Aftermath - 7x09 Coda
Knock. Knock.
Tommy looked towards Evan. They had started the evening by cooking together, but after dinner, they had put on a movie. Evan had actually seen very few movies and Tommy was doing his best to rectify that especially since Tommy was a bit of a sucker for rom coms. You’ve Got Mail was on the screen and they weren’t even far in.
Knock. Knock.
Evan groaned.
“Are you expecting anyone?” Tommy asked as they detangled themselves from each other.
Evan shook his head, pressing pause on the remote. Tommy followed him to the door.
Christopher stood on the other side. He looked awful. Eyes red, glasses askew, and lips turned down. He looked nothing like the kid that Tommy had last seen in Howie’s hospital room.
At first, Tommy was worried that Christopher had somehow gotten there on his own,  but just a bit behind him was Marisol. She didn’t look all that great either.
“He wanted to come here,” Marisol said. Her voice was weak and small. “Least I could do.”
Christopher didn’t even wait to be invited in, he just walked past Evan, barely glanced at him or Tommy. Tommy caught Evan’s eye and Evan gave a nod, so Tommy followed Christopher inside. He heard Evan talking to Marisol, but not all the words or even what she said back.
Christopher had settled himself into Evan’s couch. He looked small, shoulders hunched over and his arms crossed.
“Hey,” Tommy said gently. “Are you okay?”
Christopher shook his head. No words.
“Do you need anything? A drink? Food? Blanket?”
No response.
Tommy wasn’t used to kids. The one time he’d met Chris before that time at the hospital, it had been at Eddie’s house and Christopher had led that conversation by being interested in Tommy being a pilot and asking a bunch of questions.
“Look, I don’t know what happened or why you’re here. I don’t need to know. But you’re safe here, okay?”
At that he got a nod.
“Is it okay if I leave you here on your own for a few minutes?”
Another nod.
Evan was still at the door. He joined him and found Marisol still standing at the other side. She’d started to cry, big tears that rolled down her cheeks and that she was angrily wiping away. Her arms were wrapped around her middle.
“I’m sorry,” she said, a sob breaking through.
“You have nothing to be sorry for,” Evan said. “You didn’t do anything wrong. Do you want to come in? You shouldn’t be driving. Eddie would—”
She made a noise at Eddie’s name and Tommy winced.
“Sorry,” Evan said, hand reaching out to Marisol except she stepped back.
“Did you know?” she asked.
Tommy could see Evan’s indecision. He could see how he shifted his weight as he gave a small nod.
“I confronted him about it a few days ago,” Evan said. “Right after I found out.”
“She looks like his dead wife,” Marisol said and it came out strangled.
“I know,” Evan said.
She rubbed at her eyes. “How could — no…no, I can’t deal with this right now. Take care of Christopher.”
Tommy jumped forward. “Hey, I can drive you if you—”
She shook her head. “My brother’s picking me up. He should be here soon.”
Marisol looked like she wanted to say something else, but she shook her head and then turned and left. They were left watching her go.
“Chris?” Evan asked.
“Is okay. Upset, but okay,” Tommy said. “Did everything blow up on Eddie?”
“You could say that,” Evan said. “Marisol said they walked in and the doppelganger and Eddie were there. Chris thought it was his mom.”
Tommy felt his heart break. He could never fully understand Eddie’s grief — hoped he never would. When Evan had told him about Kim he hadn’t known how to react because it was just so out there and messy and insane. But to have it affect Christopher…well, that was something that Tommy could understand. His parents had disappointed him enough…he knew that disconnect between loving someone and feeling completely betrayed.
“What now?” Tommy asked.
“Well, first I’ll need you to text Eddie that Chris is here and that he’s staying the night.” Evan smiled a tight sad smile. “Next we give him somewhere to feel safe until he’s ready to talk to his dad.”
“Of course he feels safe,” Tommy said. “He came to you.”
Tommy pulled Evan into his arms and he felt Evan sigh against him, his arms coming around Tommy as well. He pulled back too soon, but with a new found determination and Tommy could only watch as his boyfriend headed towards Christopher and despite everything, he was warmed when Christopher wrapped his arms around Evan’s waist, head buried on Evan’s chest.

What d’you think is the “best” trait the main bau team members have?
OH I love this question thank you so much. There’s a lot so bear with me
Hotch: his compassion for his team. He’s an extremely compassionate and empathetic leader, constantly allowing for his team to leave work if they need to and following them on their hunches, even if they seem unlikely, purely because he loves and respects each of them. Quite often Hotch is portrayed as stone faced but I’ve honestly never seen a male leading character be so openly loving to their team.
Gideon: how much he cares for the victims in his cases. Gideon is often characterised as being a bit clueless to the feelings of his team, yet he never is to the people he is trying to save because he puts his everything into it. He has always been so open and accepting in cases which was rare for a 51 year old man in 2005; he was very willing to let go of his old ways and what he used to know so that he could evolve with the changes in society in order to best help the people he was saving. We also got to see his book of the people he saved. It was amazing.
Rossi: his ability to read and help the people on the team when no one else does. I wholeheartedly believe that if Rossi was present during the Hankel case, Reid would not have gone through his addiction alone. Rossi is always the one to call out people who try to hide their problems and he puts in so much effort to help them, even using his hours outside of work to do so. We see him waking up early to help Hotch coach Jack’s football matches, him inviting Penelope over for scotch so that she can finally disconnect from technology and him hosting the cooking class, the wedding and Strauss’ funeral dinner ar his house. His character development from being weary about the team to adoring them all individually was amazing.
Reid: I love how despite him admitting that he has trouble with emotions, he is always the one doing everything he can to be an emotional support when people around him are struggling. We see him try and comfort Elle when everyone else disconnected from her, he stayed with Garcia the entire time when she was shot, he is the one to call Emily to ask if she wants to hang out when she started disconnecting due to the Doyle situation, he is the one to try and help JJ with her PTSD in season 10 and so on. He doesn’t like the idea of the people around him going through things alone despite the fact that he often tries to go through things alone and he is extremely selfless in this sense.
JJ: I am constantly inspired by how throughout the show, she is repeatedly putting in effort to try and improve herself as a person and as an agent. We never see her get cocky, even when she deserves to be like she was in the FBI from a very young age, she had one of the most challenging jobs as the press liaison and then she was able to work herself up to profiler where she was one of the most formidable people on the field. Despite how impressive she really is, the audience are never given a chance to consider it because she never boasts about it and instead spends everyday striving to be better.
Morgan: he is always willing to take on a leadership role when he has to, yet he is always willing to give it back to Hotch when he doesn’t need to take it on anymore. I’m not just referring to season 5 either, I’m talking about any time when Hotch is unable to take on his role. Morgan respects Hotch a lot and is always willing to support him by taking on the role of team leader when Hotch can’t anymore, yet he never tries to take the role permanently for himself, despite being told he could by Strauss. Despite his years of experience and his leadership skills, he is willing to give up the role because he sees it as what is best for the team and he respects Hotch too much to keep it.
Elle: her protection of women. Elle was, in my opinion, ahead of her time. She previously worked in the sex crimes division and in season 1, she was the only female profiler and she did not step away from her previous role as an advocate for women in sex crimes just so she could better ‘fit in with the men’ of the BAU; she instead brought her perspective with her and implemented it in her cases. She was the only one in episode 3 to look at the woman who was assaulted and realise how uncomfortable she must have been surrounded by men. She ended her career in the BAU fighting for women and it hurts me that the BAU lost her.
Garcia: she never, ever stops being herself, even when people question her or bring her down for it. Sadly, because Garcia is the brightest person in the room, she is quite often the one who the profilers take their frustrations out on; we have seen JJ, Morgan, Hotch, Rossi and Emily all do this. Despite this, she doesn’t waver, she doesn’t stop being the brightest person in the room just because someone is simply not in the mood for her to be because she knows that she does not need to apologise for simply existing as her authentic self. In the episode The Black Queen, 9x12, her ex tells her that they both used to make fun of girls like her, and she corrects him saying that he made fun of girls like her, this was who she always wanted to be. This is so empowering to me.
Prentiss: my love, she was so unbelievably loyal to those around her and this was clear from the beginning. She was the only one to question Reid’s suffering in season 2, she literally uprooted her life and faked her death so that her team’s lives could be protected in season 6. When she found out JJ was in danger in season 9, she was so quick to jump on a plane back to help her. When the team calls for favours whilst she is in London, she always answers to help them. When Reid got arrested and imprisoned in season 12, she didn’t once believe that he committed the crime of which he was accused and even risked her entire career tampering with possible evidence so that it couldn’t be used against him. She is loyal to a fault and so many don’t acknowledge that.
Todd: we only got Todd for 9 episodes but I loved how human she was. She was the first character to make the audience realise that none of what we were looking at was normal. By season 4, the audience became very desensitised to the crimes that we were looking at and Todd broke us out of that and she also was not afraid to call out the fact that it wasn’t normal that the profilers were desensitised either. I respect how in the end she would rather admit that she couldn’t do the job anymore than lose that human side of her. I also loved how she made sure Hotch never took JJ for granted.
Seaver: we never got to see much of Seaver’s development because of the writers, but I loved her willingness to learn. Seaver hadn’t even graduated from the academy when she joined the team, she was not a profiler, she wasn’t even a qualified FBI agent. Watching her learn and grow in such a traumatising field and take it all in her stride was so incredibly interesting to watch. I also loved watching her friendship grow with the team; going to the cinema with Reid, Morgan and Garcia, gaming night with Rossi and going out for curry with Reid.
Blake: Blake was so incredibly talented and so unbelievably smart but instead of using it as a way to get ahead of her team, she used it as a way to relate to them and bond with them. She almost became a protective figure over them and she took that role very seriously too. It was honestly amazing watching her mind work and how easily she was able to take on her role as a profiler because of it. I know I just named multiple good qualities but it is incredible to me how much her character was able to grow and be adored in just two seasons, she had no idea what dynamic she was getting into when she joined the team yet she fit in perfectly and adapted to it so quickly in order to help them and gain their trust.
Callahan: her confidence. She went into that bullpen being unapologetically herself from the beginning and she fit herself into that team without an ounce of apprehension. She made so much effort to establish herself and she was not shy about it which I adored; she had banter with Rossi, she opened up to Reid, she carpooled with JJ, she became a close friend for Garcia and she gained Morgan’s trust all within a few episodes; the last two being hard to do as a new member of the team. I love how she didn’t question where she belonged, she knew she belonged.
Simmons: to me, Simmons was just so incredibly sweet. When he first joined and I saw that he was buff and conventionally attractive, I was weary that he was just going to be another jock detective that we see in other shows, but he wasn’t. He, again, was an incredibly strong and skilled agent yet when he arrived on the team he took everyone for who they were and never once acted like he was in any way better than them because he had skills that they did not have. He was just a nice person and that may sound like a basic description but to me, it’s the best description to give a person. I felt genuinely safe with Matt’s character on the screen because it was just lovely to see a man on the screen who was just good.
Lewis: OH I love this woman. Tara brought a new element of self assurance to the screen and also humour. She, again, was very unapologetically herself and she knew her worth, as we saw when she went through her breakup, which was so refreshing to see because it is rare you see a woman know her value and not be portrayed as cocky for doing so. She is also a character that marked her place on the team and I also love how unafraid she was to come out and say that she was dating a woman, which was a risk in itself because the BAU had never had an openly LGBTQ+ profiler before. I also loved how she brought ‘your mum’ jokes to the show because watching a 50 year old woman with a doctorate make multiple ‘your mum’ jokes is all I needed from the show if I’m honest.
Alvez: I don’t want to repeat things too much but I also love Luke’s loyalty, which is something we also saw from very early on in his time in the show. Bear in mind when Reid was in prison, Luke was only on the team for a very short period of time, yet he believed wholeheartedly that Reid was innocent and even made threats for his safety. I also love how he took Garcia’s original dislike of him in his stride and honestly embraced everything about her, whether it was her distrust in him or her ‘quirkiness’ as the team would dub it, he took it all in and loved her because of it all, not in spite of it.

loved reading ur tom king tea so how abt ☕️ tom taylor
I think this post I reblogged a little while back said it really well, especially "He writes comics to go viral on Twitter."
My main problem with Taylor is that his writing is fluff with absolutely zero substance, and I feel like this has two major consequences. First, there's this weird disconnect between stakes, competence, and victory. All of his heroes are wildly incompetent, so he sets up these huge stakes and then has them resolved by other people, or dumb luck, or just...pretending the stakes don't exist? So now not only are the heroes incompetent, the story is unsatisfying because the victory doesn't feel earned - because his goal is a cutesy viral moment that gets passed around the internet out of context, not satisfying storytelling.
For a small example of this, there's that scene where Clark needs Bruce and Dick to help him find Jon, who is learning how to fly. I repeat: Clark, who has super speed, flight, X-ray and telescopic vision, AND CAN HEAR HIS LOVED ONES' HEARTBEATS, needs two regular fucking guys to somehow detective out the location of his own child. Clark is nerfed just to get a cute moment of Dick giving Jon a lollipop - and Taylor absolutely got what he wanted out of that, because those pages did go viral, no matter how little sense they made.
For a bigger example, there's the climax of the Blockbuster storyline in Nightwing, where Blockbuster discovers Dick's identity and Dick realizes that his entire life is about to be destroyed...and then someone else kills Blockbuster and solves Dick's problem for him, and he literally never thinks about it again. This is our hero triumphant? This is NOTHING! I literally stared at that comic with my mouth open. For real? For real for real???
You see this over and over again. In the most recent issue of Titans, it's revealed that Dick basically hypnotized himself into having a secret part of his brain he can only access via a code word because somehow that prevents Raven (a telepath) from reading his mind (why? UNCLEAR). He is explicitly inspired by what Bruce did with his Zur-en-Arrh personality. You know, the one who has been the main villain in Batman for over a year? Who has taken over Gotham and driven Bruce into hiding? Who will be a key factor in the upcoming Absolute Power event? That guy?
But it's okay that Dick did the exact same wildly unsafe thing, because Dick says in the comic "this will be fine" so it'll be fine. Why? He said so! It'll be fine!
Obviously most of the time superheroes do defeat the bad guy and it is fine (and even when it isn't, they come back to life), but in order for a story to have impact, we have to believe in the stakes. The hero needs to make an effort. There need to be consequences. Taylor's writing is devoid of all of that. When he gets to issue #6 of a given storyline, everything is just magically resolved. It makes his characters feel shallow and incompetent, and his stories feel meaningless.
More importantly, his politics are as shallow as his plotting. He injects liberal themes into his writing, but things are just magically resolved, and no one ever has to make a hard choice. Jon Kent occasionally scolds a mean person and then flies off to hold hands with his cardboard cutout of a boyfriend, and Taylor pats himself on the back for being History's Greatest Ally.
Meanwhile, he does absolutely nothing to support real people with marginalized identities. When Chuck Dixon when on a twitter spree sharing a homophobic photoshopped panel of Dick and Jon, Taylor was like "Oh that's actually photoshopped, but I love your work!" and then spent several tweets kissing Dixon's ass. Sucking up to a homophobe was more important to him than actually standing up for queer people, or even just...not saying anything. (Not saying anything is free!)
Now don't get me wrong, Taylor's mentions are deranged and people need to leave him alone about Babs not being in a wheelchair because it's obviously not up to him. But the way he acts like he is the world's greatest martyr to The Cause because of his milquetoast comics when over and over again he fails to support real, living people drives me nuts. (There are other examples, but I don't have the strength to unpack the Ed Piskor stuff right now.)
In conclusion: his writing is shallow, his politics are shallow, and I'm tired.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎"Shit. (Y/N), don't go through that crosswalk, you hear me?" Jack urged you while you stood just a few feet away from the very man who was stalking you. Since you've gotten to be be a bit closer to the stalker, (Y/N) was able to decipher more of the physical features of the man who had been following you. He was tall and muscular, and strangely reminded you of Jack, but you brushed it off as the adrenaline that was rushing through your neurons and nerves. ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎"Well, what else do you want me to do?" (Y/N) snapped out of frustration, immediately sighing heavily out of regret for your brief emotional lash-out. But there was no time for any apologies, you were wrapped up in focusing on your survival. ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎"Just stay calm, and don't separate yourself from the crowd." Jack instructed you, attempting to feign a calm voice despite the rage and fear that was spiraling through his own head.
No matter how badly you wanted to argue with Jack, (Y/N) took in a deep breath and bit back your tongue, deciding to trust your boyfriend who happened to be an officer of the law. Once the traffic light turned green, (Y/N) began crossing the street with the flow of the crowd of the sidewalk that was adjacent from the crosswalk that the "shadow" was following you from. Despite the ocean of people that now surrounded (Y/N), you would still be able to hear your heartbeat pounding at a rapid rate. ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎Although it was a brief deliverer of relief for you to not have a visual on the shadow that was following you, (Y/N) dreaded the idea of being possibly jumped by him. ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎"I'm so fucking scared..." (Y/N) confessed through your heavy breathing and shaking voice that expressed your fear. The way (Y/N)'s body was reacting made you feel as though you were running a marathon despite the slow stroll that you were actually taking. ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎"I know, baby. It'll be okay. How far away are you now?"
‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎"I...I think five minutes."
‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎"Just keep focused on that, don't let anything distract you."
With a nod of your head, (Y/N) took in a sharp inhale of the fresh air that surrounded you while you concentrated on every step that you took, praying that your stalker wouldn't catch up to you. At this point, it was becoming much more of a challenge for (Y/N) to carry the plastic grocery bags that were in the crooks of her fingers due to the sweat that was building up on her palms. ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "I made it across," You announce to Jack as you continue your path down the road in the direction of where you believed the police station to be.
‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "Okay, good. Don't hang up on me, okay?" Jack urged as though he was pleading for (Y/N) to stay on the phone with him until he was certain that you were safe.
But then, the sound Jack' dreaded most rang through the phone into his ear — the disconnect tone from (Y/N)'s end. His eyes shot open wide in terror and his hands clenched onto the desk he stood in front of so hard that his knuckles began to turn white. ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "(Y/N)? (Y/N)!" Jack called out your name in desperation, praying that somehow he'd hear your voice on the other end again. ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ Finally caving in to reality, Jack slammed the receiver down and let out a roar of frustration that made the entire department freeze and turn heads towards him. ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "Fuck!" He cursed in the moment of rage, overwhelmed by the adrenaline that was now coursing through every vein of his body. Without missing a beat, Officer Traven spun himself around to face towards the other officers who were in the station with him, pointing out to them and gesturing his hand to the phone which he was just using to call (Y/N) and keep in contact with you.
‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "Captain McMahon, I'm going to need to go." Jack said to the Captain, behind his eyes shined desperation in his darkest moment, terrified for (Y/N)'s life. Captain McMahon made a light nod of his head in acknowledgement to Jack's request, silently permitting him to leave the station.
Tumblr media
While (Y/N) was trying to quicken your pace to hurry towards the police department that was approaching in the distance, you would hear your phone disconnecting from the call; but there was no time to focus on that at all, not with those eyes boring into your back with every step you took — no matter how far away you tried to get. ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ Suddenly, (Y/N) abruptly seized in your steps at the sight of a dead-end sign that was placed in front of an area that hasn't been finished with construction due to a delay. It was only when you finally stopped that (Y/N) noticed your call had been dropped, most likely from being too far away from the nearest tower. ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "Oh, shit...no..." You breathe shakily, your hands beginning to tremble along with the surge of adrenaline, taking over your veins like a tidal wave. ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "No, no, no. Damn it, no!" (Y/N) didn't know what to do while caught in the trap of the dead-end.
Unfortunately for you, your panic would cause you to lose focus just long enough for the "shadow" to catch up with you until it was right behind your back, and you could feel its cold fingers brushing up against your shoulders to creep up to the sides of your neck. That was the last (Y/N) would remember before fading away into a state of unconsciousness. ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ As you woke up, (Y/N) would feel the soreness in your throat. Going up to reach to feel the tender bruises that were on your neck, (Y/N) would realize that your hands were bound together by rope behind your back. This revelation caused (Y/N) to begin hyperventilating and panicking as reality caught up to you. However, your brief freak out came to a stop when you suddenly heard footsteps echoing against the emptiness of the dark room (Y/N) was in; leaving you no clues to where you actually were.
‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "H-Hello..?" (Y/N) called out, your voice strained from being choked and going hours without water while unconscious.
Then, you would start to see him...the shadow that was lurking just around the corner of the grocery store from hours ago, the one that was following you, appeared out from the dark. But it would be difficult to see his features against the void that spilled through the room without the glow of any light source around. ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "Who are you..?" You ask with hesitation, but the curiosity slipped free before you had the proper time to think it through. (Y/N) narrowed your eyes, putting in as much effort as you could to decipher the features of your kidnapper.
‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "I go by many names;" The deep and gravely masculine voice answered, the chill from his choice of words was sent down your spine. ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "...but, you may know me as John Wick."
John Wick, the Boogeyman (or, as the criminal underworld calls him, "Baba Yaga"), was the menace who dragged you away from the place you called home. The mere mention of John's name made (Y/N)'s eyes shot wide open in realization — the infamous assassin was hired by somebody to take you down, but...who would do that to you? Your mind raced as you tried to think through the list of names, but it would be difficult for you to think of any personal enemies. ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ All that you knew now was that you were in grave danger, and your life was in the hands of Officer Traven, your boyfriend, and the rest of the SWAT Team.
Tumblr media
‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "Where am I?" (Y/N) spoke the next booming question that was relentless on your mind since you woke up.
‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "I'm afraid I can't tell you," The Boogeyman answered simply, his voice flat and deep. It was almost dreamy, if the dream was a horrific nightmare.
‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "Why?"
‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "C'mon, your boyfriend is a damn SWAT Officer, there's risks that come with that. Consequences." He added as he paced towards (Y/N), his height towering over you while he held a Heckler & Koch P30L in his right hand. John's voice dripped with darkness, as if you could see red behind his eyes from how many people he has killed after being raised in the corrupted criminal underworld.
‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "Why am I here?" You ask, your tone now suggesting that you were demanding answers. But John wouldn't budge.
‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "It was his orders." John answered, his flat voice never wavering while (Y/N) was a mess inside and out.
‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "Whose..?" (Y/N) inquired with hesitation. Your eyes briefly lock onto John's then, and those dark brown pools made your heart begin to race as you caught a glimpse of the death that hid behind them.
Without saying a word, John took a couple of steps to the side. You squint your eyes and tilt your head, attempting to decipher what — or who — was approaching (Y/N)'s vulnerable person while you were bound to the chair with rope.
‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "Looks like we meet again," The familiar face of none other than Howard Payne, your boyfriend's biggest enemy. The smirk that was evident on the corners of the twisted man's lips was only but the peak of the iceberg to Payne's madness. (Y/N) would feel your heart plummet down into the depths of your stomach and you began to wonder, how do you get out of this?

I think starting off with bucktommy having so many scenes focusing on them just made us greedy (Understandable, how could you get enough of them?😭). Like I'm mourning tommy's scene with henren. It's already established that chimney is bucktommy warrior but I really wanted to see how things between hen and tommy are. Like damn, there's no way we're finding out huh?
But considering how short the season is I think tim is doing a good job at establishing bt. We've seen tommy in many 118 important moments (the rescue, madney's wedding, the ceremony, even mentioned in Bobby's goodbye 😭, and the hospital). It's safe to say that tommy is like no other love interest. And buck already knows/feels that much. We only need the little nudge that makes him go: "yes, he's is the one for me". Could be in the hospital scene, could be not.
But the desperation is felt and REAL, like it's our last chance to get any substantial bt scenes to live off during the hiatus. It's gonna be wild out there
Anon, we were given a FEAST at the start of this season. The soft conversations, the chin grabs, the promise of something more beginning to blossom???? We had everything we wanted in the start of their relationship. The queer awakening of Buck was given so much attention and screen time (as it should) and, once the storyline focused on other characters (as it also should because this isn’t just the Buck show), we had to make do with small interactions and background scenes. But oh my, what we were given to begin with was almost too good to be true. It was such an authentic start to a relationship. The chemistry, awkwardness, earnestness, and desire was so amazing to witness because it felt so real and lasting. And it’s created such a believable couple that we’re still here, even though we’ve basically had nothing else to go off of since the kiss in the hospital.
It absolutely makes sense that people are saying it doesn’t feel like we’ve been shown enough of an established relationship because we were given so much of the start of the relationship. There seems to be a disconnect now where, if people aren’t shown it, then it just doesn’t exist. I don’t agree with it, but I understand why some fans are upset or are claiming it’s not there.
And, because this fandom is amazing, we’ve thought of all the scenes and interactions we want to see. Just look at A03 for the sheer untapped potential of Tevan content. But we’re not getting them because this show already has so much to showcase. RIP Hen and Tommy discussion scene, RIP Hen and Buck heart-to-heart over Buck’s newly discovered bisexual identity.
I completely agree that Tim is doing his best to give everyone equal screen time. We already know he’s returned from his Lone Star vacation with a determination to bring Buck back to former glory and I think the journey he’s on now is going to be incredible to witness. Tim is laying a foundation for Tevan in a way that isn’t monopolizing the screen (which we know Buddie fans would also complain about if that were happening) and he’s giving us just enough crumbs to keep us fed. The scenes you highlighted are so important and it’s weaving Tommy into the fabric of the 118. You’re so right that it’s unlike any other love interest. Taylor was there but we know she was there for the stories and the exploitation. Tommy is there for Buck.
Depending on what we get next episode for the finale this hiatus is going to be so wild. If we’re lucky, we’ll get some truly sweet moments between Tommy and Buck. If we’re not lucky, Tommy will only be there briefly (or maybe even only mentioned) and we’ll have to rely on fanfics to sustain us with codas and AUs.
Either way, what a way to go.

all my ghosts
pairing: Farleigh Start x reader
content/warnings: fluff (im so sorry guys), pretty fast paced lol
summary: HC of a healthy farleigh x reader relationship (thank fucking god)
note: really wanted to write farleigh finding a nice partner that helps him with his trauma lol. possibly post saltburn. I'm so sorry my dudes. I really am a sucker for fluff! still based off of a Lizzy Mcalpine song.
"'Cause I hate all of my habits but I happen to love you."
Farleigh met you at a 7/11 near the place he works at. He's pretty bummed about not having to go to Oxford as well as fully disconnecting from the old life he had.
It was exactly July 11th. He remembered because you got a free slurpie at the convenient store.
You looked good for someone who was staying up due to an exam. You finally decided to claim that free slurpie they had since sugar wakes you up.
Farleigh, on the other hand, was just exploring the place. He didn't really want to stay at his mum's place. So he decided to get his own place.
He didn't really want to go out that night. It was a not-so-impulsive decision due to the fact that his case of cigarettes were all out.
The fluorescent lights weren't really giving you justice. As well as the bags under your eyes but who cares? You really need to pass this math exam tomorrow.
He approached you being the extrovert that he is and asked for your name and number. His excuse was to tour him around since it was his first time back at the States. (he was already living there for 3 weeks)
You agreed to tour him around. Praying that he wasn't a murderer of some sort.
You two went out the very next day to "tour" him around. At the end of the day, he did ask if this was a date.
"No. But maybe we can set a proper one?" you suggested.
He liked that. It means he gets to see you again.
Months pass and you both seem to connect really well.
The relationship progresses to you both being a couple.
Everything felt great. There was the usual fights, of course. I mean Farleigh is kind of a diva. You expected him to be annoying at times.
But most of the time, he's the loveliest.
It's the same with Farleigh as well. He loves your company. You make him feel good and sane. Especially after all the loss he experienced.
There are times that he feels like you're too good for him especially with all the baggage he has. All the trauma from Saltburn and his cousins passing.
These trauma did manifest some bad habits that he's actively fighting. But it helps him when he thinks that he might have a lot of ghosts with him haunting every piece of him left in Saltburn; He still has you.
Dates with him are always unpredictable. You both tried to do cocktails once at his apartment but failed. You both decided to just drink the wine and eat all the fruit.
You also tried cooking. Which was fun and messy. But the mac and cheese was good. He was really convinced that he could make a better mac and cheese than Gordon Ramsey. You giggled at how adorable he was and agreed. That night ended in a sink full of dirty dishes, slow dancing to Master & A Hound by Gregory Alan Isakov and tiny sweet kisses.
Sometimes, you both try clubbing. But end up going home early to just drink at home and watch some movie or have sex.
You both tried to finish two bottles of brandy one time.
"You really think you can beat me at drinking?" Farleigh smirked.
"Fuck! I'm 3 shots deep, my boy. And I feel sober." You we're not. You both didn't finish the bottles of brandy. And he had to carry you to bed.
"You know... I'm pretty drunk right now. But I really love you, Farleigh. You and all your ghosts." You passed out right after. He did say he loved you too. But he'll probably just repeat it once you both are sober. That was the first time you both said I love you.
You had the realization that you'd want to spend the rest of your life with him one Saturday morning. You both we're on the couch watching Bluey. You made him watch Bluey because at first he didn't want to since it's a kids show. But he saw the one episode with Chili and it really stuck with him.
He was laughing at a particular scene when he said. "I think we're like them. Chili and Bandit."
You stared at him. "Yeah. I guess so." It kinda dawned on you how compatible you both are. How you can live like this for the rest of your life.
He had the realization that he wanted to marry you the time you we're at his mom's home celebrating Christmas. You were helping with decorating the tree. He decided to quickly grab the star at the top of the cupboard in the hallway. While going back to the living room, he saw you sweaty, with your tongue out and concentrating on placing the lights on the tree. He realized he has never felt happier than that exact moment. He would love to spend every christmas decorating trees with you.

All the jokes about Ken and horses are good but I just wanna say it's such a good parallel to how actual young men get swept into misogyny and the patriarchy.
Like they're told to believe it means men get to be cool and manly and have this power but with that comes extremely rigid commands of what they can be as a man and a cycle of self hatred for never matching those gender roles perfectly. Patriarchy tells men that if they just do exactly what is expected of them, then they get all the "cool stuff" that comes with. That doesn't work though when there's only a small group that actually gets that power, but men will keep trying to fit into those roles in hopes that they can.
In the end there are no horses or the myth men are told, it's just endless cycles of self hatred and ingroup fighting.

PLEASE DO NOT TAG AS YOUR OWN OC OR PAIRING.
Nathan and Ruben share a bond more powerful than most; mutual understanding through past experiences no one should ever have to go through, and through past actions so horrible they cannot be spoken of. Their grief and the blood on their hands binds them to the STEM technology they created, which has alienated them from the rest of the world— but they give each other the comfort they have both longed for so desperately for years, and that is all they need. They are each other's counterpart; you cannot imagine one without the other, like two sides of the same coin. Through their pain, their grief, their desire, and their regret, they have become one.

#tew#edit:nathan#nuclearocs#nuclearedits#so much shame in my body but still used my taglist but um let me know if you want to be excluded from oc/ship web weaves#just really wanted to share this one because i'm very proud of it and i want it on my blog. so. :]#recognition of the self through the other + wanting so desperately for the other to be deserving of a second chance#because if there is hope for them than there is hope for you etc etc and so on. that's the core of their dynamic i think#they understand each other on such a fundamental level that no one else comes close to because they are in so many ways the same#like how in in the first game leslie could sync up with ru/vik and all that? nathan would be a VERY good candidate for that as well#and it makes me insane!! and then the added layer of nathan being lead developer of mobius' new and improved STEM system#which makes him the same as ru/vik AGAIN but in like. the way that they're both men of [computer] science#and there's the fact they both have a dead sister. they both killed their parents. they were both mobius playthings for YEARS#and they've happily killed and tortured during all of it. they're angry they're out for revenge they're completely disconnected from#the normal human experience and they're working with what they have. and then after all of that is over then what is left?#their story focuses on them picking up all the pieces. everything that's still salvageable at least. and try to start over in a way#they cannot be forgiven for what they've done but they can move on from the past and do different in the future#there's still things left undone and left unsaid... in my canon at least. i know there's not gonna be any more games. it's fine#anyway they end up going to therapy and then they get better they're not a doomed couple they just like being dramatic#if you read all of this we can get married tomorrow if you'd like

https://www.tumblr.com/pondrea/748403783611105280/dont-you-recognise-me
amazing art by pondrea (link above!!!) got me feeling things (the art is so good op!!!!!! 💚) and now i need to yap about this scene lol it’s of the moment zexion disguised himself as sora to riku in com.
(i hope it’s ok to post the link here! let me know if not!)
i’m CONVINCED what zexion said to riku as sora this still haunts riku to this day. it wasn’t even sora who said all that, but i’m sure the fear of how it played out in com actually playing out with the real sora scared riku to death. the fear of this happening led to him walking away from sora first, not even giving him the chance just in case there was a repeat scenario. sure, there was a lot of self hatred and feeling like he didn’t deserve to see sora as well, but the look on riku’s face tells you that this scarred him. this was his biggest fear. he rather fade to darkness than go through this again and isn’t even willing to risk that it could go another way.
anyway, this is just context for what i actually want to talk about lmao
so this is probably one of worst moments for riku right? utterly rejected by his best friend and now that friend was willing to kill him for who he is now. and it wasn’t even real.
but you know who that was real for? sora. in hollow bastion. utterly rejected by riku. his only means of defense taken, basically left to die. and then riku fought him tooth and nail until he lost and sora let him run away.
you know who got closure for their version of this scene? riku. he got it when sora fell to the ground on his knees in the world that never was, when he said he looked everywhere for him and told him he was still riku no matter what. sora told him exactly what he needed to hear to reassure him that sora didn’t think any of things riku feared he did. sora telling him specifically that he was still riku no matter what showed riku that sora stills wants him around. even if he looks like their enemy and even if he did some real awful things, he’s still riku and that’s enough. riku as he is is enough for sora. always has been.
you know who never got anything like that? sora. in fact, the conclusion that sora found to get him through is that he’s not enough. his friends are his power. alone, he has no strength. he only made it through by relying on a complete stranger he managed to befriend. if beast wasn’t there or if he refused to go with sora, would he have survived? he had magic but that would run out eventually. would he have even made it to the room he fights riku in?
i don’t think he thinks he would’ve. in kh3, he says alone, he’s worthless. he’s held that sentiment this entire time. no one told him otherwise. (until riku’s sacrifice but it’s murky about whether sora even remembers that at this point. but even if he does, it wasn’t like the scene in the world that never was. sora was able to dictate exactly what riku needed to hear with no imminent threat and riku was not emotionally compromised like sora was in the keyblade graveyard. riku was able to process everything sora said. that is a far cry to sora screaming in agony over all his friends dying, sora believing wholeheartedly that he's nothing without them, and riku just saying he believes in him. sure, thats what sora needed in that moment to save everyone, but it's not a response to his fears and insecurities established in kh1 like how what sora says to riku is a response to his fears and insecurities established in com.)
at this point, i think it’s obvious that sora knows riku’s changed from kh1 and that he doesn’t believe the same things. sora knows he cares based on his actions and how he saved him too and we know as an audience how dedicated he is to him. but it fucks me up to think that riku got that verbal closure while sora never did. that riku got to start healing from that awful moment but sora really never did.
just,,,, please please please please let them talk about what happened in kh1 i am on my knees begging
extra thoughts: didn’t think of this at first so sorry it’s a little disconnected, but maybe the reason riku is so horrified in that moment in com is because he realizes this is what he put sora through. maybe he made this connection himself and feeling what it was like to be on the other side of it, on sora’s side, horrified him. what’s worse, in riku’s mind, is that riku deserves to be in this position and deserves to be rejected due to his past actions. but sora never deserved it. maybe that contributed to why the self loathing spiral got worse after com.

there’s a specific air of finality to simon & bettys ending that doesnt really. sit right with me? like, it makes sense for the conclusion to be Simon And Betty Must Go Their Separate Ways. but w her going some unknown place he cant follow (and. ppppppossibly reincarnating? which. it would be fucking insult to injury if betty was just dead now. i would be genuinely pissed.) and the general air of it it feels so much like they’re saying. Simon and Betty can’t ever see each other again. It is literally impossible from here on. and the whole way they talk about it…… like. yes, absolutely, simon and betty both put themselves in a tragic situation through their own imperfect choices. but it gets talked about like they’re simply. too far gone now and there just is no conceivable way it could ever work, or could ever have worked as it was. maybe im insane and maybe this wasnt the writers intention but the way they. siiiiiiggghhhhhhh. of course it’s true that their relationship would have been better if simon had noticed betty sacrificing so much for him, had focused on her own goals and wishes, had sacrificed back. but they act like. Welp! He should have just Known Better. He’s just stupid. they’re not interested in looking at why he never noticed how she was throwing away so much of her life for him, how he thought she was the most amazing wonderful confident badass person ever. or that their relationship had any problems in it other than this one specific thing!!!! it feels like theyre just. blaming simon for being ignorant and going Look!! Because of these choices you made you’re FUCKED! FOREVER! You and Betty were NEVER going to- CHRIST, NO, THAT REALLY IS LITERALLY WHAT THEY WERE FUCKING SAYING, DIRECTLY, WITH THE CASPER AND NOVA THING. That frames it so much like Simon, all on his own, DOOMED them to NEVER EVER BE ABLE TO BE HAPPY EVER, they would NEVER HAVE BEEN ABLE TO HAVE A HAPPY ENDING UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, because he was just oblivious to the unequal give-and-take in their relationship.

After seeing the finale last night, I did not like the Ahsoka series and from here on out, I’m going to pretend like it never existed.
