In the same vein as that post about swapping all of the men characters with all women in a fantasy world to make a point about the lack of women with agency in a story or game or what have you, I really do think you need to dispense with the idea that only really young people do things. I get that a lot of fantasy careers are supposed to be dangerous and that folks don't last long in those lines of work etc but can you really tell me that there isn't a single adventurer or pirate or sword for hire or whatever over the age 35? Why are the only people in their 50s and up blacksmiths and wizards and stuff. You know how people who are really experienced gained that experience? OVER TIME. Oh? You mastered your stealth and combat skills and have been a seasoned expert for years long enough to gain a reputation? And you're only 20? So, you started doing this stuff at like 15 or have you only been at it a year or two? Come on

I have finals going on that I'm deeply unprepared for and my dnd group is getting together for a new, likely multi-year campaign tomorrow, so ofc I drew out the character I'd like to play for the campaign after that earlier today

they're a little guy who's best friends with a rat. the two of them have a secret code (kinda like morse code), and since the rat can speak and they can't he usually acts as their interpreter. also the rat INSISTS he's actually a prince from a long-forgotten kingdom who was cursed to live as a rat, princess and the frog style

I really want to play as them sometime -- maybe not just in a oneshot though, I have a bad habit of giving my pcs storied and depressing backstories and this guy isn't an exception LOL

if/when I get the time, I'd like to paint over this sketch digitally to add more patches to their poncho and a tartan pattern to their scarf and dress :> I want them to have a kind of "patchwork" look

so I’m trying to move cause this apartment sucks, and my dad suggested I see if my aunt (who is also my godmother) would let me move in with her, cause she’s got a big house and she’s been living alone since her husband (my uncle and godfather) died. and she lives a bit far from work but not terribly inconvenient, and she loves me and likes animals so neither me nor my bird would be unwelcome housemates.

and like trying to move I’ve shifted some priorities cause I’ve realized I don’t actually like living in the city proper and I would like to have trees and nature around and yknow not have my home be a mice-infested basement with no climate control with the entrance off a back alley that’s filled with dead rats and broken glass.

and it is taking everything in me to not just cave and ask her if she wants a housemate asap. she’s retired, she’ll love my bird, and I will be the best resident ever if she would have me.

but she’s also 30-40 mins out of the city with no public transit that goes to the city, and my car just absolutely shit the bed so I would have to get a car and/or figure out borrowing one from her or another family member

but also. cheap rent and guaranteed meals and in-house laundry and a big house with a big yard and a big garden and also I’m genuinely worried about my aunt living alone as she gets older so like???????? I’m very very very tempted.
