Thinking about how the Tower & the Adversary routes are connected through the Fury, and how you kind of get there by turning one into the other, and how horrified they are by what they become. Tower is about subjugation - she outright says she does not believe the two of you are on equal footing. You get the Fury from her when you assert your independence and fight back, forcing her to take you seriously as a threat and defend herself. Adversary is all about an equal fight - she prides herself on her strength, but also admires yours. You access the Fury through her by refusing to fight, watching her beat you to a pulp and become disgusted by what she does to you. IDK it is interesting how the Tower & Adversary parallel one another, and how you end up with the Fury in each route by doing what their sister route would have wanted you to do.

I mentioned briefly in my Xenoblade 3 critique that Xenoblade X handled the theming of people in power exploiting the general populace better than 3. Now the Q&A in 3's art book is out there people are talking about this explanation.

I wanna elaborate on why the concept worked better in X:

It's not the primary antagonist.

That's it. That's the reason.

While X's primary antagonists, the Ganglion, leave...something to be desired, (as does the story in general) this overarching theme is used to push the cast.

Because it's not the elite directly confronting them; it's the result of their actions that put everyone in this situation. You don't need the big wigs preaching to everyone to get the point across. This story is about how the people are affected.

Lao has been so deeply hurt by all this, it drives him to seek revenge. The concept created a villain (and the best character in the game).

This can even apply to the Ganglion, who were created as slaves and want to wipe out their masters descendants (the failsafe) so they can truly be free.

Compare that with 3. I'm sorry but an ideology alone just doesn't make an enticing villain. There's no motivation, no drive, it's just constant and blatant dehumanizing and it gets boring.

All the Moebius you fight, there's no character. There's not supposed to be, after all they're a collective, an idea, even called a concept in-game.

It's why villains like N, Shania and Joran stand out. Even though they're not amazing, they add something personal to the idea, they attach it to an actual character. (Although even in those cases, it's more of a background element since their shtick mostly has to do with revenge on the protags...)

With the rest of Moebius, it's just a fear of dying that drove them to power and to keep it. Nothing else is really said, even by the head honcho and final boss, Z.

Takahashi really did look at the villains and go "let's make so you only ever see the evil surface."

So yeah. That's why X did it better.

I think Heartcatch suffers from the Up phenomenon in that people remember it as an excellent, if not flawless masterpiece when it actually has One (1) excellent, if not flawless moment in the beginning and is otherwise nothing special.

Can’t remember if I reblogged that screenshot of the rotten tomatoes fnaf rating that’s like, fans screaming “it’s not for you!”

Because I just watched the fnaf movie.

Truly, it was not for the layman. 😂 I enjoyed it. I’m not sure I would classify it as a good movie, but it was technically wonderful and I greatly appreciated the seriousness and care that the filmmakers took with it. It could’ve so easily just been a shitty jumpscare mess but they took the time to actually build it up. The lore is different (from what I understand) but I liked that they reworked it into a story that better fit the film medium. Bc let’s face it, fnaf lore is long, insane, and complicated as hell. But the film told a structured story that, yeah, maybe some filmgoers will enjoy more than others by virtue of knowing what the actual lore is, but I’m one of those people. So I liked it. 😂

Only complaint is, of all the little Easter eggs and musical cues, I’m sad that we didn’t get to hear the music box toreador march. 😢

Sewerhell Sunday again

Uhhhh post-Ruin/Mimic encounter, Cassie becomes friends with all of Mimic's previous guards very quickly. This is especially the case in situations where they helped guide her and Roxy into defeating Mimic.

The other three guards were the original Roxy, Mangle and the first Foxy. The last time these three dealt with Mimic, it tore Mangle and Foxy's friendship apart. Foxy genuinely hates both of them for what happened and they hate him in return but they all agree that Cassie is more important.

Cassie doesn't blame any of them for what happened before or what happened to her. She's the most sympathetic human they've ever met. Roxy's original (now mostly known as Rockabella or Bella/Rocky for short) in particular was brought to tears within minutes of their first meeting, that's how good she is to them. She understands they struggle to get along and makes a point to hang out with all three of them.

In the setup where the manager fucks the security up and Sewerhell breaks loose, the three older guards end up with an interesting bond with Roxy too. These are the only three animatronics in existence that know the full extent of what she's had to deal with for years and unsurprisingly, that's something she's needed for a very long time. Mangle adopted her as a little sister almost immediately, Bella was a bit slower, offering support but also not really knowing what to do, and while Roxy knows that this Foxy hates her by association, she also has a sneaking suspicion he's taking a slow and gradual shine to her. He's threatened to kill her. She's completely unphased. He's never once even so much as poked her, never mind hurt her.

Honestly, he's got beef with a lot of Sewerhell guys, there's a lot of people telling both Roxy and Cassie to be careful around him. He doesn't really know what to do with these two. He wouldn't hurt Cassie, but he could hurt Roxy. He could! He swears he could! It would take nothing to beat the shit out of her! He could do it!

He's also a fucking liar! Who woulda thought?

today at lunch UNPROMPTED my friend was like “why don’t you have an accent like your mom” and it’s like it was so out of nowhere for no reason. And I was like wdym so she was like your mom has a Spanish accent and when I was like I don’t really notice it I don’t think it’s that strong she was like “that’s because you live with her”. that honestly had me pressed bc like first of all my moms English is amazing she is like completely fluent and has not had any problems in the OVER 20 years she has lived in this country. But also like English is my first language wdym why don’t I have an accent of someone who’s esl.
