thank u for the tag @semperama 😌 any opportunity to talk about my favourite thing! books! 😌
An estimate of how many physical books I own: where i live currently i have 132 physical books, but i also have some in storage and some in my parents house, so i would guess maybe about 220-250 maybeeee
Favorite author: i really don't have a stand out author...authors who have published my favouriteeee ever books have then produced really lackluster other works in my opinion....i feel like someone who never lets me down is ottessa moshfegh because u get what u get with her but i don't think i'd claim her as an outright favourite??
A popular book I've never read and never intend to read: truly anything by colleen hoover i am all for big popular books that get a large specific audience reading again, but we can do better by young girls and get them reading something sliiiightttllyyyy better (not shitting on anyone who enjoys colleen hoover, again they cater to a specific market and i think thats great, just not my cup of tea, but from what i've heard she's got a couple of questionable opinions)
A popular book I thought was just meh: normal people! :)) god it bored me sooooooooo much which is a shame cause the tv show slaps
Longest book I own: a suitable boy by vikram seth, 1474 pages!!!!!!!! and i read it in two weeks during the height of covid lockdown and it was EXCELLENT
Longest series I own all the books to: probably game of thrones....never been a massive series gal so yeah thats the only one i can think of off the top of my head?
Prettiest book I own: i have a really beautiful collection of charles dickens' books even though i'm not his biggest fan at all (loved david copperfield, enjoy a christmas carol, have read great expectations) but they were a gift and they do look really pretty on my shelves at my parents house!
A book or series I wish more people knew about: urmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm okay not to like talk about it again.............but at swim two boys............it was highly applauded when it was first published and was very popular but feel like it's popularity waned but its got two boys trying to resist falling in love and choosing to spend time together by learning to swim in the cold dublin sea.......the tumblr girlies would eat that up nowadays......also bewilderment by richard powers i think everyone should read that book 😌
Book I'm reading now: briefly, a delicious life by nell stevens....only about 50 pages in so far but good fun, a sapphic ghost love story from what i can tell so far so intriguing....
Book that's been on my TBR list for a while but I still haven't got around to it: the fifth season by n.k. jemisin.....tried reading it but wasn't in a sci-fi mood so only got one chapter in and then it has just.....sat there......for like.....two years......
Do you have any books in a language other than English: no and i am ashamed.....
Paperback, hardcover, or ebook?: paperback anyyyyyyyyyyy day of the week let me BREAK that spine let me make you look worn and loved and read let me chuck you into my bag and u barely add any weight!!! i dont hate a hardback but avoid buying them unless it is a book i am DESPERATE to read asap or it's at a good price but yeah i am a paperback girlie <3 don't own an e-reader apart from having the kindle app on my ipad so v rarely venture into e-books and i am sorry but nothing beats the feel of a book in ur hands like i need to feeeeel the pages
tagging @gokartkid @monagasque @lilyrizzy & @karlmarxverstappen if u would like xx

Benoit Blanc (Knives Out + Glass Onion) enjoyers, may I please entreat you to read Maurice Leblanc's Arsène Lupin? These movies are the kinds of cases Lupin would get himself involved in just for the fun of it
In the USA, books 1-17* are in the public domain :)
*1-17, number-wise, according to the wikipedia chronology ; depending on the publisher / country / language etc of the various editions, some stories were included as bonuses in various translations but not available until later in the original french, etc etc etc. Books/Stories also have....way too many alternate titles, so don't be too alarmed if you're looking at print copies anywhere and see different names for different books.

Well, I absolutely did not expect it to take an entire year from exp. 2600 to the next issue, but such is life, honestly. Either way I'm terrifically pleased to announce that exp. 2601 will be debuting this weekend as part of Spring Online Canzine 2024, Canada's premiere zine festival running April 13th to 21st.
This issue covers the eleven games released for the Atari 2600 in 1978, with essays on Space Invaders and the year 1978 to provide context. Even if you're not particularly interested in the Atari 2600, I think there's a lot in here for anyone interested in video games and their history, so I hope you'll check it out.
As with the first issue, exp. 2601 is being published in a signed, numbered limited edition of 52 and I'm also making it available as a PDF and ebook for people who don't want a little object, but still want something to read on an iPad or a Kindle with a bit more focus than they'd give to a webpage.
I am opening pre-orders here today, in advance of Canzine, so I can announce the issue with enough time to ensure subscribers know about it and are aware that they automatically receive 35% off in our ko-fi shop (including on new issues.) It's just $1 per month to become a subscriber, and you'll also get new articles a week early (as well as regular exclusive articles.) Physical copies will be sent out in the last week of April, with digital copies arriving as soon as Canzine begins.
Tumblr media
In addition, and not to bury the lede here, for the first time since 2020 my ebook collecting the best of the original run of exp., exp. negatives, is also available for pre-order today, and will be on sale during, and only during, Spring Online Canzine 2024 (to reiterate: April 13th-21st).
If you don't have any of my available digital publications (exp. 2600, 2601, and negatives) I have also made a bundle of all three available for pre-order with a $2 discount for all (and if you're a subscriber, that stacks with your discount!)
I'd like to thank everyone reading this for their support across the years and let you know that there are more exciting things in the pipeline for exp. this year. Did you know it's been ten years since I started Every Game I've Finished? That fact might become important...

[26] “Wounded” — Derwent brush, Drawing group (in the Procreate app). I was thinking — we have the advanced technology to create digital art, but we lack the advanced technology to present digital art. Computer monitors, tablets and smartphones won’t do. They lack the necessary significance, momentousness, solemnity; as do modern printing methods, which are excellent for books and periodicals, but are too cheap-looking for art. (An art print is merely a glorified poster.) Digital art is the art of our age, digital age, and here is the list of the three technologies that digital artists need to properly present their art:
1) We need high resolution, thin digital screens. Imagine the screen of an iPad Pro the size of Rembrandt’s “The Night Watch” (11′ 11″ x 14′ 4″). Imagine a screen that is essentially as light and as thin as the thickest canvas and can be produced in any dimensions required; a screen that is powered by light, like a solar-powered calculator. (The solar panel would run along the circumference of the screen and would also serve as the frame for the artwork.)
This screen will not only present the digital art, hung on walls of homes, galleries and museums, but also present the video of how that digital art was created, thus revolutionizing the way we view art. We need Apple to do this. They created two fantastic tools for making digital art — the iPad Pro and the iPencil (it’s not really called that, but it should be) — and now they need to create the tool that will show this art in the most suitable way — on large, thin screens.
Art created digitally ought to be presented digitally, and on equal terms with the art of the past; meaning, digital art shown on these large canvas-like screens should hang alongside the paintings of Van Gogh, Monet, Cézanne, Picasso, Matisse, Kandinsky, etc.
2) We need new type of printing. We need printers that can print in depth — 3-D printers that print in full color. But that would just be transitional technology. We need printers that print with oil paints and can layer those paints the way that oil painters layer their paintings. We need printers that can “print” impasto. This would be an alternative way to high tech screens of presenting digital art. (I prefer the screens. If you want to make oil paintings then use oil paints. Unless you purposely want you digital art to “look” like oil paintings — a kind of trompe l'oeil l’oil.)
3) We need more advanced ebook presentation. I am thinking about my needs here. This isn’t about technology as much as coding. I am going to collect some of my art and publish it in book and in ebook forms. But I want the ebooks to be able to also have embedded videos, of the same size as the page of the artwork. The videos will show how each artwork was created. These ebooks will represent a new kind of art book.
The inclusion of videos inside ebooks will increase the file sizes of the ebooks significantly — imagine a book collecting images of 100 artworks and their corresponding 4K videos, each around 3 to 5 minutes long. Huge file size. Amazon and Apple will need to make the necessary data storage upgrades to make these kind of ebooks happen.
It’s worth it. These types of art books will not only create better educated viewers, they will also create future generations of superior artists.

How To Make Money Online-20 Ways to Earn Money Online
how to make money online – On this page, based on our understanding, follow the best ways to use extra time while learning. We will continue to add  best practices to this page, so please tag us. Also, post your thoughts in the comments!
Tumblr media
How To Make Money Online
1. Online surveys –
A common and undeniable way students can make money is by collecting online courses in their free time.Think tanks continue to attract young people from all over the world in response to reviews and experiments.
Completing a few buildings will reward you with £2-3 in cash or prizes. Some courses can be packed up to £3 ($5)!
A few good ones to try are: Toluna、Branded Surveys、LifePoints、InboxPound、Onepoll、Say、Opinion Outpost、Populus Live、YouGov、Pinecone、Valued Opinion、The Opinion Panel、Pricerebel、Marketagent、Mingle、Opinion Bureau、SurveyBods、Panel Base、Survey Junkie。
So pursue the Swagbucks You get ratings as you browse the web, watch recordings, and throw.
2.Online market trading –
While this is not an easy way to bring in cash, putting resources into a currency exchange can help if you find out how to do it properly and safely. With the same token, you may be tolerating serious misfortunes if you do not look at them properly.
Today there is no compelling reason to support the yachts of the Wolf of Wall Street style retailers. You can do it all yourself with the help of online market exchanges. I have spent many hours researching this new opportunity, trying different things on the regular stage EToro.com.
EToro has more than 12 million customers worldwide and offers free custom accounts. Highlighted in the history of BBC 2 “Brokers: Millions on a Goal” and supports several Premier League football teams.
3. Start your own website –
Interested in making easy money? You need a site. It is the best way to bring cash while you relax.
Starting a site with Bluehost takes less than 20 minutes, is free of charge and should be done by an . It only takes a touch of web-based media to get your first visitors, and there are many ways to sync your web page.
Save the Student is just one example of a fruitful site, started in college by Owen Burek in his first year, which has already become a full-time and great career.
Use a little Owen to manage in a very efficient way to start a site in a short time. It is probably the best source you can have.
4. Become a delivery rider or driver –
Do you have a bicycle, motorcycle or car? What can be said about the Smartphone? You just have to be more discriminating with the help you render toward other people.
Join tech organizations like Deliveroo chasing new riders. They let you adapt perfectly to work when you need it, transferring food from cafes to customer entry. You can make up to £ 16 60 minutes.
Bend your chances by reaching directly to the carriers near the big chains like Dominos to check if they have shipping operations.
5. Write and publish a Kindle eBook –
If students are welcome in anything, it is investigated and constructed. With the Kindle store, anyone can distribute an eBook and bring money to Amazon.
In addition, the Kindle app is currently available on any gadget (PCs, iPads, mobile phones and in fact, Kindles) so your global market is huge!
Rundown your book for £ 1.49 – £ 6.99 and get 70% of the deal. Looking at Amazon is a clear marketing tool (and remember the people who hope to use it), that’s a great setting.
promote digital literature
The way to improve with eBooks is to make respect, and a true composition in life. Basically the packing data you have researched you put it into a general issue (e.g. ‘insider facts’ to find a new line of work) and then presenting it with an easy-to-make process (eBook) authorizes a person who puts in a few quid it.
Another great idea is to have a customized cover (use these) so it sticks, and once your book is live in the Kindle store it is very important to get a few surveys so it seems to be high in results. Urge abusers to leave a formal survey by the end of your book.
The great thing about this ideal idea is that whenever you donate on time (say 20 hours), you will earn easy money in the long run!
6. Affiliate marketing –
If you happen to be a decent person with a web-based media or perhaps have a blog or site, you can start earning money right away by developing organizations, objects, management and offers on the web.
Join as a distributor in the , Awin check out their blog offers or use vendor posts to find something you find that your friends would like the most, rob you of your offshoot connection and give it to you. If someone can buy (can be within as long as 90 days) using your connection you will make a nice commission.
To do more, set up a site (read our guide) or an active Facebook page and welcome all your friends to join it and post what your member offers there.
7. Mobile phone recycling –
You can make good money and help weather the weather by reusing your old phones and other unused gadgets. Maybe ask if they can have sex with them.
Go to our page to bring money from old phones for the best organizations to use and how they guarantee you get all the money shown on the web.
8. Part-time job –
Low maintenance work is undeniably the best option, taken by many students hoping to improve their illicit study loans. It provides you with a good deal of inconsistency in salary and can give you the ability to gain valuable insight into a job.
However, consistent employment is not always easy to find!
Start with our quest for a new job, then explore neighborhood segregation and manage your college skills to find opportunities.
It is also worth joining the CV Library, a free utility that will work with your CV and the appropriate functions for low maintenance and vocation.
Use your booklet to find a low maintenance job while learning to get extra tips.
9. Sell your notes –
In the event that you wouldn’t fret imparting your notes to different understudies it’s an incredible method to produce some additional money. There are destinations out there that you can transfer your notes to, alongside your cost, and afterward when another understudy downloads them you get paid.
The greater part of these locales like Nexus Notes and Stuvia are free for you to list your notes yet will in general take a cut of your benefit to deal with the showcasing and so on so you don’t need to go out there and advance your notes yourself.
You will no doubt need to transfer PDFs except for it’s great for the return and you can submit manually written notes yet you’re probably going to get more cash-flow in the event that they’re composed up.
10. Sell second-hand course books –
Another great way to bring in cash is to buy more student reading materials at the end of the year, and then sell them just after the renewal week – when new receptions for students find they need them!
You can advertise nearby or show them online successfully in the Amazon Marketplace (just remember they take a commission from the books sold).
Here are 29 things you can sell right now!
11. Buy and sell domain names –
A space name is only a site address (eg. ‘savethestudent.org’ or ‘mysite.co.uk’) and there are loads of augmentations (.com, .net, .co.uk and so on)
They cost just $0.99 to enroll with Go Daddy.com yet premium space names can get $1,000s if not millions when sold on. In 2007 VacationRentals.com went for a cool $35m!
Presently you’re presumably not going to go over anything like that, however you can in any case turn an easy gain with a touch of looking. Try to discover accessible area names which have some business esteem, eat them up and afterward show them available to be purchased on a site like Sedo.com.
12. Sell your photos –
In the event that you think you have a decent shot and a little innovativeness, have a go at transferring your photos for nothing to stock sites. A decent beginning stage is Adobe Stock or Getty Images.
Get more cash-flow selling photograph subjects that have less query items however you feel would have some interest. It very well may be a smart thought to test them out on paper first yourself (get free photograph prints here).
13. Freelance work –
Maybe you appreciate composing, managing Facebook pages or making smidgen visual visuals in your spare time. There are many private positions out there that require specific skills or just a time that someone else may not have.
In addition, the key to outsourcing is that you can serve UK customers and across the planet with a web connection from home, to your hours while performing important skills.
An unbelievable place to start is on the great private site Upwork.com. Or on the other hand take a stab at using our non-learning requirement to get a new job to get independent positions close to home.
14. Sell clothes on eBay –
Everyone’s favorite friend about dumping garbage is eBay. An online closure is a fiery way to turn that sleeveless coat (which came in all its design in seven days) into hard cash.
Some eBay sellers take a gander at the patterns and try to see what will be bigger in front of the market. If you think you’re welcome and you wouldn’t have to worry about facing the challenge, you can buy from traveling in bulk and sell when the flu arrives.
15. Sell your stories and videos –
In the event that you have an intriguing story, you could take a stab at offering it to the papers. It very well may be anything from laying down with an expert footballer to getting trapped in a garments horse!
One of the Save the Student group was adequately sad to have a pigeon fly through and crush their window at college and offered the story to The Sun for a clean £50.
You could likewise film your mates consistently and send it into You’ve Been Framed to net yourself £250 and a couple of moments of popularity.
16. videos –
Based on late data we are currently seeing a larger number of recordings on YouTube than viewing on Google.
Also, with the YouTube Partner Program launched late now you will now be able to benefit from recording and transferring recordings. You will find the amount of information revenue collected in a thousand ways.
Depending on how hard you work (fitness, sponsorship base and theme) you can get a cash load on the boat, and there are plenty of news every seven days for YouTubers that are increasingly making it their business.
17. Source property for wealthy investors –
We as a whole expertise much cash there is in property, however on a superficial level (with house costs however high as they seem to be) you may be thinking this market is beyond reach.
Honestly, bunches of individuals make a lot of money just sourcing reasonable properties for rich financial backers who basically have no time.
Try to discover properties beneath market esteem (BMV) by keeping away from domain specialists and rather flyering your region with your contact subtleties offering to purchase houses. At that point approach financial backers with an easy decision offer to pass on the subtleties of cut-value property in return for a % of the deal esteem.
Most urban communities will have month to month organizing occasions for landowners and property financial backers. Track these down, join, put on your best suit and oblige bunches of business cards. Or then again you could begin on LinkedIn or even Twitter to assemble some underlying contacts.
As you would envision, this isn’t really a speedy method to bring in cash however whenever you have a couple of financial backers in your telephone directory it can end up being worthwhile over the long haul. In case you’re intrigued, I suggest perusing this book.
18. Watch videos –
Assuming making recordings seems like a lot of difficult work, getting paid to watch recordings online must be perhaps the most straightforward approaches to bring in cash, ever.
Swagbucks and InboxPounds are the most mainstream sites as they in a real sense pay you to pause for a moment and watch things like adverts and recordings expecting to turn into a web sensation.
For more included and compensating openings, consider spreading out as a consultant composing up film captions or composing film audits.
In the event that watching recordings and motion pictures is your thing and you need to expand your income, head over to our full rundown of approaches to bring in cash from watching recordings.
19. Rent out your house for filming –
Chiefs for TV and film are consistently on the chase for houses to film in. For example, a scene for Coronation Street was as of late recorded in the understudy house one of the Save the Student editors used to live in!
Not exclusively would you be able to take in substantial income however it’s insane seeing your own place on TV. Begin by seeing this site.
20. Work as a charity collector –
Alright, so this work takes a specific sort of individual, as you’ll need to take a great deal of dismissal and be tireless.
In any case, in the event that you are effervescent, charming and figure you could offer ice to an Inuit then this could really be an incredible understudy lucrative thought. You get paid commission on new recruits (normally around £20).
View Wesser just as noble cause sites like Oxfam.

Can you make a book using only an iPad?? Turns out you can!! March Meet the Maker: Learn Do you know that old adage “nothing ventured, nothing gained” that’s how I feel about learning new things … So today I am sharing my adventures in book layouts. In school I learned the Adobe favorite lnDesign. But Adobe treats ipad like it’s not important to design… enter @affinitybyserif and their publisher software which I recently taught myself how to use on iPad to make the first Dr Rat book for @authorslannigan (ebook out now… paper coming soon) Needless to say I learned something new recently 😊 Book illustrations done with @linea_app and layout done with #affinitypublisher #illustrator #illustration #kidlitillustration #kidlit #childrensbooks #childrensbookillustration #publisher #booklayout #bookdesign #bookdesigner #designer (at Chicago, Illinois) https://www.instagram.com/p/CpfYdM_OhFh/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

The work that goes into producing a full-length fiction novel is enough for a full-time staff with at least a forty-hour work week. For many indie authors, including myself, it is typically a one-person operation. There are authors with teams, helpers, and roped-in family members, but even for multi-person scribe-squads, the workload can be daunting. The tasks run from the actual writing/typing, editing, marketing, and, among other things, designing the art. When it came to my debut young adult sci-go superhero novel, Unsecret Identity: Eric Icarus - Book One, I ultimately ended up tackling these assignments solo.
Simply because I wear many hats when it comes to creating this particular story does not necessarily entitle me to any special treatment or extra credit. As previously mentioned, there are numerous writers who bear the work weight on their shoulders with not much assistance. My journey so far has seen numerous learning curve-balls thrown my way as I figure out this whole author thing on the fly. I still have miles to go before I can go around boasting about my writing skill—the biggest lesson so far is that you never stop learning. Trends change, tastes differ, and technology advances. As I continue to develop my techniques, I roll with more punches than I hand out hits.
Speaking of technology, my experience as a graphic designer has proved to be greatly beneficial when creating cover art. Utilizing software programs like Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign, I am able to format the manuscripts as well as include interior art. As of this writing, Unsecret Identity is nearing its completion in transitioning from being only available as an ebook to a printed paperback edition. I was prepared to cross the finish line when I decided to insert more illustrations as part of the book. It’s an exciting concept that could help set the novel apart and further express my vision of the characters and settings, but… it also means more delay.
This is where tech comes back into play. I’ve been drawing my entire life, but as pencillers know, the sketching process can be time-consuming. Digital drawing has changed the game for me: using the Apple Pencil on an iPad while running the Procreate drawing program has drastically improved my illustration process. Don’t get me wrong, I believe I will always prefer the traditional method, but using a stylus on a smooth screen not only allows me to zoom in for meticulous detail (along with an overwhelming amount of brush choices), but the slick glass surface is much more preferable for me. I’m not sure why exactly, but I've always had a sensitivity to the feel of paper. So, naturally my greatest interests are writing and drawing—two paper-based hobbies. Thanks to the digital age, the only limit is my imagination (and battery life).
Well, there is at least one other limit - my time. Similar to other self-publishing authors, my writing time is usually whenever I can carve out a short period throughout a typical day. As quick and convenient as tablet drawing can be, it’s still a matter of how exhausted I am after tending to “real life” commitments. This leads to the reason I do not simply outsource the jobs: cheap labor! I don’t consider myself a control freak, though saying that, it is a bit of a point of pride to be able to complete these mounting tasks myself. The entire book-making process is a gauntlet but it’s something I can use all talents for (opinions on the end result may have some questioning the extent of this talent, but, hey, like I said, it’s cheap labor!).
As if performing all these duties with a lack of downtime wasn’t enough of a challenge, I intend on recording the audiobook version of Unsecret Identity myself. I am not sure if I’m a jack of all trades or a glutton for punishment, but regardless, I’m ready to DIY.
Stay in the loop for more details by following Jonfcition Blog on Substack and be sure to check out jonmcbrine.com for more info about this and all my books.
Unsecret Identity: Eric Icarus - Book One is available now from the Amazon Kindle store.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hello!
If you've been following this tumblr for a long time, you might be aware that it began as a sequel, in some respects, to a zine, exp., I published for a while to at least a modicum of critical and cult success (as far as zines go, anyway) and which I stopped publishing because... well, I'm not really sure why I stopped doing it at the time, but I do know that for nigh-on ten years now Every Game I've Finished has served as a pleasant outlet for my writing. However, since I've actually organized my "system" for playing games and have ended up playing a lot more retro titles, I'm now generating so much writing that it's starting to feel like a bit of a waste to just keep throwing it into the ether. Especially as now social media is a raging bin fire. No one looks at Facebook, Twitter is meaningless for sharing things you care about, and I'm sorry, but I can't turn two thousand words on A Mind Forever Voyaging into a series of Tik Toks. Well, maybe I can, I just don't want to.
So I've decided to give zines another shot. This issue, exp. 2600, is a proof-of-concept for what I intend to be a regular series of zines giving people who want to genuinely engage with thoughtful and hopefully funny writing on video games a little object to have, hold and enjoy. This issue covers the ten launch games of the Atari 2600, including essays on Pong and the year 1977 to provide context.
Our first issue is being published in a signed, numbered limited edition of 52, and I'm also making it available as a PDF and ebook for people who don't want a little object, but still want something to read on an iPad or a Kindle with a bit more focus than they'd give to a webpage. You can pre-order them both both at our ko-fi shop or our bigcartel, with issues being sent out in the first week of May.
Every Game I've Finished will continue to be published weekly. For monthly ko-fi supporters (just $1) as well as access to new articles a week early you recieve an automatic 35% discount for the physical zine via our ko-fi shop and, in future, access to (digital) zine back-issues. So if you're not a subscriber and want to order a copy of the zine, you might want to do that. In fact I recommend it!
