This is a callout to nobody in particular but people who blaze fandom drama posts are very interesting to me. What exactly prompted you to do this. Why did you think spending real life money so more people can see your petty infighting on tumbrl dot com is a good idea

about last reblog, that's the thing that bothers me when people say likes on this hellsite are useless. it's the idea that the only purpose for interaction is to gain visibility, go viral etc, when in truth gaining any traction on this site is honestly pretty useless unless you majorly break containment and even then it's dubious.
generally speaking, from what I've noticed, you gain numbers for either shitposts, dischorse, or information posts. shitposts are the best, because at most you just get funny tags or comments, but with the latter two you risk real chance of having the stupidest people on earth in your inbox telling you to kill yourself.
(well, I guess that's a risk with shitposts too, depending on the shit you post)
a like is a tool to tell the person making the post that you, well, liked their post. or just a little I noticed your post, buddy, but don't have the energy to comment. likes absolutely serve a function

I genuinely enjoy posts that offer the "your work is good even if it's not getting the traction you wish it had" platitude, and sometimes it really lifts my mood, but I also hate the way "just love your art, if you please just one person, you're doing enough, even if that person is you!" is just kind of... thrown around in a way that treats people lamenting not reaching audiences as a matter of self-doubt, personal insecurity, or feeling "not valid".
Like... I love my stories and my art and my OCs. I share them because I want other people to love them. I want to be able to give people something they can take and use. My art doesn't exist in isolation. I create it to be in conversation with the larger canon, the culture, other stories and audiences. If nobody sees it, nobody engages with it, etc. I can still love it, but it's also devastating because that means that art will never fulfill its purpose. It'll never live up to its potential because its true potential isn't just as something pretty to look at or something to entertain you but as a form of communication between artist and audience. Like, even beyond the capitalist concern of "if nobody buys my art, I will literally starve to death", I'm not sad when a piece fails to reach people because I'm just so full of self-loathing and insecurity that I can't believe my work has value if it's not being externally validated by the commercial masses. I'm just sad that that piece will never find a home with other people, that the part of my soul I put into this project will never be heard or understood by anyone but me. It's isolating and lonely.

Sometimes having a vore fetish sucks donkey dick because there’s no real way to enjoy it except for fantasizing and roleplaying.
I miss roleplaying so much, but people get so weird sometimes and my preferences hardly tend to align with other people’s (and because I’m feminine, they want me to be the pred 99% of the time, and… ugh).
I have no idea sometimes.

I'm tired but I think I'm also emotionally numb at this point since I already lived through the DeviantArt machine learning fiasco.
My two cents: this isn't going to fix the problem, but I do think that artists learning the basics of making a website(NOT using wix for the love of the gods, and probably not Squarespace, probably not even carrd) is probably our only way forward. Make a gallery however you want it to look, nightshade/glaze your work if you can, and 100% make sure to include a mailing list option. I promise you people will want to sign up, even if it's just that one super enthusiastic mutual.
The internet as we know it is collapsing, but maybe there's a chance we can get back some of the energy of the early days because of it.

Are you gonna maybe apologize for that poll? The one where you call hairy women “creatures,” and assume that people shave because of “brainwashing.”
The one where you slapped ✨trans inclusiveness UwU✨ onto it, without any consideration for WHY trans women might feel more pressured to shave. (Hint: its not the ‘brainwashing’)
no

God, if Tumblr goes down for real I don't even know where I'll go. Twitter is an active dumpster fire, Instagram and TikTok are algorithm-riddled nightmares, and it's just plain depressing trying to pick one of the hundreds of alternative sites that are vying for the userbases of these massive social media platforms that have been hyper-monetized into their death throes

Hey! When you place an order online, keep the final order page open until you get that confirmation email
If you need to close that tab, copy the content of the order info into your own email and send it to yourself.
If anything goes wrong, that info - especially the order number - is the best way to identify you placed the order. You can also reference it to check the email address you provided and the product you bought.
ESPECIALLY if you're in school and are using a school email account. School accounts can have very robust filters and protections, which means they might block that automated email with the receipt. And it's real easy to mistype your school email.
If you do email for help, please please include the email address and full name from the order. If your parent/spouse/friend bought it for you, then provide their name. If you entered a secondary email address, include that.

Tumblr media
Not to be afflicted with Average Artist Experience syndrome but I could be getting 4x as many hilarious comments on my Papyrus’ Boobs comic if more people reblogged it. Like, I absolutely love interacting with the fandom and getting to laugh with people (esp those who add on and are even funnier), but also the ratio of reblogs:likes is staggering.
And I know there’s the whole thing about how social media sites work vs how tumblr works, but like. Dang, dudes. Big Notes Post is rad but scrolling through funny tags/comments is radder.
