Hey fuck it i choose chaos tonight. Controversial AA Ships and my opinions (all these are being treated as romantic ships):

Krisnix- great to observe. Horrific for them to be in. It is a terrible choice for Phoenix to make but it is one I am certain he did in fact make. It's also a fundamentally very interesting dynamic

Narumaya- I don't hate it as much as a lot of people though pre JFA it's gross because shes underage and I don't like the age gap. I don't always think thats whats going threw shippers heads with it. It just really strikes me as basic. Just seeing a male and female protagonists and presuming they have to be dating. It reeks comphet. If you want Nick to be straight Iris is right there you know. Also canon is pretty explicit about it being a sibling relationship.

Klema- OK, I don't think it's a thing but like... it is very very funny in concept. Idk I could see my girl being down for some hate fucking. So maybe but only if she straps him.

Junipollo- again not loving that age gap but there is canon backing at least from. Junipers side. I think it's a one sided crush but there's are worse

Oldbag x Edgeworth- actively dislike. It feels like people are giving a pass to a woman sexually harassing a man

Edgeworth x Kay, Edgeworth x Trucy, Phoenix x Trucy- I never understood the concept of a notp until I heard this was a thing. I find these actively disgusting and I feel like I don't need to explain why. Kayworth is marginally better but it's still a relationship that pretty canonly discussed as being a parental one and it's still fucking disgusting to me. Ew ew no

Edgeworth X Ema- ew. I get she had a crush on him but like. I feel like it don't need to explain why them dating is problematic

Cykesquill- before I played DD I kinda got it. Like they're really close. Then I played DD found out the age gap and also found out that their mother's were canonically at least a one sided thing and now this is 1000% a sibling thing to me and I find it gross

Apollo x Phoenix- I like don't have an explanation of why I don't like it, the age gaps not great but there's waaaay worse on this list, but it just gives me the ick

Larriska- come on man my girl deserves so much better than him.

Apollo x athena- eh, fine. I don't vibe with it but the age gap isn't that bad, they both met as adults even if athena is barely one and they do have a fun dynamic even if it feels like a sibling on to me to me, its way less one than some of the others here.

i know i talk big talk about the queerphobia in this fandom but at some point someone remind me to make an in depth analysis post about the ageism in this fandom. I’m not like mad or anything- I like to try to be chill about things, but I swear EVERY time people find out I’m not in my 30s or up I’m looked at completely differently. It’s incredibly fascinating and frustrating because even some of my closest friends in this fandom do it time to time. (No hate ofc usually when I point it out it gets corrected) but it’s absolutely fascinating to me. Is it that RARE for someone to be younger then 30 in this fandom? And if so, WHY does it matter so much when fandom itself is curated by the user? Like. I’m not 8 years old stop treating me like I am. Just because I don’t like reading about dick doesn’t mean I can’t talk about it.

I’m 20. By the way. In America. I’m not even old enough to drink legally in my state.

Also, genuinely curious of someone has an answer: is it actually that shocking for someone to be a young adult in this fandom, or even a teenager or hell, a child? I’m very curious WHY there’s always a double take when I bring up my age, and WHY people generally treat me a little- shall I say- “dumber”- like I have less understanding of the world.

some fake peppy thoughts ive been having :)

ok for me. as much as i enjoy fake peppino funny beast memes. its really important to Me to limit how animalistic it is usually. because part of the uncanny nature is how its something inhuman trying VERY HARD to be human, and specifically to be peppino. so like. fake peppino should seem like an aliens idea of a person. so then when you juuust start getting used to it and the idea of 'ok this is a guy.. a weird guy but fundamentally still a person-' it does something wildly inhuman like dislocates its jaw to swallow a whole rat. and it shatters the entire comfort zone you'd built around him. its neither

i think fake is cute in my weird monsterloving way but its also so vital for me that he is FREAKY. in the same way a bird mimicking human speech is uncanny. or a speechless horror movie villain wearing someones face is. i love him as a vessel for existential horror relating to doppelgangers

like to me. fake peppino doesnt have a real concept of right or wrong and would probably try to kill peppino less after the games events, he still definitely has animalistic vibes (i think it absolutely attacks anything that bolts and runs or screams at it. predatory instinct) and it still does messed up unsettling things on the regular. i think peppino thinks its trying to eat him and hes probably right. he keeps waking up with its face pressed to his window. is it trying to be his double or take his place?

why do i still see posts complaining abt how kylo ren was “wasted potential” bc they didn’t “commit” to him being a neofascist fuckboy? like - he was never meant to be. and they also DID touch on that and show growth beyond that.

catch me DEAD defending the sequel trilogy but here we have ben, a character who was DESPERATELY trying to be dark sided, to rebel against his parents and against his uncle he felt slighted by, and also brainwashed by the voices in his head (good fuckboi commentary to me!) but despite all that, he was constantly pulled to the light. that was his “flaw”. he was incapable, at his core, of being a fully fledged dark-sided character! which was SO fucking interesting and unique and original!! we’ve never seen that before! his journey into accepting his light sided nature is trigged by han giving up his very life out of love and selflessness, and by leia (who was obviously supposed to interact w him in the third film but carrie passed), who also spoke his name on her last breath. ben then allowed rey, the strong female character, to “kill” him, thus being reborn. like on a surface level analysis, does that not satisfy the fuckboi to decent human being pipeline enough?

then you have rey, chipper and optimistic rey, who is good natured and well meaning but somehow always pulled to the dark by her ancestry and her confusion over her place in the galaxy/saga. the sequel trilogy failed their dynamic by not beating the audience over the head with this honestly beautiful & twisted dynamic of star wars mains. we’ve never seen it before and it was fumbled too much to really pack a punch. but it was there.

so no, ben was never meant to be a super evil one-dimensional nazi lol. we already have palpatine. and for this specific trilogy, those shoes were meant to be filled by hux (who was also mishandled bc they made him a teehee funny spy???? diminishing his frankly terrifying speech in the first film). ben was meant to foil rey.

esp for someone like oz who has identity crisis going on for him that he doesn't really care who he is as a person so long as it makes others happy (the way later he could care less if people see him as jack the hero rather than just oz)

also idk it never crossed my mind while i was rereading, but i love that this is just in chapter 2 -- that things would go bad if oz should ever lose sight of himself

bc that's the gist of oz's whole character arc, inching away from just being whatever people want him to be, shying away from his emotions, and accepting himself and what it means to be himself - emotions and past - alike.
