GOD it's really just. exactly what it sounds like. adam and gansey meet on grindr in their 20s and start hooking up but adam has an Extremely Strict "i'm just here for sex, i do NOT do friendship or romance" policy, which gansey is cool with. except then they both really like each other in a way that feels suspiciously like friendship. and they both spend an inordinate amount of time dodging friendly bullets and pretending not to like the other as much as they do and making increasingly weird excuses to hook up while doing other stuff together so they can spend non-sexual time together.

And I hadn't originally checked the OP's tags but after I got this in my inbox I rushed over to check and YESSSS OP GETS IT OP GETS IT!!! In general, Leto is someone who is overlooked a lot in mythology - she's put in the same general category as a lot of Zeus' affairs where she exists to be pretty and tragic and innocent in contrast to Hera's imposingness and strict focus on order and face but considering Leto's lineage, that's simply not true. Like OP pointed out, if there is anyone who matches Hera power for power, both in terms of divine identity and regard, it's Leto. Zeus' regard and respect of her (and by extension, his love of her) I feel are extensions of that importance of Leto from a cosmic perspective. Leto, after all, was still a daughter of Coeus and Phoebe, the Titans of the heavenly and earthly centers of knowledge.

So really, all things considered, it makes sense that Leto is That Girl because only That Girl could birth and raise Him and Her respectively, let's be so for real, right now.

this isn't relevant to anything but every now and then it comes to mind: Mephisto's title as one of the 13 crowns. when he was first introduced during the deviculum, he was called the Gamesman. the next time he appeared at Siren Island, he was called the Mindgames King. two different translators, two very different translations. why so?

in the raws, he's called 盤外王 - or Off-Board King, to take it strictly literally. "board" in this context refers to a game board like for chess or shogi. "off-board" can mean in the literal sense, i.e. the place where game pieces are put when they're captured and removed from the board, but from what I've read, I get the impression it's more often a figure of speech. 盤外戦術, or "off-board tactics," refers to acts of psychological warfare: things a player might say or do before and during a game to get into their opponent's head and influence the outcome.

so I would think, then, that Mephisto's title suggests that he's very good at subtly manipulating whatever events he's a part of, likely by acting on elements outside of those events. dunno what the cleanest, easiest-to-understand way to translate that, but it's something interesting to think about wrt him declaring himself Iruma's ally.
