Things in life are improving. I have a busy weekend ahead of me (hubby's work Christmas party tonight, tomorrow we're going out to the lake tomorrow for a holiday event, and then we have a friendsmas party) but I am planning to get back here next week.

1: What fic of yours would you recommend to someone who had never read any of your work? (In other words, what do you think is the best introduction to your fics?)

had to sit and PONDER this one and I honestly think its 'a matter of the heart' for a few reasons

that fic has all my writing strengths in it- heavy on the hurt/comfort, heart to hearts, character exploration, some romance, and some humour. its also a proper story- it has a beginning, middle, and an end- so it showcases my story-writing ability rather than just my scene-writing ability. its also fairly long, at 16k, so it gives you a lot of space and time to work with and get a feel for my writing style

im currently working on a multichapter Garashir fic! it was gonna be 4 chapters, its now gonna be 5, and im working on chapter 4 atm. the basic premise of this fic is "what if these two were stuck in a The Ascent type situation" and im having the time of my life writing it

id love to share a snippet of it! here ya go, in which being trapped and injured on an inhospitable planet won't stop these two from bitching about each other's literature-

The tailoring skills of Doctor Frankenstein himself.”  That brings Julian up short. “His tailoring skills?” He asks. Garak throws him a look back over his shoulder, “The monster was stitched together, was he not?” He asks in turn, “Fine tailoring indeed, considering he had to hold together and also be entirely mobile. I’d rather like to learn which stitches Doctor Frankenstein used on his creation. It could be helpful in my business.” He muses, looking back at the path ahead as he picks over another cluster of stones. okok SO dragon city is an app i had when i was probably like 9-12 but have revisited since. i started playing again this time last year for nostalgia purposes, but have stuck w it to kill time. and it's really good for that!! a lot of mobile games under that genre become unplayable pretty quickly without money.

what's rlly cool is there are abt 2000 dragons u can get (tho i suspect many are only available thru money but whatever) AND I CURRENTLY HAVE 322 >:) and they're all so cute!!!! the graphics and art style is very comforting to me and there's a cool ranking system among dragons that dictate how strong they are in battle and IT'S JUST SO COOL

SO I’m slowly I think coming out of a wip drought bdjnfnggny I kinda went a while without having any inspiration driving me to do anything… but LATELY im getting IDEAS AGAIN and writing them down/rereading my ideas notes app I forgot I had l o l.

It’s pretty much all twst stuff but honorable mention of something that technically is a wip and not just an idea- for dndads there’s a kiss prompt I basically put on the back burner for now bc I Got Too Nervous and stuck on. i just have my cane atm. i dont have the money for anything else and honestly it was the cheapest thing i could get off amazon that was functionable. its a metal foldable cane, great for travel and im in the process of painting it ^^

never thought about it, but im open to name suggestions, that sounds fun tbh

im not sure. i think a lot about a wheelchair or motor chair but i also like using my legs so im currently just happy with my cane.

☔ - how did you choose what type(s) of mobility aid to get?

you think about which one best suits your needs (and price range) and how you intent to function with it. if your legs and back just need support when you walk, a walking stick, cane, crutches or something similar might be better for you, if theres days where you have too much trouble walking then something with a seat and wheels might be better for you instead. and you dont always have to stick to just one either, you could have multible because your body's needs fluctuate depending on the day. not every person who uses a wheelchair is stuck to a wheelchair etc

🌵 - what's something you wish more people knew about using your type(s) of aids?

if i had to pick something for more people to know about canes its that they arent always a comfortable walking stick, leaning on them can really hurt your shoulder after a while, its hard not having both your hands available when youre walking with a cane. sometimes its really awkward, when you set it aside and lean it against something for a minute theres no guarantee it'll stay. im always fumbling with my cane and having to bend down in pain just to pick it up again. as much as they help they can be annoying or even frustrating at times. (that does not mean having it isnt worth the trouble, the assistance it gives me is VERY worth it. im very thankful to be pacing myself and alleviating some of the pain off my back with it)

oh my god this is hard. ok um. sure lets get into niche hobby drama. so context of like. im into ball jointed dolls. and there r basically two sides to people that collect them- the people who collect resin dolls and the people who collect vinyl ones. THE REST UNDER A CUT BC UM. I TYPED A LOT.

when u narrow in on the vinyl doll side of things, u have 2 companies that are MASSIVE:

Volks (who makes dollfie dream) (example to the left) and Smart Doll (example to the right):

so like. w that context. these dolls are like HUNDREDS of USD (the one on the right is over 500 USD and the one on the left is a limited one who like. god i do not wanna think abt the price but was prob about the same at retail) (this is a ton of context and im sorry if im like. mansplaining this or wtv i just wanna give enough context for my rant of rage). people are insanely stuck up about this, acting like oh this brand is WAY better when like. virtually it is VERY tiny differences (ie skin tone range, cost, quality, etc).

BUT. unpopular opinion time as i feel ive hopefully given enough context:

so people that own either of these are like. again. very acting as if you dont spend like. 400 to 500 dollars on a doll, that ur doll is like invalid (which sounds weird but the resin side of things has a similar problem and like it is SUCH a toxic hobby at times). theres a third company (and more but like. focusing on this third company for rn) involved called Parabox. their dolls are like half the price if not less, and literally. anyone ive seen that owns one just lets like. lambasted with "oh they're lower quality" etc. so like for context, i have held both and the poseability is not that different. smart dolls have like. a very very limited range of mobility for how much they cost. u would think they could like. charge ur phone or smth for how much they cost and how people act about them but the joints um. suck. big time. dollfie dreams like depend on the model but u have to like. yank the arm socket out for one of them to even get it to be double jointed (as in being able to touch the dolls face. if that makes sense. i hope im not like using over complicated terms or anything but im just like. going for it). with the parabox dolls, theyre double jointed w magnetic feet (which is not smth the other ones have). but people act as if theyre like lower quality or smth bc its like. an insanely elitist hobby of "oh you didnt spend 1k usd on a doll and instead bought one thats cheaper? u suck and i am excluding u". but people act like if you dont get the popular brands that you literally just might as well die and its such an unpopular opinion to like prefer the cheaper ones but um. people are literally insane in this hobby

as for godot i think its complicated, i think what they were going for really is interesting. but its the type of thing where if you're going to do it you kind of need to absolutely nail it and they definitely left stuff to be desired in terms of execution. I think godot is definitely a pretty interesting character, but hes also definitely not my favourite

yeah im a big fan of the aai2 fantranslation, although if i had a little more coding knowledge i’d definitely uhhhh. hack it a bit to change some aspects that i dont enjoy as much. dgs is also rly good and are becoming super accessable realllll soon which is rly excited :) im playing dgs mobile rn and its such a delight (i say. being stuck on the same case for the last month and half)

and yeah. i think godot definitely lacked in execution. i think i liked him more immediately post bttt when i was still riding the high of finishing the trilogy, but like. from a distance he kind of lets you down. he should have gotten more retribution for his misogyny bc ultimately the lesson he learns is.... phoenix is worthy of respect?? which isnt. exactly the point that should have been made when mia is RIGHT there and he just. ignored her. i think that’s probably a problem thats due to the writers being misogynistic though like i dont know how much they themselves disagree w godot you know? bc diego is supposed to be like. when he was good but i find him MORE irritating than godot bc at least godot was funny you know. diego is just irritating w the way he calls mia kitten and stuff. that whole case is a misogyny moment though between diego bratworth and like. framing DAHLIA as the villain there when the terry fawles was like. definitely grooming her.
