I'm really sad about the TikTok ban...

I've never had any success on any other social media platform. I get like 0 engagement anywhere else it makes me really bummed.

"Bad" engagement for me is like 10k views on tt but everywhere else im lucky if someone even sneezes in the direction of something I post.

Literally just whining but I also genuinely like tt it's the most fun and engaging platform to me.

The birds are testing my last nerve

I finally figured out why the valley quail just... stopped laying. I was getting 10-12 eggs a week from them and it sloooooowly tapered off. I assumed the weather was fucking with them, and I'd just moved them to a new pen after they got out of quarantine, which can pause egg laying. I also saw feathers all over, so I assumed they were hashing out their pecking order after the move, even though I didn't see any bickering. They're molting 😩 seriously, why now? you should've molted months ago before I even got you! I have a waiting list for chicks but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ this is why I make no promises or guarantees beyond texting them when I have the birds available. I also did a Stupid and put my valley eggs in at almost the same time as my gambels. I will need to figure out a way to mark one of the two since they look identical as chicks. My finches also just finished molting - but only some of them. They're also being terrible parents. 1 pair laid 4 or 5 eggs but smashed 2 on the ground (button quail ate the evidence LOL) and hatched 2. They are doing OK raising the chicks but 2/5 is pretty bad. The other trio laid 4, hatched 3, then promptly let two of the babies freeze to death because they won't stay on the nest. The father keeps getting off to build a new nest, the uncle is courting an unrelated hen/building a new nest and the mother keeps get getting off for no reason. I thought about pulling the last baby but I have nowhere to foster it out to. All the other nests' babies are much older/bigger. The canaries weaned their first batches. 1 pair was looking rough, so I pulled the nest and started ramping them back down from breeding condition. The hen is now sniffly and puffy; my luck with canaries has not been great. They seem to be very sickly birds compared to quail & doves. The other pair still looked good and handled breeding very easily, so I was letting them have a second clutch - today the hen decided to smash everything and break broody. My single moms are doing fine with their clutches but the red hen wants to start a second clutch and is making god-awful sounds to tempt a male into her cage. I may or may not let her have another clutch. The other hen I'm washing out of breeding - she's struggling with her single chick and clearly not having an easy time. Some birds just need experience but some birds just aren't good parent material.

On the flipside, my coturnix finally all started laying again and my gambels started their season (albeit very slowly and with lots of skips). The weather is really doing a number on the birds if the coturnix are affected. I will HOPEFULLY get some fertilized eggs from my celadon pen FINALLY so I can hatch out a few more 2 gene HENS to round out my flock numbers. I honestly want to pull my sparkly celadon hen out for retirement; she's 3 and looking rough being in there with all the younger birds. Also have an incubator of chicks hatching again. The joy never ends. My outdoor brooders still is not up yet due to the shitty weather, massive storms and it dropping down to freezing outside at night. So now I'm going to have TWO brooders in my room, YAY (its not yay - they stink and they scream).

last three seasons spn are crazy. its just dean being borderline suicidal while sam tries to fix it by basically dangling his keys at him and going : “dean look! cowboys!” “dean look! strip club!” “dean look! haunted action figure.”

Meanwhile castiel is like i see that dean is suicidal, this is clearly my fault so i will remedy this by dying.

It took Buck a moment to process what he saw before him.  Eddie — his arms wrapped around some woman. His face buried in her neck and his fingers brushing her skin.  The other man’s eyes widening, his face going pale as he realised they’d been caught.  Buck barely heard Eddie gasp Chris’s name — the boy motionless next to him as they stared at a ghost.  At Shannon.  At Chris’s mother — who Buck knew was dead.  Had been to the funeral and seen them both through the messy aftermath. Had helped this child mourn once and already knew he’d have to do it again.  Or: What if it was Buck instead of Marisol

tbh i think that scene in 8.17 just reaffirmed everything i'd been slowly realising about buddie and why they could never work and it somehow manifested itself as this 😅

He regretted it as soon as the dial tone sounded. Had let his thumb hover of the name — debating — for more than a few seconds before giving in to the urge to press call.

And yet — as soon as it actually started ringing — he knew he shouldn’t have done it.

That he was fine. That he was being dramatic, once again.

But he also knew he couldn’t just hang up. That it would create a panic — force them to call back — to ask questions.

“Doctor Copeland’s office,” it was a new receptionist. Her voice melodically neutral as she answered the phone, “May I ask who’s calling.”

Buck stumbled over his words for a second, before rushing to explain, “Uh — don’t worry. It was an accident.”

“Are you sure… Mr Buckley?” She drew out the question as if reading the name off a screen and Buck cursed whatever Caller ID system the psychologist’s office employed that still recognised his number.

Her tone more concerned as she asked again, “Is everything okay?”

“Yeah — yeah, of course.” He felt almost breathless as the lies left his lips, “Just a wrong number. Pressed the wrong person by mistake. Sorry for any trouble.”

“Okay — then,” she sounded doubtful. “Well, we’re here if you ever need us, Mr Buckley. Don’t hesitate to ring back now. Okay? I know Doctor Copeland would be more than happy to fit you in.”

“Yeah—” he agreed half-heartedly. Desperate to get off the phone before he did something stupid like actually ask for an appointment.

Knowing it was pointless. That he was fine.

“Have a nice day then.”

He finally freed himself from the conversation. Heart racing like it usually only did when he’s had to run up six flights of stairs in full turn outs.

He forced himself to drop his phone onto the counter — hands shaking as he thought about reaching for it again — and made himself walk away instead.

Looked around the kitchen desperately for something to do and was relieved to spot the small stack of dishes from the night before.

They usually did them together. Buck drying as Eddie washed — accused of almost flooding the kitchen one too many times before Eddie had finally relegated him to the less dangerous of the tasks.

They’d been too tired the night before. Exhaustion dragging them towards bed and leaving the dishes to wait until the morning.

It had been happening more and more lately. Truthfully Buck couldn’t remember the last time they’d shared their little ritual. Meals eaten in a rush as they raced out the door to work — whoever drew the short straw and got home first left to do the tidy up.

At least if Buck didn’t end up eating alone. Eddie always out these days — the friendship he'd struck up with Tommy keeping him gone until late whenever they had the day off.

Chris, even more sociable than his father. Forever at a friend’s house, or out with the girl that he swore to Buck wasn’t a budding romance. Swindling invites for sleepovers through charm and good humour that a young Buck could never have dreamed of emulating.

Always clinging just a little too tight for people to ever really settle in his presence.

It left him alone most nights. At least the ones he didn’t spend at the firehouse, revelling in the thrum of activity. Instructions from Bobby as they cooked, Chim and Hen’s quiet rivalry as they wrestled for control of the TV remote.

Eddie sitting next to him in the engine — their legs brushing they were sat so close. Sometimes it felt like the most intimate they ever were anymore.

Never mind the way they’d clung to each other having rescued Bobby and Athena. Buck pressing into bruises to leave them there a little longer. To remind himself that Eddie had chosen him, that he loved him.

Not that he needed the reminder.

Buck knew that. Intrinsically. He did.

Pruning my booooks.

Honestly because my stupid hypermobile hands I so seldom read physical books anymore because then I accidentally sprain my wrist. So the keepers are stuff I love enough to want to display on a shelf which is a much smaller sampling.

I so desperately wanted to play a rook who was serious and thoughtful but no matter what every line felt like a quip or a joke. I generally like all the actors they chose to voice rook but rook's writing is the weakest of the whole cast hands down and that's the player character... So I think it makes perfect sense to feel disappointment.

Yeah the voice actors have been killin it; I really like Emmrich, Lace, and Solas' (as usual, king GDL, my goat, I'm biased, etc etc) performances in particular.

Emmrich discussing his relationship with death. Bellara opening up about her brother. They really shine in more grounded/serious scenes, which is why I wish the tone was less light.

Companions have always been quirky lbr, but it felt more balanced and well-timed than this. My girl Harding feels too wholesome-awkward to be a 35+ year old Inquisition scout. Rook feels too inexperienced and laidback to be a leader. Lucanis is a very handsome barista who I keep forgetting is part of the organization that ruined Zevran's life. Davrin and Assan have their own lil sitcom going on during this double blight. So on so forth.

Without rehashing whats been discussed a trillion times: the vibes are just off.
