Hey there Netflix.
Yeah it’s me, User # 1 Billion and Eight probably.
I used to get you in the mail. You had every movie ever and a ton of new and old tv shows. I used you to go full immersion on genres and whole countries that a kid from Alabama never had a chance to explore before.
I remember after your teething troubles and your streaming library really blew up for the first time. You didn’t have everything but if it could be streamed digitally in those early days you probably had it. I got to see a ton of Hammer for the first time with you.
You decided at some point that you wanted to be a tv channel and not the home for movies. That bummed me out and I used you less and less as your movie library dwindled, seeming to fracture with every new competitor platform while you loaded up on millennial sitcoms. Hey it worked out for you right?
You even made some great shows. I loved Glow, I loved Tuca and Bertie, I really enjoyed a lot of Stranger Things, and you even brought back MST3K!
I watched 227 movies last Halloween and I think I used Netflix twice, once because I didn’t want to get up and find my dvd. All those shows are gone now, cut off at the knees, barring Stranger Things …which is ending.
Your own data tells you the bulk of your user base used you over the years as a Friends machine, or an Office machine, or a Stranger Things machine. That repetitive binge isn’t my bag but I see the appeal. But there are plenty of ways to watch those Netflix shows, and these days there’s oodles of Stranger Things content still to be had sans subscription.
All anyone needs in order to not use you is one reason. Almost any reason, any one, would do, and you’ve given people a stream of them these last few years. You’re not even a cheap date any more. And you’ve decided what’s really going to turn it around for you is to make you harder and way more expensive to use for millions of people?
That’s certainly A move. At a time when I need a reason to stay I hardly need another reason to leave. This ain’t a good bye, not now not yet, but a notice. Because when you see your numbers take a huge hit you’re going to blame it on people being too cheap or the ecoooonomy or these KIIIIDS TODAYYYY or whatever (we all know it) and the people who actually make your content are going to have to take the pipe for it. It won’t be any of that though really. It’ll be because YOU’VE been telling us to leave for a while now, and decided the way to turn around from that was to start YELLING IT.

I'm so happy with the 'Deadpool and Wolverine' Gambit
Man you have no idea, I'm Cajun and I've always been irked by the different variations of Gambit because Remy is one of my favorite characters but he's never been proper Cajun. He's always had a stereotypical southern gentleman accent that's not something anyone in Louisiana or New Orleans would have, he says French words in most variations but none of them are words we actually say here.
But this variation of Gambit, oh he is amazing, he has a proper Cajun accent which I was worried about when I saw Channing Tatum but he nailed it, it's spot on sounds like my family members and friends. They forwent his usual French words that no one here says for actual proper Cajun words we commonly use here in Louisiana the whole theater was going nuts. When he said sha (no one uses cher or mon cher / cheri everyone uses "sha" , " oh sha" or "mah sha" ) instead of cher or cheri you had people clapping and laughing with joy , he called someone a couyon (fool/ idiot in French commonly used even with monolingual english speakers here in louisiana) and everyone was loosing their minds.
I live in the part of Louisiana where Cajun accents, dialect and French are most prevalent in the state and everyone was so happy with Gambit. I love how this variation came out , I think Channing did a terrific job and I hope that any other variations of Gambit in the future are more like this one.

someone probably said this already but in spiderverse i think it's interesting how when pavitr was first introduced everyone thought something bad was gonna happen to him bc of how confident and optimistic he was. and then in the actual movie we see that something bad was supposed to happen to him (police chief dying!) but it doesn't! miles stops it! and miguel berates miles for this, says it's going to cause the universe to collapse or whatever.
there's this idea that tragedy is inherent to spidermans growth, and while it's true that some spiderpeople learn important lessons through loss, no one stops to ask, is it really necessary? yeah, maybe the chief was supposed to die. but why does spiderman have to be formed through tragedy? why do we (as heroes) have to let people die? pavitr didn't lose anyone, and he's still a good spiderman! maybe, if he doesn't suffer, he'll end up better off for it!
so while miguel is arguing for all this big picture stuff about saving the multiverse he's lost sight of what it really means to be a spiderman, he's not looking out for the real individual people. yeah it's just one person who would die, but that one person means something to someone. shrugging and saying "stuff just sucks sometimes, we can't do anything about it" is the opposite of what superheroes do. pretty obviously, miles arc is also a reflection of the struggles people face in real life, working within unequal systems, where it's easy to shrug and say "that's just the way it is" and not ask "but why does it need be this way? can't we do something about it?"
miguel is arguing that you can't have your cake and eat it too. presumably, miles and co. are going to find a way to get around that and change things for the better (and maybe that's why miles has that line about two cakes in the advisors office!)

Really fucked up that, when they’re young, Patrick and Art are SO tactile with each other, so comfortable sharing the same space. Art lets Patrick touch him and move him and physically overwhelm him and easily acquiesces to it, if not outright enjoys it.
Then in the present, they’ve been so far out of each other’s orbit for so long, held such animosity that when they have their moment alone in the sauna, Art physically recoils from Patrick’s close proximity! It’s so painful to watch because even as Patrick’s goading him, it’s so obvious he wants to be able to get back into Art’s space. But Art has erected all these walls around himself, he refuses to give Patrick an inch or even admit to missing how close they used to be!
AND THEN we see Art and Tashi later and he wants her to hold him, to be gentle with him, and just TOUCH him. Like, he does miss that kind of close physical contact! He either doesn’t know how to ask for it or is uncomfortable being that openly vulnerable. Worth noting that he pretty much always defers to Tashi in regard to initiating physical intimacy (with their first kiss, though he does state his desire, SHE has to be the one to make the first move). And it seems pretty obvious that Tashi herself isn’t comfortable providing that intimacy, whereas Patrick actively seeks to provide it (the hug/forehead kiss after their win together in the early years, dragging the stool closer to him).
Art has tried very hard to act like he doesn’t need physical affection and even though his discipline and devotion to Tashi has made him a stronger tennis player, it’s made him a hollow person, which, in turn, has kept him from becoming a GREAT tennis player.
All of this, of course, is why the ending hits so damn hard.
