You, Nobara, Itadori, and Megumi were on a video call with one another via computers, working on a very long geometry packet that your professor had assigned the day before. You and Megumi were the only ones getting anywhere, but admittedly, it was mildly difficult for you to understand as well- so Nobara and Itadori were beyond lost.

“Me neither,” Itadori whined hopelessly, and you saw his head fall out of the camera frame as he dropped it on his desk forlornly. “I’m just gonna have to fail. I’m totally finished.”

You sighed exaggeratedly, rolling your eyes to the ceiling before looking back at the grainy images of the pitiful Itadori, the exasperated Nobara and the perpetually disinterested Megumi. “Oh, my god. Guys. Seriously, try and stay with me here?” You gestured to your notes spread out in front of the camera for your friends to reference. “An attempt at anything on this assignment would be nice.”

“Yeah, no, we’re past that point,” Nobara deadpanned. “Do these teachers get a kick out of torturing us or what?”

“No, they don’t,” Megumi answered swiftly, his voice somehow more apathetic-sounding over his microphone. “Now if you’d just listen to my or Y/N’s explanation instead of whining about how hard this is, I’d appreciate it. You both know the formula for the midpoint, right?”

Only feedback from either student’s mics. You resisted the urge to slap yourself in the forehead. Megumi, however, seemed unfazed.

“Right. It’s xm, ym equals x1 plus x2-“

“Are you trying to kill me?” Itadori finally sat up, pink hair tangled all over his head.

“I… didn’t even finish telling you what the formula is.”

“Um… nah.” Nobara waved a hand dismissively at the camera, and Megumi rolled his dark eyes. “Anyways, gonna go play in traffic. Anyone down to join me?”

You blinked and made a face at Nobara. “Wha- you’re not even giving it a chance?”

“Nope. My brain clocked out hours ago.”

You blew out some air and were about to say something else before you heard the door open behind you, and you noticed Gojo Satoru, your roommate, walk into the frame of your video. “Oh, hey, Gojo,” you greeted him, a little absently.

“Hey, Y/N! On a call?” He leaned way down over your shoulder, prompting you to grimace and move to the side some while he shoved his entire face into the camera. “Hi, guys! What’re you doing?”

Itadori lifted his head from his arms to reply in an agonized tone, “Dying,” before dropping back down with an alarmingly loud thud on his desk.

Megumi pursed his lips in annoyance before acknowledging Gojo. “We’re trying to finish some math homework. Unfortunately, Y/N and I are the only ones putting in an ounce of effort.”

“I refuse to waste my effort on this bullshit,” Nobara added nonchalantly, and you saw her fly in and out of the frame on her swivel chair.

“Yeah, okay, Nobara. I suppose this is pretty self-explanatory,” you sighed, limply gesturing to your computer screen. “We’re getting nowhere and it’s been like, two hours.”

Gojo smirked in amusement before backing up from your screen. “Sucks to suck. See ya!” And with that, he disappeared to the back of the dorm.

“Well, that was a waste of time,” you muttered, propping your forehead up on your fingers. “Maybe we should just-“

And then you heard it.

A muffled but not muffled enough sound from the bathroom- and a very explicit one at that. It was a long, continuous sound at first, and then it was a breathless series of the same noise. Your eyes flew wide open the second you heard it- mostly because it sounded so forced and fake that you knew exactly what the cause of it was. Unfortunately, you reacted too late, and you only realized it when the video call went dead silent.

Nobara had reappeared in front of the camera, her eyes the size of frying pans and a manicured hand cupped over her mouth. Itadori had his head lifted from his arms only so you could see his wide eyes, and Megumi looked way more annoyed than usual.

Meanwhile, your jaw was dropped and a furious blush spread across your cheeks, and as if expecting to see something horrible, you slowly turned your head to stare at the direction from which the sound had come from.

It was silent for a second before explosive laughter erupted from your dorm bathroom, undoubtedly from Gojo, who thought his little joke had been absolutely hilarious. You abruptly snapped out of your trance, yelling furiously at him, but his laughter only grew louder with every word you said.

“I am logging off right this second.” Megumi’s image vanished from the screen with a low notification sound, and Itadori started laughing as well while Nobara was still in the exact same stance as she had been before.

“Tell me he’s faking.” Nobara’s voice was muted behind her hand.

“Fuck. He is. I swear he is,” you replied hurriedly, eyes darting from the door to the bathroom in hopes that nobody else had just heard that obnoxiously loud fake moan. “Gojo! Are you fucking kidding? What the hell- okay, no way we can save this video call, guys.” You dropped your head into your palms, shaking it slowly in disgust. All you’d wanted to do was work on the damn math homework. “Really. Just hang up or something- while I kill Gojo.”

I have one tattoo but would like to get more! The one I have already is of the Outsider's Mark from the game Dishonored and its on the back of my shoulder. I would have gotten it on the back of ym hand like in the game, but I knew that would wear out pretty fast (and I also wasn't wanting something too painful for my first tattoo). I would like to get other ones, but because of reasons it might never happen.

I guess it depends what kind of mutual? If you mean the kind of mutual that I would politely nod at if we passed by in the street, then that really just happens by chance. I see a blog I like and follow them. Maybe they follow me back or were already following me 🤷‍♂️ If you mean the kind of mutual I cook blorbos with and bark at each other at all hours over blorbo thoughts then that isn't something that would happen through Tumblr alone I don't think. The mutuals I play pass the brain cell with are people I've had relatively frequent conversations with on discord so we know we just kind of click. I'm very bad at conversation (especially with new people) though so it can take a while for me to settle into frequent talking with someone 😅

I wish I'd been surrounded by better people when I was younger. I've dealt with a lot of failure from the various adults in my life, and now that I'm an adult myself I'm having to fix all that and pick up the slack. I like to think there's another version of me in some alternate timeline that got to pursue the things they love and know themself much sooner than where I'm at now. Maybe they'd be completely different. Or maybe they'd be the same. It's just something I think about. (I really tried to think of a less depressing answer to this one but I am really just a melancholic sort of person through and through 😂)

🦴 ⇢ is there a piece of media that inspires your writing? 

Just...just one?? I can find inspiration from almost anything if its something that resonates with me. Music, video games, movies, books... But I suppose something I always come back to is fairy tales (and also fae creatures themselves). It's just something I grew up with and I have spent a lot of time being obssessed with the mythology and lore of them.

It's a very situational kind of thing. Generally I hate surprises that mean a change of plans or things being sprung on me out of nowhere. But small things like someone saying "I got you X thing because it reminded me of you/because I know you like it" is always nice. Like I cried on my last birthday because my dad sent me flowers and I wasn't expecting anything 😂

Isn't Chelsea's big spending illegal in some way? Won't they be investigated?

Well the problem is it’s not illegal per se, because they managed to exploit the lacuna in the existing Financial Fair Play Rules (FFP). They found a loophole, where by signing players in long-term contracts, this would spread the cost over the agreed period (also known as, amortization). e.g. if you sign player X for £Ym for a Z-year contract, then the Y cost will be divided by the Z years, making it seem like the club is now spending less in a year. And Chelsea signed many players in such long-term contracts - most of them are like above 5 years.

FFP calculates profit of selling players straightaway, which means all sales profits are taken immediately. Then, by using the above loophole, they can reduce purchase costs, i.e. the finances balanced out and they somehow managed to stay within the FFP Rules. As it seems like they didn’t breach anything, idt we will see any punishments from UEFA on this matter - be it a reprimand, fine, points deduction, etc. Unless they do actually find some sort of breach.

Apparently, UEFA is planning to prevent such bypass from being used by setting a 5-year limit after many clubs have expressed their concerns over Chelsea's spending. Previously the UEFA rules did only allow a 5-year limit but it was subject to the laws of a country too - and in the UK, there are no restrictions (from what i’m aware of). So, most likely this new rule would affect future signings. Idt Chelsea’s current signings will be affected, as it is reported that new rule is to be implemented by the next transfer window.

Idk what Chelsea’s planning to do tbh by signing so many players when the PL has a 25-player squad limit. (if i’m not mistaken, Chelsea’s at like 33 players rn or sth?) Some player’s talents may go unused tbh :(

Nasal vowels - [ɑ̃], [ɛ̃], [ɔ̃], [œ̃] - are the hardest part of French pronunciation. They are made of a vowel and a consonant but are nasal exclusively when the following letter is another consonant or if the consonant is the final letter of the word.

[ɑ̃]: an, am, en, em, aon

[ɛ̃]: in, im, yn, ym, ain, aim, ein, (i)en, (é)en

[ɔ̃]: on, om

[œ̃]: un, um

For example, the On in Bonjour (\bɔ̃.ʒuʁ\) is nasal because it's followed by a consonant (just like the On in Bon because it's the end of the word). When you pronounce it, you don't want to treat the O and the N as different elements, they're a couple and have to stay together. That is why, when someone says Bonjour, you don't hear "Bo-nnn-jour". If I can hear the letters separately, you're doing it wrong.

A few months ago, I made a horrible post about the inin situation: when followed by a consonant, inin will first be pronounced phonetically then nasally: Inintéressant is pronounced Inn-1-téressant and will make you feel like a fool.

Let's play with phonetics (here's the post for reference): those container-shaped drawings represent the human mouth: the left is the lips and teeth side and the right the back of the throat. If you pronounce the letter i (ee in English), you can tell it comes from the front of your mouth. If you pronounce o, we are in the back. Try saying ee-oo-ee-oo and feel the difference.

okay, it’s over :) 

first thoughts out of the way: not a big fan of this special. it’s like watching a completely different show. it’s not got the PZSHAHH of the normal wizard city stuff and there weren’t a lot of funny jokes or even hearty moments in the thing. 

it suffers from a lack of invested character interactions, much like BMO did. there was not a single main cast member in the whole thing! and like i said before, much of peppermint butler’s character in the show is based on his very sweet relationship to his mother, princess bubblegum, so when they showed a single (hilarious) photo of them together it made me sad we didn’t get any scenes with them together. it would have STOLEN this episode. and they teased the hunson golf photo, and death!!! and jake appeared in a photo T_T last jake appearance. 

it also suffers because Peppermint Butler is clearly not himself, imo he was way more entertaining in the Together Again special, where we seem him back to his “normal” self. 

i dont think peps being a dark wizard was something to “kill off” exactly. i wonder what was going on there? was that actually peps, or was that a spirit he cursed himself with based on himself? we at least know in the future he does become a dark wizard again, and even princess :) this special didn’t answer those questions but lol. 

THE GOOD STUFF, because yes, there was a lot of good stuff! 

God, I’m with Aracle and Maya on this - I LOVE Cadebra and her relationship to Pep. I wish she was even in more of this - I would love to watch the adventures of Cadebra and Pepbut in their first year of school, like in the end credits.

That, imo, is where the heart of the special lay - Peppermint Butler’s attempts to impress himself, versus Cadebra’s self acceptance and desire to follow her dreams of being a goofy goober, no matter what other people thought of her. 

It turned out that Cadebra is a responsible student and family member. I really liked that. Her scenes with Abracadaniel were, somehow, my favourite in the entire special! 

I like that theres a lot of cool magic towards the end of this special, and a lot of HORRIFYING DEATH. It wouldn’t be adventure time if you didn’t randomly kill off child characters. Poor Spader, I hated you but damn, what a grim fate. 

I like that Bufo and Caledonius had this crush/hatred thing going on, but they were part of the same cult in the end. 

I didn’t like the giant peps scene at the end, the monster was extremely milquetoast compared to the madness we usually get in AT. Obsidian, for example, had the awesome Larvo design. Nemesis had some INSANE dark magic!!!!  I wish they drew more from that episode. 

Considering how much Steve Little appears in this special, I do feel bad for Mace (little Peps). He said he would have really benefitted from coaching, but recieved none. He had to re-record his lines 3 times! Judging from his description of events, Wizard City was a hard time for him. 

The wizard school did remind me, heavily, of both The Owl House and OK KO. Personally I was hoping AT would offer me something more insane, but I do love both of those shows, and I know Wizard City was on a really tight schedule. 

I think they should have spent less time on the school bullying plot, and skipped straight to MURDER. 

We did have a cold opening, not on par with Together Again’s at all, but damn!

I am wondering where I would put this in the watch list? I do think it should sit after Obsidian as the third special. The intro scene makes it clear this takes place at the same time as Obsidian!!!

Well, that was it, the last ep of AT for the next few years at least T_T

i think together again was the better finale, definitely. but wizard city feels pretty detached from AT for me, despite the familiar characters it tonally isn’t like the show other than the awesome brutal death scenes. I thought the last 11 minutes was easily the best in the special! Which, honestly, is how it should be, though I do wish it gripped me more. Maybe I’m just not the target audience for Wizard City? It feels like something I would find very compelling if I was a bit younger!

The Speak Now Tour ends March 18, 2012 and right after it seems like Swiftgron is inseparable.  I think mid March is the official beginning to their relationship though it’s possible they had been in touch on and off since 2010 and it’s also possible that they started a long distance flirtation in the fall of 2011 (or perhaps at the end of February 2012 given Dianna starts hanging out with Taylor’s friends while she’s back on tour - but Taylor hasn’t followed Dianna on Twitter yet) but all I know for sure is they hang out constantly starting at the end of March 2012.

March 25, 2012 - Hunger Games Movie Date

The first Swiftgron solo hang that we know of Dianna and Taylor go to see The Hunger Games - Taylor had two songs on the movie soundtrack!  There’s no press there to see them so it really does appear they just went to catch the film together.  Dianna tweets about it but doesn’t mention Taylor but some fans take a picture of them so we know they were there together.

Jimmy decides to get cute and brings up the “love triangle” between Dianna, Taylor, and Tim Tebow.  When she denies anything is going on with Tim he asks her if she’s dating Taylor. Dianna says “Noooo!” in what appears to be a brief split instance of surprise and panic but recovers smoothly and plays it off as a joke.  She quips, “Wouldn’t that be juicy?”  and turns to the camera to blow a kiss before saying, “Hi Taylor.”

Conclusion - Swiftgron is now traveling together.  Dianna and Taylor’s friend groups have completely meshed.  Taylor appears to go to New York simply to accompany Dianna since Taylor had no work related reason to be in the city that we know of.

The “I guess you’re in New York today” part of Come Back... Be Here (to be written later this spring) may be inspired by the period time where Taylor had to leave New York to work on Red while Dianna had to stay in NYC for work.

Sir Gawain and the Green Knight is a poem in which a game is played, and nobody wins. Challenged to a game of beheading and armed with his opponent’s battle-axe, Sir Gawain cuts the head from the Green Knight’s body with a single swing of the weapon—but the Green Knight does not die. He cannot be killed, because he is not truly a man; rather, he is the physical embodiment of Gawain’s repressed desires, and the beheading game is a desperate attempt at conquering his sexuality.

A valiant and noble man is defined by his prowess and ability in both bloody battle and friendly contest. Surrounded by the great knights of the Round Table, the best way Sir Gawain knows how to vanquish his foes is with a weapon. While he may not be confident in his own strength, referring to himself as “the weakest of [the knights] …and the dullest-minded” (line 354), he accepts the Green Knight’s challenge in place of his king. Martin Stevens, in his paper Laughter and Game in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, explains that humans attempt to reflect the “irrational patterns of social reality by imaginative and sometimes distorted recreations” so that we may “pretend to govern the ungovernable” (66). It is a controlled environment in which the metaphysical is made tangible, however briefly. In a realistic setting and given that both parties are able-bodied and capable with a bladed weapon, there is only one outcome to the beheading game; the one to deliver the first blow is the winner. This logic is defied in The Green Knight, as the emerald man survives being headless and tells Gawain he awaits his turn in one year. The rule of this game is a simple and honest trade of blows, but the Green Knight cheats at the very thing they are playing—death. He is dishonest with Sir Gawain of his indomitability, and so Sir Gawain is supposedly destined to lose upon their second meeting.

A game is made up of several factors, and there are many definitions to what a game is in its essence. I believe that a game has three features that must be present for it to be considered such: it must have a set of rules that all parties are aware of; it must be that the outcome is unpredictable; and lastly, it must be enjoyable. The beheading game is resistant to all of these features. The Green Knight withheld the fact of his impervious existence, the game itself is predictable in that the first person to accept a blade to the neck would, under normal circumstances, surely die, and it is certainly not fun to play. As Stevens puts it, a game is an escape from reality to a controlled unreality, but one that is not meant to cause death. In various films and novels, the word “game” is deliberately attributed to something entirely different, most of which have violent ends—think Jigsaw’s twisted puzzles in the Saw franchise, or being sucked into the board game world of Jumanji. So then, when is a game not a game? When the challenger is not a player, and when the challenger cannot lose. The Green Knight embodies both states, for he is not a real man, and therefore cannot lose. He is Sir Gawain’s repressed desires come to life, in the form of a challenger in a “game” in which he cannot be defeated.

dr popularity: still absolutely baffles me. second game i understand a LITTLE bc it almost has some really cool concepts and then either tosses them out the window bc it refuses to consistently think about its characters OR just doesn't think about them enough. that said, the fact that dr2 exists in the first place makes me so ????? because dr1 has the worst fucking mystery i've ever experienced in a video game. and like, yeah, i went into it knowing the mastermind and every spoiler under the sun, you could say 'of course it's going to be boring,' but the thing is if something is a good mystery story IT IS STILL ENGAGING EVEN IF YOU KNOW THE OUTCOME. fucking 999 is a GREAT mystery story even on your 3rd playthrough like. cmon. k0daka i know you hate detective stories but you could at least make your story MILDLY not insulting to your audience's intelligence

In JP this weapon’s name is "レラカムトルム Remu-kamu-torumu", a euphonic mouthful which he forgot at the time, so he just named it mumbo jumbo which sounded close enough… The start of an unforgettable word among fans.

● ‘We came by bike’ チャリで来た A meme originating from a snap of 4 middle school dudes in a photo booth. In which they’re seen posing all macho yet the caption is so unexpected! So the phrase took off: people in photo booths were using it themselves, people were having their own takes on it, and chaos ensued. Let it be known that one of the men in the photo took the meme antics quite harshly and felt bullied though.. So tread softly please..

Welcome to Yours, Mime, and Ours– the newest mime-themed restaurant on this side of the dimension. New to White Crest, YM&O (as it is referred to by the regulars) has already garnered quite the following (or maybe just attention) since it mysteriously appeared overnight. Hokey theme aside, their French cuisine is widely praised, and it’s a great place to bring the whole family. After all, what kids don’t adore mimes?

All communication between the waiter and diners has to be done in pantomime (ASL is also an option). If you can’t work out how to signal a certain order, point to it on the menu and the waiter will show you, but then you’ll have to mime it back before they’ll take your order.  

The staff wear black and white stripes and the beret that’s so often associated with cartoon mimes.

The place is very popular with children, who get to watch their parents doing absurd things in the name of getting food.

The restaurant plays a vaguely French-sounding song on loop, but since the song is 14 minutes long, it’s hard to tell when it ends and when the next play begins. On Friday nights they advertise having “live music,” but it’s really just a mime pretending to play along with this one song… repeatedly.

There’s a playground in front of the restaurant with a ball pit and kid proof climbing frame attached for parents to let their children loose in.

This thing wanders the alley behind the restaurant on stormy nights. No one is sure if it’s human or not, and no one wants to get close enough to find out.

He was gasping harshly, subconsciously covering his own neck and feeling that cursed shackle. A touch, and other than the cursed shackle, Xie Lian also felt something else.

It was a very thin, silver chain. It used to be cold, but because he’s worn it for so long, his body had already warmed it through. Hanging on the silver chain was a crystal clear ring.

After having felt it, Xie Lian’s shoulders immediately stiffened, and he gripped that ring tight. For some reason, his heart was pounding faster and faster, as if he had learned an incredible secret.

After two incense time later, before the Great Martial Hall, several figures finally appeared. They saw a lady cultivator in verdant robes riding a burly black ox, a sacred sword hanging on her waist, approaching languidly with several farmers following behind, each varying in sizes.

Hua Cheng hadn’t even walked over before Xie Lian had already forcefully glomped over.

This was a powerful glomp, and Hua Cheng actually wasn’t pushed back for a few steps by the force, not even a wobble. He only placed his hands on Xie Lian’s back, chuckling lightly without speaking.

As they went, Hua Cheng’s vambraces shimmered silver, transforming into silver butterflies, and they gradually lost colour, hiding into the air. There were probably hundreds of thousands of wraith butterflies by now that were dispersed throughout the Heavenly Capital. Along the way, they’d suddenly go up or go down, abruptly hide or appear, perfectly dodging every patrolling guard.

A short while later, Xie Lian dropped onto the edge of an eave and abruptly stopped, looking back at Hua Cheng seeming to be pensive. Seeing him stilled, Hua Cheng also stopped, “What is it? Have you noticed something?” 

Xie Lian frowned slightly and nodded, and said pensively, “No. It’s just, it feels like this scene had played somewhere else before…”

Hua Cheng’s right hand was holding his left elbow while his left hand supported his chin, and he looked at Xie Lian, seeming to be thinking very seriously for a moment before he said, “Then, ge ge, my order is--”

A moment later came the anticipated command. Hua Cheng smiled happily, “--Let’s borrow some spiritual powers.” 

Of course Xie Lian understood what he meant by “Borrow spiritual powers” and his head almost smoked. He quickly took off the robe and said, “It’s, it’s not this one!” 

“Ah, what a shame. It’s not this one.” Hua Cheng lamented.

Xie Lian schooled his expression, “San Lang, you… this isn’t right. You have to be more serious, don’t give orders like these.” 

LKHSAKJAJFSA I can’t believe hc is using the brocade immortal to get his dose of kisses out of xl LMAOOOOO

Then, he handed Xie Lian another set of robes. Xie Lian swiftly put it on and looked up again at Hua Cheng. Hua Cheng watched him for a moment, “Ge ge…”

A short moment later, he smiled widely, “Don’t borrow spiritual powers from me.” 

“...”

He’s been careless! How could Hua Cheng do this!

Xie Lian hastily removed that robe, “OKAY! It’s not this one eith…” But Hua Cheng stopped him, “Wait, ge ge, who says it’s not this one? You haven’t proven it yet.” 

“Don’t borrow spiritual powers from me” was Hua Cheng’s order. If Xie Lian was to prove the robe he was wearing right now wasn’t the Brocade Immortal then he must not obey Hua Cheng’s order. Which meant, he had to do the opposite thing -- “Borrow spiritual powers from Hua Cheng”.

Going around in circles and they came back to the same starting point! Xie Lian was shaken while staring at Hua Cheng’s serious face, “...That’s, you’re too cunning, you can’t do that.”

Xie Lian didn’t know what to say to retaliate at all, and he raised his finger to point at him for a moment, “You... you, ah, I can’t win with you, stop playing around!” Then without any delay, he rushed up and “chu”-ed. Even though he knew there was clearly no one around, but after he’d done the deed he still looked around, as if cautious of anyone who might be peeping.

Jun Wu could establish a ward within the Heavenly Capital, isolating everyone within the ward from the outside world, then naturally Hua Cheng could also create an even smaller ward, sealing the spiritual powers of those within and prevent them from communicating spiritually. A small ward within a larger war, in this moment, this side chamber had become a chest within a chest.

oh goodness this scene , though playful ,really hurts knowing hc is referencing all the shit xl went through in book 4 including being stabbed 100 times but xl thinks he’s referring to something more recent and purely theoretical 😔😔 xl really has no clue he is wuming....

whew, that was a LOT to get through and i’m terribly depressed now but at least there was some cute moments with hualian being stronger together and sillier too 😔😔😔

Discontinued Character Alert

Carrotfox, also known as YM-RPER (she/her), was a character created around July of 2020. She was an all white fox with black markings. She had pure black eyes, with no pupils and no eye whites in them. She was also well known as my AJ classic outfit until I quit Classic. Here is an image for reference.

She was well known as my old Animal Jam main outfit, and was also known to be my Gmail profile picture from around mid-January 2021 to December 13th, 2021. Many dates were uncertain of her creation. She was a decent character. But not all characters come without flaws.

for one, her base was based off of a character, who turned out to be a fake in the end. Second off, the character is no longer usable by me as a main look due to restrictions not allowing me to play AJC, which really sucks because that is the only place where she would look accurate, other than in drawings, which even then don’t feel the same.

This retired OC will be up on my Toyhouse, but it’ll be less likely to trade her than to keep her.
