn't was you were expecting at all. But hey- it works. Why? That historical impact and the fact you changed the future with it. You had a history book with the possible times you could've went to (Sengoku Era Japan, 18th century Paris(?), and of course 1??? Rohdinite).
So far, only thibg that has changed is that your name was added to the history books instead if the one who was originally Bell.
You already had the Bell contact memorized front to back so when Sarel asked you to sign it, you did, no hesitation. Witch earned some teadeing from the man, before you recited the entire contract to his shagrin.
Next is IkeVil
You were training a new recruit to the present-day crown. He had the curse of the white rabbit. So, in the midst of your training, he accidentally sent you down a rabbit hole to 19th/20th century England.
You ended up meeting William by literally falling into his arms. Well, you don't exactly meet everyone by literally catching them from the sky. So, he took you to the crown because something about you was... differnt.
What would that be?
Well, nothing other than your curse, of course!
Along with wearing pants as a woman. And oh, so many more mysteries you had on your person.
Here, you end up as the fairy tale keeper still, but I think your curse can very much depend on what route you are on.
William: Curse of the Little Mermaid (ability: able to breathe underwater personality: childish, curious, selfless fate: will one day disappear into thr depths of the ocean)
Harrison: Curse of the Snow Queen (ability: able to see the worst in people personality: cold and pessimistic fate: betrayed)
Liam: Curse of the Phantom (Phantom of the Opera)(ability: able to map out any biulding when stepping into it personality: creative, obsessive, outcast fate: to be alone or die in a fire)
Elbert: Curse of the Beauty (Beauty and the Beast)(ability: to tell ones true character by looking them in the eye personality: kind, clever, ambitious fate: to be outcasted)
Alfons: Curse of the witch (various) (ability: to fly personality: chaotic, judgemental, protective fate: to be killed by many)
Rodger: Curse of Gretel (ability: can follow crumbs to safety personality: stubborn, childish fate: burnt alive)
Jude: the curse of Rumplestiltskin (ability: to create whatever is asked for our of something else personality: cunning, strict, manipulative fate: to be thrown to their death)
Ellis: the curse of the Piper (the pied piper of hamelon) (ability: able to enchant living things to follow them by playing/singing a tune, diffent tune draws differnt audiences personality: kind, spiteful, cunning fate: to drown alone)
Victor: Curse of the Wizard (the wonderful wizard of OZ)(ability: to create illusions of what the seer fears personality: clever fate: to be abandoned)
Darious: the curse of the Little match girl (ability: to create illusions of desire with fire personality: sweet, emathetic, loyal fate: to die in the cold)
Nika: Curse of the hunter (because future bitchesssss)
Ring: Curse of the nightingale (ability: to heal all those who listen to their song personality: kind, stubborn fate: to be replaced and abandoned)

Here is my persona/oc for ikesen. So another Morgan!
Tumblr media
They are definitely known as a forginer(assumed to be European). But since they have been helpful to the Oda, it slides, along with them being adaptable and respectful of the culture.
They help Mitsunari out as much as they can (at the very least, they eat with him and make sure he sleeps. They also make sure Mitsuhide sleeps)
They were also tortured by Mitsuhide and Mitsunari to read, history, and fighting. Basic survival in a different area/time

I put my testimoni about Touken Danshi that i got in new year. Based on history, he used to belong to Nobunaga. He is the sword that used by Nobunaga for seppuku. Funfact, he is Ranmaru's sword. He always proud to be Nobunaga's sword, making him feel denial about having me as his owner. I feel sad too but that's the history goes on. I always encourage him by inviting him playing Basara and Nioh. Nobunaga is so popular. If the history changed, perhaps Nobunaga wouldn't be the popular one (although there is a posible to make him popular but it has different timeline and perhaps Fudou and the other sword would disappear)
I also play IkeSen to help my sister, Narumi. Poor she can't hold her shyness which ended by flustered a lot. I also flustered seeing Ranmaru-san, i mean... i never expect to see him looks so cute.

I haven’t drawn “inserting history facts into [fandom] context” silly comics in a while, I think. Unless the monkey lucky charm one counts.
“Actual history” (or, at least the data we have as of now) being wildly different from Ikesen makes for very very funny scenarios if you import them in.
This particular letter that I based this exchange from is extra funny because:
1) You have “pirates” (the Mouri) whining about there being other pirates
2) The person who shared the letter’s content said Hideyoshi kind of sounded prickly in it (and that Nobunaga was much nicer LOL)
Ikesen-Hideyoshi actually does still talk like a thug every now and then, in the JP app. He doesn’t do this in Eng, I think, he just talks normally the whole time. I don’t think he even talks like a thug back when he was still a thug, in the flashback in his route? I forgot, LOL.
So, the real history trivia. Somewhere in like... 1568-1570 or so (because Motonari is still alive), there were “pirates” in the Tanba area, which are hindering the Mouri’s activities. Since that area was “sort of” Oda territory, they sent messengers to Nobunaga about it.
It’s just that the Oda were only given authority as they were in favour with the shogun, so they can’t just walk in there and kick out the pirates. They had to ask for permit from the shogun first (it’s Yoshiaki, which makes everything even funnier in Ikesen terms).
In addition to other war stuff they were tangled up in, it sounds like the Mouri were, you know, a bit anxious for updates and Hideyoshi was responding saying “everything is fine (it’s actually not fine), we’ll get to it soon”.
Hideyoshi was the contact person to talk with the Mouri, but the people Hide talks to is actually the senior vassals and Motonari’s sons, and the one talking directly to Motonari far as I can tell was Nobu himself, but you know. Funnier to just have him yell at Motonari in the drawing.

my ikemen OCs
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i’m happy to finally introduce my three ikemen ocs: aimée, beatrice and kiara ♡
i plan on doing a proper profile post for each of them in the future, but for now i have these chibi-style drawings (which i really loved to do, they look so adorable imo) and i’ll put a few more info about them below the cut!
Tumblr media
they aren’t the “mc”. the games’ default mc exists, followed the path of one of the routes (mai - nobunaga, emma - leon, mitsuki - napoleon) and are friends with my oc from their respective universe!
they all have a beauty mark in different places (only bc i love beauty marks heheh)
✿ aimée
universe: ikesen
love interest: ieyasu
personal style: elegant and casual chic
colors: (all shades of) red and golden
quick background: what if sasuke and mai weren’t the only ones to travel through time during that storm? just like mai arrived years after sasuke, aimée arrived 1 year after “nobunaga’s route” events
random fact: she misses wearing modern-day clothes, so she frequently asks mai to make some for her (even though she only wears them indoors)
✿ beatrice
universe: ikepri
love interest: yves
personal style: cute and romantic
colors: lavender and blush pink
quick background: beatrice is a noblewoman from a less influent family in rhodolite. because of that, she often felt left out by other noblewomen her age and became quick friends with emma in a ball during emma’s stay in the palace as belle
random fact: she plays the piano and often asks yves to play the violin to duet with her
✿ kiara
universe: ikevamp
love interest: isaac
personal style: trendy and sexy
colors: petroleum blue and sage green
quick background: you know this saying that says that history tends to repeat itself? that’s exactly the case here! a few months after mitsuki, another young woman ends up walking though comte’s door and finds herself in a mansion full of vampires
random fact: when kiara first arrived at the mansion, the streaks on her hair were pink. but with time the color faded, leaving her with her (now) trademark white streaks
Tumblr media
tag list: @keithsandwich ♡ @olivermorningstar ♡ @queengiuliettafirstlady ♡ (ty guys for the interest in my ocs!)
