In Memory of Dennis O'Neil

Today marks 5 years since we lost legendary comic book writer Dennis O'Neil.

Dennis O'Neil is forever remembered as the writer who helped bring Batman back to his dark gothic roots in the Bronze Age of Comics. His stories were dark and atmospheric, having Batman face supernatural threats and having the Dark Knight come up against one of his greatest foes, Ra's al Ghul as well as bring the Joker back as a murderous foe who brought death with a smile.

Dennis also brough the real-world threat of drugs and drug addiction to Green Arrow where it was revealed Speedy had become addicted to heroin.

Dennis' vast array of work is still influencing comics today.

I dont normally post multiple times per day, but today is special and I actually finished this.

I'm a big voice actor fan. And I'm a big Ninjago/Transformers fan. So obviously I love Kirby Morrow.

I always draw something with his characters today.

In memory of my two best boys, Chi-Chi and Midnight.

I love you both so much. I hope you are happy spending your eternity together. I'll see you both again one day. </3

This drawing is a way for me to grieve my two passed family cats. Their outfits inspired of course by their personality, and the background depicting the heaven I hope they frolic in together right now. The lyrics are from the song "The Light Behind Your Eyes" by My Chemical Romance. I put these lyrics since this song helped me grieve the loss of other pets in the past when I first discovered it, and I listened to it the day Midnight passed.

Speaking of him, he departed just yesterday, living from October of 2023 to June 3rd, of 2025. He was a special boy. Technically being my sibling's cat, I worry for them and their choices of coping mechanisms. It was hard for the entire family, though I fear they may be grieving the most without knowing how to process it at their younger age. Midnight was a ragdoll cat, and he sure did live up to the title. You could do anything to that cat and he was happy and purring. My family dressed him up a lot, and we could snuggle him in our arms for hours without him wanting to break away. Recently, he passed due to cancer. We did not suspect he had anything wrong as when we took him to get fixed, the vet said he was perfectly healthy. Only months after this came up. I sat near him almost the entire time he was passing. He lied in a box with a blanket and I pet his face to let him know how loved he was. When he finally departed from us for good, I was in my room. My mother informed me he gave one big final meow and then let go. Rest in peace, Middy Mouse. Just as my family and I loved to nickname you, we hope you look down on us and do the same in your own special way.

Chi-Chi was my precious little orange cat. He passed away in July of 2023 and my family has been missing him ever since. I loved how he would go to the school next door and play with the kids at recess, or how he would come inside the house late at night and lay with my mom while she watched TV, of course he was okay with everybody else petting on him as well. Sometimes when he came into my room, I would watch Subnautica videos with him, specifically from The Last Bacon on YouTube. I think he liked watching the alien fish in the video swim around and explore, just like he loved watching real animals. He would find bugs outside, but he never hurt them. He only sweetly pawed at them, claws tucked in like he saw them as friends. He did the same with my hognose snake, watching him curiously through the glass. But oh, the day he passed was hard. My neighbors informed my mom of his body in the road. He had been hit by somone. I was awoken by my mom's crying at around 8AM. My family buried him in our backyard, and then my friend and I had a short visit to grieve him. How she loved him too. I'm sure we all did. Rest in peace Chi-Chi.

To anyone who was kind enough to read this, thank you. I have dealt with lots of pet deaths in my life, from owning many animals, and despite what some may say, I don't think it ever gets easier. Cherish your furred, scaled, or feathered friends whilst you can. It's untold when the universe will reclaim them.
