From the 1872 Sears and Roebuck catelog to Walden and other works of philosophy, etiquette handbooks to the media terms and conditions we all just click through to use our latest software or smart device, manuals, how tos, etc. there is a boring book for everyone. Even my biggest chunk of insomnia is no match for 2 episodes or so of BBB. If your podcast app has a sleep timer that stops at the end of an episode, that's perfect. Boy, depression and anxiety compel me to tell you all about a different type of podcast than my normal review, Rick Steves Audio Tours from at @ricksteveseurope . Growing up in the Pacific Northwest means I grew up on Rick Steves travel documentaries on Public Television, so it was a magical moment when I stumbled across Rick Steves Audio Tours as I scrolled through Pocketcasts a while ago, looking for chill relaxation content. Sure, sure, these podcast are meant to be played as an audio guide as you wander your way through Vienna or Rome or Prague, but ignore that as Rick and his compatriot, Lisa, use their soothing, yet informative tour guide magic to sweep your brain away from whatever ails you. From a bus tour of Barcelona to Greek ruins, you can still take a mini brain vacation. Delta varient may have you rightly cautious about travel, but you can live vicariously with these informative audio guides. And while I'm almost certain my first luggage tags were bought at a Rick Steves store, there's nothing you need to buy to enjoy these. Note that each country Rick has a guide for has its own podcast feed, and the majority all have the same image on the front, so if you search it and see like 10 with the same cover, that's what's up with that. If you love a distraction from reality while you fall asleep á la the "sweep me away sandman" narration of "How it's Made", meditate, putter around, or heck, if you're actually out their with you feet on the ground, than Rick Steves Audio Tours are for you.
