watching Have I Grown? and i’m cackling at how the set is well-lit for all the other sides, except for this dramatic mf
it’s not a dark side thing either because remus is also in regular lighting, like the rest of the sides
but i can’t also help but wonder if this is part of janus’s powersets. when he shapeshifts into patton
the lighting is normal for a second and then it goes back to being dim and ominous when he goes back to his original form. we see this happening in the other episodes too and at first i thought it was a dark sides thing but no, turns out it’s just a janus thing.

The journalists have been a problem since the screened but they’ve just gotten worse by sticking themselves into fandom discourse when they don’t need to be there at all. This is what one of them tweeted and it made me so angry:

https://x.com/kat__writes/status/1796683230629757217?s=46
because why are you speaking like this is an objective idea held by the whole fandom? countless fans loved the scene and loved bucktommy. If it didn’t resonate with some that doesn’t mean it’s objectively bad writing. I also cannot for the life of me understand how these scenes are being compared because in one, two of the guys are best friends not a couple and in the other, you have a canon couple and if a canon couple is talking to each other, obviously their flirting will be bold and outright and possibly sexual. The writers want us to know the couple is flirting. They don’t want us to dig deep for it in subtext. These are grown men in a relationship one of whom has been shown to very much enjoy sex and have a kinks already established. God forbid he flirt with his boyfriend and his boyfriend flirts with him beyond a little bat of the eyelashes.
yeah, that's not a journalist, that's a fan who happens to get paid to write about the show. and this is on her professional account? where she posts her actual interviews? babes no, that is literally why you have different personal and professional accounts. it doesn't need to be private/secret, but when you start putting your own biased opinions right next to what is supposed to be unbiased reporting, you lose credibility. if i can't trust you to separate your own feelings on a fucking twitter page then i can't trust you to do so in an interview.
the only people who have expressed an issue with the scene are ones who have found an issue with every aspect of tommy and bucktommy. not sorry, but i'm not listening to the opinions of people who have already decided they aren't going to like the scene before it happens, and can't even admit that.

Y'all do know you can't make Jason be NOT white without changing his whole character, right?
For other characters, yes, because their physical appearance are not that influential in their story, on how they are viewed by people, on their personality formation — you can have a black/asian/indigenous/arab/brown/latino/etc Nico and yes, the hate he gets will have a undertone of racism but at the same time nothing significant on his story, motivation or personality will need to change. This is also true for other characters: Clarisse risks repeating the "aggressive WoC" stereotype but the character itself doesn't change.
This isn't true for Jason, whose main character trait is how he is perceived by others and how he showcases himself to others based on that perception. (specially with how little effort Riordan put on him besides making him perfect-er Percy who's somehow also weaker and less important than him).
Let's not pretend a black, Arab, indigenous, Asian, Latin man, etc, in the USA would ever be treated with the universal reverence Jason gets from New Roma, you can't have the illusion of perfection and most of all, of invincibility they have about him when you see him suffering racism or xenophobia in the middle of a mission. Nothing in his life has ever gone wrong, that's his image, destined to be king, he is supposed to have no weakness on his peers eyes.
He is not trying to prove people wrong, he is trying to prove them right; he isn't worthy despite their prejudice, on the contrary, he only tried to make himself worthy to fulfill their expectations. He can't be a woman or an immigrant or have a visible disability or any other thing that strays him from a perfect ideal by western society standards, and be that same character.

The other nice thing about s1 is that you're really only following like 4 stories. And they all feed into the same overarching plot. (None of the random Russia nonsense)

god...i understand, obviously, people not wanting to vote for biden because of the genocide. i was in the same boat, and had voted uncommited thinking that was the official last vote. stupidly, i thought i had successfully not voted for biden
and of course then i learned about project 2025 and im glad i have a second chance but
why did i, or anyone else who doesnt want to vote, think trump is going to do regarding the genocide?
trump hates not only palestinians but arabs in general- dont you think its likely that he would aid more, that he would kill more, that whoevers left do you really think hes going to allow anyone to live?
This isnt about whos the lesser evil the are both evil fascist people
But what are people thinking? They dont vote for biden and then what?
because in reality, if trump is elected that likely will be the last year we are able to vote and that is not an exaggeration anymore

This is a P.S.A (about fictional characters)
If they have this exact default expression:
Then skedaddle (leave) the heck out of there because they are gonna try to be eVIL
don’t trust that “innocent boy 🥺🥺” smile they have. ITS JUST A TRAP. dONT TRUST THEM. They will do something (probably not that horrible BUT) ABSOLUTELY QUESTIONABLE 🤨
This has been a (fictional charather) P.S.A. If you have any other characters that fall into this category, feel free to add on so people are informed

Your critical reading skills are being clouded by emotion, imo. The excerpt you just commented on absolutely does imply that murdering children is morally wrong, even if it is legal. The underlined portion directly references the sentence before it. The sentences afterward also imply that it is morally wrong.
so i’m emotional for seeing clearly that the article is intending to justify acts of mass-civilian killing by reducing it to “war is ugly” and calling it “legal” thereby disputing people stating israel is committing war crimes, the same article that states that UN’s figures are unreliable and come directly from hamas? i’m supposed to ignore that the article is very clearly justifying & defending israel and that the excerpt states basically “sure it makes us sad and emotional to see children killed, that’s normal bc no justifiable circumstances of their killing makes it less sad, but war is ugly and it isn’t MURDER, it’s legal & justifiable even tho it makes us sad” ?

Cancelled my ad-free tumblr due to Tumblr not being able to control their CEO. This truly is Elon Musk-type behavior. If it wasn’t so disgusting, such as Matt literally following users to different platforms, if Matt had Listened To His Lawyers And Shut His Damn Pie Hole, things would not be a volatile as they are now.
Personally, I think a CEO does have an obligation to their employees to ensure they are safe and yeah, death threats aren’t cool. Yes, even if the threat seems insignificant or like someone’s bad creative writing project, a professional boss should still care about the safety of their employees. We all know that as tumblr users we have been desensitized to threats, and they are seen as part of tumblr culture, but to an outsider, to courts, this tumblr culture Will Not Matter. It can and will make things worse for us, especially those of us who are marginalized, to be taken seriously.
All this is to say, Matt should have let lawyers handle this, all of this. I cannot in good faith continue to give money to a website that will fund a man like this. I don’t like people who don’t listen to their legal counsel, and I think that these people should not be this in charge of something so important.
Oh. Right. There’s also the [unverified] AI rumor which. No. Do Not.
So, I will be on tumblr mobile for a while more since my ad-free just went through for the month (literally the day before all this started💀), and then after that I am switching to desktop only.
I will reinstate ad-free once Matt is no longer CEO of Automattic or if Tumblr is sold

Know what icks me out Grey's anatomy wise?
There's a line in private practice for Addison says that she's known Amelia said she was 12 and we know Addison and Derek didn't meet until med school and we also know that there's 12 years between merder. That means there's about a 10-year age gap which puts only 2 years older than Meredith. The part that icks me out is the fact that Derek was chasing after Meredith so hard in the early seasons because she's essentially the same age as his kid sister.
The age thing with grey's anatomy is complicated because Meredith is supposed to be older than the rest of her intern class, so she's closer to the 30 than 25 in season one so, like, a 30 yo woman with 40 yo man is not that problematic. Also I'm pretty sure Amelia is supposed to be 5 years older than Meredith in canon (there's the way Amelia is a full-blown neurosurgeon before Meredith is even a general surgeon so she has a head start), so this will make it worse for you but he went after a woman 5 years younger than his baby sister. My thing with merder, even though they have their moments for me, is the way that he's her direct supervisor and he still just gets away with emotionally yoyoing her for a good part of what? 4 seasons? I think if we're gonna go age we need to talk Mark and Lexi and the way Lexi is 24 and Mark is in his 40s since he's the same age as Derek. Honestly, the age thing is not the problem with merder in my opinion, it's the way Derek never stopped thinking he was above Meredith, the way he was too arrogant to let her be all she could be. I think the power imbalance in the relationship makes the age gap worse when you stop to think about it, even Meredith calls him out on it at some point before he dies. But since the actors are really close in age and the way that in 2005 media didn't give a shit, the show ends up putting them as an epic love in a way that if you don't stop to think about it you will actually believe it.

Back on my bullshit (by which I mean, in this case, both "Skyrim" and "being unhinged about fraught father figure relationships even when they're not all that central to the narrative") but. Occasionally I think about how what we see of Arngeir's characterization beyond generic mystical mentor type is basically that of a guy with a naturally hot temper who, over the course of a long life spent meditating in a monastery, has painstakingly learned (though not mastered!) the art of chilling the fuck out or at least graciously apologizing (even as that same cloistered religious lifestyle has probably also fueled a bit of a stubborn/dogmatic streak).
And then I think about what this potentially suggests re: his feelings toward noted local stubborn intemperate hothead Ulfric Stormcloak (y'know, the guy who broke all their previously-shared religious vows yet still deferentially refers to him as "Master Arngeir") and go ever so slightly insane
