heaven's secret : first story I ever played and also first I finished, so I'll always have a soft spot for it,, I really enjoyed it! very entertaining. plus I'm weak for luci

hell and high water : underrated AF and it's such a shame because it's so damn good!! I know some people are put off bc the boat talk which yeah I don't understand shit about it myself but use a walkthrough and you'll be good lol, and it's just like such chill vibes for an dystopian story, and it's comfy?? but it's not boring At All, the characters are awesome especially the lis and don't get me started on all the diversity & representation!!! I'm so excited to keep playing and see where it goes, also chand has my whole heart

kali: call of darkness : this one is hard to rate because I feel like it has so much potential but for reasons I don't love it like I wish I did/like I could.... 😬 I do like mc tho and have gotten quite infatuated with killian which I didn't really expect sorry bby!

legend of the willow : 11/10 best story best mc & best li (kazu) hands down!!!! it's funny bc when I first got the app and went through playing the first chapter for each story I didn't feel very interested in this one,,, but when I saw all the hype around it I wanted to see what that was about and god y'all weren't lying dhdjkfkdhs it's just SO GOOD, all the lis are amazing, with such depth, and the plot is so interesting,, I'm sad it's over, I miss it/them,,, kazu loml ❤️ his/mei's relationship is just.. *chef's kiss* plus the way their intimate scenes are written?? on a whole different level. I just can't say enough good things about this story; if you haven't played it yet PLAY IT I promise you won't be disappointed

rage of the titans : not the best but it's still quite fun and it's kinda one of my faves to play just bc murphy. period! like I don't have much to say about the story but I could gush about him for hours lol

sophie's ten wishes : I'm still angry at this one. I don't wanna spoil anything but ugh. definitely not one of my faves, though it was tolerable.. I mostly played to gain gems. I had a hard time picking an li bc I didn't love any but quite liked a handful (diego, logan, blake, haku, kinda benedict). brandy was the best part of the entire story

the flower of tiamat's fire : really love this one!!! it's probably my second fave after lotw, same with li (sin), and mc. I also really adore iyar so much I mayve been weak and kissed him once or twice🤭 but kingu owns my heartu. lastly, varassa deserved better and should've been an li I'll be forever bitter and upset

the one : okay there's only been a single ep of this so don't have much to say lol. looks like it'll be fun, if nothing else,, mc seems cool/funny, adorable free pet!, and so far just from initial introductions I'm interested in luca & deshawn , maybe adira & mona

wave patrol : I feel like Ive said this about pretty much all the earlier releases but,, not the best that's for sure, but also not horrible, at least somewhat entertaining. kinda annoying you can't end up with an li if you don't spend any gems but eh im not too bothered. also why wasn't storm an li?? 🤧

oh it has changed a lot. From the setting (it was in the US before I said "wait no, why not in Spain?" and I changed), to all the events and progression of the whole thing (which I'm actually happy for, because I added a load more of angst, stakes and I am actually using it to explore what some things mean to me so hey! not bad!).

❣️: which scene has been hardest to write so far?

probably the first scenes ngl. It was hard to introduce some characters and a setting where there was not going to be a major action point until some chapters later while at the same time trying to make it look interesting enough to continue to read. Just like a "hey I promise this is good and you just need to wait a little for the Big Thing to happen, just bear with me a little okay?"

There will be more hard scenes to write tho, but I'm actually kinda of excited about them haha

BACKGROUND:

So… I’m currently too tired to do the ‘whole chart,’ but… a Sagittarius. Know this.

Now, to understand our dear Judith, you must first understand her parents. Her mother was a wealthy young woman, progressive in her views on social issues… for the time. Nonetheless, she was expected to hold up the standards of the time. Her father was the younger brother of a man deemed ‘a great soldier’ who died fighting in WWII. Followed by the memory of him and his own parents’ obsession with the man, he placed pressure on himself to live up to that standard. Shame there was no war………………….

They met at Judith’s mother’s debutante ball and hit it off. It was, what they perceived to be, a match made in heaven. But that’s always easy to say – it’s harder to prove when a good night culminates in an unexpected pregnancy. To avoid any public scandal on her part, Judith’s mother and father married before she began showing and moved to Mapleview where she would become an excellent mother and he would live up to his brother’s standards by… he was still figuring it out… maybe making the next great scientific advancement? or writing the next great American novel?

Sadly, in spite of her lifetime’s worth of training, Judith’s mother… proved to lack natural maternal instinct. Perhaps it was passed down from her own mother, transgenerational trauma beginning long, long, long ago. Judith’s father was so consumed with his grand ideas that he hadn’t the time to help! Between becoming the next Walt Whitman one day and the next Albert Einstein the next, all while working for his father-in-law, he just didn’t have any time at all!

Their marriage grew strained and, as Judith grew, they made it even clearer that she was the cause. If she, herself, didn’t do something spectacular with her life, then it was all for nothing!

Her father wasn’t forced into the Vietnam War as a part of the drafting lottery. No, as it grew bigger, as the army grew more desperate, as she began slowly maturing, as his marriage continued falling apart, he voluntarily entered in 1965, when Judith was seven. Before drafting even began!

Before he entered the war, Judith was the victim of plenty of degrading remarks and the occasional Unusually Odd Punishment (think bojack horseman w like beatrice seeing ~7y/o bojack take a cigarette and forcing him to smoke all of it bc he couldn’t waste a perfectly good cigarette!). However, the remarks grew more biting after he left for “the war effort.” The two moved back to California, her mother’s birthplace, to be closer to her mother’s father – an even better source of income when his sympathies were being played on.

...but it was suddenly back-to-work, no-sympathies-for-you when the war ended and Judith’s father was still alive… and, furthermore, when the war was lost. 

With her parents’ marriage worse off than ever, Judith’s unconscious attempts to please them and live up to their expectations began sooner than they would have had the war been won. Or had her father been shot. 

Probably.

Commercials began at seventeen, but they weren’t impressive. Minor roles began at eighteen, but they weren’t impressive. It wasn’t until she was picked up by an actual agent at twenty that she began actually shining, so to speak. 

Which is actually a great accidental pun on my part, as her first big role was, much like JLC’s, in one of the first slasher movies ever made. Hoorah! But it still wasn’t impressive. It wasn’t big or prestigious, Katharine Hepburn wouldn’t have taken the role. 

But what was even less impressive? 

The pregnancy that followed shortly thereafter. 

Her first thought was to find a doctor who ‘specialized’ in such ‘inconveniences.’ Between the knowledge that a lack of maternal instinct ran in her blood, all women in her lineage getting mistreated to the point that they were simply unfit, as well as the knowledge that she would have to immediately quit the career that had just begun if she wanted to raise the child… 

But the father wound up being a hurdle. He was meant to be a one-night-stand, but he started showing up… again… and again… and again… until she relented and confessed to him that she was pregnant with his child (so she assumed, at least). He was insistent that she keep it… so the compromise became she wouldn’t abort it, but she would immediately hand it off to the man to raise on his own.

Daniel, named by his father, was born. Judith kept in occasional contact, but ultimately tried to leave that chapter behind her.

After that small bump in the road, her agent began lining up more career offers for her. They ranged from OK-I-guess to Not-Katharine-Hepburn-But-Close-Enough. So she clearly went for the latter ones!

Now, for someone who tried to stay clear-headed enough… it became pretty hard as she grew more popular, was invited to more parties, and… given the decade, was surrounded by cocaine! Thus began some more god-awful decisions, a list so long even Leo Tolstoy would put it down before he could finish reading it.

A few years through her increasingly successful career and she found out that she’s gotten pregnant yet again, this time being the result of a one-night-stand had during a borderline bender. For a few days, she obviously considered abortion again. But… how good would it be for her image if she cleaned up and had the baby… and, who knows! maybe she would break the chain of terrible mothers! if she was willing to sacrifice hedonism, then she was clearly doing something right! and… she also felt some remorse for barely keeping in contact with Daniel… so hoorah! replacement!

Turns out she also didn’t have that mothering instinct :\

But it was not, at all, for lack of trying. She never intentionally mistreated her child, Mia (named for Mia Farrow) – she had family days with her and hung out with her and… tried to figure out how to bond with her. She was never cruel like her mother or her mother’s mother or mother’s mother’s mother, so on and so forth and what have you, but… she was Innocently Insensitive. Still caught up in The Scene, there were some nights that were… very loud when she forgot Mia was trying to sleep and invited a bunch of people over. 

Some hedonistic tendencies returned and she found herself allowing a nanny to care for the child more and more often. Never malicious, never cruel, even asked Danny Devito to be Mia’s godfather… but still wound up being a really bad mom.

When Mia moved out, she was beginning to realize she was too old to continue going down the road she was on – to continue making the same mistakes over and over. One child was college-aged, the other was… somewhat older, although she’d lost track of the years. Yeah, she sent birthday cards and made calls every year, but time had just begun blurring together…

As a side-note, this was also around the time she was encouraged to write a memoir. She wound up having to get a memoirist which is a wc!!

The “best thing possible” happened when her mother died a year ago. Her father had already passed, but that was in Fresno – a quick trip. Her mother died in Mapleview, where her roots were laid. Also pls picture her eulogy for her mother like the eulogy in “Free Churro.” Anyway...

So what did Judith do?

Up and disappeared! 

It would’ve been a really excellent publicity stunt… if she’d ever returned. 

She likes to pretend she’ll never return to Los Angeles. The mountain air is so clean and crisp, life is so much simpler, people are so much less… corrupt.

Alas… somewhere in the back of her mind, has many plans to return to her old life. But she needs to make amends first, right?

PERSONALITY/MISC.:

spent the majority of her life trying to live up to the expectations set by her mom when she basically said “you better be something great to make up for being alive” + trying to unconsciously make up for ‘ruining’ her parents’ marriage.

ngl family took inspiration from the sugarman-horseman family in bojack horseman bc i just finished rewatching it and :\ i miss it :\ which, in turn, means there’s a tiny bit of muse inspo from the eponymous, but,,,,,,,, like she may not be a good person,,,,,,, but if u’ve so much as seen up to s2e11,,,,, she aint THAT bad.

further basis was fictional director kelsey jannings (of such fame as “women who love women who love recycling”) when she said that celebrities tend to stagnate at the age they got famous. and judith got famous when she was 20.

I FEEL LIKE I NEED TO MAKE IT EXCESSIVELY CLEAR THAT SHE NEVER HAD MALICIOUS INTENTS TOWARDS HER CHILDREN. she just knew she wasn’t ready to be a mother with daniel - it was terrible timing and she genuinely worried about how she would be as a mother ( considering how poor maternal instincts were... basically passed down through generations ) - and she didn’t know how to connect with mia, especially as an addict in the hollywood machine that was literally filled with drugs, thus proving her hypothesis that she would be a poor mother correct. like... I JUST NEED TO MAKE IT CLEAR THAT THERE WAS NO ABUSE INVOLVED. SHE AT LEAST DID BETTER THAN HER MOTHER WITH THAT ASPECT.

Chapter 19-21 CONTAINS SPOILERS!!!

So I've finished the new chapters in MLQC finally and idk this is probably gonna be a messy mess of my thoughts and feelings afterwards because I'm very sad :(

I've read the translations of these chapters beforehand so I knew that obviously what I would have to endure and the fact that they all forget you in this other world but still it hurt (especially Gavin but if I'm honest I knew that was gonna happen because I'm weak when it comes to birdcop) it made me a little happy when he picked up MC's ginkgo leaf bracelet tho so that made up for it a tiny bit.

I read some kind of theory about how especially in Gavin Lucien and Kiro's life MC's presence was important in their charecters development which if I wasn't speed typing I'd probably link it in this but still it goes onto say how MC's precense didn't exatly change Victor and you can totally see that in these new chapters he's still the same old Victor even tho he's forgotten about MC just like the rest of them (we even got a classic dummy!!) That's why I think that even tho Victor's definitely one of my favourites, his chapter didn't effect me in such a way that Gavin did because effectively his charecter development hasn't really changed like yes there might might be slight differences but not in the way it affected the other 3. Gavin seems colder more focused on his work which he was in the past world but the MC in his past life was his one source of happiness everything he did he did it for her she was what he pretty much lived for and without that his emotions in that sense are non existant something the MC kinda picks up on. This can also be the same for Kiro as well without the MC acceping him for who he is we can see that he tends to hide behind his Helios personality a lot more. I mean I love Helios but I miss my happy sunshine boi as well *sobs :'(* Lucien is also similar perhaps being more Aries then Lucien ( confession: but I've never really liked him all that much anyway there's just something about him but I just don't know arghh.

Then there's that piano dude (he's really quite pretty ngl) idk I'm kinda wary of him ngl but idk?

Then there's the whole Shaw thing (he finally has a name!! Well a name for this sever but ya know!) I don't honestly know because I think it seems strange out of everybody he the only one who knows about MC and hasn't forgotten her and he dosent seem to be part of group neither the Police or Black Swan like the others who are involved with either somehow. But regardless of this I still like him I've always kinda liked him ever since reading chapter 17 he's also very pretty I mean Gavin's his brother so I think that family just has really good genes or something because oof... Just YES. Also his evol is lightning I just thought its really kinda sweet both him and Gavin have weather evols (even tho they probs hate one another but ya know...) also if anyone knows when the Shaw karma cards first start coming out on this server pls let me know because I'm gonna have to invest...

So that is probably all I really have to say on the matter of the new chapters because I needed to rant and get it all off my chest.

thoughts about the new book! spoilers ahead

sq has dinner with them often!! they consider him a friend! they even played minigolf with him im so glad. 

also i love how kate just immediately ran off as soon as she knew where to find sq to help him despite the danger its just im glad sq has friends who love him

i love they included him but i would have liked actual interaction and dialogue with him. 

also like when they mentioned sq’s apartment like it makes sense that he’d have a place of his own but it still surprised me for some reason but im glad that he’s living his life

but there was a point where they recalled a pun sq made and how bad it was and i was like kate you hypocrite ???????

speaking of kate she’s old enough to drive a car!! and a motorcycle. my little girl’s so grown up im crying 

also rhonda’s married and pregnant. good for her!! i didnt expect it but she’s happy and thats great

also i didnt read the prequel book but violet mentions and john cole appearance!! cool!!

wHEN KATE CALLED HIM DAD. that whole ending of the chapter had me so soft he’s so proud of her but also worried bc its a dangerous job but also respects her choices 

their teamup was also great chemistry. milligan putting his hands behind his head as his legs are pinned under an ice cream truck

i do have a complaint that milligan was barely in it tho it was real quick and then he was put out of commission real quick. like usually that happens at least around the climax but this was pretty early on. 

i feel like the book wanted to focus on the Society kids (+ Tai) and it was at the expense of the other characters. which isnt like necessarily bad but i miss them a lot. 

also Tai is adorable. he  didn’t really do much so i could see people thinking him unnecessary but he was so adorable??? and how they all interacted with him was great and i love him bc hes so adorable

constance and kate with the ten men and saferoom. constance loves her and the others and constance is a good kid. it was also kind of repayment for in the first book when kate fell down to face the executives so constance could get to safety, and here constance refused to let kate face them alone and saved her

oh yeah sticky’s canonically handsome now. good for him! ngl tho didn’t expect that like he’s canonically good-looking. but again, good for him!!

im sad the older kids are all around the same height now tho bc whenever a girl mc is taller than the boy mc/s i latch onto it but it often ends with the boys getting taller as they get older. which may be realistic but i hate it let me have kate as the tallest pls. as far as im concerned she has at least one last final growth spurt in stored which places her at officially the tallest tallest on

also kate knows french and i was pleasantly surprised. i think all the kids (at least the oldest?) know french but like im glad kate’s intellect was shown outside of athletics/physics and resourcefulness. 

also mccracken threw a motorcycle at kate !!!!!

also!!!!! im really glad that curtain was in on the plan the whole time bc like before the book came out and the synopsis was like ‘ten men trying to break mr curtain out of jail!!’ i was kiiiinda disappointed bc i liked the sort of hopeful note regarding curtain at the end of prisoner’s dilemma (how there was like a little something like hope in his eyes after sq saved him) like im super glad they actually ended up like keeping that and didnt revert to just plain old evil

which makes me appreciate his note even more bc it was so narcissistic hah

also the stuff about getting older (riddle of ages !) was like. so relatable.

also glad to see captain noland and cannonball again even if it was just for a little bit! love those guys.

also!!! kate naming things i love it. the blab! and naming the tunnel ‘Bill’???? gosh i love kate

also the older kate gets the more dangerous things she gets to do. she’s becoming too powerful.

i still cant get over that she can drive a car!! and that was after she already rode a motorcycle but her driving a car is getting to me more gah

glad my babies finally talked to each other. all of their insecurities and worries and im just like ‘talk to each other!!!’ and they did
