Kaneki is Amon's faith. Ever since Amon simply decided to believe that the world was just Wrong Kaneki has been the only break he's gotten from this cycle and he holds onto that So Tightly

Amon has faith in Kaneki in a way that should be borderline Blind for an investigator , when you think about it objectively he really doesn't have that much justification for thinking this wasn't just a Typical Ghoul Backstab when he saw Kaneki eating Shinohara at Kanou's lab, seeing as he'd only seen Kaneki twice and once was like a 5 second encounter 20 feet away

But he held onto that faith anyway, he holds onto that faith and the idea of his 'purity' (that Kaneki can't be/isn't a Murderer, despite the evidence of his brutal actions towards ghouls) even after Kaneki almost kills him in a way that should feel traitorous and contradictory to what he saw at the lab, something that should've proved that Yes actually Kaneki Could and would hurt a human like any other ghoul could, which should technically prove Amon's previous notion that he isn't just another ghoul Wrong (I like clowning on Amon for this so much but also Genuinely Amon what is Up with you. Maybe it's the blood loss maybe it's the shock maybe it's Something Else)

While it's usually Kaneki clinging to Amon's words in the original series, Amon also preaches Kaneki's words, telling Saiko not to be a murderer, likely carrying it as his mantra as he struggles to survive as a ghoul cannibalizing, it's His principles and methods that he sticks to to not lose his own purity and also his own god damn Mind

I try to give more significance to the time shadow had with gerald after gun took them both prisoners cuz. I think it's a very interesting period of time even if it was pretty short. Gun took them both alive so that gerald could continue his work on shadow & turn him into the most desired military weapon, so there must have been a time between his imprisonment & being put into stasis when shadow was awake to train, get tests & challenges, beat up gun machineries to pieces, kill some soldiers while he's at it (out of his own will), and just have a general really hard time down there on prison island.

Gerald, being a familiar face, taking care of him and grounding all his confusion, anxiety & troubled mind VS gerald constantly reminding him that all humans deserve nothing but destruction for what they've done and what they're doing to both himself & shadow at that point of time. One thing tho, gerald never mentions maria.

"A broken heart is a survival instinct", but after observing what has happened to Shadow's mind & memories after the events at the ARK, he realized that giving sentience & emotions to a being that's supposed to be perfect might have been a big mistake. A mind can weaken & break just like gerald's own was only deteriorating underneath all the loss & grief & injustice, "a heart is a heavy burden!" But it's not like he had time to fix this newfound problem, instead he cld only hide what ate away at Shadow's psyche, leaving out all the pain & tragedy of losing maria and letting only the anger & hatred towards the concept of the crime itself fester, ultimately leading Shadow to become much MUCH more ruthless & cruel compared to his past kinder pacifist self at the ARK.

Any headcanons for reboot Dante and medical trauma?

Side note: Considering Vergil got adopted by a rich family and presumably had regular doctor's visits and such, presumably Nephilim blood + DNA and such doesn't look any different than regular human DNA. Which... feels like it should be wrong, since Nephilim aren't human, so there's gotta be some differences there somewhere, right? Maybe it just looked normal because of whatever spell Sparda (and maybe Eva?) put on the twins?

I always figured based on that one line from Vergil about meningitis being a human sickness and thus, Dante can't catch it, that both of the twins just don't really get sick or have any medical issues. So due to that and Dante's slew of bad foster homes, that he probably just like...never went to the doctor.

I do however think that once he got in the Order, the medical division there probably ran some tests on him at Vergils behest. I'm sure the details they were given were slim and they'd probably run the same tests on Vergil before, but Vergil probably wanted something to compare to. Dante is cooperative, but talks and moves too much which is annoying when you're trying to draw blood (he talks with his hands and likes to touch things).

As for Vergil, I similarly don't think he ever got sick so only ever really went to the doctor for check ups. I guess I maybe based this on my own experiences but I never really got blood draws as a kid until they started testing me for anemia and thalassemia (anemia but worse if you have the major strain and Mediterranean). Which maybe was a result of my deathly fear of needles up until I started getting like frequent blood tests? But idk regardless it sort of led me to assume that Vergil, being the picture of health to his pediatrician, never got his blood drawn asdfghjk

The idea though that he's just got his former pediatrician out there wondering what the fuck was up with that kids blood is very funny to me. Like, I just figured all Sparda did was wipe the kids memories so any difference in their blood would be noticeable still for medical professionals. So this guy can see somethings up but is not equipped to figure out what and the kid seems fine so asdfghj let him be.

That said, and regardless of how aware he is that he is immune to human germs, I also headcanon Vergil to be a germaphobe and a hypochondriac (he has a vibe also as a fandom we all seemed to have taken in the fanon that he just never takes off the gloves and this all just rolled with it dfghjkl). He's probably always hated doctors offices and made a fuss about being there and did not trust the needles for his booster shots. Once he figured out he didn't need to go, he definitely stopped going asdfghjk. The idea of someone who is immune to all illness and disease who is incredibly afraid of it anyway is very silly and fun to me, love that about him.

Something I found out re-reading the script and typing about FE Tellius in general :

In the final chapter of FE10's Part 3, when Pelleas is dead, Almedha explains a bit of backgroud information to Miccy and the DB peeps - the convo flows differently if Pelleas is alive or was killed earlier on, but for this post, I'll use the convo she has when Pelleas died, aka when Almedha is at her lowest point ever :

Tauroneo: “I remember the horror of that disease. King Ashnard took the throne after the plague killed most of the royal family, including his father. The tragedy is still fresh in my mind.” Almedha: “That was no disease. It was the curse of a blood pact.” Tauroneo: “What?!” Almedha: “It was all plotted by my husband in a bid to claim the throne of Daein. He used the curse… to steal the lives of his family and citizens…”

Almedha: “Ashnard, he… always worried about the future of a world without equals. He was born an outstanding man, wise beyond his age, yet could never become king. So to shape his ideal world, he decided to resort to underhanded schemes. That’s right… he tricked his father into signing a blood pact with a traveling wise man.”

Note that Almedha still calls him an outstanding man, "wise beyond his age" after dropping earlier how he fucking killed his family and several randoms to gain the throne - it's just some "underhanded scheme" uwu.

-> bar showing Almedha has interesting feelings regarding Ashnard even after everything that happened to her, her son and her brother, she knew Ashnard was the kind of dude who would kill his family and his randoms to get the throne, and yet still remained by his side. That mutual attraction must have been hella strong!

Anyways, we have a follow up about who or what the "traveling wise man" did :

Tauroneo: “Who was he!? That wise man…?” Almedha: “I do not know the details… To cure my illness, that man gathered at Daein the most bizarre people on the continent… Izuka was one of those people. He said he was a scholar studying the properties of wildlife… but, in truth he was nothing more than a madman hell bent on developing biological weapons… Oh ho ho ho.”

What illness is Almedha refering to ? The "cannot transform in a laguz anymore" illness?

So, timeline wise we have :

Ashnard and Almedha meet, they develop a "strong mutual attraction", Ashnard meets Lekain and tricks his dad to sign a blood pact with Lekain so the royal family dies and he gets his ticket for the throne (random peons dying is just some unfortunate casualty!), Soren is born, Almedha becomes "ill".

Lekain gathers randoms at Daein, including fucking Izuka, to officially search for a "cure" to her illness or "study the properties of wildlife" - but actually starts to work on his Feral Ones project...

Soren has no stats, so Ashnard "reject" him and later casts Almedha away, but not before using Soren, as a bait, to lure Rajaion and ultimately turn him - and a red dragon platoon - in a Feral One.

The Tellius recollection book says she had a mental and emotional shock after losing her powers AND after witnessing Rajaion becoming Ashnard's mount.

So is Almedha going all "lol." actually representing how broken she is? At this point, her son was killed, she's still sure Rajaion died because of her and connected 2+2 = 4 : while Solon pretended to look for a cure to heal her, he was actually refining the Feral One drug to use on her older brother.

Despite everything, she doesn't seem to have a particular resentment at Ashnard, nor call him names. Almedha might lash out at random people (Miccy, Tauroneo), but imo, she sees herself as the biggest reason why the tragedy (the loss of her son, her brother, etc etc) happened - and I can't really shake away the feeling that it is fueled by her sudden loss of power.

Tl;Dr : Almedha, per that book, "descended into madness" when she lost her powers due to mating with a Beorc (and witnessing Rajaion turned into a Feral One).

Peak anti-racism duology : Laguz can die twice when they procreate with a Beorc, first they become "crippled", and second, they lose their mind. Very Progressive (tm) writing.
