My Interpertation On Soulmates - An Aiura Analysis and Saiura analysis dissection.

Okay so as we know, Aiura herself is not truly aware on the way soulmates exactly work as it's a blurred line for her and is necessarily stated as more of a desire, most soulmates canonically do not always meet in the saiki k universe. Aiura herself takes the initiative to find her soulmate for her desires, I believe that she thinks soulmates reflect your desires and are the person to understand you the most, so she attempts to advance Saiki into sexual and romantical relationships by that, (remember this point moving forward.) she seems to fully be aware that Soulmates is not a guarantee that they'll be your fated partner as she doesn't refer to other people's fated partners as soulmates when she's doing readings. There are definitely different types of soulmates that will determine their FORTUNATE or UNFORTUNATE fates and circumstances with you - this is how ill categorize the types under two categories. What are Saiki and Aiura then? I believe they are actually in the fortunate section- they do affect eachothers *soul* fortunately through fate because of Saiki's circumstances, Aiura was there to help and be able to achieve what Saiki's wanted fortunately.

One of the ways I see soulmates is that their main pointers and integral effects is that soulmates are - "mission for eachother/together" and I actually completely agree with that too, soulmates is a broad concept that can fit into anything, good or the bad. There's this other media im in where these characters are connected to be soulmates but the other is extremely toxic and abusive. So soulmates in their concept doesn't mean good, that they're just connected by souls fortunate or unfortunate. That would make sense for Saiki and Aiura, and fits more as shown that he needed her, because his future wouldn't have changed if not for Aiura..? In his case, being somewhat fortunate. That's why I categorize them as fortunate, relationships are up to fate and is matters on how you treat your soulmate. There is also different compatabilities to consider so soulmates matters in the circumstances that are set, some don't NEED to meet their soulmate for their future but Saiki and Aiura did as his future changed expetenciously. Aiura uses her powers in good fate with the presenting of Saiki, gaining her a new perspective ahead. This was fortunate and affective for both.

Aiura and Saiki's souls comply with eachother, I think that they're soulmates where it's not about romance or platonic but they're souls are connected, their powers comply with one another just like their souls. That's exactly what has been shown. This doesn't guarantee their platonic or romantic bond will be strong as this is up to fate! As heavily shown.

My interpertation on Aiura's character with Saiki:

Aiura is a very cool and unique character, to which her emotions may not immediately clash with Saiki's because they have different views on how to treat certain situations (example: Mera and her Dad), which makes a compelling perspective/POTENTIAL in their relationship to where Aiura may try to give Saiki a push on how to approach things just as Saiki does with her. Although, sadly, their relationship did not progress/develop as much as it should have. So this is only potentials and slight slight progressions.

But I feel that her flaws exaggerate more expetenciously/horrendously when she's with Saiki, which isn't a good thing. That's why I'm always surprised to see people prefer Aiura when it comes to choosing who's great with Saiki, when you realize how she was harassing him about her desires and her assuming he'd like them too, and she even goes to thinks he's a sadistic, she only thinks this just so she could like the idea of him being her soulmate because she found him very boring.

Desires in this context are about advancing into romantical/sexual relationship, and those are Aiura's Desires.

Aiura is a very sexual person who has tried putting these Desires onto Saiki because she believes soulmates reflect your desire and that he would genuinely enjoy that to which he wouldn't, which shows her very flawed perspective on Saiki and shows this flaw, crossing boundaries. Because of the many times she has harassed them in interest to advance their relationship to more romantical/sexual, she has crossed many boundaries set by Saiki, so far that she has used her own divine powers to intervene within Saiki's life after he purposely avoids her, she then tries to plan a "lucky feel" moment.

(EXPLANATION: a lucky feel moment is when two people get into a suggestive accident, both parties not knowing of this suggestive, mainly sexual - feel, contact on contact moment, hence the name a lucky * feel * moment.)

But this wasn't the case here, since Aiura was aware of what would happen and she was planning this while using her divine powers to intervene and pass it off as an accident to Saiki. (See Chapter 186 to understand)

This is one of an example of her flaws on how she selfishly used her powers to cross Saiki's boundaries and reflect her desires onto Saiki. She doesn't seem to usually do this with anyone but once she is with Saiki, all of her flaws are heavily exaggerated and worsen within.

She has made assumptions onto Saiki, calling HIM selfish because he seemed unkind to her, a negative moment she had on Saiki's character, to which, she doesn't seem to do with everyone else either. Which adds to the list of flaws shes shown expetenciously with Saiki.

Sometimes, it seems like Aiura doesn't take to consider Saiki's best interests at times only because she misunderstanding him and does not have a great perspective on who Saiki truly is, her ideas and assumptions blind her to connect with Saiki any further, which is another flaw that gets emphasized when shes around Saiki.

I believe Aiura is a kind and usually selfless person, but as I said, when she is with Saiki, her flaws end up exaggerating and heavily will overshadow her positive aspects and traits.

The way she views soulmates is inherently a stubborn and selfish way, as she's not able to think more above her horizon other than her advancing her relationships romantical and sexual with Saiki, not realizing she has already made a strong bond within their powers and friendship. <-THIS is what soulmates is for her and Saiki. She gravely misunderstands that and blinds her from advancing a better bond platonically with Saiki unless it's within/about her powers, though she tries to use them negatively and intervene divinely - AGAINST saiki, unfortunate act but this wouldn't count towards the unfortunate category since this was just her misusing her powers.

In conclusion: Saiki and Aiura are soulmates, in the sense their souls comply with one another within their powers, it's not romantical or platonical but its so their future can move forward, so that their SOULS are able to move forward, they're connected divinely FORTUNATELY

It's good that she found him even though in mind she had it as a stubborn desire, it moved into something else giving her a new perspective positively and fortunately from Saiki, just as she, Aiura, does with Saiki.

Does this mean Saiki has to stick with Aiura forever? No

Does Aiura have to stick with Saiki forever? Also, No

Is it anywhere implied that their compatability/soulmates is inherently tied to love? No ^^ that's all! That's something fate will do. It's not a guarantee!

I do wish this was more elaborated within the soulmate connection, but to me—this is the one that makes the most sense and aligns with canon while considering the actions and placements in mind of Saiki and Aiura's relationships, they are different than normal people who are not psychics, thus they'll have a different connection in mind but they still have the same goal as most non-psychic soulmates do - for their futures to move forward.

I wouldn’t go that far as calling him eldritch abomination idk why… that sounds too great of a title? their dad is one tho. I will point some of the characteristics of eldritch abominations and if Eli has those or not because i'm not sure myself, also i'm not an expert this is for fun and don’t have a lot of info about it so blehhh):

The problem with Eldritch abominations is that it’s difficult to visually depict them since it’s better when they lack form, when you look at it you lose fear, they become comprehensible in a visual way if it’s not moving or difficult to find a form that produces the fear of the unknown or possible threat). There is also the feeling of fear that comes with looking at those entities, it can have an explanation or just be triggered by the fact that the creature is breaking reality, but with Eli is just a little uncomfortable feeling in people, nothing maddening. Eli has a recognizable form even if it's changes a lot, so it loses that touch a little bit. I personally don't find her monster form that horrible, for me it's more on the cute side (-1 point for Eli booo tomato tomato tomat-)

Eli reshapes reality in:

Themselves, their own code with their physical form, but they do this without touching the code in a manual/direct way, their own willingness produces a change in it. Also their ability to disfigure, reshape or alter the body of others and change their code can be an example too.

The surroundings (against Eli's will), it gets affected because they are something that shouldn't exist or doesn’t belong in that reality (and that’s what they feel, it’s like a materialization of their thoughts in a sense; im not saying their mind has control over the surroundings, this is just a small fact). Things like terrestrial animals freezing just by being near them (this doesn’t affect humans since Eli is half human) or fish getting meters away from them (their dad comes from the sea so the creatures of that ‘realm’ know what to do, while animals of land kind of short circuit accepting their possible death). Eli also causes a small uncomfortable feeling in people, but that dissipates the more time they pass with them (ooo why ooo) so it doesn’t count (but this can be felt by other people that are ‘monsters’). 

So it would be accurate in that aspect (+1 point Eli woo)

Eli’s existence also goes against natural laws as we know them. I was thinking that their existence could be explained by science in a far away future, because the thought that no one is going to be able to understand them kind of makes me sad but that’s just my personal view on them. The laws that they broke are life and death definitions (like the undead category; zombies, vampires etc), i don’t feel like explaining this right now sorry, but you can make yourself an idea with what i have said before. They also break some gravitational and physical laws (chunks of flesh floating in the air or even getting dissolved into it) anddd this is too much im leaving it there my head hurtsds (+1porintn eyeyyu)9

Eli can be killed. Difficult but possible. You just need to be smart about it. You don’t need to go to great lengths or a great sacrifice to make it happen. Some eldritch abominations can be killed, but a lot of times it's not easy to do so and requires a lot, so even though it’s not a requirement, it’s kind of meh (-1 point because yes, fuck Eli, get her ass, whathe flip)

Existing outside of reality? their reality is the game universe, but bear with me for a second. If we count Eli as in the game universe, you can see if from two perspectives: them as in the character and concept inside the game OR as the entity playing the game.

Aside from that we have Eli’s existence that's supposed to be outside of the game, ‘the player’, someone or something real. This would be the ‘being beyond our reality’ (the reality of the other characters), something not perceptible to the code. Actually a side note: i had an idea before that was for Eli to shape or have an impact on the code of the game through veins and flesh, but I don't want that to be in the game universe… it's just a funny thought… I'm making you lose time

ORV transcends language | how ORV is kind to readers (1.1k words)

the difficulties in analyzing text are already numerous without a language barrier, the way one word can mean 5 things and when you put it in a sentence suddenly it can mean 50 things and put that sentence in a paragraph? go further and put that paragraph in a page? construct a whole world around it, weave it into the fabric, and suddenly you are painting with words.

ORV is a daunting text, it calls and references so many mythos world wide, greek, roman, indian, chinese, japanese, it plays with meaning and intent and uses gaps in our knowledge like weapons, making us extrapolate our own meaning between the sentences, it is a tome of knowledge when it comes to histories and philosophies it feels at times like I will never understand all these things inside it.

One of the difficulties of reading a translated text is that when we analyze a text the authorial intent weighs very heavily in our minds, sure we can immerse ourselves in the world but once we start picking apart at the threads we hit a wall pretty soon when we start asking ourselves "what did the author mean by this?" however in a translated text there is an obvious gap, a game of telephone, did the translator actually capture the authors intent? or are we just reading the translators perception? sadly I don't know korean, and I cant say I have the drive to learn it, as such I know there will forever be a side of ORV that I will never be privy to - however I am bilingual and had the pleasure of reading two translated versions of ORV, an English translation and an Arabic translation, I didn't finish reading the said Arabic translation but a couple things stood out to me when I briefly did ORV is very kind to readers, following along in other stories can seem confusing at times, the pacing might be too fast and you might miss some details in a characters actions, the wording might be too vague and ah damn 20 pages later you realize you don't actually know why the characters are doing what they are doing. A big writing adage that you will see a lot is "show dont tell" and it holds merit, but ORV doesn't subscribe to it, because ORV shows AND tells. ORV built a world around readers and reading, and it makes sure that there is clarity every step of the way on what is happening, first by starting out as a homage to the isekai genre, and not deviating too much at the start, making the readers feel at home in a worldview they are familiar with, systems, leveling, videos games etc, and when it starts deviating it explains things with clarity that no matter how bad the translation is you understand the general intent, and secondly by being VERY blatant about the names of things and having a built in "story" system that is built on common story tropes and names the themes for you! take for example "unbroken faith" and "Blade of faith" both of these are two translated versions of dokja's sword. I will never know which one is closer to the original authorial intent, but I can tell you something, dokja's sword is symbolism to the faith he is wielding. (CH386 vague spoilers) or the entirety of "the great war of saints and demons" being about the concept of good and evil fighting and how kimcom aren't just above being good and evil, they are both. By using story tropes that we are familiar with to explain the complexity of situations in a simple forms you no longer have to worry about losing you readers understandings through language barriers. Every story in the world in every language knows what good vs evil is, every language has the words to explain them. and therein lies the beauty of ORV. But of course this isn't to say translations don't matter, it does speak to the strength of an original texts clarity when it accounts for the big things by making them simplified, but when we get down to the nitty gritty it starts to lose form take for example

"Tell me, you fool. If I continue to regress, will I ever get to meet you again?"

this person here has a great write up explaining the translators thoughts behind this specific line

but it has spawned a lot of debate in the English speaking fandom, as to the strength of its translation, I remember when I first saw someone claiming that its a mistranslation and "you fool" isn't part of the original, my first thought was "and so?" I do not mean to be dismissive to the original text, but I do not exist in a space where I can appreciate it in the original korean, I do not exist in a worldview where I can understand the historical implications of a lot of the characters, and even when I try to research it in English sadly the resources do not exist yet and its even more laughable to think of finding these things in Arabic. (Goryeos first sword doesn't have an English wikipedia page as a clear example) a lot of people have issues with the most popular English fantranslation of ORV - and I can understand why, being bilingual I have a lot of opinions on how a lot of things SHOULD be translated most of the time, and have done my own translation work but as I sit and think about this popular translation I cant help but just feel love for it, it might be lacking to some, it might be inaccurate at times to others, but its just enough for me to paint the gaps in the text with my perceptions, the words used are tied to my affections the Arabic translation of ORV is clunky, it is messy, it doesn't have as much grace as the English translation of ORV does, the words barely string together cohesively, but it has enough clarity, enough intent, and enough love for its readers, to catch their hearts, their attention and their energy

and so I want this to be the first post on this blog because, the author is dead here, not because I buried them, but because the tower of babel fell down a long time ago, and all we have is rubble and each other. a lot of the analysis on this blog will try to be respectful to the korean original wherever it can, however my words will be coming from an anglosphere perspective, and build on other English reader's perceptions of a text translation that a decent amount of people don't think is adequate, but just like ORV is kind to us, we can be kind back, I will quote the most popular version because its what connects us together, and while the authors intent might be lost, we can share our own meanings with each other, and build our own intent from the rubble.

Now that I’m rewatching the Ore Monogatari, my desire to reread the manga is increasing because I know there are some differences in the dynamic between Suna and Takeo/Yamato, particularly in how Suna’s disinterest with romance is handled but also, in a more subtle way, with his discomfort with attention/care more generally. was thinking about rayla and les mis and (bear with me) concepts of morality and the miscommunication that can come from thinking a morally driven character is one that does what's Right vs the reality of a morality driven character doing what is intrinsically right to them. it's why javert and superman and rayla can all be morally driven characters, but one is a way too fucking intense cop who only sees black-and-white, one's the biggest good guy paragon in existence, and another is an assassin who is very bad at being an assassin, because morally driven characters are usually driven by a motivation to Protect above all else, but who deserves that protection and what they are protecting people from (ie. who is deemed the Enemy) can all vary wildly
