i am soooo sorry if you’ve already been asked this. however, do you have any ratiorine fics you’d recommended??? i haven’t been that intrigued by aventurine’s characterisation in a lot of the ones ive read and was wondering if there are any you have particularly enjoyed, as someone who understands him so well 👍 if not no worriesss
Someone else asked this earlier as well, and I started trying to put together a list of recs, but I struggled so badly because even though I leave kudos or comments, I virtually never remember to bookmark fics, so there's all these fics whose plots or writing I remember as being great, but... what were the titles... I always flounder to find fics again anytime I want to try to make a list of recommendations. (There's also the fact that even if I post a ton about analyzing characterization in canon, my standards for fanfics are... not that high. I'm definitely the "read whatever I see that day" type. 😂)
But here are just a few I could remember, and maybe I can come back and add more to the list later:
Ratiorine Fic Recs
Nagare's "deal with me" - An AU about wish-granting witches that captures the experience of Aventurine being cursed/blessed very well, in my opinion.
Chashmish's "On the Circumvention of Ethics" - I think this is probably exactly what Aventurine would do in canon, post-Penacony.
JMGAngel's "Friendship and Other Related Disasters" - The ratiorine is actually just background in this one, but since you mentioned Aventurine, I really appreciated this fic taking time to include interactions between Aventurine and other characters which I haven't seen much (if ever) in other fics.
vahveroinen's "Open Circuits" - I was a big fan of the "Rota Fortunae" short, so a RF AU fic is also a treat. After this, I feel like a lot of the Ratiorine fics I enjoyed are already really popular, so I'm not sure I need to recommend them even, but I did also enjoy these:
Irisinally's "Of broken nightmares and rotten memories" - A very cool AU scenario with interesting world-building.
katraa's "fermat's last theorem" - Even if you see the plot twist coming, it's a great reveal.
profligate's "a dissertation on affection as a logical locus, by Dr. Veritas Ratio, Ph.D." - Another interesting AU, and I appreciate that the author allowed Aventurine to both do his job and do something good.
greenery_0's "the appeal of domesticity" - For when you want something really light-hearted and cute. To finish off this post, I also want to take the time to plug two Ratiorine fics that were inspired by Ratiorine posts I made! Please go send these guys some love for taking their time to write things inspired by my silly Ratiorine ramblings!
Thetinir's "Apex predator" - AU playing on Ratio and Aventurine's alien biology.
Suidice's "Work-life Imbalance" - Internal IPC messages tracking the evolution of Ratio and Aventurine's partnership.

I was not sure if this was possible for the longest time, it's been sitting in my drafts for months on end, but here it is. Let this be an inspiration, that if you work very hard and do a stupid number of revisions, you can turn completely unpronounceable lyrics, into only mostly unpronounceable lyrics. English phonotactics my enemy...
Irisine is a (apparently disused) synonym for iridin, one of the toxins produced by irises, including Iris japonica (fringed iris) per my google research. Look, it's the one that rhymed.
Tbh, I am still unclear on the phrase "否定形の笑顔". It seems that 否定形 means the grammatical negative form of a verb. So, "wanting even a non-smile?" Very cryptic. Not personally knowing anyone fluent in Japanese, in desperation, I began google-translating the YouTube comments to see if anyone said anything about this line. Instead of finding any clarity, I instead learned that several of the lines reference another literary work "The Moon Over the Mountain" (which I was only able to find a rough translation of online in... the BSD subreddit??) and also that there was EVEN MORE wordplay than I thought and I already knew there was. borderline (?) too much for an english version to be not cringe. Already at the end of my rope trying to preserve rhymes, I completely despaired of attempting to incorporate either of these facts, sorry to Teniwoha, who I know is reading this and shaking his head disappointedly.
Also I was going to tier Immiscible Discord (the event this song was commissioned for) on ensekai but then The Tone Played on that Day (baby kanade) came out and I just like that event much more (story, cards... cutoffs LOL). but I already upgraded my pure plants. just a little oopsie woopsie... surely I can get like a thousand seeds elsewhere

Sevgili masaya,
Sevinebilirsin laptopumu(tabii ki benim değil) üzerinde tuttuğum, şimdiden bile üzerinde bir çok şey yaptığım masum, ufak ama görünüşte biraz da karizmatik olan basit masa. Sevinebilirsin çünkü asla okuyamayacağın ve şuan yazmakta olduğum mektup tamamen sana! Hemen gururlanma, var olmak için aslında bana veya bir insana ihtiyaç duymasan da biz olmasak pek de bir önemin yok denebilir. Ama sakın bunu bir küçümseme olarak alma, ben sadece olanı söylüyorum. Kaba olabilir belki ama beni anlayacağını varsayıyorum, kısa bir süre de olsa birlikte güzel zamanlar geçirdik değil mi?
İnsanlardan bahsetmek benim gibi hayalci yürekli birisi için bir hayli kolay olsa da şimdilik konumun öznesi olarak özgürlüğüyle ün salmış olan bulutları seçiyorum. Öyle alelade bulutlardan bahsetmiyorum ha, bunlar beyaz olduğu kadar karanlıklar da. İncilden şu sözleri hatırlarsın(tabii hatırlamazsın çünkü okumadın), "Işık karanlıkta parlar.", işte bu sözlerdeki gibidir o bulutlar da. Bahsettiğim şeyi pek gerçek dışı da görme bence. Sonuçta sen bayağı büyük bir teras ve o terası çevreleyen devasa bir camdan duvarın hemen kenarındasın. Tabii gözlerin var diyemem, veya kulakların, ama sen beni dinle işte, öyle bulutlar değil bunlar. Zifiri denemeyecek olsa da siyah bir İstanbul göğünde gözle kolayca seçilebilecek bulutlar bunlar.
İster inan ister inanma sevgili masa, bu bulutlar bu saatte bile güzeller. Hatta inanır mısın? Bu saatlerde ayrı bir güzeller. Özgürlüğe olan düşkünlüğüm ile bağlantısız biçimde sadece var oldukları şu anın güzelliği bile yeterli aslında. Tabii özgürlüğün cazipliği de güzeldir ama şu zifiri bile olamayan kirli gibi puslu bir gökyüzüne bile anlam katabilecek ufak tefek, siyah olanlarının önünde seçilebilen beyaz bulutlar bunlar. Karanlıkta parlayan bir mum gibiler. Çevrelerini aydınlattıklarını hiç söyleyemem hatta görmek de aslında kolay sayılmaz ama işte, basitçe güzeller.
Hele bir de gecenin biri olmasına rağmen karanlık beklenen şu gök, İstanbul sebebiyle biraz kirli bir aydınlığa sahip olunca, puslu da olsa bir nebze görünür olan bu bulutlar estetik bir atmosfer de katıyor manzaraya. Ben binaları özellikle seviyor değilim. Aslında doğayı, onun sunduğu tabloları veya direkt o manzaraları tercih ederim ama günümüzde bu gerçek üstü gibi kalan bir manzaraya dönüşüyor. Bazı insanlar şu basit yaşamlarından kafalarını kaldırıp şehirden, içinde hapis oldukları şu kafeslerden bile uzanamayarak dışarıda ne var göremiyorlar. Biliyor musun, ben de çok farklı sayılmam. Ben de birer hapis ruhum onlar gibi ama o ormanları ve dağları, ağaçları özgüvenli biçimde gördüğümü de söyleyebilirim. Bunu böyle içi boş bir özgüven sanmayasın. Bilirim, bir masa olarak ormana dair birkaç şeye sahipsin. Odun parçaları gibi! Ama ya basit bir odun çiftliğinden geldiysen buraya? İşte bak bunu asla bilemezsin. Nereden mi biliyorum?(böyle sorular çok komik çünkü aslında cevaplayamayacağının bilincindeyim) Ben de nereden geldiğimi tam olarak bilmiyorum da ondan!
Bariz biçimde bir masa ve ben farklı şeyleriz kabul ediyorum. Yani bunları eş tutmak akıl karı bile değil ama ben soyut düşünebilen birisi olarak o benzerliği kurabilirim. Eminim sen şuan kuramasan bile günün birinde bunu başaracaksın. Pes etmemelisin sana yardım da ederim. Biz insanlar, evet ne üzücü ki geliyoruz ama hayattaki yerimizi tayin edemeden nereden geldiğimizi sorgulamak gibi bir lüksü olur da takip edersek çuvallıyoruz. Gülme öyle, bu baya üzücü aslında. Biliyorum, anne baba falan filan denir ama bu o kadar basit mi cidden? Sen bununla tatmin olur muydun? Nasıl yani bir ağaç parçası desem sen tatmin olacak değilsindir herhalde? Bende de benzer, başkalarında da öyledir. Yani gel gör ki üzücü bir yere varsa da(tamamen cevabı olmadığından) aslında güzel de bir soru denebilir. Nereden geldin acaba masa?
Markette, reyonlarda değildin bunu biliyoruz en azından. Kusura bakma ama o reyonlar için biraz fazla irisin. Alınmaca güvenmece yok, ben de bazı pantolonlara sığamıyorum diye ağlamıyorum sonuçta. Ama kabul edersin ki cinsiyetini asla öğrenemeyeceğim kahverengi ve odundan gelme gibi duran ama hiç de bu konuda güven vermeyen sen, bariz masa, ikimiz de o bulutlardan baya uzağız. Buna ikimiz de hemfikir olabiliriz bence, cevap vermek zorunda kalmadan emin olacağın tarzda bir şey bu. Biz onlar gibi, şu gece bile tüm bu rüzgarlı gecelere rağmen özgür olabilir miyiz sence? İkimiz farklarımızı konuşuyoruz(tamamen kendi başıma konuşuyorum) ama konu bulutlar olduğunda nasıl da ikimiz tek bir özne gibi bir araya geliyoruz değil mi? Bulutlar bize çok uzak!

Bu kız bir şeyler karalayarak uykuya dalıyordu. Bir sokak lambası gözünü aldığında uyanıyordu, serin yine onu çekiyordu. Paslı hava usluydu, gri ve solgundu. Pencereden dışarıya baktığında İstanbul’un kirli gürültüsünde temiz ruhlar bulabileceğini zannediyordu, duyduğu o seslerde bir nahiflik arıyordu. Ama bilmediği bir şey vardı, o da bu şehrin sır gibi sakladığı bir yalandı; bir sokak ne kadar sessizse o kadar çıkmazdı. Kenara attığı çantasında bir şey ararken sinirleniyor ve çantayı fırlatıyordu, o sokaklarda aydınlık bir pencere arayıp bulamasa kafasını taşlara vurarak parçalardı.
Düşünüyordu ama düşünceler, satırlara sığmadığı gibi bir harita da çizmiyordu, “Evini ararken kaybolmak mümkün müydü? Ev neredeydi? Adresini zihnine mühürleyebilir miydi? Çürük çilekler, sadece mezarlıkların mahsülü müydü? Yoksa rengini ölü bir ruhun donmuş dudaklarına verdiği süs mü?”
Ev neredeydi bilmiyordu ve belki de hiç bilemeyecekti ama gözleri, kimsesizler mezarlığında kökünü arayacak kadar sevgi sarhoşu olmuş o çocuğun almes rengindeki dudaklarını yine arardı. Yine o pütürleri dişinin ucuyla sıyırırdı, midesi ekşimeden ve yıkama ihtiyacı duymazcasına yutardı.

Mendadak Resep: Ayam Kukus

Bismillahirrahmaanirrahiim.
Ayam kukus tuh sebenarnya ayam paling benar 😆 mudah dan kandungannya terkunci, ndak kabur kemana-mana. Kalau direbus bisa pindah ke kuahnya, digoreng apalagi (tapi enaaaaak ya ayam goreng). Maka sebenarnya dikukus aja kan? Tapi kalau dikukus penampakannya sering pucaaaaattttt 🥲 dulu bahkan saya pernah masak ayam kukus kok ya dagingnya agak keras. Ternyataaa rahasianya terjawab di resep ini.
Pijat-pijat ayam dengan kecap asin, saus tiram, garam, merica, minyak wijen (resepnya bilang gitu, tapi kayaknya sampai sekarang saya masih kurang akrab dengan rasa minyak wijen, agak langu-langu gimana gitu), daaaaan tepung maizena. Mungkin tepung maizena ini yang bikin ayamnya melunak.
Di resep ndak ada gula dan baput. Tapi rasanya ndak tenang juga kalau ndak dimasukkan ini berdua. Yauda baput saya parut. Diamkan sekitar 20 menit main hp.
Kukus sekitar 40 menit.
Resepnya nyuruh taroh irisan jahe dan daun bawang di atasnya sebelum dikukus. Tapi ya cuma punya jahe. Enaaak wangi.
Mestinya dimakan pakai chili oil, tapi yaudalah irisin rawit aja biar nda pucat.
Lain kali pakai serai kayaknya lebih seru ni.
Ada kuah kental dari adonan maizena yang dikukus.
Di foto saya pakai nasi yang ada aja, Mama lagi hobi masak beras banjar pakai kacang hijau, nyem enaaak alhamdulillaah. Taburin bawang putih biar kayak jago.
