Ooh an Aubrey ask!! I (Mod Acacia) adore Aubrey (she's probably my favorite character in the game besides Hero) so this is so exciting! I'll try my best to answer in her POV in keeping with the ask game (and I chose some game sprites to include just for fun too!)

7. Who do you look up to?

I would have said Mari but um...I guess I'm older than she was now...

I think I'm always going to look up to her though. She was so kind and had this way of taking care of everyone. She could make you feel safe, like everything was going to be okay no matter how bad things were, and she was always looking for everyone and protecting them. No matter what you knew she would always be right by your side.

When I was little, I thought she was just the most amazing person. I wanted to be just like her when I grew up. I still do. Even if I'll always be older than her now

17. What makes you laugh?

Thanks for thinking I actually have a sense of humor. Some of my friends don't think so 🙄 but that's only because I don't like stupid jokes or potty humor (which is all bozos like Mikhael and Angel are capable of).

But I do laugh at snarky things, especially in movies, on TV, or with my friends. Kim is really sarcastic and makes me laugh a lot, and Sunny occasionally has some funny one-liners (even though I think he's just being honest and not trying to be funny).

Don't tell Hero but sometimes his "dad jokes" are actually kind of hilarious too (even if most of them make me want to roll my eyes).

And...fine. I'll never live it down for admitting it but...

Sometimes Kel, Mikhael, and Angel are so ridiculous that they're funny...but only sometimes. Most of the time, they quickly go from goofball to just obnoxious (especially Mikhael).

What is your favorite childhood memory?

Casey: Summers at her grandparent's farm in Pennsylvania, riding bikes with her friends in Philadelphia, holidays with her Mom & Dad.

Tobias: Vacations with his Mother & Father (and later his brother) at their family's beach house; spending time at his grandparents (Vivian's) house, especially in the summer when he'd play ball with cousins and neighbors until the lights came on.

Kaycee: (Same as Casey's)

Ethan: Summer vacations with his family, usually to Newport, RI, sometimes to Mystic, CT.

Carolina: Baseball games with her Dad; large, loud family dinners.

Trystan: Sneaking away into the secret chambers with select siblings and friends where he got to just be a boy and not the heir apparent.

Zoe: Poor Zoe has very few memories from before the outbreak and life at the Tower was pretty bleak. Still, she managed to have a few good memories - all with Anna (her sister) and/or Troy. Anna holding her in her bunk and telling her stories about their fathers, the three of them making up games only they understood, and troy sneaking extra food that he "acquired" and bringing it to her room.

Eli: Pre-outbreak, playing ball, visiting cousins & friends, reading with his mom. Post-outbreak? The get-togethers they used to have with the few other families that lived in the forest, the quiet nights with his family - when his dad played the guitar, he would dance with his mom, and David would play nearby.

What is your least favorite childhood memory?

Casey: Her mother becoming ill and nearly dying, feeling isolated and alone on top of her fear/grief.

Tobias: Visits with some of his father's family who always treated him like he didn't belong; sometimes, loneliness.

Kaycee: (See Casey)

Ethan: In a word? Louise.

Carolina: Her father's murder (I really think I need to create some lore about her Mom, I don't want to leave it up to Pixelberry.)

Trystan: So many. Feeling so alone while being surrounded by so many. Believing no one cared about him, only his title. Backstabbing and sabotage by numerous family members.

Zoe and Eli: It's all about the outbreak and the horrors that followed.

What do you think had the biggest impact on you growing up?

Casey: Her mom's illness. She was from a lower-income family, and her mother's illness threw the family into a tailspin. Her beloved mom was suddenly gone or too ill to be around her; she was terrified of losing her, and her father had to work three jobs just to keep afloat because medical bills were so high. This is when Casey decided she wanted to be a doctor. It is also why she's passionate about social issues, financial inequity, and healthcare reform. This is also when her lifelong anxiety disorder began.

Tobias: Growing up in two worlds - one white, one black - one ridiculously rich, the other lower-middle income. He never felt like he belonged in his father's family, but he did with his mother's... for a while. When they were teens, many of his maternal cousins were resentful of Tobias's privilege, and they began excluding him. This was very hard on him, and led him on a quest to find himself. That quest led to issues with his father and led to them becoming estranged. That influenced Tobias's life more than anything.

Kaycee: (See Kaycee)

Ethan: His mother's abandonment completely changed his personality, outlook on life, interactions with other people, and self-perception. In some ways, it motivated him to become the successful physician he is, but at a very great personal cost. It was decades before he fully addressed it.

Carolina: Her father's death (and whatever happened to her Mom which I have to create! lol)

Trystan: The expectation that he would be king was there before he was even born. Juliana's death too, but he was already an adult.

The outbreak.

What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever had to do?

Hmmm. This one is tough. I'm answering as if they are in canon timeline.

Casey:

Tobias: Having to bury his father, knowing they hadn't fully reconciled.

Kaycee:

Ethan: Probably the moronic decision to run off to the Amazon, then not taking Kaycee's call while he was gone. Also, Dolores's death. I'm not saying Louise again because... enough of Louise. lol

Carolina: Moving on after her father's death. For a while, she just didn't want to get out of bed.

Trystan: Coping with his grief over losing Juliana, having the guilt that he should have been there to save her, and allowing people to believe he was responsible for her death.

Zoe: (SPOILERS) Leave her sister behind in the cabin the night they escaped The Tower.

Eli: (SPOILERS) Having to "number 3" (kill) his family after they were attacked by zombies. Not only did he lose the only 3 people he loved, but now he was alone in the world.

You’re given an unlimited budget to build anything you want!  What do you build, and where do you build it?

Casey: A huge, state-of-the-art clinic/hospital to serve the uninsured.

Tobias: A huge beach house that all of his children and future grandchildren could come to during the summer and holidays (he does this later, btw.)

Kaycee: (See Casey)

Ethan: A modest home on a secluded beach, but it would have all the bells and whistles.

Carolina: A large home for displaced LGBTQIA youth.

Trystan: Same as Carolina.

The canon character answers are below, and in keeping with the interview part of the game, we tried our best to answer in the respective character's POV (and included some game sprites just for added fun!).

HERO Answers:

3. What is your favorite childhood memory?

I have so many wonderful childhood memories that it's hard to choose just one, especially if I had to choose between memories of my family or my friends. They're both very important to me.

In terms of childhood memories of my family, I loved learning how to cook from my grandma, Mamá Alma, and cooking big family dinners with her. My parents taught me a lot too. Kel and I used to build bird feeders with our dad, and our mom tried to teach us how to knit once but Kel ended up tangled in all the yarn (which he insisted was way more fun than knitting anyway).

Kel and I had a lot of fun together when we were young! We'd stay up late building blanket forts or telling stories, and we loved playing adventure games especially pretending we were pirates looking for buried treasure in our backyard. Sometimes our friends would play too.

I have a lot of fond memories of them as well. I loved spending time at the park or visiting the beach, watching cartoons on Saturday mornings, playing cards or board games, and especially having picnics together. I think some of my fondest memories are of when we would all cook or bake things together to pack in our picnic baskets. Mari and I always tried to make everyone's favorite foods, so we'd spend a lot of time preparing, and honestly, I think I sometimes enjoyed that more than the actual picnics themselves.

Looking back on it all now, it's hard to choose just one favorite moment. It's all those little things that are most meaningful to me: helping Basil plant seeds in his flower garden or building blanket forts with Kel or how we'd all stay up all night playing video games, reading comics, or watching funny movies. The way Aubrey laughed when her face was covered with watermelon seeds or the way Sunny was always way more excited about the box and wrapping paper than any present you ever got him. How Mari's face would always light up when she pulled her cookies out of the oven or how she smiled whenever she played piano for us and we'd all stand around singing along.

So I think it’s not just one favorite moment. It's so many, and they're all precious to me.

16. Describe your perfect day.

I don't think I need anything too big or exciting for the perfect day. If I got to do anything I wanted, I guess I'd cook a big meal for all my friends and family and invite them over for dinner. Everyone's so busy these days, it would be great to have a quiet evening where we could all get together and catch up, eat good food, and spend time together.

KEL Answers:

18. What's the best way to cheer you up?

With my favorite stuff probably! If someone brought me an Orange Joe, I'm sure I'd be happy again!

(Hero: Kel...I think they're hoping for something a little more specific...)

Oh, uh...okay! Mmmmm... When I'm having a bad day, I like to distract myself and try to take my mind off it by doing something else I like. I'll play basketball or ride my bike, listen to my boombox, or play video games, or yeah, have an Orange Joe!

Watching funny movies or tv shows are always good too because when you're laughing you can't feel as sad anymore!

SUNNY Answers:

13. You're given an unlimited budget to build anything you want!  What do you build and where do you build it?

A perfect, comfortable bed as big as my room. Then my room would be a bed.

It would be at a 12/10. Maybe more if it had a high-density viscoelastic polyurethane mattress, but I don't know if they can make one as big as a room.

Eddie does believe Dustin when he says that he knows Steve. He’s sure the kid ran into him at Wheeler’s house when Steve was dating his sister.

He doesn’t believe that they’re friends. He believes even less that Steve ‘The Hair’ Harrington thinks of Dustin like ‘a brother.’

But then one day, he’s roaming the racks at the music shop looking for any new heavy metal albums. Dustin’s not even there. Eddie is talking to Jeff when he mentions that Henderson said something about a new pet.

“A pet?” Steve asks, appearing out of nowhere like he’d been summoned. “Dustin Henderson said he got a new pet? Dustin? Loud kid with curly hair? That Dustin?”

“Um…?”

“Does he still have his old pet?” Steve asks. “Tews is still alive?”

“You know the name of his cat?”

“Jesus,” Steve���s not even talking to him anymore. He calls over to a girl clearly being interviewed by the manager, “Hey, Robin! I got to go. Dustin’s tryin’ to start the apocalypse again. Can you do my interview for me?”

“Yeah,” She calls back. “No problem!”

Steve turns back to Eddie with his big eyes and intense eye contact, covers his hand with one of his for the briefest of seconds and says, “Thank you.”

Then he’s gone, and Eddie’s heart is pounding, and he’s just… “All that because Dustin got another cat?”
