I wrote that intro before I'd watched the ep. Me as I was watching the ep was mostly incoherent screaming (so much so that my cat woke up from his nap to give me "what the hell, hooman" look).

This episode was amazing, and I loved it, and I'll probably die of too much fluff, but that won't happen before I finish watching We Are (which- WHAT DO YOU MEAN THERE ARE JUST 5 EPS LEFT?!!).

I was giggling and kicking my feet (just like Peem the morning after that Prince Charming kiss) from the very first scene.

Oh, they are so gone for each other (and I am gone for them 😭). The smiles, the trying to hear what the other is doing just across the door ah

Also, I'm very glad they decided to showcase creative blocks, even if it was for a few minutes.

Jokes (and puns) aside, this scene is quite significant. Previously, whenever Phum was seen in the vicinity of the Fine Arts building, it was only because he wanted something from Peem (yes even that scene in ep. 8, he wanted company from Peem), but now, he's just sitting there waiting for Peem. And when Peem comes down, he's pinching his cheeks right there and acting cute with him and asking what's wrong.

And he keeps on asking, because he can see that Peem is a little moody, and not his usual self. "You're usually livelier than this."

Phum: "Actually, I want to be water too..."

Me: No way, is this what I think it is?

Phum: "I want to be the reason you feel good."

Me: yeah, yep, that's what I thought

No but, you can't tell me Phum doesn't binge watch BLs with his beloved teddy bear. Of course he has a whole arsenal of cheesy flirting lines.

All this time, it was always Phum telling Peem how comfortable he is around him and his friends, how fun it is.

Welp, it's Peem's turn.

I love Phum.

This is both him asking for consent as well as making sure they're on the same page and going at the same pace (which he always does, as I'd said before).

Hear how polite and soft Q is with Toey now? Once Q knew for sure that he's allowed to show affection towards Toey as more than just a mentor/mentee, he decided to be fluffy as heck and never went back (because his love language is giving and showing through actions).

This is such a valid fear.

He was afraid that his love would be too much, and in the process he'd lose the person he loves again, so he thought it better to just suffer alone than confess. Not gonna lie, my heart broke just a little here. (Also, because I'm currently rewatching MSP, I'll be pulling a lot of parallels, and this reminds me of that scene where Sound tells Gun that he's afraid to confess to Win because he's pretty sure he'll get rejected).

Oh, and I keep forgetting to say this, but Satang is such an amazing actor. Watching Sound and Toey, I almost can't believe they're played by the same person.

Let's be honest though, no one would be able to resist that smile, those eyes and that soft, "Na, krab". Oh yeah, he used polite pronouns here by the way.

I can't always notice the shift from formal to informal or vice versa because I'm not that well-versed in the language (yet) but this was pretty obvious.

This pencil box is very very special to Q, and he's asking Toey to draw on it - something that is irriversible, as Toey himself says.

But this is Q's way of putting together both his loves. This pencil box was picked up by Toey the first time, but back then, Q only knew him as Milk Frappe Boy.

Now, he's asking Toey to do something Milk Frappe Boy would never have been able to (remember, Toey started taking an interest in art only after meeting Pencil Senior), because Pencil Senior disappeared on Milk Frappe Boy, but Q would never disappear on Toey.

it was hard to pick the best bc i'm biased towards merry little christmas, but i don't know if it would be the best of the season exactly. as for que sera sera, nothing really wrong with it but honestly i had a hard time picking a least favorite too. great season – to me it's like the classic house season.

2. Season 5

Favorite: under my skin

Honorable mention(s): the softer side, last resort, both sides now, painless

i literally just barely remember big baby compared to the rest, i think, no matter how many times i see it. amazing season though, honestly so up there with s3 for me that it became a tough choice.

Least favorite: epic fail, remorse (?)

help me is such an amazing episode, it always makes me cry. epic fail is extremely annoying tho and idk why, like after i watched it more than once or twice i started having a hard time rewatching it. and honestly every time i watch remorse i get pissed off on thirteen's behalf and it's just not a fun feeling. not a bad episode though. i know a lot of people don't like s6 but i love it.

4. Season 2

Best: euphoria (part 1 & 2)

Favorite: no reason

HM(s): skin deep, distractions, hunting, clueless

Least favorite: sleeping dogs lie

i recently rewatched euphoria and it's so fucking good i legitimately cried. sleeping dogs lie isn't a bad episode, it just is frustrating to watch for many reasons. another classic house season.

5. Season 4

Best: house's head/wilson's heart

Favorite: house's head/wilson's heart, 97 seconds

HM(s): mirror mirror, you don't want to know, frozen, living the dream

Least favorite: the right stuff

nothing really wrong with the least favorite – it was honestly a tough choice. also i couldn't pick a favorite, it was so tough. i honestly really like this season despite how short and different it is.

Least favorite: heavy, everybody lies (pilot)

the pilot being orange just makes me laugh the whole time so it's hard to watch, and chase's insane fatphobia in heavy is just disturbing, which is the only reason it's a least favorite. for the best i was torn between three stories and detox, but i think detox is better. s1 is ranked so low bc of general weirdness.

7. Season 8

Best: the c-word, everybody dies

Favorite: the c-word

HM(s): dead & buried, twenty vicodin, nobody's fault, post mortem

Least favorite: we need the eggs

we need the eggs isn't bad, the case is just ??? weird and kinda sad tbh idk. i haven't rewatched the c-word yet but i remember it fondly, so i couldn't really choose a best episode. is picking the finale kinda dumb? maybe, idk. i like a lot of episodes from season 8 surprisingly, like most of them, but it's so different from the previous seasons with cuddy absent and the late addition of two new main characters that it can't be any higher for me.

8. Season 7

Best: after hours

Favorite: after hours, out of the chute

HM(s): unwritten, bombshells, the dig, moving on, fall from grace

Least Favorite: two stories

god i really can't stand rewatching two stories. idk what it is but the fucking kids that house gets stuck with in the principal's office are so annoying ??? probably my least fave episode in all of house. but despite how s7 is at the bottom, it did have some great episodes. just wasn't my favorite season at all, especially as someone who isn't really into huddy.

Trying to understand the logic of people saying they’re done with Watcher and Ryan and Shane but will turn around and watch Buzzfeed Unsolved which has *checks notes* Ryan and Shane.

Yeah tbh. I think I can kinda understand it, it's like you're listening to earlier albums of your fave music artist, because they changed the genre with their latest album and you don't vibe with their new songs or watch a tv show's earlier seasons because the later one's totally destroyed the characters you liked. (Happened to me, like some things seriously had only two seasons and I'm ignoring the five next ones and two movies or whatever.)

So in that aspect I can kinda get it. Bfu started 8 years ago, that's a whole almost decade, and sometimes you don't really think of the quality of the content (because I will once again die on the hill that waverly gf ep is much better than waverly bfu I'm still confused how a show this badly made took off in the yt algo back in the day), but what it made you feel like, or where you were in life when you first watched/got into it. There's a kind of nostalgia attached to it and I imagine all of those fans who are like "I hate ghost files but I loooove bfu it's my comfort show", don't really care that it's Ryan and Shane it's the familiarity of watching it over and over for years and it being more memeable and quotable because those lines got repeated and memed to death over the years.

For example I don't really find myself coming back to the earliest eps of bfu if I had to rewatch them. I much prefer Ryan's normal voice to his theory one, and that's because seasons 6 and 7 are when Watcher was a thing, and their interpersonal relationship changed to a more "I like it here, we are friends". In the earlier seasons they aren't that close, Shane is more closed off and assholeish towards Ryan, and well Ryan is younger and thus more kind of playing a cool dude. I feel like he got to be more himself as the years went on and I like that.

That's also the odd thing about being a fan of real people as there is an interesting dichotomy to it. Like on one hand I respect them for what they do their comedy/craft/ability to express their creativity. On the other there's the respect for them as individuals, acknowledging that at the end of the day they are like. Just some guys making stuff. And people grow and change. You're not the same person you were at 25 when you are 34, you are not the same person you were at 30 and 38, but since you got immortalized at 25 and 30 and continue to make content for years people expect you to be always like that. A character that doesn't change, or changes according to a logic of a story. But real life is so much stranger and more interesting than that! There's no logic to your actions, you make mistakes and grow from them. At the time of making a decision you have no idea if it's a good or bad one or how it will go, and if you think you do I don't think you had serious choices to make in your life yet. But I think people expect of them to be those characters who don't change or grow. I assume those people have no respect for Ryan and Shane as real human beings, because they have some imagined version of them how they are presented in those episodes they watched over and over. So to them it doesn't matter that bfu has Ryan and Shane, because those are seen as different characters, not the "evil greedy capitalists who made their own company", but your friends that you know the best because you can quote their lines as you watch them in the background. And additionally there's the nostalgia of watching your beloved show that makes you feel younger because life was simpler back then. You didn't have your worries of adult life because you were in college/high school, and bfu reminds them of that. The fact that it's not giving watcher any money is only better for the haters bc it's like pirating. You still enjoy your favorite part of your blorbos, and don't feed "the big evil watcher" so kinda best of both worlds.

Some people also can't admit that the content didn't change that much, they just lost interest/grew out of it (and it's fine, interests change that's normal), but that's not on them, that's surely on Ryan and Shane for changing and evolving in their craft.

Baffling to me tbh because if I was a fan of them I'd wish them well not for their downfall and contribute to lower views by giving it to a big corporation (which isn't watcher). But that's just me.

Sorry this got deep I just am so tired of people saying bfu is better. It's really not you just miss the person you were when you watched it for the first time. That's the case with every 'comfort' show. It's why it brings you comfort. Real people behind it don't really matter.

Hi! CM anon here. It's been a while since my last message, but I'm back. I'm now in season 8 (I'll be watching the season finale tonight). These past seasons had been quite a journey, the Lauren episode destroyed me, and Garcia's voicemail broke my heart.

I knew that season 8 would be an uphill struggle for me without Prentiss, but I enjoyed it more than I expected, especially with the replicator storyline.

Now, I've seen a lot of ships in the fandom, like everyone with anyone. Since I'm pretty much new in the fandom, I wanted to give it a chance to most of them and I think I have a few favorites already. But I wonder, which ones are yours?

omg, the lauren arc is literally what i'll watch when i'm in the mood for cm but also in the mood to cry LOL.

season 8/9 get a lot of flack from people because there is no emily, and i totally understand that. HOWEVER, you get Alex Blake, which is an extremely good addition (i only wish we got to actually see her and emily like, solve a full case together or share time on the team cause that would be incredible). I also found s 8/9 to have a lot of good storylines and episodes. I think they're likely the seasons i've watched the most on repeat since watching cm. If Alex wasn't your cup of tea at first i also find that she grows on you, she's just so soft. i love her so much.

the replicator storyline is so good! i love those eps!!

TBH, i don't heavily ship anyone from the show. LOL, i know that's weird, but hear me out, i'll go through the big ones here:

Jemily: incredible potential when it comes to the early seasons, they have this chemistry and unspoken bits that scream more than friends (it's very similar to Cabenson imo, if you're an svu fan). Even like, s6/7 there are still moments of pining, but once they made the choice to write in AJ's pregnancy and have JJ settle down with Will, they ended Jemily. (and dont get me started on the s17/18/evolution jemily cause i literally have to log off twitter over how batshit the fandom is going rn).

I like them, i see the appeal. if Paget hadn't been leaving at the end of s7 and they had gone through and killed Will like they planned (and cbs weren't cowards) i could have seen the natural progression for Jemily to start then (slowly and over the years lol) but otherwise, it's a no for me (CANON) (i do still enjoy it in fics, even if i don't particularly read straight up jemily. if that makes sense).

Hotchniss: i completely and totally understand the appeal and why people ship them, but i simply cannot get behind them. Like, i want them both to run me over but ONLY ever individually. people often are all "but you write hotch and you write emily, why not a hotchniss threesome?" and i simply cannot answer that. I get the bestie, watching out for each other, willing to die on their sword for the other to protect them/their family, supporting each other vibes, and platonic love but i cannot see past that. Part of it is the shitty background writing for characters on this show and Emily's background/history not making a single lick of sense cause he apparently worked for her mother, sometimes its said he knew em when she was a teenager and he was an adult and that makes things super weird. but yeah... i get it, but its not my cup of tea. ESP in fandom when people write them married and dilute emily down to being this shell of a woman who is just a wife/mother and needs his support and protection to survive. like.. what... lol

Morcia: LOVE THEM. i absolutely love the vibe they give and i do think that they were always meant to be best friends. I love the teasing, the flirting with no harm, how much they truly love each other and protect each other.

Willifer: i swap back and fourth a lot on these two. I didn't see any huge issues then i rewatched the earlier stuff. 1: the writers threw them together so fast (again, because of aj's pregnancy) and the first time i didn't even remember him from his original ep by the time he showed up again. My second watch, it was the way he outed her for being pregnant and turning down his proposal in front of the entire team and said she shouldn't be out in the field that made me want to kill him. overall we see them making a happy family together so, in the long run, whatever, but that moment really gave me the ick.

I know you're not there yet, but:

Temily: basically the only ship that i REALLY like. they've got these little moments, tara is someone who comes into em's life later and isn't fully knowledgeable about emily's past, it becomes emily's choice when to reveal those little things, ya know? And i think that would make emily that much more comfortable and confident around her. i *personally* also think that this would be a much more logical step (as of the end of s16 at least lol) in canon than jemily but that's all i'll say to not spoil shit lol.

It's also not really a big ship, or much of one, but you cannot deny JJ/Alex had chemistry over their time together. If we completely ignore Will during those years, it's totally feasible they had a little fling. LOL.

SO.... yeah... i like the little undertones of a lot of ships while watching the show, i wish some of them had been developed a little bit more, like just give us crumbs pls. Others i absolutely despise. Others i have literally zero opinions on. It also very much can and does differ between canon and fanon.

retching. i feel like i need a rewatch of the whole series of f&c in one go to fully cement my opinion without the weeks worth of 'over' hype and theorizing for the finale eps but at the same time the ending soured me so much do i. do i want to? but also i dont /want/ to dislike this thihng i enjoyed so dearly up to this point. man its so sad. a part of me knew that there's no way the finale could satisfyingly wrap things up in two eps but given how the series had gone on so far, 1/2

Yeah like………. i could tell they were struggling a Little with pacing and being able to fit all the important parts of the story in. ep7 especially like, was a great episode but also some of the plot beats felt like they weren’t built up to properly, or they didn’t linger long Enough on important stuff - like, we only dedicate 2 seconds to the thing abt the star beinf like that bc shes a marceline who didnt have simon…… But i could forgive all that, bc they had a LOT of stuff to fit just into that one episode, and they still hit all the beats they needed to and told a sensible story.

So I thought….. even if they don’t have time to execute the ending perfectly, they can still get their idea across and have everything happen that needs to!

But then they decided to. Like. To some extent tell the wrong story. And DEFINITELY told it badly. There’s good things about the finale episodes, and some of the plot points are What Should Have Happened, but there’s …. just……… Fundamentally they failed to continue telling the same story they had been telling the entire show!!!!!!!!! fionna and cake writers sweeping the subject of simons mental health off the table at the last second to tell a story exclusively about 1 specific aspect of his relationship w betty as if the Life Lesson He’s Learning here has aaaaaaany fucking thing to do with what his story has been about SO far in the series

uuuuuggghhhhh yeah the ending just. soured the whole fucking thing for me. at the same time i still love the first 8 episodes theyre great but theyre better if you don’t know that THAT was what theyre building to. emotionally i dont want to rewatch eps 9&10 in full ever bc the concept of them makes me so upset but also it would be good to revisit the series and look at it from the perspective of knowing what they’re intending to do. i still definitely will never agree with most of the things they did. but i can at least look at it more analytically when im not seeing it for the very first time and dont know where its going. not yet though im still pissed LMAO

What do you think of Baylan and Shin's relationship?

Oh anon to be honest like - bewildered? I don't know.

Like, I am currently rewatching, and I guess Baylan's Whole Plan kind of makes sense? But also. . .it doesn't? He wanted to stand on a giant statue of whatever like part of the Force Holy Trinity or something (?) and that was going to lead him to power to save the Jedi, maybe? Or solve the cycle of birth and death? Or stop all wars? WHATEVER, DAVE.

(But also - the ~significance~ of the statues in ep 8 is only clear if you have watched a minimum of 3 recap youtube videos or a shitton of animated series episodes so does it count? Like if I'm going on the TV they explained in the actual TV show - traditionally the way one watches tv - he just went all the way to Peridea to go for a nice hike, and good for him I guess?? Best hike ever??)

So IDK that i have a lot of strong opinions about Baylan directly, except that I'm frustrated by how little the show tells us about what his whole deal is. When it comes to his relationship with Shin, I think - like not to put too fine a point on it but I think pedagogically the whole Jedi master-apprentice thing seems to have a lot to answer for, just broadly as a system of learning. I know we're supposed to be like Ah Yes, Masters Are Great Teachers but just because the narrative says it like.

Okay, so you, a weirdo who can hear the vibrations of the universe and can use it to punch people but don't, live a solitary lifestyle where you have eschewed all temptations and do sword practice two hours a day. You are given a random magic orphan. And you're supposed to just. . .try your best to make them precisely as weird as you are. Except you are living in a society with constant war, so half of your supervisors were like. . .evil, or murdered, or adopted the weird sword people lifestyle because of deep society-upheaving trauma. Also you're admittedly not great with kids or doing anything but meditating and sword practice. Also, if you do a bad job this weird orphan might turn into a mass murderer???

That relationship is inherently weird.

It just is. I know it's the backbone of Star Wars, I'm not saying it's bad, I'm not saying Star Wars is bad, but I think that accepting the Jedi Pedagogy wholeheartedly without a little bit of light mockery just isn't possible.

What I think is more interesting is how that relationship, in its weird little glory, affects Shin. Because we see like - whatever that dynamic, whether Baylan is good or bad at Weird Not-Sith Not-Jedi School, she is determined to be an A student. She gets frustrated when she loses. She's hungry. She's proud to be a good Padawan and has a lot of curiosity about what it would feel like to have more - more connections, more people to train with, more power.

And so Baylan and Shin's relationship is really interesting to me as a tool to highlight those desires of Shin's, and as a way of exploring who she might be as a person when she's not having homoerotically-charged duels.

Weekly TV Round Up <3

Alright, it's time to recap TV this week. I tried to only watch either 1 episode, or 1 hour's worth of episodes for each show. So far, I'm still liking watching shows in this format and there was really only one show that I was tempted to binge (At 25:00, in Akasaka) (I think it helps that I don't mind spoilers)

QL SHOWS

🌍- 23.5 (ep 12): And with that, GMMTV's first GL is complete. This episode had a very epilogue feel, which makes sense. It pretty much wrapped up the storylines (I'm still rooting for MawinTon lol). Overall, I'm glad that this shows exists and it's the sign of more to come. There were some things I liked a lot (my fave episode is probably the one where they go watch the meteor shower/stars at the school or the early episode where they try to discover the alien at the school). There were also some things I didn't love and I don't think that Sun's character was really given enough backstory to fully understand. I probably won't rewatch this, but it had a lot of good moments and I think the cast did a great job :)

🦋- My Marvelous Dream Is You (ep 3): The messy lesbians continue. I actually really liked the conflict set up in this episode. I think the show portrays really well the internet reaction to this particular scandal and I like how they highlighted that because they are two women, they have to deal with sexual harassment comments on top of the homophobia. And the ending where the solution to the scandal is to get Dawan to be shipped with a man, and having that solve all the problems also feels realistic. I can see the angst the show is setting up and I think it is balancing the sadder moments with humour well. Also the dream sequences are really well done. I must say though, I think Dawan must know she is gay, or into Kim in some way because how do you dream of making out with your best friend then wake up and just, go about your day without questioning it. But then again it's implied (in the trailer at least) that Kim is also in these dreams and it doesn't seem like she has sorted through her feelings as much so idk

✨ - We Are (ep 8): I feel so conflicted with this show. On one hand, I enjoy watching it every week, and I especially love the dynamics within the friend group. They really feel like a true friend group and the show goes out of its way to bring up how important the friendship is. The problem for me with this show is more the romance aspects and how they're developing. Sometimes it just feels like a bunch of scenes together that aren't related to each other, and I still don't really understand how this show has eight more episodes... So yeah, I like the individual characters a lot and the friend group dynamics, but not really the romance plots that much.

🧍‍♂️- My Stand In (ep 5): This show is still keeping me hooked and I like the arcs that they're setting up. I saw some people talking about how they haven't really been consistent in the body swapping premise of the show or really addressed Joe's angst with that, or reminded the viewers often enough that he is in fact in another body. I actually agree with those takes but for some reason it isn't hindering my enjoyment of the show. Maybe because to me the body swapping part isn't what got me hooked on the show in the first place. This episode, Joe is just repeating the same cycle, and you want to yell at him through the screen. Ming's character continues to be so interesting and I am loving seeing everyone's analysis of this show. For me though, it's Joe. I love a character who at his core is so kind. He's willing to go through his past traumas for a woman he doesn't actually know, but has embraced as his own mother. At the same time, he is stuck making the wrong decisions which hurt him and the people around him.

💟- Wandee Goodday (ep 4): This show is continuing strong for me. I like how every single person in this show continues to clock them for acting like a couple. I also like the dynamic of them talking about their crushes and feeling a little bit of jealousy around that. All in all prime content. I'm interested to get more of both of their families backgrounds, especially Yak's. As always give my man Kao more screen time and a love interest <3

🥘- What did you eat yesterday? (S1 Ep 7-8): I finally can return to this show! Shiro lowkey a new comfort character he just like me for real: loves a deal, loves to cook and has control issues in the kitchen, cannot express his emotions so uses acts of service and gifts instead, etc.). Anyways give me more shows with established couples working through everyday life please!

🎬- At 25:00, in Akasaka (Ep 1-3): This show had a strong start for me. I love shows where the characters are actors. By the end of the show I'll decide whether I think I would have watched the show they're filming lol. Shirasaki took method acting to a whole new level like he really is committed. Also clearly Hayama is already so down bad, like he is fully taking advantage of this method acting and having the time of his life. I'm excited to see where it goes and get the backstory of why Hayama is so attached to him.... Also the cuddling and intimate talking scene at the end of episode 3 was really good, like how are they already acting like this. Finally, if I could transport all of Hayama's outfits to my closet my life would be complete

🏡-Living With Him (Ep 1): I got my gagaoolala subcription again and wanted to make full use of it! So far it's pretty good set up (I have to admit though, childhood friends is one of my least favourite tropes don't kill me)...another show where one of the characters is dowwnnnn bad. Personally, if my roommate kept being like "Hey, there's just no way you got broken up with I'm going to closely observe you to find your flaws" and I wasn't in love with them I would be so annoyed. Also I can't like "I've never done this with a girlfriend I avoided touching them as much as possible" PLS SIR

🥟- She Loves to Cook, She Loves to Eat (Ep 15): This show is too good like they're so cute texting each other. Another wild lesbian appears! And offers her a wlw watch party! Is this my dream? Kasuga saying Nomoto had a fire in her for talking with a stranger on the internet lol. I made cabbage rolls like this once and they were fire and now I'm inspired to make them again.

📚- Abbott Elementary (S3, Ep 14): NOOOO I need more, I'm so sad this season is done. I just want to watch this every week for the end of time. But honestly, 10/10 episode and 10/10 ending...I was really wrong about them dragging out the love story another season but I'm not mad about it...If I was at the party I think I would travel between the board games area and the dance floor lol

👽- 3 Body Problem (Ep 3): Alright, I like the more backstory we got this episode and more context of what the game is for and who the people that were contacted last episode are. I'm still interested in seeing how the game/fleet of ships from the other planet is connected to scientists being forced to stop their work. It ended on such a cliff hanger too which really leads me to believe that the true nature or goal of the organization recruiting people through the game is a lot more sinister than they let on. I think it's probably that they are recruiting the brightest from Earth who will be allowed to stay and help transition the new arrivals while everyone else on Earth will not be allowed to stay. I'm still sort of confused and am wondering if we will get anymore flashbacks to the past to see how Mike Evans is involved. It also lowkey ended on such a cliff hanger.

📝- Bridgerton (S3, Ep 1): Bridgerton is BACK! I think I've had half this show spoiled to me already but I don't mind. This episode gave me exactly what I was expecting from a Bridgerton show so I'm not complaining. I like the set up of the conflict of Penelope shading Colin through Lady Whistledown, that definitely won't come back right? Also, I feel like Colin didn't actually travel anywhere, his travel stories just don't seem to be adding up. Kate and Anthony are also cute, and I may be delulu but I am a Cressida/Eloise shipper.

👯‍♀️- Hello, My Twenties (S1, Ep 5): Me and my gf go back and forth on choosing the show we're watching and this is her pick. I am a fan because I love any show set in University and a show about 5 girls living together during University is perfect. I once lived in a house with 6 girls so a lot of this show is relatable. Like this episode really captures the essence of how fun it is to plan a party and decorate for it with your roommates. Some of the editing choices confuse me and sometimes this show feels very much like it was made in 2016, but it's fun.

🏫- Degrassi (Ep 74-80?): Me and my roommate have been slowly making our way through the 400+ episodes of the Canadian icon that is Degrassi. We are almost done season 4, and this whole season has had so many heavy topics discussed, and as per usual Degrassi I think does a pretty good job at exploring them and balancing between being informational and entertaining without feeling exploitative, it's truly the pioneer. Right now, there's a teacher-student romance arc though so I'm hating that...

Overall, a pretty good week...this year has been pretty mid so far (with a few exceptions) for me with TV shows but I feel like it's starting to pick up so that's exciting!

Hi Cat! May I ask you to rank S5 episodes aired so far? and what did you like the most about each of them?

Finally getting around to answering this now that s5 is officially over. Overall, I'd say s5 was definitely not as bad as people have made it out to be, and I'll share my full thoughts on it later and go over some of the notes I took upon rewatching, but I'd say this season on average was pretty mid? Adrinette hard carried a lot of episodes that otherwise were just okay. Again, I've said it a bunch, and I'll say it a bunch more times, ML's biggest problem is pacing. S5 is probably the most ambitious season of this show by far, and they crammed a shit ton into this one season that would have been more digestible if it were spread out I think.

But anywho, I'll discuss more later. For now, here is my episode rankings for season 5! The ratings are rough, and I will likely adjust them to be a bit more specific when I eventually do my complete episode ranking with all the other seasons, but for now these ratings correspond to how I relate just the s5 episodes to each other. None of them got a 10, and tbh most of these eps sit around 6-7/10, so ranking them was actually kind of hard because as I said, Adrinette hard carried some of these eps, and I just did not care for the other things going on in them. Okay, here we go:

Protection: 9.5/10

Anyone who knows me or is in any way familiar with me probably knows why this episode is here. The picnic will go down as one of Adrinette's iconic moments. The whole set-up was incredibly sweet, and I could stare at that scene for hours.

2. Emotion: 9/10

Outside of thinking that Felix should have come back sooner and that perhaps this should have been the mid-season conflict rather than the Kwami's Choice eps (I'll talk more about why in another post eventually), I really liked this episode. I love how much Marinette has grown. I enjoyed Felix being a lil gremlin man. Idk, I liked it.

3. Elation: 8.5/10

"Cat, but you always shit talk MC-"

Incorrect. I shit talk toxic stans. I'd be lying if I said seeing those two losers kiss didn't make me feel things. I also appreciated the realness of this ep on why they couldn't be together, and that Chat Noir/Adrien had enough respect for Marinette to realize that there was a power imbalance between them. It was very sexy of him.

4. Revolution: 8.5/10

This one honestly surprised me being this high, but so much shit happened in this episode. Like I needed to sit for a sec after watching it because it was a lot to process. While I was rewatching it, I had moments where I was like wait, is this a new episode? But then I'd remember, nope. It's still the same one where all this other shit happened. And weirdly, it didn't feel too rushed? A lot of episodes this season felt like they were moving a million miles a minute and rushing to get to the point, but I felt like for as much shit as went down in this episode, it flowed pretty well.

Also, I'm Adrinette trash so of course I'm gonna rank their first kiss high fucking sue me

Also, hardly anyone talked about the LadyNoir power up! Like hello???

5. Deflagration: 8/10

I know I just dunked on the Kwami's Choice arc, and I will probably do it again because these two episodes were HARD carried by Adrinette. I didn't care about Kitty Noire or Scarabella at all. Their fight was lame, why the fuck did they start talking like that, just, ugh-anyway. I felt like part 2 was the stronger of the two episodes, and not just because of the Ladrien crumb! (though the ladrien crumb was v nice) I enjoyed the Resistance swooping in to help. I enjoyed Marinette outsmarting Gabriel. I enjoyed Adrien ripping the earrings off his dad like how dare you touch her things, you crusty eggplant. I liked the Adrinette scene in the cafeteria. I dunno. I don't think giving up their Miraculous was really necessary, but I appreciated several of the moments in this episode.

6. Passion: 8/10

So, in prior seasons I came to really not care for Nathalie when she was simping for Gabriel, but I gained a lot more respect for her this season. I just kind of wish she'd been like that from the beginning. There to make sure Gabriel doesn't go too far, someone to love Adrien and carry out his and Emilie's wishes. I wouldn't have minded even if GabeNath happened as a result if they were able to talk Gabriel down from his madness and truly let Emilie go in the end. But alas, we didn't. I loved the Adrinette moment in this episode where Adrien just immediately tells her what's wrong. It was such a huge step for him as someone who usually just buries his feelings. And the kwami swap was much better this go round.

7. Jubilation: 7.5/10

My cat is sleeping on my notes, but I remember enjoying this episode. A thought that I had in regards to the fantasy that they saw is that the gift sees beyond the masks, even if they don't. Like, yes, of course they want a life together because they're soulmates. They just can't quite see the whole picture yet. Idk how to explain it, but anyway, it was a cute episode. The nightmare children need to be burned at the stake, but overall, it was nice.

8. Transmission: 7.5/10

Listen. I did not give a single fuck about the new heroes, and their battle was very anticlimactic and lame, but god dammit, the Adrinette in this episode! Adrien audibly recognizing he shouldn't have played with her feelings as Chat Noir. Him seeing his photos in her trash can and telling her he loves her! The motherfucking hand game! Nothing else happened in that ep. It was just them.

9. Determination: 7.5/10

I absolutely loved seeing Adrinette go all pink sparkles when he looked at Marinette, and how Kagami was like stop being a fucking wuss and ask her on a date. As much as I cannot with the statue scene, I loved that Adrien was just like lol yeahhh you kissed me, it was kind of awesome. Like baby boy XD I liked him being lowkey jealous and wanting to be more with Marinette and trying his damnedest to get closer to her when she was freaking out. His patience with her this season has been so sweet.

LN stans can roast me all they want, idc, but I have a lot of thoughts about her switching her affection to CN. Not to say that she doesn't genuinely have feelings for him because I think she definitely does deep down, but I have always seen her pursuit of him this season as a means to run away from her problems. (i.e. her feelings for Adrien) Because she never got over Adrien, and that much was obvious. And Alya even called her on her bullshit. Marinette was trying to force herself to stop loving Adrien by throwing herself at Chat Noir, and while her feelings for him might stem from a genuine place of love for him, she was trying to love him for the wrong reasons. Rather than it being a natural thing, it felt very much like she was only doing it because she thought it would be easier, and she was refusing to face and process what had happened as a result of her loving Adrien. I just wish that the reversal were handled differently. She can and absolutely does love Chat Noir, but in this context, it just felt a little cheap to me. Not as genuine because she was still clearly hung up on Adrien and avoiding that.

10. Multiplication: 7/10

We have reached 6-7/10 territory. A loooot of eps are in this range, so it was actually pretty difficult to rank. I went solely on vibes for this section. Any single scene that sticks out in my memory for each episode were the breaking points on these.

Idk why, but I liked this episode. I loved the scenes of Adrien trying to greet Marinette. I loved everyone getting progressively more bored with waiting for Monarch to show up again. It was cute.

11. Derision: 7/10

Do I think this backstory should have come way, way, way, WAY sooner? Yes. Like s1-s2 sooner. Did I still slurp up all of the Adrinette anyway? ...Well, I'm only human.

12. Evolution: 7/10

I actually skipped this episode in my rewatch to save time because I know it's solid. Bunny Cat was cute. Seeing Gabriel fucking wreck himself because he's an idiot was funny. Alix being the GOAT was fun. Yeah. It was a nice start to the season.

13. Pretension: 7/10

I'm not a Feligami hater like some people. I think it was a bit rushed, but I think that's more of an issue with ML's general struggle with pacing rather than a reflection on the viability of their relationship. I liked seeing how Felix has a softer side because he was always meant to be morally grey. Emotion talked about that a little bit. He had no dog in the fight between Gabriel and LB/CN. He has his own motives for doing what he does, and he's not a bad person, just has done some questionable things to get what he wants. And I think Kagami would be good for him. I loved her roasting him and kicking his ass (and he loved it too).

14. Confrontation: 6.5/10

As the pilot of the Lila downfall plane, you'd think this episode would rank higher, but like, listen. Was Marinette's plan very sneaky and big brained? Yes. Did I enjoy seeing them get caught? Yes. Did this shit need to happen way sooner? Yes! The fact that Alya said with her whole chest in the episode before, "You know we're always ready to believe you." When she fucking wasn't? Like, bitch, your bestie is LADYBUG. Perhaps if she doesn't like someone, recognize that it's for a good ass reason? And I hated how dismissive they were of Adrien when he tried to speak up in that scene too. My honest reaction to Lila being outed was just fucking finally. I rank this one lower as well because they cut a small moment that I wish they fucking hadn't where everyone apologizes to and hugs Marinette after they're exposed. Because they fucking gaslit her for months about this bitch, and she absolutely deserved that apology!

15. Collusion: 6/10

Ya know, I'm not much one to care about Andre. They really tried to paint him as a victim this season, and I just was not there for it. It's okay for him to just suck too. They're all rich, sucky people. It's okay to just say that.

A note I did make that I might talk about later is on the topic of Chloe and her alleged redemption that everyone is mad about and how Astruc just hates Chloe, and I'm not going to say he doesn't. I just think that overall what happened there is when they started planning out future seasons, it was more plot convenient for her to be mean than it was for them to put in the effort to redeem her fully. And looking at some of the other redemptions they've done in this show, we know they would have botched it anyway. They kept her mean because it served their purposes for making things happen. That's it.

16. Revelation: 6/10

For reasons mentioned above in Confrontation, I ranked this episode lower because I wanted to fucking strangle everyone. Everyone in that god damn class knows Chloe is a bitch and always will be. The fact that they all turned on Marinette, including fucking Alya who knows she's FUCKING LADYBUG just ugh. Honestly, when their future plans got fucked in the next episode, I was lowkey like GOOD. Suffer, dumbass bitches! It's what you get! But I'm also just really petty, and I wanted to see Lila finally get shut the fuck up.

17. Adoration: 6/10

This one was fine? Let's go lesbians, I guess. Idk, in comparison to the myriad of other shit going on in s5, this one just felt like filler. Gabriel is an asshole, what else is new? I kind of wish Marinette got a better confession, since, ya know, we've been waiting for it since s1. I wish it were a bigger moment and more heartfelt, but like, eh, I guess.

18. Intuition: 6/10

Seeing Gabriel fuck himself over was nice. Other than that, it was just okay. Get dunked on, you moldy cheeto dust of a human being.

19. Perfection: 6/10

"Cat, did you rank this episode this low because of Adrien's cringy-ass song?"

AND I'D DO IT AGAIN! And the fight was kinda boring. I love Kagami, and she deserved the love in the end, but like c'mon.

20. Illusion: 6/10

A big thing I noted from this episode that became kind of a recurring thing throughout s5 is the illusion of choice. I'll talk more about it in my s5 analysis, but I think that illusion of choice extends to Gabriel's wish too in the end. I did love Nathalie fucking bodying him the second Adrien walked away. It's what he deserves.

21. Destruction: 6/10

This one was fine, I guess. I wasn't super into the format of it being a flashback that Marinette was explaining to Alya at their sleepover after the fact? And that it kind of just glossed over them Cataclysming Monarch, since that was kind of an important thing for this season. ML made some weird choices for big moments throughout this season that kind of cheapened the impact, imo. Idk. Baby girl is smart and all that, we been knew.

22. Representation: 5.5/10

Adrien fighting his dad was the highlight of this episode. You go off, king. The play was incredibly info-dumpy, and I feel like this information should have been spread out more organically. Rather than hinting at all of this shit in s3-4, they should have just sprinkled in these details as actual confirmation back then rather than dumping it all in our laps now.

23. Reunion: 5/10

Listen, this episode wasn't bad, and Adrien being a horse girl is funny, but in the context of this season and compared to the other episodes, this one is honestly just filler. Like, it's cool lore, but feels a bit out of place in this season, especially because she didn't call on her past holders for advice on how to like, idk fight her villain, she called on her for love advice. Just felt very unserious in the context of this season.

24. Conformation: 5/10

This one was fine-ish? The whole finale is definitely the weakest finale we've had. And I've ranked Miracle Queen in my bottom 10, yall. This is saying something. I'll go ahead and continue in my next point because

25. Re-Creation: 4.5/10

Both of the finale eps were just... They happened? I feel like they were pulling at too many threads bringing in everyone the way they did. I feel like the perfect alliance thing was an okay choice? I kind of dislike that Adrien was just no where to be fucking seen for most of these episodes. I know a lot of people are upset that he doesn't know about his dad, and there was no reveal between him and Marinette. Which, no identity reveal, I can live with, but I feel like letting Gabriel make his wish was such a weird choice. I'll talk more about it later, but we've been following this show since s1 and rooting for Ladybug and Chat Noir, and they just let the villain get what he wanted? And you can argue that he didn't really get what he wanted because he died or whatever, but like he got the Miraculouses and made a wish. Stop being obtuse about it. Like what is the ultimate lesson here? What's the message? I'm willing to give s6 a chance, but my future with this show is going to depend on how they unpack some of the fallout of this finale.

And for those arguing over Emilie v Amelie in the ending scene, it was Emilie in the original script and storyboard, and her memorial statue is gone, meaning they no longer have to memorialize her because she's not dead, so unless they randomly decided to not bring her back last minute, that bitch is his mom. Also, they removed a scene where she and Adrien smile at each other, but I digress

26. Migration: 4/10

I'm not going to explain this one, but anyone that knows me, knows why this one is here, and why I didn't care about this episode.

Anywho, my biggest takeaways from this season were that it was a bit too ambitious at times, and I think in general it lacked a lot of the heart of ML. Big moments we've been waiting for fell flat because they got lost in the mess of them trying to cram storylines we should have been getting this whole time into one season. It's not a bad season, and I think it is definitely a step in the right direction. ML just needs to get better about pacing its story arcs so that it maximizes its time and doesn't have to rush through shit to get their point across.

2. episode 04: deep magenta. I CAN'T BE NORMAL ABOUT THIS EPISODE IM SORRY I SIMPLY CAN'T. every single scene just makes me mentally deranged in ways so profound they will only become apparent years down the line like shy!puen!!!!! the glasshouse!!!!! "so, will they fall in love?" "i guess they will"!!!!! puen comforting talay!!!!! THE WEDDING!!!!! the way they look at each other at that wedding!!!!! THE KISS!!!!! I feel so stupid I don't get it! >_< Not the politics part (though extremely rushed those threads were still pretty clear) but the sci-fi/fan elements are throwing me for a loop. The combining thing that Suletta and Eri did to shut down the interplanetary laser beam thing ... isn't that just Quiet Zero by a different name. Is the difference just that they are now both in control of it instead of Eri alone or ... what. And also the presentation of the ending is telling me that this is meant to be a synthesis of Suletta and Eri's wishes ... but I don't see how enduring an even more restricted and dehumanized existence for Eri while Elnora withers away is anything like what she wanted. Or Elnora for that matter though in her case not getting what she wants seems to be the point since villain and all. I just ... a lot of the sci-fi/fan elements as well as the thematic and emotional catharsis elements are just not making much sense to me. I've read a few of your posts on the show so I thought might as well ask for help. Sorry if this is a bother.

Good question. I must admit that a lot of the more technobabble stuff I'm not super clear on, so maybe a rewatch will clear some of this up, but I'll give it my best shot. As I understand it, the Quiet Zero plan was to utilize Eri's Permet score of 8 to expand the Data Storm and create a place where she could live, but would expand throughout the whole Earth sphere and control everything with Permet. By contrast, what Suletta and Eri do in the final episode is to create massive data storm that shuts down the interplanetary laser. So while the Quiet Zero plan was to create a permanent data storm, what they did was create a temporary one that destroyed the laser and ended Quiet Zero.

As far as what Eri wants, this is something that is a bit of an open question throughout the series. A lot of the communication came from the Gund bit clones rather than from the original Eri. We do know that she desired for Suletta to live freely. I also think she cared enough about her mother that she didn't want to see her die, so Suletta's plan allowed Elnora to live while in the Quiet Zero plan she would have died even if she managed to give Eri more freedom.

As far as being a more restricted and dehumanized existence, I think it cuts both ways. She no longer is running around controlling a Gundam, but she also can communicate her feelings and desires much more clearly. We see her talking regularly with both Suletta and Miorine in the epilogue which wasn't really something possible for her before. So while she doesn't necessarily have freedom of movement, I think being able to have real relationships with your loved ones is probably pretty important to her.

I think a big takeaway from the ending is supposed to be that family and friends are both important, not just one or the other. Prospera and Ericht both assert at different points in the last two episodes that Suletta already has friends so she doesn't need them anymore, and Suletta completely pushes against that and argues that she wants them in her life alongside her friends. And in the epilogue we see that Eri and Miorine now have a familial bond as well, and then we get the end with all of the Earth House kids showing up to Suletta and Miorine's side. That's just my interpretation of all this, so I hope this helps out.

I wrote a comment in r/SupermanAndLois awhile ago, where I mentioned how I’d one day get around to writing out an analysis on Jon’s character and his relationships. I have reposted that on my blog, but it’s largely irrelevant, except to say that I intended to.

The thing is, my original plan was to rewatch the previous two seasons, while taking some thorough notes on Jon’s personality and his relationships, and how those connections tie into his reactions and reflect his personality.

This never happened - despite starting my essay last year - because every time I tried going through a rewatch, I…got too upset.

It was one thing watching the first seasons, hoping for the last few episodes of season 2 - in the break after the ep. with the Barn Scene, wherein it seemed things were at last going to be addressed for Jon and begin to change for the better - to be what we hoped, in comparison with rewatching after…S2.

To sum it up: I couldn’t get through them.

Still, I did get somewhere with my analysis, and I’d like to hear any thoughts others may have in response. It’s really very little, when not posting my messy, unedited ramblings, but essentially: do you know Enneagram types? I’m actually not that familiar with it, aside from knowing things about my own. But when I was considering what and how to write the essay I’d mapped out, I thought a look at other personality analyses could be useful for kickstarting the process. So I went to the website. I remembered thinking of the profile and analysis on my type, how I’d been shocked at how accurate it all felt; which is why it’s what came to mind. I didn’t expect to actually find a type that fit Jon, but well.

Jon seems like a 3w2, in my opinion, and Jordan an 8, although I didn’t dive deep enough into the latter’s to determine wing.

Also: consider that some of the ‘unhealthy’ levels explained actually match Bizzaro!Jon.

There’s a lot to read and agree or disagree with, depending on how you, personally, interpret Jon’s characterization. For me, I found these excerpts quite striking:

Ranking the DCLA WLW ships

Many people prefer canon, and I get that. But there's one thing that non-canon ships give me and that is the comfort that they are exactly what they are. Especially the WLW ships. I never assume they will be canon, but I can love them all I want either way <3

I will not take every single dcla wlw ship, cause with all the girl characters there's so many combinations you can do. I will only take the ones I've seen, or recognized myself.

1. Franletta

Obviously. How can I not? I've not been crowned the biggest Franletta shipper in the fandom for nothing! They give me the softness no one else does. The way they always depend on each other, the way they care for each other SO MUCH <33 GAH they're adorable

2. Jam

I'm taking my two biggest from each show here. When I started watching SL, everyone expected me to just like the three biggest ships. NO ONE told me about Jim and Yam. HOW COULD YOU NOT tell me about Jim and Yam?! Smh you're sleeping on them (/hj, /lh)

But yeah, I think a part of what drove me with loving them so much was that no one else talked about them. Yes, people agreed they were girlfriends, but no one was as vocal. I am currently also the only one who even has written fics with them tagged romantically - something I did after I discovered after finishing season 1, I was really surprised how no one had written about them? So I took it in my own hands and wrote some.

Jam are my little chaos children, they're jin and yang and they're everything to me.

3. Luty

The year was 2021 and I had been starting to rewatch Violetta after getting D+. With my newly love for Franletta, I also thought about the others. I thought to myself "Hey! Maybe Naty stays with Ludmila, not because she's afraid to say no, but because she actually likes her? Maybe she even has a crush on her?"

Cut to when I rewatched S3, which had not been out until april of 2021 in the Nordic countries. I just. Fell for them. OH how I fell for them.

They make me insane honestly.

4. Natila

In season 3, something I really noticed was that the REAL love triangle was between Naty, Camila and Ludmila. And Naty and Camila DATED. They DATED in s3. OH MY GOD HOW THEY DATED. THEY FUCKING KISSED OFF SCREEN!!!!!!!!!! LIKE I AM STILL MIND BLOWN OVER THAT. WHEN I SAW IT I JUST WENT INSANE.

5. Ambilia

THE GOTH GIRLFRIENDS honestly they're everything. They're insane. It's them against the world. They'll go from the ashes and into the fire. They're a power couple.

6. Lumbar

"But but but but-" I hear you go. Yes, yes, yes, I know. These two gave a fucking crisis in s3. But I fell for them SO HARD in season 1 it was a wound that never got away. Season 1 FED me with them, S2 also fed me a lot, and then in season 3 I just went around with a "🥲". At least, they ended up being very close in one way <3

7. Cadmila

Love the enemies to lovers. I don't feel as strongly about them as the other two in the "unholy trinity", I sometimes feel like Cadmila is the female version of Dieleon (but not with everything). But it's also how Ludmila just plays with Cami's hair, always sits close to her and how Camila is like "get tf away from me" but highkey interested in what Ludmila is doing.

8. Mora/Ana

They moved in together?? This was a whole storyline and tbh I am fully convinced the writers actually wanted them to be a couple, it's not just my imagination.

9. Jadangie

10. Jackie/Angie

They would never date in canon but GOD are they exes. They're bickering exes, look at them. First episode of s2, you can't deny they've met before and something went down and now they pretend they don't know each other. The ANGST.

When watching Bia, I was like "I really feel a straight vibe from every character" and all of you, and I mean ALL OF YOU, went "But what about Celeste?". I was confused because I was at the ep where Celeste told her therapist that she had a crush on a boy so I was like ???????????????????

But then the SECOND I saw s2, I had a 180 spin and went "OH OK SHE'S A LESBIAN" and her obsession with Trish was really like. !!!!!!! WOW. And when she met Trish irl and just scratched her neck I just. Yeah. Yeah I got it.

12. Lunina

Ok, I really do like them as just friends, but if they were more I also wouldn't complain. I just like to joke a little about them, but I am not as serious about it as I am with ships above on the list.

This is the one wlw ship where I don't really get it. But I've seen it around. And during my SL rewatch I've tried to see it, but I don't see much. I think it's whenever they're alone together they sort of have a matching vibe and that's what appeals to people? I don't know.

What has been the BL that took you by surprise this year?

Secret Crush on You was so unique i just kept laughing at the insane sexual chemistry combined with the "what if he doesn't like me"; daisy, touch and som were everything to me; i watched it cause of positive reviews tho, wasn't there while it was airing

i got to experience Big Dragon Season 1 though - went into it intending to enjoy it after 3eps were out but i got really attached to mangkorn, yai and their relationship; wasn't interested in the nsfw scenes, just yai's big brown eyes

What has been the BL that you felt a bit disappointed with this year?

The Eclipse - truth is i initially loved it, definitely had fun with the later eps too but took issue with the pacing (some things time was spent on vs quick wrap up); plus the trailer vibe was quite different -not inherently bad, just smth that disappointed me a bit; i acknowledge the show was definitely not made for me though 📏

What has been your favorite BL this year?

KinnPorsche - i enjoyed it immensely while it was running - now im annoyed with it; the acting was great, the chemistry was undeniable, the plot was exciting, had me gripping my chair

10 BLs Worth Sticking With Despite the Start

Sometimes I had to really stick with a show despite myself to make it trough. In a few instances, I actually dropped a show and then someone convinced me to try again. 

1. 2gether

It’s not secret that I think GMMTV’s big guns 2gether is overrated. But it tops this list because I think I had to try this BL 6X before finally getting though the first 3 episodes. Honestly, had there been any other new BLs (there wasn’t much back then) I probubly never would have watched 2g. I absolutely loathe the character of Green, such a caricature of predatory gay, not to mention punching down humor on femme. I have real issues with the start of this show. But I actually kinda enjoyed the rest of it. 

2. DNA Says Love You

I really did not like the first episode of this recent Taiwanese drama. I think it has to so with the fact that Amber isn’t introduced until the very end, and he holds this BL down. But even saying that, the first half of this series drags for me. I’m just not into the paranormal investigator aspect, I find it boring. 

3. He’s Coming To Me 

I just remember finding it pretty dull until the two leads get together as adults, and I only ever rewatch the second half. 

4. Oh Boarding House! 

In general Japan and Korea are pretty good on their hooks (they don’t have as much time for fart around with as Thailand). But I wasn’t into this one as it didn’t know if it wanted to be a sitcom or a BL. Once it decided to be a KBL I really enjoyed it, but I doubt I will ever rewatch the first few eps. 

5. Gameboys 

I could not get into the premies of this one. Too close to home in terms of quarantine at the time and also I’ve never been one for online gaming or dating. And I could not see how they would manage all chemistry dynamics with separated characters. They defied the odds, and I was impressed, but it took me a while and it’s not a rewatcher for me. 

6. HIStory 2 Right or Wrong 

An odd one to pick, but I think many are with me that it’s the neglectful parent aspect I found really off putting. I got over it because I like the pair dynamic so much, but it’s still hard to watch a single dad be that much of a deadbeat and still sympathize with him finding love. This is the reason I don’t rec it as much as I normal would for a BL that hits all my buttons (age gap, teacher student, out gay, accepting bi, tiny family). 

7. So Much In Love

One of those Thai pulps I don’t talk about much because its hard to find and not good. Except... I really liked the premise, I enjoyed the leads and the horror elements. It’s on this list because I am glad I gave it a chance and stuck with it. And if it ever got picked up by GaGa I would probubly watch it again. 

8. Ingredients the series

Ooof it’s so SLOOOOOWWWWWWW. But then, I switched off that part of my brain and was like, ahhh.... this is the bubble bath BLs, just relax and enjoy. 

9. Love Sick 

Becha didn’t guess this one? Look, go back and rewatch that first ep. OMG is it lousy. Nothing happens, it’s chaos, there’s too much time spent on other couples. It’s a terrible opener. Fair though, because it didn’t know what it was, or what it was doing yet because it was the one to break that ground in Thailand. 

10. Why R U?

Topping the list. What can I say? I HATED SaifahZon. Like deeply disliked Tommy’s character in the first ep, their dynamic, just everything about them, and originally were to lead-out this show out. I didn’t like it at all until the focus turned to FighterTutor. And honestly it was mostly Zee who won me over. (Those soft soft eyes of his.) Have I come around to SaifahZon? Mostly... I still prefer FIghterTutor tho. 

 Honorable Mention

Secret Crush On You - I basically had to stop/start, fast forwards, finagle my way through the first 6 eps of this show. And some of the rest of it too. It’s too cringey for me, yet the queer rep is so wonderful. The struggle is real.

Triage - it’s airing right now and I never rec a BL I haven’t finished. But I hated the time loop premise going in (I am NOT a fan of Groundhog Day). ALSO I had seen and actively disliked the short it’s based off. ALSO I was never a huge fan of this lead pair. And yet it was just high enough concept and well enough done in a medical setting (my weakness) for me to REALLY TRY... It took me three eps to get into, but now it’s one of my current favorites. I hope they land it well, it’s really pretty special. 

Vietnamese BL in general. Look they don’t really have a system down yet, so they often open a little weak, slow, or awkward. Because this is their style, I kinda always give the a pass on the first few episodes. But we all have to be okay with this if we are going to watch VBL because it doesn’t seem to be changing anytime soon.
