Lil Uzi Vert came out as non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, even when they knew that a lot of their fans would never use it or even respect them for it. Auntie Diaries, a song about a young man who grew up in a transphobic environment and bought into those beliefs, but could never fully do it because his Uncle loved him so much and taught him a lot of life lessons, and that wisdom translated to him accepting his cousin as a woman as well.

Drake is none of that.

He's the perfect representation of what people think hip-hop is. Flexing. Posturing. Objectifying women. A fucker so insecure he bought 2Pac's ring just to feel like he's part of the black community. example: character A is violent and makes misogynistic comments. they're still charismatic and their arc is interesting to read/watch. person A acknowledges that the character is bad but they still enjoy consuming content from the character and they do so unapologetically. they're allowed to like the character, especially considering that literally everyone the character has harmed is also fictional. they don't pretend the character isn't violent, or misogynistic, they just like the character despite that. they post about it constantly. this is a neutral action that shows nothing about person A.

character B is a white man that makes racist comments, treats a black person in the show badly and gains money through anti-ethical means. they're still charismatic and their arc is interesting to read/watch. person B claims the character is flawed but overall misunderstood and all their actions are entirely justified. they're allowed to like the character, especially considering that literally everyone the character has harmed is also fictional. person B claims the black character that character B treated badly either had it coming or overreacted. all of person B's favorite characters are white men. person B goes out of their way to justify that all of their favorite characters are actually misunderstood and good people, and more people should like them. this shows that person B likely has some favoritism for white men.

Because queer/LGBT spaces are for ALL queer/LGBT people. Being LGBT/queer is the only prerequisite.

We aren't a monolith, remember? One of the foundational arguments for our rights is that we are just people like everyone else!

Queer people are capable of being Republicans and Democrats and doctors and nurses and teachers and racists and activists and philosophers, JUST LIKE THE STRAIGHTS. Just like everyone else! And it's our right to be treated with the same complexity and freedom to be as they are.

Most of the rest of the fandom just see any Alpha Troll and assume the worst, usually on purpose. People go brain dead and reactionary when you mention their existence.

Another part is Misogyny. We cannot overlook how often people who are Weird About Damara also think Rufioh is free of sin, or are confused when you say that he's a misogynist, because they just fully took everything he says about her as facts, or didn't even pay any mind to it. Boooooo.

Another part is that one of her main methods of lashing out is genuinely uncomfortable and just about no one is willing to get past that, half for good reason and half not. The good half is people rightfully pointing out how it's written like that for, like, super racist reasons, and the bad half is people saying "This is sexual harassment, and that's bad," which is true, but is often capped off with either implying or stating "and since she's done bad things, she's not actually a victim." I only see people connect the racism of Damara's writing to her hyper-sexuality, like, 50% of the time. Isn't that weird? Then again, this is the fandom that just cannot seem to grasp that the Makaras are written in an aggressively Anti-Black fashion, so I guess I shouldn't be fucking surprised.

It's funny, I decided to go into the ASOIAF tag yesterday for the first time in months and what do I find? Several posts about how "Bastards shouldn't inherit" or that "Bastards are EViL". If that is the brunt of your fucking argument then you all need to sit down and re-evaluate why your main argument relies on blood purity rhetoric and classism, and yes, often misogyny. "But...but...but..." you all must be saying "that's just how it was back then/in the books" and I have to answer with, "have you even read the books?" You know the books where almost all of the main protagonists and main characters are misfits and outcasts in some capacity? The books where GRRM is trying to dismantle the harmful prejudices put on people due to them being illegitimate, disabled, mentally ill, or women? The books where GRRM made it perfectly clear that the Dance only happened solely because Rhaenyra was a woman and nothing else and how that was clearly wrong? But how can I not be surprised considering the majority of you have never read the books or just misinterpreted them to fit your own prejudices. This fandom is truly toxic and supremely alienating and you all should be ashamed of yourselves for falling into this "Bastards are evil" bullshit. Do I have to remind you all that the main male protagonist in the books is a dark haired Targaryen bastard and many of you all root for him to become king, all the while simultaneously bad mouthing Rhaenyra's children, saying they shouldn't inherit, and laughing when they die? Talk about hypocritical. Anyway, if you are someone who is spouting vitriol against bastardry, touch some fucking grass, and re-evaluate why you are so passionately hateful against people being illegitimate. Don't know if this is the best place for this essay or the right time but I need to word-vomit this out, or I'm gonna be a JK-style spaced out zombie all day.

It's a truth universally acknowledged that a big part of the fandom tends to mis-characterize the members based on edits, fanfics and out-of-context clips. Something probably mostly to do with how social media platforms have been pushing for these short videos over the last few years. Why watch 300 hours of original content (some of which is behind a paywall) if you can get the gist of it (you think) from TikToks?

My particular point has to do with how that allows for the narrative (aka made up shit) especially around Jimin to grow. All of the members get that treatment, the maknaes worse due to their popularity, but due to how a big part of Army are also tkk shippers, Jimin is the one who's portrayal often skews more negative. The others' perceptions just are neutral or fantastical in a sense that they're more like badly written male leads. Don't get me wrong, solos throwing around bs is nothing singular to him but no one gets accused (said completely seriously btw) of sleeping his way into BTS or the release of his album.

After I saw this vitriol for the first time I had to actually sit down because wtf.

And then I started wondering why that is, and came to the conclusion that it is:

(Internalized) misogyny and sexism

Blatant homophobia

Jimin is the member the most obviously in tune of his femininity. He hasn't subscribed to gender norms for a decade at least, and once his hyper-masculine-esque persona from the debut days was dismissed, he ventured further. (That isn't to dismiss the growth they all have shown in that area.)

But antis, akgaes, Solos and shippers take that femininity and apply every stereotype and misogynistic idea to JM.

Traits they f.e. hate:

He is openly flirty with many people (members especially)

He is very physical, and touch is arguably one of his love languages and go-to way of comforting smn

He is pretty af and knows it

He's sensual and sexy and knows it

He's cute

He's sweet (aka a good fucking human)

But why does that make "them" hate him so much?

Because they have been taught that these traits in women (like themselves) are bad. What makes it worse, however, is that the men around JM all know these things to be true, acknowledge them as true and compliment him on them. In the case of JK (since this is about Jikook at the end of the day):

He loves flirty JM despite sometimes not knowing how to handle him (ehem the 'shameless convo'). He flirts back (fe the whole live where he was in bed begging for JM to come over)

Tkkers and such love pulling the "JK hates it" card. Which is nonsense, considering how he seeks JM's comfort when he's down (esp during concerts), actively cuddles JM (In The Soop) and never uses all his big muscles to shove JM but rather to just carry him around. Compare that to the jokingly disgusted face Yoongi pulls when Tae tries to hold his hand, and it becomes glaringly obvious that no one who says the members dislike touching each other has a leg to stand on. Calling it harassment goes so far beyond any line of sanity...

JK - like all of BTS - acknowledges that Jimin's beauty is simply out of this world. They are regularly stunned by his appearance

Just gonna point to JK's reaction to Filter, Blood Sweat & Tears, Black Swan, and Set Me Free pt 2 here. JK calls JM sexy so often it's hilarious

Jimin has been Jungkook's comfort person for so long, and with such depth that he dedicated a whole trip and video to him. They care for each other so deeply that the only logical conclusion was to go to the military together.

Aka: he is all that they hate in the girls/women in their normal life so they can't do nothing but tear him down. They envy how comfortable he seems in his own skin, how easily he goes from sexy to cute, how loved he is by those around him. On top of that is how gay people are still perceived and treated by a lot of countries around the world. No matter what they say, being an army and shipping men doesn't make you automatically an ally and non-homophobic.

They treat Jimin like they would most likely treat the lgtbqia+ people in real life: something to be careful of, someone dishonest and slutty.

They conflate everything they hate about themselves and gay people and * boom * out come frankly terrifying tweets, fanfics and shit.

Contrast that with how these very same people fetishize the relationship between Tae and Jungkook - either viewing them like men who watch p_rn involving two women, or a self-insert with how little character they have - and that's the state of the army shipping community. They could be Barbie dolls getting smashed together and you wouldn't know the difference.

I'm not saying Jikookers are better in that, but the language they tend to use is incredibly different.

things I hate most about the "don't drop the t because they'll never accept us anyways" regarding the lgb drop t conversation is that

a) lgb divorcing tq isn't about acceptance from heterosexuals but for safety and wellbeing of lgb which is being actively poached and hated on by tq, primary heterosexual people calling themselves "queer" in tq at that. it's about lesbians and bi women having genuine wlw spaces without males, and gay and bi men having genuine mlm spaces without females.

b) actually lgb was getting increasingly close to acceptance and rapidly so. opinions were (and fortunately still partially are) shifting not only hugely in 1st world countries but even in 2nd and 3rd world countries too. Homophobic laws were increasingly being unenforced. It was seriously getting better (and fortunately still is but at a slower pace).

TQ put a major spanner in those works and those progress, especially when people felt that by accepting lgb they had to accept some of the straight up misogynistic demands of tq (such as entry to women's school's, sports, DV shelters, universities, homeless shelters, prisons, and of course the famous bathroom topic) as well as the anti child wellbeing demands of wanting people to accept the use of puberty blockers, cross sex hormones, (and in some edge cases, surgery) on children.

Of course when people are learning that that their preconceived notions about homosexuals, and about homosexuals raising children have no basis in science, but to accept that they must also accept a movement shown to be inspiring suicidality in children, yea the homosexuals are gonna have a harder time of acceptance that would be partially mitigated by a divorce.

This idea that "you'll never 100% get what you want (despite lgb goals drawing nearer) so you must stay with us as we drag you further and further away from liberation" is fucking ridiculous and this black-and-white logic does not strike me as dissimilar to how cults / high control groups use "you'll never get what you want on the outside so you must stay with us" despite staying being to your detriment.
