reading nick and norahs infinite playlist for da 1st time bc last time I read it I only skimmed several parts when I was 12 and it's INSANE the way they're written, totally more neurotic and self-deprecating than they are in the movie. and people will probably think jayce (THE GOLDEN BOY, MAN OF PROGRESS in the eyes of piltover) died trying to fight him bc no one knows what their conversation was about before they went out, or how jayce was willing to sacrifice himself too because he shares blame in it all, so theyll likely just villainize viktor for that as well, 'the one who killed jayce talis- creator of hextech'

and no one is alive to mourn him :( so fucking depressing

also i dont blame jayce for 'taking all the credit' like some people do lol ive seen ppl say he was egotistical and taking it all in for himself and pushing viktor aside, but he literally always says viktor is his partner and never implies that HE ALONE developed hextech or that hes the sole creator in it all

like its always been 'OUR inventions' and 'my PARTNER' and 'WE created this' whenever jayce talks about hextech. he literally corrects viktor from "your [jayce's] hextech dream" to "our hextech dream" the very first night they partner up bc, despite knowing this man for maybe 4 hours max, he already recognizes the importance of their partnership and that hes not the sole idea-man in this project anymore

i think that whole negative idea was probably developed from jayce signing every single page in his notes,, but itd make more sense to me that he'd do that- not out of arrogance- but he might share the same fear that viktor has: in being forgotten for his work... so he signs every page making sure no one can take a piece out of context and pass it as their own years down the line, or erase the possibility that forget the origin of the creator, especially in a world where a species like yordels are seemingly immortal, names hold a lot of weight as time withers tangible things away

and im assuming jayce recognizes that the fact that being from the undercity could have easily silenced viktor's ideas and contributions in the eyes of the public, and jayce doesnt want to diminish his work towards it. two very important lines jayce hears from viktor that night are "do you think i want to spend my whole life as an assistant" and "a poor kid from the undercity, no one believed in me, i was an outcast the moment i stepped foot in piltover" and he probably took those to heart (paraphrasing those quotes bc i have the memory of a goldfish or smth)

i feel like its moreso piltover to blame (? imo) lmao they set up jayce as the golden boy, and piltover is all about names and status and wealth. they very obviously discriminate against zaunites (and viktor himself states that too) like yeah we dont see the whole process of The Man of Progress being made,, BUT viktor expresses how he doesnt want to go out in front of people in Progress Day, so jayce is very much just respecting his wishes and boundaries to not drag him up there when hes clearly uncomfortable at the thought yk?

viktor might also recognize himself that piltover will use his knowledge as a celebrity idol for people to look at rather than as an actual scientist for people to acknowledge and appreciate. he wants to be known for what he did, not a soulless face for people to gawk at. makes sense tho, irl u usually dont remember celebrity actions unless theyre negative, but you do remember scientist's accomplishments rather than what they look like

ppl bring up the hexgate blueprints at the end and how it only has Jayce's name on it as another argument and idk i feel like it has multiple things to stem off that before getting to the 'jayce took credit for everything' idea?

maybe they were changed after the whole cult incident, like viktor's name taken off, which yeah thats obviously depressing in itself. i think its more likely bc piltover wont want their whole gimmick to be associated with that incident, rather than jayce purposefully leaving viktor's name out of it... thats probably the strongest explanation imo. we gotta remember viktor is quite literally jayce's best friend- do you really think jayce would take away his best friend's accomplishments like that? lets be real yall HAHA

my own guess is that jayce was actually the sole designer in the hexgate design, and while they can share custody, maybe viktor doesnt take credit for things that werent his ? like yeah they worked on the hextech ideas together but it could be more like jayce drew up the plans and viktor helped with the science of it idk, but thatd explain why only jayce's name would be on it (in a non depressing way that kind of makes sense), bc jayce designed the hexgates specifically

anyway i think blaming jayce for viktor's erasure is kind of - uhm -stupid because jayce has always made it his goal to not just save viktor but to include viktor every time he brings up hextech in conversation, whether it calls for his mention or not. because jayce knows drilling viktor's name association as co-contributer to hextech into the heads of other people is important, considering viktor's background, and jayce's own current social status as the golden boy: the leverage he holds when he speaks. people will listen lol

it basically all comes down to implications, and forming interpretations based on reality while taking several factors into account. for example, wallter always acts extremely formal and polite, which is a facade that clearly breaks when he talks to people he genuinely doesnt like, like unpleasant and mark, where hes suddenly incredibly rude while still keeping that same formal tone that never wavers. i know people who act like that in real life and they are fake ass bitches who would say the most hurtful words anyone has ever said to you with a kind smile on their face.

plus yeucc has said that wallter is canonically a really selfish and self absorbed person. plus there is dialogue between wallter and drretro (my favorite) where wallter asks drretro about how her career as a doctor is and she replied "the best part is being able to help so many people 😸" and wallter just went "...well, the money is nice as well!"

another reason why i interpret him as such a deeply violent person though is mainly because i dont think he feels much empathy for others nor himself, and has a really fucked up worldview.

this is because of the fact that wallter seems to love and care about concrete more than any living person, and he is also completely oblivious or seems to just not care about the changed his body is having, instead seeing it as a positive thing.

like, you can joke all you want about wallter not having anything in his house except for concrete and some wonderbread, but knowing that hes a ceo and HAS MONEY to get a nicer place, that would be horrid in re life. we KNOW this is an active choice of his to live in such inhumane conditions, especially supported by an idle dialogue saying that he's not one for interior decoration.

so, there seems to be a consensus, as far as ive seen, that chapter 3 is kind of weak. my own take is... i think mr tenna is just a little unfocused.

however, i kinda saw the whole chapter as a silver platter designed to house one line: susie's "nothing pisses me off more than people who don't tell the whole story". (paraphrasing from memory.) that single line firmly attached a ticking time bomb around ralsei's neck, and we got to see it go off in chapter 4.

that's what stuck with me.

that, and... when i visited the store page, i saw the bullet points for the game again, for the first time in a long time. "only 1 ending…?"

im pretty sure i saw toby say this a few times since ch1, too. "the game only has one ending" src: some tweet probably. but snowgrave implies there's more than one ending. chapter 4 showed us that susie refuses to accept the one ending. gerson seems to believe there's a path between the lines of the golden path. im wondering where that will go. im curious what these chapters look like from a snowgrave save

what do you think Bellion does besides standing around, talking sometimes and fighting? trying to imagine him doing anything is so hard for me..

I think for the most part he would spend his time training and teaching other shadows how to fight just so no one is unprepared when Jinwoo has to call them out to fight. However another trait that I think suits him the most is reminicense? What I mean to say is that he, having been a long time shadow, one of the first and closes to the monarchs, I think he would try to find a way to preserve records of his own expiriences in war or just about the king he has/is serving. Maybe he would write up biografies in the mean time or learn about the lives of the other shadows before they integrated into the army of the dead.

There is this quote from the book that I'm paraphrasing here, or maybe its an implied element in the story itself im not sure, but it said that all the shadows became more human as they spend more time under Jinwoo. So it got me thinking that these things, as well as even the whole fighting and training, would be a fairly recent thing for Bellion, just as maths was for Igris and (K drama or Beru lol). Maybe before Jinwoo they really just acted like shadows, moving around and never having much of conciousness of their own unless when called to battle. I think Bellioon might have been the most 'shadow-like' as well considering how since birth the only things fruits from the world tree are meant to be is just new soldiers.

But maybe post his reurection and the management of Jinwoo, Bellion kinda understood how the memories of the past might be useful in their own way. While he doesnt seem like the kind of guy either to make meticulous notes on everything (frankly thats a more Igris thing) I do think he would be like the one to keep a hold of a tavern of secrets, personal acnedotes adn stories because of how much the other shadows respect him... when they are outside of duty at least. Like the thought of Bellion sharing a few cups with some of the other angels that have gone through many wars with him from the very start, idk kinda fits him for me.

Another weird headcanon I see him doing is him being surprisingly good with kids, and only because said kid is is Suho and Bellion enables literally every antic the child has.

Review of drama:

Quite interesting. I personally really like the inception style of the drama. It's a very mindfuck style drama and I like that. It's also interesting to see how the "timelines" or memory lines or whatever they are called differ when he makes different choices but still somehow relate to the main timeline. I recommend watching this drama if you prefer to be confused while watching but at the same time very intrigued by each episode. I hope you enjoy and stay tuned for another whump list soon! If we talking about HC, then sure I’ll speak your language and say that my HC for gojo is he’s more like big bro who tried what he can to support his lil bro despite gojo having unresolved issues in his upbringing.
