What if we do something for May 10? Since that's both what is often cited as the date the book published (in 1990) and it's the day St Dunstan in the East Church (Neil's inspiration for the scene) would've matched up with the Blitz scene (1941).
Fan works set between '41 and '90, anyone?
Because that's nearly 50 years of them both knowing the other would save them. That's 50 years of "you can't deny this feeling".
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love that 1967 (another Hard Times cold open scene year) is when London decided to turn it INTO A GARDEN.
What's a nice simple tag for it?
EDIT in case anyone shares from the original post: We're doing 'Ineffable May 10' for any of your Good Omens celebrations around these 33 years off fandom! I'm happy to see OLD AND NEW fan works boosted especially from between 1941 and 1990!
On Twitter it's #IneffableMay10 🌈😇😈

Happy Ineffable May! I’m so glad I finished this drawing on time for the anniversary, AND for the very exciting announcement. It took 17 hours over 8 months, but I’m so glad I stuck through it!

Wahoo! We’re getting more of them on July 28th!
I was looking for outfit inspo for Aziraphale and saw a nifty gay lil scarf/tie thingy and just knew he'd try that fashion piece out in the 70s. Of course in tartan, because tartan is stylish!

Ineffable May 10! Set in Atlanta, GA, USA in 1967, shortly before the tartan thermos was handed over in Soho. Title taken from the Nina Simone song. Rated T. https://archiveofourown.org/works/42469584

Rating: G
Wordcount: 4,382
Summary:
The only thing Aziraphale can say for certain is that the books should not have survived. He's going to need to sit down for a while and sort out all the rest. Unfortunately, he isn't very good at processing emotions, especially ones he's been in denial about for who knows how long. It's a messy process.

So, here I have just posted my new story for the "Ineffable May 10" (proposed by @seedsofwinter ).
But I have some old stories as well. Some are from other challenges I've done.
I'll post chronologically (by year).
(to read them, just click on the titles)
• "Like on a beach..." [1941]
Crowley had just saved Aziraphale's books but the "beach" wasn't so harmless.
{Fluffbruary 2023, day 3: beach, (2023/02/03)}
• "Freezing Hell" [1980s]
And the road to Hell is paved with good intentions*.
*This is not actually true. The road to Hell is paved with frozen door-to-door salesmen. On the weekend many of the younger demon's go ice skating down it. (cit. Good Omens)
Hell isn't just the hottest pit with pools of boiling sulfur: Hell is also the coldest place possible. And Crowley hates that.
Thank goodness someone has a coat for him.
{Whumptober 2022: No. 18 LET’S BREAK THE ICE - "Take my Coat", (2022/10/19)}
• "What doesn't kill me, makes me sleepy" [1987]
Crowley receive a commendation and he suffers for that.
{Whumptober 2022: No. 29 WHAT DOESN’T KILL ME… - Sleep Deprivation, (2022/11/01)}
• "Food poisoning" [1989]
"Aziraphale has a bad stomach pains. Crowley comes to help. Someone has been a b...ad angel.
{Whumptober 2022: No. 8 EVERYTHING HURTS AND I’M DYING - Stomach Pain, (2022/10/09)}
• "Paleontologist's joke" [1994]
Aziraphale had done his part of the arrangement and he had taken a little souvenir for Crowley.
{Fluffbruary 2023, day 12: amber, (2023/02/13)}
Oh, I have two old anniversary stories: "Anywhere you want (Picnic with the Serpentine [demon])" and "Black as a devil, pure as an angel" (both of those are set after the Armageddon't).
That's all, folks!
I hope you'll like those! 🥰

Wake up, Good Omens fandom! We're doing something special!
Ineffable May 10
Tumblr media
May 10 is both what is often cited as the date the book published (in 1990) and it's the day St Dunstan in the East Church (Neil's inspiration for the scene) would've matched up with the episode 3 Blitz scene (1941).
Bring on your fan works set between '41 and '90!
New or already shared fan works alike, they cover nearly 50 years of Crowley and Aziraphale knowing the other would absolutely, without a doubt save them. That's 50 years of "you can't deny this feeling".
40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s. There's so much you can do with those eras, for Aziraphale and Crowley, other angels and demons, and even many of the humans! Especially in bookverse.
Or do something AU and toss canon to the wind!
(I personally love that 1967, another Hard Times cold open scene year, is when London decided to turn the remains of the Blitz scene church INTO A GARDEN. Crowley definitely had something to do with that.)
You can use the tag for any Good Omens celebrations you have on May 10 but especially for showing those fan works set between 1941 (the Blitz scene!) and 1990 (when the book came out!)
AND HEY!
ANY HELP getting the word out is super. I am but a small fan with an even smaller reach. I want anyone who wants to participate to have a chance to hear about it! Thanks SO SO MUCH!
And speaking of thanks: THANK YOU @flantasticclaude for your enthusiasm for this sudden fandom event, and stepping in to make the above wonderful, rainbow-filled graphic to get the word out.🌈😇😈
Let's all have an amazing fandom celebration on May 10!

Gift (Quadruple Drabble)
my contribution to ineffable may 10! hope you enjoy!
“Aziraphale, don’t you think this has gone on for long enough?”
Or; how Aziraphale got the holy water.
Also on AO3
1966
“Aziraphale, don’t you think this has gone on for long enough?”
Aziraphale swallowed the lump in his throat. It really had, hadn’t it? He’d always known this was temporary, that one day he would have to go back to real work, not just performing miracles and blessings all day long.
“What do you mean?”
“You know, your adversary.”
Oh. Right.
His stomach dropped.
“I do admire the way you’ve been thwarting him. It really is quite impressive, but…” Gabriel sighed. Aziraphale could almost mistake it for sympathetic. “Aren’t you getting tired?”
“Oh. Er, yes, it is rather tiring, I’m afraid. But I suppose there’s really nothing we can do about it. Is there?”
That would probably end the conversation. Anything that tired Aziraphale was inevitably part of the Great Plan, and, as such, never to be questioned.
Gabriel reached into his desk drawer. There was no hint of sympathy in his eyes anymore. “There is.”
“But—”
Gabriel held a bottle. His arm was outstretched towards Aziraphale.
The liquid in the bottle was so transparent that Aziraphale could see himself in it, could see his wide eyes, could see his own trembling fingers wrapping around it.
It felt heavy in his hands, and he couldn’t bring himself to take his eyes off it. It couldn’t be what he thought it was.
“Is this—”
“Holy water, yes. The holiest. I blessed it myself.”
Surely this couldn’t be right. Surely this wasn't what She wanted. Surely Gabriel wasn’t expecting him to—
“Think about it.”
Then, he was back on Earth.
He closed his eyes and breathed, taking in the familiar smell of yellowed books and old furniture. At least he was in his bookshop now.
Perhaps, soon, he would have nothing else left.
His breath hitched. No, that wouldn’t happen. Not on his watch. Never.
Although…hadn’t Crowley asked for holy water? Aziraphale hadn’t been able to fathom why, but he felt like he was beginning to understand.
And he couldn’t deny Crowley what he wanted.
He looked at the bottle and pursed his lips. It was so monochrome, so bland, not at all appealing to the eye.
And surely it must have gotten cold, he thought as he poured it carefully into a thermos. The one with the tartan pattern on it, the one Crowley had bought for him.
He put it away in a cupboard, and hoped it would stay there.

Ineffable May 10!
Happy Bookiversary y'all. Apparently we're supposed to post works set between 1941 and 1990 today. Most of my fic is post-Apocanope, but I do have two that fit in this time period:
the taste of dried-up hopes - covers the holy water fight, with a chapter each on 1862, 1941 and 1967. Emotional hurt/comfort with a hopeful ending.
Blood Makes Noise - set in the 1980s, background mentions of the Satanic Panic. Hurt/comfort, heavy on the hurt. (Mind the tags, this is my darkest fic.)

For Ineffable May 10: my mom has this Sweatin’ to the Oldies VHS tape that I used to try and exercise in my mid twenties and have some fond childhood memories of. Therefore, for 80s Ineffables: an homage to that video! With apologies to Richard Simmons, I suppose. I know Aziraphale’s shorts aren’t tiny enough.
