Good Holiday Omens Day 23
Tumblr media
Artist Credit: Makoyana on X
That certain night, the night we met...
There was magic abroad in the air...
There were angels dining at the Ritz...
And a nightingale sang
In Berkeley Square.
This one is especially dedicated to Sir Terry.
Raising a glass to the original ineffable duo, Neil and Terry, and the beautiful story they made 🥂

Fanart Advent Calendar: Day 10
For Petrichor & Parchment, by @katnoggin. A very sweet, lovely story about Aziraphale moving to the countryside and meeting a handsome gardener.
This piece is part of a personal challenge: an advent calendar that will feature one fanart a day for some of my favorite fics, from the 1st of December to the 24th. Once again, the week-end allowed me to spend a little bit more time for this cute illustration. Happy Sunday!

You brighten my life like a Christmas light
Summary
Aziraphale is looking forward to decorating the outside of the bookshop with various Christmas lights. But that's not counting the annoying Mr. Brown, who has decreed that Christmas lights will be banned from Whickber Street this year for ecological reasons.

"Doing good again, Angel?"
Aziraphale turned to Crowley, who had just appeared beside him.
His eyes fell on the small goat the demon carried in his arms, then on the long red hair barely concealed by his shepherd's veil.
The demon nudged him on the shoulder and continued, "I bet you're responsible for the roof over their heads and keeping the straw warm."
Aziraphale whispered back, "The poor souls, no one could house them, and she was about to give birth, I couldn't let them..."
Crowley leaned over and interrupted, whispering in his ear, "Easy, Angel, I wasn't blaming you."
Suddenly, their attention was drawn to a movement in the crowd of shepherds, and following their gaze, they saw three men arrive who were clearly not locals. Their arms laden with gifts, they came to kneel before the woman holding the baby, and the eldest said in an emotional voice, "We have followed the star to find and pay homage to the newborn, the King of the Jews."
Aziraphale whispered to Crowley, a half smile on his lips, "The star, huh? What a coincidence."
Crowley shrugged and replied, "As much of a demon as I am, I can appreciate the effort of three magi coming from so far away to pay homage to a baby."
This time it was Aziraphale who nudged him on the shoulder and said, "You're such a nice dem--"
"Shut up!"
"Shh!"
A shepherd had just turned to them and looked at them with an annoyed expression as he continued, "The little one has finally stopped crying, your bickering will wake him up."
The angel and the demon looked at each other in silence before stifling a giggle.
Aziraphale chuckled slightly at the memory as he finished placing the last of the figures in the nativity scene under the decorated and lit tree that stood in the center of the bookstore.
He stepped back and let his eyes wander over the garlands and other decorations that festively lit up the bookshop. He knew he was going a bit overboard with the Christmas ornaments, but he loved this time of year, so why deprive himself.
He turned to grab the box of outdoor lights and headed for the door.
"Mr. Fell, I hope those aren't Christmas lights you have in that box?"
Aziraphale turned sharply to Mr. Brown, who had just walked up behind him, and asked, "Why? Would that be a problem?"
Mr. Brown replied, "Didn't you read the memo?"
Aziraphale tried to remember what he was talking about, but the other man didn't wait for him to answer and continued, "The use of electric garlands is restricted for environmental and aesthetic reasons.
"But..." Aziraphale tried to protest, but was cut off by Mr. Brown, who added, "No exceptions. Have a nice day."
The annoying redhead walked away without a backward glance, and Aziraphale stood speechless outside the store door for a few moments before returning inside, his cardboard box still in his arms, but looking utterly disappointed.
Little did he know that someone else had witnessed the entire scene.
Taking one last look at the angel's silhouette, whose dejection was visible even from outside the shop, Crowley strode toward the record store. A few seconds later, he emerged with Maggie and Muriel, and the three of them headed for the coffee shop.
**********
"Angel... wake up."
A hand gently shook his shoulder and Aziraphale opened his eyes to see that it was still dark.
He looked at his old alarm clock on the bedside table and, seeing the time, protested, "Crowley, it's the middle of the night, why are you waking me?"
He felt the demon move next to him and his voice whispered in his ear, "Because I have a surprise for you."
The word surprise was all the angel needed to be convinced, and he immediately sat up in bed, making the demon chuckle.
Crowley planted a kiss on his cheek and said softly, "Get dressed."
"Why?"
The demon simply replied, "Wait and see."
Aziraphale turned sharply toward him and Crowley continued, "Irritating, isn't it?"
The angel replied, "Idiot."
Crowley, a satisfied smile on his lips, watched with amusement as the angel dressed, then he walked around the bed, approached him and, grabbing his hand, dragged him down the stairs. Arriving at the bottom, he paused and, turning to Aziraphale, conjured a blindfold before gently asking, "May I?"
Aziraphale nodded and turned to allow the demon to blindfold him.
Crowley placed his hands on the angel's shoulders and asked gently, "Do you trust me to lead you?"
Aziraphale leaned his head back against the demon and replied softly, "That goes without saying, my dear."
Crowley kissed the angel's hair, nudged him gently before turning him around and walking him to the door of the bookshop. Then he stopped, made Aziraphale put on his coat, and tied a scarf around his neck.
"Oh, we're going out."
"Absolutely, Angel, you really are an excellent detective."
Aziraphale shook his head with a smile, and Crowley, who had slipped on a warm jacket himself, put his hands on the Angel's shoulders again and led him out of the bookshop, walking a few yards until they were in the middle of the street, deserted at this time of night.
Then he said quietly, "Ready, Angel?"
Aziraphale nodded and Crowley continued, "1... 2... 3... Let there be light!"
He untied the blindfold and Aziraphale opened his eyes to an overwhelming display of light.
Lights everywhere, garlands adorning every shop on the street, a festival of warm, colorful lights. He turned around with a look of amazement on his face, unable to say a word because he was so stunned.
After a few moments, he turned to the demon and said, eyes shining, "Crowley... it's... it's wonderful. But how and why and Mr. Brown and..."
Crowley chuckled softly, then took the Angel's hands in his and said softly, "Easy, Angel, one question at a time. First, the why. I witnessed your conversation with Mr. Brown, and I know this time of year is important to you, so I figured there had to be something we could do, so we'll get to the how. Well, with the help of some friends..." he pointed out the coffee-shop window to Aziraphale, who could see Maggie, Nina and Muriel inside waving their hands at him, and Crowley continued, "we put our heads together, and while everyone was asleep, I miracled all those tinsel, ornaments and Christmas lights."
"But..."
Crowley kissed the tip of Aziraphale's cold reddened nose and interrupted, "My impatient angel, let me finish, will you? Maggie and Nina are the only people here who know about us and our... powers, so they helped me concoct this little lie for Mr. Brown. All these lights are powered by a revolutionary, ultra-ecological component. And with the help of some of our other friends, he won't have to say a word. Because we're going to make Wickber Street the place to be for Christmas."
The demon snapped his fingers and an illuminated Santa Claus flashed across the sky. He snapped his fingers again and a Christmas story was projected onto the front of the music store.
Crowley continued, "Justine will be offering mulled wine to all visitors, Mr. Arnold will be playing Christmas music over the loudspeakers all along the street, and of course, everyone will come to see the gorgeous Nativity scene in front of the bookstore.
He snapped his fingers again, and the bookstore window lit up to reveal an enchanting Nativity scene, similar in every way to Aziraphale's memory.
"So you see, Angel, dear Mr. Brown won't be able to say anything, anything at all, because mmfff..."
Crowley was unable to continue because Aziraphale had thrown himself into his arms and pressed his lips to his in a rather passionate kiss.
When they parted to catch their breath, Aziraphale wrapped his arms around the demon's waist and pressed himself against his chest.
As Crowley closed his arms around him, the angel murmured in an obviously emotional voice, "Thank you, my love. You have no idea how happy this makes me."
Crowley whispered into the angel's hair, "You should know by now, Angel, that all I want is to make you happy."
Aziraphale replied against his chest, "You know I am happy without all that. This year, the most beautiful of my Christmas lights is you, my love."
Crowley chuckled softly and replied, "Oh, no, the Christmas spirit makes you even sappier."
"Don't pretend you don't like it," the angel replied.
The demon merely hummed in response, and as Aziraphale snuggled closer to him, Crowley's eyes were drawn to some movement behind the coffee shop window.
Amused, he saw their friends smiling broadly and giving him the thumbs up.
His angel was right, with or without Christmas lights, with their life here and their friends, they were both happy here.

Happy Bodhi Day!
Tumblr media
Today is Bodhi Day, which is a celebration of Buddha's enlightenment under the Bodhi tree. It's a day of reflection and peace, and I hope you all have a moment to come back to your true home today and reflect like my ineffables are doing here. The heart shaped cookies represent the heart shaped leaves of the bodhi tree and Aziraphale is reading Peace is Every Step, one of Thich Nhat Hanh's many wonderful books about walking the eightfold path. (And also I threw in Siddhartha under the bodhi tree in the painting on the wall, with the many stars representing the many paths one can follow to enlightenment). 🙂 The buddha in me, bows to the buddha in you. 🙏🌺
I made this piece for the Scribbling Vaguely Downward GO fanartists group‘s Advent Calendar which you can see here:

It started under the mistletoe on a winter night in Soho, 1881. Or perhaps it started in a flower-strewn cave in Mesopotamia.
Wherever it started, it's become a tradition for Aziraphale and Crowley to meet (almost) every festive season. Just one night where they don't have to hide their feelings for each other. It starts with a kiss, but it's always meant so much more.

Crack Taken WAY Too Seriously
Do you like character studies? Do you like strange lore about Hell? Do you like the absurdities of life (or immortality) taken both too seriously and also treated with a lens of utter nonsense?
To begin the Advent season off right, we present "Deadly Sins and Cardinal Virtues," a Good Omens fic.
Furfur's one-sided obsessive stalking of Crowley, Thee Original Tempter, has sustained him through the millennia. When Crowley's wrath turns out to be less delicious and more destructive than Furfur anticipated, he seeks sympathy from some of Hell's most elusive demonic entities. Furfur tries to take life by the antlers, but the Infernal rumor mill is working overtime since something *weird* happened in Heaven and the traitors Crowley and Aziraphale have reunited. Desperate to make some sort of impact in the world, Furfur does the only thing he knows how to do well: he stalks the Ineffable couple...although appearances can be deceiving.
Fic is complete - posting one chapter per day!!! A million ineffable thanks to @corancoranthemagicalman and @cryptic-queer-cryptid for working with me on this delightful, disgusting, heartwarming, schizophrenic, nonsensical adventure. <3

Fanart Advent Calendar: Day 8!
For Demonology and the Tri-Phasic Model of Trauma: An Integrative Approach by Nnm. An amazing, gentle, sometimes heartbreaking fic in which Crowley goes to therapy. And yes, I imagined Aubrey Thyme as Emily Blunt. I think it suits her!
This piece is part of a personal challenge: an advent calendar that will feature one fanart a day for some of my favorite fics, from the 1st of December to the 24th. Enjoy!

I'll do anything if it's with you
ummary
Crowley is rather reluctant when Aziraphale drags him out of the warmth of the bookshop into the cold of winter. And becomes even more so when he discovers it's for ice-skating.

"Angel, where are we going?"
Crowley was a little annoyed that Aziraphale had made him bundle up against the cold and dragged him outside without saying anything.
"We're almost there," Aziraphale reassured him, patting his hand.
Crowley grumbled, "Why do we have to go out in this cold? We were so comfortable on the sofa, warm in the shop."
Aziraphale chuckled softly at the annoyed demon's pout. "I'm sure you'll enjoy what we're about to do, and if you don't like it, I promise... wait till I think... a hot chocolate and lots of hugs and kisses to make up for it. "
After that, Crowley had no choice but to give in. He put up no more resistance and let Aziraphale lead him. What he didn't like, however, were the gloves the angel had forced him to wear, because it felt like a barrier between their hands. He grumbled, preferring to feel the angel's skin against his own.
Aziraphale's voice interrupted his grumbling, "Here we are."
Crowley, lost in thought, hadn't looked where they were going, and when he looked up, he realized they were in front of a huge ice rink with lots of people skating on it.
He asked, "Angel, what does that mean?"
Aziraphale raised an eyebrow and cheekily replied, "What do you think?"
Crowley shook his head and replied, "Out of the question! I don't want to make a fool of myself on the ice. I have a reputation to uphold!"
Aziraphale chuckled, "Crowley, my dear, you don't really think I'd let you make a fool of yourself, do you? Besides, I'm sure you exaggerate. Just look at the way you move when you perform a miracle, it's as beautiful as choreography. I'm sure you'll quickly find your rhythm on the ice and I'll be the one making a fool of myself."
"I doubt it," Crowley grumbled.
The angel took off a glove and stroked Crowley's cheek with the back of his hand, then when he'd put the glove back on, grabbed his hand and pulled him behind him.
Still overwhelmed by the tender caress and the angel's compliment on the way he moved, Crowley let himself be pulled along without resisting.
They walked to the skate rental place and took a ticket before sitting down on a bench to put the skates on.
Crowley stood up carefully, checking his balance and grumbling again, but a hand on his shoulder stopped him as Aziraphale said gently, "It'll be more natural on ice.
Then he slipped his arm under Crowley's and added reassuringly, "You'll see, everything will be fine."
Crowley could only soften at the way the angel was trying to make the experience as pleasant as possible, and he leaned forward to plant a light kiss on the tip of his cold, reddened nose.
Aziraphale smiled softly, and sliding his hand down the demon's arm, he grasped his hand and said, "Let's get on the ice.
They approached the opening that gave access to the rink.
Crowley was now genuinely amused by the way Aziraphale was acting, part coach, part mother hen: "I'll hold your hand at the beginning, okay?"
Crowley retorted teasingly, "You don't need an excuse to hold my hand, you know?"
"Idiot."
At the first few steps, despite all of Aziraphale's advice, Crowley tensed because he felt he had no control over anything, and God knows he didn't like that feeling at all.
Aziraphale murmured softly, "Relax, I'm here," then planted a gentle kiss on the demon's temple to calm him before continuing, "Lean on me and follow my rhythm.
Crowley chuckled softly and replied, "That's what we do best. Lean on each other and follow each other's rhythm."
Aziraphale chuckled in response and they began to move forward.
As the first lap passed without incident, Crowley smiled proudly and regained some of his aplomb. But he didn't let go of Aziraphale's hand.
To be honest, he wouldn't have let go even if he were perfectly balanced.
He dared to take slightly larger strides to increase their speed, feeling more and more at ease.
The breeze was exhilarating. Crowley looked at the rest of the trees and the landscape around them, the Christmas lights, and let the speed carry him away.
As always when he was with Aziraphale, there was something exhilarating about doing things that humans do, whatever it was.
Crowley asked Aziraphale, "Will it be there all winter?"
"As long as the temperatures allow, I suppose."
"Then we can come back?" asked Crowley eagerly.
Aziraphale smiled affectionately at Crowley's cold reddened cheeks and replied, "We've only just started and you want to come back already?
Crowley simply nodded, pleased at the happy expression he'd put on the angel's face.
Aziraphale pulled Crowley to him, wrapped his arms around him, and kissed him tenderly on the ice. They stayed there, indifferent to the skaters who curved to avoid them.
By the end of the evening, Aziraphale had held up his end of the bargain. They were now both snuggled up together, kissing on the sofa, wrapped in a cozy blanket, two steaming cups of hot chocolate on the coffee table. As they parted to catch their breath, Crowley said softly, "What a lovely reward."
Aziraphale blushed slightly and replied softly, "The reward is just as pleasant for me.”
Snuggling up to the demon, he added, "It's great that none of us fell today."
An eerie silence answered him, and he felt the demon stiffen slightly.
"Crowley?"
He looked up to see Crowley's face and, noting the guilty look on his face, asked, "Did you have anything to do with the fact that none of us fell?"
Crowley replied in a falsely innocent voice, "Natural skill?"
But Aziraphale saw the mischievous gleam in his eyes and insisted, "Crowley..."
The demon replied cheekily, "A little demonic miracle of my own?"
Aziraphale burst out laughing, and when he finally calmed down under Crowley's amused gaze, he straightened and murmured against his lips, "I suppose I should have known better. This side of you is one of the sides I love the most, and if I hadn't loved you for centuries, I would have fallen in love with you right now. My dear, mischievous demon."
He laughed softly again before leaning forward and kissing the demon tenderly. When he pulled away, Crowley said jokingly, "Now that I know that just using some of my abilities gets me this special treatment, I'm going to use them more often."
Aziraphale laughed again, then used all his skill to wipe the impertinent smile from the lips of his cheeky demon.

Hello!
Thank you so much for the work you’re doing, this blog literally is a national treasure ☺️ somehow it’s August already, so to cheer myself a little it would be awesome to read some proposal fics, I’m craving something nice and wholesome right now, as I’m sure, a lot of us do. Any raiting would do, and of course, the longer the merrier :)))
Hi and you’re welcome! It is definitely no longer August, but here are some proposal fics for you...
Waiting Until Marriage by IneffableDoll (T)
Aziraphale tells Crowley one day that they ought to “wait until marriage.” Crowley is deeply confused for two reasons: a) Neither of them is interested in sex. b) When, exactly, did they agree to get married?
love rings true by asideofourown (G)
Aziraphale stared down at the box, his heartbeat thundering in his ears. He had seen this kind of box before, of course, and he knew what was usually inside them, but surely—
Aziraphale carefully popped open the box, and his jaw dropped when he saw the ring inside. It was— Crowley had— he had an engagement ring? Because this was very, very clearly an engagement ring, round and gold and surprisingly simple given the demon’s usually ostentatious taste.
Aziraphale quickly closed the box again and stuffed it back in the drawer, his mind whirling. Why in the world would Crowley have an engagement ring? Had it been given to him, or had he— had he gotten it to give to someone else?
[Aziraphale stumbles upon a ring in Crowley's flat and jumps to conclusions]
Be my husband by candelina (T)
5 times Aziraphale tried to propose to Crowley and 1 time he did it (and he got an unexpected reaction).
~~~
Aziraphale’s plan was to do it in 2041. He and Crowley had been together since 1941, when the angel finally realised two very important things: the demon loved him and his feelings were mutual. A 100th anniversary was indeed a very special occasion and what better moment to ask the love of your life to marry you? It was a perfect plan. Unfortunately, a much bigger Plan had to ruin it all.
Anywhere You Go, I'll Be Right Behind You by PositivePumpkin (G)
He might be going too fast again, but at least if Aziraphale rejected him, the idea would be put in his head and he could try again in a few thousand years. And maybe, if he kept the ring, it would protect him.
Or, Crowley tries to make the perfect proposal.
You are HoMe (Half of Me) by angelsnuffbox (T)
Aziraphale had gotten dumped, plain and simple. But that small detail wasn’t nearly as important as all the things that happened after he’d gotten dumped - such as coming to a few realisations about his best friend of sixteen years.
All The Seasons Of My Heart (Ineffable Advent) by Z A Dusk (M)
It started under the mistletoe on a winter night in Soho, 1881. Or perhaps it started in a flower-strewn cave in Mesopotamia.
Wherever it started, it's become a tradition for Aziraphale and Crowley to meet (almost) every festive season. Just one night where they don't have to hide their feelings for each other. It starts with a kiss, but it's always meant so much more.
This is part UST-fuelled slow burn and part soft, soft historical-to-modern romance.
