Yorishima is an exorcist, possessed by an ayakashi, from a family who was once powerful enough to rival the Matobas but now he's quit, but seemingly still holds some kind of disdain for Matoba. ("That Matoba brat," "Sorry for insulting your friend.")
Natori is an exorcist, possessed by an ayakashi, from a family who was once powerful enough to rival the Matobas (presumably. "There's a reason the two families don't get along,") and now he's trying to carry on their traditions but seemingly can't bring himself have any disdain for Matoba. ("Now? No. I show up to meetings, I take jobs from them..." "Does it look like this abandoned house could be rivals with the industry leader?")
Is Yorishima for Natori what Natori is for Natsume...? I'm not sure...I want to go find what Midorikawa has said about Yorishima now.
#sorry still on this lol#my meta#natori shuuichi#yorishima#the reason i brought up the possession thing is because in chapter 80 natori says something like#'when im around other people who deal with ayakashi my own problems seem small but there are still things im afraid of'#<- paraphrased from memory#that and since i had read 77 yesterday too natsumes remark 'natori-san and matoba-san are both haunted by ayakashi they don't know'#was tinting my thoughts#it seemed like yet another parallel between yorishima and natori#if matoba is natoris like...hm......is he a mirror? the wavering natori vs the ever-sneering matoba...#then maybe yorishima is a potential road natori could have gone down#idk

I don't know what to say. It was beautiful. It was everything I wanted out of the book and I am so happy. They went through with destroying his horn (just one!) and he is experiencing the long-term consequences of it. Lilia died and both Malleus and Silver brought him back with true love and a wish, because true love conquers all... Just what the original movie would have wanted 😭
And Malleus, Silver, and Sebek sobbing so much over him. He really got to find out just how much he means to them 😭😭😭 and I adore how after all this time, when Silver and Lilia finally got the chance to talk one on one, they were just talking casually about trivial things in their lives. Silver even said there was so much more they should have talked about... But that normalcy is just what they need after everything
The way Lilia still after all that time thinks so little about what he's done for Silver, asking him if he'd rather keep his blonde hair color. The way Silver was so happy to describe just how much he loves his hair and how important it is to him. Ohhhh,,,,,...,,.,,....
I really like that Silver gave away his armor. His reason for it is so him. He wouldn't want to keep a weapon that he just puts up on a wall and never uses, he wants it to be used for something important. It's such a nice way for him to give back to STYX and the island!!! He doesn't directly say it's because of the armor's association with KOD, and I think that's fine. He really made his peace with having KOD as his father, he's accepted it as part of his life now!
AND THE ADOPTION. IT'S EVERYTHING I COULD HAVE ASKED FOR!!!! Silver and Lilia are both so so. Oh my god. They mean the world to me. I can't believe Lilia's reasoning for not giving Silver his surname is the exact same reason Silver was afraid to ask for it. He didn't want to burdon his kid with the name of his "real parents" enemy. Lilia when I GET YOU. And Silver LAUGHS AT HIM FOR IT!!!! The only other time we ever see him laugh is when he's a kid!!!!! And his laugh is just as sweet now as it was back then 😭
Lilia Vanrouge's adoption of Silver Vanrouge is officially valid in the country of Briar Valley. Silver is now Lilia's true son. The game has been building us up to this moment for 5 years and I am so happy 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 Silver's profile now officially says Silver Vanrouge. I can stop tagging him as twst Silver / twisted wonderland Silver / ect and just tag him as Silver Vanrouge. I'm so happy
All the ghosts of the past got to come back to life and dance in peace with each other at last. Malleus got to meet his mother and Silver got to properly meet his parents, and we got to see Leah!!! Both Malleus and Silver got to thank their parents for protecting them so that they could live in a world with their loved ones, and got to tell them to rest in peace at last. It's sooooo sugary sweet oh my god. THIS GAME!!!!!!
#twst#twisted wonderland#malleus draconia#lilia vanrouge#silver vanrouge#book 7 spoilers#twst book 7#twst spoilers#book 7.13#it was also a surprisingly short chapter#no lead up to book 8 and it doesn't show a preview of book 8 in the story section#but it does have a note saying to wait for more content or something (paraphrasing from memory) so I'm sure we will hear about it eventuall#it's possible that grim overblots on the spot after eating Malleus' blot crystal#so if they're anticipating that then I don't blame them for not showing it yet#I love Sebek too he really was not the focus of this chapter but he was SO GOOD#I love that Sebek is really the number one Silver VANROUGE hype man. he's been dreaming about this day since he first met Silver BET#Sebek's line about Silver having to change his name to gold if he turned blonde lol 😭#and omg Silver is 18 now <3 it doesn't show it in his profile like how his profile says he's Silver Vanrouge#but he's 18.... ohhhhhh... our beautiful boy is growing <333

Was explaining a bit of dan and phil lore to my parents and when I told them that Dan basically disappeared from YouTube for 5 years I had this interaction
My mum: so do they have real jobs? How did dan earn money during that time?
Me: well phil was still doing YouTube so it’s not like they both disappeared
My mum: yes but how did dan earn money?
Me: … they live together … they have a house together
My mum: oh!! Are they together? Are they a couple?

More on Alicent and her inconsistent character in season 2:
I feel like the writers and directors forgot what and who Alicent is as a character, what she represents. From watching season 1, I'd say Alicent is a representation of the women who not only live the way the Patriarchal society wants them to live, but also openly supports the Patriarchal system and shames women who don't live by the expectation, because for them it works so it should work for every woman.
This is most evident in Alicent's treatment of Rhaenyra, constantly going out of her way to put down Rhaenyra's authority amongst the men at court and in the council. Of course, it is all for her own gain, as Rhaenyra having less power means more power for her, which comes in the form of respect from the men around her. In everything Alicent does, she's looking to make herself look more endearing to the men around her by putting down another woman who is not behaving in the typical way that a woman is expected to be.
Such as with the really strong focus on Rhaenyra having bastards, not because she's sleeping around with a lot of men, but because the man she's married with can't have children with her; Rhaenyra is having bastard children out of a necessity to have heirs, but also because it is expected of her as a woman. If she were a man, no one would've cared, which is even said in the show:
"If I were born a man, I could father a dozen bastards." - Rhaenyra Targaryen
A man can have sex with as many women as he wants and have as many illegitimate children as he'd like, but a woman can't. If she does, she's considered a whore, which is exactly what happens to Rhaenyra, and Alicent perpetuates this by further spreading the rumours of Rhaenyra's infidelity and her children's legitimacy, all for the betterment of her own cause, to make Aegon appear as a better candidate for the throne. Alicent uses the Patriarchal system to her advantage to get what she wants, to put her son on the throne.
The most important thing is that Alicent doesn't necessarily see this as wrong. I mean, look at her father, Otto Hightower, who constantly tells her that a woman could never rule, that it must be Aegon that is king, becuase he's the first born son.
"It wouldn't matter if she were Jaehaerys himself come again; she is a woman."
In his eyes, Rhaenyra could never rule on her own as a woman, and he sends this message down to his daughter. Society itself also supports him in his belief, as is evident by the Great Council of 101, where Viserys was chosen over Rhaenys to rule, the very first scene in the first episode. As every woman in the show, Alicent suffers under the Patriarchy, but she's been raised to believe that that is what's right, and any other woman who refuses to suffer the same and tries to push back against the system in anyway is wrong and should be taught better.
Alicent's loyalty to the Patriarchy is also presented through her piousness to the Faith of the Seven, a fictional religion that takes inspiration from real life Christianity. Now, we all know very well that Christianity is being used as a tool to keep women down and subservient to their husbands, encouraging them to be obedient to the men in their lives. Christianity is alos the root of purity culture, telling young girls they must remain pure and chaste maidens for their future husbands, and if they don't do so, they are harlots and whores and sinners and they will surely go to hell. Since the Faith of the Seven is so similar to Christianity, it supports a similar concept of women needing to remain pure before marriage, and Alicent would've been raised with this belief, so evidently believes it so herself. This would not only further tie into her treatment of Rhaenyra, who she believes has sullied herself by having sex outside of marriage, but also her treatment of other girls and women.
For example, Dyana, the maid that Aegon raped. While, by all means, Alicent does help her, giving her contraceptive Moon tea and money so she can get away without trouble, Alicent still helps the maid hide. It is suggested by the show that this isn't the first time Aegon's done this, yet he hasn't really been punished by the law in anyway, because he's a man, and Alicent knows this. So, the best she can do is offer Dyana (and possibly other maids that have suffered similarly) an escape from further suffering. But she also has to keep her son's actions a secret, because they are considered bad, and while Aegon won't get punished for it, it may give him a slightly bad look to the public and give Team Black something to use as proof that Aegon isn't a capable ruler, and Alicent can't have that. So, she makes sure the maids, like Dyana, don't talk of what's happened to them, paying them to get out as soon as possible. She knows she can silence them easily since their voices don't matter as mere maids, so her privilege as queen is used as well, making sure women beneath her struggle in silence.
Her perpetuating Patriarchal values is also evident with her daughter, Helaena. While she doesn't mistreat her in any matter and cares for her dearly, Alicent obviously thinks that what is bets for Helaena is for her to live by the expectations set out for women. She has her daughter married to Aegon at 13, and forces her to have children with him as a teenager. In the book, she's 14 giving birth to the twins, and in the show, assuming she's around 19 and the twins are 4, she gives birth at 15. Either way, she's far too young to be getting married and having children, but this is what society expects of her, and what Alicent pushes for, since she believes it is for the best. Alicent herself was a teenager getting married and having children young, both in the show and the book. Sure, in the book she's 18, but that is still quite young (as an 18 year old myself, I couldn't image getting married and having children), and in the show, she's about 14 getting married and 15/16 having her first child. Alicent lived by society's expectations, and it is evident in the show she doesn't enjoy it, but she believes she must, so she thinks Helaena must as well. In fact, she believes every woman must as well. She sees Rhaenyra doesn't live a life of servitude to her husband, and Alicent hates her for it, most likely being jealous of her freedom, seen most evidently first when Alicent is still young and Rhaenyra is still unmarried and refuses to marry even though she's given plenty of men to choose from while Alicent had been given no choice.
"I think it's rather romantic" - Alicent Hightower
"What's so romantic about being locked up in a castle and made to squeeze out heirs." - Rhaenyra Targaryen
Alicent is jealous of Rhaenyra's percieved freedom, of her ability to choose who to marry, who to have children with. Alicent doesn't see that Rhaneyra is still being forced to marry when she doesn't want to, she just sees the privilege of choice on who that Rhaenyra has, and she wishes she could have that, and feels that Rhaenyra is being ungrateful. As time passes, and Rhaenyra gets away with stuff women wouldn't normally get away with, such as having illegitimate children as her heirs and having an affair with the man she loves, Alicent becomes more and more jealous, and it turns into cruelty, trying constantly to put Rhaenyra down to make herself feel better; she's the one being a good woman here, she's the one following the rules that society set out for her, she she believes she is righteous in what she does. She believes women must live like her, living for the men around them and offering everything they have to men, even their ambition, or else they are wrong.
"You've gone too far!" - Rhaenyra Targaryen
"I!? What have I done but what was expected of me? Forever upholding the kingdom, the family, the law, while you flout all to do as you please! ... Where's duty? Where's sacrifice? It's trampled under your pretty foot again!" - Alicent Hightower
Alicent believes sacrifice is necessary, something women must do, and when Rhaenyra doesn't sacrifice her owns self for the men around her, Alicent believes she's not being a woman correctly, that she's behaving incorrectly because she doesn't live exactly as the Patriarchal society expects her to.
The Patriarchy requires women to sacrifice everything: their very freedom, their very rights, their very desires, all to be desirable to men, and religion is used to make women believed that these sacrifices make them righteous, that it makes them better then other women, which only strengthens the system as the women who are being oppressed support their own oppression.
This is who Alicent was in season 1, and season 2 fails to deliver this. She has sex outside of wedlock even though her religion would forbid it, and she tries to break away from what she started and tries to go back to Rhaenyra even though she hasn't been given a good reason to other than a desire for freedom from the system. While I don't believe her character arc of breaking away rom the system is bad, I feel it was badly written; it all happens far too quickly. In just a few short weeks (at best), she's gone from fully supprting her son taking the throne and being willing to make sacrifices to achieve this, to abandoning her son entirely while he's injured and longing to break away from the cage she's been trapped in for years. It's unrealistic, no one can change that quickly in a few weeks. This arc would make sense if it was more drawn out and build upon slowly. Perhaps Alicent's desire for freedom could be foreshadowed at best in season 2, and in season 3 have it fully manifest, but it being far too late for Alicent to escape and now she has to suffer with her guilt and regrets as she watches everything fall apart around her, driving her mad as she can no longer change anything, no matter how much she wants. She has build her own cage and chains, and now has no choice but to keep to them, no matter how much she hates it now.
But whatever, we shall see what season 3 will do with her character. Perhaps they'll fix up on the inconsistencies and find a way to make her character make sense in a satisfying way that somehow aligns with season 1 and 2, but we'll have to wait.
For now, I'm done.

okay so im gonna tell a story from misha's show but PLEASE don't talk about it outside of tumblr because at the end misha very sweetly and nervously said "please don't tell west i told you this story" and i figure if we only talk about it on here west will definitely never hear about it.
so at some point when west was younger misha was telling him a story before bed and somehow (i can't remember how) the subject of divorce came up like right before west was going to go to sleep and he asked misha what divorce means and when misha quickly explained it west looked like really sad about it. and misha said at the time whatever the last thing he'd talked about with west before bed was the thing that would show up in his nightmares if he had one so he quickly started to explain divorce in a way that made it sound not so bad (like how sometimes parents get divorced and the parents are much happier and it's better for the kids and you get two houses two birthday parties etc). so that was it and then the next day misha was dropping west off at school and i can't remember the exact question the teacher asked west but it was something like how was your weekend or how are you doing and west answered "it was great" and then "i hope my parents get divorced!"
then misha went on to say so now i've been going through a difficult divorce the past few years and a lot of times kids of divorce will blame themselves and think it's happening because of something they did and that's just not true. except for in west's case. he put out into the world that he wished his parents would get a divorce and then it happened!
#also this is all paraphrasing from memory so many of the details might not be exact but you get the gist of it#i would share every story he told if i could but i just don't remember all of the details enough to tell them!#i don't even remember all the stories he told actually

Oh, just for funsies, but if Epic is gonna exist in the Twst Universe, Jorgenbong Borgonbong, Mr. Jorgy Gorgy, Mr. Jimbo Pimbo, Mr. Jalapeño, is gonna be named Oulixeus Okhthe-Batos, who lives in the Kingdom of Heroes.
El is also probably going to jokingly call Idia "Captain" since he gets her into the musical, and at some point she becomes "Polites" because she's always "greeting the world with open arms" since she's always befriending (mostly) everyone whose once tried to kill her. Ortho is Telemachus. Azul is Eurylochus- not that they tell him. CrimsonMuscle- cough Lilia cough- is Hermes.
El, trying to help Ortho convince Idia to go outside: "Come on, Captain! You gotta greet the world with open arms, remember?"
Idia: "NO, I REFUSE!!!! THAT'S HOW YOU DIED!!!!!!"
El, confused: "Huh?"
Ortho, dramatically gasping: "Polites~!"
El, realizing: "NOOOOOO, WHY AM I POLITES!??? CAPTAIN, WHY!?"
Idia: "BECAUSE YOU'RE ALWAYS GREETING THE WORLD WITH OPEN ARMS. DID YOU FORGET ABOUT PLAYFUL LAND!????"
El, shooketh: "Oh my gods, the Chort was Polyphemus... oh no. No, no, no! I am Polites!"
Ortho: "Wait, who am I, then?"
Idia and El, without missing a beat: "Telemachus."
Ortho: "Oh, yay! I'm still related to Big Brother then!" :3
Idia: "Anyways, I'm not going outside. There's a Poseidon out there just waiting for me, I know it. I'm staying in here!"
El and Ortho, exasperated: "Waiting.... waiting...."
Idia, leaning back dramatically in his chair: "Nooooooooooo!"
#i should've taken screenshots or notes of this conversation but I didn't so this is just paraphrasing from my memory aslkfjdlskjfdlkjf#twst#twisted wonderland#epic the musical#epic: the musical

It's so important that Tessa immediately understands exactly what Will has going on, even if she doesn't get why he's like that. Everything is "infinitely tragic" because he's been isolated in a world of monsters since he was twelve, and everything has to be "infinitely funny" because that's the only way to avoid despair. I'm reminded of a scene in MASH where Hawkeye says "I laugh because it's the only way to open my mouth without screaming," because I really think it applies to Will as well. He finds the darkness amusing because it'll be there anyways, and at least if he laughs then he can feel something other than hopelessness.

Donmar Welcome Event 16th Jan 2024
Also went to a member's welcome event that the Donmar had, which was basically an hour where they served something to drink and told us a bit more about the theatre and the upcoming shows.
The invitation did say they'd have an exclusive tour of the place - on and off the stage - which I'd been quite excited about - but that didn't actually happen :(
Still, it was rather interesting! Learned a few things about Macbeth as well :)
Apparently, the stage stains very easily - which is why I'm baffled at how easy it apparently is to clean, but guess they must have some really lovely red dye that isn't as stainful as pretty much anything else that's dyed red. It also scratches easily - the movement on the stage can easily create little creases where the blood can get stuck.
I'd only seen the bloodbath on the floor once, so hadn't noticed, but was told that it comes up through the floor - probably why it differs so wildly each night how and where David is covered in it!
(As an aside to that - on the first night there wasn't a bloodbath - he was struck with the knife and there was a bit of blood on his shirt instead - now there's no blood at the wound)
Someone asked them about filming productions (not specifically about Macbeth - and they didn't say anything about it) and they told us about the process of deciding whether to record a production or not as it's a very costly affair to do so - which is why it's not something they just automatically do for everything.
They said that either the NT will ask them if they record a show - which means they do everything, and therefore is obviously the much cheaper option for themselves. The NT will let them know what benefits there might be in it for them - but as far as I understood they won't really earn much if anything from it.
So, the second option is for themselves to invest in filming a production by bringing in a third-party filming company that they pay for themselves. It's obviously a much more expensive way of doing it - but they'd also get more money back from it if it sells well in cinemas or online. Obviously, they have gone with the second option - so hopefully that's because they think it has really good marketing potential!
They mentioned that they are always very aware of the fact that not as many people get to see their performances as would probably like to see them - so it's always part of their considerations whether to film it or not when they create a new production.
One of them joked that they could probably keep up a production like Macbeth for three years and still sell-out - but that the theatre is known for putting on about 6 productions each year, so there's a limit to how long their runs can be - plus there's also the availability of actors to consider.
Someone asked if actors (I assume meaning, big name actors) takes a pay-cut to work with them - and yes, they do. Everyone is paid the theatre-standard no matter who they are. The only extra benefit they might offer big names is a taxi to get to the theatre and to escape back home afterwards.
Ah, yeah, think that was about it - everything else was more or less just about the upcoming productions, memberships, and other general things :)
Edit: Oh, forgot to mention that their focus will always be on the production as it's on, then on any potential transfers and then on releasing it for cinema/online - so if they filmed something it wouldn't be released until the live show is done - and sounded like they wouldn't necessarily say anything about it having been recorded (or not) until then as well. So don't think we will hear anything about the plan for it until the show is over.
#Macbeth#Donmar Warehouse#David Tennant#Cush Jumbo#This is just from memory - so yeah free paraphrasing.#Actually the part about the blood I was just lucky to hear 😅#as Silvia was talking to the two ladies standing next to me while I was nodding along and smiling 🙈#but not feeling competent enough to actually join in on the conversation 😬#She also mentioned how desperate understudies were for a chance to perform - which is of course very understandable!#but I was just thinking that if I were an understudy#I'm not sure I'd want to go on stage in DT's place 🙈#especially not for a short super popular run like this 🫣

I finished a replay of the DS version of FF4 too (after playing the SFC version). It's neat how the Japanese dialogue is almost entirely the same, except for the minor parts they added. The character thought bubbles are so much fun!
I'm obsessed with the thought bubbles in the final dungeon. It's brings some sneaky character development that fits really well, and they all get to ponder some things that there wasn't room for in the dialogue.
Cecil is trying to forgive Golbez by comparing him to Kain, then to himself. Committing atrocities on someone else's behalf: Cecil has been there, done that. Rosa is forgiving Kain. Rydia is forgiving Cecil. Lots of forgiveness to go around, and you knew the characters were thinking about these things, but it's nice to see it actually addressed.
Not surprisingly, Zemus is whispering to Kain, who is struggling with what looks more or less like intrusive thoughts: "No, I won't…" "No… I don't hate Cecil…" "No, why would I hate Rosa…" Kain has already been compromised, and he's vulnerable to this. But at the same time, Zemus doesn't have a preexisting spell on him, and this time, Kain knows what's going on. In the end, he calls Zemus out by name and tells him to get lost (actually, he tells him not to underestimate the human heart). I think it's lovely that he gets that little victory of his own.
And meanwhile, Edge--Edge is terrified. Trying and not quite succeeding in denying it even to himself. "I'm shivering from excitment. Definitely." progressing to "What am I even doing here?"
And then Zemus starts whispering to Edge, too. Which is really interesting, especially considering Rydia's line later: "It's a wonder Zemus didn't control you!" Here, she's proven right - Zemus did try getting into Edge's mind. But he underestimated him, too. Edge's first reaction is: "I see… The power to do anything I want… Just need to get rid of these losers…" But then he goes directly into sarcasm: "Yeah, I will. Especially this one annoying loser." (meaning Zemus) Because yeah, Edge is immature and has some anger issues of his own. And being scared would only have made him more vulnerable. But he knows who he is and what's important when it comes down to it.
