Ecrire, dire, survivre, exorcisme intime dans un miroir thĂ©rapeutique . Ainsi est Burning Ashes, un espace libĂ©ratoire de drames intimes illusoires. â â

le rpg et le contexte
Soyons honnĂȘtes, ce qui nous inspire le plus, pour le plus grand nombre d'entre nous, ce sont les drama. L'Ă©criture est surtout inspirante quand elle est fantasmĂ©e, quand elle Ă©labore autour de relations complexes, voire de thĂ©matiques parfois difficiles et cathartiques. C'est pourquoi, Burning Ashes est un forum rpg sombre. Il incite Ă explorer les complexitĂ©s de l'Ăąme humaine (la raison pour laquelle les tw et la balise hide seront importants).
la communauté
Le fait d'Ă©laborer autour d'Ă©motions sombres ne veut absolument pas dire qu'il faut que la communautĂ© soit dĂ©primante et compliquĂ©e. La distinction entre le moi de l'Ă©criture et le moi de la vraie vie doit primer. Le concept de Burning Ashes est de mettre en avant hors rp les choses simples - lorsqu'on Ă©labore autour de thĂ©matiques difficiles, on a aussi besoin de revenir aux bases. C'est pourquoi, BA est surtout un endroit d'amusement sans complexe, sans prise de tĂȘte, dans le respect d'autrui.

Exemple dâun lieu scĂ©narisĂ©
STATEN ISLAND, 2013 Câest un soir de pleine lune dont tous les habitants qui vivaient dĂ©jĂ ici se souviennent sans le moindre doute. Certains dĂ©crivent un hurlement dans la nuit, une voiture qui dĂ©marre en trombe, dâautres prĂ©tendent quâun silence de mort rĂ©gnait. Dans le petit salon de coiffure de Henry Barker, les lumiĂšres restent allumĂ©es toute la nuit â ce nâest pas habituel. Lorsque le soleil se lĂšve, alors que Mrs Dewitt sâapprĂȘte Ă aller faire faire sa permanente par Lucy Barker, câest elle qui cette fois pousse un hurlement â Mrs Danver accourt et attrape la pauvre femme avant quâelle ne fasse un malaise. Devant leurs yeux, au milieu de leur banlieue tranquille, sans histoire, comme ça, au milieu du salon encore maculĂ© des cheveux coupĂ©s la veille, le corps de Lucy git sans expression. Mrs Dewitt pense immĂ©diatement Ă la permanente quâelle nâaura pas, Ă son mari qui va lui faire remarquer que ses cheveux sont tout plats, Ă lâanniversaire de son fils ce week-end qui va ĂȘtre gĂąchĂ© â on a pas idĂ©e de mourir un jeudi. Madame Danver, elle, pense aux ragots â ses copines seront folles quand elles vont apprendre ce quâelle a vu ! Elle Ă©tait presque lĂ la premiĂšre ! Elle pourra raconter aux autres que câest elle qui a appelĂ© la police. Peut-ĂȘtre mĂȘme quâelle pourra feindre dâavoir de la peine⊠STATEN ISLAND, 2018 Le salon de coiffure nâest plus depuis longtemps. Henry Barker a bien tentĂ© de le rouvrir â aprĂšs avoir passĂ© quelques semaines en prison Ă hurler son innocence dans lâaffaire du meurtre de sa femme â mais il est vrai que lâhistoire a fait mauvaise presse â on se demande pourquoi. La devanture annonce lâouverture prochaine dâune supĂ©rette, mais Mrs Dewitt sait bien quâaucun commerce ne tiendra ici. Le boucher qui avait tentĂ© lâexpĂ©rience a vite renoncĂ© â lâironie Ă©tait sublime, cela dit. Personne ne tiendra parce que tout le monde se souvient de la morte. En plus, maintenant quâon sait que câest le Dr David Hyde â oh, un homme pourtant si charmant ! de bonne famille, Ă©lĂ©gant, intelligent, raffinĂ©, le genre dâhomme auquel on aurait rĂȘvĂ© de marier sa fille, pas que ce soit le cas de Mrs Dewitt, Ă©videmment, mais quand mĂȘme⊠Maintenant quâon sait que le Dr Hyde est le meurtrier⊠Il faut dire, ce crĂ©tin, quâil a tentĂ© dâen tuer une autre. Sa bonne amie Mrs Danver lui a apportĂ© le journal hier, et il y avait portrait de Hyde Ă la page 8. Il a dit quâil ne se souvenait pas du meurtre. Il a jurĂ© quâil nâĂ©tait pas lui-mĂȘme⊠Enfin. Le pire, câest que tout ça va se tasser, maintenant, et Mrs Dewitt doit bien lâadmettre, voilĂ longtemps quâelle ne sâĂ©tait pas autant amusĂ©e que ces cinq derniĂšres annĂ©es. STATEN ISLAND, 2023 Mrs Danver se sent bien seule. Pourtant, elle vient de voir quelque chose quâelle aurait adorĂ© partager avec Mrs Dewitt. Lorsquâelles ont dĂ©couvert le corps de Lucy, il y a 10 ans, ces deux-lĂ se sont liĂ©es dâune amitiĂ© indĂ©fectible â le traumatisme, le choc, la peur⊠lâamour des ragots, voilĂ qui les a soudĂ©es comme si elles Ă©taient sĆurs. Mais Mrs Dewitt a dĂ©mĂ©nagĂ©, et depuis quâelle vit sa vie au Canada â Mrs Danver ose Ă peine penser Ă cette trahison â elle a complĂštement oubliĂ© sa comparse. Pourtant, un peu plus tĂŽt ce matin, Mrs Danver a croisĂ© un journaliste. Ou un rĂ©alisateur. Elle ne sait plus trop. Il Ă©tait tout Ă fait charmant, et il est venu la trouver pour lui dire quâil Ă©tait lĂ pour rĂ©aliser un documentaire â fiction. Pour lâapplication oĂč lâon trouve des sĂ©ries, là ⊠netfon, netfil⊠quelque chose comme ça. A Staten Island ! CâĂ©tait tellement excitant quâelle a failli tomber de la chaise oĂč elle Ă©tait assise, en train de siroter un irish coffee aprĂšs son cours de yoga de 10h. Ăvidemment, elle a dĂ©jĂ largement entretenu les vellĂ©itĂ©s du journaliste, elle nâest pas nĂ©e de la derniĂšre pluie. Mais elle a mĂ©nagĂ© le suspens, car elle a besoin quâil revienne la voir. AprĂšs tout, câest elle qui a dĂ©couvert le corps ! Enfin⊠Elle lâa orientĂ© vers le lycĂ©e. Câest lĂ , cher monsieur, lui-a-t-elle dit, que vous trouverez des histoires Ă raconter. Ce lycĂ©e qui a accueilli mes enfants Ă©taient autrefois si tranquille, mais vous imaginez aujourdâhui, les enfants Hyde (Anthony et Emma) et les enfants Barker (Joanna et Jonathan) le frĂ©quentent tous les quatre. On raconte quâils Ă©taient proches quand ils Ă©taient petits, surtout Joanna et Anthony â câest comme ça que David a rencontrĂ© Lucy, dâailleurs. Mais imaginez-vous, cher Monsieur, comment sâentendent des enfants quand leurs parents sâentretuent ? On raconte quâAnthony est Ă la dĂ©rive. Oui, cher Monsieur, si vous voulez comprendre toute lâhistoire, vous feriez bien de commencer par lĂ . Elle a Ă©tĂ© bien bonne de lui donner dĂ©jĂ toutes ces informations. Elle nâa pas vraiment retenu son choc quand son mari lui a annoncĂ© quâune sociĂ©tĂ© de production venait rĂ©aliser un documentaire ici, dans leur quartier si tranquille â mais Mrs Danver y voit lĂ lâoccasion de faire le mĂ©nage. Table rase du passĂ©. Les enfants Hyde devraient aller grandir ailleurs â malheureusement, la mauvaise herbe, il est difficile de sâen dĂ©barrasser. Et les pelouses de son quartier sont si bellesâŠ

drow rpg thoughts
Yesterday I got excited and did a design outline for another game, this time about drow. Don't worry, the Eureka Patreon updates will keep coming monthly and we are even close to another free public beta release, but i have been under a lot of stress and might need to work on something else for a few weeks after that, even if only because i think it could actually be something i could make fully playable within a short time.
It is based on a particular setting written a while back by me and a close friend, the purpose of which was to reimagine drow with reasonable post-hoc explanations for the way they are portrayed in Forgotten Realms. It would be a very specific game, sharing a few design ideas with Eureka's rules, but not as broad and generalized.
This rpg will certainly come with a bunch of lore, but for right now the only thing you need to know is that in this setting, "Drow" is a title and referrs only to the female warrior-caste of dark elf society.
Many of the mechanics will be asymmetrical. A âpartyâ will consist of one Drow and any number of her servants, with the goal of surviving incredibly dense hierarchical social situations
>problem will come up that could embarrass the Drow, threatening her Reputation (stat)
>Drow has to delegate tasks to servants that will fix the problem
>due to stupidly dense and impossible etiquette, actually delegating these tasks is not very clear or easy. Screwing up tasks and failing etiquette will reduce a servantâs perceived Competence (stat)
>due to high pressure, impossible working conditions, and garbled instructions, these tasks are not easy and are very likely to be screwed up
>the Drow has to contend with and smooth over the screwed up tasks. She can lose Reputation if she doesnât discipline incompetence, but harsh discipline is only going to make the servants less able to complete the task.
>Failure state for the servants is if their Competence ever reaches 0, and failure state for everyone is if the Drowâs Reputation ever reaches 0.
Half the Game Masterâs job will be keeping track of the strict and deliberately impossibly overcomplicated etiquette by which servants have to address Drow, and docking their Competence when they screw up(and possibly docking Drow Reputation if anybody else sees her letting that slide), and keeping track of the strict militaristic code of honor and (evil) morality that all Drow are expected to exemplify whether they actually enjoy being cruel psychopaths or not, and docking Reputation when the Drow fails to uphold the right standard of evilness in front of other Drow.
The servant part of the âpartyâ will either have to humorously manipulate Drow while hiding that anything is wrong, or they and their Drow will all have to all work together to maintain a facade of this brutal hierarchy
Drow lose Reputation and servants lose Competence when they fail to adhere to social etiquette that covers like 15 pages of instructions (designed to be impossible to follow). In that way, it might be considered similar to Paranoia, with a similar sense of humor.
Some of the servantsâ etiquette would be like
>donât speak out loud to a Drow unless told to by that Drow
>at the same time, donât remain silent when a Drow expects them to answer a question even if she didnât explicitly say they could speak
And this is why the Drow has to be a PC, because this same servant etiquette is a pitfall for the Drow. if she doesnât make her expectations explicitly clear, it puts the servants in an impossible situation, where they will embarrass her with their incompetence(even though itâs her fault) and she will be socially obligated to go out of her way to discipline them. Of course in the in-setting society, the fault lies with the servant, because they should have intuited when they were being given permission to speak or not. Some Drow will be self-aware enough to realize that they caused this situation, most won't.
The structure of their society will often incentivize a tactful Drow to "roll with" mistakes made by servants, e.g. "No, my servants did have permission to address me out loud, you just weren't clever enough to catch it."
Each will have to cover for the other, and/or hide things from each other and the Drow's social rivals.

Il existe un royaume suspendu entre les souffles du vent et les murmures des abysses, oĂč lâocĂ©an ne se contente pas dâembrasser les rives mais façonne les Ăąmes et dicte les destins. Elyrian, tissĂ© dâĂźles Ă©parses et de rĂ©cifs oubliĂ©s, vit au rythme des marĂ©es cĂ©rulĂ©ennes, bercĂ© par les soupirs dâun monde oĂč le temps sâĂ©tire comme une vague caressant le sable.
Lorsque les MarĂ©es GuerriĂšres sâĂ©lĂšvent, les eaux sâadoucissent, et lâhorizon sâouvre aux navires portant avec eux les ombres du conflit. Mais quand vient la Saison des TempĂȘtes, les cieux se dĂ©chirent, les flots rugissent et le royaume, repliĂ© dans son sanctuaire dâĂ©cume et de sel, Ă©chappe aux griffes des envahisseurs.
Sous la surface, lĂ oĂč la lumiĂšre se brise en mille Ă©clats, des dieux sommeillent, les abysses murmurent des secrets, et les courants emportent les Ăąmes de ceux qui osĂšrent dĂ©fier lâinfini. Car Elyrian nâappartient Ă personne â il ne fait que prĂȘter ses rivages Ă ceux qui savent Ă©couter le chant des vaguesâŠ
LE PALAIS DES MARĂESÂ
Dans la pĂ©nombre feutrĂ©e du palais, lâencens brĂ»le en volutes paresseuses, masquant Ă peine lâodeur dâherbes mĂ©dicinales et de cire fondue. La chambre du Monarque des MarĂ©es baigne dans une lueur vacillante, projetĂ©e par les lanternes suspendues aux piliers sculptĂ©s. Le silence pĂšse, seulement troublĂ© par le frĂ©missement du vent derriĂšre les vitraux et la respiration irrĂ©guliĂšre du souverain alitĂ©.
â Il ne se rĂ©veille pas.
La voix est basse, tendue. Le MaĂźtre GuĂ©risseur referme un grimoire dâun geste las, et lâĂ©change avec une fiole oĂč danse un liquide opalescent. Autour de lui, dâautres soigneurs murmurent entre eux, Ă©changeant des hypothĂšses Ă voix basse.
â Pas de fiĂšvre, pas de poison dĂ©tectĂ©, pas de sortilĂšge⊠Pourtant, il sâaffaiblit chaque jour un peu plus.
Un garde, appuyé contre un pilier, croise les bras. Son armure crisse légÚrement.
â On murmure que les Ăźles disparaissent. Que les vents sâemballent et que la mer recule lĂ oĂč elle ne lâa jamais fait.
â Des superstitions, rĂ©plique sĂšchement un Ă©rudit en ajustant ses rouleaux de parchemin dans ses bras. Le royaume a connu bien des tempĂȘtes et des secousses dans le passĂ©.
â Pas comme celles-ci, intervient un autre soigneur, dâune voix plus hĂ©sitante. Les marĂ©es ne suivent plus leur cycle. Les runes sacrĂ©es du Sanctuaire dâYvrael sâeffacent et mĂȘme les prĂȘtres de Scyran nâentendent presque plus les murmures des profondeurs.
Un frisson parcourt la salle.
â Si le sceau sacrĂ© faiblit, alorsâŠÂ souffle lâun des jeunes guĂ©risseurs.
Le silence retombe, pesant comme une chape de plomb. Tous savent ce que cela signifie : les Seigneuries dâElyrian vont devoir gouverner en lâabsence du Monarque. Mais elles ne sont pas prĂȘtes.
Et le royaume non plus.

Today I recommend a game. Midnight Train by Lydia!!! A free RPG Maker game with mystery and adventure. AND AN AWESOME PLOT!!!! (/pos)
In summary, the protagonist Luna Wyndell who while travelling in a train, finds that everyone in it has mysteriously disappeared!!! The train has stopped at a mysterious building, as if she was left in a whole other dimension...!!!! She meets a guy named Neil Lawton and together they try to escape this situation and discover the truth of what's going on!!!! They meet people along the way!!! Is it a curse?!?!!? Who caused this and why were they brought here?!? You find outđđ©·
I think the cast of characters are the strongest point in this game. They are so charming and I really enjoyed seeing them work through the story in such different manners... There's some really nice relationship dynamics and there's even sad backstories to them (for anyone who is very invested by characters who have them www I sure am. this game has a ton of thoseđ/positive). Seeing them grow and work to find a brighter future through the game's chapters was very engaging.
THE MYSTERY IS ALSO VERY COOL!!!! Had me hooked to the very end. It is very satisfying to see how everything and everyone starts connecting, it is truly awesome.
The gameplay involves puzzles and different challenges such as quick time events and other stuff (not sure how to call it, but it is fun ww). I really like how the puzzles in the game were handled, and there's even some accessibility options given to you if you want them.

(Want to note that if you have issues starting a chapter when you first open the game (like the game telling you it cant find a certain graphic), you probably need to download the RPG MAKER ACE VX Runtime Package. It says so when you're downloading the game on the site but I am ditzy and may have missed it myself for a while www. So for anyone who could also miss it, I have to note it out.)
There's also a remake in development, so definitely go support it if you enjoyed the game!!!

I feel like you may either get this question all the time or not at all, so here goes:
if I'm really not interested in narrative investigation / mystery, but *super* interested in large-scale political intrigue (think nation scale), would Eureka be a good fit for me? I definitely don't want to push the game into being something it's not out of respect for the folks working on it, so I'd love to have a better understanding of what it's good at. :)
Iâm not 100% sure what you mean by this, so I hope this is still a helpful answer.
Eureka is about investigating mysteries at a personal level, meaning typically a single point-of-view. It is normally about people with no political power, but if it was some kind of inter-department conspiracy investigation that âgoes all the way to the topâ or something, I think Eureka could still work with a tiny bit of tweaking so long as the actual gameplay is still carried out by each player following their own characters through it at a personal level. I think thatâs the most advice I can give you. If you havenât already read Eureka: Investigative Urban Fantasy, itâs free, so you can go ahead and do so and that might give you a better grasp on if it would work. We would appreciate some payment, but itâs not mandatory, especially if you end up deciding it isnât what youâre looking for.

was trying to write a sex scene and my brain was like "hey the sociocultural impacts of healing magic/potions/whatever is a really under-explored aspect of fantasy/RPG settings" and i was like goddammit he's right. dragon age 2 kind of hints at the significance of having a healer readily available to working class people and how that's clearly not the standard and that's cool, but also: imagine the ACADEMIC implications as well! funding for research into non-magical healing/medicine is rejected in favor of magical healing research, which makes sense to a certain extent since healing magic is objectively faster and more efficient, but it's also much less accessible since it can only be practiced by a mage (a minority). much to think about!!!!

You can play it however you want!'#this is true of every tabletop rpg#you are making up a game with your friends of course you can do whatever you want#if you're playing dnd by ignoring over half the rules then the rules are probably over-bloated for the kind of game you're trying to play#the fact that you are having fun is a testament to your group being good sports and roleplayers/having a good gm#it doesn't mean that dnd is particularly well designed for your group#and also dnd (even 5e) is not especially beginner friendly and its shitty corporate overlords want you to pay at least $150 to play it#but it's so entrenched in our culture and rhe community has put so much effort into making it as accessible as possible regardless#that it's so hard to get people to look past it#i promise you that whatever game you want to play whether it's social intrigue or combat or dungeon crawling in whatever genre you want#somebody has made it#and somebody has also made amazing games that you never could've imagined needing but maybe they're just right for you#I'm not saying dnd is poorly designed like there's obviously a lot of good things about the huge scope of 5e and its experience#if you like using all of those systems or having them on hand in case they come up in play that is so awesome#I'm glad you found the game for you#but it isn't the game for everyone! and acting like it is funnels more money and cultural capital into the hand of wotc#when we could be supporting small publishers and indie creators making sick niche shit#y'all heard about bluebeard's bride? you play as bluebeard's new wife wandering through the rooms of his house#just the one bride. the different players play different aspects of her personality and can get into arguments about what to do next#isn't that wild and cool?#okay rant over#a podcast man made me upset through no fault of his own#and i had to get it out of my system#my rambles#negative/#tma#d/nd#ttr/pgs#i have no idea if that tag thing actually works or if tumblr users made it up#i never want to put negative posts in main tags man. A l'approche de NoĂ«l 2011, alors que les rues de Hanseo sont dĂ©jĂ illuminĂ©es par les dĂ©corations, l'attention des rĂ©sidents est dĂ©tournĂ©e de la prĂ©paration des fĂȘtes de fin d'annĂ©e. Sous les lumiĂšres des flashs des appareils photos et les cris des journalistes, une jeune femme frĂȘle avance, tĂȘte baissĂ©e, visage dissimulĂ© sous un masque et une casquette. Elle est escortĂ©e depuis chez elle par une armada de policiers. MalgrĂ© les appels incessants des journalistes qui tentent d'obtenir une dĂ©claration de la jeune femme, celle-ci reste silencieuse.
Il s'agit de la premiĂšre apparition publique de Seolbi, et de la premiĂšre occasion pour les habitants de Hanseo de mettre enfin un visage sur ce pseudonyme qui fait tant couler d'encre. Depuis quelques annĂ©es, Seolbi fait trembler Hanseo en rĂ©vĂ©lant anonymement les secrets les plus sombres de ses rĂ©sidents dans sa chronique. Chaebols, cĂ©lĂ©britĂ©s, hommes politiques, et mĂȘme simples citoyens ; personne n'est Ă l'abri des dĂ©nonciations. L'affaire rĂ©cente des Seok qui a dĂ©frayĂ© la chronique en est un exemple.
Les Seok, l'une des familles chaebols les plus puissantes de la capitale, ont vu leur empire s'effondrer aprĂšs que Seolbi ait rĂ©vĂ©lĂ© leur implication dans un vaste rĂ©seau de trafic d'ĂȘtres humains. Si les accusations portĂ©es n'ont pas tout de suite Ă©tĂ© prises au sĂ©rieux, la vĂ©ritĂ© a fini par Ă©clater, et, aprĂšs confirmation par enquĂȘte policiĂšre, la famille Seok s'est retrouvĂ©e ruinĂ©e, leur rĂ©putation entachĂ©e. Quant Ă l'entreprise familiale, elle a rapidement Ă©tĂ© dĂ©clarĂ©e en faillite, prĂ©cipitant dans sa chute plusieurs autres familles influentes associĂ©es. HumiliĂ© par le scandale, Seok Dongwon, pĂšre de famille et dirigeant de la sociĂ©tĂ©, a mis fin Ă ses jours.
Si Seolbi a Ă©tĂ© apprĂ©hendĂ©e et emprisonnĂ©e pour diffamation, atteinte Ă la vie privĂ©e, diffusion d'informations privĂ©es et incitation au suicide, certaines personnes ont bien tentĂ© de poursuivre son Ćuvre, mais aucune n'a rĂ©ussi Ă l'Ă©galer ; et les familles influentes, craignant de subir le mĂȘme sort que les Seok, sont parvenues Ă faire taire ces dĂ©nonciateurs Ă©mergeants.

Le 20 juillet 2024, Hanseo tremble à nouveau. Lors de la soirée commémorant les 650 ans de la capitale à Nokcheon Park, une coupure de courant géante plonge la ville dans l'obscurité pendant une heure et demi. Cet événement, qui porte aujourd'hui le nom de Hanseo Jeonja Honjap Night (la "nuit du chaos numérique") a poussé certains perturbateurs à profiter de la situation pour commettre de multiples infractions : cambriolages, vols, dégradations. C'est à ce moment qu'une notification anonyme est apparue sur tous les téléphones portables de la ville : "Nana & Yuko" se sont présentées comme les nouvelles Seolbi et ont annoncé qu'elles révéleront tous les secrets que les habitants de Hanseo tenteraient de dissimuler.
D'abord accueillie avec beaucoup de doute, cette dĂ©claration est finalement prise au sĂ©rieux lorsque, une semaine plus tard, Nana & Yuko dĂ©voilent des preuves irrĂ©futables des activitĂ©s illĂ©gales de Sha Donghwa, dirigeant du groupe Nexara Solutions, accusĂ© d'extorsion et de blanchiment d'argent. Nana & Yuko semblent dĂ©terminĂ©es Ă poursuivre l'Ćuvre de Seolbi, et peut-ĂȘtre mĂȘme Ă la surpasser.
Qui se cache derriĂšre ce duo mystĂ©rieux ? S'agit-il d'un individu opĂ©rant seul, ou d'un groupe de personnes ? Ces personnes sont-elles basĂ©es Ă Hanseo, ou se cachent-elles Ă l'Ă©tranger ? Quoiqu'il en soit, Ă Hanseo, il devient difficile de prĂ©server ses secrets let il faudra dĂ©sormais redoubler d'ingĂ©niositĂ© pour ne pas ĂȘtre dĂ©noncĂ© par les hĂ©ritiĂšres de Seolbi.
