here's something I hate: when a narrative starts with a super original, interesting premise, and then completely abandons it do to do the Generic Expected stuff.

like Kaiju No. 8, it's about this guy who wanted to fight monsters accidentally becoming a monster. which, wow!!! I would watch that! but then it turns out he can regain his human body easily, and the monster body is more like a hollow sports mascot uniform he wears occasionally for Badass moments. and then the show is just him moving through the military-esque ranks of being a monster hunter, which like, the military/army/academy progression thing has been done so many times, and done better. why throw away the cool premise of 'not only will this guy never achieve his dreams, he is now the exact thing he hated' to focus on him being human doing human things, undiscovered, moisturized and thriving....

hey! as the first season of connor bedard gets underway i, your local indigenous hockey fan, have a request of you: please don't let this kid's sure to be marvellous and jaw-dropping rookie season make you complacent with the racism of the blackhawks as an organization. it is beyond heinous that they were able to secure the first overall pick this year for a number of reasons i'm sure we're all familiar with, but i am pleading with the hockey community not to let the racism of this org fall through the cracks.

they drafted connor bedard and handed him a jersey with a giant racist caricature on the front. their mascot is named tommy hawk. they continuously fail to curtail their fans' egregious displays of anti-indigenous racism at games.

i'm not going to ask anyone not to post about bedard. i know he's huge news and i'm bummed as all hell that i won't be able to enjoy the beginning of what is sure to be an incredible career myself. but i am asking, given that his presence on the team is likely to increase the prevalence of people making and reblogging posts about the blackhawks, that you please care, loudly and actively, about the racism of this organization and how much it hurts indigenous fans to see that go unquestioned so often.

consider mentioning it in posts. consider amplifying the voices of indigenous fans and community members about the issues of these types of sports organizations. consider reading up on the history of the person they claim to 'honour' with their hideous effigy of a logo. consider censoring the logo in your posts if you are able to (please do this if you are able to). consider tagging posts so that indigenous fans are at the very least able to blacklist that team and not have to see it.

above all, please just. don't forget about it. don't forget about us. we belong here too.

hey i just wanted to let you know that that post you reblogged recently about roe v wade being overturned really hit me hard (in a good way.) it sucks to say but i don't think i'm ever gonna forget that when it happened, trans communities i was a part of (both online and "offline") were saying that, "yeah this sucks and all, but trans men and transmascs should really stop talking about this because it's triggering trans women and transfems by reminding them they can't get pregnant, and besides you're like, men now, so you should sit down and let the women talk about this, cis or trans." i honestly felt like i was losing it. i don't think i'm ever gonna forget how hopeless and silenced i felt. and i've never seen anyone talk about similar stuff until now so it's really important to me. idk. thanks for speaking up about stuff and uplifting other people speaking about stuff that i've grown too pessimistic to bring up.

That's so fricking awful. I saw someone a YouTube comment the other day something like "trans men pre transition can get pregnant" like they forget there's a middle part to transition, or that not everyone can get bottom surgery or even want it.

It's always pre transition IE "girl" (person who can talk about reproductive oppression)and post transition IE "real man with cock and balls" there's no in-between. That is used against trans men all the times, they're either stupid little girls or dangerous predatory men invading women's spaces and that's what's happened here.

Trans men existing is a threat to feminism in their eyes. That's just a fact. They can't fathom that a man could experience the same reproductive violence and oppression that they experience, because it terrifies them. Trans people can also hold this idea because of transradicalfeminism.
