ok concert thoughts

we had photography done during the warm-up which was. interesting. at least me locking eyes and mind-melding with my conductor will be preserved in perpetuity. if we don’t have the copy room we will always have this 🤍

for some reason felt oddly calm in the lead-up to our set? my honors professor was more jittery than i was, though she managed to pull out a bit of the mendelssohn concerto in the green room lol

also my honors professor genuinely thought i’ve done the mendelssohn? lmao no

my honors professor insisted on walking out with me too which was just. 🥹

we started at least six minutes late 😭😭😭 like at around four minutes i broke my personal rule of not moving around too much on stage and looked backward into the wings just to see what was going on with our conductor bc like. girly what

it wasn’t her, they just hadn’t finished seating everyone (some class had assigned concert attendance so there were a lot of students compared to last year)

also our conductor didn’t say she’d be walking out between the firsts and seconds so when we were standing there i got jumpscared when she put a hand lightly on my shoulder and said ‘behind you’ GIRL. HELP

and then we didn’t even start playing right away, she gave the LONGEST background to our first piece that i have ever heard (to be completely fair, there was the class that had assigned attendance, so it was most likely for their benefit. but i thought we’d only have a shorter performance bc our pieces filled half an hour. turns out she was just giving oral program notes)

people clapped between movements. lol

i. definitely feel like i played better in the rehearsals and warm ups than in the performance. but that’s okay, that just means i have something to work on for next time

which is not an opinion shared by my favorite honors professor, who told me i was a very good and considerate leader (and that means a lot considering she’s been playing violin for far longer than i have been alive) because i prepared to play after rests at a time considerate of the players and i was moving in a way that effectively communicated the mood of the passage: not too little, but not too much either.

speaking of, i was able to introduce her to my family (and my best friend from junior high, who made it to the concert) and we were kind of in a hallway with a corner

lo and behold, who should scurry by but. my conductor. who stopped and looked us all over and asked me, ‘this is your family?’ no ma’am just some filipinos i found on the street. also im pretty sure she thought my friend (also filipino) was my sister. it’s not the first time but lol

(it’s ok my conductor is the one white woman i’ve met who cared about the people power revolution, she can have a pass)

and of course she told my family i was doing a fantastic job, etc, and such and so, and my professor was also jumping in and saying ‘i knew you could do it’ and i almost. drowned in syrup. i don’t even remember everything they said bc my brain was on autopilot at that point. my mom doesn’t even remember either bc it was in english and she didn’t catch it 😭

anyway tonight good. orchestra good. music good. i’ve never been so happy in my life.

okay so actually you ended being the manager because the girls volleyball team had already closed the application time

so you you were really looking forward to it and omg you were so sad about it

after being rejected, you were just peacefully going through the gym and you heard laughter from a bunch of guys

and so, they were talking about getting a manager since this team is pretty much a lot to handle

and so since kosaku knew you were hard working and that the first idea that popped out oh his head was that if you wanted to try out.

and mostly because the twins having fangirls always made this process kind of difficult, so instead kita and aran wanted to make sure it was someone who at least was trusted by one of them

so it was a win win

atsumu refused to this because as the jerk he usually is, he said that he didn’t need any help

behind them was a couple of guys, who apparently did not know how lower their comments.

“the setter is kinda cute” “wow look at that” oml please even aran who was the voice of reason had the urge to punch them in the face.

still they decided to just focus on your game who has now been started. and even tho they wanted to not do it, they couldn’t help analyzing you and your moves in the court. it was natural, well because they were players and very good ones it’s inevitable for them to compare and to study the way you played more than anything.

they were not expecting you to be this good. almost everything in your technique was polished, your tema work was remarkable and god bless your ability to read the blockers.

but there was a moment when they just saw the panoramic view of your skills. atsumu could see your tired expression, the sweat on your body, he just knew you were feeling now the adrenaline of the last moments of the set.

still you yelled a “we will take it” and then, with the others team hope hanging on a thread, the ball came to your libero, which perfectly passed the ball to you.

there was greed in your eyes, so scary that kita for a moment feared for the other team.

and it was when you did the setter dump that your whole team stood up in pure shock.

sadly the boys screamed way too loud which lead to you, after you made the last point and give the history to your tema, lifted up your gaze and saw a bunch of idiots wearing hats and everything in between.

even if you are there for being a manager they always try to, at least half an hour before ending practice, they have a quick game with you playing alongside them or just including you in their repeats etc

and goooood bless once again anyone who tried to look down at you.

because after being constantly on you games ofc people started recognizing them as the inarizaki power house

if they heard someone relying your talent on them pls make sure they five them the coldest look ever

either way, you really do not want to bother anyone with your sickness so you decide to hole up in your room for the entire day

you don’t even tell levi about it because you know he’ll drop everything for the sake of your comfort

the only problem is that midway through the day you’ve become so bedridden you can’t even begin to fathom attending classes tomorrow

you guess you’ll be taking another day off

“I want to." The red head replied with a soft smile. “It’s not that far, and I’ve already contacted my driver to pick me up from there this evening. That should give us plenty of time to go over that assignment that’s been giving you so much trouble.”

“I’ll sure with your help, we’ll have it done in a flash!” You reply with a bright smile.

Akashi continued to smile, then reached down to take your hand and give it a small squeeze. PDA was inappropriate at school; especially for the class president. But it still spoke volumes that he wanted to do something before he left. “Good luck at practice Akashi-kun!” You call after him with a wave before you went to put away your things.

“Can you believe her? Fawning over Akashi-san like that.”

You give a small ‘hn?’ as you hear Akashi’s name behind you. Whispers in a harsh tone between some of your classmates.

You weren’t as smart as Akashi was, but then again who could really compete. He wanted you to do better and succeed, but now you were thinking that maybe he wanted to help you because it was embarrassing for him to be with a girl who didn’t get better grades.

“It must be hard for him to be saddle with a girl like that. I know I would certainly be a better match for Akashi-san.”

Unable to listen to anymore of this, you shove the rest of your belongings in your bag and leave the classroom. You couldn’t stand listen to those girls anymore!

Maybe Akashi would start to realize the difference between you and leave. Maybe he was too good for you, and it was only a matter of time before he figured that out.

You suddenly don’t feel well and text this to Akashi, saying you would be heading home. He of course texted you back, not having made it to practice yet, and asked if everything was alright and that he would come over later still, but you ask him not to.

For the next few days you avoided Akashi as much as possible. Aside from saying hello, or passing in the hall, you tried to stay away from him. When he asked to hang out, or have lunch, or even just talk for a few moments in your passing, you made some sort of excuse and hurried away. If he was going to leave you anyway, you decided, best to just put distance between you now so it would hurt less.

You plan worked for a while. Until one afternoon, as you were walking alone down a deserted hall, someone grabbed your from behind and pulled you into a classroom. “A-Akashi-kun?!”

“Why have you been avoiding me?” Akashi demanded. His usually soft expression with you stone cold as his gaze pinned you to the wall like his hands did.

“I…I’m not avoiding you. I’ve…just been busy.”

He did have a point there. Akashi was so smart. Which was the problem. You eventually tell him how you’ve been feeling, about what those girls said, and can feel tears well up in your eyes the more you spoke. “I just didn’t want you to leave me. But I thought it would be better if I put space between us so you wouldn’t realize how vast the difference between us is.”

You hear Akashi sigh before he ran his fingers through his hair. “Foolish girl.” A startled noise escaped your lips. You certainly weren’t expecting him to say that. “Of course we’re different. I don’t want to be with someone exactly the same. You do have strengths [Y/N]. Different strengths than I do, and that’s what makes being with you so wonderful.” The boy’s expression softened again and he stepped closer to hug you. “Don’t listen to those stupid, vapid girls. You let out a soft sniffle against Akashi’s shoulder and hug him tighter back as he held you. “I love you too Sei-kun.”

Summary: Hufflepuff is the type of person to express her love verbally but Slytherin is different; he hardly says “I love you” and Hufflepuff worries that maybe it’s because he doesn’t love her as much as she loves him. Our darling puff will realize that this is simply not the case. People just have different love languages. 

Hufflepuff loved Slytherin. She really did. In fact, she reminded him frequently. 

“I love you,” she chortled during breakfast when Slytherin had cast a spell to make the bacon strips float around in a dancing manner so that she would cheer up after reading depressing news from the Daily Prophet. Another time, she cooed the term of endearment as he held her tightly in his arms, swaying to the sound of music in the background. 

The thing was that Slytherin rarely said “I love you” in the entirety of their relationship. Instead of saying it back to her, he often replied by cupping her cheeks tenderly and leaning in for another kiss. Other times, he responded with a loving smile, his eyes glowing with warmth and infatuation.

It’s not that Hufflepuff thought Slytherin didn’t love her. She could definitely see it in the way that he looked at her, in those stolen glances when he thought she wasn’t looking. She could feel it when he held her close at night, his arms wrapped protectively around her. 

However, a part of her- the small shadow of doubt within her heart that told her that Slytherin didn’t care for her as much as she did for him- just wished for some kind of affirmation, a clear signal that said, “I love you.” 

One day, Hufflepuff and Slytherin sat side by side in Potions class, listening to Professor Slughorn drone on and on about Felix Felicis. She was absentmindedly staring at the board when Slytherin slid his notes in front of her so that she could see the doodle he drew on the side of his paper.

Hufflepuff bit her lip to suppress a laugh and squeezed his hand 3 times.  

Unfamiliar with the motion, Slytherin asked what the squeezes meant.

“It means I love you,” she whispered. Her voice was soft so that Professor Slughorn didn’t overhear their conversation.  

Nevertheless, Slytherin heard every word. A smile tugged at his lips and he immediately squeezed it back. He didn’t just stop there; he repeated the gesture about 6 times- and Potions class hadn’t even ended yet. 

From that day forward, Slytherin constantly told her I love you. Sometimes he squeezed her hand randomly- before he left for Quidditch practice, during breakfast when she passed him a plate of toast, and after he walked her back to the dormitory. 

Aside from that, he would occasionally tap out the gesture with his finger. 

Tap tap tap. 

Hufflepuff looked up from her book and made eye contact with Slytherin from across the room. She knew what it meant. She always did. 

Slytherin said I love you all the time now, more often than Hufflepuff’s verbal “I love you”. 

She realized that he had a different love language from her, and that was ok. It was the love itself that mattered. 

On their wedding day, as the officiant performed the ceremony, Hufflepuff looked up at Slytherin with adoration. “I love you,” she whispered. 

He smiled warmly at her and squeezed her hand four times.

You might be wondering why i wrote this one-shot. There was no special occasion this time, I just got a bonk of inspiration one day. also i felt bad for reblogging my ice skating oneshot so much (i did it to respond to other peoples reblogs) and i sent an ask to my favorite fanfic writer, asking her about what happens if i reblog my own work and if it pushes my fanfic up the algorithm, and she answered my question but also said that she usually deletes her reblogs bc her followers would probably get annoyed if they kept seeing the same work over and over again. i felt bad bc i had just done that, and i didnt want yall to constantly see the same fanfic all the time, so i wanted to give u something new. also i was thinking back on that person who said that my writing was sporadic (they werent trying to be mean). Sporadic basically means spaced out and occuring at different intervals. i felt bad bc my writing is definitely spread out by one month for some reason. im not sure what this means for next month bc i never write 2 fanfics in one month. does this mean that i wont write a fanfic for november? hopefully not. ok that sounds sad, im sure it doesnt but who knows bc the college process thingies is killing me 

I wrote out the general details of the story at 1 am one night when i was trying to sleep lmaoao heres a screenshot: 

This is basically how I write for most of my fanfics at first, it consists of the general info along with some specific details.

At first, the one-shot was gonna be a drabble (aka a story that’s only 100 words long) but when I finished writing it, I went to wordcounter to check the number of words and it was 500! i was like oop ok im just gonna call it a oneshot then. i wrote part of the story on sunday morning and then i went to exercise in the park with my sister. afterwards, i wanted to keep working on it but then i became swamped with college stuff so i stopped. i started writing again today (its monday, but im posting it on tuesday, aka today for you- or maybe not if ur not reading this on the day that i posted it) and i surprisingly finished- but that was probably a bad idea to be writing the oneshot during this week because i have a lot of exams, but lets look at the bright side, i finished the story!

I didn’t think of the idea completely on my own. I actually read the reddit story (found it in a thread on insta) a few years ago, and I don’t know why but I was thinking about it that night and I decided to make a one-shot out of it! Isn’t it such a sweet story (the actual story, not this)?? It would be kinda nice if I reached out to the person and said, hey i wrote a story based on you and ur husband!

ADRININOGAMI ROOMATES AU RECAP: its not really an au its just a timejump, Adrien Nino and Kagami are all like 18-19 and roommates, hawkmoth is still out there and lb and cn still dont know each others’ identities, Nino and Kagami know each others’ secret identities but don’t know Adrien’s and he doesn’t know theirs, Nino is at university while Adrien and Kagami are just taking a gap year and working minimum wage jobs and honestly they are all thriving and bffs

Chloe is a music major

i have very little knowledge of the universities of Paris so this is going to be partially based on the American system, im sorry but youre going to have to suspend your disbelief real quick

so the university has a rule where first year students have to live on campus in the dorms

Nino escaped this rule because he is a goshdarn music nerd and quest for knowlege cannot be stopped

There wasn’t even an AP Music Theory class at his high school when he started there but he was like “whats up guys i have self-confidence now and i think it would be pretty nifty if we had this class” and then talked to teachers and convinced a bunch of his friends to sign up for it so now its a class

And thats the only AP Music class and he still wanted to learn,,, so he just,,, started taking online college courses,,, in music theory,,, for fun,,,, the absolute nerd <3

Chloe has calmed down significantly by this time and sucks a lot less. but then they get paired up for a group project and the group meets at nino’s apartment, and adrien is not in the building whenever chloe is there, on purpose,, they will be friends again eventually but their friendship is taking a little bit of a break and adrien is still learning how to have boundaries so he’s just doing what’s best for his mental health

chloe is totally fine with this and doesnt miss him at all

who is now like 19 and having some actual self confidence and happiness and who is chilling in her apartment with nino, one of her best friends

and chloe gets through the first group meetup at nino’s house and doesn’t spent any time just staring at kagami who’s chilling reading books in the corner (yes she does)

chloe is actually trying her hardest to be nice to the group members and make friends and prove that she can be a good person and a hard worker but she has very little social skills or work ethics skills and is having complicated emotions about adrien and hasnt even realized it yet but she is falling HARD for kagami,

all that is to say that chloe is a little bit distracted from the group project

but anyway they meet up again and this time chloe has done a ton of research and prep beforehand bc she doesnt want 2 be caught offguard made to look like a fool again and everyone is like what the heck, since when does she study things?

and anyway the project goes pretty great

but then

chloe has a goshdarn crying breakdown

because she is experiencing too many emotions all at once

the combination of just,,, university coursework is stressful and living without servants for the very first time in her life and parental issues and not having friends and also literally everything is just aaaa

so she starts crying in her dorm while doing homework while juleka is there but she literally forgets that juleka is there bc juleka is kind of a cryptid

and juleka just kinda stares at her for a minute and then is like “u good”

and chloe tries to pretend shes not startled and is like “haha yeah its fine”

and juleka is like “have u considered getting a tutor”

and chloe, who is stupid, is like “hmm i should ask nino to tutor me but only at his place and only when kagami is home and i should make sure that i look super cute and i need to study beforehand so that i look cool and smart in front of kagami,, i mean,, for no reason at all i just think this is a good idea”

she talks to nino and nino is like “ok i guess i can help tutor you but u have to actually make an effort and also stick to a schedule so youre not there when adriens there bc we are respecting his boundaries and also you need to-”

and chloe is like “great perfect done”

and then she actually does everything nino says

so basically

she ends up passing all of her classes and making friends

literally just because she is too stupid to actually try to talk to kagami

they literally do not have any conversations other than like “hey, whats up?” “nothing much lol” for like,,, an entire year

also chloe does not admit to herself that she has a crush on kagami for that entire time either

meanwhile adrien and nino and kagami are all a little confused bc chloe keeps flirting at nino??? and adrien is like “im pretty sure she likes girls but idk???” and nino keeps being like “hey chloe what’s up, i just got back from hanging out with my amazing girlfriend alya who i am very in love with,, and who is my girlfriend,, who i am dating”

and chloe has literally no idea why he is doing this but continues to flirt at him and subconciously hope that kagami will catch some of her flirting vibes and falls in love with her

so basically

they are all stupid

BUT Chloe and Nino do become actual friends and chloe actually respects him for the amazing wonderful smart talented kind person that he is and he helps her make some new friends and they get to the point where they are a super great study group and she’ll listen to all his homework assignments and proofread some of them when its like finals cramming time and they are supporting each other and their friendship is good

yeah i can answer that!! i think i very very briefly hinted at it in like one sentence in the most recent chapter, but i did not go into detail at all. and im not sure when ill explain it in detail in the fic, and it doesn't have a huge impact on the plot moving forward anyway, so i don't mind answering now.

roman doesn't know much about supers bc his parents really dislike supers, and have consistently done their best to prevent roman from ever learning anything about supers and to make him think supers are bad and that it's shameful to have powers. (he hid his powers from them as soon as he found out he had them.) so he only knows little bits and pieces of information about supers, plus a lot of incorrect stuff. the incorrect stuff either comes from things his parents said (much of which were outright lies, but roman has no way of knowing how much or what specifically was untrue, although he does suspect that at least some of it was false), or else just from roman not knowing much and so making incorrect assumptions. the little he does know comes from just picking up on things his teachers and classmates say in passing, or like, things in the media that his parents failed to keep from him - eg billboards, magazine covers in grocery checkout lanes, the news channel before his parents switch it, etc.

(side note, but roman's knowledge of queer and trans stuff was acquired in much the same way, under much the same circumstances—in particular, you may notice that some of the ways he understands himself and talks about his gender throughout the fic have been influenced by his parents' transphobic views on gender. virgil and logan are going to gently & lovingly teach him more helpful ways to understand transness, while also allowing him to describe his experiences however feels most comfy for him <3)

anti-super sentiment is pretty rare in the universe, but it does exist—most often for religious reasons, but not always. either way, being anti-super is viewed by the vast majority of people as a fringe position and a weird, outdated view to have. roman's parents, neither of whom have powers, don't hate supers for religious reasons. it's also not a position either of them have always had; they kind of developed it concurrently. both of them have become extremely abusive people over the last 12–15-ish years, and not being supers means there is a whole category of power that they can never access to leverage over the vulnerable people around them, and they hate knowing that. so that is their main reason for being anti-super. they have an extremely unhealthy marriage, but refuse to get divorced bc they both think it's "wrong," and instead keep making each other much much worse, and roman was the one who suffered most as a result. so as soon as roman got powers, he was very very careful to hide his powers from them bc he knew how bad it would be if they ever found out. i think he probably made up a story to his parents about an after-school activity he had to join for a class, to give himself time in the afternoons to go out and pretend to be a full-grown superhero like he was doing in the first few chapters of the fic. he very luckily did not get caught in the lie by his parents, and did not get found out to have powers by them, before virgil rescued him.

but now he is safe, and going to learn helpful correct information about supers and about how to use his powers, and is going to be taken such good care of!! <3

im pretty stable and know what to do when it comes to manifesting and ive manifested so many things but maybe you can help on what i need to do for this

i was/is (not rlly sure now bc i haven’t seen him, i see him on monday tho bc he’s in my classes for school, i think i manifested that lol bc i had the biggest fucking feeling he was going to be in majority of my classes and guess what! he is, surprise surprise) anyways i was/is in love with this guy, ive never had a connection with someone this strong and he felt the same towards me and he was planning out a whole future together bc he wanted to be with me in the future, bc at the time he was focusing on himself but only wanted me so once he was happy w himself he would want a relationship. out of the blue one day he completely ghosted me, said he no longer wanted to talk, and thought it was best to take a break. i know i manifested this bc i had insecurities with the relationship at the time.

i've been overthinking this since monday and i've talked about it around me irl but i think it's not helping bc it makes me feel like no one is really considering my feelings/pov on the issue (everyone has the same opinion on what i should do lol tho for different reasons) so i'm turning to you guys even if none of you really know me that well - you don't have to respond but if you end up reading this any input would be appreciated

basically, anyone here who's had more than 2 convos with me knows i wanna do a phd once i finish my masters. to do a phd you need to have (a) a thesis supervisor (b) funding. where im from there are several days to get funding. most of them can be pretty tough to go through but they say that if you're good at what you do it's not really that hard. however, there is a shortcut to this - finding a supervisor who already has funding for a given project.

i'm currently doing my master's thesis under a supervisor who's lovely. i get along with her really well, she's really helpful, is always very supportive, etc. i'm also really fond of the project we're working on this year and i was hoping to take it further by basing my phd thesis on it. she agreed, said we'd start looking for funding next year. all was well and good until then.

on monday we had class with a new doc - he got a position at my university in november. brilliant guy, specializes in psycho-oncology, has done plenty of interesting research, etc. but the vibes are like, off. as a professional, i'm sure he's amazing. as a person, though, idk. now i know, don't judge someone you've only seen in class for 3 hours and blah blah but i'm a great believer in first impressions for whatever reason. anyway, at the end of class he asks if anyone would be interesting doing a phd after graduating. i raise my hand (and i'm the only one who does so so all the attention is on me lol). he then tells me that it's really cool because he'll have funding for a phd student right after i graduate. y'all already guessed it - it's an amazing project, something i would be super happy working on. it would make my life easier because i wouldn't have to look for funding. the money would already be there. i'd have nothing to worry about for the next 4 years except getting the work done and publishing. pretty cool, right? i'd be stupid to pass on such an opportunity. that's what everyone irl told me. and honestly, part of me agrees. i know this is good. i mean, my mom even went on to say it was a sign that he'd receive funding for a field i'm interested in with such great timing. maybe she's right, idk.

so yeah, my issue is that i don't really wanna work with him because i already have my dream supervisor. except dream supervisor, as amazing as she is, doesn't have funding. so idk what to do. i have a few months to think it through but i can't seem to not think about it already. it kept me up last night and i think i'm at my limit overthinking it, tbh.

anyway, sorry for rambling like this. i don't make this type of posts very often because i like to keep the personal info i share online to a minimum but i really have no clue what i should do. thank you for reading my word vomit if you got this far!!
