We just rewatched Amok Time. You know, for Rosh Hashanah.
"Seven years? Why didn't any of this happen when the other ship was lost in the Whatever Quadrant?" asked my hapless husband, unaware that he had just enrolled himself in his wife's Fuck Or Die Friday seminar.

whatever you do, do not think about the layers behind jack saying, “we’re good friends, the wind and i.” the implication that jack and hiccup were meant to cross paths, to find one another at all points in their lifetime even if they weren’t aware of who they were to each other yet. that their first and second lives are inextricably linked— hiccup, as a spirit, drawn to jack when he was still human while jack, as jack frost thrown back in time, drawn to hiccup in his present. that their love and friendship is a circle, in a way that they’ll keep meeting in the middle over and over and over again. in a way that it’s infinite and transcends time as long as there’s proof of memory. in a way that there is no telling where their story really begins or ends, only that it exists, that it's continuous. in a way that it’s inevitable, fated, like every moment that passes, whether they spend it together or apart, are all puzzle pieces that connect. that their love is constant, always in motion, in a way that’s tried and true.
whatever you do, do not think about how they both waited 300 years (and some more) until they could experience what it was like to have a companion again. i repeat, do not think about, “you were always there. weren’t you? you’re the wind.”

thinking a lot about how fatal flaws are misconstrued as being moral failings when actually hamartia is a moral neutral.
the best kind of fatal flaw, in my opinion, is one that’s both a character’s greatest strength and biggest weakness at the same time. it needs to be their biggest weakness intertwined like vines with what makes them admirable. it’s their very virtues that bring them to ruin!!! it’s something they can be lauded for that spells their death!!
it’s macbeth’s ambition. it’s oedipus’s loyalty to his state and unending thirst for truth and justice. it’s hamlet’s obsessive contemplation and wish to make sure his every decision is the right one. it’s being loyal to the point of blindness or confident to the point of hubris.
in any other story they could succeed because of these traits, but they aren’t in any other story, and in theirs it’s exactly what damns them.

a thing about dsmp is that it’s both goofy and brutal, and its characters have adapted to conditions of extreme goofiness and extreme brutality. what this means is, like it or not, you could transplant literally any character from dsmp into the hunter x hunter universe and they wouldn’t fucking blink

something namjoon has excelled in over the years is learning what does and doesn’t work for him choreography wise. i know it’s the joke to tease him abt the dance aspect of being an idol but he, along w jin, have not only held their weight to a tremendous degree (u would be able to tell if they weren’t) but has also developed his own lil style. which is WHY i unironically love dynamite’s choreo bc it’s just simple enough to allow dancers of all skill level to have fun w it but it’s intricate enough to show off the skill they all (ALL!!!!) have to possess to achieve as high of a performance as they do w each and every stage of this otherwise silly little pop song (affectionate)

i loooove bari. i love her a lot
the whole thing about her sacrificing parts of herself for the sake of others. of forgetting one of her most important friends just so she could be saved from death. of never remembering what they lived together, but promising that she'll always keep a part of helena with her.
she's lost so many memories that she doesn't remember who she is, what she is, how old she is; all she knows is that she's a priestress, and that her role is to restaure the world tree. she doesn't have much, and yet, she's content with what she has. bari doesn't mind sacrificing herself; her compassion runs *that* deep
also. her bio:
"if she doesn't recognize you after a prior meeting, you should treat it as a compliment: it means she valued her time with you enough for it to count as the happy memory to pay for someone else's wish."
anyway i love bari i love self sacrificial characters etc etc

right, so, you know how ten and donna are so close they're considered practically siblings? I think that should apply to eleven and amy as well
they're not quite the same type of dynamic, but I sincerely believe that (where ten and donna were on more equal footing with one another) eleven DEFINITELY sees amy as his little sister and, him, her older brother
I've been trying to figure out WHY eleven and amy were so special to me even if I wasn't exactly the biggest fan of his run and I think this is it
I may be wrong bc the only thing going through my brain rn is angels take manhattan and god complex butttt the way he treats her and the way she wholeheartedly believes in him makes me think of that sort of relationship. like they're not sibling-siblings but they're best friend-siblings. if that makes any sense at all
the way the eleven tolerates having rory tag along on their adventures cause he makes her happy (and eventually grows to care about him too), the affectionate/reassuring forehead kisses, how I genuinely believe that if he could've eleven would've done literally anything to get her back, and him being SOO protective of his amelia "you always get what you want" pond. that is his little sister!!! his precious pond!!!
plus the constant bickering. rory tries to say a single word and the doctor shuts him down so quick, but with amy it's just that constant back and forth bc he loves her and it's fun to play fight
he's like her weird, adopted older brother that keeps going off on adventures and who no one else really likes, but she loves him to bits and he would do absolutely anything for her

Personally I think Essek would be open to the idea of Caleb dating Kingsley as well as him because of the nature of Consecution. Partners from previous lives who were Consecuted must reunite all the time. In that vein, Caleb falling again for a person he once loved after they come back from the dead—finding a new partner, but also still having feelings for someone from another life…I think Essek wouldn’t find that strange at all—

my genuine condolences to anyone who ever disliked Julian Bashir but I got into this fandom 1.5 years ago with the full knowledge that I would unconditionally adore this hyperintelligent hyposocial cringebeast twink of a man, and he has, in fact, become and remained my entire world ok.

sharpay (and ryan!) are the main antagonists of the first movie because they represent the top of the social hierarchy and actively work to ensure everyone continues to uphold the status quo (with them at the top). troy‘s and gabriella‘s goal in the movie is to break free (also title of their song lmao) from restricting social categories; troy wants to be more than a basketballer and gabriella wants more than be defined by her intelligence. everyone who represents an antagonistic force and in one way or another pulls on gabriela and troy at some point, comes either around or loses narrative relevance (exhibit A: chad & taylor; exhibit B: the drama teacher & troy‘s dad). that makes sharpay and ryan—who take definite action to undercut this goal at a narratively relevant moment and who only come around after the main story is over (and after troy and gabriella fight for their place)—the main antagonists. case closed!!!!!!

Aphrodite: So, do you have any secrets, hmm?
Apollo: Since I was a child i've been programmed to believe that no matter what I do, everything could have been improved in some way, shape or form. So much that I can't accomplish anything anymore without it being considered a failure.
Aphrodite:
Apollo: What about you?
Aphrodite: I've never eaten sushi.
