On my first watch, I don't think I realized how unsanitary the Undercity seems. Vi was climbing/crawling/falling down a metal structure (with some visible rust) with an open wound. That can't be sanitary at all, but it's also absolutely a common occurrence down there. No wonder Shimmer is so widely produced-not only is it addictive, but it has legitimate healing properties in controlled doses, and the people of the Undercity need all the healing they can get, especially since you just know that Piltover has greatly neglected to provide anything resembling decent medicine down there.

You know, wrt my ramble about degrowth-as-movement (Versus degrowth-as-technique), I was talking with a friend and we came to the conclusion that part of the reason they so often end up Like That is, well...
...Basically that most of the scientists in environmental movements are; naturally; environmental scientists, not specialized in other fields, so they end up operating within their relatively narrow perspective combined with Vibes to evaluate other disciplines.
Which like, I can get why there's probably a fear of branching out, being embedded in a certain field can give one a bias towards the status quo, speaking as the son of an engineer, engineer brain is in fact very real, and I get the fear of some of the warped assumptions that a lot of people in those fields treat as core warping the environmental movement around them.
But still, it would be nice if we had people who actually knew their shit about; say; computers and computer production giving their input on sustainability wrt personal computing from an enviro-lefty perspective, rather than just going on the Vibes of "They're just a toy for the global rich, so they're probably bad, right?"
Like, I've been convinced at least that "Optimize your fucking code" is very much an environmental issue, but that was due to talking to people from a left perspective who know their shit about computers...

Y'know how sometimes uterus renters get this big influx of horniness right before their menstrual cycle starts? How that big tidal wave of horny and/or mating impulses is a big flashing sign of things to come?
I'm catching a cold.

i like having answers to things in magic the gathering, but not in the "my deck is so specialized on one thing like aggro or control it can handle any situation by ignoring it" but like, playing a card to deal with a problem. this means my deck is kind of a generalist mess that isn't excellent at any game pace, but it's so Fun drawing the one card that will get you out of a situation

my relationship to astrology is that i don’t believe in it in the slightest, but i do find it interesting in the sense that learning about different faiths or belief systems helps me better understand how others think — but there’s also part of me that can’t resist at least briefly entertaining occult or fantastical ideas, so i do get curious about my placements and what astrologists have to say about it. and like 90% of the time it’s totally incongruous with my lived experience so i read it and think “okay well that’s dumb”, but once in a while there’s something that seems so eerily accurate that for a second i forget about the other 90% and go “oh fuck maybe astrology is real”

Because my little brother is Having Adult Financial Experiences, a little PSA:
Do not use your DEBIT card for point of sale purchases. Use CASH or a CREDIT card.
NEVER USE A DEBIT CARD AS A CREDIT CARD.
Cash
Cash, if intercepted (stolen) is only worth each bill’s individual value and doesn’t give information regarding you or your digital accounts. If a place you used cash at is robbed, YOU don’t lose any money. It’s not your money anymore. Make whatever purchases you want with cash, especially those you want to keep discreet - while marked bills can be tracked, it’s the most anonymous method of purchase.
Credit Cards
Credit cards, if stolen, give access to whatever the card limit is. They carry your name, and sometimes your billing address can be identified. If a place you used your credit card is hacked, YOU can lose money through your card information. However, credit cards are a) insured and b) can be remotely cancelled. This makes credit cards ideal for everyday and online purchases. While there’s a risk, the risk is buffered by the card limit and the company’s provided fraud prevention. Typically they will flag ‘odd’ purchases as fraud - you should let a company know if you plan to travel, as out of country purchases are often flagged as fraud. Some smaller online retailers or services will also be flagged as fraud. Additionally, you can review your monthly bill for fraudulent purchases.
If your card has been ‘frozen’ because a fraudulent purchase was detected, check your bill to confirm the purchase. If it was falsely flagged as fraudulent, call your credit card company and confirm that the purchase was legitimate. They will usually unfreeze your card same day.
If your card has been ‘frozen’ because a fraudulent purchase was detected and/or you check your bill and find a purchase that you DID NOT make, call your credit card company. They will confirm the fraudulent purchase with you and freeze your card if it has not been frozen already. They will then refund the fraudulent purchase as an additional credit for the new credit card. It can take a few days for your new card to come in the mail. Cut up your old credit card and discard it.
Debit Cards
Debit cards, if stolen, give access to your bank account and it’s entire balance. They carry your name, address, and sometimes your DOB. If a place you used your credit card is hacked, YOU can lose ALL OF THE MONEY IN YOUR BANK ACCOUNT through your card information. Debit cards can be remotely cancelled. BUT debit cards are NOT insured; any money spent prior to fraud detection WILL NOT be refunded to you. ONLY use your debit card to withdraw cash from an ATM, or under extenuating circumstances. If a place you used your debit card gets hacked, your bank information may be vulnerable.
Some banks have automatic detection services, some don’t. Check your balance statement monthly or more frequently. Call your bank immediately if you suspect fraud - any money fraudulently spent WILL NOT be refunded, but you can prevent future fraudulent charges.
*disclaimer that this is all based on my personal experiences with cash, credit card, and debit card use and fraud reporting. fraud detection, refund availability, and point of sale vulnerability will vary depending on your banking or credit institution and location.
