ok but like have y’all read that hacker group’s “explanation” on why they launched a ddos attack on internet archive. bc they said with their whole chest that it’s because:

a) theyre pro-palestine and wanted to flex their big beefy hacker muscles on a website that provides international open access to information as a test before hacking quote, “a list of targets, including israeli entities”

b) the internet archive is secretly in cahoots with the us government and is spying on everybody! eek! scary!! (source cited: brewster khale was on a library of congress digitization initiatives committee. one that is no longer active)

c) these hackers just really REALLY love copyright law okay and they feel oh so bad for the massive corporations sueing the internet archive. “grrr we are activist hackers and we hate piracy grrr”

Have I mentioned how much i love ao3? So I'm currently watching a show and I like to look up fanfics but obviously I don't want to get spoiled so I just go to filters scroll down to 'date updated', look up the date the episode aired on, go 6 days ahead to the day before the next episode, and it filters out all the fics about episodes I haven't watched yet! It's great.

Borrowed a novelisation of Castrovalva from my university’s Doctor Who society and brought it home with me, and the thing is it has an absolutely dogshit cover, just cringe as fuck, and I accidentally left it on my fucking bed and my dad walked in and picked it up and looked at it and made a noise somewhere between confusion and amusement and then left. And I just started questioning my entire life and what I was even doing wasting it on this silly stupid sci-fi show and how my choices had led me here.

British historians — including friends of mine such as Paul Johnson, Sir John Keegan and Sir Alistair Horne — have had immense influence on the bleak way Napoleon is viewed. Claude Ribbe’s book Le Crime de Napoleon portrayed him as a genocidal dictator on a par with Hitler, and the US historian Paul Schroeder wrote: “Hitler did it for the sake of an unbelievably horrible ideal; Napoleon for no underlying purpose at all.”

Unfortunately, Scott’s movie perpetuates this absurd myth. No mention is made of any achievement beyond the military ones. He rightly shows Napoleon as being popular with the French people but the evidence given in the movie makes this incomprehensible.

Without the context of the Napoleonic Code — the reorganisation of French laws — the financial reforms, the restoration of law and order, the concordat with the Catholic Church, the infrastructure projects, the new education system, meritocratic social advancement, the creation of the Banque de France and Légion d’Honneur and Council of State, for example, the film’s emperor is reduced to a man who merely throws food at his wife, has sex with her under the table with servants present, and almost never takes off his hat while indoors.
