Just a throwback to June 30th and my review of Indiana Jones 5. I liked it. Could have been way better. Never recaptures the magic of the originals. But, still fun. And the theater I went to had beer which was a nice touch.
So yes this week went to see the final adventure of
Indiana Jones in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny
and as a Jones myself I have to support the family
name lol but also yes there was a collectable for
this which you can see here.
but as for the movie itself I would have to say that
that it was excellent! I really thought it was a good
way to close out the series and the character and
the world of Indiana Jones had quite the send off.
The opening flashback action sequence in 1944
with the train was pretty amazing and this opened
the movie in true Indiana Jones style but you'll
notice that this is not a Paramount production
being there is no mountain logo transition being
this is a Disney production.
but the Nazi infested opening is extremely
exciting and thrilling to watch.
Also the visual effects for the "Young"
Indiana Jones was very impressive for a
high speed action sequence like this
you could tell that they put everything
they could in to this to make it perfect
the same with all the other visual aspects of the
movie.
The main story in this takes place in the 60's
that the time of the Moon Landing and we catch
up with a tired and somewhat cantankerous
old Indy who is on the verge of retiring from
Teaching and then gets swept up in one
last great adventure that links back to the
opening flashback.
In this he kinda takes a bit more of a
backseat almost mentor role in away to
a new character Helena Shaw (played by Phoebe Waller-Bridge)
who is as the trailers make it known is
his "god daughter" so in this Indy is
kind of more like Sean Connery was in
the Last Crusade.
Now with the inclusion of the character
of Helena Shaw I heard alot of people
didn't really like that character and
personally I had no problem with her
I actually thought she was pretty good
and I feel that he inclusion was pretty
much there to do alot of the "heavy lifting"
becasue Harrison Ford is what 85?
he is not going to be able to be as
action oriented as he was in like 1981 lol
but like I said I did enjoy the
Helena character and wouldn't mind
maybe seeing her in a spin-off movie
with her companion Teddy (played by Ethann Isidore)
being he reminded me of Short Round from
Temple of Doom.
but with new characters its always great to
see old characters also like
Sallah (John Rhys-Davies) and
Marion (Karen Allen) also
Mads Mikkelsen was great as the main
villain in this but of course he
does do amazing villains to begin with.
I did find the movie somewhat fast paced and
fun with classic Indy moments
one of the coolest parts is the chase
sequences on the lil motorized carts
through the city there was
some good action movie humor and and
a few silly gags.
Now honestly I thought they were
going to maybe kill off the character
at one point I thought that is how it
was going to end and and I felt that
in the third act it was inching towards
that but it doesn't happen thankfully
but in the end like I said I thought it was a good
way to close out the series and the character and
the world of Indiana Jones had quite the send off.
If you loved the previous movies then I would
highly recommend this one.

(private) am i going insane because from all objective metrics dead reckoning is doing great? im not american but where I am we are getting positive reviews about the milestones it's crossing here but all American origin media seems to be hell bent on crying doom about it for some reason? what is happening?
there are quite a few things contributing to this attitude and they boil down to the fact that the trades have a very myopic, US-centric view and so they have decided on a narrative for DR (flop) and they’re sticking to it and are just ignoring that the entire rest of the world exists, the movie lost ALL of its premium screens and quite a few of its standard ones after it’s first week (and no he couldn’t have released it any later because you cannot tell me he did not smell this strike coming (he’s been fighting the studios about AI for decades) and knew no one would be around to promote DR in fucking august) and yet has still made back its entire covid-inflated budget plus another $200mil and is still going at a good clip, and that cruise guaranteed the movie would get a minimum 90 day theatrical release which means it’ll still be there into *october* but more than that they’re definitely ignoring the fact that DR’s super-inflated budget isn’t like the ones that people have been mocking for indy5 or fastX or whatever because DR’s includes the roughly 40% of DRpart2 that’s already been shot, an estimated $100mil in covid safety costs that were already paid off by insurance, and the *7 months* between having the evacuate venice in february 2020 and the beginning of principal photography in september 2020 that tom cruise forced paramount to keep his entire blockbuster film cast and crew on the payroll when everyone else in hollywood just laid everyone off. but if the trades talk about that then they would have to admit that everything is fine actually and the sky isn’t falling on tom cruise. so they stick to their chosen narrative.

Yes with our viewing of
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny
there was a collectable goodie!!
This bucket is a lil different from the
usual ones. When we first seen it you couldn't
tell it was for this movie it just looked like
a strange golden bucket.
You actually have to get right up close
to know it is for Indiana Jones.
Now in the design of the bucket I think
they were trying to make it look like it
was something you would find on his
adventures.
I think it is suppose to look like an
ancient relic or some type of Greek
jar you know something that you would
find in a tomb.
It has a nice texture on it with is
almost hammered out design
but one flaw of it is the lettering
you can see it clearly in the pics
but if you were to be looking at it
in person or on a table/shelf you
probably wouldn't even notice it.
I thought why didn't they make it a
different color so it stands out?
but then I thought that would probably
ruin the aesthetic of the bucket itself
which of course you don't want to do.
but anyway that was the collectable
for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny
I feel it is one of the strangest
buckets we have gotten so far.
I guess this is where you go now to communicate with people, since Elon has decied to be a complete twat and tell me I can only scroll thru 600 tweets a day.
So here we go, what shall we discuss the upcoming #SDCC ? Your thoughts on #Indy5 My thoughts on #MI7 what you got?
