❪ ⭑ ❫ starlight: chapter 5───lee know.
05. disneyland tokyo.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
ꕀ cw. beauty and the beast & winnie the pooh mentioned! , mentions of food , cutesy stuff overall ; wc. 0.9k
Tumblr media
we split up for the first ride at disneyland because we all had different priorities before we actually began the game.
hyunjin and I ended up at ‘the enchanted tale of beauty and beast’, an animated retelling which included a whole setup of the beast’s castle too. plus, since it was his and my favourite disney tale, we had even more fun.
hyunjin was more attentive towards the camera (for our vlog) because I couldn’t care less about it when I was watching a retelling of my favourite story.
soon after, to begin our ‘quests’, we had to start participating in rides and games together.
in the ‘monsters inc. ride and go seek’ game, we tallied our scores by the end to see which team could ‘reveal’ the maximum number of monsters (the rules of any of the games didn’t make sense, but who cared?).
I dragged han and minho with me to ‘pooh’s honey hunt’, which counted more as a story and less as a game, but for the sake of nostalgia and love for the old cartoon, we went.
lastly, we went to the haunted mansion with mini loudness indicators strapped to our collars to see who could get the least and highest scores.
we entered in a line, one behind the other, but quickly shuffled around (as soon as the door shut loudly) with muffled yelps.
my eyes adjusted to the dark pretty quickly, which I guess I owe to the countless nights I spent in practice rooms without many lights.
I saw hyunjin and felix holding hands tightly. han and jeongin clung tightly to chris’ shirt. changbin’s eyes were wide open, trying to see better. seungmin was as non-chalant as you’d expect him to be. and at last, I looked down to see minho’s fingers interlaced tightly with mine.
“scared kitty?” I whispered to him, and flashed him a grin.
“you wish,” he scoffed. “it’s because you’re gonna get scared later.”
“liar,” I remarked, and he nodded a little.
he was, indeed, a liar. and he knew it when we exited the haunted mansion and the staff told us that his and han’s were the loudest screams to be recorded.
“lee know-ssi and jisung-ssi were louder than the rest. hyunjin-ssi and y/n-ssi barely made any sound, though,” a staff member said.
“how was hyunjin less louder than the rest of us? he’s literally a drama queen!” seungmin protested. hyunjin stuck his tongue out at seungmin and walked away with that attitude of his.
by the time the sun set, the ‘electrical parade dreamlights’, a nighttime light parade, began.
all the members and I were walking slowly as we watched the lights flicker once in a while.
I was reviewing footage from the day, and I came across one video from a rollercoaster.
minho was sitting next to me, and the video was a little blurry. I asked him if he was okay, because of his fear of heights. and the fact that he was sitting beside me, in the first row.
“if you fall, i’ll catch you,” I said to him, joking.
“I already did,” he whispered, smiling softly at me, before the rollercoaster began and the audio was just felix and hannie screaming their lungs out.
I replayed the video twice, just to process what he had said. I hadn’t heard it when he said it on the rollercoaster because of han’s constant bickering from the second row. but… now? now, I was listening to the same clip. twice. thrice.
was I reading too much into it? or… what?
“I need food,” minho’s voice grumbled beside me. he sat down and rested his head on my shoulder. I tensed for a second, before relaxing. his presence felt comfortable, and the heat radiating from his body felt like home.
“you should try winning some time, then,” I taunted him. he pushed his head up from my shoulder and glared at me.
“noona!” jeongin’s voice suddenly boomed like a speaker was installed in place of his voice box.
he came skipping to the bench. “isn’t this footage perfect for the cover?”
he played the video, shoving himself in between minho and me.
the video he recorded was just a few frames long, from the time during sunset, and everything was chaotic… except, my eyes kept straying to a small set of pixelated hands brushing against each other—minho’s and mine.
it felt like a cute detail to leave in the video, and just thinking about it made blood rush to my neck and cheeks.
I compliment jeongin on his extremely clever and strategic cameramanship, and left the ‘loser table’ to go to the winners’ table—my table.
somehow, han, hyunjin, and I had won most of the challenges. we got delicious food as a result, while the other members were given boring meals.
I looked back to a sulking minho and slipped him some of my pudding and a slice of hyune’s chicken pizza. his eyes twinkled as he smiled.
soon after, we ended up sharing all our food with the rest of the members and staff as well, who had worked hard in keeping the chaotic kids in line for an entire day.
we returned to our hotel rooms, and all of us fell asleep in a huge cuddle pile in chan’s room.

A Breakdown of my New Impldoll 1/4 Plump Body (with a MNF Alicia head)
So I've had this body since April, as I ordered right at the release of the Impldoll 1/4 Plump body in real skin back in January/February 2024 to make use of the event to get extra hands and feet. I also got the Susu head, but I split it off with @poupeesdecirque (who made an amazing modded hybrid out of it) as I didn't need it.
I had intended at first to hybrid my DiM Gayane on the body, but then I realized that despite all the annoyance I had with her default body, I didn't see her as super curvy... So I decided to put my Fairyland MNF Alicia on it.
Tumblr media
Here she is once I got her a dress. There is nothing slim about this body, so don't even bother getting her slim mini clothes, they will not fit. The dress is intended for Iplehouse JID girls with the glamour bust (my girl has the large bust), but I do think she can share shoes with MNFs from what I've noticed, as mine is wearing her old MNF sized shoes easily.
I'm gonna post the nude doll body pics under the read more cut:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Let's take a brief look at the body upon opening it. Look, no flat butt!! I gotta say, the level of detail on this body is insane. Like the detailing along the areola and the finger knuckles are beautifully done.
The one thing I am a little confused on is that her groin lacks all definition. It's just an odd choice with such a body, as she has even defined knuckles on her toes, but they haven't put anything there for girl dolls since the SGB Star Body, that one didn't have any crotch detailing.
Oh well, not much I can do about that other than mod it myself. But since my girl doesn't go commando, I don't care enough to add the detailing myself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now let's compare the Fairyland MNF A-Line girl body to the Impldoll 1/4 plump body. The Impldoll body is a good bit taller and thicker!
I took off the S-Hook and put a 3D Printed neck key on it as the neck would be way too short with just a washer. MNFs have really thick necks on top, so there is gapping, but it's no noticeable one the wig is on. Let's get a good turnaround view:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the side and back view the gapping his more noticeable, but she stands solid. I did wire her arms legs as she liked to kick herself, but now she is great.
Impldoll even sent her with some coated wire to install as the owner. I used aluminum wire from my own stock as the Impldoll one was a titch too weak and thin to hold up against the elastic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She sits easily on her legs, and can easily sit with her knees raised to her chest. The engineering is really nice on this aesthetic body, and Impldoll provides a lot of colors to choose from.
But do keep in mind any non "standard" colors (color matching and darker resins) there will be a good several month delay in getting your order. They mentioned this on their Instagram recently as people got worried about waiting 6+ months for dolls that others received within 3 or less months (I ordered a standard color, so it was fast).
Tumblr media
I'll end the post with a small resin comparison. I have many other normal skins I can compare, to Impldoll real skin, such as DV normal pink and normal (yellow toned), 2D Doll normal yellow, DFA normal pink, TD Doll normal pink, etc... so just let me know if you want a resin comparison and I will do so.
Thanks for looking!

Baby thoughts
Warning:pregnancy pregnant baby
Since the second you found out, Buck had been glued to your side. It had been three weeks since you took that test, since your doctor had confirmed it and in that time you had, had to convince him every single day that he could leave you and go to work. Every day he fought you, wanting the both of you to stay home so you could rest and he could wait on your every want and need, but you couldn’t do that. You were only thirteen weeks along and there was hardly any reason to be confined to the bed just yet. You knew that he was only concerned about the safety of you and the peach you currently carried in your womb. It was endearing and one of the sweetest things you’d ever seen, you hadn’t thought that Buck could get any sweeter, but here you were one act away from having a mouth full of cavities.
What hadn’t helped was that Buck had been responding to several pregnancy calls in the past few weeks a few resulting in sadder endings than anyone wanted. They had struck a chord with Buck and had only made him hover all the more.
Adding the water to your cordial, you took a sip of the orange, a light buzz filling your taste buds. You had become obsessed with anything orange-flavored since your pregnancy diagnosis. Whether it was orange Skittles (which Buck had kindly sat and sorted out for you), or orange flavored chocolate, or even the orange-flavored cupcakes you had found at the grocery store and ate within an hour of buying, anything orange and you were all for it.
Walking back into the garden, your entire body seemed to clench a little as you stepped back into the gaze of the sun. As much as you were enjoying this downtime with the 118, it was so hot. The heatwave had only hit LA in the past few days but already it was in full swing and you were feeling every beam of it.
“Y/n,” you turned over to where Athena was sitting with Hen and her daughter May. The three of them stood around the mini bar that Athena had installed, in direct sunlight. Already hot, you fought down the urge to grimace as you moved to stand by them, the sun glaring on your skin. “We were just telling May about Buck and that kiddie ride at the mall. She doesn’t believe us.” Hen informed and a grin split across your lips, taking your mind off of the sweltering heat.
“Oh my, God. I have a photo, hang on,” You pulled your phone out of your shoulder bag and set your drink on the bar, thumb flicking through the many photos in your gallery in search of the one from the Saturday before. “He thought it was funny and I tried to tell him he wouldn’t fit but he insisted,” You giggled and turned your phone for May to see. “I honestly thought I’d have to call nine-one-one.”
Displayed across your screen was the photo that still had you giggling a week later. There sat Buck, who had squeezed his way into the small metal bus which was aimed for children 7 and under. But Buck had twisted his body at all kinds of angles and had somehow managed to worm his way into the ride. His head was poked out of the door hole, his legs curled up against his chest, unable to stretch out in the tiny space that his body was occupying.
What Athena and the others didn’t know was that Buck wouldn’t have gotten into the ride if it wasn’t for you. That morning your hormones had been playing you like a fiddle and every little thing had upset you, the bin bag had broken when you were trying to change it out for a new one, somehow a red sock had slipped in with your whites and now everything you owned was slightly toned pink and they had shown that advert with the puppy sat in a box, in the rain, on the side of the street with people walking past ignoring it. It seemed, that morning, that everything was stacked against you. Buck had offered to come with you to the mall so you could pick up your clothing order from a store, you had ordered certain items that they didn’t have in stock and they had delivered to the store the day before. You were buzzing to see the new pair of pumps you had ordered. You knew that in a few months if not weeks, the shoes would probably be pressing against the sides of your feet and ankles because of the pregnancy swelling, but that hadn’t stopped you from ordering them in your size. However, like everything else that morning, even that didn’t go as planned. The shoes had been delivered in the wrong color and in a size smaller than you wanted, making them impossible to wear. Buck had seen how disheartened you had been when you left the store, trying not to cry in frustration. He had wanted to do something to cheer you up and in a joking manner, he had made a bet with you that he could fit inside the kiddie bus ride.
It had succeeded in cheering you up, if not from how silly he looked, his large muscular frame curled up inside the ride, from when he got stuck and couldn’t get himself out straight away. You had done what you could to help him out, but you were giggling so hard your entire body went weak. When he had finally gotten out, the two of you had continued to giggle all the way home and your mood had been lifted for the rest of the day.
“Oh, my God,” May giggled. “That’s the funniest thing I’ve ever seen. Please send me that!” she begged.
“Of course,” you agreed with a laugh of your own. “I could never gate keep on a photo like this.”
“What made him get in there?”
“It’s Buck, does he need a reason?” Hen scoffed. As the ladies continued to giggle, the heat seemed to make its presence known as it glared down at you. The side of your temples was beginning to throb and your skin was starting to get slick and sticky, sweat oozing from your pores. You raised a hand to swipe at your brow, glancing around the garden for the closest seat, your legs aching.
As you moved towards one of the sun loungers, your boyfriend’s eyes caught onto your movements, already on high alert.
“Y/n? What’s wrong?” he asked, abandoning his drink at the grill and rushing towards you, one arm slipping around your waist to help guide you to the seat.
“Buck, I’m-”
“Dammit, it’s too hot out here for you. We should’ve canceled,” he began muttering to himself. “Are you dizzy? Do you need a drink of water? What about something to eat? Is your blood sugar low? What if you’re dehydrated?” The only thing making you dizzy was the hurricane of questions Buck was sending your way, not even leaving a chance for you to answer them. One of his hands instinctively came to rest on the front of your stomach.
“Babe? Baby?” You tried to pull Buck out of his panicked rant, his eyes not once meeting yours as he kept scanning you for any visible injuries. Not that there were any, but the paranoia was getting the best of him and the heat probably wasn’t helping.
“We should get you in the shade,” he decided. “Shit, you should’ve stayed inside. You’re carrying precious cargo now, baby. You and Peach can’t take this heat. We shouldn’t have come. This is all my fault-”
“Buck!” You pressed your hands to the sides of his face, directing his eyes to yours so you could try and ground him. “Buck, baby, I’m fine. We’re fine. I’m just a little hot and tired that’s all. It’s normal.” He still seemed a little uncertain, and his eyes held a lifetime of worry for you and his unborn child. “We’re okay. I promise.” You offered him a reassuring smile, your thumb coming to brush against his bottom lip rhythmically, giving him something to focus on. His eyelids pressed shut as he breathed slowly for a second.
“Are you sure? ‘Cause we can go home-”
“We’re fine. I just need to sit for a minute that’s all.” You peeked over his shoulder. “While I’m sitting, we should probably talk to the people behind you, they seem a little shocked. You kind of let the cat out of the bag.” Buck twisted his head to look around at the team behind him, everyone stood, jaws dropped and eyes wide. Eddie was the most comical of the bunch, his glass halfway raised to his mouth ready to take a sip but frozen in time with the news that Buck had unintentionally shared.
“H-Hey, guys,” He chuckled awkwardly with a sheepish grin. “I guess we have some news to share.”

Every time my dad visits, I struggle to understand him. I struggle to assess our common understandings. I struggle to interact with him in a meaningful way.
I used to be a car person. I used to dream up the cars I'd own and what mods I would have on them. I'd try them out in Forza, and this is what drove me to get my GED and become a mechanic. I was obsessed. This worked well with my dad because I'd reckon most white guys are car people, too, to some degree. I was enriched with tools for gifts and our time spent talking was almost always about cars and motorcycles.
But that was before. Now, I'm focused on a deeply personal mission to make my community's HVAC system as efficient as possible; arrived at by personally seeking knowledge over years and years, and also running breathlessly into the world of cars and being knocked on my ass by the intolerance of the people in that world.
I got swept up in the mystical world of radios, which paired well with my dad, as well, who got his technician license shortly after I did, because wireless communication appealed to his sense of independence.
Instead of running face-first into hyper-masculinity, I ran into a door too small to squeeze into. Being a radio technician was not to be.
So, I moved onto biology. Also something my dad is interested in. He likes trees and has plenty of urban wildlife stories. But he is over 50, and a few months ago, I taught him that trees actually consume oxygen at night as part of cellular respiration; it was news to him. Biology wasn't to be, either; I was overwhelmed by the workload placed on my by college and I burnt out.
So here I am, now. I've tried on many costumes. I've learned a little in a lot of places. I've sought out a role for myself to fill. I lost interest in cars and motorcycles. I'm always fascinated by life, but I can't focus on it anymore. Radios are always cool, but there's no one to talk to; or any reason to. I'm terrified of diving.
So I have HVAC, now. It's the current costume I'm wearing. I have a moral mission informed by my experiences roasting in the summer and by my ever-increasing knowledge of the climate crisis. It's all I can do. In my free time, I care for my frogs, I play single-player video games, I prepare for D&D with my club. I dream a lot, too. I don't have any partners, in part because I don't know where to meet my people, and in part because I've lost interest in others, but if I did. . . I just know my family would be weird about it at best.
I don't know how to fit either of my parents into my life, if I'm honest. There's no place for them. There's nothing they can do to enrich it. When I'm around them, I feel tense. I don't want to say the wrong thing. I don't want to hear how far apart we are.
My dad took my brother and I to a car museum. I loathe cars, now. I drive one, sure. But I don't care for them. I learned that there's a completely different way of living, and I desire it dearly; why would there be any ounce of love left for them? But I go anyways, because on some level, I have to. The museum stinks of oily rags. It is a familiar smell, but one that now gives me a headache. I do a circuit, then head outside to breathe in the somewhat-fresh air. I say somewhat because the museum is next to I-5, and the tire noise erases anything sweeter that may have once been in its place.
I walk around the side to look at the building's massive outdoor units; two big, 6-comrpessor, 460v AC + boiler units. I am amazed that the compressors have a locked-rotor amp rating of 125. Can you imagine? I spied a mini-split system, too. A Mitsubishi. It uses R-410A and has a base refrigerant weight of 6oz. For every additional 25 feet of line, though, you must add 0.6 oz of refrigerant to it. There is a spot on the label for the installer to record the total weight of refrigerant in the system after install. It is left blank. Poor practice. Anyone servicing it, now, must estimate it by measuring the lines, if they can access them.
I'm supposed to be spending time with my dad, but instead I'm outside, alone. I don't wanna look at old cars who spewed lead into the atmosphere and probably killed their drivers just as often as they killed bystanders. I don't want to see the machines that my world was built around.
The museum has a section on fossil fuels and climate change. I half-expected to see some denial or distortion of history. No doubt there was some, but it's the solution to these issues that annoyed me the most. In essence, the plaques and exhibits said "let's make use of biofuels, hybrids, and electric cars to minimize emissions; and lets use renewable energy sources to reduce the carbon footprint of automobile manufacturing." fucking what. You wanna keep making cars? Unbelievable.
There was not a single mention of reducing car-dependency or electrified rail. My headache got worse. What did I expect? Car people are going to find a way to keep cars in their place.
What does this have to do with my dad? In a way, he's a barometer for sentiments on certain things. He still thinks I'm interested in internal combustion engines. I hate them. I hate their noises and their fumes. I know precisely how they work, and I could fix a broken one, but I despise what they represent and I just wish they would go away. I wish they weren't the topic of conversation anymore.
I'm tired of grave stakes and the horrors of the world. I want to feel hope again. I want to meet people who share my goals. I want to talk about a thriving future. But fuck, it is hard to do in Tacoma. I want to put a heat hump in every home. I want my tools to be part of a tool-sharing program. I want enough resources to contribute to mutual aid. I want electrified public transit so I can get rid of my car. I want bike infrastructure so I can use the damn thing to get around. I want empty parking lots torn up and replaced with green spaces.
I want to be part of it all and I want to talk with the people who already are. And instead I have my family and everyone else in this city. I'm too afraid to speak, lest I risk showing that I don't know enough. Too afraid to tell my dad I'm not interested in these things anymore because then we will have NOTHING. That will be very sad.
I'm tired. I put together a playlist of things to give me hope because I am trudging through a depression, again. Putting them on in the background while I click through Baldur's Gate 3 again because I can't sleep, but I don't have the brain power to write out my next session or do something bold and creative. I'm soulsapped.
Tomorrow will be the last time my niece celebrates her birthday in this state. She, her brother, and my sister are all moving to Illinois. We'll be at our grandparent's place. It is being referred to as the "last time we'll all be together." Grandpa's health is failing. He's about to be in hospice, if he isn't already. On one hand, I should be there just for the sake of it. I know I'd want as many people around if i was dying. Grandpa's always been cooler than his wife. She's the true reason I don't want to go. I don't like being around her.
I don't like all the "God Bless America" shit in her home. What is there to be proud of? I'm getting off track.
There's no point in raising my voice. I must be a neutral vessel everywhere I go. This is the only place I can ever express myself. Outside, I weight my guilt against my desire to push them all away. It is those days where I am compelled to spend time with family where I feel the most trapped.

May 16th - Odaiba
I made my way down to breakfast after actually going to bed at a reasonable time, and for the first time, they had scrambled eggs. Unfortunately, they were pretty disappointing, so I stuck with my usual lineup, plus some peaches! I originally thought they were mango, but I was pleasantly surprised when they turned out to be peaches instead.
Our first excursion of the day was the TeamLab modern art exhibit, the one we’ve been seeing plastered all over Tokyo’s metro stations and social media feeds. The experience was divided into elemental sections: water, forest, and garden. We were initially hesitant about the water area, we figured it would just be the ankle-deep wading we first walked into, but it exploded into what was essentially an adult playground. After passing a miniature waterfall, we entered a sensory room called the Soft Black Hole, which felt like the padded psych wards but not in a terrifying way. After that, the path led us to one of the coolest exhibits: the Infinite Crystal Universe. We spent a good chunk of time there just watching the light show ripple through the dangling strands. Next up was a giant koi pond that transformed into a glowing, animated fish highway. Then we entered a room filled with huge bubbles? Not entirely sure but Aidan launched one into us so forcefully that our souls reverberated, which he happily doubled over laughing at.
After that came the forest section, which we had to speed-run. The Moss Garden of Resonating Microcosms reminded us of the Chicago Bean if it had been built in Easter Island. The rest of the forest zone was a mini entertainment zone filled with interactive games and installations. Sadly, the lines were too long and we only had an hour (cough cough), so we didn’t have time to try them, but the walls were covered in animations that moved as we touched them. I was most looking forward to the garden, and it absolutely did not disappoint. The entire room was filled with orchids, which are my favorite flower and a delightful surprise. Alex, Gui, and I took some time to have a mini photoshoot among the blooms before meeting back up with the rest of the group.
After teamLab, we hopped on the train and passed Tokyo Big Sight. Which looked a little sillier than I expected. Our next stop was the BBQ Beach, and we were all super excited. Some people were worried about dietary restrictions, but it worked out perfectly, and there was plenty of food to go around. We split into two groups: Aruba was our group’s chef, and I think Quinn took charge of the other one. Aruba was a total beast on the grill; everything was cooked perfectly, and the rest of us were vultures circling the fire. I munched on garlic bread, grilled veggies, rice balls, chicken, and even a scallop donated by Group 2. Emily got taken out by a tomahawk bone and passed out after eating it. Gui keeps putting us onto drinks during this trip, this time he showed us how good the orange juice was, and trust when I say we kept going back for refills. The BBQ ended with s’mores, but instead of chocolate squares, they gave us chocolate sauce, and the marshmallows were… suspiciously marshmallowy. Maybe too sweet? I couldn’t quite place it, but I didn’t like it. After that minor letdown, I was inspired by Alex and Emily and took a nap on the couch until it was time to leave.
Our next stop was Daiba Itchome Shōtengai, which was really amazing. It had a nostalgic 1950s–60s vibe and was way cheaper than other shopping areas we’ve visited. I grabbed a bunch of souvenirs, even though we only had 10 minutes there (which was nowhere near enough time). Afterward, we made a quick trip to the giant 1:1 Gundam statue and took a group photo before splitting off for the evening. Alex, Gui, Will.I.Am, Xan, and I headed back to Asakusa to see if we could find more souvenirs, but everything there felt very overpriced, especially compared to what we’d just seen at Daiba Itchome. Still, I managed to grab a few things before we headed back to the hotel to start packing for our 11 a.m. luggage transfer on the 17th.
Academic Reflection
Murayama and Parker explore the balance needed to create an “amenity environment”, a space where “work,” “live,” and “play” are all sustained into urban hubs. While they reference several cities, the two authors primarily focus on Odaiba and the quality of its mixed land use. In the post-industrial era, tourism and leisure have become major stakeholders in city planning, particularly in Japanese society. Consumption spaces are often prioritized, which means the needs of investors and tourists typically take precedence over the needs of local residents. For example, development projects are often marketed as job creators for locals, but in reality, they sometimes fail to deliver on that promise, or even worse, result in the displacement of communities to make room for modernization.
Walking through Odaiba felt like stepping into an entirely different world, it didn’t feel like Tokyo at all. But what stood out immediately was how apparent the “play” element was. This reclaimed land has been reimagined as a sleek, high-tech entertainment hub. I honestly couldn’t point out many residential or work spaces during our visit. Instead, cultural icons like the Gundam statue and the Statue of Liberty replica, along with the array of restaurants and shopping centers, made the imbalance very clear. One term from the reading that really stuck with me was “non-place”, a site that lacks authentic identity. I can see how Odaiba contributes to Tokyo’s economic success, especially in terms of tourism, but it also runs the risk of becoming disconnected from the cultural heart of Japan in favor of surface-level appeal.

Have you ever thought about getting your lip pierced?
Yes, that's why I have snakebites. Been having them on and off since I was 16, and I'm 35 now.
Does a kiss make you feel better?
Meh. Maybe a forehead kiss or any kind of little peck or whatever.
Have you ever passed out on the bathroom floor?
Thankfully not. Our bathroom is tiny.
Do you start the water before you get in the shower or when you get in?
Before. We have a water boiler and it takes a while before it warms the water up.
What did you do today?
I just came back from my physiotherapist. Earlier on today I cooked a soup.
Have you ever brushed your teeth while in the shower?
No. I can't do it without a mirror.
Have you had more than 3 boyfriends/girlfriends at the same time?
Lol no. I never had more than one boyfriend at the same time.
Have you ever thought about your death?
Yes. I know I don't want to die, though. Ever.
Would you rather be in a permanent relationship or play the field?
I'm married, so take your guess.
What is your favourite sport?
Basketball for life.
What colour is your shower curtain?
White. It's only a replacement for broken glass door, though. One side of the door is still there.
Have you ever had stitches?
Yeah, in 3 places on my head. I also had my skull split open if it's important to know lol. I had stitches on my left knee from minor surgery, too.
How long ago did you hug someone?
Today, so not that long ago.
Did you believe that boys/girls had cooties?
I've never heard of it before I started reading these Americanised surveys lol. I feel like I learned a lot XD
Do you know how to use chop sticks?
I do, but now my hand cannot do it since it's half-paralysed.
Lyrics stuck in your head?
None, really.

Why Local SEO is the Secret Weapon for HVAC Contractors in 2025
Tumblr media
Let’s be real—running an HVAC business in 2025 is not just about fixing AC units or installing heating systems. You could be the best contractor in town, but if your phone’s not ringing, that expertise isn’t getting you anywhere. And that’s where local SEO steps in like a well-tuned wrench in your toolbox.
You’ve probably heard of SEO before—maybe even dipped your toes into it. But local SEO? That’s the game-changer. Especially for HVAC contractors who rely on local homeowners needing fast, reliable help when their system stops working in the middle of a heatwave.
This isn’t just about stuffing keywords into your site and calling it a day. It’s about being found exactly when and where people are searching for your services. Let's talk about how this works—and why you should care.
Why "Local" Changes the Game
When someone in your city types “AC repair near me” into Google, they’re not looking for a big-box company two states over. They want someone close, reliable, and available. That’s where local SEO shines. It focuses on your specific geographic area, helping you appear in the search results when it matters most.
It also helps you show up on the map—you know, the one that pops up with a few listings when you search for a service? That’s the Google Map Pack. If you're not showing up there, you’re leaving a ton of money on the table.
Google Business Profile (Still the MVP)
If you haven’t claimed and fully optimized your Google Business Profile, now’s the time. It’s free. It’s powerful. And it’s where a huge chunk of local customers will find you. We're talking about adding photos, service categories, business hours, and even responding to reviews.
And those reviews? They matter—a lot. Five-star ratings build trust fast. When a customer’s sweating in a 110° Las Vegas summer, they don’t have time to browse. They’ll call the guy with good reviews, clear contact info, and fast service. Be that guy.
On-Page Optimization Isn’t Just for Geeks
Now, let’s not get overwhelmed by fancy lingo. On-page optimization is really just about making your website speak the same language your customers (and Google) are using.
That means:
Making sure your location is clear (not just in your footer)
Including service areas in your page titles and headings
Writing content that talks about real problems your customers are dealing with—like short cycling systems or uneven cooling
Here’s the kicker: you don’t have to write like a robot. It’s okay—actually, it’s preferred—to sound human. Like this article, for example. If you can talk to a customer, you can write content Google likes.
Why HVAC Contractors Are Perfect for Local SEO
Here’s the deal—HVAC is hyper-local. Nobody’s driving 100 miles to install a mini-split. That makes HVAC businesses perfectly positioned to dominate local search, as long as they play their cards right.
Let’s say someone in Henderson, Nevada searches for “air conditioning repair near me.” If your site has those keywords in a natural, conversational way and you’ve got a solid online presence, guess who shows up first? Yep—your company.
Want an example of this in action? Take a look at this article: How Energy-Efficient AC Installation Saves Homeowners Money in North Las Vegas. It’s a great breakdown of how smart homeowners are using better systems and better SEO to make smart financial choices.
Quick Wins You Can Start Today You don’t need a full rebrand to get started with local SEO. Here are a few things you can do this week:
Add your business to relevant local directories (Yelp, Angi, etc.)
Ask recent customers for a review on your Google Business Profile
Create a blog post about a common local problem, like dust buildup in AC coils
Use headings like “AC Repair in Summerlin South” naturally within your service pages
The Long Game Is Worth It
Here’s the truth—SEO isn’t magic, and it doesn’t happen overnight. But if you stick with it and focus on your local market, the results will speak for themselves.
You’ll go from the guy hoping the phone rings to the guy turning down jobs because you’re fully booked.
And that, my friend, is the kind of problem every HVAC contractor wants to have.

Are Heat Pumps Noisy? Debunking Myths And Revealing Facts
Tumblr media
Heat pumps are becoming increasingly popular as energy-efficient options for heating and cooling homes. However, a common question that arises is, “Do heat pumps make a lot of noise?” For many homeowners and apartment residents, noise levels are a significant factor when selecting an HVAC system. In this blog, we will clarify misconceptions, delve into the actual sources of heat pump noise, and offer practical advice for minimizing sound levels in your home—ensuring a comfortable and peaceful living environment.
Understanding heat pump noise
While heat pumps do produce some noise, they are not excessively loud. A well-maintained and correctly installed heat pump usually operates at sound levels between 40 to 60 decibels, which is similar to a soft conversation or light rain. The primary sources of noise are the outdoor unit, which houses the compressor and fan and tends to be the noisier component, and the indoor unit, like the air handler or mini-split head, which generally emits minimal sound, often just a soft hum from the fan.
Heat pump noise – Myths vs. Facts
Myth 1: All heat pumps are noisy
Fact: While older heat pump models tended to be noisier, modern designs focus on quieter performance. Many manufacturers incorporate sound-reducing features such as insulated compressor enclosures, variable-speed motors, and specially designed low-noise fan blades.
Myth 2: Larger units are always noisier
Fact: Noise levels are not solely determined by the size of the unit. Oversized or incorrectly sized heat pumps can short-cycle, leading to increased noise. Ensuring the right size for your space promotes both efficiency and quieter operation.
Myth 3: Noise control is impossible
Fact: You can definitely manage noise levels. Through careful installation, strategic placement, and regular maintenance, there are numerous methods to reduce or eliminate disruptive sounds.
Factors affecting heat pump noise levels
Quality of installation
A poor installation can result in vibrations, loose components, and heightened noise levels. If the outdoor unit is mounted on unstable or hollow surfaces, it can amplify sound. Therefore, proper installation is crucial.
Placement of the outdoor unit
The location of the outdoor unit significantly impacts the noise you hear. It's advisable to position it away from windows and bedrooms, steer clear of enclosed corners that can cause sound to echo, and utilize anti-vibration pads and rubber mounts to minimize sound transmission through structures.
Climate and operating conditions
In colder weather, heat pumps may enter defrost mode, which can produce additional noise due to fan reversals or melting ice. This sound is temporary and does not indicate a problem with the unit.
How to reduce heat pump noise in residential settings?
If you're thinking about getting a new heat pump or are struggling with a noisy one, here are effective strategies to help reduce unwanted noise:
Opt for a quiet model
Look for heat pumps with low decibel ratings, noise-reducing insulation, variable-speed compressors, and ENERGY STAR® certifications by checking the product specifications.
Careful placement of the outdoor unit
Position the outdoor unit at least 1–2 feet away from walls, set it on a stable, level surface like a concrete pad, and consider installing fences or sound barriers that allow for proper ventilation. Avoid placing the unit under windows or close to bedrooms.
Insulate the surrounding area
Consider adding acoustic panels to nearby walls or building a small fence lined with sound-absorbing materials around the unit, while ensuring adequate ventilation.
Incorporate sound dampening materials
Using rubber or composite pads can help minimize vibrations, while sound blankets for compressors can reduce humming. Additionally, landscaping features like hedges can absorb and block noise.
Schedule regular maintenance
Regular maintenance is key to preventing and addressing noise issues. This includes cleaning fan blades and filters, tightening loose parts, checking refrigerant levels, and inspecting the motor and bearings frequently.
Consult a professional installer
Always hire certified HVAC professionals who are knowledgeable about quiet heat pump installations, particularly in multi-family homes or areas sensitive to noise.

Let's Play Some $#!7!: Cursebane – Part 2 | Let’s finish the demo!
Come join me for another installment of Let's Play Some $#!7 | LPS$, where I play games to provide commentary on the game's development! Provided I don't get too caught up in the game to comment, which, in a sense, is commentary in and of itself.
Today, we finished playing Cursebane's demo! It was, initially, played in Let's Play Some Demos! - Part 7, but I had to cut it short so the video didn't get to 4 hours long. That, and the last game played that day scared the $#!7 out of me...
Now, I didn't call this stream Let's Play Some Demos! | LPSD because I want this game. After I get it, it'll be a regular feature on the show.
If you came here from Twitch, thank you! I don't know why the stream suddenly cut, but I ALWAYS record my streams in case things like that happen!
With all that out of the way, here are my opinions: If competing with Hades is a goal, the developers are headed in the right direction. Provided enough people learn this game exists. With how heavily saturated Steam is, I'm amazed I found it. If they're not trying to compete, it's the inspiration for the game, but their version is excellent on its own. I mentioned, after I played the demo the first time, Cursebane is a 2D, pixelated Hades and, while true, it doesn't do the game justice. I also mentioned the story was forgettable, and it still is, but not in a bad way. ADHD moment(s). Though, after playing through it for another few hours I'm more invested in figuring it out. If I'm piecing things together correctly now, because of a curse, or a bunch of curses, rifts have split the world into pieces. These pieces are stuck in time loops until you break their curse. For this one area the demo provides, you have to save a village from its curse. Because of the time loop, you can choose how you want to save said village. And as you go around exploring/trying to find your way to the village, each death results in you taking a different path, however, if you die enough times, things will start to look familiar as you revisit areas. As you make decisions, you change what bosses you fight, which allows you to figure out how to make the game easier. I'm guessing it being the demo was why I was able to max out my upgrades, but each upgrade was great for balancing. I was eventually able to make it so I was able to die twice before I had to restart the area. And I maxed out my HP. The demo threw me for a loop when I restored the area and it wasn't "Demo Over"; I was able to try again. Was there something else I was supposed to do or were the developers simply letting me play around more with ability combos? Which I haven't mentioned yet; you can enhance your katana, dash-strike, charge attack (which I barely used), and knockback spell with either Ice, Fire, or Lightning, and BOY are they fun! Ice freezes and slows people down, Fire deals extra damage and/or burns, and lightning strikes repeatedly. My FAVORITE combination was the Lightning spell, so melee enemies were constantly being struck, Ice on my attacks and dash-strike so foes slow down and make them easier to hit, and, even though I barely used the charge attack, I preferred it to have Fire. I could have played around with them more, and I was tempted, but the video was getting close to 4 hours... And that's it for this mini-review! Thank you for reading! If this series of videos is something you're interested in, you can watch it on YouTube, Steam, Rumble, Odysee, and The Titans' Discord! Don’t forget to hit the Subscribe and/or Follow buttons to know when there’s more!

Benefits of Ductless Mini-Split Systems
Tumblr media
When it comes to cooling and heating your home, there are various systems to consider. One of the most versatile and efficient options is the ductless mini-split system. These systems are increasingly popular due to their flexibility, energy efficiency, and ease of installation. In this blog, we will explore the benefits of ductless mini-split systems and why they might be the perfect solution for your home.
What is a Ductless Mini-Split System?
A ductless mini-split system consists of an outdoor compressor unit and one or more indoor air-handling units, often referred to as "heads." These components are connected by a conduit, which houses the power cable, refrigerant tubing, suction tubing, and a condensate drain. The indoor units are mounted on the wall and deliver the conditioned air directly into the living space without the need for ductwork.
Energy Efficiency
One of the primary benefits of ductless mini-split systems is their energy efficiency. Traditional ducted systems can lose up to 30% of energy through the ducts due to leaks, holes, and poorly connected ducts. In contrast, ductless systems deliver air directly into the room, eliminating duct losses. Additionally, many mini-split systems come with inverter technology, which adjusts the compressor speed to match the cooling or heating demand, further enhancing efficiency.
Zoned Heating and Cooling
Ductless mini-split systems provide the advantage of zoned heating and cooling. Each indoor unit operates independently, allowing you to set different temperatures for different rooms or zones. This feature is particularly beneficial for homes with varying cooling or heating needs in different areas, providing personalized comfort and reducing energy usage by conditioning only the occupied spaces.
Easy Installation
Installing a ductless mini-split system is less invasive compared to traditional HVAC systems. Since there is no need for ductwork, the installation process is quicker and less disruptive. The indoor units require only a small hole in the wall for the conduit, preserving the aesthetics of your home. This makes ductless systems an excellent option for retrofitting older homes, room additions, or areas where installing ductwork is impractical.
Improved Indoor Air Quality
Ductless mini-split systems can improve indoor air quality. Traditional ducted systems can accumulate dust, allergens, and other pollutants in the ducts, which are then circulated throughout your home. In contrast, ductless systems have multi-stage filtration that can significantly reduce dust, bacteria, pollen, and other particulates in the air. Regular maintenance, such as cleaning the filters, ensures optimal performance and air quality.
Quiet Operation
Ductless mini-split systems are known for their quiet operation. The noisy components, such as the compressor and condenser, are located outside the house, while the indoor units operate at a lower noise level compared to traditional systems. This makes ductless systems ideal for bedrooms, home offices, and other areas where noise can be a disturbance.
Flexible Design Options
The compact and sleek design of indoor units allows for flexible placement options. They can be mounted on walls, suspended from ceilings, or even floor-standing. This flexibility ensures that you can maintain the aesthetic appeal of your rooms without compromising on comfort. Additionally, ductless systems can be tailored to fit the specific layout and needs of your home, providing a customized heating and cooling solution.

Environmental Impact of AC Replacement: Eco-Friendly Alternatives
Air conditioning plays a crucial role in maintaining the health and well-being of residents during extreme heat conditions. However, the use of outdated air conditioning equipment can pose a significant burden on natural resources and contribute to environmental degradation. As such, homeowners must explore more sustainable cooling alternatives that not only ensure indoor climate comfort but also align with environmental responsibility goals. When considering the AC replacement of aged central air conditioning units, evaluating cutting-edge options that prioritize energy efficiency and eco-friendliness becomes essential. By investing in modern, green technologies for cooling purposes, individuals can strike a balance between personal comfort and reducing their carbon footprint, thereby contributing to a more sustainable future.
Tumblr media
The Damage from AC Units Lacking Efficiency
Most concerning pollution consequences stem from electricity production feeding growing power demands. Fossil fuel plants still comprise over 60% of national energy generation causing resource extraction damages plus carbon dioxide emissions intensifying climate change as demands climb.
Inefficient obsolete air conditioning units with lower SEER ratings no longer legally allowed to be manufactured waste substantially more electricity accomplishing the same amount of cooling through poor designs. Avoiding these dated systems reduces environmental impacts as every kilowatt hour not consumed prevents additional fossil fuels from being sourced and combusted.
What Makes Modern ACs More Eco-Friendly
Recent equipment adopting inverter-driven variable speed compressors optimized using precise sensor feedback instead of blind high/low cycling better matches electrical usage to real-time conditions. This responsiveness also tightens interior temperature stability for improved comfort despite using less power overall across runtimes.
Upgraded lead-free refrigerant chemistry innovations like R-410A replacing ozone-damaging predecessors plus enhanced insulation in ductwork and chilling components like the evaporator also curb electricity appetites meeting aggressive Department of Energy minimum efficiency standards phased in over recent years.
Every small design improvement compounds raising the bar higher on energy responsibility from air conditioners. But radical new technologies promise even greater possibilities rethinking cooling completely.
Top Eco-Friendly AC Replacement Options
Geothermal Heat Pump Systems Using buried underground piping that leverages 50-60 degree year-round subterranean temperatures for both heating and cooling homes, geothermal systems offer a highly energy efficient alternative to ducted central AC setups requiring up to 70% less electricity since minimal temperature differentials exist tapping into the massive thermal stability fields underneath foundations. Optimal for new construction builds, expensive excavations make retrofits in mature homes unlikely however.
Hybrid Ductless Mini-Split Systems While single condenser and evaporator pairs adequately cover individual rooms, combining centralized compressors with distributed mini-split heads enables right-sized zoning flexibility within homes to reduce overcooling and associated electricity waste. Series of discrete wall or ceiling evaporators allow custom placement tailored to exposure conditions in varying zones enabling independent remote digital temperature adjustments by room. Hybrid mini-split systems balance flexibility with consolidated components for responsibility.
Solar-Powered Air Conditioners Harnessing the sun’s rays already heating the planet may prove ironic yet brilliant through photovoltaic panels converting sunlight into direct current able to run DC-inverter driven air conditioners with stored power. Solar array outputs depend on installation square footage and climate sun conditions but offer renewable clean energy offsets reducing overall electrical loads from utility sources. Battery banks enable powering AC systems even overnight or through cloudy spells. While upfront solar expenses run high, tax incentives help mitigate costs that accelerate payback over 5-7 years after which dramatic utility savings continue building.
Whole House Attic Fans Though unable to fully replace refrigerated air conditioning effects, correctly sized gable or domed whole house fans mounted centrally within well-insulated and air-sealed attic zones can pull interior warm air vertically for venting through ridge vents when ambient evening temperatures cool sufficiently to drive passive circulation. Well-designed installations avoid pulling attic insulation fiberglass into living quarters and if combined with adequate shade tree placement or radiant barriers, attic fan circulation cools passively reducing primary AC system runtimes substantially during more temperate periods minimizing carbon emissions. However effectiveness relies on ideal weather conditions at night.
Smart Thermostats + Zoning Internet-connected programmable thermostats like Google Nest self-learn household schedules plus remotely control setpoint temperatures so cooling minimally runs only when needed instead of guessing at fixed times wasting electricity during vacancies. Adding zoned control directs conditioning only where occupants reside at any given moment further optimizing runtime. Smart devices better match system capabilities precisely with lifestyle demands preventing overcooling vast areas habitually.
While more affordable direct replacements simply upgrade mandated efficiency levels incrementally, evaluating greener alternatives like mini-splits or attic fans helps balance environmental impacts without sacrificing all modern creature comforts electricity brings. Reflect on how cooling decisions affect the planet.

Benefits of Split System Air Conditioning
With a split system, your air conditioner will consist of an indoor unit and an outdoor unit. A refrigerant line and tubing will connect the two.
The indoor unit contains an evaporator coil to pull heat from your air, which is then blown into your room.
Like ductwork, a ductless mini-split needs regular maintenance to work at its best. Cleaning the air filters and having it serviced are essential to reduce energy consumption and improve performance.
Cost
The price of a split system air conditioning will vary depending on the model, make and installation. As a rule, a quality set-up will cost more up front but will operate more efficiently and save you money in the long run.
A split system air conditioner consists of an indoor head unit which houses the evaporator coil and an outdoor condenser. The units are connected by copper tubes called refrigerant lines.
The outdoor unit is housed in a small, discreet cabinet and the indoor air-handling unit is mounted on the wall or ceiling in one or more rooms where you want individualized temperature control. It’s important to get a professional engineer to install your split system air conditioning as the process involves working with refrigerant, which needs to be properly handled and disposed of. A licensed professional will also ensure the indoor and outdoor units are properly connected. Getting this step wrong can lead to leaks and damage.
Energy Efficiency
Compared to packaged units, split systems are much more energy efficient. This is because they require fewer components and take up less space.
Both the air handler and condenser are installed inside the home, linked together by refrigerant lines that allow heat to pass between them. This mechanical process not only cools, but it also dehumidifies.
However, because the ductwork in some homes is leaky, this doesn’t always work as well as it could. This can make your AC system use more power than it would if it didn’t lose so much energy to wasted ducts.
While ductless mini-splits are very energy efficient, it’s important to have professional load calculations performed before installing one. This helps ensure that the unit is properly sized to provide adequate heating or cooling to your home. If it’s too small, it will cycle on and off frequently, using more electricity in the process. Zoning capabilities are also available, allowing you to control the temperature of individual indoor units independently.
Noise
Since the compressor and condenser are housed outdoors compared to window units with all components inside, split system air conditioning is much quieter. This makes ductless mini-splits a good choice for homes with existing ductwork that are looking to upgrade their air conditioning systems.
Unlike some other AC types that can produce humming, banging and buzzing noises, ductless mini-splits don’t make these sounds unless there’s something wrong. If you hear rattling, it’s usually because there’s dirt or debris stuck inside the compressor unit. Clearing away the debris will often eliminate this noise. However, if this sound continues to happen, it’s important to contact a licensed professional.
Other acoustic issues can include swooshing, crackling and gurgling. These signs indicate that there may be a problem with the compressor which can cause refrigerant leaks. These can be very dangerous and must be repaired promptly. Contact an HVAC expert like Kotz Heating, Cooling & Plumbing to diagnose the issue and fix it before it gets worse.
Convenience
In addition to cooling a home, split system Split System Air Conditioning in Denham Court also dehumidify. This is a mechanical process that uses a fan to draw moisture out of the air, helping you to feel more comfortable in warmer environments.
Unlike traditional ducted systems, a ductless mini-split AC unit is much quieter. This is because the noisy components are housed in the outdoor unit, while the indoor air handling units sit inside the home, usually in the garage, attic or finished basement.
Modern ductless mini-splits can even be fitted with heating capabilities to help you cope with mild winters. Zoning capability can also be an option, allowing you to control the temperature of individual indoor units for maximum comfort and efficiency. This can be especially useful in rooms that are rarely used, or have different cooling needs. The system is also easier to maintain than a packaged air conditioning system because the outdoor unit is not colocated with the interior air handler.
